Places to stay in Toller Porcorum
Summer is coming but still snuggle up together on the leather sofa with some Prosecco in front of the log fire Dating from the 1700's, our newly restored "boutique" style stone cottage is in the rural historic Yetminster Conservation Area with a thatched CAMRA pub. The Bothy is in the beautiful garden of our quintessential English Heritage listed thatched cottage You have great access to our lovely Dorset countryside & the Jurassic Coast One fixed price: No minimum stays; No cleaning charges
Bothy Cottage is in a delightful rural location with horses in the adjacent fields, chickens across the road and a dairy farm just up the lane. I am so happy just pottering around our home here. We want you to be warm and cosy during the cooler months (& English summer), so the Bothy is heated with electric radiators (controlled by you) and a wood burning stove. We include electricity, kindling wood, fire lighters and logs for your stay. Help yourself to more logs from the store behind the Bothy, if needed. The kitchen facilities are suitable for modest cooking and include a single induction hob, microwave with grill & oven facilities, small fridge/freezer, electric kettle, toaster, filter coffee jug, etc., plus a washing/drying machine. There are two BBQ's suitable for loose charcoal or plonking a disposable BBQ on top. For walkers, Downs Lane opposite leads to various footpaths and access to the local Vecklands Millennium Wood (Visible from your cottage). The Macmillan Way footpath is 200 yards down Brister End. We can chat about various other places to go using your car. In my view, we are in a cyclist's paradise with loads of lanes and a variety of bridleways (Some very muddy) to suit casual through to the serious on and off road bikers (There is a huge specialist triathlon TriUK superstore in Yeovil). You may lock your bikes in one of our sheds. Once you are off in your car then the Jurassic Coast, the sea, Lulworth Cove, Durdle Door & Lyme Regis are some 40-50 minutes away and then there are the National Trust places, including Montecute House, Stourhead (Fabulous landscape gardens with the Spread Eagle pub for food).
Yetminster is a village with a load of listed buildings dating from the 17th Century, about twelve thatched cottages (The locals could not afford proper tiled roofs) and a Grade 1 listed church (St Andrews). The thatched White Hart pub (Run by Blanche & Alex) has a variety of locally sourced beers and ciders (Local labourers were paid with cider until the 1950's) plus good pub grub. I have cycled to over 100 local pubs so I can give you tips on them.
  • A beautifully cosy space. Russell and Liz have designed the it well to make the most of smallish space. It had everything we needed, the local village was very cute and Russell and Liz were great at giving us space, whilst also being available if we had any questions. It's a beautiful part of the country to visit, and thank you both for a glorious week getaway!

  • This cottage is an absolute treat! Russell and Liz were so helpful and friendly. The air bnb itself is stunning and so cosy - especially when the we had the fire burning in the evening. The location is great, we didn’t have a car but travelled there by train - there’s plenty of big walks or a local taxi service of needed. Perfect 10/10 stay !!

    Molly2020-03-16T00:00:00Z
  • Thank you so much for our stay, shame we weren't staying for longer! It was most definitely cute and cosy and the cottage has a lovely charm about it. We felt very at home and relaxed and were made to feel very welcome upon arrival. Excellent value for the price, we would happily visit again in the future. Thank you again!!

  • What an absolutely stunning little bothy, we couldn’t have been happier with our stay. The decor is amazing and the real wood log burner makes you feel so cozy. We would highly recommend this place to all our friends and family and cannot wait to return in the summer when the garden is in full bloom. The outside BBQ area will also be amazing in better weather. Thank you!

    David2020-03-10T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing place, lovely personal touches and a warm welcome. Highly recommended!

    James2020-03-09T00:00:00Z

  • Beautifully clean, extremely cosy, homely and in an ideal location for lovely local walks. Super easy off road parking and a gorgeous wood burning stove and super fast induction job in case you want to cook for yourselves! Russel and Liz even popped a bottle of prosecco and some milk in the fridge for us! Can’t rate it highly enough.

CORONAVIRUS UPDATE At present we are unable to take bookings. Please check back with us later in the year. The Old Bakery is a completely self-contained, separate, and secluded apartment with its own entrance, located off the street and at the back of our house. Walking distance from Bridport town centre, it is a perfect haven for a relaxing break.
The flat will surprise you with its lovely sense of space. The garden room faces due east and is light and sunny - perfect for a morning yoga practice (mats provided)! It also has a single day bed, sofa, dining table, and satellite TV. There is a small, completely separate bedroom with a comfortable double bed, plus a bathroom (bath and shower) and a spacious, fully equipped open-plan kitchen: electric cooker with extractor hood, microwave, toaster, fridge and radio, plus another small dining table. There isn't a washing machine but if you are staying for a week or longer we can arrange for you to use the one in the main house. There are washing lines in the yard for drying clothes or wet camping gear, and a safe place to put bicycles overnight. We can provide a single mattress to put down on the lounge floor if you want to bring a fourth guest, and we also have a cot bed for very small children. All bed linen and towels are provided. There is a good wifi connection throughout the flat, and a mobile phone signal, but no land-line telephone. The French windows face onto the small garden area/patio, which is still under construction.
Bridport is as very popular holiday destination, being located as it is within the beautiful Jurassic Dorset coastal area. It is possible to walk to West Bay with its scenic harbour and promenade, or to drive to many other nearby places such as Lyme Regis, Charmouth, Weymouth and Dorchester. There is a twice weekly street market, a small and very interesting museum, an arts centre, the Lyric Theatre (especially good for childrens' events) and the Electric Palace cinema (more live events than film these days), together with a lively community of artists and craftspeople. We also have a vintage market on the last Sunday of the month. Bridport is also host to a film festival, the Bridport Prize for literature, a literary festival and a hat festival - in addition to the annual carnival in August!
  • Jude and Will were very nice and catered to all our need. The place was also lovely.

