Places to stay in Wigmore
Lovely open plan with bedroom on mezzanine floor. Living room with log fire, kitchen area and wet room. Close to amenities shops, bars, restaurants - 7 minute walk down the hill. Also 5 minute walk from parkland with river access. Towels not inc.
We have a lovely converted barn available to rent for short and long stays. Adjacent to but detached from The Old School House [this sleeps 8 comfortably and is also available to rent - see separate entry], the cottage was originally the stables and barn for the headmaster and pupils of Lady Hawkins School (founded 1632) , it then later became the music room. We converted it in 2008 into a quiet self-contained open-plan living space, keeping the original beams and features, including the school bell tower. Inside the cottage is light and airy with white stone walls, oak floors, a Shaker-style kitchen area and galleried bedroom. The wood burner is fuel-efficient and keeps the whole place toasty when needed. The porch, where you can leave dirty shoes, wellies etc, opens into the kitchen-living room area. The kitchen has a Belfast sink, wooden worktop, electric hob, microwave, toaster, fridge. The beamed, high ceiling living room area has the wood burner, oak table and seating, sofa, double sofa bed, chair, coffee table, lamps, bookshelf and books. Also on the ground floor is the tiled wet-room with shower, W.C and basin. Painted wooden stairs lead up to the open-plan galleried bedroom with southerly views across the Arrow Valley. Divided by a cross-beam into two sleeping areas, there is one with a low level double bed and the other with two single futons suitable for children but could be used by adults. All bedlinen (100% cotton) is provided. Digital TV & DVD, radio and broadband connection is provided. A folder of information about what to see and do in the local area is also provided. We provide guests with complimentary tea, coffee, sugar and milk. 1 basket of logs is provided for the wood-burner sep-mar otherwise logs are available to purchase at a reasonable price. The price is for up to two people for the property per night, minimum two nights. Weekly rates (from £325) and stays of more than two nights are discounted - please contact us. Note on accessibility: there are two stone and rather uneven steps up to the porch of the cottage. Upstairs to the sleeping area is accessed via a short but fairly steep, curved wooden staircase. Guests have off-road parking for one vehicle in front of the cottage. When the main house is not occupied you are welcome to explore and chill-out in the large garden which has plenty of outdoor seating. Aud, who lives nearby and manages The Cottage for us while we are away, is always welcoming and ready to assist or answer queries but she assumes most guests prefer to be left in peace. So, interaction is minimal unless you want it to be more, in which case don't hesitate to contact her. Kington (population 2,500 or thereabouts) is a genuinely unspoiled and unpretentious historic market town on the English-Welsh border. Our 12 year old son, who currently lives in Nairobi, describes it as, 'fun, friendly and safe'! Until the 1960s it was a major hub for sheep and cattle drovers (the main street and medieval alleyways with their high burgage walls are visible remnants of this former life) and it still serves what is a largely rural farming community and it has retained a weekly livestock market (Thursdays). But nowadays visitors come all year round and Kington provides a welcome and down-to-earth escape from urban and city life... You won't find a trace of a Costa coffee shop here, instead there are local independent cafes and shops (including a deli, organic vegetables, wet-fish, bakers, butchers), and traditional pubs (some brew their own ales), plus an award-winning local museum. There's plenty of good food and drink to be found, much of it locally produced. Surrounded by the naturally beautiful Welsh border countryside, on foot or by car there is much to enjoy locally. We love a walk on Hergest Ridge along the Offa's Dyke Path (the cottage is at the foot of the ridge) across to Gladestry, or a cream tea sitting outside on the Edwardian verandah at Hergest Croft Gardens (6 minutes walk away), or a pint by the fireside at The Harp in Old Radnor. From late May onwards almost every weekend there is a local festival or fete to be found and November and December weekends are usually busy with local Christmas Fairs. Well-known local festivals and events include: the Hereford Art Week (early September), the Rough Ride Cycle Event (August), Hay Literary Festival (end May-June), How the Light Gets In (Globe Hay end May -June), The Royal Welsh Show (Builth July), Sheep Music (Presteigne), Presteigne Music Festival, Titley Jazz Festival, Kington Vintage Show (mid August), Kington Show (a major agricultural event held in early September), Kington Walking Festival (September). Kington is ideally situated for visitors to mid-Wales and the Marches, walkers, canoeists, cyclists. It is in easy reach of Hay-on-Wye, Hereford, Leominster, Rhyader, Builth Wells, Brecon, Presteigne, the Black Mountains and Golden Valley. And Aberystwyth and the coast are just 59 miles away and easily do-able in a day. We love it here. Nearest airports : Birmingham International (74 miles), Bristol (92 miles), Cardiff (93 miiles), Manchester (119 miles) and East Midlands (114 miles) - distances vary but for all allow 2.5 - 3 hours. Nearest railway stations: Leominster (15 miles), Hereford (20 miles). From these there are direct trains to Birmingham, Cardiff, Manchester, London, Fishguard/Holyhead. Local bus services connect Kington to: Hereford, Llandrindod Wells, Presteigne, Lyonshall, Eardisley, Weobley. Local taxi services are available (best to pre-book) and recommended if arriving by train in the evening hours as buses stop running quite early. A car is not essential. Do ask if you need travel advice or local taxi numbers. Complimentary tea, coffee, milk and sugar are provided. Plus 1 big basket of logs for the wood-burner per 3 nights stay. More firewood can be purchased and is available on site. Children are very welcome but note the property is open-plan with an upstairs galleried sleeping area. Access to the stairs is open, there is no stair-gate so we would not recommend it for mobile toddlers. A high chair is available on request - please notify us in advance. One well-behaved dog, with own bedding, is welcome at an extra cost of £15. Dog owners are requested to discuss arrangements with us beforehand so as to avoid any misunderstandings. Weekly cleaning and change of bedlinen for extended stays. The price per night is for up to two people, minimum two nights. Weekly rates are available, from £325 - please contact us. The Cottage may be rented separately or together with The Old School House (4 bedrooms, sleeps 8 comfortably - see separate entry). Please contact us for discount rates during low seasons or if booking the Cottage and Old School House together.
  • The photos really do not do justice to how beautiful the place is. Incredibly cosy and relaxing at night with the wood burner going. Recommend the local owl center. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Many thanks.

  • We stayed at Wilde Lodge for my 30th birthday and had an absolutely amazing time! The house is beautiful and spacious and great for a party especially the outdoor barn. The views surrounding the property were unreal and we were blown away with how stunning it was. The little touches at this property such as the outdoor firepit, hot water bottles and bath salts etc really made it a special place to stay.

    Christie2019-12-15T00:00:00Z
  • Thank you Jemma for an amazing weekend! Wilde Lodge was the perfect place for a big get together for old friends. Beautiful property and location, rooms were so comfortable and Jemma went above and beyond to make sure we had a great stay. We would recommend having a catered meal by Jemma & team as it was a special extra to the weekend. Already planning our next trip!

