Family-friendly holiday rentals in Agios Nikolaos

We have just had the most gorgeous family holiday at Villa Belle Helene . It is the perfect villa equipped to the highest standards both inside and out and exceeded all our expectations. Inside is spacious and all the rooms have excellent air conditioning which was very welcome in the heat. We spent a lot of time enjoying the outdoor areas, especially the pool and jacuzzi which were perfect to cool down in the heat and to enjoy. The sheltered area outside the lounge is perfect for eating and BBQs and the raised outdoor seating area with TV provides the opportunity to unwind in an evening. It is 10 mins walk up to Old Hersonnissus which has a lovely square with Tavernas and bars. Hiring a car is worthwhile to explore the island further but not essential as its easy to book taxis. Eleni and her family are absolutely lovely, they could not be more helpful and made us so welcome. We would absolutely recommend this villa and would love to stay again if we go back to Crete.

La villa était superbe, décorée avec beaucoup de goût ! Le linge de lit et serviettes étaient impeccable de très bonne qualité : Guy Laroche. La cuisine était assez bien équipée : nous avons eu pendant quelques jours un chef cuisinier sous la recommandation de Stefani et c’était juste incroyablement bon et belle découverte. Le petit village à côté est très mignon et non loin de la villa : ce qui était pratique. La villa est idéalement bien située. Nous pensions que la villa était dans un endroit un peu « seule » mais ce n’était pas totalement le cas; ce qui nous a fait un peu peur au début et finalement c’était très calme, agréable. Chez Antonis et Stefani nous nous sentons vraiment comme à la maison : c’était très propre à notre arrivée. Stefani nous a accueilli chaleureusement, elle a été une hôte très réactive et répondant de façon très efficace dès que nous avions une question ou un petit problème. Elle est souriante c’est fort agréable. Nous recommandons leur villa.

Die Unterkunft war super! Wir hatten eine tolle Zeit. Auch der Transfer überall hin war perfekt! Wir kommen immer wieder gerne!

Superbe endroit avec une jolie décoration. Une terrasse pour se détendre et prendre ses repas à couper le souffle. Manolis et sa femme sont très charmant et d une extrême gentillesse. L hospitalité crétoise au rendez vous, nous avons eu droit à des légumes, du pain, confiture , miel, des petits mets préparés.... Je recommande fortement cette adresse lors d un passage dans la région.

Accueil parfait, d'une très grande gentillesse et professionnelle.... La vue est superbe et le personnel toujours à l'écoute...restaurant très sympathique et excellent....et petit déjeuner parfait. Piscine accessible et très bien entretenue... Et les services supplémentaires que nous avons demandés ont été faits avec rapidité et compréhension.... 10 sur 10 à cette réservation ! Bravo

Very high class Villa, if you are looking for quality accommodation then look no further. My family consisted of 7 adults and an 18 month old, stayed for 8 days. Everyone loved it. There is a great traditional taverna only 10 minutes walk away, a big supermarket 15 mins by car and great beach again just 15 mins by car. We were there in May, spend most of the time around the pool and firing up the fantastic BBQ!

We had a wonderful stay here. Very peaceful. Often all you will hear are the bells clanging from the local goats. Delicious food at the onsite taverna. Beautiful lodge, with special touches such as a bottle of wine waiting for us to congratulate us on our wedding. Of note, this villa is very high up in the mountains. If you're flying into heraklian airport that evening, it's a long and dark drive up some very narrow and winding roads, so you may want to make the drive in the daytime. It's about an hour drive up/down the mountain to any other town so be prepared to drive. But the scenery is beautiful...majestic mountains.

Honnetement c'était magnifique, dès l'arrivé on tombe directement face à une vue extraordinaire, le logement était propre et bien pratique. Tout y est pour s'y sentir bien, merci Delphine (et Georgia qui nous a accueilli ) !

Beautiful spacious villa set set in the hills above Sitia. Cool, comfortable, stylish and well equipped inside , fabulous large outdoor area with terraces, eating area, shady green garden area and pool with loungers. We enjoyed a great week under cloudless skies chillling at the villa and visting Sitia (good selection of waterfront restaurants ) and surrounds. The best beaches are half hour or more drive away but well worth the trip. The local village Piskokefalo (a short drive away) has a great taverna with simple, good value local dishes. Mania our host was very welcoming, friendly and attentive. The welcome pack with home made Moussaka and the surprise little departure gift were lovely touches. Thank you . Highly recommended. PS The Richtis gorge walk is a great outing but wouldn't recommend driving down to Richtis beach - very scary !

