Places to stay in Samish Island
Spectacular views of mountains and the San Juan islands from the cliff edge on this wooded five acre estate on the peninsula which is Samish Island. Quiet and secluded you are unlikely to hear cars, but you may hear the rattling of anchor chains from the boats in the bay and the chipping sound of bald eagles outside. Two bedrooms; One with queen-size bed, the other a twin day bed and office combo.A third pullout sofa bed is in the living room.
This is an ideal getaway for a romantic weekend. Or a great place for a retreat from the corona virus.Doubly disinfected, it can fit 3 people .
Walk in any direction you will soon arrive at the beach. You may not see any cars,or people. You are sure to see and hear bald eagles, likely deer.
  • The setting amongst the trees and garden overlooking the water was beyond what we expected. Absolutely a beautiful place to spend time with my love. The amenities we’re comfortable. John’s touring information was super helpful and the location was was perfect for throwing on your shoes and getting out to enjoy all that Samish Island has to offer. Having Edison near by was great as well. We will definitely stay here again.

  • What a great guest house! Very cool drive into the property through a tightly-wooded, slightly windy, forested lot which opens-up to an awesome turn circle with main house on one side and the guest house (Airbnb) on the other! There is easy private parking with fresh gravel and a path to the guest house. The deck is about 1/3-covered and has a nice bench to sit on and enjoy the view across the long lawn. Quite spacious inside; comfortably fits 3-4 guests. Clean cabin with good amenities and working oven/fridge. The bathroom was clean and the shower has good water pressure. The host was friendly, very communicative, and flexible to my schedule (thank you!). I can’t wait to come back and stay here again!

  • Just as described. Great host.

  • A secluded get-away with an awesome back yard and view. We took advantage of the fire pit overlooking the bay. We would recommend a trip to the local Blau Oyster shop for some giant fresh oysters.

  • Space was as described, comfortable and easy to use, good communication

  • Beautiful & enchanting forested property. We enjoyed simply walking down the driveway & back, especially at night. Very beautiful. I found the walk to the public beach to be easy & enjoyable, about 15min to get there. Lots of agates & shells along the beaches to keep an eye out for as well as a variety of birds including bald eagles. The house was simple & comfortable. We felt we had our privacy with it being a shared property. Thanks for letting us stay. We will keep you in mind for future stays. -kb

  • A secluded and peaceful cottage nestled next to a beautiful landscaped property with a sweeping water view. The unassuming cottage is warm and clean with a well stocked kitchen you can use to cook in, or you can use the grill outside with supplied briquettes. There is a down to earth living room that has large picture frame windows to take in the beautiful outside view. The big screen TV is a huge plus with lots of free content, and has a very strong WiFi signal. The area is very quiet, and my only regret is that I did not get to all the hiking spots or light a fire in the outstanding fire pit. Definitely next time!!

  • We loved being at John's. If you are looking to get away from the urban environment while still retaining all the luxuries of it, this is a place to visit. It was quiet and peaceful while we were there. One can focus on writing, self-reflection, or other ways of self-care, while still being able to use a wi-fi for tasks that cannot be put off. The back of the house has a neat little tennis court and a basketball hoop, too, which we did not use but had the option to. I hope to be back.

Our convenient location is a half mile from Blau Oyster plant for fresh seafood. A recently added beach access is less than a mile away provided by the Skagit Land Trust. Be sure to contact the host for many more attractions in the area.
  • A lovely, quiet, private place to stay on Samish Island. It was perfect for what I needed.

  • We had a wonderful time on Samish Island. The area is very quiet and peaceful, we saw lots of birds and had nice walks by the beach. Dave's place was very clean, spacious and convenient. The bedroom is large enough to accomodate a toddler's bed beside the bed. Dave is caring, very responsive and helpful. The little town of Edison nearby is lovely and has good restaurants- we went twice to the Terramar brewery which turned out to have a kids play room, we had a amazing time there as a family!

    Aline & Alex2019-12-29T00:00:00Z
  • Gorgeous location, the area is full of great birds like bald eagles, hawks, and snow geese. Dave was extremely helpful and accommodating. The space suited our needs and was larger than we expected.

  • Dave made us feel right at home. He was very accommodating and very friendly. It was very spacious and clean. The bedroom is huge compared to most places we have been. Nice get away... very serene and quiet... enjoyed it immensely. Thank you Dave!

  • A warm welcome, a perfectly clean and spacious apartment that is quiet and shows pride of ownership.

    Daniel2019-09-16T00:00:00Z
  • Nice quiet space; true to the descriptions and photos. Dave was welcoming and helpful, offering ideas for sightseeing and activities in the area.

    Peter2019-09-08T00:00:00Z
  • Dave's space was exactly as described and was a great place to rest our heads after long days of exploring the area. It's a cozy space to rest and get ready for long days. The water gets hot fast such a plus! And it was nice to enjoy a cup of good coffee before we left for our adventures. He was helpful about mentioning places to eat in the area. If we booked longer stay we would have asked for more recommendations of places to see and explore. A great affordable stay!

Beach front property on Samish Island, WA . You’ll love my place because of Pacific NW experience. My place is good for couples, solo adventurers, and families (with kids).
"Pine Suite" is a newly remodeled private guest area in our water-front home located on Samish Island with it's own private entrance. The guest area has three rooms: a sitting room, a bathroom with shower and sauna, and a bedroom. The bedroom is furnished with a queen-size bed, wardrobe, refrigerator, and microwave. The sitting room has a Ikea sofa that can be opened into an additional bed. It also has television and access to Wi-Fi. Samish Island is located in Skagit County approximately 20 minutes northwest of Burlington. It is an easy and beautiful countryside drive onto the island from I-5. The home is located on a low-bank waterfront property facing north towards Samish Bay and beyond to Bellingham Bay with views of the San Juan Islands and Mount Baker. A pebble beach is accessible during low tides where clams and small agates can be found. Our island is friendly and welcomes walking, jogging, biking, paddle boarding and canoeing. Samish Island is ideally located for visiting Mount Vernon during the Tulip Festival. Other nearby attractions are Deception Pass, Larrabee Park, Chuckanut Drive, LaConner, Anacortes, Burlington, and nearby Edison. Edison is a quaint, small town with several attractions including: Bread Farm Bakery, Slough Foods, Tweets, The Edison Inn, and The Longhorn Saloon. The town is also the home of several antique shops and art galleries. Additionally, Skagit County has several casinos, shopping malls, and theaters.
Samish Island is accessible by road as many years ago the tide flats to the south were diked. The island (peninsula) has approximately 400 homes.
  • One of the cutest places we have stayed! A great Valentines Day weekend getaway to cute and kitschy Samish Island! Even in the winter, we found many ways to enjoy the area. The Pine Suite is cute, clean, and private! Lots and lots of special touches!!

  • Thank you Jerry & Janene for a wonderful stay in your cozy home. It felt like we were in a little cabin in the woods. From the beginning our experience was wonderful! Jerry was extremely attentive and responsive to the many questions that I had even before I reserved the AirbnB. Each time I had a question or stated anything Jerry was very responsive. Their flexibility was so helpful and so very appreciated. From the moment we entered the your home it felt like home. All the little touches like, having the heat on so the home was warm when we arrived, the affirmations, the beautiful paintings all around the space, beverages, cereal, tips of the area, detailed information about the home and how to use things, the extra blankets, towels and pillows and so much more. Even though the weather was not perfect the entire time we were there on the last day it cleared up and we were able to see the beautiful view on the water and Jerry showed us various key places on the island. And before we left there was a wonderful touch that made our stay even more special. Thank you again Jerry & Janene for sharing your home with us. Your kindness and hospitality was wonderful and my husband & I will certainly stay in your home again if we are in the area

    Pauline2020-01-01T00:00:00Z
  • Janene and Jerry's place is not only accurately described in the listing, super clean and new and modern but it is also full of thoughtful and nice touches. Their guests won't lack coffee, tea, bathroom supplies, guide books to get to know the area. + Janine and Jerry are super nice and welcoming. We also loved the sauna after a good day hiking. We definitely recommend the place! Thank you for letting us stay, Janine and Jerry!

