We (family of four with young kids) came across this house and loved it, but it didn’t have a bed for our one year old daughter, so we sent Vic a message and he went out of his way to find one. Great start! When we got there, the house was even better than the pictures give away: private villa on the quiet outskirts of Ahangama, but a five minute tuk tuk ride will get you to the town’s centre where all the restaurants and such are. Modern bedrooms, each with their own bathroom, nice kitchen and living room, beautiful pool, huge patio with a roof over it, monkeys in the trees in the morning etc. etc. I contacted Vic several times during our stay and always got quick replies with great advice - places to eat, tuk tuk drivers, surf coach and places to see. Would definitely recommend and hope to visit again myself some day!

Chanuka was a warm and welcoming host. He lives right next door and is super helpful and responsive to any needs you may have. Mango house is well located with lots of shops nearby. Tuk tuks and taxi both are easy to get from this location. The house comes fully equipped and I really enjoyed having a fully functioning kitchen at my disposal. We were a family of three and the house felt comfortable and spacious. I highly recommend Mango house for travellers who want a break from the hotel/hostel route and want to stay at a place that feels like a private home.

Wir hatten so eine schöne Zeit. Der Garten ist riesig und das Haus war sauber und wir hatten ganz viel Platz als Familie. Zu Fuß kann man die Umgebung erkunden. Restaurants, Supermärkte und der Strand lässt sich zu Fuß erkunden. Eine tolle Nachbarschaft und vor allem eine sehr ruhige. Wir haben uns sehr wohl gefühlt und würden jederzeit wiederkommen. Die Familie hat uns sogar morgens Frühstück gemacht, das unglaublich lecker war. Wir sind sehr traurig gehen zu müssen und behalten das Haus in schöner Erinnerung . Bis bald , Anna und Tim

What a great place to stay! The villa has many rare amenities, kitchen, washing machine, iron, sink, hair dryer, laundry dryer. Two desks is something no one has in this area! Most hosts assume only one desk, but we are a couple working remotely, so we needed two. The ergonomic chairs are a huge advantage, we've never had such good chairs when working away from home, we felt like we were in our home office with them. We moved the desks to one of the bedrooms and it was a breakthrough, one bedroom for us and the other bedroom as an office, both with air conditioning. The place was very clean. The scooter included is a huge added value, we used it a lot and can't imagine life without a scooter. Pinidu and his mom are wonderful! They have helped us so many times and have always been very kind, responsive, supportive. They are amazing people and we will miss them. Pinidu also treated us to a variety of fruits and regional foods, told us a lot about Sri Lanka, showed us temples.Recommended!

Мы провели в этом доме целый месяц и остались в восторге! Просторный, уютный, с прекрасной чилл-зоной у реки, где можно расслабиться и насладиться природой. Особенно понравилась крыша – идеальное место для занятий йогой. Кухня полностью оборудована, так что готовить было удобно. Кровати в спальнях комфортные, спалось отлично. До пляжа всего 5-7 минут пешком, а до серф-спота в Велигаме – около 25 минут. В целом, это был замечательный опыт, и мы благодарны хозяевам за гостеприимство!

Incroyable séjour chez Till et Claire. Un couple adorable qui a été aux petits soins avec nous. Nous étions 6 voyageuses et avons été extrêmement confortable dans leur logement avec air conditionné et salle de bains dans toutes les chambres. L’espace extérieur est magnifique. Ils ont aussi été flexibles avec nous pour le Check out. 100% recomendable

The house and grounds are beautiful. A short walk to the beach. Friendly and attentive staff. The perfect getaway spot for a couple.

Surrounded by wildlife—peacocks in the trees, monkeys, chipmunks, countless birds, and even a monitor lizard that occasionally visited the pool. Nalake and Chandana were exceptional hosts, caring for us with genuine warmth—especially when we unexpectedly fell ill. Just a 10-minute tuk-tuk from beaches and restaurants, the villa offers a peaceful escape that still feels connected. The sounds of everyday life—children playing, distant construction, a nighttime chorus of dogs—add to its charm, while nature weaves in with bursts of birdsong and the low rumble of distant thunder, making it the perfect place to rest and recharge.

