Places to stay in Wigginton
This cosy luxurious self contained oak frame cabin offers the perfect peaceful setting for a relaxing getaway. Listen out and you may hear the owls at night. Backing onto the National Trust Ashridge Forest, this is perfect for outdoor lovers but equally suitable for a romantic night in. 1.5 miles down the road, the popular market town of Berkhamsted is offering atmospheric pubs and bars for a special treat out. The cabin offers comfortable, spacious living with King size bed.
Although the cabin is within the grounds of the main property, it is completely separated off by thick hedge rows to offer complete privacy to our guests. A path alongside the house leads the guests to their own entrance of the cabin. This cabin features all you need for a comfortable stay- a small bathroom with shower facility, a spacious open plan living room, an open plan kitchen with a hob and convection microwave oven grill and a comfortable King Size bed on the Mezzanine level, accessed by a ladder. It is furnished with cosy lighting, two comfortable sofas and a dining table. The cabin features a TV as well as a large DVD selection and Hi-Fi system. Kitchen: We also provide utensils so that our guests can choose to stay in and prepare their own meal if they wish. The back gate allows you to walk straight into the woods to explore 5000 acres of deer filled forest and its other wildlife. A 20 minute walk away you may wish to refresh yourself in the upmarket and cosy pub, the Alford Arms, in the idyllic Frithsden Valley where they even have their own vineyard. The cabin is only 1.5 miles away from the popular and trendy town centre of Berkhamsted, featuring a range of lively pubs and restaurants.
Our cosy little wood cabin is backing straight onto the woods, located in a quiet setting of the sleepy village Potten End, just minutes away from popular old market town Berkhamsted. You can literally walk out of the back gate into the woods and explore the nature. Here are a few tips and activities in the area: Ashridge Estate - a 5,000 acre area of the Chiltern Hills with beech and oak woodlands, commons and chalk downlands. These very different landscapes each support a rich variety of wildlife, including carpets of bluebells in spring, rare butterflies in summer and the fallow deer that rut in autumn. You can walk out of the back gate of the property into the woods and explore Miles of footpaths and bridleways. Frithsden Vineyard – Literally a 30 minute walk through the woods, and you will get to this beautiful boutique English vineyard and winery set in the foothills of the Chilterns. Besides a range of regular seasonal events you can also pass by and enjoy some of their home produced wines. Berkhamsted Town centre and Castle – have a stroll through Berkhamsted highstreet and explore Berkhamsted Castle's remains. The town has a special place in our history: following the Saxon defeat at the Battle of Hastings, it was at Berkhamsted that the bishops and noblemen formally offered William the Conqueror the crown. The Rex – "possibly Britain's most beautiful cinema" (BBC), the Rex has one huge screen set in a glorious 1938 art-deco proscenium arch, with "the sharpest film projection and clearest non-booming sound anywhere in the world". The whole experience is delightfully civilized: sink into large, comfortable seats then sit back with cheese and wine to enjoy the film. Berkhamsted Waterways Walk – Go for a walk along the River Bulbourne andGrand Union Canal which run through the town and enjoy a cold drink in the popular Boat pub. Tring Natural History Museum – 5 miles from Berkhamsted. The wonderful galleries of this beautiful Victorian museum present a fascinating range of animals, from tiny dressed fleas to a smiling polar bear and domestic dogs. The Snow Centre – 5 miles from Berkhamsted. Britain's newest snow centre at Hemel Hempstead is currently the coolest place to go to enjoy skiing, snowboarding and other snow sports on indoor slopes of real snow. The main slope is 160m long and 30m wide, serviced by two POMA button lifts. The trainer slope is 100m long, with two rope tows. There are lessons for everyone new to snow, and clothing and equipment is on hand to hire. Whipsnade Zoo – 9 miles from Berkhamsted. Set on the slopes of the Chiltern Hills, the UK's biggest zoo is home to more than 2,500 animals, many of which are endangered in the wild. Whipsnade is noted for creating interactive and inspiring exhibits and popular daily events including keeper talks, animal feeds and demonstrations. You can drive through the 'Passage through Asia' or take the free Safari bus which stops at all the main exhibits in the 600 acre site. Harry Potter, Warner Bros. Studio Tour – the Making of Harry Potter – 9.7 miles from Berkhamsted. A visit to the Harry Potter World offers you an insight behind the scenes to showcase a huge array of beautiful sets, costumes and props and to reveal the secrets of the special effects and animatronics that made these films hugely popular all over the world.

  • The cabin is a unique and secluded find; perfect for couples after a cosy getaway. The cabin’s amenities are well thought out and the whole place was spotless. Checking in and out was super simple. The surrounding area has plenty to offer and guests who are new to the area are provided with plenty of useful info. We loved our stay here.

  • We will definitely be returning, and hopefully when the weather is better - the only thing that could have topped our stay is if the sun was shining!

  • Lilli’s oak cabin is beautiful. Privately situated next to a pretty woodland, it is warm, cosy peaceful and has a special quality of being both rustic and elegant. It has everything you’d need to feel at home, as well as some lovely additonal touches. The surrounding countryside, quaint old towns and villages are stunning. Perfect for a romantic getaway.

