Head out on Angles Way and follow the Waveney river valley for an idyllic countryside stroll or take a trip to the beautiful Suffolk coast, then light the fire and curl up under the beams. Featured in a host of magazines, this bucolic abode combines period features and chic, contemporary design.
Ivywood cottage is medieval in age, but contemporary in design, with luxurious finishes and fine detailing. The house is in a unique rural setting and was once part of the Gawdy Hall Estate. The house sits next to a beautiful 15th century church, set within a 3 acre church yard. Glorious and plentiful Waveney Valley walks in all directions.
The cottage is a short picturesque drive from the coastal gems of Southwold and Aldeburgh. Harleston and Bungay are quintessential English towns with charming independent stores, delis, family butchers, bistro cafes, pubs, restaurants, and tea shops.
  • Great hosts in a fantastic cottage, would definitely recommend!

  • This cottage was beautiful. Laura and James have made an effort to artfully design the space tastefully. There were amazing details and industrial features that worked beautifully with the heritage cottage. The bedding and linens were out of this world! Everything I need for a weekend away. The cottage is perfectly placed for exploring the surrounding county’s. Have already recommended to friends!

  • Ivywood cottage is a beautiful and special place to stay. It’s cosy and elegant at the same time, and the building itself is full of history and character. Laura was a very friendly host, and all arrangements were easy to sort out. I highly recommend staying at Ivywood cottage.

  • We fell in love with the cottage as soon as we walked through the front door. It's been beautifully restored, full of character and style but also filled with all the special touches that make it unique. Our stay was one of peace and relaxation, we spent lazy evenings in front of the log burner, soaking in the gorgeous bath and exploring the local area, with plenty of cake along the way. I really can't recommend the cottage highly enough, it was perfect from start to end. A huge thanks to James and Laura for sharing their home and giving us the child free escape we needed. Kelwen2019-10-20T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely and warm. The kitchen is perfect for lots of people cooking and eating and the sitting room large and quite comfortable especially when the wood burning stove is lit. Our toddler loved exploring, inside and out. Just make sure you plan your sleeping arrangements beforehand because although it can sleep up to 12 there are only 4 bedrooms. Well recommended.

If you like sloping brick floors, comfy sofas, exposed beams, wood burners, light, space and original features then you will like the Dairy. An annexe to a Tudor farmhouse it was converted in 2013 and is now a spacious 2 bedroom, 1 bathroom holiday home with a double height open plan living space on the ground floor. Children and dogs are very welcome. Egyptian cotton sheets, fresh towels and wifi provided (it's a pretty good connection - as much as you can guarantee these things - but do check with us first if you want to download films etc). There's a basket of logs for the fire and books and dvds; refreshments too so you can start to relax as soon as you arrive. Everything you might need to know about the Dairy is in the welcome manual and have a look at the airbnb guide which gives tips about shopping and local sightseeing activities too. If you prefer the human touch we are just next door and happy to help and to share what we know about the local area with you. In the middle of rural Suffolk we are: 20 minutes away from Diss, which has direct trains to London (90mins). 15 minutes away from Framlingham. A pretty market town (market on Tuesday and Saturday) with a lovely castle 25 minutes away from the coast: pebble beaches, sandy beaches, nature reserves, bustling seaside towns of Southwold with its pier, cafes and beach huts and Aldeburgh (40 mins drive away) with fresh fish and summer festivals. 25 minutes from Thetford forest. Bressingham steam museum, mid Suffolk light steam railway, the Owl and Camel sanctuary and Easton Farm Park are all in easy reach for family fun. As for getting around there are buses but we are in the country so you can go anywhere but it'll be a week before the bus returns! If you bring bikes we have an outbuilding that you can store them in and there is a reliable taxi service. We have a local store, a butcher and baker in the village a library, gym, swimming pool and tennis courts too - all within 5 minutes walk of the dairy. The village has 3 pubs, with two of them serving food as well. To make the most of your stay we recommend a car but if you are after a short getaway there is lots to do in a short walking distance of the Dairy and taxis at Diss railway station. KitchenFacilities: Dishwasher, Coffeemaker, Microwave, Fridge, Toaster, Double Oven, Hob,Grill. Washing machine and outside sink (for washing dogs or wellies) in next door outbuilding. Entertainment: LCD TV - Freeview with integrated DVD Player, Books, Games and DVDs, retro radio and Ipod dock. Courtyard garden: table and four chairs and a bench too. • Wow ... myself and my boyfriend stayed at The Dairy for our 3 year anniversary. We wanted to have a cosy weekend for too out and away from busy London - nestled in the countryside ... and this cottage fit that brief perfectly! From checking in to checking out our stay was wonderful and the hosts were very attentive. We loved sitting by the log burner with a cup of tea and biscuits wrapped in a warm blanket. The wooden beams, fairy lights and soft furnishings created the perfect atmosphere to relax. We definitely would love to come back for another stay in the future! X

