  • If you want a place to relax, feel cosey but in a luxurious well maintained property look no further, you will no doubt love the indoor heated pool that’s all yours! With a stylish mini pad above that my teenage son found amazing, the log fire in the cottage kept us all warm and happy with large glass of wine in hand just chilling out, it was a great holiday and sad it wasn’t longer, but we will definitely book again!

  • We had a fantastic time at this beautiful and quaint cottage (with the added benefit of the pool house and hot tub). Couldn't fault the place at all, it exceeded our expectations. My five-year-old niece loved the pool, and we had a job of getting her to get out when it was time for bed! The house has fantastic amenities, and the added special treats from the host were well received and appreciated (wine for the adults and treats for the children). The cottage does feel like it is in the middle of nowhere, but this was ideal for our family weekend away. The two neighbouring cottages were friendly too. The cottage is ideally placed for going on long or short walks in the surrounding countryside. Plenty of farm animals to be seen! We took our own provisions, as the nearest shop is roughly a 20-minute drive away, but the cottage does have some existing provisions (tea, coffee, sugar etc). The towels and robes were greatly appreciated too. The house is well decorated, with some quirky accents (teapots) and really add to the farmhouse/cottage vibes. There are plenty of board games and quizzes to keep you busy on wet days, as well as the games room at the back of the property. The toy/ play area is also brilliant for children, again my five-year old-niece loved it. We would definitely stay again given the chance. Well worth the money!

  • We stayed at David's place for a long weekend to celebrate a birthday with family. The place is fantastic, facilities are on point, would highly recommend. David is ane excellent host, rapid replies, gives you all the information you need way in advance. Highly recommended!

  • Great house with loads to do and the pub down the road served brilliant food

    Thomas2020-02-26T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful family break at David’s cottage. Despite the horrendous weather, we had a fantastic time as there was so much to do. There are lots of beautiful walks accessible from outside of the front door and great amenities to enjoy at the cottage when we got back or if we just wanted to relax. We have a 10 year old who really enjoyed the pool and we all made very good use of the hot tub. There were lots of games, books and DVDs provided (which we didn’t actually need as the tv didn’t go on once). You really couldn’t ask for more to do here. Any issues we had (mainly due to the weather) were sorted out extremely quickly and David replied to messages within minutes. The only problem was that we wish we had longer! We will definitely be back!

  • Great relaxing stay. The pool was amazing.

    Carol2020-02-20T00:00:00Z
  • The property was just as described and was all we hoped for and more. There was 5 adults and 2 children aged 8 and 10 we all had an amazing time making great use of the pool and hot tub. The cottage was very spacious and had a lovely home from home feel with log fire and farm house kitchen. The children were kept occupied with all the toys and games, while the adults appreciated the complimentary wine and biscuits. Being being to walk to the local pub for a delicious sunday lunch was an added bonus. Would definitely recommend and hope to return.

  • We had a really nice time, the accommodation was as advertised, clean, and comfortable. The fire / heater gave it a really nice touch in the dark winter nights, and Settle is also a lovely place to stay and take in the views, or venture out for a walk. The nearby Gordale Scar is just a short drive away and is well worth a visit!

    Tom2019-12-27T00:00:00Z
  • The barn conversion is well done, really cosy, stylishly decorated and well equipped for preparing meals. A great place to stay whatever the time of year, has a lovely small outside area which would be great in warm weather. Yorkshire is a beautiful county and the people are so friendly. Settle has a couple of pubs and nice bars, choice of pub food, recently opened tapas place and an amazing Indian to eat in or takeaway. We parked in the town, generally it's difficult to park in Settle as it was never meant for cars. That's not a criticism it's just so people know. Definitely would recommend.

  • Great stay. Perfect spot for 3 peaks. Thanks for having us.

  • Great place to stay. Versatile, pleasant surrounding. Ideal for visiting Settle or embarking on the 3 peaks challenge!

    Andrew2019-08-11T00:00:00Z
  • In a picturesque spot near the top of the village of Settle. Amazing views from the balcony. Space nicely laid out to allow my family of 6 to spread out. You have to sort out street parking on some narrow streets or park down below in town if desired, but we never found it to be difficult.

