Castle Grounds House is a family home quietly located down a private lane, overlooking the Castle Grounds and within a minute's walk of the Market Place. This is a spacious double room with en suite bathroom with handheld shower, Wifi, tv and Tea/coffee facilities and trouser press.
A large, King Sized bed with proper feather pillows, and crisp cotton bedlinen await you. The room has an en suite bathroom with a bath and hand held shower. With an eclectic mix of furniture the room is a good size and very comfortable - we have tried to provide all the bits and pieces you may require for your stay including a hair dryer and an assortment of basic toiletries. Despite being a stone's throw from the Market Place, we are located on the escarpment overlooking the valley to the south and so you can expect a peaceful night with only the birdsong to disturb you in the morning.
Our home is a minute's walk from Devizes Market Place, and yet it is tucked away from the bustle of the High Street at the end of a quiet lane overlooking the Castle Grounds. There are many and varied restaurants and pubs within walking distance, as well as a cinema. There are good bus connections to train stations as well as to local attractions such as Avebury, Stone Henge, Marlborough, Bath etc.

A large double room, light and airy and very close to Kennet and Avon canal. It has a modern en-suite shower room with sink and toilet. Crisp cotton sheets. USB charging points. A help yourself continental breakfast is included. Perfect for the canal and a 15 min walk to centre of town. We have lived in the area for many years and have information on local walks, pubs, places: Bath, Salisbury, Avebury, Stonehenge and Lacock. Devizes is a lovely market town with much to see. Great for couples.
Best for one or two people, although we could accommodate one other person on the sofabed in the lounge downstairs. There is a toilet and sink downstairs too.
We live right at the top of the famous flight of locks on the Kennet and Avon canal. Stunning views, wonderful walks and wildlife right on the doorstep. A 15 minute walk along the towpath and you are in Devizes, a charming market town with two independent breweries, many lovely cafes, pubs and places to eat. There is a cinema here, as well as regular music events, and various arts festivals.
  • Hilary's place was ideal for our weekend away especially with the canal so close. Our hosts were friendly and helpful, providing everything you needed in the room and their kitchen. We liked the booklet of walks, places to eat and local info - would definitely recommend.

    Clare2020-03-15T00:00:00Z
  • It was so good last time i stayed it was a no brainer to returm again. Would recommend to all

    Saladin2020-03-05T00:00:00Z
  • Hilary made us feel most welcome and looked after us so well even lending us some reading glasses when we misplaced ours! We hope to visit again, and walk the canal next time when the weather will hopefully be better.

    Geoff2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • A friendly Hostess who welcomes you to her warm and colourful home in a spectacular setting.

    Valerie2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • Hilary's place : Great accommodation, large bedroom and bed, very nice ensuite bathroom. Used the kitchen for a meal and dining table for meals. I found Hilary and her partner very friendly and, accommodating. I would highly recommend this place.

    Saladin2020-02-06T00:00:00Z
  • Hilary’s place is so well located, just steps from the canal which was perfect for our short walking holiday! The room is comfortable and clean with lovely toiletries in the en-suite and soft fluffy towels. A kettle and tea in the bedroom was a nice touch. Breakfast was delicious and we found the whole stay very enjoyable.

    Kate2020-02-02T00:00:00Z
  • We had a lovely one night stay at Hilary's place. The room with en-suite was very cozy, warm and spotless. There were plenty of free-parking space in the street although Hilary kindly parked her car in front of the house to save us a spot in case there would be too many cars and no more space available. She was also communicative and available before and during our stay and she provided all the useful information to get to her place. We felt very welcome into her home. And she also kindly offered us some breakfast options that met our diets which we thought was very thoughtful of her. Finally the location is great, we didn't know Devizes and the locks that are literally out of the front door. This was really an interesting sight and walk. Highly recommended place to stay.

