The Otavalo market is one of the most colourful Andean markets. Every Saturday locals host an outdoor market in Otavalo’s city Center. You will find great deals on alpaca wool products and hand crafted goods.

A classic stop for any tourist! The most famous artisanal market along with an amazing view of the mountains and lakes before you arrive into the city. You'll find a lot of tourists here looking for keepsakes and authentic gifts!

Otavalo is a town in the Andean highlands, province of Imbabura, about 90 km. north of Quito. On Saturdays there is an outdoor market. The indigenous Otavaleños are famous for weaving textiles, usually made of wool, which are sold at this market. In the main square hundred of artisans display their handcrafts. It's quite an interesting place where you can shop for souvenirs, woven crafts textiles, tagua jewelry, musical instruments, leather goods, and much more. Make sure to not pay full price as it's expected to 'regatear' which means to ask for a lower price! If you make a large purchase make sure to ask for a 'yapa', quechua word to ask for something free'