    Sheref2019-08-09T00:00:00Z
  • Great space! We stayed here as a couple, and it still felt nice and cosy even though it sleeps up to 7. The balcony is a lovely spot to enjoy your morning coffee, and the views are incredible. The parking space was a little tight, but we soon got used to it. I imagine it would be difficult with a bigger car though. The town is a very short walk down a steep hill, and has some lovely little cafes, pubs and antique shops to visit. We loved the decor of this place, and the bed was very comfy! We’ll definitely be back to stay again some time!

  • The Nook is an excellent base from which to explore Settle and beyond! The space is clean and comfortable, as well as being well equipped. The log burner was a bonus for keeping warm on an evening.

    Michael2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • This cottage is beautiful, in a great central location. Finding parking nearby was not an issue, as the roads are narrow and steep. We spent 3 nights here, it was very cold. But the cottage is so cosy with the log burner on. We would definitely return to the nook.

    Lisa2020-03-05T00:00:00Z
  • We had a lovely 3 nights in the cottage. It is a good size for a couple, and nice and comfortable. The wood burner gets it warm nice and quickly too. It is on a very narrow street as in the description, but parking was never a problem. Settle was a perfect base for exploring the Dales too.

Our home is a converted barn with huge exposed oak beams and three guest bedrooms in Hawkswick - a small, hidden gem in the heart of the Yorkshire Dales National Park. Listen to the river and owls at night, then in the morning take the footpath over the fell to Kettlewell.
The converted barn (semi-detached - the farmhouse beside it is not ours!) is our home where we live and we are delighted to share it with our guests - we have 3 spare bedrooms. Our village has stunning scenery and a lack of tourists. Perfect for walking and cycling and a great base for exploring the unique, unspoiled countryside of the dales or the cultural and historic wealth of Yorkshire.
Its beauty, peacefulness, tranquillity, wildlife, river and walks.
  • Stunning location and beautiful accommodation, with clean and comfy rooms, lovely hosts, and delicious breakfasts, including home-made bread and jams! Would DEFINITELY come here again

  • Amazing hosts, Jonathan and Sonia were very welcoming and accommodating. The property was v clean and comfortable. The little touches, such as afternoon tea on return from our long walk in the country, and the lovely breakfast the next day made it all the more special. Thank you again Jonathan and Sonia!

  • This is a perfect place for a getaway if you're looking to relax and unwind in the country. Great location, with fantastic scenery and local walks. The home is spacious inside and very clean, and in general is just lovely and cosy and just want you want to come back to after a long walk on a winter day! Breakfast was great with plenty on offer, more than enough to set you up for a long day out in the countryside! It can be a bit tricky to find in the evening as the area isn't very well lit, so do take care if you're travelling at that time. But overall I had a great stay and Jonathan & Sonia are lovely people, very welcoming and couldn't do enough for me. I would thoroughly recommend their place if you're planning on staying in the Yorkshire Dales.

  • From the moment we booked, Lawrence kept us informed, and was quick to reply to any questions or concerns. Lawrence welcomed us upon our arrival, and gave a quick guided tour of the accommodation, which is absolutely brilliant for the money. Lovely touches with the welcome pack, containing snacks, milk, breakfast cereals, and prosecco. The cafe, which Lawrence and his lovely wife, Gill, run below, serves great breakfasts, and their carrot cake was devine! It's everything you need for a nice break in god's own county. We were a small family, 2 adults, 1 teenager, and a dog, and we had enough room to spread about. I would not hesitate to stay here again. The buck Inn, is literally steps away, and the Lister arms and beck hall ( secret garden), not much further. We weren't blessed with great weather, but still managed a few short walks. Malham cove is stunning, and only a mile away. Thank you Lawrence and Gill!

