Family-friendly holiday rentals in Coromandel

Coming from a busy town, my partner and I wanted a getaway from all the noise and just the busy lifestyle that we have and the chalet was the perfect place for us to stay at and recharge mentally before getting back to reality. The privacy that you get as well as the surrounding of the beautiful nature was a bonus for us too. Definitely would recommend to those that need this kind of getaway or just a peaceful getaway in general. If you get the chance to meet the hosts, Charles and Nikki, they’re very welcoming and lovely people too!

Beautiful home located above Onetangi with incredible views and an amazing deck to sit and enjoy the sunshine on! Full kitchen to cook in, comfortable beds, hot showers, and relaxing spa pool all made the stay so luxurious. Would recommend taking cards or a board game for evenings or rainy winter days.

My 7 year old cried himself to sleep on our last night because he didn't want to leave your beautiful place and lovely selves. Hes already begging to come back. Thanks for going over & above from your thoughtfulness in our dietary requirements to immaculate linen, the most cleanest cute lil place that had everything we needed. Having the Spa was a bonus & one of the highlights of our stay relaxing as a family & making the kids sleep well. Thanks for opening your hearts & home. In our short stay we love you already. Love love love everything about this home. The views, the animals, the conversations. Everything was like a fairytale. The fruit from the farm was delicious (even tried a new type of fruit I’d never had!), the tub was perfect for a nice relaxing soak after being at the beach all day. Will be coming back here when I visit NZ again. 11/10

We had planned to stay a few years ago but sadly Covid stopped our plans so it had been a long time coming and it did not disappoint in the slightest! The location was perfect and the house was spacious and grand yet had cosy areas to sit around the fire, all the games the kids could dream of a a chefs dream kitchen! Not to mention the spa and the wonderful bath for those of us that wanted to simply relax! We have already booked again and can’t wait! What a find xx

We will be back for sure! Absolutely delivered what was on the tin. To others thinking glamping is seasonal, it was toasty as anything and outside there's a an outdoor fire and a hot tube - sublime. Kids loved feeding the animals and discovering nature. Thanks for everything!

Ewan’s place is even more stunning than photos can capture. The west facing deck was beautiful at sunset. Such a great location we were able to walk to the Oneroa Shops and bus around the island otherwise. It was just 2 of us staying but would be great place for 2 couples to stay as each room has own bathroom and lots of entertaining space. Bonus was the amazing comfy king size bed and loved looking through the books and CD collection. Ewan as super responsive (we booked last minute same day we checked in) and allowed late check out. 5 stars!

The view from this property is absolutely breathtaking, making for an unforgettable stay. The host was fantastic—warm, welcoming, and incredibly knowledgeable about the local area. Their tips and insights really enhanced my experience. Highly recommend this place for anyone looking for stunning scenery and excellent hospitality!

We had a lovely stat at Barn loft . The place was beautifully presented and very cosy, making it the perfect retreat. Being able to bring our dog along was an added bonus that made our trip even more enjoyable. Highly recommended!

The Shed was cute as a button. Lots of books, games (and toys if you have kids!). It was just my partner and I plus our wee dog. Used the outside bath one night which was fun - the lights out on the deck were so pretty. Beds were comfy although I had to sleep in the top bunk as the bottom bed was a tad too small for both of us. (I like to starfish) 😂 Toilet and shower were outside of the shed (in a separate room just next to the shed). Pity it was pissing down as it wasn’t very pleasant going outside to the bathroom space during the night. However great stay, Donna was lovely and had wine and chocolate for us on arrival which was a great touch!

The place was very accommodating, and Ngaire was really kind. The location was great with a beautiful view, making the stay very relaxing. Overall, it was a lovely stay!

Warren and Sandy's are just a really short walk away from Hot Water Beach. Sandy advised us on where to park before we arrived, and Warren greeted us upon arrival, showed us around and gave us tips on what to do in the area. Our little one enjoyed seeing the eels being fed in the morning too. I personally enjoyed Warren's home brew. A great place to stay!

Sharon was a friendly, informative host from the outset. The privacy of her place along with its amenities were perfect for our situation. We would not look to book elsewhere if in Whangamata again.

Really enjoyed out stay. Fantastic location and a great sized apartment. The kids loved the pools and it was super convenient to have the use of 2 car parks. Thanks for having us and sorting out a porta cot. We'd love to come and stay again :)

My partner and I had a wonderful weekend stay. The place was incredibly quiet and private, perfect for a relaxing getaway. We really appreciated the lovely personal touches that made our holiday feel extra special. Everything was clearly prepared with care. Check-in and check-out were seamless, which made the whole experience even more enjoyable. We’d absolutely stay here again.

We had a lovely stay at Sue and Stephen’s place. It was calm, peaceful, and surrounded by beautiful fruit trees — such a refreshing retreat! Check-in was smooth and hassle-free. Both Sue and Stephen were friendly, responsible, and genuinely caring hosts. We accidentally left our wallet behind and only realized after reaching home. Sue was incredibly helpful and immediately offered to send it back to us via courier. So grateful for their kindness and support. Highly recommended! Athira and Rijin

My husband, my friend and I very much enjoyed our stay at John’s place. It was as described, situated conveniently near both the beach and town. Especially appreciated was a second bathroom. John responded promptly to a query or two and offered helpful suggestions. We would definitely recommend his place and would stay there again.

Such a lovely place where you can find everything that you need (and that’s totally rare). Super comfortable and well-equipped! It’s very well located with stores around the corner, the beach nearby, and easy access to explore the whole area in coromandel. Highly recommended!