    Nicolas2019-11-12T00:00:00Z
  • The Pine Suite is a great place to stay for a get-away weekend - very quite and relaxing plus near many places to explore: Padillo Reserve, Anacortes, and La Conner to the south and Bellingham to the north. Beautiful views at the front of the home. Pine Suite is at the back, but it’s an easy walk to the front. Comfortable bed (dark bedroom in the mornings so easy to sleep in late!), and cozy living room. Lots of instant coffee and tea choices to use with the electric water kettle, plus cereals, oatmeals, milk and water bottles. Blow dryer and other toiletries provided too. Thanks, Jerry and Janine, for your hospitality!

    Sandi2019-10-27T00:00:00Z
  • We arrived late the room was easy to find directly to the right of the garage. The door was unlocked the space heater warming the sitting area was welcome with the wind and heavy rain outside. The bed was very comfortable with a beautiful hand painted mural on the ceiling. There is other lovely artwork including a quilt that was hand quilted. There is a microwave and mini fridge. There is only a small amount of space to prep your microwave food. Light snacks are provided as well as milk and bottled water ( the tap water even tastes good!!) There is a sauna we never got a chance to use but a nice touch indeed. A short walk to the front of the house affords a great view and quiet place to watch the waves when the tide is in and the seagulls on the flats when the tide is out. Thanks Jerry and Janene for a great stay.

    Kathleen2019-10-24T00:00:00Z
  • Second time for me, and Jerry and Janene are great hosts. Such a tranquil island feel with no ferries!! Cute little town nearby. I had a picnic with charcuterie from the wine deli, and fresh bread and cookies from the upscale bakery. I’ll be back soon.

    Jan2019-10-20T00:00:00Z
  • The space is so cute and cozy! Three of us stayed there, and it was very comfortable. The sauna was amazing!!

Cozy home on low traffic road on scenic and peaceful Samish Island.
Coffee and tea available, as well as eggs, cereal, and bread for breakfast
Rural Samish Island has public beach access, stunning water views, a small park, comfortable roadside walking, Blau Oyster seafood shop, is a relatively short drive to the towns of Bellingham, Anacortes (ferry access to San Juan Islands), and La Conner. Also a 7 minute drive to the charming and popular destination town of Edison. Local area offers plenty of outdoor activities including hiking, fishing, biking, boating, clamming, bird and whale watching.
  • Amazing place, a lot of extra amenities that weren't listed or mentioned. Very clean, quiet, amazing eclectic decor.

  • Comfortable, quiet and clean place. A great location for a getaway close to Seattle and dog-friendly as well. I look forward to a return visit to Aslan's home, and Edison/Bow.

    Stephanie2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • We felt right at home immediately. Everything we needed was right there! There is eclectic art and books everywhere. The furniture and bed are very comfortable. There is a small jetted tub, which was quite unexpected. Aslan is a wonderful host. There are so many wonderful touches in the home, and he was very quick to respond when we had questions. This is a wonderful value. A great place for a weekend getaway. We'll be back!

1959 Airstream set amid gardens with a view of Guemes channel. Walking or biking to beaches. Unique island with 5 minute ferry ride.
  • This is the perfect place for a getaway. Vicki and Chuck were very welcoming, and nothing beats freshly baked scones for making a guest feel at home. The vintage AirStream is extremely charming, and the privacy of its location was great. Check out what is available to do on the island before you come. I wished I had brought my own bicycle, but I loved curling up with my book and a cup of tea in the evening after a hike up Guemes mountain. Everything in the trailer is very compact; I found it cozy, but if you need more space this might not be for you.

    Myra2019-09-22T00:00:00Z
  • This is a delightful place to stay on lovely Guemes Island! The Airstream has everything you need for a cozy time. The hosts are friendly, reply promptly, and have added many nice touches to the place. There is a new toilet and the bed is comfortable. We cooked our meals and enjoyed eating just outside on the covered deck. We had a great time!

    David2019-08-26T00:00:00Z
  • Part of me didn’t want to write a review because then the secret will be out about this wonderful spot. Vicki was very responsive before checking in and was giving us tips on our timing knowing the ferry can be busy. She met us as soon as we arrived and got us settled in. She even gave us a tip for a hike that would be a good fit for us and told us about a local concert that ended up being wonderful. We only stayed 2 nights and it was the perfect weekend getaway! Thank you!

    Alyssa2019-08-18T00:00:00Z
  • Our stay at Chuck and Vicki’s place was amazing! The Airstream was nicely decorated and they were very hospitable, they even left cookies and apples for us. Overall a fantastic stay.

    Eliza2019-08-04T00:00:00Z
  • Really cool space in a beautiful garden with lots of privacy and a separate car entrance, super friendly and helpful hosts, and very easy to get to from the ferry. No hesitations about recommending this place to others.

  • A sweet little Airstream tucked away in lovely Guemes Island. It's an easy bike ride from the ferry and Guemes Island General Store maybe two miles. Chuck and Vicki are delightful and wonderful hosts.

Enjoy the lovely setting of the San Juan Islands without having to take a ferry. Perched atop a high bank overlooking Puget Sound, the casual and comfortable Beach House offers you the freedom to pass time as you wish. Originally a Sears kit cabin from the 1940’s, the Beach house has been completely remodeled into a light and open retreat to make your stay relaxing and memorable. Curl up with a book or enjoy a libation on the sunny deck while watching Great Blue Herons search for their next meal. Drift off into an afternoon nap on the comfy couch or inviting plush bed. Just a walk down the private stairs leads you to Beach Walking, Boating, Kayaking or Clamming. The quiet road in front of the cabin is a one mile loop that is popular for walking, cycling, or jogging. However you choose to spend your time on Samish Island, the Beach House is a pleasant haven to stay.
  • Good clean space with beautiful views.

    Navjot2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • Such a great AirBnB! The Beach House on Samish Island was the perfect low key weekend getaway that my husband and I were looking for. The entire house was clean and spacious, bed was comfy, and front yard patio and beach patio were great places to relax! The Beach across the street and other areas of Samish were fun to explore. The kitchen comes with pretty much anything you need to stay in and cook, and Jen offers several local restaurant and area suggestions in case you want to venture out, or need to pick up groceries before heading to the house. The weather was perfect, so we were able to leave the windows open all weekend to let in the cool, sea breeze — a total plus for us since we’re from Arizona where it’s super hot this time of year. Jen was very quick to respond to any questions we had and she even placed fresh flowers on the table welcoming us for the weekend. We would definitely stay here again the next time we’re in the area!

    Maggie2019-08-19T00:00:00Z
  • A lovely and comfortable cabin in a beautiful location. Just the perfect size and well appointed with everything needed for a wonderful stay.

    Cynthia2019-08-10T00:00:00Z
  • This is a must stay place! A private get away with amazing places to explore around. Look out your window and see bald eagles or deer all around! We came for our mini moon and will be back! Don’t think twice you must stay here!

    Mary2019-07-21T00:00:00Z
  • Samish island is a perfect place to relax and get in tune with the natural beauty of the Pacific Northwest. And this is the perfect little home from which to enjoy it. All the little touches and attention paid to comfortable living spaces allowed us to enjoy family time in ways we wish we could at home. We More than recommend this for couples or small families looking to relax and casually explore together. Thanks again Jen!!

    Billy2019-06-16T00:00:00Z
  • This was absolutely the perfect place for our honeymoon! It is the most relaxing, quiet, peaceful environment with stunning views. The Beach House had everything we could have needed and Jen was so sweet to welcome us with fresh flowers, a card congratulating us and some champagne! We will be back for sure and will recommend it to everyone we know!

