We loved our little jungle home. The place was very special. The beach and water were wonderful for the kids. Ramon and family were also very welcoming. The home got a little hot at night but we adjustment after the first night. Thank you for a wonderful stay

Angelic views of volcanoes, the lake, the birth place of the Little Prince. Chris is a great host. And incredible human. What he has created on earth is impeccable.

This stay was special in exactly the way we thought it would be. You’re sleeping right in the middle of the jungle, but protected with a net on the bed. You can hear all sorts of animals throughout the night and day which enhances your experience. The restaurant on the grounds is magnificent and has amazing food. Our host Megan was so supportive and proactive with our constant change in travel plans. She also helped setting up a guide to hike the volcano as well as took care of our ferry tickets to come in (we did ourselves for the way back due to last minute changes and it was a huge pain) Overall, if you’re looking to be immersed in nature on an island with several good restaurants and plenty of things to do. This stay is perfectly located for that and offers great value for the price.

Ultimately this was the best airbnb I have ever stayed in. The location is incredible- literally waking up inside the national park. Trails start onsite, waterfalls within a 30 minute walk. Abundance of birds. Room is overall basic (bed comfy, shower is great). No A/C and it is HOT at night. No kitchen only their restaurant. Dinner is $26 USD (lots of food, worth it) but the breakfast ($16.50) and lunch ($17.50) felt so overpriced. HOWEVER THE FOOD IS AMAZING. the chef is 10/10. all staff on site were unbelievably kind and helpful. The room itself is priced reasonably but everything onsite is in USD and EXPENSIVE!! Be prepared to spend a lot when you get there. Otherwise bring snacks/protein bars and do self guided hikes (free) to keep costs down. Arrange own transport too. Transport offered like ride to airport is $250. Hikes were great, I did 5/7 waterfalls. Saw only birds no other wild life which was too bad. Overall this was a great experience!!! amazing place and people

Johanna's place is a real oasis. There were many things that made it feel so: sleeping so close to the river, being able to wake up and walk down to the water, cooking in the open kitchen with a view, finding stillness in the garden so easily, practicing movement in the open shala while enjoying all the shades of green, the singing birds, the howling monkeys... Johanna was helpful and responsive in preparation of and during my stay. Her recommendations were spot on. I was also able to take a yoga class with her and other locals, which was really nice. The location is really good too: isolated enough from the busyness, but close to Guadalajara, Nuevo Arenal and Tilaran. This place is a hidden gem, I cannot believe how lucky I was to stumble upon it here. If you're doubting whether to book a stay here, just do it.

Our stay was very comfortable and in contact with nature, it is the ideal place to spend as a family and disconnect from the daily routine, the house beautiful, cozy and extensive garden, Don Edwin's attention was excellent and always attentive to us, a place 💯% recommended 👌

Jaguar Creek is an absolute gem! For those who enjoy nature and want to be immersed, this is the perfect place! Don’t fear that there isn’t air conditioning, during the day you’ll want to be out doing things and at night it cools off and is great for sleeping. We ate most meals at the restaurant and so appreciated the staff and excellent care and food. This place feels so personal! We took two tours and both were fantastic in their own way. Details and planning were spot on and we loved every minute! We did do the blue hole but tubing in the creek there was almost even more enjoyable!

Our little cabin had everything we wanted, good mattresses, nice outdoor shower, air conditioning (a big plus!), a screened in porch, hammock. A very peaceful place, where we woke up to the sound of birds (and a band of howler monkeys one night). Kate is super friendly and gave us lots of recommendations and information. We had breakfast and dinner a few times and the food was excellent. Bullet Tree Falls has grocery shops, good bakery, restaurants (or maybe just the one we went to right above the river, which was very good) and a beautiful river. We were really glad that we drove the extra 4 km from San Ignacio to stay there.

