Ovenden Lodge Guesthouse

OVENDEN LODGE is a rural smallholding with horses and chickens , surrounded by open paddocks. It is situated off Main North Road at the southern entrance to historic Gawler. We offer a self-contained "granny flat" alongside the main house that is ideal for a quiet, private retreat for 1-2 adults, complete with cedar hot tub and sauna. Unfortunately, due to the ponds and animals on the property, Ovenden Lodge is NOT suited for children. Dogs and ponies are welcome by individual prior arrangement.

Built in 1881, in historic Church Hill, with modern amenities, the quiet, central Gawler location offers an unique, private, short accommodation option, close to the Barossa Valley. Located to the rear of the Courthouse, guests enter a luxury ensuite, into an expansive bedroom with couch and table. The massive, freestanding bath is divine. Schomburgk Cottage- Gawler- private, cozy, unique.

This romantic place to stay offers a history all its own. Come and experience what is believed to be the barn which has been converted into a cozy and private space for two. We have tried to retain as many historic features of the cottage while making sure it is modern and comfortable. We still have a lot to do and will continuing works between guests. The cottage has a quirky attic bedroom accessed by a steep set of stairs. Very much like a tiny house. Please keep that in mind when booking.

The main house is 200m away. Yards for horses are opposite the unit. Dressage arena and 650m track are available. Close by trail riding, cycling/ walking paths, historical townships (Gawler, Two Wells). Barossa Valley is 25km away. Come enjoy peace and quiet, whilst being close to amenities.

Gawler is located approx. 45 minutes from the CBD, 1 hour from the airport and offers many dining options, parks walking trails, easy access to the Barossa Valley and Clare Valley wine regions.