A quiet retreat in a beautiful village not too far from London in Little Gaddesden near Berkhamsted you will find this 5 bedroom Coach House. It is on the outskirts of Ashridge - which was King Henry the 8th's hunting lodge. The house has private access to the unspoilt and often unknown 5000 acres deer park known as Ashridge. It is perfect for walkers and cyclists.
Fabulous location for walkers and cyclists. Walking in Ashridge is amazing. See link from National Trust for various walks around the estate. (URL HIDDEN)
Little Gaddesden From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia St. Peter and St. Paul Church at Little Gaddesden, where many Egerton family members are buried in the Bridgewater Chapel Little Gaddesden is a village and civil parish in the English county of Hertfordshire three miles north of Berkhamsted. As well as Little Gaddesden village (population 694), the parish contains the settlements of Ashridge (population 53), Hudnall (population 139), and part of Ringshall (population 81).[1] The total population at the 2011 Census was 1,125.[2] Part of the parish was formerly in Buckinghamshire. This includes Witchcraft Bottom, notable as the alleged location where the last witch in Buckinghamshire was tried and hanged. The village of Little Gaddesden borders both Buckinghamshire and Bedfordshire, whilst being situated in the county of Hertfordshire. Little Gaddesden and the surrounding area of the Ashridge Estate is owned and managed by the National Trust. This area has been used in many films, notably: First Knight, Stardust, the Harry Potter series, Son of Rambow and more recently Robin Hood starring Russell Crowe. TV programmes filmed here include Marchlands, Midsomer Murders Lewis, Cranford, and a Jamie Oliver[3] advertisement for Sainsburys. Little Gaddesden has many period properties, of note: Ashridge House, (designed by Sir James Wyattville along with gardens and grounds designed by Sir Humphrey Repton and Capability Brown - Golden Valley) The Manor House situated on the Green along with John O’Gaddesden House and Marian House, Little Gaddesden House along Nettleden Road heading towards the hamlet of Nettleden and the Old Rectory past the village shop heading to Ringshall. Lamsey Farm - (URL HIDDEN) - 193359 The Ashridge Estate that surrounds the village is a 5,000-acre (20 km2) area of open countryside and woodland on the edge of the Chiltern Hills, with a rich variety of wildlife including fallow dear, muntjac and the renowned red kite. There are large areas of mature woodlands with carpets of spring bluebells and fine autumnal displays, along with the panorama from the Bridgewater Monument. In the early 17th century, Thomas Egerton, 1st Viscount Brackley, had purchased Ashridge House, one of the largest country houses in England, from Queen Elizabeth I, who had inherited it from her father who had appropriated it after the Dissolution of the Monasteries in 1539. Ashridge House served the Egerton family as a residence until the 19th century. The Egertons later had a family chapel (the Bridgewater Chapel) with burial vault in Little Gaddesden Church,[4] where many monuments commemorate the Dukes and Earls of Bridgewater and their families.[5] Among those buried here is the 3rd Duke of Bridgewater,[6] famous as the originator of British inland navigation and the Bridgewater Canal. Little Gaddesden is an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB) and a Conservation Area protected by the National Trust. There is a vigorous community life with 30 different clubs and societies. The oldest of these is probably the Women's Institute (founded in 1919) and the Royal British Legion. Local amenities include the famous Ashridge Golf Course, Alford Arms public house, Bridgewater Arms public house, Little Gaddesden village shop and post office, Munn's Farm Shop, Grove Farm, Little Gaddesden Primary School, Little Gaddesden Cricket Club, Ivinghoe Beacon, Pitstone Windmill, Frithsden Vineyard, Gaddesden Place, the Gaddesden Estate, Walter Swinburn racing stables, Stocks House, Ashridge Business School also known as Ashridge House, London Gliding Club, Dunstable Downs and Whipsnade Zoo. Nearby villages and Hamlets: Aldbury, Great Gaddesden, Gaddesden Row, Frithsden, Nettleden, Potten End, Ivinghoe, Northchurch, Ringshall, Studham, Dudswell, Wigginton, Dagnall, Flamstead. Local residents are kept updated on events in Little Gaddesden through the Gaddesden Diary, published seasonally. The Parish News also provides a further summary. Famous residents who live in the village, include: football commentator John Motson, Formula One driver Mark Webber,[7] ex-footballers Luther Blissett and Tim Sherwood, actor Adrian Scarborough, news correspondent Fiona Bruce and radio presenter Roger Bolton. Singer Sarah Brightman was brought up in the village. Entrepreneur and founder of Barenaturals Darcey Croft, was born and raised in the village, Ronnie Wood, a member of the Rolling Stones, owns a house in the village.
  • I highly recommend the house for a great get away, the house is amazing and Jan provides a lovely welcome. Would happily have stayed for longer and explored the area more.

  • They can expect a great stay in a lovely rural location. It feels very homely!

    Kate2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • An incredible, beautiful venue with plenty of room, great for our group of friends during some particularly rainy weekend. Janette is an incredible host providing us with a lovely lasagne and loads of breakfast food. We were really impressed. Unfortunately there was a little trouble with the hot tub, but we were kept up to date by Janette and we were still able to thoroughly relax and enjoy ourselves. We would definitely return again.

    Peter2020-02-24T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely location, lovely house and lovely host. Will definitely be back again!

    Arthur2020-02-20T00:00:00Z
  • Jan and her Airbnb are lovely! Jan was full of helpful suggestions and quick with communication. The Airbnb looks fab, was really toasty and has great communal spaces perfect for larger groups. Thanks for a lovely stay Jan!

