Kid-friendly holiday rentals in Whangarei District

We had a great weekend at this house, the views were incredible and we loved sitting out on the deck. Lots of gorgeous spots nearby to visit. The house was reasonably well stocked and Alan was responsive to messages and sorting out any problems. Thanks for a great stay.

Great place to stay, perfect for the kids and close to the hospital. There is quite a bit of noise throughout the night being on a main road however we appreciated the touch of leaving earplugs.

We really enjoy our stay here, it felt like a home away from home. This place was exactly what we were after, very peaceful and relaxing. The views were out of this world! Would definitely be back, thank you to the hosts for making us feel right at home.

Perfect place, easy relaxing atmosphere

We had a fantastic stay at this beautiful Airbnb right on the water’s edge. The location was absolutely stunning – peaceful, scenic, and so close to nature. Our host was super friendly and full of helpful local tips. We especially loved the walk to the nearby surf beach and grabbing a morning coffee at the local campground. A perfect spot to relax and explore!

It felt like home from home, had all we needed, lovely private garden to chill out in after a day out, not far from main road, comfy chairs with choice of entertainment. We would love to live there!

Giles and Niamh were absolutely fantastic hosts, so very friendly and easy to talk to, easy to communicate with and made check in and check out easy. The place is tucked down a driveway and plenty of room for our car. The view was lovely from the unit and easy to go for a nice walk from, literally a few minutes to the Harbor. Also not far from town or local shops. It is immaculate inside and perfect size for two people. The bed had clean linen and super comfy. The bathroom was immaculate and the shower had great water pressure. The room was very warm and cozy, it did have an air conditioning unit but we didn't need it even through it was miserable weather as the unit is so warm. Nice little kitchen area, fridge, microwave, toaster, jug etc. Little lounge with a couch, tv and dining room table and chairs. Lots of local brochures on the table with places to visit. This will be our go to when we are back up in Whangarei as they were such lovely hosts with great accommodation.

Was a very great place to stay and had extremely accommodating hosts! Would recommend this place to anyone I know without hesitation! A++

A lovely place! I had been experiencing some stress recently, so this was a great place to come to unwind. I thrashed it out on the nearby Mt Manaia- handy being in the area! Recommended. Plus shops etc not to far away by car. Comfy bed, clean, and just generally awesome. I should have read the place name properly/ used my common sense....couldn't go kayaking because of the tide (was low in the late afternoon and morning)- my fault for not figuring that out!! Just have to come back then 😉 Thanks guys, awesome place.

Lovely one night stop off, Hayley’s place was really cosy and comfy with lovely personal touches! We would definitely stay again if we were in the area!

Great value for money in a good location. We didn't have the best weather so the Scrabble and Netflix came in handy. Lovely big clean bathroom and well equipped kitchen, it was just unfortunate the dishwasher was broken while we were there but it wasn't a biggie. Would recommend as a central location for day-tripping in the region.

Well I must say in our opinion, this is the best spot in Mangawhai Heads, beautiful views from the unit of the beach in front. The unit is awesome, with everything you need. We stayed as a couple, but the unit has room for a family. Easy access to beach and short walk to surf beach and walking trails. Lil welcomed us on arrival and showed us the amenities and the wifi password. The beds were neatly made as well as the sofa bed. Lil recommended a couple of walks that we could do and it was as awesome as she described, when we hiked to Smugglers Bay the next day. A faulty light bulb in the main bedroom was promptly replaced. The place was very clean and we had access to everything that we needed. We enjoyed our stay and we felt right at home and welcome. Highly recommended and we will definitely stay there when we are in the region again.

Leanne was a wonderful host; excellent with communication and very helpful. The accomodation has a stunning view and is beautifully kept - comfortable, clean and just right for our stay (a two-nighter). The location was excellent; close to the city which has wonderful restaurants - of note The Quay. Highly recommended.

Second time I have stayed here. A nice relaxing place in the country. Perfect for a get away. Having a washing machine and dryer is always a bonus. Chocolates on arrival, a welcome treat. I found the bed perfect for my liking. Will be back again, as good location for day trips up to Bay of Islands and other surrounding areas.

Very friendly, very tidy well looked after property

The most serene beautiful location. Felt like a million miles from anywhere but best brekkie and coffee just steps from the door and a general store a couple of minutes away with everything you could need. Bed to die for, luxury linens and towels. Possibly the cleanest place EVER. thank you gavin, a perfect stay in a beautiful location.

It was a lovely relaxing spot to spend a week in a rural setting with sea views out to the Poor Knights islands. A large property, accessed off a private road so very secluded and peaceful. Handy location half way between Matapouri Bay and Tutukaka, although you do need a car to go anywhere. Kitchen was very well equipped including basic supplies. Access to an indoor swimming pool, ability to charge the EV, and use of the laundry was a bonus. The hosts were very welcoming on arrival and explained the facilities and beach access path. Special touches were a bottle of wine and locally made nut brittle on arrival, and acknowledgement of our wedding anniversary which was during our stay. Annette and Bianca were super helpful and responded promptly to any questions.

Fabulous hosts, lovely accommodation. We stayed for three nights, and all loved it including our puppy. If we didn't have to be back home for things, we would've extended our stay by a couple more nights. I'm sure we will be back again though. Thanks for the lovely stay
