Places to stay in Walberswick
Quiet & relaxing, perfectly positioned for exploring the Heritage coast (and with an eclectic book collection!) "The cottage has been everything we could possibly have wanted in a holiday retreat - warm, comfortable, divinely pretty and romantic!"
Welcome to Mill End From May to the end of August our aim is to let weekly Friday to Friday, short breaks will be considered at short notice if we have no weekly bookings. From September to the end of April any booking will be welcomed subject to our minimum of three nights. Please note we have seasonal pricing so make sure you have entered the dates you want to stay to get the right cost Recently refurbished, with new kitchen and new double glazed windows. Upstairs is the large, light, south facing bedroom with king size bed, armchairs and a coffee table. There is a TV with DVD player and a selection of DVDs. The bathroom is adjacent with a bath and a shower. Downstairs is the newly fully fitted kitchen/living/dining room with TV. It is a small room but sunny in summer and cosy in winter. There is a sofa bed for the occasional guest(s). (£15 for linen or bring your own) The kitchen has an oven, microwave and a 4 ring hob with cover which acts as a splashback when open. There is also a larder fridge, a freezer, a toaster and, of course, a kettle. There is a downstairs WC. The cottage has oil fired central heating. Immediately outside is a south facing terrace with a large table and an electric awning. If you have friends/family in the area you can entertain up to 10. The awning can act as a sunshade or an umbrella so even if it is drizzling it is still possible to be outside. It's an extra room! There is parking for one car. You have an exclusive private garden area - south-west facing, with a table and chairs and 2 "rocking loungers" ideal for relaxing and sunbathing - see picture. The whole garden, of which this is part, is designed mainly for wildlife - shrubs, trees and many scented hip bearing roses.
The Suffolk coast has many attractions. We have wonderful sunrises as well as sunsets in our garden. We have good bird and wild life. We are 3 miles inland from Walberswick and Southwold and close to Dunwich and Minsmere with many good walks. As well as the White Hart in Blythburgh, which has wonderful views over the estuary, there are excellent places to eat in the surrounding villages (The Anchor at Walberswick and Mains at Yoxford are in the good food guide). The nearby cafe at Darsham Nurseries has had very good reviews for unusual dishes. There are a number of farmer's markets and shops close by. Blythburgh is famous for its large and beautiful church, known as "the Cathedral of the Marshes". Concerts are held here as well as at Snape Maltings (25mins drive) during the Aldeburgh Festival and at other times of the year. The Latitude Festival (mid July) takes place about a mile from the village.
  • A lovely cosy and welcoming cottage for two, perfectly situated to explore Southwold and the lovely Suffolk countryside.

  • Lovely cosy cottage, everything we needed was provided. A warm welcome from Roderick and Claire as well. Comfortable bed and hot showers were much needed after a days walking. Was perfect for our short break in Suffolk. Their local knowledge came in very useful for amazing evening meals. Check the garden out, something different around every corner,a real work of art.

    David2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • Roderick gave very quick response to our questions reference bringing a dog which may not be to apparent on the web site . The property is easy to find and its position on the suffolk coast is ideal for striking out to many of the coast towns. The property is ideal for two people , warm and very homely with all the facilities you could wish for . The owners live in the same building and are very helpful as you would expect.

This pretty holiday cottage is 3 minutes walk from a stunning swimming beach and in the heart of well known seaside favourite, Walberswick. Steps from a Gastro pub and a lovely village green with playground, shops and cafe. Perfect for romantic getaways & family holidays.
Spacious downstairs living room /kitchen with fully equipped kitchen and all mod cons. Great for dining and playing family games. The cosy sitting room features a log fire, perfect to snuggle down in winter. In summer the kitchen opens up to a garden with seating for 4 people , a beautiful spot to catch the sun's rays and read the weekly newspapers. The bathroom is located on the ground floor and the two bedrooms on the first floor. Both bedrooms feature convenient basins ,
This is the most wonderful traditional quiet seaside village with everything you ever need minutes away. The Tuck Shop is three minutes which has everything you need from washing powder to ice creams. The village green hosts a number of shops and a cafe serving delicious lunch and teas. If you walk 5 minutes from the cottage, you reach the river which can be crossed by traditional hand rowed ferry and then a lovely walk to the quaint town of Southwold. Or take the Kissing Bridge to cross over further down the river. There are some fantastic walks to Dunwich, Blytheburgh , across marshes filled with stunning birds. It's an bird watching and hiking paradise. Walberswick is famous for its crabbing. The National Crabbing Championships used to be held here until it became too popular. Children of all ages delight in catching crabs using a simple line, weight and some bacon. Of course we put them back after catching. The Shepherd's best haul has been over 100 in one sitting but we have had years of practice. And at the end of the day, The Anchor pub or The Bell Inn (both within a stones throw) offer hearty organic meals, great Adnams ales and wines or a yummy locally caught fish and chips.
  • The cottage was lovely and cosy with heaters as well as a log fire. The location was excellent within walking distance of all amenities and with two excellent pubs on the doorstep. Would thoroughly recommend.

    Helen2020-03-09T00:00:00Z

  • Lovely place to stay. Thank you

    Helen2020-01-19T00:00:00Z
  • Clean and tidy apartment and well located in a lovely village, just a fairly short walk/ ferry ride away from Southwold too. Lovely generous breakfast food left too, which was a really pleasant surprise. Only issue is that the second bedroom (with the bunk beds) gets quite a bit of noise from the flat above. Fine if you're a good sleeper and the people upstairs are quiet, but our lot were very early risers and fairly noisy!

    Jennifer2019-11-10T00:00:00Z
  • Great value for money and also great location. Perfect for a family of 5. Very much recommend for families as perfect size for 5.

    Ian2019-10-22T00:00:00Z
  • Only wanted the one night so this suited us perfectly. Our host left a lovely selection of things for breakfast including yoghurts and orange juice plus the usual tea, coffee, milk and bread. The space is roomy so the children were able to spread out and play and were kept amused with the various games and toys that had been thoughtfully left in the apartment. Only 2 things to bear in mind - the water system is a bit noisy if you are a very light sleeper and, if you book all of downstairs, the occupants of one bedroom need to go through the other to get to the kitchen. This didn’t bother us at all but worth a little mention. We had a great stay. Thank you.