  • Stunning property! Cosy and perfect for a weekend away

    Rebecca2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • A charming, quiet and cosy spot, full of character - even lovelier than it looks in the photos - on the edge of a little village. We spent two nights at the Diary and would’ve loved to have stayed longer. Really clean and well-equipped for self-catering, comfortable beds, plenty of DVDs, books and games, and some thoughtful welcome treats. Kate was there to meet us and gave us tips on the local pubs, bakery and butchers. The log burner was an added bonus and was stacked and ready to light. Can’t recommend this place enough.

    Gabrielle2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • A delightful short stay was had at The Dairy. Its incredibly cosy and well located to explore the local area.

    Sorcha2020-02-20T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful, cosy and all round ideal country escape. Kate and her husband were so friendly and went out of their way to help make our stay special. The dairy is so historic and has such a great feel, largely due to the Moroccan and rustic furnishings, as well as the beams and amazing wood burner. Really well located to explore the suffolk coast, we hope to return as soon as we can!

    Isabel2020-02-18T00:00:00Z
  • The dairy is the perfect place to go away for some relaxation. The village is lovely and location to loads of great places is fantastic. The dairy is stylish and comfortable and there was plenty of room for four of us! Thanks again Kate will return.

    Sam2020-02-15T00:00:00Z
  • I stayed at the Dairy with my girlfriend for two nights and we loved it. The Dairy was rustic but very clean and well furnished, with all the facilities you’d need for a short stay. The log burner was a great bonus in February. Stradbroke is a lovely village with a nice local bakery, village shop and pubs. It is easy to get to from the A140 and has great access to other villages and their own little shops and pubs. We visited the Swan in Hoxne, the Old Kings Head in Brockdish and the Ivy House in Stradbroke itself and had a great time at each.

    Daniel2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • Had a wonderful couple of nights for our wedding. Had a wonderful nights sleep infront of the wood burner with the fairy lights above us.

*** COVID-19 UPDATE 17th March *** Our housekeepers are taking extra care with cleaning and additional disinfecting of surfaces at the house. If you have any questions feel free to drop us a line. Wainford Mill House is a stunning, spacious riverside house, which is part of a large former maltings/watermill building just outside Bungay. You'll have access to riverside gardens, a boat, wood-fired pizza oven and, for small extra charge, a wood-fired sauna by the river! Sleeps 12+2 people.
The house comprises six large bedrooms, arranged across two floors. Five are doubles or king size, and one room is a bunk room set out with 2 + 2 single beds. Three bedrooms have en suites, and a separate shower room and WC is available on the first floor for the other rooms. Roll-top baths and high pressure showers are supplied with plenty of hot water by our our wood pellet boiler, which also powers central heating throughout. At the back of the house and overlooking the river you will find a large well-equipped kitchen including range Smeg cooker, fridge, toaster, kettle and washing machine. The large river-fronted garden at the back of the house is accessed over a small footbridge and is private and south-facing. For an extra charge of £50 per session, you will have private use of the Secret Sauna - a secluded wood-fired sauna, perched just over the water’s edge overlooking the River Waveney. The sauna can accommodate five people at a time, and is on an adjacent plot of land, a moment’s walk from the house. You will be provided with towels, robes and flip flops. A bit of history...the first record of a flour mill at Wainford was in 1444, but by the 1800s the site was being used for malting of barley (for beer). Part of the working buildings were converted into a large house around 1850. Today the malting business continues at Wainford, with a modern facility 200m along the lane and a large white grain storage silo directly opposite Wainford Mill House to the north (you can see this in some of the pictures, it is now disused).
The Waveney valley is a gentle, rural kind of place, where you can amble through pretty market towns, or walk along country lanes and across marshes. The high street of Bungay and its ruined castle amongst other attractions is around 15 minutes walk. Going a bit further afield, the pretty towns of Beccles and Halesworth are around 10-15 minutes drive. It's about half an hour's drive to the seaside (Southwold, Dunwich and Walberswick), and about 25 minutes to the lovely city of Norwich.
  • Great location and house - great for groups

    Collette2020-03-15T00:00:00Z
  • The house is vast - we all got lost in its many rooms and bathrooms! Everything very clean and comfortable. It was great for our big family get together. The sauna over the road is amazing and was the perfect way to spend a cold, rainy afternoon!

    Lucy2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • The house is beautiful, with large rooms and a very well stocked kitchen (one of the best we've stayed in, great if you want to cook!) We loved trying out the pizza oven too. It was cold outside but the fireplace and heating made sure it was warm inside, so it worked well for our winter break. Really good spot for a group of friends.