Our newly converted cottage is located 50 yards from the centre of Settle which has a excellent range of restaurants, pubs and shops. The location, although central, is only yards from the National Park with stunning walks from the front door. Registry Cottage has 1 double bedroom, 1 twin bedroom, a fully equipped kitchen and a modern bathroom. The lounge/kitchen is on the first floor, which makes the most of the great views. There is also a relaxed seated mezzanine area. We are dog friendly.
The large upstairs space is vaulted with very tall windows bringing in masses of light. Above the kitchen there is a mezzanine area with two large armchairs and table with games, great for kids to do their own thing or adults to relax. The bedrooms are both very cosy and comfortable, the master bedroom has a comfortable chair for reading. The cottage (converted from the towns registry office) with all it's interesting features has been a real labour of love and we are extremely proud of it. N. B. During this difficult period we have altered our cleaning regime to pay extra attention (using disinfectant and steam cleaners) to areas that are touched regularly, such as doorknobs, drawer pulls, the toilet flush lever, faucet handles, remote controls, light switches, seating areas, etc. We have also supplied the cottage with plenty of tissue, disposable paper towels and hand soap. If there are any additional safeguards you require please don't hesitate to contact us.
  • Super space extremely well located in the middle of Settle. 50 metres from Talbot pub that does good filling dinners useful after a days walking. The flat has a feeling of space and is well equipped. Would go again if we can find the time.

The cottage is really well designed and comfortable and Bruce was a great host , he had very kindly switched the heating on and left milk and biscuits so I could make a brew when I arrived . Very much appreciated after a challenging drive up in the rain ! The cottage is ideally situated within the village and for exploring the wonderful countryside in the area . Will definitely be back !

  • We had to cancel at the last minute due to ill health, Bruce responded really quickly to our enquires and was very helpful. We were very disappointed not to be able to stay in upside down in Settle.

  • Gear place to stay, comfortable, cosy warm, quiet yet central to the lovely town. I would recommend this place for sure and hope to return a little later in the year. Thank you

Own private room in hosts home. A traditional cottage in West Witton in the stunning Yorkshire Dales National Park. Beautiful walking, close to Middleham gallops and Forbidden Corner. Award winning Wensleydale Heifer in the village itself plus many other great restaurants and pubs locally. Room is light and pretty plus private bathroom with bath with shower attachments. Continental breakfast included. Tea and coffee making facilities in the room. Off road parking available. Garden to sit in.
Cherry Tree End is in the beautiful valley of Wensleydale with the river Ure below us and rolling hills above the opportunities for walking and cycling (The Tour De France passed through both Aysgarth and Middleham) are endless. Aysgarth Falls are less than 10 minutes drive away with walks and cafes. Bolton Castle is one of the country's best preserved medieval castles (Mary Queen Of Scots was imprisoned there) and is on the other side of the valley. The Forbidden Corner is also on our doorstep - voted Best Large Visitor Attraction - it is a unique system of tunnels, chambers, follies and surprises. Booking is essential! The Saddle Rooms are adjacent and the food is delicious. Leyburn Market Town has a market on Friday mornings. It is also home to The Little Chocolate Shop and Tennants Auction Rooms. Over May bank holiday is the Food and Drink Festival, The 1940's weekend is in July and The Wensleydale Show is in August. Middleham is the Horse Racing centre of the North and hosts an open day on Good Friday - the gallops are just a few minutes from West Witton. There is a steam railway that operates between Redmire and Leeming - there is a station in Leyburn. Light Water Valley is about 30-40 minutes drive. As is Aerial Extreme and Thorp Perrow Arboretum..all well worth a visit. We are spoilt for choice when it comes to places to eat. Our village shop supplies sandwiches (including bacon etc) and cakes. The Wensleydale Heifer in West Witton is a five star restaurant, fish and steak are specialities and The Fox and Hounds have more traditional pub grub.
  • A beautiful room, spotlessly clean, and warm with an electric blanket. The bathroom was equally impressive. Louise was a great host, and we helped ourselves to breakfast which was laid out for us. Thank you.