    Blaire2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • We had a fabulous weekend at Jan's place. Everything was really wonderful and it couldn't have been better. Jan left a fantastic hamper for us with breakfast goodies, fizz and lasagne for supper too which was very well received and we loved it. The house is really lovely and warm and the hot tub a real treat too. The location was perfect with a great pub within walking distance for a post hike reward. The local surroundings are gorgeous and we really enjoyed stretching our legs. The local shop is very handy for any extras you may need. We had a fantastic Chinese take away with very prompt delivery service. A really fabulous touch was the Alexas! We had forgotten ours but luckily the house had not just one but too and so we had music to while away the hours relaxing in front of the roaring fire. Thank you Jan for a super weekend and we will most definitely return as it was the perfect country retreat for this group of mums on tour xx

    Jacqueline2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful house in lovely area. Surprisingly good for young children, not having stairs to worry about, and having such a great garden (especially in summer). Communication with Janette was excellent and she went the extra mile preparing cot, highchair etc. We were greeted with a selection of foodstuffs so that you don't immediately have to dash out to buy things. Beds comfortable with beautiful bed linen and a lovely sitting area. Would happily recommend it.

    Marje & Pete2020-02-03T00:00:00Z
  • This place is superb! All that we needed and more for a wonderful weekend away with friends and family. The extra touches and thoughtful gestures made it even more special. Plenty of space, beautiful house and garden.

  • A small, cosy space that is just perfect for two. The little kitchen had everything we needed and more. Two fridges allowed us to chill a bottle or two. Perfect location to walk part of The Ridgeway, which is exactly what we did . Princes Risborough to Ivinghoe Beacon.

    Amanda2020-02-18T00:00:00Z
  • Sally's place was a great place to stay for our short getaway. Good walks straight on your doorstep and plenty of places close by to visit. Would highly recommend.

  • Great place to stay stunning setting.

    Paul2019-08-26T00:00:00Z
  • The setting is stunning - at the end of a private road, next to Woodland Trust but just minutes from Tring and near enough to Oxford, Blenheim Palace, Waddesdon Manor and Bletchley Park to visit. The cottage, attached to a beautiful house and gardens, is small but has everything you want for a holiday. It has a double bedroom with a comfortable bed and en-suite bathroom with a shower over, lounge area with kitchenette off of it. There is a pub with good food within walking distance and there are several places to eat in Tring. Sally knocked when we got there to check we had everything we needed and again before we left to check all was OK. Would definitely recommend this beautiful cottage.

    Christine2019-05-24T00:00:00Z
  • The cottage, though small, was very comfortable and well equipped. The location is beautiful - quiet and peaceful. Sally was a great host and very helpful. We would stay again without hesitation, and would certainly recommend the cottage to other travellers.

  • Helpful host. Great place.

    Dermot2020-01-24T00:00:00Z
  • Decent sized room in a family home, with the bathroom just across the corridor. Breakfast being included was nice and Chris helpful and welcoming. If you like dogs then there's a bonus in the form of the very well behaved and friendly cockapoo Fozzy!

    Gregory2020-01-05T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great experience stopping over for a single night in this pleasant room in Chris' wonderful family home. Ever helpful, friendly and respectful of our privacy, Chris and family were perfect hosts. Plus, Fozzy the dog made us feel extra specially welcome. It's a perfect location for walks in Ashridge Estate and for quick access to London from the very-nearby Tring station. Thanks guys!

Warm croissants and hot tea for breakfast , what more could you ask!.. Oh and not forgetting Fozzy, the most adorable well behaved Cockerpoo, he was an added bonus...

Quiet, friendly, busy household. Take-away and Co-op within walking distance. Short walk to Tring centre through a park. (Non-smokers only please).
The room is on the ground floor with bathroom opposite. Unfortunately, there are difficult steps both into the property and into the room so it is unsuitable for anyone disabled and depending on a wheelchair to get them around. Everything is contained on the ground floor though and ideal for someone wanting to come and go at odd hours.
Close to shops, buses to Luton airport. The train station is about a mile from the house, you could walk but we wouldn’t recommend it at night, it’s not well lit.
  • I have stayed in a few places in the course of my work, but this family just stands out. They are nice, friendly and always willing to assist their host. Thanks to both of you. 👍🏾

  • I've stayed at Robyne's place several times now - would definitely recommend it as a place to stay in Tring.

    Josef2020-02-14T00:00:00Z
  • Really pleased with my stay here. Robyne and Duncan are lovely hosts - happy to chat when you're feeling sociable, but there's also plenty of privacy when you need it. The room is very comfortable and you have your own bathroom too. Highly recommended and very good value for money!

  • As usual, always an absolute pleasure to stay here. Very comfortable and spotlessly clean.

    Ian2019-09-11T00:00:00Z
  • Stayed a 2nd time - again enjoyed my stay and was made to feel very welcome

    David2019-08-24T00:00:00Z
  • Robyne's is an ideal set up for working professionals with easy access to the bedroom, bathroom/shower facilities and kitchen immediately from the front door. This makes coming and going straight forward. The place itself was very clean and well presented. The hosts are welcoming and interesting to chat to. They even provided a lift to the train station upon departure which was very kind of them. It is also a BARGAIN in terms of the price. I would highly recommend Robyne's to anyone needing a nice, welcoming and clean place to stay in Tring.