    Miriam2020-02-24T00:00:00Z
  • We really enjoyed our time here. We hope to be able to visit in another season as well so as to sample use of the river! The house is huge, plenty big enough for a few families and Bungay is well located for exploring Norfolk or Suffolk. We loved using the pizza oven as well - great tasting pizzas. Toby was very responsive to our questions - a great host!

    Ian2020-01-16T00:00:00Z

  • Fantastic property with beautiful surroundings that are perfect for any time of the year. Clean throughout and with all the kitchen amenities you could need. Enjoyed using the pizza oven and collecting eggs from the very friendly chickens for breakfast. We used this to celebrate Christmas but all said how amazing it would be in the summer as well. Toby the Host was very good making sure we had settled in ok and also prior to our stay.

    Paula2019-12-23T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing place. So many bedrooms and bathrooms that we got lost in the house. Incredible setting , even on a dull November weekend. Children loved collecting and eating the eggs! We loved the sauna . Toby was an outstanding host . Thanks for an amazing weekend. We sure will come back to row the boats and make a pizza in the outdoor oven

  • A quiet, quaint and very peaceful cottage. Hot tub, sauna, kitchen, bedrooms, bathroom and lounge area all great. Very clean and as they look in the photos.

  • Lovely stay for a little mid week getaway with friends! Very clean, peaceful and comfy beds!

    Georgia2020-02-06T00:00:00Z
  • The cottage is as quirky, old and interesting as the photos show. Perfect country retreat, just what we wanted for a winter weekend. Hot tub and sauna are great, but definitely recommend the on site hot stones and massage, what a fabulous extra to relax and unwind. Highly recommend and hope to go back very soon. John, the host is great in terms of communication and answering any questions quickly and efficiently. Thank you John, for recommending the White Horse Inn, great food and a discount card is a lovely bonus! We went for a girls weekend, though perfect for couples or family chill out time. I will be back...think of the film 'Holiday' and you will hope for snow when stay!

This self-contained apartment, including kitchenette, is spacious and light, with a peaceful & relaxing atmosphere. It is referred to by many guests as their “country retreat” – the perfect holiday location when you want to get away from it all or a have a short break in the countryside. Hillside Studio is in a central position in Starston, an idyllic, welcoming Norfolk village. There are a wide range of circular walks on the doorstep. There is secure bicycle storage if you arrive by bike.
The property is at the rear of Hillside, a 1650’s rennovated grade II listed house. Car parking is on the block paved courtyard next to the modern studio entrance. East views from the studio are towards the adjacent grade I medieval parish church. Looking south the view is across an established garden, which slopes down the hill to a shaded pond and seating area. There are French doors from both the bedroom and sitting room leading into the garden. There is a patio on the church side of the studio with comfortable outdoor seating, for the exclusive use of studio guests. The property has wifi access, internet enabled TVs in both the living space and bedroom, radio (via the TV speakers) and a DVD player in the sitting room. A hob, microwave & fridge enable you to make your own drinks and light meals. A collection of board games, DVDs and novels are available. There is a folder with extensive information on local walks and places of interest.
A 2-minute walk brings you to the Glebe, a beautiful, community owned, riverside meadow and orchard. It is enclosed so is suitable for letting dogs off the lead but the riverside is not fenced. There is an extensive range of footpaths in the parish, with many circular walks starting from the adjacent church.

  • Ann is a wonderful host, warm, friendly and super helpful. She fills Hillside studio with touches of real hospitality from homemade cakes to fresh eggs from her chickens. We enjoyed the peaceful rural retreat in its village setting but it's just a 20 minute walk or short drive into nearby Harleston for coffee, antiques and a pub lunch. Norfolk countryside retreat at it's best.

Our amazing hut features a cosy double bed, gorgeous ensuite shower with loo and basin, a fully equipped kitchen with hobs, microwave and fridge, a sofa, flatscreen tv, dedicated WiFi, electric fire and a brand new 5 berth hot tub. Handmade shepherd hut – great for a peaceful getaway. Ideal for a couple but can easily sleep two small children. We can also provide a z-bed on request.