A true Hideaway built in the 1800s that lies right in the heart of the Blythburgh Woodlands. Located in the woodlands between Blythburgh. A Suffolk Village with Royal Anglo-Saxon Connections and Walberswick. This cottage is a completely secluded gem that has been restored while keeping its character and beauty. For those seeking to be away from the concrete busy world and looking to immerse themselves into another world. This is the only true experience you’d be looking for.
The Cottage dates back to the 1800s and still keeps its historical rustic nature and traditional roots, perfect for a relaxing holiday. Melting between the forest, and connected to civilization only by a private dirt road running through the woods; this cottage can house up to 7 guests (in two and a half bedrooms). As you approach the second floor, there is a family bedroom with a sofa bed that converts into two single beds and directly into the master bedroom and a second bedroom consisting of a bunk bed with a double bottom bunk, (please note that the top bunk is not suitable for adults). Please be aware that to access the second room you must go through the master room and the family room. The Cottage boasts an external BBQ and a fire pit for guests to have a warm campfire and barbeque amongst friends and families. Kitchen & Bathroom water is heated by fire and not electricity nor gas. There is a wood-heated hot tub in the front of the cottage which can be booked so the housekeeper can prepare it in advance. The surrounding scenery is very accessible; there are plenty of woodlands and beaches to explore which are not far from the cottage. You also have the famous Blyth Estuary which is just steps away from the property and is a pure haven for bird watchers and nature lovers. Deep enough in the woodlands to be the perfect retreat where you can relax in the fascinating countryside of Walberswick.
  • Really enjoyed our experience at this very unique property. Hope to visit again!

  • What an unforgettable experience at Paolo's cottage in the woods. Perfect winter break at this last minute gem of a find. Faultless communication throughout the whole process, from booking to check in and check out. The cottage itself is beautiful and if possible even more stunning in real life. It was everything we expected and more. Thank you so much for being so accommodating, for the information and tips beforehand and all the little touches that just put us at ease straight away. We really can't wait to return over the summer. Thank you again!

  • Perfect rustic, country get away.

    Gareth2019-11-06T00:00:00Z
  • We had the most wonderful two days at the cottage in the woods. The location is amazing and so isolated. The kids loved exploring the woods, swinging in the tree swing and soaking in the hot tub. A real gem.

    Lindsay2019-08-29T00:00:00Z
  • Four of us stayed in the cottage over a long weekend and had a wonderful and relaxing time. The cottage is in a secluded glade down a track in a nature reserve far from the main road and other houses - perfect for getting away from it all. The house itself is charming, well-appointed and rustic. The hot tub was a nice touch and we got a lot of use of it. The host was responsive and check in and check out were very smooth. By way of local amenities, the popular seaside village of Walberswick is a 45-minute walk away, with two great pubs and long stretch of beach. We hope to visit again soon.

  • The cottage is located in a beautiful and secluded area, very calm and you may have a feathery visitor or two to the garden from the local pheasant farm. We felt at home in the cottage, making log fires and playing with boardgames that are supplied.

    Natalie2019-08-18T00:00:00Z
  • Take a trip back in time and escape the modern world. This cottage is fantastic at making you slow down and appreciate the beauty of nature. Nestled in a forest, you are surrounded by wildlife. Lighting a fire to heat water to wash with and having fun with the firepit and bbq gives you an amazing insight into life in the 1800s. Thank goodness for firelighters and comfy beds though!

Walberswick is a beautiful, unspoilt village situated at the mouth of the River Blyth. There are no amusement arcades or candy floss to be found, but families seeking pleasure in the peace and quiet of the beach, river, marshes and heathland will find it here. Perhaps one of the most iconic views of Walberswick is that of its fishermen's huts and houses on stilts. They were once far more numerous, but the great storm of 1953 washed many away and the picturesque Tea Rooms was last seen floating merrily away down the river.
  • this is a very nice place. has everything you need, well kitted out, with a few nice additional tpouches: ice in freezer, cereals, fruit etc.... everything is clean and works well. Hugh was on hand to help us find it (which is not at all hard) then left us to it which was ideal. would highly recommend this for any body.

    George2019-10-21T00:00:00Z
  • Best Airbnb we have ever stayed. The location couldn’t be more perfect in this sweet village. Hugh and his wife couldn’t be more lovely and the Hobbit House was spotless, quaint and comfortable. We are looking forward to booking our return in the spring!

    Katelyn2019-09-16T00:00:00Z
  • Hugh was the perfect host who was very welcoming on arrival, full of information and tips to help us have a wonderful stay, which we certainly did, we would loved to have stayed longer. The cottage is amazing Sue and Hugh have put so much thought into making it so stylish and comfortable with everything that you could possibly need, and it was super clean too, we will definitely return to this gorgeous cottage with the perfect hosts (and not forgetting their lovely dog Poppy who was no bother at all). The cottage is set in the prettiest village with easy access to Southwold, we didn’t use our car once we walked everywhere and thoroughly enjoyed it.

    Liz2019-09-10T00:00:00Z
  • This a real gem of a place. It’s a cute & quirky and very comfortable. The room is very cosy and you will have everything you need. Hugh & Sue have thought of everything. It’s very clean, the bed is comfy & the little extras also make it special.

  • 'Super Host' just does not do Hugh and Sue justice. They were fantastic. The Hobbit House is rather special - full of character, beautifully presented and wonderfully situated. Hugh is a real treasure and the village wonderful.

  • We loved our stay at The Hobbit House and are already talking about a return trip! Hugh was very accommodating, even coming out to find us in the rain when we were lost. Charming little cottage with thoughtful personal touches throughout - the fresh flowers, and strawberries in particular won me over!