    Britney2020-03-04T00:00:00Z

  • Lovely place to stay..walking distance to town, great hosts..oh and fabulous dogs. Jude and Will are very friendly and generous with their welcome pack. Spacious kitchen and living room with lots of appliances. All you could need. Would recommend staying here if visiting Bridport. Thank you for a lovely few days away!

    Karen2020-02-14T00:00:00Z
  • Will and Jude were great hosts and the accommodation was perfect for two plus a dog. Great location for the town and coast at West Bay and great dog walks in the countryside.

  • That value and flexible, laid back hosts. We have stayed twice now and will be back.

    Sarah2020-01-09T00:00:00Z
  • This is a cosy and attractive one bed ground floor apartment at the rear of a period house just a short step from central Bridport. Pluses - very well equipped kitchen, pleasant neutral decor, you could just walk in and feel at home, lovely and warm (I visted in Januaryl) Minuses - street parking in short supply, access through the garage which when I visited was full of bicycles. So you may need a torch. Hosts are charming, friendly dog.

Rural (but not remote!), edge of village hideaway for 2 only 2K from Yeovil, countryside setting with far reaching rural views. Beautifully furnished, White Company toiletries and welcome goodies, it's a charming little bolthole for a couple or those working in Yeovil. A fully equipped kitchen, living area, shower room and heated indoor pool. Enjoy the patio with the BBQ going, watch the goose potter around, enjoy the views or grab a blanket, snuggle up & enjoy a beautiful starry evening.
Only 10 minutes from the A303 but utterly peaceful, The Little Stable is situated down a quiet country Lane on the edge of the village of picturesque East Coker, only a mile from Yeovil. There are 2 pubs in walking distance and plenty of excellent places to eat nearby and the beautiful Jurassic coast only half an hour away. Please note The Little Stable is not suitable for babies, toddlers or children. It is what it says on the tin so if you’re after something palatial, The Little Stable might not be what you’re looking for!
East Coker is a quintessentially English village, TS Elliot even wrote a poem about it. Full of great walks and cycling, just potter about in the lanes and follow your nose back to the Stable after a drink or two in one of the local pubs or a fantastic cooked breakfast in our village cafe.
  • The stable is absolutely beautiful and really well equipped with everything you need! Fiona and Jason were lively and really welcoming and the pool was such a luxury! Really keen to return!

  • Awsome hosts, Beautiful surroundings, great location and a lovely pool. We will definitely be back.

  • Perfect little home in a stunning location. Certain to come back again!

    Matt2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • It's the perfect place to get away from it all! My daughter and I had a lovely rest in the relaxed and tranquil setting, just what we needed! Fiona and hubby greeted us at various times with a very warm welcome and couldn't be more helpful. During our stay we had the pool to ourselves as the other accommodation (cottage) was empty, that was lovely! Other than a very friendly dog who came and said 'hello' and a goose as a neighbour we had overall privacy, however in the stable manual it did give contact details for the owners if we should need them. Fiona kept in-touch with me from the initial booking with all relevant details for our stay and even left us some bird seed to feed the goose as my daughter is quite mad for them! There were many personal touches in our accommodation and pool house, a lot of thought has gone into making sure you have all you need. The facilities are fantastic I can see why Fiona is a super host much deserved, we will definitely be stay again!

  • A beautiful little retreat in the countryside! Spend the day exploring the beaches and countryside then come back for a lovely relaxing swim and a cosy night in! Absolutely perfect!

Middle Cottage has three bedrooms with a lounge on the ground floor with a breakfast bar. Shower room on the ground floor with another wc upstairs. Basic accommodation generally used for school groups for field trips. No school groups will be at New Barn during your stay. No Kitchen. Set in the middle of 20 acres of our wildflower meadows and woodland, on top of a hill overlooking stunning dorset landscape, yet only 5 mins to Dorchester.
Extremely quite and mellow, with lots of footpaths for country walks, yet the busy seaside town of Weymouth is only 30 mins away or for more serious shopping Bournemouth is around an hour away and Southampton just beyond that.
  • Fantastic place! The animals are amazing - check out the iron age hut. So cool. Highly recommended and great value.

  • Brilliant stay! Matt was a great host, very responsive and welcoming. Exactly as it was advertised and ideal for our stay.

  • Easy to talk to. Very welcomong. Does what it says on the tin!

    Taimoor2020-01-31T00:00:00Z
  • The accommodation and Matt are brilliant, I definitely recommend it for travellers looking for a spot off the road

    Arnaud2019-11-30T00:00:00Z
  • Perfect stopover if you are walking the Frome Valley Way. The Field Centre is a really interesting place - we took a peek around the Iron Age village in the morning before we left. The accommodation is advertised as without kitchen but it does have one with fridge, kettle, sink, toaster and microwave (no hob) - great for rustling up a quick brekky. The local pub is a gem.

    Jon2019-11-10T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing little place in a gorgeous location. Mathew was amazing at welcoming us and letting us visit the farm as well as feed the animals. This was perfect as a stop on the way back from Cornwall but we d definitely recommend over the summer for a longer stay. Great pub close by!

    Celine2019-11-01T00:00:00Z
  • A great place to stay for a large family and ideally located for exploring the Jurassic coast.

    Alan2019-10-29T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed at Matthew's place whilst attending a wedding and it was perfect! The setting was beautiful, the accommodation itself was basic but exactly as described and extremely good value. We really enjoyed meeting the piglets, sheep, goats, and llamas. Matthew gave us a brilliant local recommendation for a pub. We had a great time.