    Kelsey2019-04-18T00:00:00Z
  • Not only was the cottage lovely, comfortable, and in excellent shape, viewing the water from the front porch where we had lunch was a treat, and then simply crossing the road and going down some steps found us right on their private beach. So relaxing... Jen was a perfect hostess and quick to reply when we contacted her. We were using the home as a base from which to explore the area and to celebrate our 53rd Anniversary. It was perfect!

    Shirley2018-09-26T00:00:00Z
  • We were delighted by the beach cottage: a splendid location, intimate in scale, all we might need on hand, extraordinary quiet, a lovely view. We enjoyed immensely the return each day, following field and sky to Samish Island. We would be happy to return.

Our "Yellow Cottage" is a cute and quiet place to stay that is a short walk to Cap Sante Marina, Old Town, and the Farmers Market. Comfortable beds with an open living room/kitchen area for you to enjoy. Contractors or business travelers will find it to be a perfect short term location who work at the harbor, hospital, Shell or NAS.
Everyone loves this cottage! It is bright, open and clean. We have friendly neighbors if you need help with anything. Relax on the front porch and take in the clean air, and the sounds of seagulls! Take a walk on Saturday to the Farmers Market or the marina. It's just a wonderful relaxing place to stay!
You are staying in a typical Anacortes, friendly neighborhood! The house is located at the end of a cul-de-sac. It is very quiet as well. You can walk to Old Town and the marina to enjoy restaurants and shops. The drive to Deception Pass is about 15 minutes, Shell refinery is 15 minutes, hospital 5 minutes, and NAS about 20 minutes.
  • Sarah's place had everything that we needed (and much more). Her cottage is beautiful and was spotless. Each room has its own heater, so you can keep your bedrooms at your own desirable temperature. We only used part of the facilities, but everything was tastefully decorated and perfect. Anacortes is an interesting city and her place is in a good location for exploring the city. Thanks, Sarah.

    Bob2020-03-11T00:00:00Z
  • We found this home the host in the city of Anacortes wonderful. It’s a lovely place a safe place a quiet place a good neighborhood with lots of views and great restaurants.

    Mark2020-03-09T00:00:00Z
  • It was a beautiful little cottage and we very much enjoyed our stay. Sarah's communication with us was fantastic and she let us know that she had been contacted by the power company when the power was out, which didn't even affect us because we weren't there at the time. She is very prompt to respond to any inquiries. Definitely will stay there again!

    Julie2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • Quiet is rare in an air bnb. We loved the cottage for this and the comfort of having a kitchen to cook meals in and throw blankets to cuddle on the couch for movie nights. Daylight pours in and lights up the rooms. Sarah responded in minutes. We stayed a month and will again.

    Karen2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • A truly charming home away from home for our girl’s winter weekend. Close to the water and downtown for outings, and a warm and inviting space with everything needed to sit back and spend time with loved ones.

Newly built tiny house finished in June 2015. Master loft sleeps 2 on the memory foam Queen mattress. Small loft has a foldout single-sleeper foam pad that fits a shorter-sized adult which we make up into a bed upon request, otherwise it remains a reading/lounge area with no sheets. Kitchen has a large toaster oven, (can fit a pizza) 2 burner cook top, all cooking utensils you'll need, small fridge, eating nook, couch, bathroom, TV w/Netflix, outdoor patio, fire pit, bbq & more!
Queen memory foam mattress is located in main loft, and there is a single sleeper foam pad in the smaller reading-nook loft. This single sleeping spot will only be made up into a bed with sheets for a rental of two people IF REQUESTED beforehand. Otherwise it will be set up for lounging and reading during your stay, as we will assume the 2 guests are sharing queen bed. Kitchen has a mini fridge with a freezer, 2 burner stove top, toaster oven, coffee maker, french press and all the plates, pots & pans, silverware and mugs needed to make and enjoy your meals. We also have some spices, condiments and cooking extras in the kitchen that you are free to use. Couch and small dining area for two also located on main floor with kitchen. Propane BBQ, picnic table and fire pit on patio outside. A few different bikes are available to use during your stay, if you want to explore and walk or pedal around the island and they are located in the grey and green Rubbermaid shed near the tiny house along with bike pump and helmets. On island food options: The main island store at the ferry landing is currently open Seven days a week, and serves food, beer and wine, and sells limited grocery items. The store is a fun place to sit at the bar and chat with local islanders, or sit outside in the beer garden on sunny days and watch the boats go by. There is also a small store at the Guemes Island Resort on the North tip of the island, that sells beer, wine, and alcohol, and limited food items (like frozen pizzas!) It is open daily from 9 - 7pm and is a 15 minute drive from the Tiny house.
Guemes is home to 650 full time year-round residents and has a wonderful island community. We have one main store on the island that provides amenities you may need like beer and wine, food items and gas right above the ferry landing. Open 7 days a week. There are two large grocery stores in Anacortes, and we recommend buying your food items at one of them before catching the ferry to Guemes. The Guemes Resort on North Beach also has a "tiny" store where you can find the best selection of beer and wine on the island. My husband and I both live and work through the woods just up the driveway from the Tiny House and usually will be home to answer any questions you have unless we have specified otherwise. We have a woodworking studio built using two 40' shipping containers and a screen printing studio on site, so keep in mind the random car will sometimes pass-by heading up to the main house during the day picking up deliveries or employees heading to work. This is infrequent but worth noting.
  • I mean, this is the kind of place that gets featured in magazines and TV shows. Loved all the artist “makers” touches. Very comfortable and stylish. Totally secluded, no houses in sight. Great privacy. The island is rural and small, which is great for getting away. The mountain hike makes me want to live there now. Everything perfect, thanks again Jessica and Carson!

  • Such a perfect tiny house for a weekend away! The home was thoughtfully built and beautifully decorated. Comfortable bed and couches! Great outdoor space with bbq and fire pit. Very quiet, close to general store, hike and beaches. We would absolutely recommend this place for anyone wanting a secluded weekend away. Thanks Jessica and Carson!

  • The tiny house was the perfect place to spend a private, cozy weekend away. We would definitely go back.

    Katherine2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • We loved the tiny home! We especially enjoyed the local artwork throughout the home. The mountain hike was the highlight of our stay and is a must do. Would also suggest visiting the General Store for a delicious and locally sourced meal.

  • Absolutely exceptional; so grateful to be Jessica & Carson’s guests at the tiny house on Guemes. Thank you!

  • Perfect tiny house for a relaxing and quiet getaway. The home itself is a labor of love and beautifully remodeled and styled. It's makers home with unique, artistic touches throughout. My favorite was the reading nook, a comfy space in a loft. I spent a lot of time indoors being cozy! The home has everything you need - mini fridge, 2 burner stove, toaster oven and kitchen supplies and full bathroom, with nice hot water for the shower. Location is great - a bit off a main road so it's tucked behind but a short drive to the ferry.

This is a modest fully furnished apartment.
I recommend the rooftop of the Majestic Hotel during the summer and the Cap Sante Overlook for great views. The Anacortes Farmers Market is an excellent Saturday activity 9 am to 2 pm May through October. There are great restaurants and cafés here: Adrift Restaurant, A-Town Bistro, Maryanne's Kitchen, Anthony's and Gere- Deli. Visit Burton Jewelers for an old-fashioned retail store experience. A one of a kind enteratianment experience awaits you at the unique, historic Lincoln Theater in nearby Mount Vernon. The Anacortes community forest lands are the jewel in the crown of our city. My favorite parks are Whistle lake, Little Cranberry, Washington Park, Sharpes Park, Rosario State Park Maps: For entertainment check out the Rock Fish Grill, H20 and Swinomish Casino . Guemes Island is a short trip away for a San Juan island experience in a short timeframe. Go to 6th and I ave for the Skagit County Ferry. It is a great place for a bike ride, a visit to School House Park, Youngs Park, Guemes Island Resort and a hike up the Guemes Mountain trail.