A separate annexe on the outskirts of the lovely village of Bromham, close to the market town of Devizes. A relaxing, light and comfortable retreat with stunning views across Roundway Hill and well situated for Avebury, Lacock, Caen Hill Locks, Bath and other historic sites. We produce our own apple juice and award-winning cider and guests are welcome to visitor our orchard and the Cider Shed to see our unique cider press made by a local craftsman from a Roundway Hill oak.
Accommodation consists of a well-equipped kitchen, bathroom with shower and stairs up to open plan living/sleeping area. There is free wi-fi and a smart TV. On request, the sofa bed can be made up to provide twin accommodation or a bed for a child. A welcome tray is provided for all guests that includes our own apple juice produced on site. We have a premises licence and so guests can sample and purchase our award-winning ciders.
Rural Wiltshire has plenty of walking and historic sites to visit. We are within easy reach by car of Stonehenge and the closer site of Avebury. Wiltshire is famous for its white horses carved into the chalkstone hills. We are also well situated for access to Bath, Salisbury and Marlborough. The National Trust village of Lacock and Castle Combe are also favourites with our visitors. Our local pub, now called The Hevali, is an Indian Restaurant and only a few minutes walk away; the reviews for the food and service are very good. We recommend The Westbrook (great food and they sell our own Shed Cider) and also The Greyhound in the village. There are other places to eat in the surrounding villages or more choice further afield in the nearby towns - a 10 or 15 min car journey. Walking and Cycling in the area is excellent - we are happy to make recommendations.
  • We were only staying for one night, but the Annexe is very well-equipped for people staying longer with a fully functioning kitchen, and a lovely upstairs with bed and living room with a great view. Karen gave us a lovely warm welcome and we really appreciated the extra touches such as the farm’s own apple juice and fresh fruit and flowers. Thank you!

    Katrina2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • From the moment we arrived Karen was warm and welcoming, the space was really clean and fresh. The MAIN POINT here is that Roger brews his own cider which is extremely good stuff, and available at a reasonable price!

    Oliver2020-02-02T00:00:00Z
  • Excellent in every way. Very high standard of facilities and lovely extra touches. Very well equipped, very comfortable and lovely location. We are hoping to come back in the summer Karen and Roger are certainly super hosts, we highly recommend them and their lovely annex, Date of stay 20-23 jan 2020

    Debby2020-01-23T00:00:00Z
  • What a beautiful annex. We were greeted by Karen who was lovely and friendly and really informative. The whole stay was beautiful and the annex is stylish and well put together. Lots of lovely little touches, breakfast pastries, hand lotions, apple juice and many more things. Great place!

    Stacey2020-01-01T00:00:00Z
  • We had a lovely time staying at the annexe. It is well located for Avebury, Silbury Hill, Imber and Lacock Abbey all of which were fab places to visit. Karen was a great host, providing breakfast including gorgeous home made strawberry jam. Highly recommended.

    Polly2019-12-30T00:00:00Z
  • It was stellar in every way!!

    Benita2019-10-20T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely hosts and great location. The Annexe is very attractive, comfortable, and well supplied with everything you might need. There were lots of lovely towels and tea-towels. We thought that the bathroom being downstairs might be a bit of an issue but it was fine. Very spacious with lots of room for our things. There was great lighting in The Annexe as well - you had the option of low, atmospheric light but really strong lighting when you needed it, especially in the bathroom. This is something we have found an issue elsewhere. We also loved the cider. It was great to be able to see the process of making and we enjoyed the drinking. We'll be back!