Xidong is a cottage converted from an old stone and timber cowshed with a Japanese theme. It sleeps two people and has a hot-tub in the enclosed garden, which is available to use all the year round. More information and details of the cottage can be found on our website.
The cottage is spacious and serene with an oriental flavour. The kitchen is well appointed and there is an amazing and unusual wet room. Pets are welcome and are charged £20 extra per animal.
The cottage is situated in a very quiet and tranquil area of South Shropshire. The scenery is stunning; there are interesting places to visit from castles to gardens, woods and forts. There are plenty of excellent restaurants being near to the old historical food centre of Britain - Ludlow. You can walk for miles on well signposted footpaths and cycle either on the quiet lanes or mountain biking in the local forestry.
  • My partner and I had a fantastic weekend away with our little dog I think he loved it just as much as we did! The Xidong cottage was the perfect little weekend getaway if you’re looking for peace and quiet and relaxing atmosphere. Also they left us fresh milk, eggs and freshly baked sourdough bread which was such a lovely touch! Plenty of amenities in the cottage including tea, coffee and sugar! I would highly recommend staying here even better that you can bring your dogs too! Thank you for a lovely weekend we will definitely be returning again soon!

    Evie2020-03-09T00:00:00Z
  • I would highly recommend this beautiful place to anyone looking for piece and quiet.

    Damon2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • Perfect place for a relaxing break. Really appreciated the homemade goodies and underfloor heating. Couldn't have asked for a nicer week with great weather and scenery. Thank you very much

    Abbie2020-02-07T00:00:00Z
  • Thank you for the perfect escapism. The cottage was perfect for two and very cosy with the log fire and heating flooring for us and the dog. We would definitely return for another trip and recommend it to friends.

    Sadia2020-02-03T00:00:00Z
  • Xidong is a beautiful and stylish little cottage. Great for this time of year with the fire place and hot tub! Becky was a fantastic host, she provided us with fresh eggs/milk/bread and even picked us up from the train station! We spent most of our time exploring the country side and ending up walking for miles! Highly recommended to everyone!

    Alexandra2020-01-30T00:00:00Z
  • We had a very relaxing stay at this querky barn conversion, very clean inside and out. The hot tub was fantastic and the dog loved the underfloor heating. There are some nice walks in the area if you are into that.

    Adi2020-01-12T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely place! The cottage is a lot larger than it appears on the photos and the surroundings are beautiful! Hot tub was an added bonus! Thoroughly enjoyed our stay!

    Amy2020-01-02T00:00:00Z
  • This cottage is the perfect little place if you’re looking to relax and escape for a short break. They’ve utilised the space so well and the underfloor heating meant we were toasty during our December stay. The garden is absolutely glorious and must be a real sight in warmer weather! Becky was the perfect host, respecting our privacy despite being so close by, with a lot of attention to detail, leaving bath robes for the hot tub and butter, milk and eggs on arrival. A home away from home!

Beautiful cottage available to rent in Ludlow. The house is down a quaint pathway with an imposing Church at the end of the road. The cottage itself has a lovely patio to the front which is drenched in sun throughout the day. Inside you will find a bright yet cosy lounge with a fantastic log burner & TV to relax with on the evenings with a wine or two! There is also a well equipped kitchen diner. Upstairs there is a large main room & a small 2nd bedroom with bunk beds & a shower room.
The house is located in Ludlow which is a market town in Shropshire. A short walk away and you will find yourself in the center with the busy market every Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday and a multitude of shops, pubs and restaurants. There is also the River Teme where you can enjoy free fishing - perfect on a summers day! The town was described by Sir John Betjeman as "probably the loveliest town in England". We are confident you will love Ludlow as much as we do but should you need any recommendations or ideas of what to do just ask. :)
There is a lovely cafe just around the corner for breakfast and also a Chinese takeaway should you wish to have a night in
  • Great place for the weekend. Everything was nice and clean, it is only few minutes from the center. Loved the eggs and crumpets we got as a check in present. Would recommend.

    Weronika2020-03-09T00:00:00Z
  • A great little cottage. It was super cosy and very warm with heating as well as the log burner. The cottage is in a very private area as there is no road in front of it, so you feel very safe. We didn’t know what to expect from Ludlow as a town, but it was great. Plenty to keep you occupied when you decide to venture out. We will definitely be coming back.

    Kirsty2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • This is a homely, charming little cottage, situated in a real gem of a town...we loved every minute...

  • Really lovely stay, nice touches and fantastic location.

    Sarah2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely, cosy and quiet place. Excellent location, short walk into the centre and to the castle. Great value for money, everything we needed, with extra added touches too. Will stay longer next time. Thank you!

    Jamie2020-02-20T00:00:00Z
  • Beautifully clean and in a perfect location. Lovely touches too with a bottle of wine and crumpets for the morning!

    Helen2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • Fabulous little cottage in a great location for exploring Ludlow and the surrounding areas. Hosts are very quick to respond to any questions or queries and were flexible on our checking in needs too. Thoughtful touch of breakfast items and an unexpected bottle of wine too! Extremely clean and comfortable. Highly recommended and would happily stay here again. A great experience for a first time Airbnb-er!

    Kim2020-02-15T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely home, thoughtful touches by host and quick responses. Clean, homely and cosy would definitely stay again. The wood burner was a lovely treat on a stormy weekend. Ten minute walk to Ludlow. Very handy. Ludlow is a lovely town with good choice of pubs and places to eat.

My house is in pretty countryside, open fields, riverside & good walking. Well stocked village shop close by. Good pub 1 mile. The house is old & full of character with flagstone floors, open fire, exposed stone, comfortable beds, extra large bath, central heating. The pretty enclosed garden has a hot tub which is perfect for lying back & star-gazing with bats flitting overhead. Ideal for couples & families (with children) & furry friends (pets) £50 ref deposit if over 2 dogs.
The cottage has a minimum stay of 3 nights. However, it can be available for 2 night stays MIDWEEK ONLY provided guests bring their own linen and towels.
South Shropshire is chilled and laid back. You are unlikely to be bothered by anyone.
  • I can't even describe how lovely the house is until you see it. The house is full of charm and character. Ali kindly leaves very useful notes for house quirks but we had no issues. The garden is spacious for the dogs and enclosed. The hot tub was a lovely touch (despite it being a little different) Thank you so much

    Hannah2020-01-26T00:00:00Z
  • A little gem. Such a rustic, cosy cottage with everything that we needed. The hot tub was a huge bonus and loved the log fire. Really good value for money. Ali has been really great with communication and has been really helpful throughout. Would definitely recommend.

    Charlie2020-01-04T00:00:00Z
  • Had a lovely coupleof nights at Ali's. Cottage is beautiful and quaint, communication with Ali was great, house was very clean and tidy. Lovely addition of the lazy spa, and open fire. Very quiet location but only a drive away from villages and towns. House was warm when we got there, and had no issues with the heating while we were there.

