“Excellent stay. Refurbished typical house, new appliances. Everything is super charming and comfortable. Natália (Gonçalo's wife) welcomed us very well. There were 3 types of bread, ham, cheese, milk, juices, fruits and various other things waiting for us. I would definitely stay again! Tip: be sure to try the goat and maranhos, typical dishes of the region, which Natália serves in the family restaurant. What an amazing food!”

“We were delighted with everything. The house, modern, very clean, all amenities available as advertised. The very quiet place, with grocery store downstairs, and the very beautiful area, close to the river. There were six of us, everyone was well accommodated and we spent a very pleasant weekend with the family. Always available and very fast in the messages exchanged. It was even possible to check-in early and make lunch when we were only supposed to enter at 3pm. If we can, we will be back, for sure. 5 stars!!”

“This little rustic house in the middle of nowhere is a perfect place to have a calm, relaxing holiday retreat in stunning nature. Lavender and Rosmary are grown next to the house for your own use and the little cristal clear mountain river next to the house makes it into an almost fairytale kind of destination. You can sit by the water in perfect silence, watch the little fish and the blue kingfisher flying over the water. And you can have a refreshing swim of course. You definately need a car to get there. Manteigas, where all the hiking paths start, is 80 minutes by car. Around the house there are beautiful mountains with eucalyptus and pine tree forrests – great for an early morning jog, before it's getting too hot. Teresa, who is taking care of the place, is the most friendly and welcoming Lady – she gave us green beens and tomatos freshly grown in her garden and came over with a warm ovenfresh bread at the weekend. The place is small but clean with all the essentials you need. There are only two very tiny Supermarkets in the little village – bigger shopping is at least half an hour's drive away. And: There is neither WiFi nor any kind of mobile connection in or around the house. You won't be able to make phone calls or even send messages. But there is a little Bar at the village which has free WiFi. People everywhere have been extremly friendly to us, we chatted with the locals at the Bar and had a few beers there. Most people speak rather french than english, but everybody was getting out of their way to be helpful. It have been extraordanary four days of retreat at Renato's.”