Our stay in Upala was peaceful and full of beautiful surroundings! The cook, Dinia, was so welcoming and accommodating! The pool was clean and my kids favorite part! Probably could put a weather strip at the bottom of the sliding cabin doors to help keep bugs out but otherwise the cabin and sleeping hearing the rain on the metal roof each night was so memorable!

Mercedes was an incredibly sweet and helpful host, she made us feel right at home from the start. The place itself is peaceful and surrounded by nature, with the sounds of wildlife adding to the relaxing atmosphere. It’s about a 15-minute drive from La Fortuna, and most tours will pick you up directly from the Airbnb, making it super convenient. If you’re looking for a stress-free stay near La Fortuna, I highly recommend this place!

La Poza Azul provides a little hideaway at the end of the world. If you want privacy away from the hustle and bustle of some of the more touristy areas of the island, this is your spot. There’s plenty of places to relax to enjoy the sun dotting through the trees and the breeze off the lake. I loved how alone I could be, but when I wanted company, it was easy to find. The land here is intense and beautiful. It will take what it needs to take, and give you what you need to receive. I love to camp, so I’m not bothered by lack of AC or bugs or general things that come with living with the outdoors, so mentally prepare for that type of living if you aren’t accustomed. Spike is incredibly hospitable and such a joy to get to know. He patiently and kindly answered my one million questions about Nicaraguan life. I loved the connections I was able to make with the neighbors, as well. The trip to this secluded spot was a HAUL, and Spike was so proactive and helpful in getting me there. <3

Rodolfo's cottage and property are right by Cahuita Park. Even before you arrive, you get a lot of information about where. Arrived, his girlfriend and Manfred & Luna (his dogs) greeted us. Everything was very nice and you should know that they sleep right in the jungle! Howler monkeys, sloths and insects incl. The breakfast was always homemade, typical of the country and fresh - Rodolfo likes to surprise his guests. The coffee is just delicious and as much as you can... You also have privacy, Rodolfo sleeps 50m further in your own house and is around the house from time to time. If not, he's on tour because he's a guide; which we didn't know before. You should take a canoe trip on the river or a night hike through its extensive property. All in all a perfect place to immediately enjoy nature in the Caribbean. Pura Vida

My stay was totally satisfactory. It was clean and impeccable. Perfect for forgetting the stress of everyday life, because there is a lot of tranquility in an area away from the hustle and bustle. Cristian was very attentive, helping us with ideas of what to do in the area I will really come back

Believe all of the 5-star reviews! Malekus Mountain Lodge is pure magic. We were a family of ten ranging in age from 75 to 11, and couldn’t have asked for a better base for our Costa Rican adventures. Each couple had their own room and bathroom which were very clean and comfortable, even without A/C. Fans were provided in every room and it cooled down considerably at nighttime. The communal space, living room and pool area are amazing, and the gardens, trails, bridges and ponds are absolutely stunning. We couldn’t believe how lucky we were to have the place all to ourselves and experience the hospitality of Roger and Rosie and their dog, Bruno. They were wonderful hosts, providing delicious breakfasts, insights into the flora and fauna, and recommendations for restaurants, activities and guides that truly felt authentic - we were usually the only North Americans around. Being conversational in Spanish is helpful. Rent a 4WD and be ready for adventure!

Everything was very nicely furnished and, above all, in the evening we had a very nice atmosphere. The price was fair. There was only a misunderstanding with the washing machine, where 10 dollars is a common price for laundry. Thank You!

Lily is a great host, the cabin is comfy and clean, the garden Lily created will take your breath away, the place is unique and peacefull. I highly recommend.

The stay in MarOnda was very good. You are surrounded by nature and you have Playa Bluff in front, with the parador right there. We really enjoyed our days there a lot. Something to consider, it's pretty far from Bocas Town. It's about 40min by taxi and leaves 20/25usd. For those who want to be on the beach and surrounded by nature it is not a problem, but if you pretend to hike, you should be closer to the center.