  • A wonderful cottage for a peaceful break, had everything you'd expect with a little bit more.. beautiful surrounding countryside and villages.. a perfect get away place.. 👌

    Pam2019-12-27T00:00:00Z
  • Absolutely lovely stay! Surrounding and cottage was very charming and quaint albeit quite chilly!! Ali was very good at responding to messages and the lovely little touches made the stay!!

    Hannah2019-12-12T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely cottage. Has everything you need and is close drive to the town. A little cold but that was to be expected so warm cosy layers are a plus.

    Belle2019-12-02T00:00:00Z
  • Fantastic little place. Loved every minute of it. The 100 house pub up the road does some great food and beer. The supermarket in Craven arms isn't far, and extra logs are cheap as chips there. Ludlow and the Shropshire hills are both a short drive. A stunning area indeed.

    Matt2019-11-08T00:00:00Z
  • A beautiful, authentic country cottage. With amazing character and modern amenities you get the best of everything. The hot tub is a luxury addition to an already stunning home. The nearby village has some lovely walks and views but you need to drive for a pub really. Clun castle is well worth a visit and the scones from the postcard cafe are lovely. Fish & chip supper from the kangaroo inn was also delicious. Ali is a wonderful hostess, made sure there was wood for the fire and the hot tub was ready to go. Great communication and a perfect location.

  • We spend 3 nights at Richard & Becky’s place in March. It is a lovely little cottage, that has everything you could need for a few days away. We loved our stay, seeing the animals in the day and sitting in the hot tub in the evenings. The local area is lovely. Once at the cottage you feel a million miles away from civilisation, as it is so peaceful but the nearest village is about 30 minutes walk (or 5 minute drive) down the lane. The village has a couple of pubs, a tea room, chip shop and village store. Richard & Becky are excellent hosts, very knowledgeable about the area and nothing seemed to much trouble for them. However the real stars of the show are the sheep & goats. Would highly recommend.

  • A wonderfully charming cottage in a picturesque location. Booked for a quiet girly weekend and we couldn’t have asked for more.

    Sarah2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • Fab space! Loved the hot tub!

    Louise2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • Great stay - hot tub and sauna were great! Richard and Becky were so helpful.

    Hannah2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • This is the second year we’ve stayed at Jay Farm, and once again we had the best, most relaxing time. The cottage is spotlessly clean, as it the hot tub. Special little touches like fresh bread, milk, and eggs instantly make it feel like a home-from-home. Richard and Becky are always available to help, and go out of their way to do so. Already planning out next visit!

    Stephen2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • Richard and Becky's place is the place to go if you want some real switch off time. The house itself is extremely cosy with an easy to light fire, comfy sofas and a cute kitchen to cook whatever you need. The views are simply magnificent and lots of places to go out and walk or run (like I did) lots of animals to see on the farm. With all that wonderfulness the hot tub and sauna were an added bonus and like the house very clean. Would definitely recommend for a romantic couple getaway or a family trip to the country. Local shops, pubs and garage within a short drive away and lots of other places to easily get to.

    Kerry2020-02-10T00:00:00Z
  • Property was as advertised, perfectly clean and included everything you needed for a lovely stay. The facilities were just what we wanted and hosts went above and beyond to make us feel welcome and at home. Would reccomend to anyone wanting a quiet stay away.

  • A tranquil, cosy cottage to help you switch off in the lovely countryside. We absolutely loved our stay at Richard and Becky's place - sparkling clean, lots of space to relax in and the most perfect hosts. Richard gave us so much information of the local area - which was helpful and definitely needed as it's quite remote. The log burner and the hot tub/sauna was a main highlight. Our toddler also loved the courtyard area to play in and the animals on the farm. We would love to go back in spring as we didn't have the best weather and it was mud galore, but it was all part of the fun. Highly recommend.

  • One of the joys of Airbnb is the individuality of the stays, and I've stayed in a few Airbnb now and have always been impressed. I have to say though Airbnb really undersells this place. It's so much bigger, grander and interesting than we expected. Richard and his wife were exceptional hosts (even offering to put us up an extra night at no additional cost when we had a small disaster with one of our cars). Highly highly recommended. Great for get togethers in a secluded but accessible part of the UK. Lovely roaring fires to keep you warm. A breakfast ready to be cooked awaits you on the house! Even a sauna which came as a surprise. Like I say, pictures don't do this place justice, and I can't stress enough how welcoming Richard and his wife were to us. Genuinely nice people; a genuinely lovely stay!

  • If you are looking for a stylish rural retreat then look no further than this fabulous property. The house itself is a delight to stay in and the Shropshire hills are stunning. A brilliant place to meet up with friends, forget real life and unwind. I hope to be back in the not too distant future. Many thanks Richard! Until next time...

  • Beautiful house in a glorious location, with every home comfort. Richard's welcome was lovely, and so helpful to know everything about fires etc. Now wishing we'd had a longer stay.

  • What an amazing location! It's a little chilly inside but the abundance of fires inside make it a very cozy place to be. Perfect for families and groups... I would absolutely recommend this!

  • The perfect bolt hole. We needed a weekend of peace and quiet after a crazy start to the year and this was absolutely perfect. Janet had thought of everything, all the little touches, and the space itself is light, stylish, immaculately clean and so homely. At night it’s incredibly cozy with the log fire going. Can’t recommend this enough - thank you again for such a thoughtful and homely stay.

    Dominique2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful just like the photos. Faultless. A wonderful place to stay and explore castles and try fine food restaurants! Fantastic host! Thoroughly recommended.

  • Happy New year! We had an amazing few days break between Christmas and New years. Such a lovely place to be, the fire was so good on the cold winter evenings. So homely, comfortable and tranquil. We were left to get on and enjoy our time together, but Janet was on hand if we needed anything. Thank you both so much. See you again soon, Neil.

    Neil2020-01-01T00:00:00Z
  • Had a lovely overnight stay with Janet. Lovely space with a log fire and a very comfy bed. Nice breakfast options too. Easy check-in and very friendly.

  • Had a lovely stay at the lodge. Such a cosy space with a lovely bathroom and kitchen too! Good walks around the area and short drive to Ludlow if needed, definitely recommend!

  • This is the perfect quiet get away! A stylish and very cosy apartment with all the amenities you could need. Situated in a quaint little village with lots of walks near by. The castle ruins were particularly lovely to visit. Janet was a lovely host and gave us lots of helpful info on the local area and places to visit and eat. Ludlow town and castle is just on the doorstep, it’s a lovely place to visit and the sausages from the butchers there were delicious! A continental breakfast was provided by Janet (the jam and honey particularly yummy) The bed was very comfy and the apartment was very clean. My husband and I loved snuggling by the fire and playing cards. Thank you for a lovely, peaceful stay.

    Kim2019-11-08T00:00:00Z
  • Janet and John were excellent hosts, the space is amazing and beautifully designed. The log fire was great for a cosy night in and all the small touches made a big difference. They even went the extra mile when my partner and I got stuck in nearby floods which we were SO grateful for!! Will definitely go back!