Our stay in Agios Ioannis at Luisa’s traditional Cretan cottage was one of the best experiences we’ve ever had! How to sum it up in one review… To start, Luisa was so friendly and helpful when it came to giving us directions to get to the remote village, a flexible check-in time, and TONS of local recommendations. The house itself was spectacular. The patio views of the mountains and sea were absolutely breathtaking and the garden was a private and lovely spot to spend our mornings in. Truly a sacred place, we felt very at home and loved the traditional charm and being so close to nature. We were still within a 15 minute drive to lots of great beaches, restaurants, markets, and hikes, despite being so high up in the mountains. Luisa provided us with everything we needed to have a very special getaway, even inviting us over for dinner in our last night. Cannot thank her enough. If you are looking for the perfect place to experience Crete, this is it! We cannot wait to return!

We had the best time staying at the apartment. We were two adults and a child and it was perfect for us. Everything was exactly as in the pictures and the apartment is even bigger than I expected. Especially the beautiful patio. The small kitchen is well stocked and we had everything we needed. One can hear the road, so just bring your earplugs if you think it may bother you. There are mosquitoes nets and shades/curtains on all the windows which allowed us to keep them open at nights and sleep longer in the mornings. Other than the apartment itself, Pinelopi is the best host I have ever met on Airbnb. She took care of everything we needed, even before we asked. We felt right at home with her and we're very sad when it was time to go. We will always be happy to come and stay here again!

wenn man es ruhig haben will ist es der perfekte Ort, Stella gab auch gute Tips unter anderem eine Autovermietung (Tsoukos Rent a Car) was für mich sehr hilfreich war um so die Umgebung ( etliche Beaches und Sehenswürdigkeiten) flexibel zu erkunden. Restaurants, Bars etc im Hauptort Analipsi sind von der Wohnung auch in ein paar Minuten Fußweg zu erreichen. Alles in allem kann ich die Wohnung absolut empfehlen und ich würde auch immer wieder gerne dort buchen !

We spent a peaceful week in Sifis's house. The house, nestled among olive trees and overlooking Sitia and the sea, is as shown in the photos. It is very comfortable and perfectly equipped. We received a warm welcome, including a delicious homemade cake and raki. While a car is essential, it allows you to reach the beaches and hiking spots in the eastern part in reasonable time (1 hour max). Supermarkets are a 10-minute drive away and the road is easy to navigate on this section. Communication with Pantelis and Despina was particularly smooth. Their recommendations and the personalized map with places of interest were very helpful. A more than successful stay if you want to experience authentic Crete, far from the tourist crowds.

Eine der schönsten Unterkünfte in der wir bisher waren! Das kleine Haus ist abgelegen, komplette Ruhe & entschleunigung! Wir haben die Tage hier sehr genossen, die Terrasse unterm Haus lädt dazu ein in der Sonne zu liegen, zu lesen und den Ausblick zu genießen. Der Ausblick ist grandios, sogar vom Bett aus. Der Weg ist abenteuerlich und nichts für schwache Nerven mit dem Auto - extrem steil und eher für Geländewagen, wir haben es aber hingekriegt auch mit einem kleinen Mietwagen. Die Küche ist super ausgestattet und alles was man braucht ist da. Nach Mochlos ist es zu Fuß ca. 15 Minuten! Sehr empfehlenswert für alle die Ruhe suchen!

A really enjoyable stay at Platankia. It was extremely well equipped and had everything you would need and more, only thing that would help would a microwave - the kids really enjoyed the toys that were in the beach basket and kept them entertained without the need for a TV etc. Be warned wifi is a bit slow but great if you want to disconnect from the Internet for a while. Some really great restaurants, would recommend Vespas for Pizzas and Vitsalo is great for seafood. Everyone in town is extremely friendly and kind and Myrtos is always contactable if you have any other queries. We enjoyed being able to pick oranges and lemons and made enough lemonade to sink a battleship! I really enjoyed the hmock and the slide and swing is great for children. It is extremely private as you have large greenhouses on both sides but at the same time it is super easy to walk into town. Overall I would definitely recommend this place and would come back. The gorge is worth seeing and lots of other stuff

Nous avons passé un séjour mémorable à Kastri dans ce bel appartement avec une vue magnifique ! Les hôtes sont très accueillants et disponibles, le logement est parfait et le village très charmant et authentique. Nous vous recommandons vivement cet endroit !!

The place was simply amazing. Quiet, clean and beautiful. A nice pool and a beautiful big garden made the experience even better. Furthermore, Kostantinos was one of the most hospitable hosts I ‘ve ever had. Always responsive and helpful no matter the time. We would always come back and we recommend the place without any hesitation!

