The only hotel in London with a royal warrant from the Queen, it’s long been a Windsor family favourite. This is where Catherine Middleton spent her last night before the wedding and designer Sarah Burton snuck in the dress past the paparazzi. It’s perfect for a drink at any time of day. You never know who you might bump into. Try the queen’s tipple: one part gin to two parts Dubonnet, ice, and a slice of lemon. The Queen Mother started the trend.

Hotel and restaurant - the one in which the Middletons stayed before THE WEDDING. Lovely trad hotel with a garden. Good place for a posh lunch,and not too expensive - at lunch time! You need to book