Duntish is a hamlet bordering Buckland Newton, a short walk away. There you will find a shop, post office and play park. Our village pub has recently re-opened and is a great place for a drink or a meal and is approximately a mile away, either by road or a lovely walk across beautiful fields - see their website for more info: www.gaggleofgeese.co.uk Close by are charming pubs in Plush (The Brace of Pheasants), Cerne Abbas (3 options!) and several along the Piddle Valley. Dorchester and Sherborne are both less than 10 miles away with a range of shops, restaurants, museums and other things to see and do. Duntish is situated in a beautiful area with breathtaking scenery, from ridges with long views to beautiful chalk downland with thriving wildlife. A network of footpaths from our door allows you to explore the local area, and the Wessex Ridgeway can be joined approximately 2 miles from Duntish Studio. The Jurassic coast is just over half an hour away and offers a variety of bays and beaches and some lovely swimming spots. Purbeck is not far to the East, and Bridport and Lyme Regis are conveniently accessible to the West. Please ask if you would like any more local info!

Extremely comfy bed, well equipped kitchen.lovely touches...home baked Christmas biscuits, fresh eggs, fresh milk, cereals, jam, marmalade, all beautifully presented...even a touch of Christmas decorations and lights. • Lovely house, beautiful location and friendly, welcoming hosts. Everything we could have asked for!

    Katherine2020-03-17T00:00:00Z
  • Perfect! We’ve just spent 3 days exploring Dorset and this is an idyllic base. Yvonne is a wonderful host, greeting us with fresh bread and eggs from the farm. Unfortunately we couldn’t make the most of the gorgeous garden because of the rain but the house was cosy and comfy. Highly recommended.

    Rachel2020-02-18T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed at Yvonne’s cottage in January as a family of 4. It’s in a great location for exploring Dorset, with Bridport only 10 mins down the road and Lyme Regis 25 mins away. Our two boys 2 & 5, loved the sheep and chickens outside the property and there was a big box of Lego that kept them entertained. Yvonne and Graham were wonderful hosts and offered lots of advice of places to visit. The cottage is lovely and cosy with the wood burner and underfloor heating, but spacious enough for a family too. The breakfast hamper with their own eggs, jam, marmalade, milk and bread was a lovely touch. We can’t wait to stay again soon and are already planning our next trip!

    Emma2020-01-05T00:00:00Z
  • Brilliant place to stay in Dorset. Great amenities. So cosy for a winters break. We really appreciated the breakfast bits. Thank you

  • Lovely cottage in the west part of Dorset! Could not expect a better retreat in the middle of lovely landscape! Thanks for the stay!

    Benoit2019-12-02T00:00:00Z
  • A warm welcome and a super clean home from home. Loved the delicious treats to enjoy for breakfast and all the extra touches like fresh flowers, plenty of logs and lots of local info. Didn't get outside as it was cold and wet but the outside area would be lovely and private on a sunny day.

    Lucy2019-10-31T00:00:00Z
  • The annex is exactly as described- we found it to be very comfortable. It was really clean, a great shower, and all the kitchen equipment you would need to cook meals. There was a pretty garden, and a log burner. Yvonne lives next door in case of any problems, although we didn’t have any. There are supermarkets in Bridport, a ten minute drive away. There are lots of places to visit in Dorset, but you would definitely need a car. The only issue we had was the narrow country lanes - a few times we struggled to get past other cars.

    Cathy2019-10-26T00:00:00Z
  • A lovely and peaceful location with beautiful country views. A well equipped property which was nice and clean. We appreciated the welcome goodies which was much appreciated after our long journey. We would definitely recommend this property to anyone visiting this part of Dorset. Thank you Yvonne!

  • Nice place to have a city break

  • The Annexe is a lovely, quiet place to stay. It is comfortable and cosy despite the terrible weather when we were there. Sally was a thoughtful and warm host. Nothing was too much trouble and her communication was excellent. We even had delicious eggs from the her hens who provided us with much entertainment gambolling around. The pub did a great evening meal and is just a short walk away. Would like to return!

  • Was a lovely stay, Sally and Bob was very welcoming, had a lovely weekend here

    Jodie2019-11-24T00:00:00Z
  • Gorgeous annexe for a last minute weekend away. Ended up staying in both nights as the place was so cosy and chilled, travelled to Weymouth and Abbotsbury during the days (about 25-30mins away). Sally was a helpful host, easy check in and lovely property with a view of the back garden, loved seeing all their pet chickens romming too! Thanks :)

Piglet Cottage nestles in a beautiful country village close to the coast and boast wonderful walks all around it. Bird song includes the Night jar in the springs small hours along with nesting swifts and swallows through the summer. Well behaved dog's are very welcome, with a complimentary Bonio awaiting their arrival along with cake & wine for the humans.
  • We really enjoyed our stay at Piglet cottage, it is in such a beautiful and peaceful area. Plenty of nearby walks. The upstairs balcony was great for sitting out and enjoying the sunshine. Everything we needed for a relaxing break.

    Harriet2019-07-28T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely cottage and great host. Debi left us a cake and local cider for the humans and a bowl blanket and biscuit for our Baylee. We loved our stay in lovely Dorset, Debi left a really useful folder with lots of tips for making the most of they local area. Highly recommended.

  • Nice quiet cottage, good place to relax and get away from the rat race. Comfortable property felt like a real home from home.

    Peter2019-07-01T00:00:00Z
  • The village is so tranquil and the setting of Piglet Cottage is equally calm and peaceful. The cottage is well equipped and very comfortable - especially the beds! We all slept so well - even the dogs. Lovely welcoming touches such as wine and cake for us and bowl, blanket and biscuits for the dogs. We were lucky with the weather and had a few drinks outside on the first floor terrace. Perfect cottage for our re-union and some great dog walks.

    Hilary2019-06-24T00:00:00Z
  • We loved piglet cottage. It felt like a home from home. The cake was a lovely touch and very much appreciated after a long drive in the torrential rain! (We would have loved a drop of milk to make a cuppa to go with it). The cottage is wonderfully decorated and had everything we needed. We used the log burner on our first night and it was great at heating the house. Would definitely recommend and we hope to return!