    Graham2019-10-12T00:00:00Z

Enjoy the tranquility of this charming country retreat on the outskirts of Rowde. Set in its own little orchard, this self contained annex is just a stone’s throw away from the Kennet and Avon Canal and within easy reach of the pretty market town of Devizes. Lovingly converted in 2019, the Orchard Retreat offers high standard living accommodation for up to 4 people with all mod cons and a warm, welcoming feel – not least thanks to its beautiful décor and cosy underfloor heating throughout.
The Orchard Retreat has a cosy double bedroom with a comfortable double bed which boasts a pocket sprung mattress topped with memory foam – giving amazing levels of support and comfort. The sofa in the sitting room can easily be converted into a comfy double bed – thus giving the option of accommodating two further guests. The open plan kitchen & living room is a beautiful, airy, bright space with natural light streaming in by day through the fully glazed contemporary French style sliding patio doors which look out onto the patio and orchard and the two velux windows in the roof can be remotely controlled to allow just the right amount of fresh air into the room. The generously sized fully fitted kitchen with breakfast bar is well equipped and offers everything you may want for a self catering holiday: high quality Neff gas hob and oven with extraction unit over, fridge with freezer compartment, dishwasher, washing machine, Nespresso coffee maker complete with starter pods, kettle and toaster – and the breakfast bar can double as a laptop friendly workspace. The living room area seats 4 people and whether you just fancy looking out onto the orchard, relaxing over a glass of wine, reading a book or you like to switch off watching TV (a smart tv) or surfing the web on our free, unrestricted Wifi, you can be sure that nothing but possibly a few cheeky squirrels or some deer looking for the orchard fruit will disturb your peace. On sunny days you can sit outside on the patio or under the trees in the orchard where you may find our free range hens rooting around. Beyond the orchard, through an opening in the hedge, you can see a paddock where our horse can often be found grazing - fenced in by an electric tape fence. A fully tiled, spacious, modern wetroom with power shower, low level WC and heated towel rail completes the Orchard Retreat perfectly and, of course, you will find soap, shampoo, nice soft towels and a hairdryer at your disposal to make your entire stay as enjoyable, easy and comfortable as possible. The Orchard Retreat has its own private entrance and 2 private parking spaces (more can be arranged on request).
This location offers the best of both worlds: a peaceful countryside setting with lots of great walks and cycling routes at its doorstep, starting with the world-famous Caen Hill Locks of the Kennet and Avon Canal just a minute’s walk away (which is also a much visited spot by fishermen) and it is also within direct reach of great road links to visit and explore the great historic and prehistoric sites, National Trust villages and famous towns and cities of the area. There is nearby Lacock with its famous Abbey where some of the iconic Harry Potter scenes were filmed, Bowood House and Gardens, Avebury and Marlborough. Furthermore, there is Stonehenge, located on Salisbury Plain, about 16 miles south of Devizes and a further 8 miles south of Stonehenge is the medieval cathedral city of Salisbury. The Roman city of Bath, Longleat, Stourhead and the Cotswold Water Park are also not further than a 40 to 50 minute car journey away. As Wiltshire is famous for its White Horses carved into the chalkstone hills, why not visit the nearby Pewsey or Westbury White Horse – or for that matter – make it your mission to see them all during your stay! As we are situated just outside the village of Rowde you can walk to our award winning local village pub, the George and Dragon, via a pretty footpath which partly leads through the picturesque Caen Hill Diamond Jubilee Wood which borders the Caen Hill Locks. It is only a 10 to 15 minute stroll into the village. The Rowdey Cow, a farm café and ice cream parlour set in the middle of farm land overlooking beautiful countryside, can also be reached within 20 minutes on foot via the Jubilee Wood walk and along the edge of fields (or via the main road if preferred). It serves delicious breakfast, lunch and lots of home made cakes as well as home made Italian ice cream. Devizes and the surrounding local villages offer more places to eat. Just ask us for recommendations!
  • Thanks so much for your hospitality Suzi and John. You guys were amazing. Lottie definitely made our trip, she’s so cute! We will definitely be visiting again. It was spotless, spacious and felt just like home xx

  • A perfect place for a relaxing break away. Suzi is the perfect host and Orchard Retreat is very stylish and comfortable. We had a lovely stay.

    Kelly2020-02-22T00:00:00Z
  • The Orchard Retreat was everything we hoped for and more! We stayed here for an anniversary due to the fact we both love the area and it was convenient for work my boyfriend had. The Retreat was clean, well styled and had everything we needed over the weekend. Suzi herself was a great help to the weekend and we couldn’t ask for a better host! We will hopefully be returning at some point!

    Sarah2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • Great location, lovely place to stay

    Tessa2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • We really enjoyed our month stay at orchard retreat while we looked for houses and jobs in the area. The place itself is a very comfortable, modern space. Well equipped with modern facilities to self cater. The underfloor heating was a luxury. Everything was very clean, thoughtfully furnished and the hosts caring and attentive. The place is set in a very quiet area behind the main house. It is well located, being walkable distance to the village centre and the town of Devizes. If I didn't now live in the area I would certainly stay again. I thoroughly recommend this place.

  • The cabin is a nice and cosy place, very close to a local Pub but without the noise you would expect, being also very close to the main road (which is good if you plan to visit places nearby). The canal is a great place for a healthy morning walk. In the cabin you'll find all the facilities you might need even for a long stay. Malcolm is a great host, descreet but present in case of need.

  • The Wee Croft is small but perfectly formed. We had everything we needed for a NYE and Birthday trip away. The furnishings are modern country cottage style. The accommodation was clean and in a great location to walk into town/the canal tow path for walks. Devizes is a friendly town, relaxed on NYE with free entry to many venues and with so many pubs to choose from, you won’t have to queue to get in or at the bar! Great time had by all. Will recommend to family and friends. Thank you for having us Katie and Neil.

