Planned in the 1970s as a model of environmental sensitivity on Sonoma County's northernmost edge, the garden is maintained by about 100 of 1,300 residents, who share equally in the work and the bounty. Yearly dues of $125 and a willingness to devote three hours a week are all it takes to open the gate to the garden's organically grown abundance. Unlike most community gardens, where members farm individual plots, the Posh Squash, from its first spade turn in 1975, has been one for all and all for one. If you pay a visit, respect the hard work of the gardeners, do not touch or uproot anything planted. And if you are here to drop your bio-waste for compost, strictly adhere to the guidelines.