An introduction to bee keeping is available on request. Wood Lane is a peaceful open area of South Norfolk, yet only five minutes from the small market town of Harleston, thirty from Norwich city centre and fifty minutes to Southwold beach. Built around 1870 The Stables at Hempnall House is a luxurious two bedroom property surrounded by gardens, woods and fields yet only 20 minutes drive from central Norwich, the capital of East Anglia with a wide variety of amenities, shops and entertainment. Converted in 2018 The Stables has two bedrooms, a bathroom and separate shower room. High quality fittings have been used throughout whilst the original beams and stable doors lend a touch of authentic charm
Either the terrace, overlooking our private wood, or the sofa in front of the wood burner (unlimited logs are included), are the perfect places to relax and take in the view. The kitchen is equipped with a gas hob, small oven and microwave, fridge and a full sized dishwasher. There is an abundance of cutlery, crockery and cooking utensils. Why not invite your friends to dinner, the dining table seats six (or eight)! Our chickens provide a point of interest and sometimes even eggs. Children are encouraged to see if there are any. There is a gas barbecue available for your use. Hosts Kate and Colin live on site but you'll be the only people in the stables. They enjoy meeting guests and sharing their country home and grounds. We have parking for two cars outside The Stables, and adequate broadband. Secure cycle storage is available
A bridle path leads directly from the property to Hempnall, about a mile away, where there is a butcher and delicatessen, a well stocked shop, newsagent and post office (open, amazingly from 6am to 9pm seven days a week) and a petrol station. An artisan baker offers a selection of loaves every Saturday, ask for details. There is a popular community bar in the Old Mill which opens every Friday and Saturday evening. The Three Horseshoes public house, ten minutes walk away, is well known for its Sunday lunchtime carvery. The local Indian restaurant delivers, minimum spend £20

We had a 2 night stay, including delicious meals at the Netherton Steak House and The Fleece Inn, Bungay. We enjoyed antique shopping in Norwich city centre during the day on Saturday and enjoyed the fire at night. A great retreat for two couples or friends.

  • We spent two weeks at Appletree cottage, absolutely lovely cottage, we loved the open plan layout, great location for visiting the Norfolk and Suffolk coast, we were well locked after by Jo and her husband, we had a slight problem with the fire alarm battery which started bleeping phone call to Jo was sorted within in minutes. Thanks for everything. Regards Dave & Sue and Robbie our dog

  • The cottage has been very tastefully decorated to an extremely high standard and yet is dog friendly which is a massive bonus. It feels very secluded as the main house is behind and it has a lovely little front garden. Although there is a small camping field nearby, it’s very low key and there was no-one there whilst we were there in August. It’s about 20 mins walk across the fields to the village. We ate at The Star which was good quality standard pub food and dog friendly. Highly recommend this place.

  • Lovely, peaceful stay in this cottage which is stylish and modern inside yet has a cosy, cottage feel. On a farm and secluded. No passing traffic! We had great weather and so it was as if we were abroad. 50 mins drives to some great places like Southwold and Norwich, but also just round the corner from the Camel Park. We loved our stay.

This charming single storey stable conversion sits in an idyllic spot on the Suffolk/Norfolk border; a great location for exploring the beautiful countryside and picturesque coast. The accommodation’s incredibly spacious for four, both inside and out, with two generous sized bedrooms, a lofty open plan living space designed for relaxing with friends and family at any time of the year, and a big enclosed garden where children and pets can enjoy some freedom, surrounded by private land.
Guests are welcomed into a long hallway stretching along the front of this detached property, with the shower room, both bedrooms and the light and airy living space opening off it. Named after the many resident doves whose symbol is peace, Dovecotes sits down a tree-lined drive taking you away from the road to an enclosed garden with outside dining furniture. There’s ample parking and, at the rear, two double doors open onto a graveled area with a bistro style table and chairs, where you can sit and hear the doves cooing.
Metfield (derived from Meadow Field) is a sleepy village on the Suffolk Norfolk border, with an excellent community shop selling luxury treats, budget essentials, local beers and wines, artisan breads, gifts and lots more! There are a couple of pubs to choose from with the Fox and Goose in Fressingfield (circa four miles) serving excellent local food, ales and wine; Sir Alfred Munnings at Mendham, approx three miles away and a local bar at the Metfield Village Hall on Friday and Saturday evenings. This self-catering holiday home is just over half an hours drive from the bustling coastal town of Southwold and beautiful beach of Covehithe. The towns of Halesworth, Diss and Harleston are closer; the latter being a vibrant market town filled with historic buildings and an impressive array of independent shops, chemist, delicatessen and several coffee shops. Those who enjoy messing about on the river can head up to the Norfolk Broads and hire a boat for the day. Guests are welcomed into a long hallway stretching along the front of this detached property, with the shower room, both bedrooms and the light and airy living space opening off it. Named after the many resident doves whose symbol is peace, Dovecotes sits down a tree-lined drive taking you away from the road to an enclosed garden with outside dining set. • This is a very spacious 2 bed place to stay. Nice and airy, has all the bits and pieces you need. We didn’t end up taking our dogs but is ideal if you intend to visit with your dog(s). We would definitely use this accommodation again.