Rush Cabin is in the rear garden of our cottage, on a rural lane just outside of Southwold. It is a nicely proportioned, self-contained unit in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty with delightful, unspoilt views of the Benacre Marshes and the sea in the distance. It has heating and air conditioning. Guests have off-street parking for one car and everything you need for a peaceful break - with beautiful Southwold just down the road. We have solar and use a renewable-only energy supplier.
Welcome to Rush Cabin. Our cabin centres around a main space with lounge, dining area and a sleeping area with a kitchenette (with two ring gas hob and combi-oven/microwave). It has a fridge freezer, sink etc and a small island unit for preparing food. The cabin has a double sofa and a double bed in the main space, you have a distinct area for sitting, dining and sleeping. The cabin has a small dining table inside with 3 chairs. For families who request 4 guests, we can provide an additional chair on request and an extra child's 'z-bed' for the floor of the main space. There is a hanging rail for clothes, a TV and a variety of storage units. The cabin has a bathroom with toilet, sink and shower. There is a small separate bedroom with a single fold-away bed and a set of drawers, the bedroom is decorated for a young guest but can be used for an adult. Please note the fold-away bed is adult size but not a permanent single bed. It is a 'put-you-up' bed with an extra memory foam layer for comfort. We've had guests of all ages sleep on it happily but we just want to flag it's not a normal single bed. The bedroom will fit 1 guest, if you are a family of 4, be aware one of the children will be accommodated in the main space with you. From the cottage and cabin, we often see Muntjac Deer, pheasants (normally in the garden), owls, Buzzards, Marsh Harriers, bats, hares and rabbits by the dozen. Keep your eyes peeled for nature spots. The stars at night are spectacular as we don't have much light pollution. We allow guest parking on the drive for 1 car. There is a WiFi network in the cabin (details are in the house manual for guests). We provide bed linen and towels for all guests, plus all of the essentials listed the amenities section.
We live on a quiet, rural lane on the outskirts of Reydon, which is the village next to and connected to Southwold. The cabin has stunning views of an RSPB reserve, fields and the sea and provides peace & quiet away from the crowds of town.
  • Jess and Dan's cabin was lovely with all the amenities you could need including a gas hob, microwave/oven, kitchen utensils and plenty of room to prepare a meal. The space felt very private from the main house with blinds on all the windows and views across rolling countryside and lots of local wildlife! It is about a 25 minute stroll from the house into Southwald and there are plenty of other beaches within short driving distance. Jess was very quick to reply to messages, sent very detailed directions and arrival instructions and was in hand to give us a warm welcome. I would highly recommend their place for a nice retreat and would love to stay again!

    Joe2020-03-21T00:00:00Z
  • A peaceful weekend escape - a perfect retreat from the busyness of everyday life. We enjoyed the amazing views from the cabin and being only a few minutes’ drive from the beach was wonderful.

  • This is a beautiful cabin, it has beautiful decor and lovely finishing touches. I would definitely visit again x

  • Great place to stay, good location. Loved the cabin, there is everything you need for a lovely stay. Jessica responded quickly, and any issues were dealt with very quickly. Very peaceful and amazing watching the wildlife.

  • Nice cabin on the country-side, perfect for a get-away from London, with some nice walking routes and places to explore along the Suffolk coast.

    Markus2020-02-18T00:00:00Z
  • Had a great weekend at Rush Cabin and Jess made sure it was ready with those little extras that make things so much better. Plenty of room for us and our little one with a great view of the fields and the bird life. Only one minor niggle - the blinds are hard to operate (esp. for someone less burly) but otherwise we would not hesitate to recommend a stay!

The Old Lamp Room used to store the lamps for the lighthouse until it became automatic. It is now an annexe to the old Lighthouse Keeper’s Cottage, which is our family home. Guests have their own front door and are free to use the small front courtyard garden which has a bistro table and chairs. Situated up a small path, behind the lighthouse and moments from the beach. The high street with its shops, restaurants and pubs is a 5 minute stroll away. An ideal cosy bolt hole.
There is a kitchenette with table and chairs and a shower room. The kingsize bed is on a mezzanine level, accessed by a staircase. Please note that the head height of the mezzanine is restricted. An ideal small and quirky bolt hole for those looking to eat most of their meals out, but with space to prepare breakfast and cold meals, or even chill a bottle of wine.!
  • Ideal location situated right in the centre of Southwold but tucked down a quiet allyway. The description is accurate, it is small, although the bathroom is quite luxurious. The bed was very comfortable, just mind your head on the low ceiling. Laura was very helpful as we arrived early. We had fresh bread, butter and a pint of milk waiting for us on arrival, a nice touch. We didn't get to meet in person as accommodation had it's own entrance and was very private. Will certainly look to use it again.

    Stanley2020-03-15T00:00:00Z

  • The Old Lamp Room is a lovely quirky place to stay. Very clean and comfortable in a great location. The rainfall shower is fantastic.

  • A great spot in the centre of everything. You do need to keep yourself busy as it’s compact but very clean and modern.

  • I and my dog enjoyed our stay! The location is great, right in the heart of Southwold by the lighthouse, yards from the beach, a short walk to the high street, also right by the church and the Adnams brewery - the smell of malt & hops as I got out of the car took me right back to my childhood! The Old Lamp Room is a sweet little place, it is very small but really cleverly designed, private and well equipped. Very warm in the chilly February winds. Lovely shower. All spotlessly clean. Laura is a great host who responds quickly and provided thoughtful touches such as flowers, fresh milk and dog treats. I’d definitely stay again

    Anna2020-02-13T00:00:00Z
  • Clever 'tiny house' in a fantastic location just 2 minutes from the beach and Southwold shops. Great base from which to explore the area, walking, shopping, lots of places nearby to eat and drink. The kitchen area is perfect for breakfast and snacks with a fridge to keep wine and treats from the local deli. Modern clean and comfy with thoughtful touches provided. Romantic weekend hideaway :-)