    Francesca2019-06-09T00:00:00Z
  • Very efficient communication, lovely location away from it all and cosy cottage suitable for young children as well. Great wi-fi and very good tips for the local area, not to mention the cake and wine upon arrival!

    Niccolò2019-06-02T00:00:00Z
  • Piglet Cottage is a charming cottage reached by a stunningly scenic drive. I found the single bed very cozy and enjoyed tea on the terrace in the morning sun. The cake and wine at check-in were a nice touch.

    Kelly2019-12-30T00:00:00Z
  • We had a fantastic stay at Shepherds Cottage. It was cosy, very warm and spotlessly clean. It fitted our needs perfectly and was just the best location for our 3 days away from home - a real home from home! Rosemary’s recommendation of dinner at The Fox and Hounds did not disappoint - the best meal we’ve had for a while. We booked this accommodation based purely on the reviews and we were not disappointed. We will definitely return in the Spring. Ps. Best nights sleep in the most comfortable bed too!!

  • This is a great place for a couple wanting to enjoy a quiet cottage on a farm in a beautiful area. The cottage had everything we needed and was accessible to lots of places via the lovely (narrow) Dorset country lanes. Rosemary was very helpful with information and advice and quick to respond to enquiries.

  • I had a wonderful stay at the cottage, with my two dogs. It's in a truly stunning location with access to the coast and the Dorset footpaths so perfect for outdoor adventurers. Definitely recommend having a car to get around but I welcomed the countryside escape. Thank you!

    Luke & Alla2019-10-20T00:00:00Z
  • This is a delightful cottage in a fantastic setting. As you drive down narrower and narrower lanes and dive deeper and deeper into the Dorset countryside you might wonder what’s at the end of Frogmore Lane. The cottage is set among other buildings but has its own entrance, parking and is set back so you can be as private as you want. It’s nicely decorated and spotlessly clean throughout. And has all the facilities that you need. Comfortable bed, windows that open, plenty of hot water from the shower, big bathroom to splash around in and a well equipped kitchen and more. Wish I’d been able to stay longer. Next time. Enjoy!

    Newly decorated single room.
Quiet village neighbourhood within walking distance of major train station, quick access to Yeovil and Sherborne 1 parking space available.
  • Robbie's place is really great for both long and short stays. It's conveniently close to the train station while being situated in a very quiet and green village. It's not an easy walk to shops so would be handy to think ahead for groceries if you don't have transport, but there is a local pub with a fire and good food. Robbie himself is an easygoing, kind and really straightforward person to communicate with.

  • We stayed over New Years Eve, 4 adults, a two year old and a 5 week old. We found the place to be really clean and very warm. Great facilities and the location is fantastic for exploring the countryside. There are lots of maps and guides left for you in the cottage. The sitting area and couches are great along with the kitchen dining area for group meals. The beds were very comfy and there was plenty of hot water. We’d definitely recommend the place to others to stay.

I have recently brought this cosy little beamed mill cottage (1840) with an open plan front room and new fitted kitchen. It is above the river and overlooks fields and sheep out the back. There are beautiful walks close by. The nearest beach of west Bay is just over 1 mile away.It is 1 of 4 terraced cottages and is a 5 to 10 minute walk from the lovely market town of Bridport. It is a great base to explore the Jurrasic coast line, and if you are a walker you will love the location.
My home is small , comfotable and a little quirky! It is set back slightly from the A35 which is a busy road in the summer, but the back spare room is quiet as it is above the river and overlooks countyside. On the street parking can be found in the road opposite.
Bridport has some great eating places and cafe's. There is alot going on music and arts wise, especially at The Electric Palace, a wonderful art deco building. There is also an arts center and many great pubs. The shops are not all chain stores, which makes it an old fashioned town, with a great market on a Wednesday and Saturday. Lyme Regis is just 15 minutes derive

The house is beautiful, and I had a room with access to the bathroom and her kitchen, which she had ensured was stocked with food and drink should I not have some myself. I had access to radiator controls in my room so I could set temperature to my liking, and she ensured I had extra blankets should I need as well. I couldn't recommend enough.

    Steven ‘Frits’2019-10-18T00:00:00Z
  • We loved the room at Wendy's place. It has big glass doors so you can watch the sunset and enjoy the weather, plus a beautiful patio space that you could relax on in good weather. There is still lots of privacy with the big light-blocking curtains and separate entrance. Coffee and tea-making, and a nice clean bathroom with hot shower. Luxurious carpet. Lots of space. Easy and ample parking. Highly recommend!

    Gina2019-10-14T00:00:00Z
  • As other guests have reported, Wendy’s place was excellent. Safe off road parking at the end of a very quiet cul-de-sac. The room had its own private entrance and a deck to sit out on when the weather is nice, which sadly it wasn’t whilst I was there. For anyone visiting the Dorchester area this is a nice place to stay and I’d happily stay there again when I’m next in the area.

  • Jean’s place is easy to reach with the directions that were provided. It’s a cute village and the kids park near the house is quite an advantage. The house is nicely maintained with all the necessities in place. Jean was quite helpful providing inputs about good places nearby. Most of the key touristy places are less than an hour’s drive away thus making it a very convenient location. All in all we had a nice time at Jean’s place and would like to visit again.

  • Lovely clean accommodation in a lovely, quiet, rural spot. Great views - look out for the deer in the field opposite! Jean and David are wonderful hosts - friendly and helpful. All communication was prompt and friendly.

  • Jean's place is tranquil, spotless clean, comfortable, with a lot to offer: children playground just outside, cosy interior, all essential utensils, nice size bedrooms. Jean herself is a true Supr host! Helpful, so many interesting and nice places to visit to advise. Jean was very attentive to our requests, and patient with us. I would definitely coming back! I can highly recommend! Thank you Jean.