Built in 1800, Corner Cottage is in Carperby in the heart of Wensleydale. It is decorated in muted tones and retains key period features, including flagstone and wooden floors; deep window recesses; window seats; a traditional stone larder (which serves as the utility and boot room); and a large stone fireplace with wood burning stove.
An internal porch leads into the kitchen, including a dining area, and to the pantry, then to the living room. Most rooms have wooden shuttered windows. Upstairs, the house bathroom has a roll-top bath and separate shower. The master bedroom is en-suite, with a king-sized bed; and the double bedroom has a walk-in wardrobe. Both rooms and the en-suite have lovely views across to Penhill. The third bedroom – small but beautifully appointed – is ideal for a child or an adult up to 5’ 4” tall. There is a small lobby at the bottom of the stairs, with a back door to the walled garden. The garden – at its most spectacular in June and July – has outdoor seating and a table on the patio, a lawn and two further seating areas. You’re welcome to pick flowers and herbs. A garage, useful for storing bikes, houses a parasol and two barbecues. The cottage is very well-equipped, especially for cooks, including a dishwasher and food processor. Finally, Corner Cottage is an old house. It has 200 year-old features that include a flagstone staircase, so may not be suitable for unsupervised tinies. It also fronts straight onto the road through Carperby, so care must be taken when leaving and entering the house.
Carperby’s existence pre-dates the Norman Conquest. It’s a quiet and friendly village, which hosts concerts and gigs in the Village Institute and an ‘open gardens’ event in July. The pub – The Wheatsheaf Inn – is a real hub of village life which offers great food and friendly service. It also hosted the author of the James Herriot series of novels (on which the television series was based) during his honeymoon.

  • We had a lovely stay here with our two kids. The hosts were great: a light was out, they fixed it the next day; we left an item behind, they kindly posted it out to us. It was clean, well equipped and lots to keep us entertained inside if the weather was bad (which thankfully it wasn’t). We made equally good use of the board games and local walks guide. We went to Malham Cove and up to the Wensleydale Creamery at Hawes, both of which I would recommend. Beautiful part of the world, lovely little cottage. What’s not to like?

  • A wonderful cosy escape in the Dales. Everything you need at your fingertips and within such good a distance of lots to do. Kitchenette, despite being small, was super functional with a slower cooker, freezer section in fridge and a nice jug of milk for an arrival brew. Decor lovely and fresh and bed comfy, shower piping hot and thoughtful handy bits around such as clingfilm for your lunch pack up prep, shampoo, conditioner and shower gel. Plenty of good oversized towels to cosy up in after your days walk and good storage for keeping all your bits tucked away and not cluttering up the space. Well worth a visit, great value for money and very little needed to male this a home away from home.

Langcliffe is a small, historic village located on the edge of the larger town of Settle. It has a picturesque village green surrounded by traditional Dales cottages and the locals are very friendly! Langcliffe is an outdoor enthusiasts haven, with hill walks starting straight from the front door just. Please note there are no shops or pubs in Langcliffe itself, however Settle town centre with all its facilities is just a 15-20 minutes' walk, or a 2 minute drive away.
  • This is a great Airbnb. All the things you look for: easy check-in, helpful information about the area, helpful hosts and a really nice place to stay. It’s a nice little village. Perfect for walks and easy access to Settle (the walk there is nice too). Exactly what we wanted.

    Richard2020-03-18T00:00:00Z
  • The cottage is absolutely perfect! It has everything you need. Langcliffe itself is little village and you have a lovely walk (15 minutes) to Settle, where you can eat, drink and shop. We have made nice walks from the house, and by maximum 10 minutes in car. This was our first time Yorkshire Dales, we think that Tim & Helens cottage is the perfect base for it!!!

  • Great place to stay hope to go back some time

    Jayne2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • This little cottage is ideally situated for exploring the Yorkshire dales. Great walks are available from the doorstep or after a ten minute drive. Everything you need for self catering is available and the are plenty of pubs and cafes in settle just down the road. Lovely cosy place beautifully decorated.

  • Had such a wonderful stay in the Fold. The home is cosy, beautifully kept and everything two walkers needed for restful evenings! Easy to find with the directions given and nearby parking. It was a great place from which to explore the Yorkshire dales! Plenty in the kitchen to cater for ourselves and Tim even gave some great recommendations for a nearby birthday breakfast. Cannot recommend highly enough! Thanks for a lovely stay. The fire was extra special and a super comfy bed!

    Angela2020-03-03T00:00:00Z
  • If you want a place to get away from it all, then The Fold is perfect. It’s a pleasant walk into Settle for local amenities. Very comprehensive information is provided by Tim and Helen before you arrive and any queries are dealt with promptly. We had a very enjoyable weekend doing very little except relax.