There is crockery, cutlery and glassware for four guests, and a 1.5 size basin/drainer, with ample worktop. There is a Miele washing machine in the kitchenette too, which normally belongs to the main house, but feel free to use it! Sorry, no dryer. Extra Loo >>>> Off the kitchen there is a separate and recently refurbished separate WC/wash basin. PLEASE NOTE: There is no separate living room in the guest wing. There is a small two-seater sofa in the bedroom to relax on, and of course the table and chairs in the kitchen. (Access to the back garden is just for the owner or for guests in the main house). The first floor also has wooden floorboards and beautiful beamed ceilings. Bedroom Two The Juliette balcony is a special feature in this room that has a king-size bed, side shelves and plus a cupboard with shelves for your storage and hooks on the door if you’re wanting to hang some clothes. A wooden deck wraps around two sides of the house, overhanging the pond on one side, with furniture for outside dining and doors from the dining/kitchen area making it easy to eat in the open air. The hot tub sits on the deck at the side of the property, conveniently close to the master bedroom. At the side is a lawn with graceful willow trees rustling in the breeze however, due to the grass being sown in the winter, the area's not well established as yet.
This substantial holiday house is in a great location for exploring all that the picturesque Suffolk Coast has to offer, with fashionable Southwold just six miles away with a sandy beach, iconic pier and excellent range of shops, eateries and, for beer lovers, home to the famous Adnams Brewery. From a practical perspective, the market town of Halesworth is just three miles away, with a good selection of both independent shops and supermarkets, a railway station with connections to Liverpool Street and The Cut Arts Centre with a two-week arts festival in the autumn. Halesworth Golf Club is close by, there are plenty of amazing walks and cycle roots, fishing and sailing close by. Bird lovers are sure to enjoy the fantastic birdlife right on the doorstep or go further afield to Minsmere Nature Reserve.

Little Owl Cottage is set a stones throw away from Dunwich beach, overlooking Dingle Marsh Nature Reserve. With the Suffolk Coastal Path right on the doorstep this is the perfect cottage to escape from it all and take in all the beauty that the Suffolk Coast has to offer. With two large bedrooms, an extensive open plan living/kitchen area and a private south facing courtyard this 18th Century cottage is a little piece of heaven in the sleepy village of Dunwich.
With exposed, original beams throughout this cottage started off its life in the 18th Century as the cart shed for the main farm. The space is on one level so is perfect for those who find climbing stairs a little more difficult.
Dunwich is a sleep coastal village set on the Suffolk Heritage Coast. Steeped in history the village was once a large trading port but due to many storms in the 12th Century much was lost to the sea. The village still boasts a village pub, the Ship Inn, and also a fabulous Tearooms, Dingle Hill Tearooms.
  • The pictures do not do this lovely cottage justice. It's spacious but still feels homely. Plenty of storage in bedrooms and kitchen has all that's needed. Under floor heating is amazing. Area is beautiful and the tea rooms next door are a must visit. We also had a lovely meal in The Ship but woukd recommend booking. Walks are amazing and we saw red deer!! Sophie is a wonderful host and her Mum was helpful too when we needed a scary lead for dvd. All in all a perfect weekend.

  • A lovely rural retreat. very comfortable, clean and great for dogs. You can hear the sea from the cottage and there is a fabulous pub close by. There is a tea room next door which has a great menu. Thoroughly recommend this cottage and host.

  • We had a lovely time at the Little Owl Cottage. The heated floor was decadent, the place is extremely spacious and it is a 7-minute walk to the beach. Super nice! Also, the tea room nearby is very neat for a tea or cake in between.

    Max2019-09-15T00:00:00Z
  • Great place to explore dunwich and Southwold, amongst the other villages close by. The accommodation is next door to a lovely tea room and nursery also owned by the hosts, who were so friendly and informative . There’s also the ship inn for dinner and the beach a 5 min walk away from the accommodation.

    Emma2019-08-12T00:00:00Z
  • Spacious accommodation for 4 people, really dog friendly too with enclosed garden and fantastic location for long walks, bike rides and only a short walk to the beach, pub and a great tearoom next door too. We had a fantastic time.

    Marijke2019-07-19T00:00:00Z
  • The Little Owl is the nicest, most peaceful and tranquil air bnb we've stayed in. The location is fantastic if you love beautiful countryside and wildlife, we were lucky enough to see a barn owl in the field opposite 3 of the 4 nights we stayed which was amazing. The accommodation itself is lovely and much bigger then we expected! It's located at the of a 75 minute walk to Warbleswick and there are lots of other scenic local walks. It's also less than 5 minutes walk to the Ship Inn in Dunwich, which for years has been our favourite Suffolk pub, and a 5 minute walk to the beach. Would 100 % recommend and hope to return, and Sophie was really friendly and helpful too 😁

    Christine2019-07-12T00:00:00Z
  • A wonderful part of the country with lots to see and do, also really dog friendly not just the accommodation but the surrounding area too.

2 Hall cottages is set in the beautiful suffolk countryside 2 minutes from coastal town of Southwold. The cottage backs onto Reydon woods and is a quiet peaceful place to stay. The bathroom is downstairs and I do have two sweet little doggies. Plenty of parking and bus route to most other towns and villages. Directions; Coming from the A12 take the Wangford turn off and follow the road for 1.5 miles my 2 Hall cottage is the middle one of three opposite Wexford House.
Cosy cottage offers a friendly, relaxed and happy atmosphere like a home from home.
I live in a lovely little Hamlet with just 7 properties so quiet, countryside views and it is an area of out standing beauty.
  • Warm and cosy. Lovely host

  • Vanessa is a lovely lady, very easy going and helpful. I loved the quirkiness of the house. The bed is very comfortable and slept soundly both nights I stayed. The location is very peaceful and ideal for touring the area. The bathroom is down stairs which may not suit all. I would definitely stay again

    Elaine2019-09-03T00:00:00Z
  • Vanessa was welcoming, and the accomodation provided everything I needed for my night's stay.

    Stephen2019-07-18T00:00:00Z
  • Kind and friendly host and a lovely character cottage. Everything was as advertised and Vanessa was very helpful - allowing me to arrive late in the evening and giving me a lift the following morning so I didn't have to wait for the bus

    Fiona2019-07-02T00:00:00Z
  • Vanessa's place is compact small house in the middle of three with a single extension housing the bathroom at the rear. It is set in the most idyllic rural setting with nature to the front and back, being on the outskirts of Reydon. There is a sign for Wexford House opposite but it is hidden by trees. The venue room is to the front and I did not need to close my curtains at all, it was no private! The room is well proportioned with a lovely small sofa positioned by the window so there is view of nature. It's brilliant value for money, I had an extremely good rest before moving onto my next destination, and Vanessa is very hospitable. It does what it says on the tin, with the cherry being the gorgeous rural setting. Thanks Vanessa!!

