[1 of the TOP 10 Things to See and Do in the SF Bay Area] For people who love to hike ONLY. Especially on weekdays it can feel like you almost have this entire island to yourself--right in the middle of the Bay Area! Walk around the island and to the top. Bring lunch with you (though there is a snack bar with hot dogs).

Take the ferry out and enjoy walking or riding around the island. There are lovely views of the bay and a great spot to picnic.

Views of the bay, fire roads for walking and biking, and hiking trails. Definitely worth a trip, especially on a sunny day.

You can take the ferry here for great views from the water, and it's a lovely place to hike around.