    Jane2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • The cottage is set in a beautiful location down a very quiet lane. It's perfect for a couple to get away from it all! Lovely open fire, super comfy bed & nice big bath! Everything you need for self catering and a good wifi signal too! The surrounding scenery is stunning and Settle is superb for great pubs & quirky shops. We particularly enjoyed the food at the golden lion and the hospitality and ales at the Talbot. Being just a 20 min walk into the village was ideal! We will highly recommend to our friends!

  • Great place to stay. Gillian was a good host, pleasant to talk to, and provided a great breakfast at a reasonable price, and was always available for any queries. Nice room, warm and comfortable, shower was nice too as was the location. I would definitely recommend.

    Gavin2019-11-29T00:00:00Z
  • I felt incredibly comfortable throughout my stay. It was kept warm for the cold night and the bed was very comfy, I slept very well. Amenities were provided in my room - kettle, tea and coffee etc. Location is perfectly situated for walks. Gillian is very nice and easygoing. And made a lovely breakfast in the morning which I would recommend for the small additional cost. I'd highly recommend.

  • This was a lovely room, very comfortable and clean. I will definitely stay again.

    Dan2019-10-16T00:00:00Z
  • Incredibly clean, comfortable and well thought out accommodation. Gill was a wonderful host and I would highly recommend her place. Superb location and great hospitality!

    Amanda2019-10-06T00:00:00Z
  • Superb place. The breakfast is well worth booking. It's Yorkshire continental. More than enough - ample!

    Stewart2019-09-21T00:00:00Z
  • Easiest 5 star review I’ve given. Delightful little home with a separate lounge for guests. Breakfast was great and generous. Gill very friendly. House insanely clean and tidy. Bathroom lovely. Strong shower. Local pub The Fountaine Inn does lush food, I went there every night and chatted to other visitors each day (find the seated pub area not restaurant). You are DIRECTLY behind a waterfall. Ask Gill how to cut through to it directly and then walk to Grassington or Barnsall. I also visited Malham’s cove (minibus from Skipton) which was outstanding but you’ll need to get a taxi back. 10/10. A* etc...

    Ashley2019-09-17T00:00:00Z
  • Had a great stay. Gillian was great, very accommodating. Location is wonderful, very close to the waterfall. Only issue I had was finding it, because it's actually on church rd, not the street called Linton falls.

    Mark2020-02-02T00:00:00Z
  • Staying in Lydia's apartment was absolutely nothing but a pleasure. Firstly, the communication from Lydia via AirBnb's messaging system was second-to-none, but more importantly the property itself was absolutely stunning. Modern, fresh, clean, the facilities were fantastic... It honestly was the perfect weekend in the perfect little property. Thank you so much to Lydia, I will absolutely be recommending to friends.

  • We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at The Dovecote. We went to Threshfield for a week's walking and cycling holiday. The accommodation is faultless and has everything you need, and the location is good also. There is a fabulous view from the Dovecote to wake up to every morning. Lydia was a very friendly host with suggestions for places to eat and walks/cycle rides. Would definitely recommend staying there.