Audrey was really helpful sorting out transfers and a shopping for when we arrived. The villa and pool area is decorated to a very high standard. We would thoroughly recommend visiting it is a great holiday location

Linda's daughter Sorcha greeted us from start to finish and was a fantastic host. Aside from the fact that the property was as advertised in every way, some of the best parts of our trip came from her recommendations. Wir haben uns insgesamt sehr wohl gefühlt, waren immer gut betreut und die Wohnung entsprachvoll unseren Erwartungen. Man muss wissen, dass in den Abendstunden auch das ein oder andere Flugzeug nach Heraklion fliegt. Ein kleiner Supermarkt ist direkt vor Ort und zu Fuß in 2Minuten erreichbar. Ansonsten ist ohne Mietwagen ein schnelles Einkaufen oder Essen gehen mit öffentlichen Verkehrsmitteln nicht so einfach. Mit Auto alles kein Problem in fünf Minuten in großer Auswahl. Die Aussicht und die Wohnung sind sehr gut. Schwimmen vor Ort zu Fuß in fünf Minuten sehr gut möglich unterhalb der Wohnung. Diese war viel großzügiger als erwartet. Insgesamt kommen wir gerne wieder.

We had a wonderful time. The villa felt private even though there are two other villas next door. My friends and I loved the pool and how spacious the whole place was. We had stunning views of the nearby sea and town. Each bedroom has it's own bathroom. The only negative was the water pressure in the upstairs showers. Nota was very accommodating. She offered to clean the apartment during our stay and helped us arrange our hire cars. (From my group's experience, a car is highly recommended as taxis and public transport weren't great). The village, beaches and restaurants in the area were also great. Overall, my friends and I were very happy with our stay and would definitely come back.

Die Unterkunft in Kokkini Hani war insgesamt sehr schön. Alles war sauber und gepflegt, es war wirklich alles vorhanden, was man braucht – von Küchenutensilien bis hin zu Strandhandtüchern. Die Lage ist ein echtes Highlight: Direkt am Strand, man hört das Meer schon beim Aufwachen. Der Gastgeber war sehr freundlich, hilfsbereit und gut erreichbar, was den Aufenthalt noch angenehmer gemacht hat. Ein kleiner Wermutstropfen: Die Raumaufteilung ist sehr offen gestaltet, wodurch es keine wirkliche Privatsphäre in den einzelnen Zimmern gibt. Wer Wert auf getrennte Schlafräume legt, sollte das bedenken. Trotzdem eine tolle Unterkunft in traumhafter Lage – perfekt für einen entspannten Strandurlaub!

Ein echter Geheimtipp für alle, die Ruhe, Natur und Privatsphäre suchen. Die Unterkunft liegt idyllisch gelegen, umgeben von vielen Olivenbäumen und Bergen– perfekt zum Abschalten. Besonders gefallen haben uns der wunderschöne Pool, der gepflegte Tennisplatz und die erfrischende Außendusche – ein echtes Highlight nach einem heißen Tag in der Sonne. Alles war sehr sauber und liebevoll gestaltet. Magdalena war jederzeit erreichbar und hat uns alle aufkommenden Fragen schnell beantwortet. Wir haben uns rundum wohlgefühlt und kommen auf jeden Fall wieder! Eine Taverne, eine Tankstelle und eine kleine Bäckerei sind innerhalb von 15 Minuten zu Fuß erreichbar. Da es allerdings keinen Bürgersteig gibt, ist ein Auto auf jeden Fall zu empfehlen! Zum nächsten Strand, nach Heraklion und zum Flughafen sind es mit dem Auto ca. 15 Minuten.

Our stay in Crete with Evi & Giorgos was flawless. They gave us a very warm welcome, greeted us personally, despite an unplanned delay. They explained everything to us in detail, gave us tips on the surrounding area, told us exciting stories and were always quick to help us out. The villa is beautifully furnished with attention to detail. The kitchen is superbly equipped. The two bedrooms consisted of a double bed and two bunk beds. The beds were perfectly adequate and very cosy, you just shouldn't have any snoring flatmates 😄 The terrace and pool are super nice and great for relaxing. We were lucky that the second studio was not booked when we visited. So we had the whole terrace to ourselves. The beach is just a 20-minute walk away, and and there are cafés (tip: Mr Bean) and small mini-markets along the way. However, it is generally worth hiring a car. Ask Evi & Giorgos, if you need one 😉 In summary, our stay was worth every penny and we would definitely come back!