The property has been beautifully renovated and finished with high end fixtures and fittings. The hosts provided lots of helpful hints about places to eat or walk. We can personally recommend The Stagg (in the neighbouring village of Titley) for dinner and The Harp (in Old Radnor) for lunch. Overall, a great location to enjoy the peace and quiet of the countryside and get away from it all!

We would definitely recommend this accommodation, which is bigger than it looks in pictures, and can’t wait to go back.

Raffaella and Orlando were welcoming, responsive, offered helpful advice but were not at all intrusive. Breakfast was beautifully presented. I would not hesitate to recommend their place.

Easy check in, with our host welcoming us once we’d had time to settle in. Fresh produce was delicious and much appreciated. The bed was so comfortable! During our stay I had a query about the wifi. Philip went out of his way to help immediately without making me feel like it was any trouble at all, and I really appreciated that.

  • Beautiful cottage. Very central location.

  • Highly recommend this lovely cottage. Very quiet and in a great location. Very comfortable and ideal for a night or weekend retreat. Very short walks from the centre of town so you can access all the fine food establishments and the castle. The cottage is so adorable, even for a 6ft 1in bloke. Low ceilings but that adds to the charm. Open log burner adds cosy warmth to the space whilst you sip homemade damson vodka! Very clean and well planned space with great bedroom and wooden beams and pitched ceiling, big spacious bathroom. Highly recommend and we will be returning.

  • As promised, this is a cosy space , right in the heart of Ludlow, and we really enjoyed ourselves. The town is just so beautiful, with a fascinating range of proper shops and businesses, and friendly people. We were out and about, even in the midst of Hurricane Dennis, making full use of the umbrellas. We also had an exhilarating run on Sunday morning to see the swollen River Eame. The house has everything you need, ingeniously fitted into its tiny footprint. We are small people, but the space might be a problem for taller folk. Also, we didn't use the bicycles we had bought, but would have struggled to know where to store them if we had

Stonewood Cottage is in a quiet, secluded spot very close to the town’s amenities. It is tricky to locate by postcode only so look at the Directions section! This is walkers' country, with several national trails starting, finishing or passing through the town, Offa’s Dyke Path being one. The river fishing is spectacular on the Wye and the Severn. Kington is a small market town on the Welsh borders and it has several pubs, cafes and takeaways plus a walking shop
You can park outside the cottage but the access is narrow and rather steep so we advise that you initially park close by (free), call us and we will come to meet you and show you where we are. Details are in the Directions section, available after you book.
Offa's Dyke Trail comes through Kington which lies between Hay on Wye and Knighton on the route. Hergest Ridge is a half hour walk away from our doorstep. Herefordshire Trail, Glydwr's Way, the Wyche Way, the Mortimer Trail all pass through Kington. Kington Walking Festivals, April 12th to 14th and September 19th to 22nd in 2019 are very popular and well attended events, as are the two Hay-on-Wye literary festivals. We are one minute’s walk from the Oxford Arms which serves food most days. Cloud 9 Spa and pool are available at the Burton Hotel if you fancy a bit of pampering.

  • We had a great stay at Liz’s place. Liz met us in the car park around the corner and drove us back to the house. The room is spacious with a huge en suite bathroom, all sparkling clean with lots of nice touches. Liz took the time to speak to us about our day and she knows all about the town and walks in the area. We highly recommend. There are lots of pubs within walking distance and we both had splendid homemade lasagne in the Oxford Arms down the road. They also had a free pool table and darts board, what’s more the locals were friendly and spoke to us and the landlord and staff couldn’t have been better.

  • A great cosy location for visiting Ludlow. Right on the edge of the town centre - with parking ! - and convenient for the castle, restaurants, a walk by the river and everything else in the town. It’s a very clean & tidy cottage and plenty of helpful commas from the host. Well worth a stay

Coal’s View is a luxury detached holiday cottage situated in Eyton, a quiet country hamlet. The cottage is newly converted and offers open plan living with an abundance of high-end features across two floors, with a large private garden and hot tub. The bedroom includes a king bed, with views overlooking the paddocks. The bathroom includes an impressive standalone bathtub. There’s a well fitted kitchen, with a large oven, and dining table, beside a homely living space complete with log burner.
The property is well positioned for walkers and cyclists, with a byway just beyond the garden and the national trust sites of Croft Castle and Berrington Hall within a short drive. There’s an array of country pubs and restaurants close by as well as numerous distilleries and orchards. For convenience there are several supermarkets and local amenities within 2 miles. Slightly further afield is the historic town of Ludlow, famed for it’s food festivals and Michelin star cuisine. We’re conveniently situated close to the Welsh border for fantastic scenary, with both the Shropshire Hills and Brecon Beacons also within easy reach by car.
  • We had a wonderful few days here and could’ve happily stayed longer. Great place to stay if you’re looking for a quiet getaway.

  • A lovely stay at Coals View. It was a nice surprise to have wine and chocolate upon arrival - which didn’t last long! The place is beautiful, clean and well thought out. We had a wonderful stay and will definitely recommend it to friends and family :)

  • We’ve just got back home from 2 lovely quiet nights at Tom and Louise’s place. This was booked as a surprise for my finance, and she absolutely loved it (especially the bath!) The cottage is lovely inside and really well laid out, nice big kitchen, nice sized living room with views out onto the hot tub, the upstairs is amazing the bedroom is great and the bathroom is amazing, 2 sinks, nice big shower, toilet and the star of the show an egg bath, many a relaxing time was spent in there. The other star of the show is the hot tub, it’s constantly kept warm and really easy to access, it’s very private with the fence around and once you have the lid up, we spent a couple of hours Thursday evening star gazing and it was a great relaxing end to our day. Check in was easy and no fuss, although if there was any issues Tom and Louise are only next door. The local area is nice and quiet with a couple nice pubs a few miles away, defo walkable when the weather is good, we took a little walk over some fields and over a wobbly bridge which was fun, this was mentioned to me by Tom. If you don’t plan on wanting to leave the area much then you can just stock up on food and drink and enjoy the treats of the cottage for a few nights. If you want to go a little further a field by car then you have Leominster a matter of minutes away which has a bit of everything you will be looking for and then about 20 minutes away is Ludlow which is a really nice historic market town with the castle, nice pubs, restaurants and sights. Lastly we took a drive and then walk up Clee Hill where the views were amazing and managed to see a bit of the sun set. We definitely recommend the cottage for a romantic break or just somewhere to unwind and you won’t be disappointed by what’s inside (and out) and you’ll be getting good value for money.

  • Lovely quiet bolt-hole nestled in the countryside. Just as described and with very helpful hosts.

    Stuart2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely mid week break, super relaxing! We went to one of the pubs Louise and Tom recommended and loved it! Will 100% be returning in the summer. Close to local shops, lovely woodland walks and a really nice secluded property, the bath is to die for!!