I regret that the accommodation at Friars Garth Farmhouse will be closed for the duration of the COVID 19 emergency. Accommodation, car parks, restaurants, cafes, pubs and takeaways in the area have closed in order to deter crowding and support the national effort to slow the surge in infections and flatten the peak. I hope that you'll consider staying with us once things have returned to normal. In the meantime please look after yourselves, stay home, and stay safe. Nick
The bedroom and en-suite are self contained and on the first floor, and they feature sloping ceilings and low beams. There is electric heating and the en-suite has WC, wash basin and shower. The property is 5 minutes walk up from the village centre and guests will be able to buy breakfast in either the Old Barn Café from 0930 or the Lister Arms from 0800. Both of the pubs in the village also provide lunch and evening meals (we also provide a jar of granola, as well as tea and coffee in the room for a quick DIY breakfast). There is a small fridge in the room with milk, and a kettle for making hot drinks. There are 2 matching single beds which can be pushed together and covered with a super-king sized duvet if required (please note that the mattresses do no not zip together though). There are a couple of comfy chairs and a TV, and enough space to put up a travel cot if you are bringing one. To get to the room you need to climb an outside flight of stone steps; these are worn and uneven in places and we wouldn’t recommend them for anyone with limited mobility or for unsupervised young children. There is space on the driveway for parking and we can provide access on request to the garage where there is space for a couple of bikes, climbing gear etc. We can also sort out somewhere to dry wet gear if you need it and provide access to a washing machine and drying rack. Respectfully, we do don’t allow smoking either in the room or anywhere on the property, including in the gardens and driveway. We are happy to welcome dogs though, and have a dog and two cats of our own. Friars Garth Farmhouse was built in the seventeenth century for the local manager from Bolton Priory which owned half of Malham at that time. After that, it was a working farm until just a few decades ago. It is situated on the outskirts of the village and surrounded by meadows. We look forward to welcoming you and looking after you!
Malham is a traditional and picturesque village in the Yorkshire Dales, and a great starting point for numerous walks or rides. The Pennine Way passes through it. The foot of Malham Cove, an 80m (260’) high limestone cliff, is an easy 20 minute walk from the house, and there are also easy walks to the small glade and waterfall at Janet’s Foss, and the larger falls in the narrow gorge at Gordale Scar. For longer days out on foot on Malham Moor there is the tranquil Malham Tarn, and views from the top of Fountains Fell, or bridle ways across towards Settle or Kilnsey Crag, or the ‘Monks Trod’ footpath down into Arncliffe. Heading over the hills in the car, the market town of Settle is 20 minutes away. There are shops, supermarkets, restaurants and pubs and you can catch the famous Settle-Carlisle trains from here. Alternatively, driving down the dale brings you to Gargrave in about 20 minutes, and Skipton 10 minutes beyond that. Skipton is a bigger market town with shops, supermarkets, restaurants and pubs and there are frequent trains and buses to Leeds and Bradford. Short drives from Malham will also take you over to Wharfedale (Bolton Abbey, Hetton, Litton, Kettlewell), or over to the 3 peaks area (Horton, Clapham and Ingleton). Road cyclists, mountain bikers, riders, climbers and potholers will also find plenty to do in the immediate vicinity.
  • Had a lovely stay . Accommodation had everything we needed. Very comfy and clean and lovely little extra touches with fresh milk, cereals and drinks making facilities. Nick was lovely and very welcoming. Replied to any communication promptly and was very helpful. Place was in a fantastic location for walks and pubs. Will definitely be back.

Warm, clean and comfortable. Lychgate house is a modern (built 1980's) house. 3 bedrooms, enough for 6 people. It is next to a church and very near a pub. Located in the beautiful Yorkshire Dales village, Kettlewell.
My house is positioned in the centre of village, near the shop, pub and church, but is also built further back than my neighbour, so is peaceful and quiet.
Kettlewell is a quiet friendly village with 1 shop, garage, church, 3 pubs, and plenty of walks and natural beauty.
  • Brilliant place to stay, would definitely recommend. It’s even better than the pictures looked!

  • Matthew met us on arrival and showed us around. His place was clean and it has all the amenities needed for our stay. It is situated in a very nice quiet village next to the church and there was a shop and a pub restaurant within a few meters from the property. In fact we had an excellent dinner on our last night. Matthew’s place is a perfect location to explore the Yorkshire Dales. I would highly recommend it to anyone who wants to experience the beauty of the Dales.

  • Excellent stay at this AirBnb. Perfectly placed to explore the 3 peaks and plenty of other scenic local walks, with Settle only a couple of miles walk away too. The room and bathroom were immaculate and very spacious. It was also nice to have a fridge along with a kettle and Tea/Coffee/Milk as well as some biscuits and crisps provided 😁. Jenny was the perfect host, very quick to reply to messages and it was easy to find the property and to check in. Thanks for a lovely stay, James and Rachael

  • Excellent host and wonderful place to stay. Jenny is warm and friendly and very kindly gave us a lift to the accommodation from the station after our train was delayed. The accommodation is entirely private and was spotlessly clean. Brilliant location with walks right on your doorstep. Peaceful and tranquil get-away that left us feeling entirely rejuvenated. We hope to return!