    Holly2020-01-02T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely barn conversion right next to walks by the canal and a short walk from nearby pubs and restaurants. Comfy bed and a very well equipped kitchen, we could have easily stayed a week!

What's great here is we're on Salisbury Plains so if you intend to enjoy a weekend walking, biking, off roading or picnicking this is the perfect location. We can securely store bikes or motorbikes. We have a large social garden with bbq and tree lined views. We're walking distance to the village pub and have a double rosette restaurant and microbrewery 5mins drive/30mins walk away (three daggers). We're 20mins drive from Stonehenge, 10mins drive from Westbury which has a mainline station.
We're in a village location, the kitchen diner is large and newly installed, plenty of parking. We also have an on site yoga studio from which yoga lessons are given to the public so you can take advantage of these if you wish. We also have a jacuzzi-bath in the guest bathroom...always fun and relaxing after a days site seeing or working.
  • Anthony and Claire are two great hosts. The room and bathroom are clean and wonderfully decorated. We felt very comfortable and can only recommend a stay :)

    Vivian2020-02-29T00:00:00Z
  • Spotless room in a very nice home!!! Didn't meet Anthony, but his wife Clare is very welcoming and friendly. Nice jacuzzi in private bathroom where you can relax after your day. Very comfy bed and quiet location. Highly recommended.

  • Excellent stop over. Really welcoming and friendly. Large home - amazing bath/shower etc. Two Fabulous, large well behaved quiet dogs. We will defiantly stop by again. Great pubs & restaurant really close too.

  • Large & lovely home; gracious hospitality; large friendly, quiet dogs; quiet neighborhood, very handy to Westbury

    S2019-08-29T00:00:00Z
  • We enjoyed our stay here so much! The house itself is spacious, beautiful and clean. Our room was very nice, the bed was super comfy and we had a great bathroom (with jacuzzi!). We loved the surroundings and the village itself as well. The Bell Inn pub was only a 5 minute walk and we enjoyed our dinner in a real English pub. Anthony and Clare are super friendly and nice. We wanted to go to London and didn't know where to park the car, so they helped us by picking out a spot outside London with a car park and showed us how to get the train to London. We will for sure come back to stay a little bit longer :)next time!! And we miss the dogs already :)

    Kimberly2019-08-22T00:00:00Z
  • I was happy to stay in the place where everything is thought about and we could have a nice rest after all day of sightseeing. Anthony and Clare are taken great care that our rest were nice.

    Vaidotas2019-08-20T00:00:00Z
  • So nice and lovely place and hosts! Clare and Anthony had special intentions to me by helping to find the place, share a place in the garage for the motorcycle and give advices for the places to visit! You can't wait for a best place ! Between Bath and Stonehenge, the country side is beautiful, the house is awesome: beautiful, clean, warm, with all equipments and well situated. I have appreciated talking with the hosts, I recommend this place and I will recommend it when I'll be back in France. Thanks for all.

  • Such a beautiful flat in a lovely location. Richard was extremely responsive and helpful in providing directions. A perfect spot for a quick break away from the city. Richard’s mother met us upon our arrival and suggested some sights for us to visit. Richard’s father was ever so kind and even gave us a lift into Devizes after suggesting we walk along the Locks. Would absolutely stay again. Thank you so much for having us!

    Daisy2020-01-01T00:00:00Z
  • A lovely flat in an old building, basic but comfortable and everything we needed for our stay. Made to feel very welcome by the hosts.

  • Lovely and welcoming hosts that are keen to ensure you enjoy your stay, in their clean, spacious and comfortable well equipped flat, that is perfect for a couple looking to stay in great part of Wiltshire. The beautiful market town of Devizes is only a short distance up the road with plenty of shops and sites to see including, the famous canal and Caan Hill locks. The location is surrounded by fabulous countryside and stunning Wiltshire villages with many very good eating places to enjoy dining out. Highly recommended, we loved it and would love the opportunity to stay again.

  • The flat is excellent with all amenities in a central location for the village of Rowde . The hosts family are welcoming and really helpful. We would recommend this property to all , it has character and quintessentially English.

