The Brown Dog, Barnes

Why locals recommend it

Tucked away in the back streets of leafy Barnes, this is a true neighbourhood gastropub, which is part old boozer, part modern dining room. Resident rescue dog Pip eagerly greets all visitors, both two-legged and four. All the menu is great, but the burgers are delicious. Grab one of the tables with padded seating benches if you want your dog to be able to sit next to you. Pip may also join you if you let her. There is also a large garden out back.

A local's pub, tucked away, with a lovely garden, for dining alfresco.

Great food, candle-lit, friendly (but don't go if you don't like dogs!)