The property benefits from a private terrace as well as access to a large private south facing riverside garden with fire pit. Hawkswick lies within the unspoilt picturesque Littondale valley in Upperwharfedale.
Beamed ceilings, stone/oak floors and a roaring stove gives Redmire Barn a cosy and relaxed feel. The living area leads out through double doors onto a large stone paved private terrace with garden furniture, a BBQ, various herbs/plants and stunning views up and across Littondale. There is also table-tennis table on the terrace. A well equiped kitchen with Bosch oven, induction hob, washer/dryer,dishwasher,fridge,freezer and underfloor heating complete the downstairs layout. Upstairs there are two bedrooms, each enjoying high end ensuite shower rooms, solid oak floors and bags of character.
In a rural village setting Hawkswick is well situated within the very popular upperwharfedale area yet just off the beaten track so as to avoid the crowds. Within 10 minutes drive are the villages of Threshfield, Linton, Grassington, Kettlewell, Buckden and Arncliffe- home of the famous Falcon Inn (the original Woolpack pub from Emmerdale Farm) where beer is still served in jugs direct from the cask (30 minute scenic walk along the river skirfare) The area is teaming with traditional Dales pubs and cafes as well as deli's, fine dining restaurants and a very well stocked convenience store with an award-winning butcher. Upperwharfedale has always been known for it's stunning scenery and in recent years has gained world-wide adoration thanks to hosting the Tour de France and Tour de Yorkshire. Littondale and the surrounding areas provide walks for people of all abilities from a 15 minute lap of the village of the Yorkshire 3 peaks and everything in between. Walking opportunities are available directly from the property. Trout fishing is A popular pastime in the area, with the river Skirfare providing some of the most idyllic places in the country to cast a line - day tickets are available at the Falcon Inn, Arncliffe. Those with less experience may wish to try their luck at Kilnsey Park Estate 2 miles downriver where even a novice is sure to catch a trout. The park also has nature trails, crafts and a fine cafe. Stumpcross Caverns, White Scar caves and Ingleborough caves are all within easy commute and offer an opportunity to see what lies below the beautiful scenery of Upper Wharfedale. At the head of the dale lies Halton Gill and Malham Cove filming locations for ‘Woman in Black’ and ‘Harry Potter and the Deathly Hollows/Philosopher's Stone.’ ‘The Calendar girls’ was also filmed in Upper Wharfedale. (Our Facebook page; ‘Redmire Barn, Dales Holiday Cottage’ has links to useful information about many of these popular places.) The Yorkshire boasts an abundance of waterfalls, to name only a few; Janet’s Foss (near Malham Cove/ Gordale Scar), Linton Falls, Aysgarth Falls, Stainforth Force (Seattle) and Ingleton Waterfalls Trail which is a well-known circular trail beginning and ending in the village of Ingleton. It is claimed that the trail, some 8 kilometres (5 mi) long, and with a vertical rise of 169 m (554 feet) has some of the most spectacular waterfall and woodland scenery in the north of England. Long Ashes spa and fitness centre 3 miles from the property provides treatments as well as a gym, swimming pool, hot tub, steam room, cafe and restaurant. Day passes can be purchased to use the facilities. If you fancy bracing a spot of ‘wild-swimming’ there are some popular spots near to us. The market town of Skipton is around 25 minutes drive and is home to many excellent pubs, restaurants, shops, Skipton market - 3 times a week and a very well preserved medieval castle. Narrow boat rides are available in Skipton. Skipton and surrounding areas were recently recognised as the happiest place in England to live!
  • Woooow, this was amazing. Everything was simply perfect. Never have I ever stayed somewhere where everything you want to have was actually available. Especially in the kitchen. Perfect bed, better shower than at home. Rachel & Simon were the perfect host. We had decided to stay in two different places during our holiday, but we decided to cancel our second location and stay with them. Our 1 year old daughter was spoiled with books, toys & stuffed animals to play with. The room was perfect for children. They even had gates for the stairs!!! You won't be disappointing here. Enjoy!

  • My family and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Redmire Barn. It is decorated to a very high standard and has everything you would ever need. It is extremely cosy and comfortable. Simon and Rachel made us feel very welcome and were happy to answer any queries and offer suggestions on the local area. Unfortunately we didn’t have the greatest weather so we made lots of use of the billiard table and Netflix. My teenage son thought this was amazing. We had a fabulous Sunday lunch at the nearby White Lion, which had a roaring open fire. (As suggested by Simon and Rachel) We also visited a local American Diner/ice cream parlour. Also great if you have children. We have had a lovely, peaceful, relaxing few days away, which is exactly what we were after. I wished we had booked for longer!