  • Vanessa is a good host, very helpful and a calming influence if like me you’ve just played golf badly at Aldeburgh! Location is 5 minutes from Southwold and in the country side, i enjoyed my time in the sunny garden eating breakfast. Bedroom was comfortable and clean, internet was very good and of course there is off road parking on the premises. Two dogs bark on the first meeting and then you wouldn’t know they were there, lovely temperament. Bathroom is downstairs through the kitchen which i didn’t find a problem.

Bovis Cottage is located on Barnaby Green, just off the High Street in Southwold. There is an open-plan living and dining area at the front of the cottage with the kitchen at the back. The bathroom is off the utility area downstairs and has a bath with shower over, wash basin and wc. At the back of the house there is a small sun room and garden which gets the afternoon sunlight. There is garden furniture available for use. The cottage has a number of features which date back to when it was built and the property is grade II listed. The staircase is spiral and leads up to a landing and the main bedroom. The bedroom has plenty of storage space and a window looking out onto Barnaby Green. The second bedroom is on the second floor, in the eaves and makes a charming, cosy room for children. There are twin single beds and storage on the landing. There is parking to the side along Spinner's Lane but this is not designated for Bovis Cottage. Further parking is available on the common. The rear garden can be accessed via a right of way through two other gardens from Spinner's Lane but there is no right of way past Bovis Cottage and the rear garden is enclosed. Manor Lodge is perfectly suited to a family holiday in Walberswick. A really splendid holiday house with a superb garden in the heart of the village. The house is very warm and comfortable all year round and has a lovely log burner in the sitting room, perfect for the colder months! During the summer months you will find the pretty garden and terrace the perfect place to have a BBQ and dine outside with the garden furniture.
This fantastic family holiday home has the following layout: Downstairs: Kitchen / dining room Sitting room with woodburner Double bedroom Utility room Shower room Upstairs: Master bedroom Family bathroom Double bunkbed room Outside: Large garden BBQ Patio area Off street parking This delightful coastal village is a popular holiday destination for those who wish to experience Walberswick's unspoilt dunes, its beach and its charm. Within Walberswick there are tea rooms, restaurants, two public houses, an art gallery, village shop, original crafts and gift shops. Fresh fish can be bought from the harbour huts on the Southwold side of the River Blyth, which may be crossed by pedestrians and cyclists either by the bailey bridge or the foot ferry that runs during the summer months. A wide variety of flora and fauna makes Walberswick popular with ramblers and visitors alike. A major attraction for children in summer is crabbing by the harbour, where bridges and river banks become crammed with buckets, lines – and foul smelling bait! From 1980 to 2010 Walberswick annually hosted the British Open Crabbing Championship. Over the years this annual family event has raised useful funds for various charities and good causes, both local and national, while participants enjoyed the delights of this simple outdoor pleasure.
  • We had the loveliest weekend at manor lodge. It is a beautiful house, although could do with a bit of modernisation but it had charm and warmth in abundance. Perfectly located for a getaway by the sea and a lovely cosy pub, The Anchor, for a scrumptious Sunday roast. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend it.

    Sarah2020-02-10T00:00:00Z
  • This was a lovely Airbnb. There was a coop right across the street and the local pub was only 4 min walk which we visited quite frequently. The heating wasn't turned on when we arrived so it was quite cold in the house at first. But that was resolved as soon as we found out how it turn it on. The only issue we faced was to run out of hot water in the morning with everyone was bathing so a few of us had to have a cold shower. Other than that it was very lovely house. We would to return in the summer so that we can fully take advantage of the surroundings.

  • A lovely home in a fantastic location. Really enjoyed our stay here and would highly recommend.

    Matthew2019-09-19T00:00:00Z
  • A lovely house, well set up for our family with children and grandparents (with the family taking the upstairs rooms, and the grandparents in a sort of annex-y bit: each with their own bathroom). It was well set up for wet weather (something we didn't experience this week) with plenty of board games, puzzles and netflix. But if you have weather like we did - it was a 5 minute walk (or even shorter cycle) to the beach: great for swimming or crabbing (we made good use of the crabbing kit from the house). A lovely outside eating area and a big safe garden for the children to play in meant evenings and mornings were very relaxed and fun. An excellent pub nearby. All in all, a lovely relaxing week's stay.

    Helen2019-08-31T00:00:00Z
  • Great stay in Walberswick! Lovely house with all the kit that you need for catering for the family. Fab ping pong table too!

  • We had a lovely stay at Harry's. Accommodation great and we had fab weather

    Alison2019-06-30T00:00:00Z
  • lovely spot. I have always loved Walberswick and I also love this house. Accommodation is a Master Bedroom and a bunk room with 4 beds in the main house and then a downstairs double suite which worked really well for us as it was my family of four plus some friends.

    Richard2019-05-20T00:00:00Z
  • I spent a weekend at Manor Lodge with a group of friends and we had a wonderful time. The house is just as lovely as the photos--the garden was even bigger, with a table tennis table too! We really appreciated all of the little touches like that, including the excellent selection of games in the sitting room, and the woodburner too. The kitchen is also well-stocked, although the oven is a bit idiosyncratic. And the off-street parking was very useful. The location was stellar. Easy to find, just across the road from a little co-op, and then down the road from the fabulous pub, the Anchor. It's only about a ten minute walk to the beach at Walberswick with its sand dunes and birdlife, and then it's about half an hour (including the pedestrian ferry) to get into Southwold for the day. The only things which could have been improved were very minor. We would have appreciated slightly more toilet roll--four rolls for a group of eight over three days/two nights isn't a huge amount, and it's always a hassle to have to purchase extra essentials when on such a short trip. And communication could have been faster as well, though Harry and Lucy were helpful when they responded. But all in all, these were very small things. As I said, we had a great stay in Manor Lodge. Everyone had a wonderful time.

