A nest in the mountains

Tucked on a wild fertile mountain a 400 year old barn was renovated by artists with natural materials. It is crooked, it is colourful, it is wild and will throw you in an another universe for the time of your stay. You have to be nimble on your feet as the tiny access path is crooked and on a slope, and even the floor in the house tilted. A full immersion in a new world for total disconnection.

My stay in Balmaseda was wonderful. Iñaki, the manager of the apartment, waited at the entrance of the building for us, very welcoming, to personally hand me the key. Something I really appreciated. The balcony overlooked breathtaking scenery of the mountains, just gorgeous. Bilbao and other tourist attractions and destinations were within very reasonable distances, which made it so easy for me to go to Bilbao during my stay to enjoy the city. Most importantly, Iñaki was very responsive to our needs. I would definitely book this place again. I highly recommend it!!

Fantastic rural location and accommodation. So nice to find somewhere like this in this day and age, authentic and comfortable. I was in awe of the scenery, having cycled through much of it to get here. Great communications ftom Nerea. Her parents lovely to, looking after me and chatting via Google translate. Most of all it's the location that makes this place a winner for me.

Carmen's house and especially the view is a pure dream come true! You feel immediately at home thanks to the cozy and modern design. The kitchen is equipped with everything one need and the bedrooms/beds are super clean. The view on the ocean from the master bedroom is simply stunning! You'll definitely need a car or taxi to get there, but otherwise it's an easy access to the beach and walkable surroundings. There are two restaurants right at the doorsteps and the food is amazing! We (family of 5) totally enjoyed the garden as well. A huge recommendation.

We were very satisfied with our stay! :) The place has beautiful interior design and is very well equipped—everything we needed was there. The only small downside was the parking; it's only possible on the surrounding streets. Other than that, everything was perfect. Highly recommend!

Amaia’s place was fantastic, I stayed there for 10 days and I enjoyed it very much. I came with my dog and I love that the garden is closed and that he could be free there. She also took care of him and treated my dog as if he was hers :) The apartment is super comfortable, very well equipped, and super cleaned. I arrived on a Sunday and Amaia provided me with some eggs and bread so I didn’t have to go out after a long day of driving. I will definitely come back, my time there was lovely.