  • Dog-friendly accommodations at this modern home. Neat fireplace. No issues staying warm overnight in high 30s-low 40 degree F. The kitchen had whole coffee beans and a coffee grinder with French press and Chemex. Nicely stocked amenities. Cute island. Ferry was easy to access.

  • This place is just jaw dropping. Great place to get away and just be on your own. Guemes Island was amazing and it’s worth every dollar.

  • Very much enjoyed this amazing cabin. The mattresses and bedding was comfortable. There were a lot of great instructions on how to use appliances and the fireplace. The woods surrounding the property were beautiful. And the home itself is very striking, inside and out, with a lot of cool materials.

  • Beautiful, curated space that has everything you need for a relaxing weekend or for a place to work on a creative project. Perfect for the two of us and our pup. We loved our stay and would go back for sure!

Love love love this house and the decor, great snacks and comfortable furniture! Looks exactly how it is pictured!

    Courtney2020-02-05T00:00:00Z
  • The space was perfect for my wife and I along with our two dogs. Near complete seclusion, easy to navigate ferries, thoughtful snacks and activities, we loved the wood stove, and the kitchen was easy to use. We hope to come back soon!

  • If you are thinking about it, don't.. just go! This house is modern and open, yet offers the most cozy environment. We felt so relaxed and really enjoyed each other's company around the fire, without the noise of a TV, honking cars or the hum of life. Guemes Island is beautiful and everyone is so friendly, sad that it is strange to see a friendly wave from everyone that passes and to be greeted with a smile. It feels like you have just stepped back in time on this sleepy little island, couldn't recommend it more!

This idyllic Samish Island waterfront cabin features views of the San Juan Islands and Mt. Baker. Conveniently located just 30 minutes from Bellingham and 1 1/2 hours from Seattle. Newly renovated interior features a spacious living room, fully equipped kitchen, 1bd with king size bed, and living room futon converts to a full size bed. Step outside front door to patio with table, chairs, and BBQ, all overlooking the bay at this low-bank waterfront property. Cable TV and WI-FI.
  • This cabin was amazing. Rented it for my girlfriend and I for valentine's day weekend. The cabin was immaculately clean. Views were really beautiful. The cabin saltayed nice and warm with the new ductless heaters Peter has installed. Check in and out were simple, everyone in the neighborhood were very friendly. Peter also recommended restaurants for valentine's day and knocked it out of the park with the suggestion. The only 2 cons, which the way peter ran this cabin I'm sure will he remedied very quickly are. 1. The bed is 2 twin mattresses and you tend to fall in the middle of them while sleeping. And 2. The coffee pot leaked badly while trying to make some tea. All in all this cabin was amazing, as was the host peter, and we are planning on staying here many more times.

    Robert2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • Great spot right on the water. close to fun Restaurants and shops. Stocked, Clean and cozy.

    Joe2020-01-13T00:00:00Z
  • This is a great cabin. Extremely clean. Tons of supplies (towels, bedding, cooking utensils, pellets for the stove). Great views, lots of windows. Bedroom is small, but there is a very roomy closet that even has chairs to sit in, so you can easily dress in there and store your bags etc. Shampoo, conditioner, body wash dispensers in the shower. Could use a regular king bed rather than two twins together. Would definitely stay again, and will recommend to my friends.

    Valerie2020-01-03T00:00:00Z
  • Fabulous place and fantastic host!!! Will always come back!!

    Nicole2019-11-17T00:00:00Z
  • We enjoyed our stay at Peter’s place. Location by the water cannot be beat. A great little pellet stove kept us warm in the evenings. It was very clean. The bed was comfortable.

    Rich2019-10-15T00:00:00Z
  • What a nice little gem! We had a great stay, and Peter is super responsive when you have any questions. Has a great view of the bay, and you can see a few of the islands right from the back door. Nice and clean inside, nice kitchen, living room area is really nice to hang out in. Not that it was a bad thing, but it should be noted that the bedroom is quite small. The bed is 2 twin mattresses on a king-sized base, so if you toss and turn a lot like my husband and I do, the mattresses move and create a canyon in the middle. Not a huge deal, but something to note. The bed takes up the majority of the room, and you have to shuffle to get around to the other side. The closet provides the best space for changing clothes and such - because there is not enough room in the bedroom to do so. However - the bed felt great, and we slept super well! There are extra blankets and pillows available in the closet if needed. One more item of note - there are two cabins on either side of this one, and they are quite close. Only one of the cabins was occupied while we were there, and we were quite aware of how close they were, especially when we could hear them talking like they were just in the other room. The blinds and curtains were able to block a fair amount of that out, though. The location is a nice jumping off point for many activities - we spent one day driving up Mount Baker, and another day driving around Whidbey Island. The central location to both of these made things super easy, and we know that there are many many more activities and locations we could have visited if we had had the time. Overall, great stay in a nice location. Definitely recommend based on location and price!

    Jessica2019-10-06T00:00:00Z
  • Very nice cabin, right on the beach. The Fire-pit is nice, you can pick some up firewood and kindling at WD Foods nearby. Peter is responsive, clear, and hands off, which I appreciate. There aren't endless rules, which I appreciated. Make sure you park in the grass in front of the wooden bar instead of in the driveway or you might get a visit from a neighbor. There are plenty of glasses, coffee cups, plates, utensils, paper towels, dish soap, coffee filters, towels, extra pillows. The cabin was incredibly clean. There are new heating units in it, but we found that it stayed plenty warm without them. The bed is a double twin (king), pretty comfortable. The kitchen sink is large, which is great if you pickup fresh seafood from Blau Oysters just two or three blocks away. I picked up Mussels, Shrimp, and Oysters. All of them were very good, and they're happy to talk to you down there. The neighbors are friendly and watchful. The area surrounding the cabin threw me for a loop, as there is various types of construction going on. However, there was no loud noise or machinery going on during our stay. Nice and quiet. I'd stay again.

  • The cottage is a great value in a great location. We came here in December and managed to be lucky with great weather. Great place for long walks in the freshest of air. Just off the island is the small town of Edison. Great farm fresh food!

    David2019-12-29T00:00:00Z
  • A cleaning fee was not included, but you will have to rush on your last day to wash sheets and dishes before checkout time.

  • Expect a warm, cozy, well-sized home that makes a stay away from home seem “homey”. Off the beaten track, halfway between Anacortes and Bellingham, nestled into the foot of the Chuckanuts and just a minute from the beach on picturesque Puget Sound. We would definitely use hosts again.

    Paula2019-11-11T00:00:00Z
  • The weather did not cooperate on our weekend at the beach, but our group stayed cozily tucked up in Desiree's beach house. We made plenty of use of her well-stocked kitchen, and were happy to see loads of extra blankets on hand. The house was also just a ten minute drive from a couple of great little restaurants and bakeries in Bow. Thanks for a great stay!

Take advantage of my off season rates through March! Enjoy a secluded stay at Gaia Rising Farm on Guemes Island just a 5 min. ferry ride from Anacortes. Watch the farm animals graze outside the widow of this charming studio apt. that is attached to my unique solar powered home. Walk the woods and beaches.
Your host Sequoia is an artist/ designer who has a commitment to a low footprint lifestyle and permaculture principles and has started Gaia Rising Farm to address food security concerns.. The private apt. sits at the end of the house/ studio complex. It has a wood burning stove (not needed in summer months), an adobe floor, a compost toilet and is powered by the solar panels on the roof. Farm fresh organic produce will at times be available for purchase. Children or extra guests can be accommodated on cots or floor mats. We could also put up a tent in the summer months.
Guemes Island is very rural. Our farm is 25 acres. The view from Guemes "mountain" is spectacular and has a beautiful new trail. Anacortes forest lands (on the mainland side of the ferry) have a wonderful system of trails and the view from Mt.Erie is even more spectacular! Anacortes is also the gateway to the San Juan Islands with ferries leaving for the other islands and for Victoria, British Columbia.
  • Sequoia’s place was a nice, cozy getaway. All around very clean and accurate to the listing. Sequoia was very responsive and communicative whenever we had any questions. Would definitely recommended for a little getaway.