The Garden Room at The Old Bakehouse. Self contained with independent access we have everything you need for a comfortable stay - high quality bedlinen; en suite bathroom with White Company toiletries; Nespresso machine; sunny breakfast space. On the edge of the Chilterns, a short drive from Tring Station, three trains an hour to London. Local attractions include Whipsnade Zoo, Tring Museum, The Making of Harry Potter at Leavesden Studios, Bletchley Park, Waddesdon Manor and the Ashridge Estate.
The Old Bakehouse was built around 1840 and The Garden Room was converted in 2018 from our office and shed. The bed is a handmade four poster UK king size with new Caspar mattress and good quality bedlinen, bedside lights, Kettle and Nespresso coffee machine, Sophie Conran crockery, White Company toiletries. We have a child's travel cot and a child's inflatable bed, but there's not much room although children are welcome. Before our time the privies for all five cottages (now only two) stood here. The Bakehouse was a two storey wooden building added on to the row, housing a communal bread oven for the cottages to reduce the risk of fire. In the 1980 the bakehouse was converted to the current main house sitting room and master bedroom. Access to Old Bakehouse is by foot from Chequers Lane along a short path in front of the adjoining house and through the gate pictured. Parking is in the street right outside. We'll make sure the nearest space is available for you. We are happy for dogs to stay so long as they have their own bed with them. Although all at ground floor level we are not DDA compliant.
The villages of Pitstone and Ivinghoe are at the foot of the Chiltern Hills. The modern Pitstone Green business park is a short walk away, but the most famous landmarks are Pitstone windmill and Ivinghoe Beacon. This is an excellent location for walkers, just a short step up to the Ridgeway national long distance footpath, ending at Ivinghoe Beacon, or the National Trust's Ashridge Estate 5000 acres of beech woodland. If you prefer to stay on the level, the Grand Union Canal and its subsidiaries can take you on the towpath to Tring Reservoirs or the nearby market towns of Wendover, Aylesbury, Leighton Buzzard and Berkhamsted. Just round the corner in Pitstone there is a village shop, take away wood-fired pizzeria and Chinese restaurant. In Ivinghoe there is the local award winning Haldi Indian restaurant, CuriosiTea coffee shop and tea room, the Rose and Crown Pub and one of 'Britain's finest restaurants' The Kings Head. there is also a pharmacy, post office and shop, and hairdresser. Nearby in Tring there are three top class restaurants including Crockers Chef's Table. Pendley Manor and Ashridge House both popular wedding venues are a short drive away.

A large, comfortable room in a modern barn conversion right on the Chiltern Way and just down the road from Wendover Woods. Perfect for walkers and cyclists, equally suitable for commuters into Aylesbury (20 minutes) or Hemel Hempstead (30 minutes). We are happy for you to share our home as much or as little as you wish. Help yourself to tea, coffee and DIY breakfast of home made bread and marmalade. The shared guest bathroom and toilet are downstairs. There is free, off road parking.
We have only just moved in but have previously been hosting on our farm for nearly 4 years, so are experienced hosts and love Airbnb-ing! We'll do our best to help you make the best of your stay while we discover the delights of this beautiful part of the country too. We have three cats, who love laps to sit on. You are welcome to sit with us of an evening (there are still a few boxes around!), share our kitchen space and enjoy the acre of garden we have here. Watch this space for the development of our vegetable garden and wildflower meadows. There will be homemade bread and marmalade for breakfast, and, when the chickens arrive, we should be able to provide eggs too.
The barn sits in an acre of land, back off the road. It's very quiet apart from the calling of Red Kites, which are plentiful in this area. We are surrounded by fields and woodland. Chesham in just 15 minutes drive down the hill and Aylesbury 20 minutes up the hill. Both have a good variety of shops, banks and eateries. We'll add more as we learn more!
  • Superhosts worthy of their title! Lorraine and Mark took on a very last minute reservation from me and I was able to arrive in an hour. They were friendly, generous and hospitable, good to have a chat with there’s no obligation to chat if you’d rather be alone. I felt absolutely safe staying at their place. Room was large and bed comfortable. Their grandkids were around when I stayed and we had fun playing together. Bonus: They have 3 cats, but they keep out of the way most of the time.

Friendly, easy-going host. My lovely picturesque grade II listed Victorian manor house is situated close to Berkhamsted in an area of outstanding natural beauty in the heart of the Chilterns Hills. Close to Ashridge forest . Fast access to London, close to airports, the house is rich in history and is being restored. Wifi only 2mb but have a 4g signal. Water pressure is also Victorian but works. Couples and solos welcome. Full english breakfast available if booked in advance on request.
Double room with access to shared bathroom at Norcott Court. Belonging to the Loxley family the Elizabethan Manor, which was used as a Royalist headquarters, home to Charles Ist, for some months during the civil war, was partially rebuilt in Victorian times. In the 1920s the house was the home of the Tuke family, Sir Anthony Tuke was the founder of Barclays Bank and his grandson, also a Sir Anthony, was the Chairman of Barclays. It was later owned by Lord and Lady (Mimi) Davidson when Prime Minister Stanley Baldwin stayed there frequently as did Winston Churchill visiting from Chequers during the last war.
We are a 5/10 minute walk to Ashridge national park and forest as well as The Grand Union Canal. By walking or cycling along the canal in either direction you will come to Tring or Berkhamsted, both historic market towns with friendly locals and great restaurants/coffee houses. A nice 30 minute hike through Ashridge estate to Aldbury where you can find the Valiant Trooper and The Greyhound, both of which also serve food.

My home is close to great views and walks in Wendover Woods and Combe Hill. The Ridgeway is also easily accessible. There is a main line station to London in Wendover from which I am a 10/15 minute walk. There are several restaurants and pubs in Wendover. You’ll love my place because of the neighbourhood, the comfy bed and local ammenities. My home is good for couples, solo adventurers, and business travellers. Breakfast can be provided at an additional cost of 5 pounds per person.