    Lilly2020-02-21T00:00:00Z
  • Our much anticipated visit to Eyton had to be aborted due to flooding in the local area. Tom was on to us first thing in the morning we were due to arrive to advise of the difficulties we might face. We agreed us cancelling was the best option. Tom had refunded us by the time we got home. Thanks for your prompt information and attention. We will re book for another occasion

    David2020-02-19T00:00:00Z
  • Louise and Tom were fantastic hosts and their cottage is perfect for couples. Maybe take a board game/book, as if the weather isn't great the local area is a bit quiet. However, we enjoyed relaxing in the front room looking out at the fields and the hot tub was an added extra which we made the most of. The added little touch of some chocolates and 2 bottles of wine upon arrival definitely went down a treat!

Long Wood Lodges provides a luxury 2 bedroom (4 berth) wooden lodge that has been purpose built in a 10 acre plot, high on the edge of Reeves & Stonewall Hill just outside Knighton, Mid Wales, where you will enjoy Panoramic views across rolling countryside viewable from either the comfort of the lounge area with the log burner roaring in the corner or from the decking, were the hot tub looks out over the valley below, simply sit back and relax and enjoy the views, bird song and the stars.
It is a predominantly rural area with excellent dark skies for star gazing, on a clear night the Milky Way is clearly visible, the Space guard Centre (small observatory) is less than 0.5 miles along the road and well worth a visit, while being a rural location, you also have easy access to more major towns & cities, country life is why people come and visit and in many cases return year on year or even move to this beautiful unspoiled area to escape the ‘rat race’ and take life at a slower more enjoyable pace. The lodge is situated in a 10-acre plot where children as well as the more adventurous adults can play and explore the countryside.
Nearby are many excellent walks with the famous Offa’s Dyke running through Knighton (Tref-y-Clawdd, meaning the town on the Dyke), the tourist office, situated within the Offa’s Dyke visitors centre in Knighton offers excellent advice. Knighton is approx 2 miles from the property and has multiple pubs also serving great meals, a wonderful Gin /Wine bar 'The Banc' , not to mention a variety of cafes and shops. For the more adventurous there are many bike trails with the 'black' downhill mountain bike run at Hopton Woods about 5 miles away (we can arrange drop off or pick-ups with your bikes and we have free mountain bike jet washing facilities on-site) not to mention the many horse-riding trails and centres, rally driving and canoeing all within easy reach. Days out can include a visit to the nearby historic towns of Ludlow or Hay-on-Wye both having many festivals and celebrations throughout the year, as well as many local shops, bars and restaurants. A trip to nearby Rhayader is also highly recommended to marvel at the damns in Ellan Valley or visit the Red Kite Feeding Station & Rehabilitation Centre. There are many famous landmarks in the area with Powys Castle, Ludlow Castle & Croft Castle, not to mention some great walking trails at Carding Mill Valley and the Long Mynd, Radnor Forest and Mortimer’s Forest to name but a few, or just come, sit back and relax and enjoy the views, bird song and the stars.

My teen and 9yold enjoyed exploring the extensive fields, woods and stream and did just what kids are suppose to do. Whilst I enjoy the fresh spring water hot tub with a cold glass of sparkling. Ladies pack your beauty gear and make this a mini spa retreat . Can’t fault it .

Get ready for some amazing sunrises and sunsets, beautiful dark night skies full of stars 🌟 I heard cuckoos, saw owls, buzzards and a red kite. The cottage is cosy and comfortable with the most comfy double bed and a wood burner in the lounge completes the coziness. I can heartily recommend Middle Barn for anyone needing to recharge and unwind and although it’s set in the heart of the Shropshire countryside, you’re only 3 miles from the nearest town with all the amenities you could wish for. I hated to leave - which I think says it all. A wonderful place with great hosts.

The flat is a fully equipped, self contained, private part of a larger house. It has been finished to a high specification and includes a spacious bedroom, kitchen/diner, shower/toilet room, and hallway. It also has a private outside patio/garden some of which is a covered area. There is no charge for one child under the age of 16 when accompanied by an adult so you do not have to include him/her in the number of people when booking.
Privacy is important to most people. Whilst the ground floor flat is part of a larger grade 2 listed building it has been designed to ensure that visitors have privacy. It has its own separate entrance, outside patio/garden space, and is separated from the rest of the house by a locked door. Heavy curtains and sound absorbing boards either side of that door help to increase 'sound privacy'. The bedroom has a good quality comfortable full sized double bed with an option of using mattress toppers for those who prefer a softer touch. There is also a fold down single futon, and again with a mattress topper for additional comfort. Both the external and internal space has been tastefully decorated and restored. The kitchen/diner area has all the usual home features including a small electric cooker with oven, a micro wave oven, sink, fridge, toaster, kettle, central heating gas boiler, iron, hair dryer and is fully equipped with pots/pans/crockery, cutlery, coffee makers, etc.
Presteigne is one of those special locations that has remained largely unchanged for many years. A rural location on the border of Mid Wales and England means that it has escaped many of the not so good 'developments' of recent times. It's a small historic town that is surrounded by beautiful countryside. There are many places of interest within the area including other historic towns such as Hay on Wye and Ludlow, as well as wonderful mountain ranges such as the Brecon Beacons and the Black Mountains. The route of the 8th century Offas Dyke passes nearby. The 'flat' is situated in the conservation area close to the centre of the town (about a two minute walk). If you prefer going out for meals, the town centre has a wide choice of cafes including the recent 'Moroccan' addition.
  • I had a great stay. It's cosy, comfortable, well equipped and excellent value. John was friendly and welcoming and the surrounding area is well worth exploring. Hoping to visit again.

  • John’s lovely flat is tucked away just off the road. A small but perfectly formed space that provided everything we needed: a great bed, a functional and sweet kitchen, a good shower. In the summer I’m sure the outside area makes for a wonderful spot to relax in. It was a tiny walk to the centre of Presteigne, where there are nice shops and cafes to explore, and you are surrounded by beautiful countryside to get stuck into too. Would highly recommend this place, John is a kind and friendly host who made us feel very welcome.

  • Great value stop over. Perfectly formed everything you need accommodation, including a good reading selection. We had a great nights sleep here, room and location seemed very peaceful. John was kind and welcoming and was very helpful in his communication. We can recommend the woodcutters flat with no hesitation. Thanks!