    Morgan2020-03-10T00:00:00Z
  • If you’re looking for a restful getaway, I’d highly recommend Sequoia’s place! My husband and our beagle enjoyed a quiet thanksgiving weekend here- we loved reading by the wood stove, exploring the island and cooking a couple good meals on the gas stove. If you don’t mind a compositing toilet, you’ll love the peacefulness that this gem of a place has to offer.

    Katie2019-11-30T00:00:00Z
  • We wish we could have stayed longer. My 13 year old niece freaked from the compost toilet but the experience was good for us all. City life can take a hike when you’re out here. It’s truly restful.

    Courtney2019-10-14T00:00:00Z
  • Great farm stay at a sustainable and comfortable spot. Minutes from the ferry. Sequoia had everything we needed ready for us. We really enjoyed our stay!

    Lisa2019-09-29T00:00:00Z
  • This place went beyond my expectations! The place was perfect for just the two of us-- with neighbors that were so kind and helpful. My car broke down on the island and the hospitality of those in the area was insane. Came together to fix my car, get us a ride over the ferry, and even made us muffins!! This island is a special place and I fully intend to return. THANK YOU.

    Lindsey2019-09-02T00:00:00Z
  • This place is as gorgeous as it looks in the photos, and as soul-filling as it sounds in the description. Sequoia has created a peaceful little oasis on her farm, and I can't recommend it enough! I had the pleasure of meeting Sequoia on my second evening there, and she generously let me tag along as she cared for the animals. The sheep are adorable and friendly, the turkeys are hilarious, and if you're lucky you might cross paths with her sweet calico cat. The living space itself is lovely; there's a full kitchen and bathroom (complete with compost toilet, much less intimidating than it sounds), a very comfortable bed, and beautiful surrounding views of the farm. On top of a truly wonderful stay, I left with renewed respect for the basic resources many of us take for granted. I felt rested and rejuvenated after only two nights, and I wish I could have stayed a lot longer.

    Cecily2019-08-25T00:00:00Z
  • Tranquil and lovely spot on Guemes Island. A short and easy ferry ride and then drive to Sequoias place, which is set in a small, cute farm. Accomodation was quiet and private. Fitted out with everything you need to take care of yourself as well as cook meals. Comfortable bed and we all slept so well in the silence of the island We walked up Guemes Mountain Trail - short but lovely. Spent time on the beaches which felt private with no one else around. And we enjoyed delicious craft beer and cookies in the evening sun at the village store. Perfect two days away from city life.

  • This place was a little gem and perfect for the quiet getaway weekend we needed. Sequoia was super accommodating to us all weekend! We told her we wanted to use her complimentary bikes and she went to change out her flat tire despite her daughter and granddaughter being there to visit her. We are super thankful for her also letting us use her charcoal grill and allowing us to visit and play with her sheep. There’s a little pond to row in circles around and it made my daughter so happy! We also had ice cream at the beach in front of the general store, we took a bike ride and made steaks outside on her grill, we picked a few figs and plums around the property and it was a good time overall. The place was clean and had a well stocked kitchen full of utensils. This was our third farm stay so we fully expected the whole septic system/liquids bucket situation. Guemes is a nice little quiet island and I agree with other reviews regarding the ferry - expect to miss a few ferries as it only carries 18-20 cars at a time. Thanks Sequoia for sharing your home with us and good luck with everything :)

Waterfront home Guest Wing with separate entrance, full bath, and large bedroom with Queen Size Murphy Bed which folds up for more space during the day. Kitchenette is great for light meals and the town of Edison is just 6 miles away with great dining options. Bring your bikes, kayaks and cameras for exploring. You will have space to park one car on the property.
Samish was truly an Island until the 30's when they connected it to the mainland. The little town of Edison is 6 miles away and Blau Oyster sells fresh and frozen shellfish on the island. The towns of LaConner, Burlington, Anacortes, Bellingham and Mount Vernon are all about a 30-minute drive.
  • Brand-new and an amazing view!! This vibrant private guest room is absolutely fantastic! It was easy to access through the private door and hallway, which are very close to the freshly-graveled parking spot (right next to the ocean). The small room is perfect for one or two people and the Murphy bed (very comfortable) and expandable table make for a great use of the space. Sitting at the table by the large sliding window, you are only about 30 yards from ocean – a real treat. The bathroom is surprisingly large and the shower has great water-pressure. The hosts were wonderfully-friendly, easy to communicate with, and overly-accommodating to my changing schedule. I fell asleep to the sound of the ocean waves rolling up on the shore; incredible! Just about a 10 minute drive to Bow to grab a nice dinner. This is a gem and I’ll be surprised if it isn’t booked all summer long!

A NW contemporary place on the south shore of Samish Island. Plenty of space to unpack and take in all the Salish Sea has to offer.
a bed and breakfast since 1984, redefined as a vacation stay on Samish Island. Tucked on the south shore, our place looks onto peaceful Alice Bay, saltwater tidal flats and the fields of the Skagit Valley. Perched on low bank waterfront, guests observe many species of waterfowl and raptors, including Bald Eagles, hawks and falcons. You'll stay in a contemporary place that is uncluttered, spacious and opens wide to the natural beauty of the northwest. A breezeway separates the guest quarters from the main house, establishing a sense of space. The summer kitchen is on the ground floor warmed by the southern exposure. A full glass wall offers a place to watch the ebb and flow of the tide. Just above the kitchen, you will stay in a spacious sleeping room. Classic poang chairs offer a seat to read. The queen size bed is fit with crisp high quality cottons to rest well. Step across the hall and freshen up in a private bath stocked with soaps and stacked with towels. Peak of the season, we pitch the Rainier tent directly on the saltwater bank. This heavy white walled canvas 8x10 tent sleeps two with all the best outdoor elements. If you're wanting a sleep outside, the cots are set, just bring your sleeping bags. Guests are welcome to paddle our boat on high tide or launch their own kayaks from the dock to explore the shorelines where the Samish River meets the bay and continues west to the San Juan Islands. Rural roads connect you to the small town of Edison with fine art galleries, local bakeries and some of the best dining in the northwest. All the while, Washington's scenic Chuckanut Drive offers coastal views and pristine hiking trails.
  • We had an amazing New Years on the Samish Sea! Julie and her husband were beyond accommodating. For example, I asked where we might get local oysters and instead they showed me their oyster traps and gave us several oysters - then gave us an expert lesson in shucking which included a technique we were not familiar with. The sea was beautiful both during the intense calm on New Year’s Day and during a storm on New Years Eve. My wife and I didn’t feel unsafe at all and we loved to look through the floor to ceiling windows at the waves. The kitchen is full and has everything one needs and is a lovely space. We would definitely come again when we can.

  • What a wonderful place. Spacious guest house, right on the water, quiet and private with amazing views. Julie is a fantastic host and an excellent communicator, and she pretty much has thought of everything; I felt right at home. Recommend!

    Joseph2019-12-28T00:00:00Z
  • My boyfriend and I stayed at Julie’s for a relaxing long weekend away from the hustle and bustle of Seattle and that’s exactly what we got. What a special place. It was peaceful, restful, and gorgeous. The views alone are worth a stay. Terry and Julie were incredibly hospitable and attentive, with great recommendations about what the surrounding area had to offer. Thank you for such a great stay!

    Ariel2019-12-01T00:00:00Z
  • I booked this place for my parents 35 wedding anniversary. They really enjoyed their stay. The only comment they had was to plan for the weather better.

