The Mountain Base | Homestay | Hiking | Experience

RituparnoRating, 5 stars3 weeks ago
The Homestay - Humble. If you're seeking peace and tranquility, you must come here. Sit by the window and all you see is the lush green panorama, all you hear is the endless chirping of birds. And when you see the clouds rolling in through the valley, you may never want to leave. The Host - Like a brother, he took care of us. Prakash bhai was there when our flight was hours late and we arrived post midnight. He did complain a bit, but that's his pahadi sense of humour. Never said no to any requests/demands. He offered us snacks+coffee+rum, and did not charge a single penny more, even though all of it was out of his meal plan. And he suggested us hikes/treks around Gurdum. This is where Chandan bhai comes in. The man not only cooked for us, but was also our guide on a short but thrilling hike to Dumbarkhola falls. Amenities - Basic. Clean room, delicious food. If you're a yak/pork lover, ask for it. 3 meals, 2 tea+snacks per day is offered at ₹600. Come here, rediscover yourself.

NorbuGakyil

SamarthRating, 5 stars1 week ago
Had the most amazing time at Norbu Gokyil in Darjeeling! The place is super peaceful, tucked away just enough from the town to feel calm but still close enough to everything. The best part though was the lovely family hosting us — all four of them were so kind, welcoming, and genuinely sweet. You really feel like you’re staying with friends rather than just renting a place. They were always happy to help, whether it was with local tips or just chatting over tea. And their three adorable dogs made the stay even better — super friendly and so cute! The room was clean, cozy, and perfect to come back to after a day of exploring. The food was also really good and homely — just what you’d want in a place like this. Would 100% recommend if you’re looking for a peaceful, heartwarming stay in Darjeeling. Already missing it!

Mountainlore Vacation Home (Bakshila)

PiyushRating, 5 stars3 weeks ago
Despite the chaos and traffic on the roads of Darjeeling, this place offers a sense of peace that feels just like home. It has everything you’d expect from a good homestay. The property is located slightly downhill from the main road, so reaching it by car can be a bit tricky, but it’s worth it. The view from the rooftop is truly amazing and adds to the overall charm. A special thanks to Anuj, the manager, for his constant support and prompt responsiveness throughout our stay.

Staying at Teesta Homestay was an experience to cherish. A perfect blend of warmth, comfort, and breathtaking beauty. From the moment I arrived, I felt at home, welcomed by the kind-hearted owner and the ever-caring staff. Their hospitality was as heartwarming as the serene surroundings. Nestled in an exotic location, the homestay offered a mesmerizing view that unfolded like a dream. Standing on my balcony, I was left speechless by the sheer magnificence of nature’s artistry. An ever changing canvas of mist kissed hills and tranquil landscapes. Every moment spent there was nothing short of magical, making it a stay to remember. Ahaan - Bright:Mellow:Blissful

SaiRating, 5 stars6 days ago
My wife and I were looking for a peaceful workation away from the city bustle, and we couldn’t have found a better place than this place at Takdah. Nestled in serene surroundings with stunning valley views, the stay had everything we needed — strong Wi-Fi for work, cozy corners to unwind, adorable furry friends, and the most delicious, homely food. What truly made our five-day escape special was the warm hospitality of our amazing host, Ramita ma’am, and the incredible kids at the stay, Ganga and Namrata. They went out of their way to make us feel at home, pampering us with kindness and mouthwatering meals. If you’re looking for a peaceful, rejuvenating workation spot — this is it. Thanks for hosting us Ramita ma’am. We’d love to vist again.

Daarapari - The art of Slow Living

ElinaRating, 5 stars3 weeks ago
Where to begin… Staying at Sristi’s farm was such an authentic and unforgettable experience. I had the chance to live alongside Sristi and her lovely family, and it gave me a genuine glimpse into their way of life. From the moment I arrived, I felt completely at home — Sristi has such a warm, welcoming energy, and we connected really naturally. She quickly felt more like a friend than a host. We shared some amazing moments together, including a trip to a beautiful river. There’s so much to do around the farm — whether you’re in the mood for hiking, exploring the nearby village (don’t miss the best samosa in West Sikkim!), or simply unwinding and soaking in the peaceful nature all around. And I can’t forget to mention the food — absolutely delicious, every single meal! Needless to say, I highly recommend staying here. It’s a special place, and one I’ll carry with me for a long time. Thank you Sristi!!! Until next time 🫶🏼

Pine VillageStay

I stayed at this beautiful Airbnb in Sukhiya Pokhari for 9 days with Manisha and Zikmi, and honestly, it was one of the most memorable trips I’ve had. From the moment I arrived, I felt at home—thanks to the wonderful hosts who were not just helpful but also incredibly fun, warm, and full of good vibes. The property itself is nestled in a peaceful village, surrounded by lush greenery and absolutely breathtaking views that made every morning magical. The food they served was delicious—home-cooked, fresh, and made with so much love. Every meal was a delight. Their hospitality was exceptional—every little need was taken care of with so much care and attention. i never felt like a guest, but part of their home. The memories I made here will stay with me forever. If you're looking for a tranquil escape with heartwarming hosts and stunning nature all around, this is the place. Can’t wait to go back!