Our Barn is nestled in a peaceful valley south of the Shropshire Hills, filled with birdsong and bees. The spacious, modern living areas have vaulted beamed ceilings and the characterful upstairs master bedroom has an en-suite. You can walk to Stokesay Castle, taking in the far reaching views, or drive to historic Ludlow in just 15 minutes. You will have access to a wildflower garden and sun terrace, with a view of Titterstone Clee. Our thatched cottage is next door and we are dog friendly.
Our Barn is detached with a private entrance and parking. The spacious living area has two sofas, coffee table, a log effect fire and Smart TV with a Freesat Humax box. It is adjacent to the modern kitchen which has a microwave and Stoves oven featuring two electric ovens, a grill and 5 gas rings. The feature staircase leads to the master bedroom which has a double bed and Egyptian cotton bedding with a beautiful handmade quilt. Steps lead down to the en-suite which features a relaxing slipper bath as well as a toilet and basin. There is also a downstairs shower room with an electric shower.
Walking is a joy from the Barn. A bridleway runs past our land and links with the Shropshire Way. There are many choices of footpath taking in the breathtaking views over the Teme valley towards Ludlow and the Stretton Hills. Dog owners, please note the land may have livestock. Our favourite things to do: Park at Ludlow Leisure Centre, then walk into Ludlow along Dinham and the castle walls to the Local to Ludlow Cafe in market square or the Green Cafe by the river Teme. Browse the local market stalls, the famous hardware shop, Rickards or the small independent food shops. Visit the museum, castle or the Ludlow Assembly rooms, enjoy a drink in the traditional Victorian Pub, The Dog Hangs Well and return for a spa at the Leisure Centre. Walk the Shuts of Shrewsbury to see the historic architecture and independent small shops and cafes. See a show at the SevernTheatre or a film above the Old Market Hall. Visit a festival such as Abor Tree Dressing in Aston upon Clun, the Green Man Festival in Clun or the numerous Ludlow festivals, including the infamous Ludlow Food Festival.
  • A fabulously beautiful setting and a great cottage, really well thought out and well equipped throughout. We did quite a bit of cooking and the kitchen had everything we needed. The welcome basket was really helpful and the information package was superb. We took the beautiful walk along the stream to the Apple Tree in Onibury, just over an hour each way. The pub is really welcoming and friendly and there was no complaint when our digs found their way into the kitchen and nearly finished off the weekend’s Yorkshire puddings. The food was full of easy choices and the beer excellent. Can’t recommend this cottage enough.

  • Debbie and Keith have got back to the original concept of Airbnb Airbnb was originally set up so that you could gain experience from locals and to enhance your visit to an area. The growth of the multiple landlord has taken the soul out of the very essence of it. But as hosts they get back to the cores values. Set deep in the Shropshire countryside down an attractive single track, the Barn is fabulously located. Brandy Barn is really peaceful, cosy, inviting and well presented including some of Debbie’s handwoven baskets and tasteful art around the house. The hosts live next door but they’re not intrusive, but are very open and friendly if you ask for advice about the area. There is easy access to the delights of Ludlow and they provide descriptions of 4 walks in the area in the information folder. We tried all 4 and they were excellent and took us through some beautiful countryside. Lastly we have a very energetic dog so access to their 1 acre paddock was super helpful in addition to it being a great area to explore with a dog. A brilliant stay, great hospitality in a peaceful and beautiful setting.

    Liam2020-01-01T00:00:00Z
  • We really enjoyed staying at Brandy Barn. The location and grounds are stunning, the barn is homely with everything you need for a quiet escape and Debbie and Keith are such lovely hosts. We travel with our two Alaskan Malamutes who usually don’t settle very quickly when we go away but at Brandy barn they and we felt settled and peaceful straight away. The barn is lovely with a great bath to relax in I’d definitely recommend a relaxing soak! There is an acre of land out the back of the hosts home which is fenced and safe for doggies to run around off the lead which our two loved. We really loved how the track down to the property is like an adventure down to such a secluded and peaceful hideaway. This is the perfect place to get away from everything. Ludlow is only 15 minutes away where there is an Aldi or Tesco for shopping plus many unique shops. Worth a trip in to Ludlow. We also visited Cardingmill Valley in Church Stretton. Great for dog walks and only 30 minutes from Brandy Barn.

  • This a beautiful, well fitted cottage with owners who have thought about and delivered a great package. You're away from it here but with easy access to local services and popular Ludlow just a few miles away. Local walks are available and views are amazing. Try it...you'll like it!

    David2019-10-23T00:00:00Z
  • A lovely place just off the beaten path, Comfortable and clean. We have a lurcher and the fact there was so much safe room for her to run was fantastic so if your taking your dog, everything is secure so no worries your fur baby can happily have some fun. Debbie and Keith were very friendly and showed us round on arrival. If your a person who has to be glued to their mobile then be aware you will not get a signal and the wifi is hit and miss, We had a lovely time the weather wasn't great but we still managed to get out and about.

    Yvonne2019-10-19T00:00:00Z
  • We enjoyed a great couple of days at Debbie and Keith's place. A really interesting building in a really interesting location. Perfect for our two greyhounds as it had a private garden and a well-fenced paddock. The house was really well presented, clean, and warm. Some really generous touches with a basket of local goodies, milk and butter in the fridge. Lots of local information and detailed guides for local walks. Only a short drive into beautiful Ludlow. Excellent value, a perfect base to explore Shropshire.

    Roy2019-09-30T00:00:00Z
  • At the end of a bumpy lane, you will find a little bit of paradise - ideal if you are looking for peace and quiet (other than the noise of the ever present pheasants, that is!) The barn is absolutely lovely and exactly as described - it is warm, cosy and well equipped. Debbie and Keith are perfect hosts, ever ready with local information and suggestions - should you want them. This is a perfect base for exploring this beautiful area. If you are a walker you are right at the end of a footpath that leads directly onto "the Shropshire way". Ludlow, Shrewsbury, Ironbridge and the Shropshire hills are all easily accessible via the nearby A49. Dog owners you can be rest assured that your beloved companion will be made as welcome as your are. We had a thoroughly enjoyable (albeit rainy) week!

The fact the hot tub is always on so you can jump in anytime of the day or night was very welcome. The Hundred House Inn (pub) up the road was very homely and did excellent food. • We stayed at Penny's Star Dome as as a extension to our Honeymoon. One with our Labrador in tow this time! Despite it being a heatwave Penny did the best she could to cool the dome for us in preparation and left us with a fan. We We mostly spent the evenings in and around the Dome due to the heat in the day! Beautiful setting so quiet and peaceful nicely situated. Our dog especially loved laying on the balcony and watching the birds. All the amenities you need are there. We were advised the best walks and given some tips on check in. We enjoyed a thunder & lightning storm from the dome in the early hours which was beautiful. To be honest we only wished we had booked to stay longer. Thank you

    Laura2019-07-25T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed in the Star Dome and it was just lovely! Comfortable bed and amazing to hear the animals all day and night too. We were able to chill outside for the first night which was great with the gas fire pit and the BBQ worked a treat! It does get cold during the night when the fire goes out so the electric blanket was amazing! We made use of the games and played Monopoly and got fish and chips in nearby Clee Hill which were excellent. We didn’t use the hot tub (bring sandals if you do though as the path is made of small stones) All in all, a really relaxing stay which we both LOVED but if you’re scared of the dark and being very remote, it’s maybe not for you!