    Jordan2019-09-28T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful location and accommodating and informative host! Simple, clean bedroom and very nice summer kitchen with expansive views. Great proximity to quaint small town shops, oyster farms and good hikes and kayaking / paddleboarding areas.

    Anthony2019-09-15T00:00:00Z
  • Thank you Julie and Terry for hosting us. We so enjoyed the wonderful place you call home!

    Colleen2019-08-18T00:00:00Z
  • This Airbnb has everything we needed plus more. The view is amazing and we spent our morning sipping coffee and watching bald eagles play in the air!

    Sonja2019-08-02T00:00:00Z
  • Julie and Terry are the best bnb hosts I had ever met. The place is bright and neat and it has a spectacular water view and even owns a private beach and deck. Julie and Terry let us row their boat and there were so many seals around us which was really fun! Julie even brought us jackets when it was cold in the early morning. It was an unforgettable three days in Alice Bay, we will definitely go back in the near future!

There are trails along the water and you are steps away from the beach. If you plan on grilling etc, get the groceries in advance because the nearest one is about 20 mins away. All in all, we highly recommend it!

    Tisha2019-10-21T00:00:00Z
  • What is a fantastic peaceful view right on the water. We loved looking at all the New Yorker covers in the bathroom. The small kitchen space was surprisingly workable because there is an electric frying pan. We made chicken and shrimp quesadillas. The town of Bow is very close by and absolutely adorable. It looks like most of the bakeries and restaurants are open only on the weekend in the off-season. We had a lovely dinner at Rhody. Drove up to Larrabee State Park and took an incredible hike up to fragrance lake. As the other reviews say make sure that you get your groceries before coming. The refrigerator is tiny and the freezer does not keep ice cream cold but its just fine for a weekend. The table shown in the picture has a clever design that opens out so that you can use the window banquette to seat 4 easily for dinner. It's great to have the enormous windows at the front of the house though it would be nice to have privacy shades on the left and right side. Excellent hosts! They even let us borrow some evoo.

    Albert2019-10-13T00:00:00Z
  • Incredible! The views and location absolutely cannot be beat, and Richard and Sue were some of the most thoughtful and gracious hosts we have had on air bnb. Local town of Edison is also adorable and fun to check out. If you are lucky enough to snag a stay here, you will be in for a treat!

Spent lots of time reading on the deck, walking low tide and sitting by the fire. Was everything we needed for a relaxing mini vacation. Richard and Sue are super welcoming and very helpful! Definitely recommend!

  • Great space for families. Not many ingredients in the kitchen, but plenty of pans and dishes for cooking. Friendly neighbors and a great view!

  • You can’t beat the location of this house. Layout and amenities were as described. We had a blast!

    Celia2019-12-08T00:00:00Z
  • The house and location are terrific. Check-in was effortless. Communication, when needed (which was seldom), was immediate. The kitchen is well equipped. My only caution would be to not expect convenient access to the water. The public beach is 1-1/2 miles away. That said, the house is great. The views are fantastic. The deck is spectacular but unfortunately it was too chilly in November to take advantage of it. Some nice shops, galleries and restaurants nearby in Edison. Perfect spot for a laid-back getaway.

    Frank2019-12-03T00:00:00Z

Built in 2003, the Flutter In nestles in among the historic buildings of downtown Edison. Each room looks out over the tidal waters of Edison Slough allowing you to enjoy magnificent views of the wetland, surrounding sky and bountiful bird life that “flutters in” to fish, hunt, or feed only a few feet from the house. Facing west, the sunsets are mesmerizing no matter the season.
At the Flutter In, Edison, Washington, one can experience a gestalt-like spirit of place that magically combines the physical landscape with a convivial, historic town to produce a cocktail of fun, rapture and attitude.
Hang out, hobnob with the locals, shop for one-of-a-kind items in neighboring boutiques and art galleries or simply curl up in front of the fire with a good book. If being more active suits your needs, climb onto your bicycle or into your kayak and enjoy access to the local scenery right from your front door. Walks along the beach and mountain hikes are only a short drive away.
  • What a great location and great spot for the area and for birds. Nice and spacious. Everything you needed. We went to the bakery every morning and love the little shops and galleries. The new brewery/oven fired pizza in town was a big plus too. Couldn't have been more perfect with the Chicken festival in town. Being right next to the slough with the birds to watch while sitting on the couch. Our second time and as good as the first. Thanks!!!!

    Holly2020-02-24T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful relaxing time at comfy Flutter In. Great views of the slough and many varieties of birds! The town is charming and has lots to offer. Toni Ann is a wonderful host!

    Silvia2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • What a lovely spot! The location could not be more convenient, the home was just as described, and Toni Ann event left out bird seed so we could enjoy the birds at the feeder while we had our morning coffee. We will definitely be back!

    Ian2020-01-12T00:00:00Z
  • This truly is a magical place. This was my second visit...and each time I find peace and new experiences. This sweet little home on the slough tucked into downtown Edison is a place to recharge and slow down.

    Mary2019-12-18T00:00:00Z
  • Such a charming and relaxing space, right in the center of beautiful Bow-Edison. We were instantly enchanted by the winter beauty outside the large picture window, the warm fireplace, and all the little touches that made Toni Ann's place feel like home.

    Luann2019-12-15T00:00:00Z
  • Great treasure in the heart of Edison. Cozy warm home within steps of Slough Food, Breadfarm bakery, and new Terramar Brewery. Stay here and make a whole weekend of it. You can drive up beautiful Chuckanut Drive to Bellingham but you might just stay in Edison the whole time. Great live music for dancing at The Edison Inn. Highly recommend!

    Janeal2019-12-08T00:00:00Z
  • Toni Ann is the consummate host and The Flutter Inn is unpretentiously perfect. And between the area restaurants, shops and birding out our window, what more could have asked for?

    Bill2019-12-02T00:00:00Z
  • This is a neat little place in a fantastic locale - we fell in love with Edison Slough - and with Edison itself. Warning: Monday and Tuesday visits there will be unbearably peaceful and quiet - most eateries in town are closed. That peace was exactly what we needed. Watching the birds at the feeder was all I wanted to do. Perfect.

This secluded home sits on 5 acres of forested land, with a west facing view of the San Juan Islands and the Olympic Mountains. The home was built in 2007 by Guemes Island contractor Matt Simons and was designed by Seattle architect Ariel Kemp. The home has one bedroom nestled into the woods, a spacious and private loft, and a comfortable fold-down couch near the wood stove. A large deck and raised balcony provide plenty of space to watch the sun set over the islands, water, and mountains. The house has a master bedroom with a queen bed, a loft with a double bed, and a fold down couch in the living area.
Guemes Island is a special place. It's less developed and more rustic than the other San Juan Islands.
  • Beautiful and serene. We slept in the loft, up in the trees, and read books and made fires. The place is clean, Matt is prompt in responding, and check-in was easy. Really, couldn't have been better - one of our favorite places we have ever stayed in ~10 years on airbnb.

  • We had a fabulous stay with our kids and grandkids at Island Bound. Perfect for 4 adults and 2 kids. I really can't say enough about all the special touches here; from the toys/books for the toddlers, to the robes for the adults to use in the incredible sauna, there isn't anything they haven't thought of. Plus, when we had an issue, they were quick to respond. Can't wait to stay here again!

    Marianne2020-02-24T00:00:00Z
  • Great view, great organization, well stocked. The island is fantastic to visit!

  • My husband and I stayed at the Long Bay Cabin for one night to celebrate our anniversary, and we loved it. The cottage is cozy, cute, and super comfortable, with every amenity provided. We appreciated Robert and Sophie's quick communication and tips for what to see on the island (including live music at the general store, which we enjoyed a lot).

  • It was a really lovely retreat. Everything was terrific! The house was very clean with lovely touches from our host. The view was phenomenal. We were just minutes away from the ocean. Even the Islanders were gracious and kind. We would definitely return this wonderful spot!