In an annex of a family home, this is a brand new self-contained room with its own entrance and en-suite bathroom. As you enter you have an entrance lobby with room for coats, luggage and shoes, another door brings you into the bedroom. The room can be set up as a twin (as pictured) or as a single. The key is kept in a lock-box so you are welcome to come and go as you wish. The room also comes with a private car parking space on the gravel drive. Please let us know if you would like to use this.
The room is newly decorated in calm and pretty lilacs and blues, with a sitting area corner, with velvet armchair, long-pile rug, smart tv (Netflix, Amazon, iplayer & all catch-up channels), bookshelves, floor lamp, tea and coffee making facilities and coffee table. The bedroom also has a small wardrobe, two-drawer sideboard, large wall mirror, a bedside table and window. The en-suite bathroom has good hot shower, sink and loo and a large mirror. The bedroom is attached to the side of the main house, but there are two doors separating it - both will remain locked (one from inside the house and one from inside the bedroom).
Our house is right in the centre of historic Berkhamsted, from the door you can see Canal Fields park and the Grand Union Canal. Next door on one side is a squash and tennis club, the other side is just one neighbour and then a Lawn Bowls club. Use the bridge outside the house to cross the canal and you will be in the town centre: Berkhamsted High Street with its shops, cafes, restaurant and pubs (and market on Weds & Sats) is a mere 3 min walk away. Want to travel to London? Then all you need to do is walk 4 minutes through the park to reach Berkhamsted train station. Trains are approx every 20 minutes and take 35 minutes. Just beyond the station is the remains of Berkhamsted castle - built in 1066 by William the Conquerer. Want to stay local? Stroll down the canal tow path and stop at one of the many old canal-side pubs for a pint or a bite to eat. Love Harry Potter? The Warner Brothers Studio (Harry Potter Tour) is only a 15 min drive away - or 10 mins on the train. A short drive up the hill takes you to The Ashridge Estate and The Chiltern Hills with picturesque villages and country walks galore.

A large, comfortable room on the Chiltern Way and close to Wendover Woods. Perfect for walkers and cyclists, equally suitable for commuters into Aylesbury (20 mins), High Wycombe (25 mins) or Hemel Hempstead (30 mins). Central London (50 mins on Met Line). We are happy for you to share our home as much or as little as you wish. Help yourself to tea, coffee DIY breakfast of homemade bread and marmalade. The shared guest bathroom and toilet are downstairs. There is free, off road parking.
This room can sleep 2 and accommodate another 1 on a comfortable fold out bed. We have been here for just 9 months but are experienced hosts and love Airbnb-ing! We'll do our best to help you make the best of your stay while we discover the delights of this beautiful part of the country too. We have three cats, who love laps to sit on. You are welcome to sit with us of an evening, share our kitchen and enjoy the acre of garden we have here. Watch this space for the development of our vegetable garden and wildflower meadows. There will be homemade bread and marmalade for breakfast, and, when the chickens arrive, we should be able to provide eggs too.
The barn sits in an acre of land, back off the road in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. It's very quiet apart from the calling of Red Kites, which are plentiful in this area. We are surrounded by fields and woodland. Chesham in just 15 minutes drive down the hill and Aylesbury 20 minutes up the hill. Both have a good variety of shops, banks and eateries. There's the Roald Dhal museum in Great Missenden, Hughenden Manor near High Wycombe and Waddesden Manor and Whipsnade Zoo not far away, so there's no need to be bored. We are also about 15 minutes drive from Wendover Woods and The Gruffalo Trail! The Chiltern Way for walkers and cyclists passes right by our front boundary so there are miles of beautiful tracks to explore. We'll add more as we learn more!
  • Mark was waiting for me despite being late in the evening and was very polite and correct. The bed was very comfortable and I had a great night sleep before my race.

It is metres away from the Chiltern Way and numerous other footpaths. There are a couple of lovely pubs within walking distance. The accomodation is comfortable and the hospitality top notch. I look forward to staying in the future and would thoroughly recommend this lovely barn.

We're on the edge of Berkhamsted, a charming market town with a canal going through it, 30 minutes from London. We are 20 minutes walk from the train station/town centre, right by the woods and golf course, so great for walks. Our house feels modern, minimalist, clean and tidy. There is a lot of light as big windows and it has a nice, airy feel to it. It is smartly decorated and a 4 bedroom house with just two of us living there, plus Merlin the dog and Mulberry the outlaw cat, rarely seen!
The guest room has its own en-suite bathroom and is in a very separate, private part of the house so you will not be disturbed. It will suit people that just want to do their own thing and have their own privacy. We are busy people and although we live here, we are not around all the time so you will have plenty of your own space, plus we don't go into the annex at all.
This affluent and pretty town is really charming It's a small market town with a canal running through it and the ruins of a castle near the train station. 30 minutes on the train to Euston station. We have some amazing restaurants and pubs and what has been awarded by the BBC and the Sunday Times as the most beautiful cinema in the country.
  • If you want to sleep in a quiet area near London, this is recommended! Nice bed and personal attention.

  • A very nice place indeed. In a quiet location, very convenient for the station and the high street with pubs, restaurants (about 10-15 minutes walk). Bedroom stylishly done with a very good size ensuite bathroom. Very pleasant and helpful hosts.

  • Very good reception, good value for money. Good communication, good exchanges

    Emmanuelle2019-06-12T00:00:00Z
  • Very hospitable hosts who are never intrusive. The bedroom has a short hall that attached it to the kitchen so you have privacy but not isolation. Very comfy bed and a powerful, hot shower are wonderful.

    Lea2019-06-10T00:00:00Z
  • We loved Tim's place so much, we booked a next few days!

    Lea2019-06-06T00:00:00Z
  • The hosts are warm but not intrusive. The space is separate from the rest of the house, so you have privacy until you open the door to the kitchen. There is a spacious shower room adjoining the bedroom. It is in a quiet side road near the top of the hill. The bedroom window and door onto a private garden area. The duvet and pillows are lovely and fluffy. It is a very comfortable space.

