Our home (a working farm) and The Cottages at are nestled beneath Ireland's highest mountain, Carrauntoohil. We are situated on the famous Kerry Way walking route and in the heart of the Reeks District. The collection of houses were some of the last in Ireland to be connected to the electricity grid (in 1978) due to their isolated location in one of Ireland’s most unspoiled valleys on the edge of the Killarney National Park.
“A truly incredible airbnb experience. The black valley might be one of the prettiest spots in the whole of Ireland. The location, while a good 20 mins off the beaten path, is centrally located so that you can easily make day trips along the ring of Kerry, the Dingle peninsula, and/or Killarney National Park. If you decide to stay closer to the cottage, however, there is much to see and do even if the weather isn't as inspiring as you'd like. Ailish provides details about nearby walks that take you to vista's other tourist could only dream of. And for those with a more adventurous spirit, the cottage is at the foot of Carruntoohill and Hags Tooth Ridge. Advice on getting there. We had a Renault Megane hatchback, and it was adequate, even in the foul weather. But a 4wd or something with more ground clearance would probably be better. This is not unique to this property, however, as there were multiple times on our journey around Ireland where we loathed being low to the ground. There are surprise bumps and dirt roads throughout the country, and often they are too the most exciting places; like Anam V! My advice would be a diesel Dacia Duster. We drove one around Iceland last year and it was economical, easy to navigate on small roads, and capable off road. You must try to stay here if in Ireland. The cottage is very well appointed, Ailish has covered every single base, the vistas are to die for, oh and the fresh bread and jam provided is delicious!! Thank you Ailish!”
Set in mature gardens adjacent to our family home, Wild Rose Cottage is a self-contained garden apartment with panoramic mountain and sea views. It's on a quiet country road 3 minutes’ walk to the nearest beach and 25 minute’s walk to Castlegregory village, located on the Wild Atlantic Way and Kerry Way walking route. The cottage has been newly renovated and consists of a bright spacious ensuite double bedroom, kitchen/living area with wood burning stove and a private patio/garden area.
“Such a great visit. The location is nestled far enough away from the bustling towns that you get a true feel of what it’s like to be a local and yet close enough that you get to both site-see and still have everything you need near by. The hosts were so pleasant, gave us fresh eggs and milk and bread, we were able to cook ourselves nice breakfast. Dingle was such a lovely drive, the peninsula was so impressive. So many opportunities for memories and photos. The apartment is rather chilly, but there’s a heated blanket and fire place and so we made do. This location absolutely requires a car in my opinion- Even to the town of Dingle where the supermarket was is a bit of a drive. Also, a lot of the restaurants and cafes were closed despite their hours online and on the buildings saying otherwise... I’m assuming it was due to the time of year we visited. But overall, would not have changed a thing. We loved our stay and would recommend it over and over!”

“Great value for the money. Cromane is a quiet little town with very little other than Jack's but we had a lovely time. The BnB itself is a small house with everything our family needed and we had the best meal of our trip next door at the restaurant. We hope to return and wholeheartedly recommend.”