  • An experience like this one reminds me why I love air bnbs so much more than hotels. Every amenity was so thoughtful. Cozy and beautiful. We had tea and biscuits before hitting the sauna right outside! Truly a perfect stay.

  • Where should I start? There are way too many good positives of the Island Bound's place. The house itself was sparkling clean. No dusts, no hairs, etc... And there were more than enough dishes, pots, and pans that we could use to cook our meal. There were Sweden made washer and dryer. Deck had nice comfy chairs to rest while watching a beautiful scenery of the ocean. We were even provided with the binoculars and telescope for whale and star watching respectively. There were blankets next to the gas fireplace. Beds were super comfy and big enough for two. The host even left us a brand new toothbrush, along with toothpaste, floss and a tooth soft pick. Clearly, anyone who stayed here can see that the host of the place really put efforts in making every guest's stay comfortable and enjoyable. So many thoughtful touches here and there were visible. Swedish sauna located outside was very nice too. It looked like built very recently and thus it was super clean inside. Fresh scent of wood was present inside. It was heated by the actual furnace and not by electricity. We had to burn the wood inside the furnace which was very cool. The owner sent us a message upon our check in to make sure everything was ok and was very friendly and eager to help us. My companion had few horrifying experiences from the other AirBnB places but this lovely place was able to change their impressions on AirBnB from negative to positive one-- it was that good. Only regret we had was that we didn't stay longer. I am hesitant on leaving this review because I do not want this place to be popular. I want this place to remain as my hidden gem. However, it is better for excellent things to be shared with others and I wish that the others would have this outstanding experience that we had. I would love to return as soon as I can.

Staying in the 1100 sq ft Pioneer House is going back in time. Near the famous Skagit Flats, Blanchard Mountain and the Chuckanuts, Samish and Padilla Bays, and the historic town of Edison. Quality, simple. A clean, well lighted place. Private gardens.
This is a lovely old settler home situated in the island's interior with well-established gardens. It is comfortably furnished with one bedroom hosting a queen bed and two rooms with a single bed each. The house accommodates three adults or two adults and two children. It has a full kitchen (hand wash dishes) and a living room. Natural light floods into every room of the house. There is central heating as well as a wood-burning stove. The one small yet utilitarian bathroom has been fully renovated. Samish Island is tranquil and has many wonderful walks and bike rides along the neighborhood roads. You cannot see the water from the Pioneer House itself, although many of these walks have views of Puget Sound. There is one small public beach (rocky!) which is a 3-minute drive away. Larger public beaches are 15-20 minutes away at Padilla Bay State Park or Larrabee State Park. Hiking on nearby Blanchard Mountain or in Larrabee State Park is exceptional. The quaint town of Edison - a five-mile drive - offers good eating options. A few of these restaurants such as the popular Tweets are only open Friday - Sunday. There are other good restaurant choices open every day along Chuckanut Drive. We have a guide of local restaurants and hikes in the Pioneer House. The closest grocery store is 25 minutes away in Burlington, so guests should stock up on needed supplies before arriving.
Samish Island is a unique community on a drive-on island just south of Bellingham (30 minutes) and minutes from the communities of Bow-Edison. It lays in the quiet waters of Samish & Padilla Bays and is 1 hour from Vancouver, B.C.; 1.5 hours north of Seattle, and 30 minutes northeast of Anacortes. People come here for winter birding, biking on the Samish and Skagit Flats, hiking in the Chuckanuts, kayaking, the Tulip Festival, events in the picturesque town of La Conner (25 minutes), for crabbing and beach combing, for an eating extravaganza in Bow-Edison, or to launch an adventure into the North Cascades Mountains (1.5 hours).
  • 3rd time renter here! This has been a perfect rental for us when visiting the island. Quiet, functional and on a beautiful plot of land. The flowers all around the property are BEAUTIFUL. The bathroom updates feel modern and functional. Bookshelf full of fun reading for all ages. comfortable beds in every room. I feel lucky we booked early enough to have it for over a week! Thank you Drew, see you next year! 🤞

  • Fantastic host, really lovely location, perfect for our family. The Pioneer House is a special place; comfortable, quiet and a great base for exploring the Skagit Valley, Anacortes, and Bellingham areas. We loved the little town of Edison and exploring the local food trail. Drew is a delightful host!

  • It's lovely how the bright and open living space open onto a little garden. We saw and heard lots of birds.

  • The Pioneer House is a cozy three bedroom cottage on Samish Island. The beds are so comfortable with quilts and comforters. Fully equipped kitchen, washer and dryer, small grill barbecue, games, reading materials, outdoor seating. It’s perfect. Remember to grocery shop prior to arrival as the closest stores are about 1/2 hour away. Drew is a wonderful host, non-intrusive, welcoming. This is our go-to when visiting our daughter on the island.

  • This charming cottage is the perfect home base for exploring the Skagit and Whatcom area. It is in a quiet neighborhood only blocks from Samish Bay, which offers beautiful views of the stars and the lovely sounds and sights of a variety of birds each morning. The feel of the home is charming, homey, and comfortable, and the hosts provided a binder filled local attractions (especially food related - so many good places to eat in the area), area hikes, and other activities. Bed was comfy and the ample linens included cozy quilts that were the perfect accompaniment for curling up in the living room and reading.

  • We loved our peaceful stay in this cute, quiet house. We all slept great on the comfy beds and enjoyed relaxing in the beautiful yard. Our hosts were gracious and kind, the house was well set up with a nicely remodeled bathroom and nice towels. We felt right at home!

  • We had a great visit to Samish Island, and a comfortable 2 night stay at the Pioneer House. The house is full of interesting furniture including African, and I really enjoyed the the local and world travel and history books. Edison and the Padilla Bay Estuarine were highlights of our visit.

    Richard2019-04-21T00:00:00Z
  • This is a gem of a house with terrific hosts in a very special location. It is cozy, comfortable, warm and light. The bird-watching on the fields and marshes on the way out to the island was incredible- many species and up-close views of eagles and a huge eagle nest. Breakfast in the little town of Edison, nearby, was delicious, as was dinner in Bow, not far away. Gorgeous ocean views all around the area.

Our waterfront Smith & Vallee Guest House offers the unique experience of staying overnight in the bustling village of Edison, in scenic Skagit Valley. Enjoy a private entrance and deck with sweeping views of the San Juan Islands, a beautifully landscaped yard with fire pit, and direct slough-side access for your canoe or kayak. A perfect spot for cyclists, birders, creative retreaters, romantic get-aways, families, foodies, and road-trippers. Experience the charm!
This home was designed and curated as an extension of the creative venues of Smith & Vallee Gallery and Smith & Vallee Cabinet Makers, our sister businesses established in Edison. Original artworks from our gallery’s artists hang on the walls. All cabinetry and woodwork was custom designed and built in our neighboring woodshop. Add modern furnishings and lighting, a fully equipped kitchen ready for entertaining, an abundance of west-facing windows, and you’ve found an unforgettable vacation rental with breathtaking views. This home is one of four units on the property and is well equipped for families and small groups. Each of our three bedrooms offer privacy and respite [with wall-mounted tv’s] the bathrooms are spa-like sanctuaries, including a large soaking tub and custom tiled showers and heated floors; and the gathering spaces are open concept. The fenced yard creates a beautifully landscaped outdoor venue with waterfront vistas of the San Juan Islands. Inquire upon booking for fees associated with events and small weddings.
Edison, WA, is a tiny town in the Skagit Valley, surrounded by farmland, Samish Bay, and the foothills of the North Cascades. Edison truly is a bend in the road, flanked by the Edison Slough, a tidal waterway that leads boaters to Samish Bay. Bookended between Terramar Brewstillery and Smith & Vallee Gallery, our end of town is the place to be for beer, pizza and art. Your downstairs neighbor is a working artist with a printmaking and painting studio, sometimes offering printmaking workshops. The BreadFarm is open daily, the perfect stop for grabbing pastries and bread to go. Breakfast at Tweets, wine, spirits, sundries and delicious soups and sandwiches at Slough Food, lunch at Mariposas, two pubs and the Rhody Cafe just down the road for dinner leaves ample options for dining out. Perusing The Lucky Dumpster, Shop Curator and Hedgerow could take an entire afternoon!
  • This house is stunning, as is the setting. Mornings are full of birdsong and light on the slough. The art and gorgeous built-in cabinets and house design are exquisite and fodder for lots of fun conversation. Being close to sweet shops and restaurants is a great bonus. Very fun place for a weekend away!

