Cob Cottage

Channel the pursuit of pause in this one-of-a-kind earth house. The cozy retreat was hand-sculpted using local and sustainable natural materials, and features a central living space with cantilevered slab stairs leading to the loft bedroom. Guests have access to the entire cottage and surrounding property. We live in the neighbouring house, and are happy to give advice or answer questions to help you make the most of your stay. The neighborhood is quite rural and mostly agricultural with several farms and a small private vineyard. The home is a 10 minute walk from the beach and a 20 minute walk from a family grocery and deli specializing in local organic produce. Mayne Island has a small community bus. Times and routes are limited, particularly in the winter. It will stop at the driveway. We also have an official hitch hiking system with signed Car Stops where you can wait for a ride. Usually you don't have to wait long. We are happy to offer pickup and drop off at the ferry dock as a courtesy to encourage car-free travellers, on days when the community bus is not running. Please let us know ahead of time that you'll be coming without your own transportation, and we will make sure that either we or the community bus (which will drop you off at our driveway) are there to meet you when your ferry arrives. The BC Ferries terminals near Victoria and Vancouver are easily reachable via public transit from their respective airports and downtowns.

New, bright, main-level suite with separate entry and private patio. Enjoy our quiet neighbourhood, surrounded by parks and just a 1km trail walk to the beach. . Conveniently located with a 5 minute drive to the ferry, mall, waterpark, golf courses and restaurants, 30 minutes to the airport and 40 minutes to downtown Vancouver. The suite is cosy, with two queen beds and a fold-out sofa. We live in the main house which is attached but quite separate and are available if you need anything.

I loved this stay. There was convenient street parking right outside and the accommodations were very comfortable and cozy. A great place to return to at the end of the day. Nicole was very kind and accommodating. She provided some food items. I enjoyed the large bathroom, the comfortable bed, and the bright sunroom. I was never once disturbed here and felt like i had ample privacy, but this stay is a separated part of the main home. Such a pretty and convenient location, as well.

We had a wonderful stay! Would highly recommend. We stayed for 10 days and a couple things that were really helpful were an air fryer, rice cooker, laundry facilities, and a full size fridge. We will stay here again next time we are in the area for sure! The puppies were super cute too!! Thanks Adina and Dave!!!

We were overwhelmed with all the thoughtful details Valarie had provided, way above anything we were expecting. Many, many items that one might forget or not think they might need were provided. Bountiful selection of snacks and drinks also provided. Also advising us the outside lights would be on when we returned late from a wedding and being SO flexible on checkout so we didn’t have to spend hours at the airport. The amazing flowers blooming in the Ladner area at the time of our visit were so impressive. A lovely area for walking and very quiet but handy to grocery and restaurants. A wonderful experience staying here!

The suite was just as described. Clean and has all we needed. Lee was very responsive. The check-in directions on how to get into the suite were precise. There were little sign boards tell us where to find things such as extra towel etc. Would stay again! Thank you