Light bright 1880s house with a modern interior situated on a hill in a quiet residential area. 10 minutes walk from the centre of Berkhamsted. 15 minutes from the train station. This is my home and you are sharing spaces with me. Please note the house is non-smoking. Berkhamsted is a beautiful town with easy access to London nestling in the Chilterns. We have the Grand Union canal, a gorgeous Art Deco cinema, lovely restaurants and coffee shops.
Serene and calm with neutral colours on walls and neutral carpets. Well designed layout of the ground and second floors. Light and bright with lots of sunshine and blackout curtain linings to help you sleep. Beautiful garden where you are welcome to sit and enjoy bird song and fresh air. Take your coffee outside. Your bedroom is large, light and airy with a view of the garden and nearby hills. Please note the house is smoke free. The stairs to the first floor are typically steep as found in Victorian homes. There is a hand rail. Just letting you know. There are 2 steps from the path to the front door of the house. There is a hand rail. If you have mobility issues this might not be the ideal space for you. Happy to discuss before you book if this would help with your decision. If you wish to work from the dining room table as I do when I’m working at home you will find it light and the seats comfy. There is the garden room with a sofa if you wish to relax with a drink or book or your iPad. Don’t feel you have to be in your room. Or the garden itself. I work flexibly between home and the office in London so do message me as if I’m working at home an earlier check in may be possible. Feel free to ask questions so you can ensure the room meets your requirements for your stay.
Berkhamsted is in the Chilterns, leafy and green with great walking, cycling, sightseeing opportunities. The Ashridge Estate is close by. Walk along the tow path of the Grand Union Canal into town. Lovely selection of independent clothes shops and restaurants. Twice weekly market. Monthly farmers market. Several gyms. Local riding. Lots of local history and arts connections - the annual Graham Green Festival, the castle and a Berko Beer Fest and Book Fest. St Peter’s graveyard is being restored and there are some fabulous tombs and war graves to explore. Theatre at Pendley Manor near Tring.
  • Another wonderful stay with Caroline in her warm and cosy home. Perfect nights sleep, thank you!

  • Caroline is a really lovely host with a tidy, stylish and comfortable home. The room is very warm and a good size, with easy access to the bathroom and wardrobe space for long stay guests. Was lovely to chat to Caroline, and enjoyed my stay!

    Joanna2019-12-12T00:00:00Z
  • Caroline is an amazing host with a beautiful home and definitely made my stay feel like a home away from home. Couldn't have asked for more. Thank you so much.

    Connor2019-12-07T00:00:00Z
  • Caroline’s house was the most perfect place for my stay in Berkhamsted. I had a couple of questions and requests for my stay in advance and Caroline was completely accommodating with a quick response. The house is absolutely beautiful, it’s super clean and cosy, and it was just what I needed. The house is also within walking distance of the train station and local shops. Caroline herself is absolutely lovely and a pleasure to chat to. I have no reservations in recommending Caroline’s place to stay if you’re looking for somewhere that is also great value in Berkhamsted.

  • Caroline is a wonderful host and I felt very welcome as soon as I arrived. It was the perfect place for me to stay the one night (as attended a course nearby). Caroline's house is beautifully decorated and felt very tranquil. I slept well in the very comfortable bed in a good sized pretty and pristine bedroom that situated next to the bathroom. It was very peaceful at night and no outside noise. Shops and restaurants easily accessible by foot. Highly recommend.

  • An ideal accommodation for anyone looking for a neat and tidy home with a cosy atmosphere and a warm-hearted hostess. In addition, I appreciated especially the peaceful neighbourhood and the opportunity for long walks along the towing path by the scenic canal.

  • A wonderful find! The room was very clean and recently refurbished. We had our own en-suite (great bed and shower!). The location was ideal for exploring Ashridge Estate and only a short walk from Aldbury village. Mia and James made us feel very welcome. The check in was very good. They offered advice about local area and and helped us when we had problems with our car by driving to and from the local garage. We were served a breakfast every morning which set us up nicely for the day. Very highly recommended.

Barley End is one of seventeen holiday cottages at Town Farm, on the edge of the Chilterns. We are a working arable farm, with some sheep over the surrounding hills, we are lucky to have views over to Ivinghoe Beacon on one side, and Aylesbury Vale on the other. All the cottages each have their own unique charm, and we also run a campsite during the summer months. It is only a ten minute drive to Tring Railway Station, shops and facilities, or a ten minute walk to Ivinghoe village, with pub, shop and tea room. Barley End is a homely, self-catering property with spacious open plan living space and a paved courtyard to the rear. The property is all ground floor, with ramp to front door, and wet room. The open plan living area has a modern, fully equipped kitchen area with cooker, microwave, fridge, freezer, dishwasher, washer dryer and large dining counter. The lounge which comfortably seats four has a large sofa, motorized recliner chair and a flat screen TV with DVD player. The property has two bedrooms, one with a king size bed, and one with a single bed. The wet room has a large shower and a heated towel rail and tilt-able mirror. The patio area at the rear of the property is private and is accessible by a permanent ramp. This property benefits from heating by electric radiators. All our properties on Town Farm are comfortably furnished and offer all the convenience of your own home, all with fully equipped kitchens, some with dishwasher, washing machine and tumble dryer. Linen and towels are also provided, together with an information pack in the property, with a list of local activities and things to do. The location of the farm means that we have lovely views over the Vale of Aylesbury and Ivinghoe Beacon, so we are in the middle of the countryside, and yet only 10 minutes to shops, railway station and a wealth of activities the area has to offer.
We love the area because you can be in the middle of the countryside one minute and hopping on the train for a 50 minute ride to London the next. The Chilterns offer a wide variety of activities, from National Trust properties, walking through the bluebell woodlands, driving through the picturesque "Midsomer" villages, to visiting Tring Zoological museum, swooping down the real snow in Milton Keynes Snozone, or playing Top Golf in Watford. All within 30/40 minutes of the farm. We are also close to the Grand Union Canal which stretches from London to Birmingham and which offers leisurely walks and boat hire. We are also only around an hour from Stratford on Avon, a little further to Oxford and Cambridge, and is a good basis for sightseeing.