  • We had an AMAZING stay at Redmire barn. They were there to show us around at the start and give us plenty of advice for our stay. We went on a walk directly from the barn which was amazing so no need to drive anywhere! Gave us many food recommendations, but the kitchen was so equipped and lovely that we just wanted to stay in and cook in the lovely space! Absolutely loved our stay and will be returning for sure, couldn’t have had a better time

    Hannah2020-01-05T00:00:00Z
  • Simon and Rachel are brilliant hosts and the barn is of a very high standard

    Brian2020-01-02T00:00:00Z
  • A real treat in every way. Super stylish accommodation ( I wanted to redecorate when I got home) where everything felt brand new. Rachel was amazing and very accommodating when our plans changed. It feels as if a lot of thought goes into your stay - from the welcome basket with Halloween treats to the tuck shop and local tips. The billiards table was very popular with our teens. We loved the location - a beautiful dale with walks from the doorstep.

    Melissa2019-10-28T00:00:00Z
  • Redmire Barn is beautiful, cozy, sparkling clean and full of little touches to make your stay comfortable. The location is amazing and is a great mix of tranquil countryside whilst being only 30 minutes from Skipton. Rachel and Simon are wonderful hosts who can’t do enough to ensure that you enjoy your stay. We would highly recommend.

    Lisa2019-10-25T00:00:00Z
  • We had a fantastic few days spent in the cottage at Redmire Farm. Rachel was a terrific host - so welcoming and full of good advice. She really has put a lot of effort into the cottage to ensure it has everything to meet your needs - it has been fitted out to a very high standard and it is beautifully decorated. The welcome basket was lovely and the tuck shop with an honesty box went down a treat with the kids! There was a file full of useful information on where to visit in the area. We had the second bedroom made up as two single beds which suited our family of four. The billiards table was an added bonus and we are now all addicts! The surrounding area is stunning with plenty to do. The only downside was having to leave after just a few days!

    Jenn2019-10-15T00:00:00Z
  • We spent an brilliant few days up in the Dales staying at Simon and Rachel's cottage. It had been converted to an incredibly high standard by Simon himself, and you could tell how much effort had been made to make it a truly stylish and contemporary cottage, whilst still embracing all of the beauty of the surrounding area. Despite us arriving fairly late on a Friday evening, Simon and Rachel were there to greet us, help us in with out luggage and show us the lay of the land. We appreciated all the little touches, from the stylish kitchen appliances, to the art work, to the stylish lounge cushions and decor, to the incredibly comfortable beds and the softest bedding! We were in the area for the Cycling World Championships and were able to watch the race come past the end of our road. Sadly the weather was biblical, so it was brilliant to come back afterwards and get cosy in the cottage with the log burner on, tuck into some tasty pies from the local butchers and crack open the bottle of red that Simon and Rachel were kind enough to leave us in our welcome pack, and settle in for the night with a good film! We cannot wait to come back again!

  • Superbly located within hiking range of more waterfalls than you can shake a stick at - a great position for walkers, with lots of room for boots and coats. An excellent little flat conversion, really warm and comfortable and very neatly put together. Great to come back to after a chilly winter's day walking. We filled out the 2020 RSPB Big Garden Birdwatch sat on the floor peering out the windows and got lots of sightings! Penny was an excellent host, very welcoming and helpful in every way. The local pub is three minutes walk and does very good food and drink.

  • Zena and Nick were super nice and kind. We had no trouble finding the place despite using public transport only. The place looks exactly like in the picture. During our stay, we had a chance to see the red squirrel every morning from the Hut. It was our first experience staying in the Hut and it was memorable.

    Cindy2019-11-04T00:00:00Z
  • Zena and Nick's place is beautiful. The Shephard's Hut is designed beautifully in natural colours and feels so homey. The hut is located in a woodland, which is stunning and, when we visited, full of vibrant Autumnal colours. There is unforutnately no stove or oven, but the hut does have a toaster and microwave to heat food with. We felt very welcome at Nick and Zena's place, and would love to return in the future.