This mews house is part of a select development situated in arguably the best spot in Reydon, next to Mights Bridge which links Reydon with the popular coastal town of Southwold with excellent range of independent shops, cinema, a supermarket, pubs, restaurants and take-aways as well as the iconic pier and lighthouse, picturesque beaches, golf courses and sailing opportunities. The village itself has a local shop and pub too. A short drive, or healthy walk away is the pretty village of Walberswick with more gastro pubs to choose from and there are more stunning forest walks in Dunwich and the award winning bird reserve at Minsmere.
  • Nice holiday place for families, walkable to Southwold. Lovely views and property.

Located in one of Southwold's stunning Victorian townhouses, Kestrel is a beautifully presented ground floor apartment. Standing in a prime position in the heart of Southwold with glimpses of the sea from the front sitting room, it is within easy walking distance of the High Street shops and a minutes walk to the sea front. This is vintage chic at its best, offering families a stylish retreat!
What our guests say: "A great holiday week for us all - we've been coming to Southwold for over twenty years and this is the nicest place we've ever stayed in..." "Back again enjoyed our stay... trust you'll enjoy your days at the Kestrel... We will be back in May..."
This self catering holiday cottage in Southwold is located in a terrace of houses, a short walk from the town's popular shops, cafes and delis. The sandy beach at Southwold is adorned with a string of colourful beach huts that lead along to Southwold Pier at one end and towards Southwold Harbour at the other end the town boasts several excellent pubs and restaurants as well as a range of independent shops and galleries. There is a pretty walk through the harbour and over a footbridge to the picture-postcard village of Walberswick, home to two good pubs (The Anchor and The Bell) and a long sandy beach. Fresh fish can be bought from the fish huts along the harbour. Southwold is home to the Adnams Brewery and the town's excellent pubs include one of our personal favourites, The Lord Nelson where you can try a range of Adnams bitters.
  • Lovely 2 bed apartment so close to the beach and half way between the shops and pier.

    * A fabulous place to self isolate for the month of MAY * please get in contact to discuss a month long rental. Super cute one bedroom barn with plenty of natural light, beautifully decorated and with a private garden courtyard. The Studio is set in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty on a gorgeous leafy farm only 5 minutes from the seaside town of Southwold.
Newly converted, The Studio at High Wood Farm offers an escape from the hustle bustle of daily life. Situated on a quiet country lane tucked away from prying eyes, this one bedroom little slice of paradise means you can relax and recharge your batteries whilst enjoying some stunning local countryside. The popular and picturesque seaside town of Southwold is a mere five minutes away by car or if you fancy it, a 15 minute bike ride. Beautifully decorated with all your comforts in mind, this bijou little gem sits in its own grassy private courtyard with a large decking area where you can sit out and enjoy the fresh country air. The Studio offers privacy and is not overlooked by others. The decor is modern Scandinavian and as such it is full of light and warmth. (If you are at all light sensitive, it might be worth bringing an eye mask). The bed is super comfortable and the en-suite bathroom offers a bath with shower as well as a hand held shower head. We should point out that we are on a septic tank and therefore nothing bar natural waste should be put in the loo. There is hanging space for your clothes and we provide a hairdryer. The sitting area has a two seater sofa with a woollen blanket, some cushions and a cowhide rug on the floor. There is a smart TV. We provide some books, games, packs of cards and local maps. There is a breakfast bar with two stools to enjoy your breakfast at. We provide fresh bread, eggs, butter, a small selection of jams, and some other treats or two. The kitchen is fully equipped with a toaster, kettle, oven/microwave combo, radio, dishwasher and fridge. We have tried hard to make it a little home from home but if you are missing anything essential please just let us know and we will do our utmost to help. The outside decking area has two chairs, and a log for a table. It is a lovely space to sit out in the sun and in the evenings the outside lights light up the brick courtyard showing the original farm building in all its glory. Given that we live on a farm, there are animals about - we have horses, a farm dog, Jarvis, who is very lovely and super friendly and who likes to pay the odd visit, some beef cattle and the occasional chicken. We also have bees, insects and birds - we live in a diverse little community and we enjoy the odd noises and smells that sometimes come with living in the countryside. On the whole, it is a beautiful and lovely place to stay. It is very quiet and a great place to come back to at the end of a busy day for a glass of wine/beer or gin and a restful nights sleep.
Southwold is our nearest town and is super popular with old and young alike. It has fabulous beaches, a wealth of restaurants and pubs, lovely walks, the pier, the harbour and plenty of great activities for everyone to enjoy. Other places of note are Walberswick, Dunwich, Aldeburgh, Snape Maltings, Framlingham and it's castle, Norwich an hour to the north and Ipswich, an hour to the south.
  • The perfect place to get away, enjoy peace and quiet, it’s an easy cycle to southwold and beautiful surroundings.

    Sarah2020-03-19T00:00:00Z
  • The Studio is a fantastic space: clean, stylish (even better than it looks in the photos), well laid out and in a great location. 5 minutes drive into Southwold (visit Two Magpies Bakery) and a short walk to Reydon Wood.

    Noah2020-02-20T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great time in the studio. It’s an excellent space - so nicely designed and really cosy. Great location for trips to southwold and countryside walls. Would definitely recommend!

    Elizabeth2020-02-01T00:00:00Z
  • Cosy and warm studio with plenty of space in the kitchen and a good size bath with shower. Very peaceful setting and an excellent view of the stars due to very little light pollution

    Victor2020-01-21T00:00:00Z
  • This is simply the best I could ever imagine . The architectural design , its harmony with the surrounding landscape. The peacefulness. And a pleasure to cook in a perfect kitchen. Many thanks to Filippa !

    Louis2020-01-15T00:00:00Z
  • Had a great stay in a comfortable accommodation a short drive from Southwold. A perfect stop for a weekend away. Filippa was very helpful and quick to reply to messages.