    Yvonne2019-04-25T00:00:00Z
  • A fabulous place, in the middle of the woods, with great views. If the weather is good you have a lovely balcony to sit on, have a drink and admire the scenery, if the weather isn't so good ( it decided to snow the day after i got there, in April!) then you have a great big window to look out of. Light the fire early though, if your there when its chilly, and put the electric blanket on at night. I loved waking up to hear all the birds, you are right in the middle of nature, and there are some lovely walks in the woods right on your doorstep. Penny gets back to you right away if you have any questions, its a lot easier to find than i thought but you are no where near a main road, which is fab. Hope to stay again next year.

    Jayne2019-04-03T00:00:00Z
  • 5* amenities, every home comfort has been taken into account. Glamping at it's finest!

    Galia2019-02-06T00:00:00Z
  • The dome is such a cool place to stay, very clean and with great amenities. We stayed for two nights between Xmas and New Year and weren’t cold at all. We had the fire roaring throughout and the heated blanket on the bed was great too. The hot tub is a really nice touch, and I can only imagine how nice it would be to use the bbq and rattan furniture during the summer months. We felt very relaxed during our time in the dome. Fern recommended that we spent a day in Ludlow which was really nice, and visited Titterstone Clee Hill on the way back. Such beautiful views just 5 mins from the dome. We also had dinner one night at the Hopton Crown pub, which was also nice and only 10 mins away. Overall, a brilliant stay. Thanks.

    Elizabeth And Lee2018-12-29T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely dome with beautiful views. The decor in the dome is really nice and everything you need is there! The fire was nice and relaxing and the hot tub was a nice touch. The hosts were welcoming and helpful. It was rather cold at times so would suggest going in the warmer months if that would be an issue for you. Our dog was welcomed and she loved it there!

  • Fantastic space, very luxurious with everything you need and more! The weather was horrific, however it meant that we didn’t feel guilty staying in and getting cosy in front of the fire and the electric blanket, hot water bottles and robes were very much appreciated! Can’t wait to visit in better weather so we can make full use of the outdoor facilities!

    Hannah2020-01-14T00:00:00Z
  • A beautiful and secluded getaway, the perfect option if you love being out in nature but still want creature comforts. Very cosy and full of thoughtful little touches like hot water bottles, dressing gowns, DVDs and board games. We didn't venture out much during our 2 night stay due to bad weather but were perfectly happy reading next to the log burner. Have recommended staying at the Tree Dome to so many people already and we're definitely planning on coming back in the summer to make the most of the beautiful outdoor space.

A unique holiday experience, staying in the Nave of a 1766 2* listed church, just four miles from Ludlow, set in the rolling hills of an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. We can promise you a memorable stay in a property that blends historical features with a modern conversion.
The bedroom has an ensuite bathroom, extensively tiled with travertine and granite and features a jacuzzi spa bath. There is a downstairs toilet and shower room. The fitted kitchen has hand painted tiles and a range gas cooker. Enjoy the large flatscreen television with cinema system. Underfloor heating. Many original features.
  • This is a brilliant place to stay! Steve & Sue are very welcoming as hosts, and the space is completely unique & incredibly interesting. They've managed to retain the character of the old church, while also adding some luxury to the living space (particularly the bathroom). Lots of beautiful walks around too, and Ludlow is a nice little town. If there's been any rain, make sure you bring wellies!

    Edd2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • A lovely laid back, relaxing and peaceful place to stay

    Jacqueline2020-01-08T00:00:00Z
  • This place is an absolute treasure trove. Steve and Sue made us feel at home and were so welcoming. The home is very spacious, and had everything you could ask for. There is a great selection of dvds to choose from. And the jacuzzi bath was an added bonus. Amazing views, a great place for peace and quiet. Lots of places to visit nearby, and Steve and Sue were more than happy to give us recommendations. This is a defiantly must if you want an unforgettable experience.

    Alyce2019-10-31T00:00:00Z
  • An amazing quirky home, we felt warm, relaxed and comfortable. The hosts Steve & Sue are lovely people and very hospitable. We would recommend this to anyone but if you have severe mobility issues be aware there are steps to enter as well as to the bedroom. The downstairs toilet and shower (as well as an upstairs bathroom) is a plus and the sofa can be made into a bed. The shower is lovely! The jacuzzi bath is great and the kitchen has a beautiful cooker and is very well equipped. In the lounge there is a massive telly and a great selection of DVD's. All in all, one of our favourite holidays!

    Jenny & Dave2019-10-03T00:00:00Z
  • Steve and Sue's converted church is a fantastic place to stay, very much recommended. They are great hosts, very friendly and helpful with information about the local area. We enjoyed being around their animals too. The kitchen is well equipped for self-catering, every pan and utensil you might want. The lounge has a great TV and DVD system, with a good selection of films to watch. The location is a good base for exploring South Shropshire and further afield. We had a fantastic four days in the area enjoying walking and wild swimming. Many thanks to Steve & Sue.

    Steve2019-08-27T00:00:00Z
  • This charming building is just as described, but the the serenity of the location would be hard to put into words. Getting out of the car you'll be greeted by near silence, interrupted by the odd sheep or chicken, and devoid of the drone of distant traffic that it's so hard to avoid. Steve and Sue are great hosts, and clearly as much in love with their home as anyone who's stayed there must surely be.

    Neil2019-08-23T00:00:00Z
  • This place is a true gem right in the sticks, unique, beautiful and quiet! It's great value for money, the place is huge and has lots of nice touches like the jacuzzi bath, great after a long day of walking through the stunning Shropshire countryside, home cinema, the screen is huge! And everything you could possibly need in the kitchen including cafetiere, corkscrew, blender, food processor, microwave etc. The dining area was wonderful with the candelabra lit up, it was so romantic! I enjoyed cooking in the huge well equipped kitchen. They have cats, chickens, a lovely dog and a PUPPY! Oh he's adorable! The Long Mynd was a stunning walk in the picturesque Church Stretton if you're lucky with the weather. There are loads of blueberries about, especially at the Stiperstones. And on a rainy day you can chill out at "home" or go to Stokesay Castle a short drive away. We loved watching the hedgehogs in the garden at dusk. There's no phone reception which I loved but there is a good WiFi connection. Look out for the hawks in the neighbours garden just down the hill.

  • Wow .... fantastic place. Best Air BNB experience so far. The church and surrounding area are just idyllic. From the moment we stepped into the church we were just in awe of how Steve and Sue have made the place so special. Lots of original features still in place as well as a modern kitchen and bathroom . Very well equipped with everything you need to be very comfortable. Very comfortable living area with a huge tele and great selection of DVD’s. We were fortune to have a tour of the whole church and Steve and Sue’s workshops. The grounds are lovely with Chickens, cats and two beautiful dogs , Spike and Vicar. Sue and Steve were fantastic hosts and we enjoyed their stories of the church restoration and their craft work. Ludlow is only a few miles away, the castle is well worth a visit. Shrewsbury is half an hour drive and a wonderful town. A truly amazing trip , very unique and peaceful.

