Holiday rentals with a kayak in Alger County

We have waited for this house to come available for almost 30 years and it did not disappoint!!! Sarah and Bob are amazing to work with and the house is a hidden gem deep in the woods. The house has everything you need for a long stay. The Wi-Fi is high speed and the smart Tv is easy to work with. The views are picturesque and endless. It is close to a ton of riding trails and the thunderbowl. There is 35 lakes within 20 miles of this house and the best fishing river for browns and brook trout just down the road a mile. This is a must stay for the area!!!

This is a wonderful space for a relaxing and fun vacation! The upstairs is like a penthouse with a great view of the lake and an entertaining ping-pong table. The two full baths are a real bonus and there is plenty of space for guests to spread out and have privacy. We loved having a full kitchen, including dishwasher and large refrigerator. Communication with the host made for an easy check in and check out. Everything was really clean, and the location for enjoying everything Grand Marais has to offer can’t be beat!

This is a great spot to stop and rest and enjoy the peaceful surroundings. The home is exactly as described and is comfortable. It was just two of us but there are lots of beds for a family. Nice fire pit right on the water. Walkable to the local brewery and coffee shop.

We enjoyed our time in the north woods. Beautiful views from the decks. The house was well kept, very comfortable accommodations, and well stocked with pots/pans/utensils, as we prepared all our own meals. Did not use grill, but propane was available. Wifi met everyone's needs. Would stay again.

This might just be the nicest airbnb we've ever stayed at. This is about 20 minutes from Munising right in a beautiful forest and on a gorgeous small lake. If there wasn't so much to do in the area, then I would have been happy to never leave the property. The space is one huge room.There is a microwave and mini-fridge and gas grill. But remember to bring your own dishes/flatware as there is not a kitchen. We enjoyed stargazing and then coming in and watching movie with the fireplace on. Keep in mind that the wifi is a bit slow. So keep that in mind if you plan to have a working vacation. The listing states that there is "some shared space", however the only shared space is outside. The space itself is totally private and the hosts never came down to the deck in front of our space. If you are looking for a peaceful and beautiful spot in one of the most fun areas of the UP, then this is the place. I suggest arriving before it gets dark. It is a few miles down a dirt road in the woods.

The host made things very easy and responded quickly to the couple of questions we had. The house was clean, welcoming, and comfortable. It shows age in a couple of spots but is nicely maintained, with appliances and beds that seemed new. The little neighborhood was very quiet. It is a short walk (across a busy road) to a beautiful beach on Lake Superior and an easy 10-15 minute drive into Munising. We found it a great choice for exploring the area and an excellent value.

Of cabins such as this it is often said, “Once you’re here you won’t want to leave.” Reason number one is that it’s an extremely clean, well-kept, and comfortable cabin. The sort of place you feel good about returning to at the end of the day. The second reason is the washboard and potholed Mirror Lake Road. Driving out and back in once a day is more than enough.

It was a very peaceful place to stay and relax. We really enjoyed kayaking and fishing on the lake.

As always, this was a perfect stay! We love this place and will be back!

We had a great time!! The view from the deck was beautiful, sitting by the fire at night under the stars was amazing! Definitely bring your bug spray, but otherwise it was great! We also really appreciated the accessibility of the home, despite the two small steps to enter the home, my mom had no difficulty getting around the home or using the bathroom/shower! We would definitely stay again 😊

The house worked perfectly for our snowmobile group of 4 couples! Very spacious- plenty of room to hang out all together, and the lower level living room was a nice bonus. The huge mudroom was perfect for all our gear and easily accessible from the driveway where we parked our snowmobiles overnight. Plenty of parking too- all 4 trucks and trailers fit nicely. The house itself is very nice and clean, and the winter view of the lake is beautiful! Convenient location 1/2 mile from general store with gas, and very close to the trails. Highly recommend and hope to be back someday!

We had a great stay! Very nice cabin for being 100 years old. Everything we needed.

Had a great time at Heather's rental. I thought it was the best location of the cabins in the resort. The cabin had a wonderful view of the lake, was clean and had what we needed for our stay. The Internet was a little spotty, but I really didn't expect much for that location. It was fine for checking emails. The other item to note is that the beach is downhill. Not sure why it took my wind, but it did. I like to think it was the sand and steepness of the hill and not my age/fitness. It's fine to walk, but launching personal kayaks was a chore. Close to Au Train falls (definitely go see), Lake Superior, Christmas and Munising if you want to go out. I would definitely rent here again and I hope soon.

Perfect stay! It’s exactly as described! It had more room inside than we expected even. Everything on the grounds was cleaner than expected and they were in the process of updating/adding to the grounds it appeared. Check in was smooth and easy. We loved the stay!! It was within 20 minutes of the things we were there to do. Two night stay with 5, 7, and 9 yo kids who just loved it as well. The bathrooms were clean! Definitely pack bug spray, saw some of the biggest mosquitos! We also saw chipmunks and turkeys from the porch.

We loved everything about our stay here. The added conveniences in the campground store turned out to be just what we needed. I want to come back to the Pictured Rocks area to do more exploring and stay here again. Definitely recommend if you’re looking for this type of accommodation.

Amazing location will stay again

Perfect getaway steps from the water! With the no fuss cabin and the communal amenities this is a great place to stay for a long weekend, and would be great for a longer stay as well with a full kitchen and dining table. Very quiet and peaceful! We would love to come back again!

Our family had a wonderful time! We enjoyed fishing and reading by the lake everyday and there was a beautiful hummingbird that would come and visit too! Our son enjoyed swimming, kayaking as well as finding frogs and turtles. The house is in the perfect location for exploring pictured rocks and the plentiful waterfalls!

Very nice place, everything was easy and convenient. Would definitely stay here again.

Omar’s was a fun place, so much to do down at the lake for my 3 teens. The lake was perfectly clear and clean. Very peaceful little cabin. About 15 min drive into Munising. Sarah is extremely generous and helpful on things to do. We would stay here again!