Fantastic self-contained spacious accommodation which forms part of a Grade II listed barn conversion tucked away in a beautiful hidden Chiltern valley; perfect for walking and cycling from the doorstep but also only four miles from both Berkhamsted and Chesham stations with easy access to London. The accommodation comprises of four good-sized, newly decorated rooms, all closed off from the owners who live in the other part of the barn but who are on hand should you need them.
An independent entrance opens onto a country-style kitchen/dining room with vaulted beam ceiling, well-equipped with a Smeg fridge, microwave, single induction hob, slow cooker and George Foreman Hot Plate. Up two steps, a door leads through into the lounge, with a great stock of books and large TV with Sky and xBox. Through the lounge is a corridor with doors leading to the bright and tastefully decorated bedroom with king-size bed and a large bathroom with both bath and separate shower. In front of the property is a gravel drive with ample parking.
The property sits at the bottom of a beautiful hidden Chiltern valley and adjoins stunning common land which forms part of the Chiltern Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Footpaths and lanes lead from the doorstep and stretch up to the Chiltern chalk escarpment including Wendover Woods and and Ivinghoe Beacon . The location makes it a perfect place for walking and cycling, with a great selection of pubs within a 3 mile radius . In contrast , the property is also only 4 miles from both Berkhamsted and Chesham stations , providing easy access to London including Harry Potter Warner Bros Studio Tour in Watford . Both towns, along with nearby Tring and Wendover are also worth visiting in their own right with a selection of great restaurants, bars and pubs. Truly the best of both worlds! If you're looking for some rest and relaxation, then Champneys Health Resort is a short cycle or 5 minute drive away.
  • The perfect place to get away from it all. The barn is so cosy. We had a great night's sleep. I am sure we will be back.

    Thea2020-01-12T00:00:00Z
  • Booked Rosie's barn the night before we were traveling as a place to stay near to family in Chesham. Quick and detailed response with further contact info. Map location got us there just fine and spacious parking just out front made life easy. We dropped in early evening to "check in" and were greeted in person to be shown around the barn then returned much later on to sleep the night. Sofa bed had been set up and made for us (or rather my daughter) and we were in the main bedroom next door with our youngest in the travel cot we brought along. The place itself is quite fantastic. A gorgeous barn conversion that is attached to the main house, but may as well be considered entirely separate as it's very private and no chance of disturbance on either side (something we bear in mind if our little one was to wail the night through!) Huge kitchen diner with impressive vaulted ceiling and stocked with basics for a quick brekkie. Cosy lounge with a wide and varied library and array of media, sofa bed in there was substantial and comfy. Master bedroom plush and pleasant. Bathroom again another big room, nicely presented with modern fixtures. Home from home really and we were all round delighted with our brief stay.

This is what Wikipedia says about Tring: Tring is a small market town and civil parish in the Borough of Dacorum, Hertfordshire, England. Situated in a gap passing through the Chiltern Hills, classed as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, 30 miles (48 km) north-west of London, and linked to London by the old Roman road of Akeman Street, by the modern A41, by the Grand Union Canal and by rail lines to Euston Station. Tring is indeed a lovely little town. here you only have local independent retailers not big department stores. For that you can travel 10 miles to Aylesbury or Hemel Hempstead and there you'll find everything from TKMaxx to Debenhams, or B&Q, etc., etc. But please don't despair, there's a great M&S Food Hall as well as a Tesco superstore. In Tring there's also a number of really good pubs serving real ale as well as a number of very nice restaurants. And of course Tring is the home of Tring Brewery that produces some of the best ale in the Chilterns Area. You'll find all this information in the welcome pack in the flat when you arrive.

  • Clean, Quiet and convenient. Well based for all local amenities. We used as a base in between moving homes and provided a safe and home environment. Everything was very simple to access and we didn’t need to contact the owner during our stay as was all very straightforward. Thanks