    Jacqueline2019-06-23T00:00:00Z
  • A really lovely place surrounded by the most beautiful countryside. Could see horses and pheasants from our window. Flat is located just by hosts but with private entrance so we had total privacy and we had the friendliest hosts who showed our little boy their chickens . Great facilities everything you need and very comfortable. A memorable experience we thoroughly recommend. Beautiful things to see in the area like Hungerford castle. Long leat isn't far either. The perfect weekend break

    Lucie2019-05-06T00:00:00Z
  • A beautiful property in a beautiful part of the country. Well appointed and very comfortable. Thank you very much.

    Helen2019-05-04T00:00:00Z
  • Very peaceful and relaxing apartment in a good location; with nice walks, pubs, and cafes in the area. Hosts were really friendly and helpful.

    Chris2019-04-29T00:00:00Z
  • My husband and I stayed here for a weekend away from the madness of London and as a base to travel into Bath for a day. Richard sent us instructions for how to find the house and also responded incredibly quickly to all of our messages which made everything so easy to plan! The location was perfect - a half hour drive from Bath and in the beautiful setting of Rowde, surrounded by rolling fields and still very close to a couple of local pub options serving food. We chose to stay in and eat within the apartment and the kitchen facilities offered everything we needed. The space within the apartment is great - it genuinely is a full apartment. One of my concerns whenever I stay anywhere is that I might be cold so I always bring extra layers however this wasn’t necessary at all as the apartment is so cosy and warm i simply didn’t need them. Overall it was an absolutely lovely stay in a perfectly peaceful setting!

Hi, This is our first full year renting out this lovely quiet and well equipped home. We decided to keep the price low, as we would rather have lots of lovely guests, than have our beautiful home empty. We have tried to think of your every need and if we have missed anything, please let us know, we welcome your input. My sister took particular time and effort decorating the house and laying every brick herself until it was to her satisfaction. My niece Kim keeps it clean and welcoming!
The decor is light and airy. Every room has been recently updated with new paint, carpet and beds. The Kitchen is light and bright and a true pleasure to cook in or to just sit at the dining table and chat. The living room, bedrooms and bathroom can all be easily accessed by a wheel chair or walker. All the beds are new and have duvets.
This is on a quiet well-established small housing estate. Situated on a corner with a beautifully landscaped garden. The Patio is quiet and secluded with a fire pit, barbecue, seating and umbrella. The back gate has been modified so that pets cannot get out.
  • Lovely home from home. Great amenities and thoughtful extra touches. Great wifi, lots of board games and DVDs in the house. Thanks for a lovely stay!

    Laura2020-03-08T00:00:00Z

Thank you for taking time to discover more about The Tiny Barn, a self-contained studio set in rural Wiltshire. The Tiny Barn is newly refurbished and believed to have been built originally as a gardener’s bothy and store. The Tiny Barn is a cosy, open plan studio with ample natural light and high quality finishes and fittings making this a comfortable and perfect location for couples or a single traveller to enjoy what Wiltshire has to offer.
The Tiny Barn has a kitchenette with a two ring hob, built in larder fridge and a combination microwave (includes grill and convection). There is a gas-fired combi boiler providing heating and hot water. The TV is a ‘smart’ TV. The WiFi is dedicated to The Tiny Barn and has no data restriction. There is a dual USB charging socket. Complimentary tea and coffee is provided as well as bathroom toiletries. One side of the full size double bed is against a wall. There is a separate WC with basin. The compact shower, approximately 600mm square, is tucked away round a corner and is open to the studio’s sleeping and living areas. Parking is located immediately outside the studio. The Tiny Barn does not have its own dedicated/private outside space but there is a bench to relax on from where to enjoy the surroundings and the wonderful view.
Studley is a small hamlet with stunning views over rural Wiltshire. There are three pubs/restaurants locally, all walking distance. Bowood House, the stately home with Capability Brown-designed grounds and also with hotel/spa and golf club, is very close, either by a short drive or a longer walk. The Sustrans NCR4 is a short walk or cycle ride away. Avebury and Lacock are a short drive away. Bath is quite close, easy to drive or a 11 minute train journey from Chippenham.
  • The little barn is a lovely comfy clean space. Very nice location and well furnished. Exactly as described thank you very much

    Brett2020-03-15T00:00:00Z
  • A really lovely place. It doesn't feel small inside and has everything you could need. Really quite, private and lots of little touches that make it even nicer! If you are a bigger person, the shower cubicle might be a bit tricky as it is quite small. Other than that, gorgeous!