A grade 2 listed house in small market town ideally situated for exploring Norfolk/Suffolk. The lovely broads and coastal towns such as Southwold are easily accessed and the vibrant city of Norwich is 18 miles away. Harleston has an active community and has many small independent shops as well as a supermarket and bus transport to Beccles, Bungay, Diss, Norwich and the coast. My home is next door to a delightful cafe which opens from 10 to 3pm and serves lunchtime meals.
In the Conservation area of Harleston, the house is over 400 years old retaining many original features but completely up to date for the 21st century. There are stairs up to the bedroom and en suite with a door which keeps it private.
Harleston is a town with many listed buildings, mine being one of them. It is thriving and a very friendly place. 'Harleston Future' is a good link if you would like to see the many activities that occur. We have regular excellent Amateur and Youth performances held at the secondary school. The is a leisure centre and in the school there is a swimming pool which the public can use at certain times and an excellent recreation ground which hosts many of the town 'get together' activities on bank holidays. We have the option of several restaurants and hotels that serve food. Regular informative walks are available that some of our knowledgable residents run giving the history and unique qualities of the yards and ancient coach inns in the town. We have several fishing and/or sailing lakes close by and many lovely walks some close to the River Waveney.
  • The sweetest host i've ever met. Very clean place and had such a lovely time during the whole stay.

  • Great location and great host.

  • This stay was amazing. Sheila was very welcoming and we had a lovely chat as we checked in. She was very attentive to our needs and gave us special dietary requested items which I thought was very sweet of her. There was a lot of small lovely touches to the room that made the whole experience very rememberable. She gave us lots of recommendations as where to eat and go for coffee and there was also different maps and tour guide options on the side table as we went in. She was one of the loveliest people I’ve met and would 100% recommend staying at this charming accommodation.

    Yasmin2019-09-29T00:00:00Z
  • Sheila's home is just what you want after a day's activity in Norfolk. The room and ensuite are full of lovely little touches, most important the bed is large and comfy and a fantastic spacious ensuite. Great views out onto the garden. The location can't be bettered. Sheila, herself, is very friendly and relaxed, very approachable and nothing is too much bother. hope all goes well for the future cause I very much plan on revisiting.

    Margaret2019-09-15T00:00:00Z
  • Again perfect place, thank you!!

    Alex2019-07-06T00:00:00Z
  • If you are visiting Suffolk and you need a place to stay while you look around Harleston is a great option and Sheila's house is the best place. A house full of history and a host with full of good stories to listen to. A wonderful garden were you will always find the company because it serves almost as a B&B for birds. They love to come by and if you stay long enough you will start to recognize them. The location of the house could not be better, being very close to one of the FREE car parks in Harleston and in the center of the town you will be near everything. There are plenty of hidden corners for you to explore and the host will be very happy to point you the the right direction if you are looking for something. The breakfast is at your choice on a self service style but she will provide you with everything you need and will give special attention to your personal taste, you have a fridge in the room if you want a cold drink at night and you also have kettle and toaster. The bathroom is great with bathtub or shower, very modern with good ventilation and and clear colours that made me feel like I was in a different place. A great experience with a great host, no doubt.

    Alex2019-06-27T00:00:00Z
  • For me, I don't think I could have had a better experience of accomodation than Sheila's place. It's a lovely and spacious medieval cottage right in the centre of a beautiful small market town. It has a lovely courtyard garden with both sun and shade, even a pond with a frog. I used the room as a base to explore on foot the local town, and to drive through Norfolk and Suffolk to explore the area by car. There's great coffee and meals right next door and interesting shops. Next time I'm in the region, I'll be happy to stay here again. Sheila is very helpful with whatever is needed, good company and respectful of privacy. It often felt like I had the house to myself. I can't recommend it enough.

    Paul2018-08-14T00:00:00Z
  • Enchanting, comfortable and peaceful accommodation with views to the pretty garden and a lovely big comfy bed. Sheila is a delightful, welcoming, thoughtful, helpful and kind host. We found Harleston to be a very pleasing and friendly town with plenty of places to eat and drink and good parking. Not far from the A143 it makes a great base for exploring the area. In short we had a wonderful break and didn't want to leave!

  • Quick responses. Check in was hassle free. The accommodation was fantastic and very clean. Surrounded by beautiful gardens. Breakfast was provided and ready for us when we woke up. The Nespresso machine, Weber BBQ and wood burning stove are a great touch! We only wish we could have stayed longer! We’ll be back with the kids!

  • Perfect for a mini break, in the countryside away from everything. Made full use of the log burner and BBQ available (shop for food prior to arriving unless eating out). Walks in the fields nearby and not too long a drive from the coast. Very warm, welcoming and helpful hosts. Would definitely recommend this Jack and Lucy’s space to others and would love to return at some point.