She is extremely helpful and accommodating, and goes above and beyond what is reasonably expected to ensure I had a pleasant relaxing stay at her place. Welcome to woodbine cottage. We began restoring this early Victorian cottage 2 years ago. The best feature of the house, and the reason we were drawn to it was the huge (almost an acre) garden. At the end of the garden are three Alpacas. Most of the house is now restored and fitted out with high end furnishings. There are beautiful views of fields to the front, and Ivinghoe Beacon is a stone's throw from the end of the garden. There are three parking spaces. The house has many period features.
We have some really interesting out buildings. The large garage houses a pool table, darts board, sofa and outdoor heater. (the 3rd bedroom/office) is also in an outside building, that has heating laid on. We also have a lovely Moroccan inspired covered seating area where you can eat in the Summer months. The garden is full of bulbs in the Springtime and blooms with herbascious beds in the Summer months. The garden has 3 unique areas including an orchard and a Victorian walled garden. Inside there are two living rooms with log burners, sash UPC windows, and gorgeous herringbone engineered wood flooring. Upstairs there are three double sized bedrooms with solid wood floorings. The master has beautiful views of fields, an open fireplace, pictures rails, fitted wardrobes, television, and a king sized bed. The second bedroom has a fireplace, picture rail, double bed, views of fields, and an en-suite shower room. there is also a television. The shower room is beautifully tiled and is on the cusp of design with modern black fittings. The third bedroom has a Ercol single bed and toddler cot. it has views of the garden. the fourth bedroom is in an outside annex and has laminate flooring, views of the garden and a television. It has a single bed, with a trundle bed that makes it into a double. Upstairs there is also a beautiful family bathroom with panelled walls, and a roll top bath. The kitchen is yet to be upgraded. although small it is functional and clean. It has an oven, grill, microwave oven, toaster and kettle. The other white electricals are housed in a glasshouse to the back of the property. This area is also yet to be upgraded and contains a downstairs WC. There is off-street parking for 3 cars. The house is 4 miles from the market town of Tring and 6 miles from Leighton buzzard. The house would make a wonderful base for walking. locally there are many attractions: The Ridgeway Ivinghoe Beacon Whipsnade Zoo The Grand Union Canals Asheridge Forest Wendover Forest Pitstone Windmill
The house is situated outside of the village and feels very rural. The village of Ivinghoe is picturesque and has lots of facilities. the closest town of Tring has an upmarket feel, with cafes, bars, and the natural history musem The house is 4 miles from the market town of Tring and 6 miles from Leighton buzzard. • Maritsa was a very welcoming host. A lovely place - clean, a decent sized room and a lovely shared space. I didn't have much chance to explore Tring as I was staying for a wedding at the nearby manor, but the house was a short walk to the venue. I'd definitely recommend - Thanks Maritsa

Small double room: shared bathroom/ kitchen between Aylesbury & Tring. Drinks provided but NOT breakfast. I have 2 dogs & a cat; allergic, clean freak or not a pet lover? This is NOT 4 you! 15 min drive to a station / 90 min to London
It's not the biggest room in the world (!) but it's clean and has a comfy bed. No animals go in here (unless you want to sleep with a furry hot water bottle, in which case, on your own head be it, they snore). My house is not Monica-from-Friends pristine but I do keep it as clean as I can with the dogs undoing my every effort! If you are going to fret about a dog hair in your cup of tea I'd suggest this isn't the place for you...
So, Aston Clinton is a small village with not a great deal in it! The local garage has a cash point, a small shop and is open until 10PM. The arrival of this was such big news it was announced in the local paper, seriously, it is quiet here! Realistically, you need to drive from mine to everywhere but once you do, the possibilities are endless! FOOD Nice pubs - 3 mins! Both do great food, cheaper ones a bit further out Takeaways, Chinese, Chips, Curry - all within 8 mins Supermarket 10 mins AMENITIES Stoke Mandeville Hospital - 10 mins STUFF Wendover woods / the Ridgeway / Go Ape - 10 mins Amazing walks - everywhere! Aylesbury - 10 -15 (traffic depending) Tring / also The Ridgeway - 10 mins Arla - 2 mins Wendover - 8 mins (actual pretty village!) Berkhamsted - 15 mins
  • Kathy is a great host - Very thoughtful and accommodated the fact that I was running late. The dogs are lovely and it’s a very welcoming home - and great value for money!

  • Nice house and kathy is really nice and always willing to help.

    Alix2020-01-11T00:00:00Z
  • Kathy is an amazing host. Despite some logistical troubles that meant I would be extremely late, she was happy to accommodate. The most wonderful touch was when I arrived and immediately went to bed, Kathy had provided a body length hot water bottle that made the bed even more snug and warm. It was a great stay. Thanks, Kathy.

    Helena2019-11-13T00:00:00Z
  • Kathy is an excellent host, great communication and easy check in. Easy place to find and the room was very nice, clean and tidy. Dogs were equally as lovely and really well natured, all in all I would definitely stay again if visiting the area!

Upstairs there are 2 bedrooms , a main bedroom with king-size bed and a twin room with 2 single beds.

Wendover is a small town situated in an area of outstanding national beauty at the foot of the highest point of the Chilterns hills, offering enticing country views of Wendover Woods and Coombe Hill. The picturesque high street is a mixture of shops, bars and restaurants, including a chocolaterie, delicatessens, coffee shops, cafes, tearooms, antiques, pharmacy and banks. These are supplemented by a weekly open air market. Eaters and drinkers are spoilt for choice with several pubs and Italian, Spanish, Indian, Thai, Fish and Chips and Turkish restaurants and a Chinese takeaway.
  • We spent a great Christmas holiday in Wendover, a great town to get away from it all, hiking and then crashing in some of the local pubs. Darren's place was a perfect base for that. He was so nice, offering to get us (and our luggage) from and to the station. We had a nice quiet room upstairs, very comfortable, and a big jacuzzi-style bathtub in the neighboring bathroom. Downstairs, we had full access to the vast, modern kitchen, where we prepared breakfast and Christmas meal. All worked out great, and we hope we have a chance to do it again at some point.

    Stefan2019-12-26T00:00:00Z
  • Darren was a very welcoming host and made sure I had what I needed. The accommodation was very comfortable and clean, with off-road parking which was important to me. The location is very close to the centre of town and amenities and I would definitely book again.

  • Friendly host who actually gave up his own room during my stay due to having other unforeseen guests at the same time! Darren was quick to reply to any queries I had at all times. He was also flexible in accommodating my change of arrival/departure due to last minute changes by my partners employer. Would happily stay again if in the area and recommend to anybody.
