If I had to choose a favorite trail in the park, this would be it. However, it’s typically closed from April to July due to peregrine falcon nesting, so check the park’s website before going. This is a 2.1 loop trail, and not for the faint of heart (or those with a fear of heights). It’s part hike and part climb, and is incredibly exhilarating for those who are feeling adventurous. This hike takes you to the summit of Champlain Mountain and offers some of the most beautiful views in the park. Get there EARLY to avoid crowds. If the trail is not open I recommend taking the 2.1 mile out and back Beechcroft Path Trail so you can still enjoy the views from the top. That trail is dog friendly, but the Precipice Trail is NOT.

The most challenging ladder trail in the park. It is usually closed in summer until August due to peregrine falcon nesting.