    Tom2019-05-31T00:00:00Z
  • Such a beautiful Airbnb! My friend and I spent a lovely couple of days at Jack and Lucy's beautiful converted barn and it is JUST as lovely in real life. You are surrounded by peaceful fields & pretty views. The converted barn is so cosy, perfect for us & even though it was May, the weather was still rather cold so the warm heaters were definitely much appreciated. Jack is an incredible host, always quick to respond to any queries plus gave us some great advice and tips on places to go. On our last night we took advantage of the lovely log fire which Jack kindly lit for us (thank you for also letting us use your microwave to reheat our leftovers!) The fairly lights come on in the evening giving a lovely atmosphere. Would definitely recommend this delightful little hideaway & would love to return again sometime! Thanks again Jack and Lucy!

The accommodation is a 2 bedroom first floor flat with kitchen, cosy living area, and bathroom. Sleeps 5, but can take 6. Excellent broadband. It was the hayloft above an old carriage house, with stables either side of a courtyard. Guests use our front door, with a private door off the hall leading to the accommodation. A peaceful setting in pretty village, with a pub, a short drive to Diss. We live on the ground floor. Large garden, good parking.
The entire first floor of our house. A door off the hall leads to the staircase. There is a spacious landing, off which are 2 bedrooms, an open plan kitchen/ living room area, and a bathroom with spa bath and shower. The living room area has a large HD TV, with freeview channels, sofa, and armchairs. There is a recently installed kitchen with cooker, fridge, microwave, toaster and kettle. with plenty of utensils, pots, pans and crockery/cutlery. Guests can also use our washing machine, tumble dryer, on request.
Gissing is a small village about 5 miles from the market town of Diss. There is no shop in Gissing, nor the immediate surrounding villages, but we have a lively traditional village pub ( a 5 minute stroll away) which serves typical pub food (booking is advisable) as well as real ales. In the next village, Burston, (2 miles) is a gastro pub, slightly more expensive, but the food is lovely. It also has a nice garden. Again, we would advise booking. There are various other good pubs in the surrounding villages. Diss has a variety of pubs, cafes and restaurants, and a selection of takeaways which will deliver. There is a folder in the living room with details and menus. The nearest shops/supermarkets are in Diss and Long Stratton, about 10 minutes away by car. Diss is famous for the Mere, a lake in the middle of the town with an adjacent park. There are numerous attractions further afield, from Snetterton motor racing track, Banham Zoo, Center Parcs, Newmarket, Southwold, Aldeburgh and the coast, the Norfolk Broads, and of course the historic cities of Norwich and Bury St Edmunds. It is an ideal area for walking and cycling.
  • Lovely host, very friendly and open. Great spacious, quiet comfy room. Immediately felt comfortable on arrival.

  • I just want to let you know that I needed accommodation for the month of January, and found David and Judith's place on Airbnb, which was close to my work. They were so welcoming and accommodating throughout my stay, in every way! I would recommend the Hayloft to anyone with no doubts that you will be back to stay! I hope to be back next year too! • David and Judith's place was absolutely first class. We had access and our own privacy to the whole upstairs with kitchen and a very nice living room. We also had a choice of two bedrooms to stay in as well. There were board games available, homemade loaf of bread and many other kind touches that really made this place such a pleasure to stay at. My girlfriend and I cannot recommend this place highly enough! We'd give more stars if it was possible :)

    Rhys2020-01-01T00:00:00Z
  • Great hospitality from friendly, flexible hosts. We were delayed and arrived late in the evening but David kindly greeted us and showed us around. This is a great place for families and my kids enjoyed the imaginative decor in their rooms and nice touches throughout! If you have any reservations about this space being above David and Judith’s home you needn’t worry - once there you will not notice. This is a nice place in a quiet location - we would happily stay there again.

  • A lovely little family space with great facilities. David and Judith have a lovely, friendly cat and dog which our two year old loved. • We had a very peaceful week exploring the area with detailed maps for dog walking supplied by the hosts. Super clean, great location, enclosed private garden, beautiful cottage with every amenity you could possibly need. David was easy to contact and very quick to respond. A lovely welcome with gifts for both us and our dog. Would definitely recommend to family & friends. Thank you so much for perfect week.😊🐾

  • We had a great stay at David's cottage. The cottage was super clean, comfortable, and well furnished, conveniently located near a pub and dog walking area. We hugely appreciated the drinks and food that David left for us as we had had 6 hour car journey with a 5 months old baby and didn't fancy a trip to the shops for getting dinner. David has been very quick to reply to all messages and was very helpful in allowing us to have a slightly earlier check in on the day of arrival. Would certainly recommend David's cottage for anyone visiting the area.