  • What an amazing space!!! When we walked in we all about died, it was so beautiful. The views are sweeping and the rooms are absolutely stunning. We sat by the fire drinking wine and watched the sunset. We strolled into town and had a drink at the brewery and then headed to The Old Edison for some dinner and dancing. The band was awesome! In the morning we had the most delectable breakfast at Tweets, bought lots of wonderful treasures at Hedgerow, and I even purchased a gorgeous monograph print at the Smith & Vallee gallery and found out that it was actually printed in the basement of the guesthouse! All in all it was a perfect trip and exactly what we all needed. I will definitely be recommending the house to all of my friends and may be staying there again sooner than later. It was such a lovely experience!

  • I stayed at the Smith & Vallee Guest House with 2 other couples. We’re all parents of young kids who were able to find overnight babysitters. The guest house and the town of Edison was the perfect kids-free, relaxing weekend getaway. Smith & Vallee Guest House. 5/5 Rating. Absolutely stunning in so many ways. Every inch of the space exudes quality craftsmanship and thoughtfulness. The space just really invites you to relax and slow things down. Whether you’re sitting on the rocker and admiring the local artwork scattered throughout the space or on the deck admiring the picturesque view of the distant San Juan islands from afar, the space offers so many ways to decompress from the stress of work or just the hustle and bustle of life in the “big city”. Edison Town. 5/5 Rating. The town is an absolute foodie haven. In the just made up metric of yummy foods per square foot, I would put Edison up against any foodie mecca out there. Terramar Brewing (located right next to the guest house) served an amazing wood-fired pizza. Tweets (located as short walk across town) is a great brunch spot that should not be missed. I had a torta rustica that looked so good I dove right in before I had a chance to snap a pic for the Instagram feed. I didn’t get a chance to sample the food at the Old Edison Inn during this trip, but I hear the fried oysters there are world-famous. The most stressful part of the trip was choosing where to eat.

  • Andrea has created and built an unforgettable space with this 2nd and 3rd floor (an artists' studio occupies the first floor) apartment with all that you could hope for. Stylish, fun, clean, full of light and views of the slough and fields. A deck for drinking coffee in the morning and listening to the birds. Eagles, herons, teals, snow geese criss-crossing the sky. Large bedroom and private bath upstairs, two bedrooms + bath with huge tub downstairs. The place just oozed welcome, sit down, enjoy yourselves. Soothing color scheme. Quirky, delicious cafes and bakery within a block or two, which is about the size of the little town of Edison. Three adults: we were very happy there, lots of space; and I think parents and a couple kids would also work well too. Book it now, go -- leave the city behind and experience again the beauty of the Earth right out your door.

  • Located just off the main street in one of Washington's most charming small towns, Smith and Vallee's guest house is undoubtedly the best spot to absorb Bow Edison's relaxed pace, great food, and artful community. Design lovers, carpenters, and anybody else will find plenty to marvel at in here - From the custom cabinetry throughout, to the rounded motif continuous through the space. It's not one of the more inexpensive options on Airbnb, but it sleeps a good number of people, making this an accessible choice for a group of friends or a couple couples to spent some time in this little town. I've stayed in a lot of aibrnbs, traveling for work. This was maybe the most thoughtfully designed and attentively constructed that I've been to. The kitchen had everything we needed and more. I'll definitely be back!

  • We booked Andrea's place to ring in the New Year. The house is beautifully appointed, with many thoughtful touches, and stylish decor. We'd definitely recommend staying here!

No Cleaning Fee! Our Studio apartment is packed with charm. It will comfortably sleep two. You can see the San Juan's from our decks and you can easily walk to town to enjoy the wonderful restaurants and shops. Carpe diem!
Our cottage sits apart from our home so that guests will feel very comfortable coming and going as they please without worrying about noise. We have a carport and reserve that for our guests car. We are within walking distance of downtown Anacortes. We use quality linens and Turkish bath towels and wash cloth's. We pride ourselves on providing a very comfortable, enjoyable and interesting space. We do not serve breakfast but we are happy to place yogurt, bagels and cream cheese or something on that order for you, in the fridge. There is a small coffee maker and coffee supplies provided as well as bowls, silverware, etc. I bake most Wednesdays so if you are around on a Wednesday, you may get an extra treat...
Our neighborhood is very friendly. It is also unique in its diversity. We have very high end homes but we also have a food bank. I think most people would be charmed by our neighborhood. It is an old and historic part of Anacortes. Lots of great stories about it.
  • Beth’s place was so cute and cozy. It’s a perfect stay for two with a super comfy bed, thoughtful touches, and all the supplies. We stayed warm and comfortable all through the night and enjoyed every minute of our stay. Great location as well, walkable to view points and town.

  • Whimsey House, Beth, the property, and everything else will exceed expectations (and our expectations were already pretty high based on the listing!). This is one of the most charming AirBnB’s I can imagine. Our stay was so comfortable and just all around fantastic. We would stay again for sure and recommend to anyone looking for a nice, cozy, beautiful spot in the Anacortes area.

  • I loved this whimsy home! There were so many touches that made my stay comfortable and relaxing. You'll likely see deer wandering around the neighborhood...so cute! I will recommend this home to anyone visiting Washington.

  • Don’t hesitate. This space is a gem and so is Beth and her husband. Thoughtful touches everywhere. Anything you might need from a sewing kit to a shower cap... it’s available. (No food items provided, just grill, propane, spatula, tongs, picnic sized smaller plates, and basic silverware for 4. Please bring anything else you might need.) For extended stays, access can be arranged to a larger fridge as well as washer and dryer.
Gorgeous and relaxed mostly private island. Walking paths nearby (across the street from the house) as well as hiking and world class mountain biking in the nearby vicinity.
  • Terrific spot on Samish Island. Amazing wildlife - lost track of how many bald eagles I saw in a morning walk. Hosts are very responsive - everything was easy and exactly as described. Will definitely come back.

  • This place is really fantastic. Beautiful location and a nice 2 bedroom with all the amenities you need. The owners definitely put in a lot of time to make sure you would have everything required to enjoy your stay there, from a bbq kit to extra bedding to fans and more. Every cabinet I opened had another surprise of things we could use if we needed on our trip. Very thoughtful all around and well-stocked. Miles and Monika were very responsive and helpful. When we took the kids out on their front deck facing the water, talking to Miles felt like we were visiting an old friend. He gave insight on things to do, places to eat, and even offered advice on how to dig up some clams if we wanted. A pretty cool experience all around.

  • Great spot right on the water on Samish Bay. Thoughtful and well appointed suite with large bathroom and comfy beds. Clear that monika and miles put a lot of care into the property and it was the cleanest Airbnb that we have ever stayed in. Good to note that there is no proper kitchen/dish sink, but we had fun on the waterfront patio and would have loved to have had more time to take advantage of the grill and wood burning fireplace/stove. Their host, Jill, was friendly and welcoming, and check in was stress-free.

    Elaine2019-08-18T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful and relaxing place to unwind. Quite remote and away from any restaurants or shops. We loved sitting outside watching the ocean and breathing in the ocean breeze.