The original house was built in the 1712 as a small cottage however only the fireplace and some stone walls remain. The house has been added to over the years mostly using reclaimed oak. There are about 5 acres of grounds consisting of gardens, fields, wood, ponds and streams. The river Arrow borders our fields with a weir a short distance away on a public footpath. April to October is a good time for wildfowl with swans, canada geese, mallards, herons and coots joining our resident moorhens.
The two double bedrooms are situated in their own distinct area of the house with their own staircase, bathroom and landing/sitting area. Bedroom 1 & 2 are adjacent to one another and share a bathroom. This area can be used by families with the option of putting a additional single bed in the sitting area. If a couple book the room then it would be for sole use. Bedroom 3 has a bathroom with a bath and access to a shower room downstairs if required. Guests have access to the gardens and ponds. Continental breakfast can be taken in the dining room . Guests can use the kitchen to prepare beverages. During Summer months there is access to seating outside including a Summer House by the ponds.
Pembridge, on the Black and White Village trail is the nearest town and about 3 miles away. It has a couple of pubs, restaurant, two tearooms, a farm shop and art gallery. Kington is about 5 miles away and is a larger town with facilities such as cash machines, petrol garage, supermarkets, individual shops , tourist information, pubs and restaurants. It is also a walking hub with access to various walking trails such as Offas Dyke, Mortimer, Herefordshire and the Arrow Valley walk. Hay on Wye, Ludlow and the Brecon Beacons are not too far away. Their are plenty of local pubs and restaurants in the nearby villages. Their are a number of National Trust and other privately owned Stately Homes and gardens in the area. The Herefordshire Powys border meanders in and out and the nearest to Welsh town Prestigne is about 5 miles away.

Spacious Self contained one bedroomed ground floor Annexe, within our attractive Georgian Farmhouse, set in 26 acres of land, in The pretty Herefordshire village of Wellington. The Hereford Cattle breed was developed here in the 18 th Century .Well equipped kitchen, bedroom with ensuite shower and wc. Comfortable dual aspect Living Room. Horses, dogs and Livestock on site. Good parking and friendly owners Welcome pack and Continental breakfast included for the first night of your stay.
The Annexe is private and self contained with mobility aids, ( grab rails) at the entrance and inside the shower room area and to assist in rising from a toilet. Most door entrance widths are in excess of 30 inches apart from the main entrance to the Annexe from the hallway, which is about 29 inches wide. We have found that a small wheelchair can access all areas and mobility aids such as rollators, are easily used as it is all on one level. There is a walk in shower with a small five inch lip / step into the shower tray. We do have a shower stool if one were required. Access is across a stoned drive but parking is available right next to the main house so not too far to walk. Heading across a level paved patio area to the 44 inch wide front door . There are three steps about 6 inches high with hand rails each side and grab rails at the main door entrance. Then a wide hallway through to the Annexe. We would suggest the Annexe is suitable for persons with reduced mobility.
Wellington Village Is close to the Cathedral City of Hereford and conveniently located off the A49, main trunk road between South Wales and the Wirral and further Northwest. Beautiful Hay on Wye and Ludlow are not far and the Village itself has well used and signed footpaths in and around it. There is a thriving Village shop selling everything from Fine Wine and Beers , fresh bread and deli, fruit and veg and all the usual daily necessities. St Margaret’s Church, across the field from our home is worth a visit and Wellington Homes and Gardens located just off the A49 sells Architectural salvage, alongside beautiful plants. The Restaurant there has breakfast and lunch menus and easily accessible for the traveller. Beautiful Queenswood is located a five minute drive away with fabulous walks and vistas for every season and a friendly cafe serving hot drinks, snacks, breakfasts and lovely cakes ☺️

  • We had such a lovely relaxing stay at The Annexe. It is in an idyllic setting surrounded by gorgeous land. Janice as a lovely host, who met us on arrival and showed us around the place. The Annexe itself was spotless and Janice even left some thoughtful touches such as breakfast for our stay and coffee table books for us to read. Such a wonderful stay here. Would definitely recommend as it is so cosy and homely and we will definitely look to return one day.

  • What a wonderfully peaceful week at Janice’s place! The annexe is immaculate (and spotlessly clean) with all the thoughtful touches - fresh milk, bread and flowers on arrival. We had one small problem with the fire alarms which was fixed straightaway and Janice replied to my questions very quickly. The annexe has everything you need to self cater for the week, including oils & spices for cooking. The bed is lovely and comfortable. The location is beautiful and I loved waking up each morning to views across the countryside. Can’t recommend this place highly enough! We will be back when the weather brightens a bit to explore more of the countryside.

Bread, milk, cereal, tea, coffee etc is provided in the kitchenette. The house is opposite a public house which serves good food and ale. We have amazing walks and cyclin on your doorstep.
The barn is spread over two floors of generous rooms. You can easily sleep 6 across the two bedrooms and sofa bed in the large lounge, some people have even enjoyed sleeping up on the mezzanine. We have facilities for repairing, storing and washing bikes. There is a door connecting the barn to our kitchen so if you need us we are on hand. I live with my three children, two dogs and a cat. The price includes both bedrooms, bathrooms and the living room. To help you settle in I will ensure you have bread, cereal, milk, tea, coffee etc. The kitchenette has sink, fridge, cooking rings, kettle, toaster , bowls, plates etc.
A small village, perfect as a base to explore ludlow, Church Stretton and the local area. The village has two good pubs, a shop and butchers plus garage. Please note the pubs in the village are not open for food Sunday nights and the pub opposite is closed Monday and Tuesday all day. The surrounding forests are all forestry commission so you can explore to your hearts content. I am happy to advise on good restaurants in the area and great days out. There is a lovely bookshop two miles away, a clay pigeon ground just up the road and a rally driving school. Ludlow castle is a great day out as is the cardingmill valley. A little further afield you can go to Acton Scott working form or rent a kayak on the river Wye.
  • Adam's place is a cracker.

  • A host that went ABOVE AND BEYOND!!! Wow Adam barn home was in a lovely village, we arrived early and Adam kindly allowed us to check in early. We headed to the Sitwell pub directly facing our front door and headed into Ludlow to the mediaeval Christmas markets. We was about to head back when we realised we could t get home. All buses and trains had stopped running around 6pm. We tried to book several taxis who said they couldn't get us to 1am. We rung back to book that one and the time jumped to 3am. I contacted Adam to see if there was any other way to get back. He was out but kindly asked his friend to pick us up! Thank god! There was no way we could of walked back or was 25minutes in the car in rain and fog !! The barn itself is lovely and clean there was lots of additional touches, bread milk butter upon arrival. Heating set before we wake. We all cannot thank you enough for going above and beyond for our overnight stay in your home! Please again thank your friend for rescuing us all !!! We all have said we would like to return. Perfect for a girlie relax or romantic getaway!! Highly recommended