Welcome to The Pond House! Nestled away at the end of the lane, on the cusp of country walks and soothing views, is where you'll find The Pond House. Just a short drive to the famously beautiful World Heritage Site of The Jurassic Coast and situated in Dorset's Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, The Pond House is the perfect base to explore some of Dorset's most loved scenery. Max 2 dogs welcome, but please inform me beforehand. A £10 charge may be added at the end if there is extra cleaning.
The Pond House is located along a country lane that ends in a bridle path. There are no noisy main roads or constant through traffic and pollution to disturb your peace and quiet. You have your own detached space with your own parking and entrance. The bedroom and living area is a large studio space with a lovely old restored Villager woodburner facing the bed, so you can fall asleep to the sound of wood cracking away and the orange glow of cosiness. Huge glass doors and large double glazed windows fill the room with light and the view is into your own private garden with a big pond and seating area. This is a newly converted space that was once an old farm building with vast amounts of concrete. It has had new life breathed into it over the past year and the garden and pond are both new, with native trees and fruit trees planted in the hope that it will be a space enjoyed by visiting guests, wildlife, birds and aquatic creatures as the pond is discovered in the spring. The Pond House is rough around the edges and cosy where it counts. It is not luxury, it's cosy and designed as a space to be used by those who are looking for a quiet, relaxed countryside stay with no TV or WIFI. The Kitchen comes stocked with tea and coffee. There is a toaster, hot water, fridge with freezer, a 2 ring hob and saucepans etc. It's basic but has all you will need to cook simple meals. The bathroom is spacious and bright with a flushing toilet, hot water at the sink and an electric shower over a reclaimed bath. The bath does not function as a bath, only as a place to shower. There is an electric towel rail and towels are provided. Please be aware that the wood burner is the only heating in The Pond House. There is no central or electric heating - please be aware of this before you arrive so you are not disappointed. In winter the fire will be lit before you arrive so it will be nice and toasty and you can just relax. Matches and firelighters are provided. The first load of wood is included, if you require more you can purchase another load for £10 or purchase a bag of wood at the garden centre in Bridport. Please only burn wood, the Villager is NOT a multi-fuel burner and burning coal or other fuels may damage it.
We are a 10-15 minute drive from the seaside. West Bay is your closest beach, and it has plenty of places to eat, lots of fish and chip stalls and an old harbour full of boats. Drive west along the coast road and you'll find Golden Cap, the highest cliff on the Jurassic Coast, and Lyme Regis, the fossil capital of the UK and home to some wonderful restaurants. Lewesdon Hill, Dorset's highest hill, is just 5 minutes away by car. Once an Iron Age Hill Fort, it is covered in ancient beech and oak trees and filled with bluebells every spring. We highly recommend a visit and the views at the top will not disappoint. You have some of the best country walks straight from The Pond House. The Brit Valley Way will take you all the way to West Bay and the footpaths around Netherbury offer some gentle and some more challenging walks. For all your foodie needs look no further than Washingpool Farm Shop (which you may recognise from Broadchurch) where you will find the very best local produce to cook up a taste of country life. Bridport and Beaminster both have great restaurants and pubs and Bridport also has an antiques and food market every Wednesday and Saturday. There are many supermarkets too, takeaways and quiet corners to fill your spirits. We are very lucky to be a short walk from the Award Winning Furleigh Wine Estate. Pre-book for a tour of their vineyards and a tasting session of their fabulous British white wines. The Hare & Hounds pub is a 10-15 minute walk along the footpaths and does great beer and food. It's dog friendly and has a large garden.
  • Perfect vibe with beautiful aesthetics for a country getaway. Great farmshop, idilic coastal walks and quirky local pubs close by. Very helpful host!

    Natasha2020-03-06T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great time at The Pond House. Carys has done a lovely job of creating a cosy, rustic hideaway in a lovely spot up on the hill with amazing views over the countryside.

Pumpkin View is a lovely quiet loft with its own entrance and private garden which is part of a detached building in the grounds of our home. It sits within the beautiful Frome Valley, and on the Frome Valley Trail which is perfect for walking and cycling. Frome Vauchurch is a tiny hamlet 1/2 a mile from the village of Maiden Newton. The studio has been tastefully decorated and furnished to provide a cosy and comfy base for anyone visiting the area, and looking for a peaceful rural retreat.
Pumpkin View offers a private door and entrance hall with chair, shoe rack, welly boot holder (spare wellies available if you forget yours!), and coat rack. Stairs lead up to the studio, where you will find a well equipped, cosy area with reclining leather sofa, large TV, comfy double bed, and separate bathroom with shower, sink and loo. A microwave, small fridge and toaster are available for guests to use, and tea, coffee and milk are supplied. The space is lovely and warm, with plenty of light streaming through the windows. Guest parking is right outside the entrance door to Pumpkin View, and bicycles can be stored in the entrance hall. Included in the price is a light breakfast of bread, butter, jam & marmalade, a selection of cereals, and milk. Please let us know if you have any other requirements.
Frome vauchurch is a small hamlet with only a handful of houses, and a 12th century church. The Frome Valley Trail runs right past the door! The busy village of Maiden Newton lies 1/2 a mile away, and boasts a train station, newsagent, corner grocery shop, hardware shop, and a petrol station with Spar. There is a dog friendly pub in the village, “The Chalk and Cheese”, just a few minutes walk away, and lots of other lovely places to eat within the local area.
  • Jane was a thoughtful and kindhost and our stay was lovely and peaceful and we had all we needed, thank you.