We welcome well behaved dogs, as does our local pub. The garden has a gate so can keep all but the smallest dogs contained too.
You get two double bedrooms downstairs, a double futon upstairs in the attic conversation, and an additional double room outside in a small cosy cabin. We also have several camp beds you are welcome to use in common spaces. There are lots of books and plants throughout the house, comfortable chairs to read and tables to eat at, The kitchen is well equipped with pots and pans, crockery and utensils - even tea, coffee, lots of herbal teas and herbs and spices. It's a real home from home with plenty of character.
Lovely Norfolk village with a great pub, lots of open countryside and good walks. Near the market town of Wymondham and only 10 miles from the ancient cathedral city of Norwich.
  • Thank you so much for letting us use your gorgeous cottage. It was very clean, and actually much bigger than we expected. We loved the garden too. Lots of privacy and it had a homely feel. There was also plenty sleeping room - beds, a cabin, and camp beds. We would definitely come again.

  • A clean and stylish property. Wonderful amenities; the heated swimming pool was a favourite. You'll not regret staying here.

  • The cottage was an absolute delight! Such a lovely place to stay, beautiful grounds, wonderful amenities, amazing hosts and a great location. Would highly recommend to anyone and we will certainly be returning again.

  • Marilyn and Richard were perfect hosts. From start to finish we had an absolutely fantastic stay. The accommodation had plenty of room for 6; one double and another double with room for 2 children. The common sauces were open and comfy and we were provided with all the mod cons. Access to the pool was planned and advised with ease and nothing was too much trouble. We enjoyed it immensely and would definitely stay again.

  • What an amazing stay! From start to finish Marilyn and Richard went above and beyond to ensure our stay was perfect. So many thoughtful touches too, blown away by the hospitality. We (a family of 5) absolutely loved Redenhall Cottage, and the swimming pool was wonderful too! Can not recommend highly enough, thank you so much both for a perfect weekend 😊 we’ll be back! X

  • Marilyn and Richard were super hosts. They really went the extra mile! We loved staying in the cottage. Would thoroughly recommend for a weekend away!

  • Marilyn and Richard are the perfect hosts for a great property. From the small touches (like croissants on arrival and homemade cheesecake), to providing cots, mosses baskets and changing mats needed for our newborn baby, their hospitality made our stay a delightful experience. The property itself was very clean and well equipped with nice comfy sofa's and a big TV for chilling out, all the mod-cons for cooking/dining and a super comfortable big bed for a good nights sleep. Not to mention the brilliant heated swimming pool! It was perfect for taking our baby for its first dip in a pool and lovely and warm on a cold autumn day. The property is situated in a lovely part of the world. The towns of Beccles and Bungay are well worth a visit for independent eateries, shops and pubs. Further away (45mins) Southwold is a must visit for coast lovers. We only stayed for 2 nights but wish we could have stayed for longer. Thanks again both.

  • Great accommodation, lovely and quiet, really relaxing thoughtful touches from the hosts, we had a relaxing stay and used the pool which was lovely. Great location to visit this part of Norfolk and Suffolk. Thank you again for a wonderful stay and hope to visit again in the future.

  • A beautiful cottage in an idyllic setting. The warmest of welcomes from the owners with thoughtful little extras. We stayed with our two daughters who were delighted with the outdoor space to room free and a very cosy pool to splash around in. 5 stars in every aspect. We will be booking again for sure!

There are country walks directly from the gate, and a private garden overlooking open countryside where you can watch the sunset and enjoy a BBQ.

Wymondham is under 10 miles, and the small coastal town of Southwold and the Suffolk Coast and Heaths Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, 30 miles.
  • We had an amazing stay at the cottage this weekend. Highly recommended if you want a quite family getaway with amazing views from the rooms. Would love go back and to enjoy a summer break soon!!

  • This place is super cute with amazing views out of the window. We slept with the curtains open one night, waking up to the view of the fields. Absolute best way to wake up, no street lights just clean and clear :-) x

  • Lovely cottage, very private. Gorgeous views. Lovely waking up in the morning to see the cows plodding past the cottage. Fully equipped kitchen. Tea, coffee, milk and biscuits left. 2 mile walk to the pub the Fox and hounds at Great Moulton, the food was very good. It’s definitely a place we’d like to come back to.

  • Sarah’s place is lovely. Floor to ceiling glass all along one wall makes it gorgeously bright, but it also feels warm and cosy with nice decor, a couple of sofas and good heating. We enjoyed the nice spacious dimensions inside up to the roof and beams. Our baby son was very happy in the space as well. Sarah was very welcoming, but you also very much have your own space and privacy which was great.

    Sebastian2019-11-03T00:00:00Z
  • The place was wonderful and immaculate. Amazing view to wake up to!

