[Opening March 2025] Traveling with children is hard...! Have you ever thought that? As hosts, we also have a 3-year-old and a 1-year-old, so we really understand that feeling. Even when I go on a trip myself "Will they damage the interior of the room?" "Will they run around the inn and bother the other guests?" I worry about that. "But I want to give my children an experience in nature...!" We created this inn with the concept of a "child-friendly inn" where you can stay with peace of mind even when traveling with small children. Takashima City, Shiga Prefecture, where the inn is located, is a place rich in nature. In recent years, the area has been attracting young people who are looking for good access to Kyoto and Osaka and a rich natural environment. There are plenty of spots to enjoy nature throughout the four seasons, such as Lake Biwa's play spots, Makino Pickland, an agricultural experience park, and Makino Kogen Ski Resort, all within a 5-10 minute drive from the inn! In the inn, we have furnished the rooms with equipment based on the standard of "being able to stay with peace of mind" for those of us who are raising children. We hope that you can relax a little at our inn during your busy days when you can't take your eyes off your children.

This is a private lodging [Kokoro]. This is a private house limited to one group per day, where you can experience the rich nature of Shiga prefecture and enjoy rural life. It is a nice, calm space that can accommodate up to 10 people. Please relax with your family and friends. It is about 1 hour by car from downtown Kyoto, and if you come by train, it is about 20 minutes by bus from JR Kosei Line Azumigawa Station, or about 10 minutes by taxi. It is popular with overseas customers, families, and groups. A BBQ set is also available for rent. We also rent BBQ equipment for a fee, so please let us know. Free parking is available on the premises. Parking is available for up to 3 regular vehicles. For large vehicles, it may be difficult to park 3, so please inquire in advance. If you contact us in advance, we can rent it for a fee. There are also plenty of outdoor facilities in the surrounding area, so please use it as a base for your activities. Haruya Guesthouse

Our guesthouse is in a beautiful mountain village, near to it are pristine forests with beech trees and an ancient mountain path that was used to carry sea products from Japan sea to Kyoto in old days. In front of the guesthouse runs a stream that is a source of Lake Biwa and its water is crystal clear ; in early summer nights many fireflies fly over the stream. In winter, we have a lot of snow ; sometimes it reaches 2 meters from the ground! On clear nights you can enjoy the sky full of stars.

I am an Artist / Photographer born in Kyoto I started hosting because I love meeting people from all over the world and making new friends. This place used to be one big guesthouse, but during Covid19, I have stopped running the guesthouse and I moved in with my wife and 2 kids. Still I didn't want to give up so I left the good parts. Private cypress bath and renovated rooms and made another entrance for the Guests. So now it is 2 separate house Please check the house rules before you book.

To ensure you enjoy the stay to the fullest, I set check-in and check-out time to both 12:00 Noon. So you can stay up for 24 hours with one night booking. YAMANOTE HOUSE is accessible from major Kansai stations with 37min from Kyoto Sta. or 65min from Osaka Sta. If you come by car from Kyoto it takes less than 1 hour. The area aournd the house is once small castle town. The house is located next to the Shrine, Hiyoshi-Jinja, where the Omizo Festival is held on May 3 and 4 every year.