    Wendy2020-01-12T00:00:00Z
  • We think we found the perfect place to have a relaxing stay after a busy Christmas. Fillipa's place is a stylish and modern barn conversion with a private garden set in wonderful countryside. Check-in couldn't have been easier and the accommodation is sparklingly clean with a lovely kitchen and living area, a modern bathroom and bedroom. We stayed here in January so we didn't use the garden area but I'm sure we would have if the weather had been warmer, it is private and secluded with loads of sunlight to enjoy. Southwold is a manageble walk of around a mile and a half away which is a pretty seaside town with plenty of independent shops and great pubs along with a lovely beach, pier and prom. We will definitely be staying here again!

    Colin2020-01-06T00:00:00Z
  • My husband and I stayed in the studio over Christmas as our family were staying in the barn next door. It's a wonderful little retreat - so peaceful and cosy, and equipped with everything you need. The quiet location is perfect for getting away from it all, and Filippa is a very attentive (but not at all intrusive) host. Highly recommend!

Eastwood Lodge is a great place to start if you’re looking to relax in the exuberant countryside of Walberswick. The entire twin unit is for yourself. You'll be in the heart of the Suffolk Coast National Nature Reserve, just 4 mins drive or 15 mins walk from Walberswick town and its stunning coastline beaches. Walberswick have the best salt marshes around. The lodge dates back to the 1900 and still keeps its historical rustic nature and traditional roots, perfect for a relaxing holiday.
The lodge is composed of four separate units: On the ground floor brings you the main unit and on the first floor, three more units with different set ups to meet all different guests needs. The newly refurbished, self-contained studio sleeps two people and has a spacious bedroom overlooking the garden. The studio has two single beds, a fully equipped shower and a separate kitchenette. The kitchenette includes a fridge, kettle, toaster, microwave and also comes equipped with crockery and cutlery, however please be aware these are not cooking facilities.
The surrounding scenery is very accessible; there are plenty of woodlands and beaches to explore which are walking distance from the property. You also have the famous Blyth Estuary, which is just behind the property and is upmost a pure haven for bird watchers and nature lovers. The property is located within the heart of the Suffolk Coast and Heaths Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty nature reserve. A very beautiful area surrounded by breathtaking aspects of nature. You are just 4 minutes drive or 15 minutes’ walk from Walberswick town and its stunning coastline beaches. In the Town, you will find food stores, pubs and restaurants to suit all your needs during your stay. Suffolk coasts have large areas of protected wild naturals habitats along the coast, which includes beach, dunes, forest, heathland and the river Harbour. Dunwich heath is a 10-15-minute drive which is owned by the National Trust. Many beautiful areas with mixture of exuberant views to see. You will also have access to RSPB Minsmere, which is 20 minutes drive from the property known for the many species of birds they consist of alongside fellow birdwatchers. There are also many other attractions which is open most of the year round and you will find more information in the leaflets provided at the main entrance giving a more in-depth of the locations/opening times/prices etc. These include visiting Framlingham Castle, Orford Castle, Stonham Barns Owl Sanctuary, Africa Alive (zoo), Eastern Farm Park and more. If you walk/drive into Walberswick you are then able to walk over the Bailey bridge and you are then in Southwold, which is most definitely worth a visit. You can also use the little ferry, which takes you over the harbor once again ending up on the Southwold side.
  • The upstairs twin apartment is an ideal little bolt-hole for a rural stay on the Suffolk coast. The lodge is about a 10mins walk into Walberswick, but only 1min in the car. There is a little Co-Op store in the village. This is a rural stay on a farm, so ideal for getting away from it all. The heating is really effective, the WiFi good and the shower was great. The breakfast bits were nice - milk, cereals, bread OJ and yoghurts - ideal. Do be aware there is no hob or oven - just microwave, fridge, kettle, toaster, but as long as you're aware it's fine! The half hour walk to Southwold can be done across a bridleway (so off road) and is lovely. I would re-book another trip without hesitation.

  • A comfortable stay and welcoming to our dog. Lots of good walks and some excellent places to eat. Takes a little while to warm up in cold weather and the plumbing could be better, but this wouldn't prevent us from returning. Working wifi, TV and refrigerator are nice touches.

    Leo2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • The lodge was delightful. Super clean, nice touches with the breakfast, good location and overall, great value!

    Paul2019-10-23T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great stay here! Paolo responded quickly, gave us the use of a cot bed free of charge and was very accommodating to our needs. The place itself was easy to find and enter. It was very clean and comfortable. I especially enjoyed the special touches that were left - milk, butter, bread, croissants and teas and coffees. Walberswick itself is absolute beautiful and you are just a short drive into the village from here. Thank you Paolo.

    Kara2019-09-13T00:00:00Z
  • Nice fresh room in a quiet location just out of the village but great to head off over the common in several directions for the great walks. Comfortable beds and clean and quiet.

    Cathy2019-09-10T00:00:00Z
  • I really enjoyed my stay at Paolos place. I went with my dog and loved exploring all the walks in the country side around. The pace was comfortable and very relaxing.

Cosy house with everything you need, the kids loved sleeping in the attic! Amazing location, the green in front of the house was great for the kids whilst we were cooking dinner. • The property is very comfortable, with everything you need to make your stay enjoyable. The instructions were very clear making entrance and details of the property easy to understand. Dan goes that extra mile and gives great advice on the area. I highly recommend this property.

  • Really good location, within easy walking distance of the beach, which was ideal for us and our 3 yr old. Dan was very communicative and responsive. Would recommend.

  • This is a lovely, very quaint cottage in a beautiful location on the village green just a few minutes walk from the beach and river. We visited in winter and it was very cosy with the log burner. The kitchen is very well appointed with everything you could need including a high chair for a baby. Dan was very helpful and communicative. The village has two very friendly pubs, and some lovely little shops including a great deli. Would definitely recommend!

    Emma2019-03-10T00:00:00Z
  • Very nice little cottage on the green, with a parking spot outside the front door. Open plan living area, dining and kitchen with comfortable chairs and sofa and a wood burner, with some logs provided. Everything we needed in the way of equipment and utensils for cooking our meals was available. If it's cold outside you may need to buy some more logs, although the central heating, which is on a timer, is very effective when it's on. Nicely decorated throughout with many pictures, and has as real "cottage" feel. Owner is very responsive and keen to be of help with any questions, or suggestions as to what to see/do locally There is also a resident's car parking ticket for the car parks close to the beach. May very well return some time.