Wir waren für zwei Nächte in einem Bungalow und es war der Hammer! Es war so groß und super gemütlich eingerichtet. Das Bett war sehr bequem und das Bad war riesig, alles war sauber! Wir haben uns rundum wohl gefühlt. Die Anlage ist super grün und schön und der Pool ist auch wirklich toll angelegt. Einen kostenlosen Tuktukservice von 10-19 Uhr stand uns jeden Tag zur Verfügung. Das Personal war äußerst freundlich und hilfsbereit. Das Frühstück kostet 2200 Rupies und ist ein ausreichendes Buffet. Es wird sowohl europäisches als auch lokales Frühstück angeboten. Wir können die Unterkunft nur empfehlen und würden gerne wiederkommen.

Beautiful place, wonderful pool, comfortable beds, relaxing atmosphere, helpful staff and enough space for everyone to chill out - what more could you ask for? And all just a 15-minute tuktuk ride from Galle Fort history or Ahangama bars.

Such a beautiful place with peaceful waterfront location, we stayed with a big group of 29 adults and south point villa and south point ocean was able to accommodate all of us very comfortably. We had a great time swimming in the pools and the ocean, taking sunset walks on the beach. The staff are lovely and work tirelessly to meet our needs, we had a wonderful stay and are already looking forward to returning next year.

We hadden een heel leuke tijd in Karin haar. Alles is perfect in orde en schoon! Leuk strand op wandelafstand en alles is gemakkelijk bereikbaar met de tuktuk driver. Sathish de house manager was heel vriendelijk en gemakkelijk bereikbaar bij vragen.

We had the most wonderful stay at Etamba House. This Geoffrey Bawa inspired property is beautiful and even better than the photos suggest. The rooms are huge and tastefully decorated with an elegant nod to Sri Lanka's past. The bathrooms are inside/outside with beautiful showers and plenty of space. The service from Michael and Shehan was exceptional. Breakfast is different each day with a set menu but they're flexible to your requests. the dinner that Talakshi prepares is wonderful (the portions are huge!). Can't say anything bad about this place. Go and stay there. Enjoy this beautiful home and the peace and quiet that surrounds it.

We absolutely loved our stay at villa rock, this is such a hidden gem! After the weekend we feel recharged and reconnected with nature. The hosts Thilina and Jack were so lovely, welcoming and on hand if we needed anything. It was great to hear their story of how they build the mud hut in Covid times with their own hands. It’s all self sustaining with the natural pool filled by a well which feeds into the garden, creating its own mini ecosystem which felt so magical to be a part of for the weekend. We felt like we had a little oasis in the jungle! The house has a little en suite bathroom and shower, a live roof and a basic kitchen with a hob, some pots and utensils which allowed us to make meals. There is a supermarket 20 minutes walk away and a bus stop right outside that making it easy to get back to Kalutara train station. Would recommend this to anyone who loves camping, nature and wants to unwind and recharge!

SeDi villa is a very special place to stay. The villa itself is beautiful, with such a lush backdrop. The bedrooms are very large, each with an impressive en-suite. The indoor-outdoor living is peaceful and helps you connect with the nature around you. We have been surprisingly unaffected by mosquitoes. The pool and garden have been enjoyed by all of us. Amila and his family are what has made our stay extra special. They have been very kind and helped us have a meaningful stay, giving us many Sri Lankan experiences.

Our stay at this Airbnb was truly exceptional. The property itself was beautiful, comfortable, and ideally located in Mirissa—but what truly set this experience apart was the host. Warm, attentive, and genuinely passionate about making our stay special, they went above and beyond in every possible way. Thanks to their thoughtful recommendations and unwavering support, we were able to experience Srikanta in a way that wouldn’t have been possible on our own. In fact, Mirissa—and Srikanta—feel incomplete without their presence and guidance. This stay was unforgettable, and we’re deeply grateful. There’s a lot to say but to sum up I would say to everyone that I met the hosts as strangers and now they are like a family to us. Must must recommended!!

Het is een magisch plekje om helemaal tot rust te komen. Je kan op avontuur in eigen tuin, we hebben meerdere prachtige foto’s kunnen maken van de wildlife wat er is. Iedere avond tijdens schemering zagen we de vleerhonden wakker worden en over ons heen vliegen. Voor liefhebbers van de schoonheid van de natuur ben je hier op de goeie plek. Het eten is fantastisch zowel ontbijt als avond eten. Ook staan er 2 leuke fietsen om de omgeving te verkennen. Niet twijfelen, boeken en genieten!