    Kate2020-02-21T00:00:00Z
  • Such a comfortable stay. Bed really comfy. Shower bigger than it looks. Four legged friends catered for beautifully. Excellent WiFi. Walks are spectacular and plenty available without taking the car. No light pollution so star gazing is incredible. Local shop with opening times until 9pm that stocks anything you might need in one direction of the village and petrol station with a spar in the opposite direction. I will definitely be returning 😄

  • A great little find. We were looking for somewhere to stay whilst visiting my sister and her newborn. Janes communication from the beginning was great and the place was in a perfect location for us, nice and quiet but close to amenities, shop, pub, transport. Inside it was a perfect size for us, nice and clean and cosy and warm. Jane met us on arrival and was very helpful when we got a little bit lost on our way. She showed us round and gave us a couple of tips on where to eat and drink in the village. Easy check in and check out and we’ll certainly be back in the new year and will be recommending to other family and friends going to visit

    Jess2019-11-10T00:00:00Z
  • Staying at Pumpkin View with my dog was wonderful! Jane went above & beyond for us. She is a fantastic host! The place was very clean and incredibly comfortable. A brilliant place to have some peace & just relax. The local area is lovely and peaceful with easy access to so many other wonderful places. A great place to stay if you’re using public transport as well. I would highly recommend Jane & Pumpkin View as a wonderful place to stay.

    Jennifer2019-11-08T00:00:00Z
  • Jane is an amazing host, with a lovely guest flat that’s perfect for a getaway as a couple with (or without) dogs. The area is beautiful, very dog-friendly and, all-in-all, it’s a great place to recharge your batteries!

  • My second time staying at Pumpkin View this year, but with my Granddaughter this time. The perfect stay for us, easy for getting to the coast east, south and west, to explore. The loft is cosy and warm with everything we needed for our stay. Jane and Nicky are great host's warm and friendly. Great to see Robbie and the gang again. This is one of those places I shall keep coming back to.

Tastefully decorated, the Old Barn is the perfect place to relax and explore the Jurassic Coast and surrounding areas. Nestled in a sleepy valley the cottage is 20min drive from Bridport and the beach. It is the ideal place for walks without the use of your car and reading by the wood burner. In summer the small farm is a beautiful place to picnic. The two bedrooms are en suite with baths. I am happy to receive grocery deliveries earlier on the day of your arrival and unpack and put away.
The two single beds can zip together to make a comfortable kingsize bed, giving you two double rooms.
There are views of open farmland and plenty of walks along lanes, woods and riverside from the front door. Next door is the Kingcombe Centre with a cafe in the summer months. Google for any interesting courses you might like to join. Restaurants and pubs in the area include Watch House Café in West Bay, Hive Beach Cafe at Burton Bradstock Beach, Ollerod in Beaminster, River Cottage Canteen in Axminster. I also love The Anchor in Seatown and locally, The Fox and Hounds at Cattistock.
  • Great place to stay! From start to finish Mandie is a gracious and thoughtful host. From a courtesy bottle of wine, to offering to book us in to the local pub for dinner. The accommodation is a cosy home from home with everything you will need to enjoy your stay, along with great tips on the local area. Thoroughly recommended!

    Angela2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • My husband, dog and I had an absolutely lovely stay! The barn was perfect for us and incredibly warm and cosy. The extra touches of wine, milk, and the log burner burning away for us when we arrived just made us feel all the more welcome and at home. Mandie’s invaluable advice on the best places to go was so helpful in utilising our short time away so much more effectively. It truly was ‘home-from-home’. Looking forward to our return visit.

    Lucy2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • A hidden gem of a place that was the perfect retreat for us and our dog. Wonderfully quaint in a beautiful location with some stunning local walks nearby. Perfect for getting away from the hustle and bustle although the more tourist areas (like the Jurassic Coast) are easily accessible about 45 mins away. The barn was exceptionally spacious and the log fire didn't disappoint. Mandie was extremely charming and was well organised having left a book and notes with lots of useful tips of places to go. The small added touches like the wine and hot water bottles made for a really welcoming stay. We would love to stay again! Thank you Monica and Clive x

    Monica2020-01-02T00:00:00Z
  • Mandie’s cottage is remote and beautiful - the perfect place for a relaxing getaway amidst the rolling hills and valleys of Dorset. She went out of her way to make our stay comfortable and relaxing, giving us helpful local advice on walks and restaurants. The wood burning stove in the sitting room gave us a roaring fire that kept us warm all weekend - definitely a highlight! Would recommend and stay again.

    Alexandra2019-12-23T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful stay at Mandie’s place! The place was very peaceful and cosy and had everything we needed (plus super comfy beds which was a big plus!). Lots to do near by and interesting things to explore on the farm for our children. Loved it!

  • Fantastic private space ..beautifully converted barn ..wood stove kept us very warm ..great kitchen ..very comfortable bed with our own bathrooms ..plenty of hot water ..we had everything we needed .....perfect in every way

    Belinda2019-11-25T00:00:00Z
  • Mandie is a conscientious, friendly and helpful host who made us feel really at home. Although nothing was too much trouble during our short visit, she also gave us privacy to relax and enjoy her beautiful home. Just like the other reviews mention, the house is spectacular- a perfect countryside retreat with a trio of gorgeous ‘sturdy’ Westies. The kitchen is really well equipped and the beds are comfy with good quality sheets and bed linen. We loved our weekend- thank you Mandie!

    Emma2019-11-03T00:00:00Z
  • A beautiful and clean cottage in a wonderful part of the world. Lovely local walks, and a cosy space to sit by the fire. Cottage has everything you can expect and Mandie is very helpful has a host.