Greenside is a 20 minute walk to Southwold beach & High Street which offers plenty of choice for breakfast & dinner. A self contained room with own entrance & parking outside on drive. It is attached to our family home but completely private. The room has been recently refurbished to a high standard with luxury touches such as a feather mattress topper, 100% cotton bedding & fluffy towels and small fridge - big enough for a few essentials, such as milk (provided), water, wine etc.
Greenside has been tastefully refurbished with a seaside flavour. The room has direct access to the garden which guests are free to use. The private en-suite bathroom has an electric shower and shaver point. We provide TV with Freeview and the room has good Wi-fi. There are tea & coffee making facilities in the room.
We think of Reydon as a suburb of Southwold. The Blue Flag beach with its famous beach huts is a 20 minute walk as is the vibrant High Street with over 80 independent shops & restaurants. We are well placed for exploring the whole of the Suffolk coast. Aldeburgh, Snape, Woodbridge can be reached in well under an hour.

A unique custom-built beach house located in a secluded and stunning Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Finished in July 2018 to a very high standard, with stunning views towards the cliffs and beaches of Covehithe, The Listening Station is a contemporary property designed to blend in with its natural surroundings. As with its sister property, The Watch Room, it sleeps four in two spacious double bedrooms with en-suite bathrooms. The central area of the property is a comfortable living / eating area opening out on to a decked terrace. With only a low-lying cliff-edge and a near-private beach separating you from the sea, sit outside and enjoy the changing light of Suffolk’s big skies and appreciate nature at its best. The Listening Station is located on a track in a private estate on the site of a World War II listening station – a location once used by Royal Navy Wrens for listening out for German submarines. It is a mere 5-minute bike ride or 15-minute walk on a private track from the charming seaside town of Southwold with its iconic beach huts, lighthouse and pier. It is also possible to drive this track into Southwold town. With a beautiful, secluded beach on your doorstep, an easy walk or cycle into Southwold, lovely coastal walks and amazing birdlife just outside your windows this really has to be the perfect place to appreciate all that Southwold has to offer whilst giving the peace and seclusion in which to really relax. All Ground floor accommodation: Open-plan living area: Kitchen/dining room With an electric cooker, fridge-freezer, dishwasher and Nespresso coffee machine, table and chairs for four. Sitting room With widescreen Freeview television and Sonos smart speaker. Bedroom one With a king-size bed, sea views and en-suite bathroom containing bath with shower over. Bedroom two With a super-king zip and link bed, sea views and en-suite shower room. Utility room A separate room on end of property, containing washing machine / drying area and store area. Outside: A decked terrace with garden furniture and barbecue. Beach cart with windbreak and picnic chairs. Parking. Children and pets should be supervised at all times. Motorised blinds at the large windows and pull down blinds on the smaller windows and doors.
  • A gorgeous place that successfully combines contemporary and cosy. It is flooded with light in all weathers. The setting is serene when the sun comes out and dramatic in the wintry weather (when we stayed). Fantastically comfortable beds. Well equipped kitchen. The only negative was the outside utility room and having to brave the wind and rain just to fetch a dustpan and brush!

  • A wonderfully bright and spacious bedroom with a fab en-suite attached - both spotlessly clean. The house is brilliantly located, bang opposite the sea and a minutes walk from the town center. Adele is a smashing host, easy to get hold of and quick to reply. Everything from early our check in, on street parking and the fantastic array of complementary drinks and snacks available in the room made for a really fabulous stay. This room is great value for money and we’ll definitely be staying again next time we visit Southwold. We had a memorable time. Thank you Adele!

  • I’ve booked many AirBnB properties, but this was the first time I’d booked a room in someone’s house so wasn’t sure if I’d like it. I needn’t have worried. Like the previous reviewers have said, this was a lovely experience. The room is spacious, comfortable and well equipped -with complimentary extras that you wouldn’t get in a typical B&B or hotel room, like fresh milk, wine, fresh fruit. Plenty of towels, robes and a comfy bed. Adele was very welcoming, friendly and helpful and the location of the house is perfect for the seafront, pier and shops. My first trip to Southwold and I will definitely come back. I can highly recommend staying at Adele’s.

    Mary-Rose2020-01-19T00:00:00Z
  • Adele's room was lovely, it was incredibly clean and had everything you could need and more - kettle, dressing gowns, different teas, snacks, drinks, stamped postcards, shampoo etc. It was perfect location, less than 5 minute walk to the high street. Adele was lovely, very helpful and I will definitely stay there again!

    Connie2020-01-07T00:00:00Z
  • If you are looking for hassle-free, convenient, clean and comfortable accommodation then Adele's is the place for you. The room with en-suite is fully equipped with tea and coffee making facilities, plus complementary fruit, biscuits and other nibbles, milk, bottled water, orange juice and even beer and wine. Another nice touch was the his and hers dressing gowns. We thoroughly recommend Adele's place, but as a cautionary note you may be unable to get close off-street parking and we would advise pre-booking restaurants, especially at busy holiday periods.

Generous welcoming touches - wine, tea, coffee pods and milk etc and very good quality kitchen equipment and beds you could spend days in looking out at uninterrupted views of the sea in peace and tranquility.

  • Had a wonderful weekend in this lovely place with open views of fields and the sea. Spent much time watching the open skies and walking on the beach. Very close to Southwold walking or by bike. Lots of lovely fresh fish and home baked bread available locally. Great welcome from hosts who left wine and crisps on arrival and everything very sparkling and clean with everything you need. I highly recommend the property.

  • The Watch Room makes absolutely the best out of its perfect location with stunning views, convenience for the town in Southwold, and for getting away from it all with great walks up to Benacre and down to Dunwich. The accommodation itself cannot be faulted. Everything you’d need to stay comfortable and cosy ...and ...well ...pretty much hypnotised by the ever changing skies and seas. Had a great time.