    Ben2019-10-06T00:00:00Z
  • A really cosy little place, tucked away in unspoilt countryside. Garden Cottage is cosy, spotlessly clean, and with its large windows, offers a beautiful view over the Norfolk countryside. It is beautifully appointed. The bed and sofas are comfortable and there is everything you need such as a washing machine and dishwasher. The garden is small but very pretty. Sarah was very efficient and replied to any query promptly. The milk and biscuits on arrival were a nice touch too. I would highly recommend the Garden Cottage for a few days away from the hustle and bustle.

    Catherine2019-09-22T00:00:00Z
  • Sarah’s place was incredibly peaceful. We had a very relaxing couple of days looking out over the fields. A perfect place to decompress

    Tom2019-09-18T00:00:00Z
  • Sarah’s cottage is a wonderful cosy haven away from all noise & distractions. It’s got everything a couple might need, or family with a little child, to properly chill out. It is clean, well appointed, with comfy beds & sofas. Nicely decorated & furnished yet homely with books, games, tea milk & biscuits, we felt we were properly on a secret escape holiday. Amazing views, it really offers value for money. Sarah is quick with communication, full of details and suggestions, so we could easily plan our stay even when we arrived much later than expected & needed urgent advice on where to get dinner! Despite getting there in the dark, Sarah’s instructions meant we had no problems finding the rural location or accessing the property. We found Sarah to be very friendly, she respected privacy whilst also making herself available to help. We will ask to book again, and will probably also consider Sarah’s other larger accommodation on site for a bigger family stay in future.

Part of a converted barn, situated down a country lane in a rural location. A cosy and comfortable cottage on a working farm. The barn has a spacious open plan living area with oak flooring, a wood burner and large comfortable sofas. Sleeps 4 in a King with an unusual mezzanine bedroom with a balcony overlooking the living room and this room leads through to a Twin room. Well-appointed kitchen with dishwasher, microwave, oven and washing machine. Downstairs shower room with heated towel rail.
The Barn is beautifully furnished and presented and our guests love the homely but spacious feel inside. It’s a home away from home with a log burner and comfy sofas to relax and unwind. Children love to see the horses and farm animals and we are happy to show you around. At certain times of the year we have some young calves, piglets and maybe even chicks that they can see.
We are located on the Norfolk/Suffolk border in a rural location. From here it’s approx 45 min drive to Southwold on the Suffolk coast or Great Yarmouth on the Norfolk Coast or alternatively a similar distance up to the Norfolk Broads. There are also plenty of wildlife and farm parks to visit locally or simply explore the area on foot or by bike. We always have some tourist brochures available in the cottage if you need some ideas of places to visit during your stay.
  • A lovely experience, cosy and clean

    Hannah2020-02-20T00:00:00Z
  • We had an amazing holiday here over New Year. The Barn is gorgeous and spotlessly clean with everything you could possibly need and more. Cath and Andy were lovely and always happy to show the kids the farm animals and give us advice about the local area. We can’t wait to go back. The Hudsons xx

  • Had a fantastic 3 night stay with my wife and 2 year old daughter. It was very clean, modern and spacious. Also really well equipped. Very peaceful and a good central location to visit the surrounding areas. I will definitely be recommending to others.

  • Very nice place to stay. Loads of space. Cosy. Everything you need. Wood burner. Lovely host. Will stay again when next visiting family in Norfolk. Diss Tandoori delivers and is really good. Great farm shop nearby which does a great breakfast. Walks in the woods. Wonderful country runs.

  • We loved our stay at Oakleigh Cottage. We stayed with three young children and they loved the surroundings especially seeing the cows from their beds! The hosts were so kind leaving Brownie treats and milk. Great base for exploring. It has everything we could possibly need and felt right at home. We hope to go back again.

  • Wonderful little place right in the farm. Great facilities, wifi was good, no phone signal. Great in the country experience, dark starry nights, super quiet apart from the cow's wakeup calls! Everything locally for supplies was good and easy access to major roads and routes.

Open plan studio. Contemporary feel with mezzanine sleeping area. Good WIFI connection.
Open plan with a contemporary decor. Toilet & shower are downstairs. Mezzanine bedroom. Sofa-bed downstairs.
We are in the lovely village of Bressingham which has its own local shop less than 5 mins walk away. They sell newspapers and homemade produce. Bressingham Steam Museum & Gardens is a short walk on a footpath across the fields. Diss is a short drive or 20 min walk where there a 3 supermarkets, local shops, cafes and restaurants. There is also a swimming pool, Art Centre, Golf Course, Auction Rooms. Banham Zoo is a short drive as is Norwich and Bury St Edmunds and you can reach the coast within 40 minutes drive. Diss is a main-line train station. Given our rural location a car is necessary.
