Cottage holiday rentals in West Rand District Municipality

We stayed with three couples at Ibis River Retreat and had two cottages. Both cottages were super private, have their own private jacuzzi, which we enjoyed a lot. We had a lovely Braai in the evening and took a nice walk down to the river in the morning. We also booked a couples massage down at the Pool, which we would 100% recommend! Already one night felt like a full holiday and we felt absolutely rested and will definitely come back next time we’re in South Africa! Especially being so close to Johannesburg Airport (50 minutes drive), but still feeling like out in the wild surprised me very positively!

If you want a break away in nature's best, this is definitely a place surrounded by beautiful lush trees, the tranquility from the river flowing, birds chirping and healing energy. The bonus is the private jacuzzi nestled on the ourside deck out on the elements.

Tanja's cabins were peaceful and private along the river and were well stocked with kitchen supplies. Everyone was very attentive to our needs. While there are several other cabins each felt as if we were all by ourselves. The rivers edge is walkable and fishable with many different water birds and we even saw an otter and kudu. This is a gem of a place (thw caretakers as well) and I highly recommend!

To say that the hosts are "accommodating" is an understatement! We were welcomed and catered for in every way from the moment we arrived! The farm is a beautiful place to fully rest and unwind from city life. Even though the dirt road (which only lasts 10km) is a little rough if it rains, it was not so bad to get through with our Toyota Corolla (low car) and Wayne & Eonora are also available to guide you through it. Also, rather take the R24 to get there from Magaliesburg as Eonora suggests so that you avoid the dirt road which connects to Koster road. Staying a full week was awesome! The splash pool, hiking trail and undercover fire place are absolutely stunning!!! We had everything we needed and more! We will definitely be coming back and hopefully soon! One of our TOP local holiday destinations, thank you Wayne and Eonora for a restful and lovely holiday!

The accommodation is spotless and a very good sized room. it's in a quiet Road with quick access to major routes and shops. Desirè was a friendly host who provided suitable feedback and was very accommodating. I would book again for sure as the place suited our needs perfectly.

We chose two nights at Bushwillow Cottage for some rest and recouperation after a long flight from Australia and a busy time catching up with family and friends. It did not disappoint! Nestled in a secluded spot surrounded by beautiful gardens and lovely bird life, the tasteful décor of the cottage was very welcoming. The cottage comprised a comfortable bedroom, bathroom ensuite, lounge and adequately resourced kitchen. An inviting patio, equipped with a barbecue, provided much needed relaxation as we took in the magnificent night sky. The Magaliesberg Mountains, Cradle of Mankind, Hartebeestpoort Dam and other attractions were within easy reach, making the cottage an ideal base. A stroll and picnic along the river bank on the property, added to the peaceful and soothing ambience. Our host, Duncan was helpful and friendly, and we valued his willingness to share his knowledge of the area and its attractions. We left feeling refreshed and very satisfied with our off-the-grid experience.

My review will be the same as the personal message we sent to our hosts, very welcoming & kind, the place is incredibly stylish & neat. The atmosphere as a whole was just tranquil...by far the safest & most convenient place to drive to considering we came back after hours on both nights. We've booked into places like Sugarbush estate in the past but the Foxhole offers a sense of peace & privacy that cannot be explained. And having the mall literally less than a 5 minute walk from the place was the icing on the cake.

Awesome, a truly unique "bush" experience with all the comforts of home, ... except television !! Which was awesome !! Lots for kids to do and explore. I loved the set-up of the cabin we stayed in "Vultures View". Really great .. all the bedrooms open onto the pool deck, as well as the massive kitchen doors which keeps everyone connected and relaxed. Go with comfort !!! Marty G.