This is a semi- detached sunny cottage with a large garden. It is at the end of a quiet village, surrounded by peaceful Dorset countryside. It is only 30 minutes drive from the stunning Jurassic coast. There are beautiful walks to be had straight from the house if you dont feel like driving. The cottage sits midway between Bridport, with its famous Saturday market and the historic town of Dorchester. If you just want peace and quiet its a comfortable retreat to relax in.
This househas a bright roomy feel to it. The windows on either side of the house bring in lots of natural light. There are no buildings obstructing views of the countryside. The garden is alive with birds and butterflies in the summer. The view from the top garden across the fields at the back is especially relaxing on a warm summer evening. There is a wood burning stove in the sitting room which quickly warms the whole house and makes the sitting room cosy in the evenings. The heating is turned off at the end of April and the wood burner comes into its own. We do not turn the heating on again until the end of September so if the wood burner is not keeping you warm enough please get in contact with me. The logs are stored by the back door and kiddling and firelighters can be found in the log basket. The kitchen has everything you might need for cooking but no microwave. The boot room, attached to the house, has an extra toilet. The utility room with washing machine , dryer and fridge freezer is in the annex. The keys to the utility room and boot room will be hanging in the kitchen.
The village is surrounded by fields owned by local farmers, English Heritage and Dorset Wildlife Trust and there is a working farm in the village. The village post office is open in the mornings and is the hub of the village. There is an abundance of bird life all around and its not unusual to see deer and hear owls. There is a playground near the community hall at the other end of the village. Throughout the year there are events at the village hall and the Toller Fair takes place in August. The village church is usually open and has monthly services. Powerstock Common, a conservation area is a walkable distance from the house or you can get there by car. The Kingcome Centre (Centrehttps://www.kingcombe.org) is in the next village. Hook Woods which is nearby is filled with bluebells in Spring. We are also close to Eggardon Hill, an ancient Saxon hill fort which is a wonderful place to walk and has spectacular views to the sea on a clear day.
  • A really lovely, spacious and cozy cottage in a beautiful part of the world. We had a great stay with our 3 kids (6,2, 9 weeks old). Definately reccomend!

    Callum2020-02-18T00:00:00Z
  • Such a beautiful country cottage. The kitchen had everything we needed and the refreshment provisions were above and beyond. We didn’t realise we were staying over valentines and Carina had organised fresh flowers and chocolates! What a treat! The log burner is a such appreciated feature on a cold night. Was so cosy! The beds are soft and comfortable and the bedding of high quality. The bathroom and kitchen were both bright and clean with everything having a clear place and purpose. Our boys (aged 4 & 2) enjoyed the few toys available along with their own. We used the DVD player and brought our own board games but we’re happily surprised to see such a collection of DVDs and games available in the cottage. Would highly recommend!!

  • Lovely place to stay in country setting.

    Vicki2020-01-04T00:00:00Z
  • Quaint, very well equipped cottage with everything you could need for self catering. Bigger than it seems in the pictures. Backing onto fields with beautiful views with some friendly cows. It was stormy when we stayed so were able to take advantage of the fire. Sad to have missed the opportunity to sit in the swing seat under the trees in the sun. Close enough to Dorchester for shops and the coast for days out.

    Cindy2019-11-03T00:00:00Z
  • We spent three nights here. It’s a great location to explore Dorset. The weather wasn’t great so we did not enjoy it very much but the garden in summer would be fantastic. The house has everything you need to cook , bedrooms are clean and so comfortable. Living rooom has nice fireplace which we used . Would recommend and comeback

    Ines2019-10-27T00:00:00Z
  • We've just had a brilliant few days at Frog Cottage but could have stayed much longer. The cottage is clean, comfortable and full of lovely things to look at. Carina has thought of everything you might need, like excellent local tips and marked O/S maps. We loved the views, peace and quiet, pretty garden and cosy nights in by the fire. Our kids loved their huge bedroom, and the well stocked games cupboard. Toller Porcorum is a sweet little village, in a good spot for exploring Dorset. We went to Abbotsbury swannery and gardens, Bridport, Burton Bradstock, Kingcombe nature reserve, Hardy's House and Weymouth harbour. Don't miss Eggardon Hill Fort. We went on a clear afternoon and enjoyed the most fantastic views. Highly recommended!

  • Frog cottage was a really wonderful base for our time in Dorset. The house is spacious and welcoming, the kitchen really well set up for self-catering, and the location and outlook beautiful. Our family of four, with two small children, enjoyed it immensely. Thank you Carina, so memorable!

One room on top floor with ensuite, in the heart of Bridport. Comfortable super king size bed with en-suite (toilet & bath).
Our space is quite quirky with lots of paintings on the walls. It's a very old cottage so creaky floorboards and flagstone floors. We renovated it a few years ago - there are a few skirting boards that still need painting!
Seconds walk from great pubs and cafes & range of shops, in the heart of Bridport.
  • Angie and Pete were very welcoming. The room was comfortable and clean. Tea, fresh milk, plates and cutlery in the room were a nice touch. Nice en-suite. Very good location in centre of town yet room - being at the back - was quiet.

Great quirky attic space in a beautiful home packed to the rafters with art, warmth and love. Great tips about the town. Really laid back. Thoughtful coolbag of teas, coffees, milk and biscuits - just what I needed after a long journey.

The ground floor is a spacious open plan area with a sofa and sofa bed which can accommodate an additional two guests. There is an oak dining table with four leather chairs and fully equipped kitchen with oven, hob, fridge/freezer, dish washer and all the utensils you will need. For those cold winter nights we have provided a wood burning stove. The first floor bedroom is spacious with a luxurious oak Super-king-size bed and dressing table. Next to the bedroom is a modern fully tiled shower room with powerful shower. For entertainment the cottage is equipped with the latest 40" 3D smart T.V. with internet access, there are also books and games for the traditionalists.
We are on the edge of Maiden Newton only five minutes walk from a friendly local pub, French restaurant, village stores and railway station. There are beautiful country walks on our doorstep and the stunning Jurassic coast world heritage site is just a short drive.
  • Beautifully presented Cottage. Very well equipped and a super comfy bed. We ate in, as stayed during the Coronavirus isolation period, but the kitchen was very well equipped and it was a joy to cook and socialise in the open plan living area. Mark left details of several local walks, which we enjoyed with our dogs, and also headed out to Weymouth and Lyme Regis beaches. If you have doubts about travelling during this virus period, we would strongly recommend you continue with your plans. The cottage was very clean and we did everything we wanted to do without close contact with other people. What better place to isolate yourselves.... We highly recommend.