Staying at Lakmali's place in Runakanda Forest is definitely one of my top 5 favorite places in Sri Lanka. I’m so grateful to have had the opportunity to stay there, especially with my mom, as it was her first time in Sri Lanka,and she absolutely loved every moment of it! The food was beyond incredible! Each meal was showcasing the rich and flavorful Sri Lankan cuisine. The peaceful and serene surroundings of the forest made it the perfect escape. It’s a truly tranquil place where we could relax, and the location was just ideal for enjoying authentic local experiences. We had the chance to pick tea just a short walk away from the cottage, a unique experience that we’ll never forget. We also had the pleasure of meeting wonderful people, and the warm hospitality made our stay feel special. My mom and I both agreed that it was a stay we’ll cherish forever. I can’t recommend Lakmali’s place highly enough for anyone looking for a peaceful, authentic, and unforgettable experience in SL !

It was a pleasure to stay here. We had everything we needed. Nihal helped a lot: with transfers, sightseeing, food, house, etc. We didn't have any problems. He's a great host! I highly recommend it!

Wow wow, we had an incredible stay! The housekeeper Ari and his wife amita were so so kind, the oceanfront location was impeccable, we had an issue with the electric, but thanks to Rebecca’s quick and helpful service it was taken care of promptly and professionaly, I would highly recommend this property!

Diese Unterkunft war unser absolutes Highlight in jeglicher Hinsicht. Nicht nur, dass sie unsere hohen Erwartungen bei weitem Übertroffen hat, auch der Gastgeber Duminda, genannt Dudu ist ein ganz besonderer Mensch. Die Chemie hat von Anfang an gestimmt. Dudu ist ein äußert empathischer zuvorkommender Mensch, war allzeit zur Stelle und konnte uns viele wertvolle Tipps geben. Die vielen Tipps und Informationen zu Land und Leuten sowie zur Historie Sri Lankas waren äußert profund und wertvoll. Er fuhr uns täglich mit seinem Tuk Tuk wohin wir wollten und holte uns auch wieder ab. Auch bei einer Erkrankung zeigte er sich absolut fürsorglich empfohl uns die besten Ärzte und Apotheken und fuhr uns sogar zu einer ayurvedischen Professorin um Medikamte gegen Dengue-Fieber zu besorgen. Das Ambiente der Cabanas ist sehr geschmackvoll umgeben von einem wundervollen Garten der wie ein Biotop wirkt. Wir konnten allerlei Tiere und Pflanzen beobachten, die wir zu vor noch nie gesehen haben.

Absolutely magical place. If you are a nature lover, this is a dream come true. Me and my husband stayed in Ganguli for 10 nights and we loved every second of it. Gonapinuwala is close enough to the beach and nearest bigger town - Hikkaduwa, but at the same time it is far enough to be in a calm place, away from other tourists. The garden that surrounds the house is natural, so it feels like living in a beautiful jungle, with monkeys jumping on the trees and endemic birds sitting on the branches (Sri Lanka Grey Hornbill visited us!). But you shouldn't worry, it never feels unsafe, we've never seen any dangerous animals or anything like that. Chandana and Krishna are unbelievably helpful and kind, they just made us feel like home. They are always ready to give advice or organize transport. I hope they will read it, so Chandana and Krishna, let me thank you again! You made our trip even more exceptional. You are the best!

We stayed 5 days at this beautiful Airbnb right by the beach. It was the host's childhood home, and honestly, I can't imagine growing up somewhere so stunning. It rained almost the entire time we were there because of the monsoon, but the house was so perfect to watch the rain. The rain would pour off the roof like a fountain, and the beach was two two-minute walk away. The property had sooooo many trees, mango, bananas, olive, coconut, bay leaves, you name it, they have it. The hosts were gracious and allowed us to freely pick mangoes every morning. Everything at the villa made us feel right at home. We loved the caretaker uncle. The property was a little far off from central Mirissa (15 Minutes by tuk-tuk), so the beaches were immaculate and quiet. Most of the time, we had the entire beach to ourselves. We could hear the sound of the beach at night from our rooms at night. Recommended if you are travelling with a big group and wish to stay for a while at Mirissa.
