This is a 20-minute walk from the Ainu culture revival base, Upopoy, a symbol of ethnic coexistence, to the private lodging, Hanamanyakudarake, which is very charming. Our home is a calm, family-like room surrounded by walls designed in collaboration with Yumi Takeshi. It is a quiet residential area located about 15 minutes from Shirako Station, but there is a supermarket, drug store, convenience store, and a charcoal-grilled Shirako beef shop, a specialty of Shirako, just a 5-minute walk away. The living room has a large dining table and a handmade veranda, creating a space where guests can relax and gather. Nearby, surrounded by nature, is Lake Poroto, where you can enjoy skating and wakasagi fishing in the winter, and the scenery throughout the year. In addition, there are the ruins of the Sendai Domain Hirosegenshuku, which is open to the public as a nationally designated historic park. There is also a ski resort where even beginners can experience skiing, about an hour away by car. In our garden, 100 kinds of hosta grasses bloom in all seasons, and about 50 roses bloom. In the garden, there is a pizza oven where you can try making pizza, and a brick charcoal grill where you can try a barbecue.

Really great place to stay and its beautiful. I love that theres a convenience store right next to the house and the train station is just a 5 min walk away. Only downside is that it is too far from Sapporo and train tickets to sapporo from chitose is quite pricy to travel daily if you are staying here most days.

This place was very new. It was very suitable for my family of 6. The elderly can stay in the room at Level 1. The view was awesome from the living room. Importantly, there are 2 toilets which many airbnb dont have.

This was a clean and comfortable place to stay. Located above a yakiniku restaurant, it offered a convenient dining option though we did not dine there as it was pricey. The check-in instructions were a bit unclear as the promised PDF guide wasn't received. While the host was responsive and quickly clarified any questions, clearer initial instructions would have been helpful. The location is decent, but finding late-night dining options in the immediate vicinity might be challenging.

I stayed well for two days and went back. The convenience store was also close, so it was convenient. If there is only one suggestion, it should be explained that the type of heater cannot be used at the same time at check-in. A quiet, private hot spring stay in a small town. Noboribetsu was one of our roadtrip’s pitstop, but we decised to stay here in Shiraoi instead of an onsen hotel there (which is about an 18-min drive away) — and although we didn’t get to enjoy the luxury of an onsen hotel and service, this decision did not disappoint! The private onsen (both indoor and outdoor) was amazing. The sea view was stunning. The place was well-maintained. The convenience store, which was right in front, surprisingly sold BBQ utensils too, so we were able to enjoy a yakiniku together. The kitchen was also well-equipped with plates, bowls, cutleries etc. Don’t expect much from the location or surroundings though — it is afterall a small population town by the coast. Overall, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay!

It was a great place to stay! We also entered the hot spring with our children, but it was spacious enough and the entire house was spacious enough for 8 people to stay comfortably, and the whole family was very satisfied. Especially, my sister's family loved it so much that she wanted to spend more time in Hokkaido next time. Especially revolving sushi in Shiraoi (the only one?)It is an impressive level of value and delicious, so we'd love to stay here again. Thank you so much!
