The Saddlery Cottage

Beautiful converted cottage in the grounds of an historic Victorian country house in rural Wales. Wood-burning stove, Wi-Fi, stunning views of the Black Mountains. Perfect for walkers, cyclists, garden-lovers, or horse-riders of all ages. Just 450 yards on a private drive through the estate from a barn which sleeps 8 (see 'Eco-Barn in the Brecon Beacons'). Ideal also for larger gatherings. Dogs welcome; a maximum of two permitted. The cottage is located on a 19th century country house estate of about 10 acres of gardens, lawns and woods. There are three bedrooms - a double ensuite on the ground floor, and two upstairs bedrooms (two doubles, one can be made up as twin beds) that share a large bathroom. A double-height kitchen and an open plan living/dining area with a banquette, a woodburning stove, two large comfy sofas and fabulous views. One side of the cottage looks onto a cobbled stable yard, and the other onto its own garden, then beyond that parkland, Llangorse Lake and the Black Mountains. Fabulous restaurants and farm shops are within a short drive as well as the lake, with boating facilities, beautiful walks out of your front door, and great biking trails. An all-around perfect location for a peaceful holiday in rural Wales. The cottage has its own entrance and parking, also its own garden with a table and chairs. Guests are welcome to explore the grounds of Treberfydd House, and are free to bring up to two pets. My husband and I and our family live a couple of minutes' walk from the Saddlery, and are available to help with any questions guests may have. Completely rural idyll - Perfect for those who want to escape the city and drink in the joys of the countryside. You would need a car to get around. Wellies are recommended, and good walking gear advisable for the hills. Booking is normally for a minimum of three nights. Between November and and March we offer a special rate for a Friday + Saturday booking with a late checkout of 4.30pm on Sunday. Please contact us for details. A very spacious and luxurious family holiday house to sleep 8 adults but can sleep 10 people if children included. Jude & Geoff’s place was fantastic. This is a hiker’s dream. Perfect location for hiking in Bannau Brycheiniog (Brecon Beacons) a porch for your boots, delicious local breakfast goods - they have thought of every detail. The canalside setting also makes for leisurely walks from the front door too. Jude & Geoff are also the loveliest hosts I’ve ever engaged with, so proactive, great recommendations and a clear passion for their lovely home and surroundings. We hope to come back!

Absolutely spotless, perfect for my sister and law and I for our local trip. Matthew text in advance to confirm our arrival time so that he could greet us. Matthew briefed us and answered questions and then left us to it. Lots of info on local food, travel, drs and instructions for things at the annex. Lovely over head shower, hot tub was the initial need and attraction, but even without the hot tub, the accommodation is amazing, peaceful, compact and has all the initial refreshments of tea, coffee, sugar and some Welsh cakes, as well as milk. If we do the Trek again next year, We will certainly book again! Thank you, what a lovely little space you have made. I also admire the outdoor area, very nicely done.

We had such a wonderful stay at Steve’s place for our short family holiday. The views were absolutely out of this world, truly breathtaking and something we’ll never forget. The accommodation itself was clean, cosy, and had everything we needed. The bedrooms were incredibly spacious, offering plenty of room for everyone to relax and unwind. The outside space was just as beautiful, with a lovely garden and the highlight being the pagoda and fire pit area. It was the perfect spot to enjoy an evening fire with a glass of wine, wrapped up in the peaceful surroundings. A huge thank you to Steve for his warm hospitality and for making us (including our beautiful dog) feel so welcome and at home. We’d love to return one day!

This beautiful property took our breath away. We felt like we were in an exclusive boutique hotel but with all the comforts of a home. We were a group of 6 friends away on an annual hiking weekend. We did gorgeous walks from the house in the stunning surroundings. The house was just amazing. We were so lucky with the weather and enjoyed the gorgeous veranda area and balconies from 2 of the bedrooms to the fullest. If it had been raining, this is the kind of place that could be enjoyed just as much from the inside. The decor and attention to detail is beyond what we've experienced. Absolutely LOVED this place and really hope to return. The host was really responsive and helpful. Don't hesitate to book it if you're wavering - it's really very very special.
