This is a great place to start exploring Bellingham. I the fall, you can see the salmon running up Whatcom Creek. Catch a glimpse of the beautiful courthouse building, the waterfront, and the waterfalls in the middle of town.

Maritime Heritage Park is a beautiful green space in Bellingham, with Whatcom Creek running through it and an interpretive trail offering information about the salmon that spawn there. The Whatcom Creek Hatchery, run by Bellingham Technical College, is also situated in the park. Watch for fish as you walk the path along the banks of the creek and as you cross the footbridge. Chinook, coho and chum spawn in Whatcom Creek from October to December. Keep an eye out for pinks as well, as they return in odd years and will be spawning in August and September this year.