Lovely touch with the doggo toys and treats, Koji loved snuggling up on the mat in front of the fire. Hot tub was beautiful and area is so peaceful. Lots of good walks nearby. My house is in a quiet road in Maiden Newton which is a friendly village in the Frome valley. In the village there is a garage, Spar, village stores, fish and chip shop, newsagents, coffee shop, GP practice, railway station, small restuarant and a pub. The village links with many cycle and walking routes and is popular with people who enjoy getting out and about in the countryside. You can take the train to Dorchester or Weymouth or easily drive to West Bay and Bridport.
My home is an end of terrace with views over hills at the back and a valley in the front. I have decorated my home in calming colours and comfortable furnishings. On the ground floor I have my art studio, kitchen/diner, lounge and conservatory. The gardens are mature and in the back garden has a summer house which is available to use in good weather. Upstairs there is a bathroom with a shower over the bath, an office, my room and the guest bedroom which is decorated and styled to be comfortable and stylish.
The village is surrounded by farmland, it is central to many attractions including the beach at West Bay which was featured in the popular tv series Broadchurch. Bridport is a 15/20 minute drive and is the home of street markets and a thriving artists quarter. Dorchester is also a 15/20 minute drive and has museums and places of interest. Dorchester and Weymouth can be reached by train from Maiden Newton station which is 5 mins walk from my house
  • Carol was a great host, she responded to my questions in no time and accommodated my needs at very short notice. Lovely room and house. Would stay there again.

Superb two-bedroom stone cottage with panoramic views, situated on the outskirts of Stoford on the Somerset/Dorset border. Surrounded by countryside, the cottage makes a perfect getaway and great location from which to explore the south-west. Ideal for couples, single explorers, families and businessmen/women alike. RAIL LINKS: South West Trains London Waterloo/Exeter Line - comfortable 10 minute walk through the village to Yeovil Junction. ROAD LINKS: 2 miles south of Yeovil, just off A37.
LITTLE BOOTS is a snug two-bedroom stone cottage finished to an extremely high standard throughout. Our cottage is very near the village green on the outskirts of Stoford; a small rural village on the Somerset/Dorset border. The historic Abbey town of Sherborne is within easy reach by rail or road and the market town of Yeovil is only 1.5 miles away with regular bus services. The County town of Dorchester and seaside resorts of Weymouth, Lyme Regis, West Bay, Burton Brackstock are also within easy reach. Little Boots has a relaxing lounge with dining table, newly fitted kitchen and bathroom with a shower. There are two bedrooms; one with a double bed and one with a queen size bed which we find very cosy. The GARDEN enables guests to dine alfresco (weather permitting) and the stunning views enhance the experience. A brook runs alongside the cottage and there is usually a pony in the adjacent field, so please expect occasional countryside smells! A WELCOME PACK is provided comprising: tea, coffee, milk, croissants, jam, butter, cereal, yoghurt and bread for self-service. Fair trade and locally sourced goods. RAIL LINKS: South West Trains London Waterloo/Exeter Line - comfortable 10 minute walk passing the village green (Yeovil Junction). ROAD LINKS: 2 miles south of Yeovil, just off A37. We are ideally located to visit the JURASSIC COAST and the many other attractions in the South-West. The extensive range of leaflets at the cottage for guests to refer will hopefully enhance your stay. (Please feel free to add to our library). Regrettably Little Boots has steps leading to the front door and also limited space within the cottage to comfortably support a wheelchair user.

It is very comfortable, warm, quiet and has everything you need plus in a good location to Yeovil or Sherborne, and not far from lots of good pubs. Amanda is a great host, replies quickly to questions and supplies further information when needed. We will be back!

Your stay will be in a private modern home. The en-suite room being on the 1st floor, large and dual aspect - so spacious and bright, with own shower room and King size bed. Good free Wifi. Smart TV with Netflix. Continental breakfast provided in room. Plenty of parking. We are situated on the northern side amongst the Allington Hills. Feels very rural but is only a 10 minute walk to the centre of Bridport. Westbay and the Jurrassic World Heritage coastline is 5 minute drive.
A large double bedroom and en-suite bathroom with power shower. A big family bathroom with a huge bath is situated next to guest room but with all children now grown and gone it is rarely used ! Also in the room is a small fridge containing fresh milk, yogurts and orange juice. We also provide cereals and muffins - so you may have breakfast at your leisure. There is desk space for a lap top or similar.
We are located minutes from Bridport. A peaceful private drive, but at the same time within very easy access to the town centre. With beautiful views over Allington, Coneygar and Colmers Hill and surrounding countryside.
  • Anya is a great host and has thought of everything to make your stay in Bridport a comfortable one. Fabulously clean and convenient. Highly recommended

  • Hubby and I were really happy with Anya's en-suite guest room in Bridport. We decided on a last min overnight stay, and were super impressed with the amazing space especially considering the cost! The location was great - quiet yet an easy walk into town, and it was a bonus to get parking right outside. You even get tea/coffee/juice and breakfast included! Would absolutely recommend, and would love to go back one day! Thank you for the wonderful hospitality.

  • We had a wonderful stay. Anya was really welcoming and we felt like we stayed in a hotel. Bathroom and bedroom were so clean and room was good value. Anya's house is away from main roads so we slept so well. And appreciated thoughtful touches such as the light breakfast, tv in room and toiletries in shower. We recommend staying here. Thank you for a lovely last minute stay.