    Abigail2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • Great communication with local advice as booked at the last minute. The barn was a great space, extremely quiet, clean and comfortable and was a great location for Bath and the surrounding areas. Great value for money and would stay again if in the area.

    Dean2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • Tiny but awesome! The owners have managed to pack all the amenities you could need for a comfortable stay in a small footprint. The space was immaculately presented, and precisely as described. The communications with Nicky & Mark were very quick, and they were extremely accommodating. Very highly recommended.

    Paul2020-02-21T00:00:00Z
  • What a beautiful tiny house to stay in! The Tiny Barn is nestled in the countryside with stunning views over the fields. Despite its small size, the Tiny Barn has all the mod cons anyone would need for a short stay. It was perfect for our work trip with only a 10 min drive to Calne. I would recommend staying here. Also the local Nepalese/Indian restaurant is fantastic!

    Pilyn2020-02-19T00:00:00Z
  • The 'Tiny Barn' with a big heart. We arrived during storm 'Ciara' and the barn was thankfully warm and cosy. The Barn has a well equipped kitchenette with a large fridge. The decor is beautifully done. The bed is very comfortable, comfy lounge chairs and a great place to eat overlooking the pretty countryside. The Barn was sparkling clean and had everything you needed. Nicky & Mark were great hosts, their communication was instant, they were discreet but there if you needed them. We would certainly recommend this property and would love to stay here again.

    Sarah2020-02-13T00:00:00Z
  • This will be a long but necessary review. As the first guest to experience The Tiny Barn, I feel I should give details for future guests to know exactly what's in store especially when it comes to the size. Understand, this lives up to its name. Therefore, space is limited. I'm 5'2" and everything fit perfectly for me. If you are taller and require a ton of space, do not book, then complain. Be well aware there is a 10 minute walk to the closest bus stop. If you want seclusion, this is definitely it! Those are NOT negatives, just things to be cognizant of before your visit...otherwise...everything was/is immaculate! I wanted a week away from the city and was provided an excellent country tiny cabin. The bed was comfortable, had every amenity needed and great wifi service! Nicky answered any question I had and was available when needed. I was able to cook meals, store food in the fridge and use Netflix effortlessly. If you want a beautiful secluded retreat, this is your place! Not a sound and meters and meters of gorgeous country. Would definitely return!

  • This is a very acceptable place . You should read the details so you do not have unrealistic expectations.

  • Great spot in stunning Bishop's Cannings, right by the church- which was perfect as I was attending a wedding there. The room and private bathroom were equipped with everything you could possibly need. Much nicer than the photos in my opinion and I had a lovely night's sleep in the double bed. Would definitely stay again if visiting the area for work or pleasure.

  • Had a great stay at John and Avrils. The room was very cozy with really comfy beds and coffees and teas in the room. We would love to return when we are next in the area and would recommend staying here to anyone looking for a place to stay nearby. Thanks again.

  • What a wonderful find , great communication before we arrived , excellent directions so easy to locate ,made even better by the amazing moon as we drove into the village. Lots of local knowledge if you want it and information in the room.Private parking space and own bathroom ,cozy room with tea and coffee facilities. Spotlessly clean. John and Avril and Hector the dog were wonderful hosts and will definitely return when next in the area.

  • This was a perfect one night stay for us. The room was clean and comfortable and had everything we could need. John was friendly and welcoming. Would definitely recommend.

  • John and Avril’s place is marvellous for a stay anywhere near the historic tourists spots be it Stonehenge or Bath or Avebury etc. The house is idyllic and is accessible by public transport. The listing is wonderful and could accommodate upto 3 adults and a kid at ease. We were 3 adults who fit in comfortably. The listing is much more spacious than the actual pics which is quite a rare thing. The beds were tidy, comfortable and the room was stocked with books, toys etc. The toilet was spotlessly clean and stocked up with all the amenities. Furthermore the bathroom/ toilet was right beside the room and due to thoughtful sound proofing, the noises doesn’t get transmitted. The house in itself was very clean. The hosts were kind enough to leave us some chocolates and other coffee/ tea making amenities. More than anything, John and Avril were wonderful humans who were kind and ensured our comfort throughout the stay. They also helped us with local tips and it was our pleasure to get to know them. Their pet is absolutely lovely and one of the most well mannered one. I would totally recommend their listing for any type of stay - couples, friends or family.

  • This was a great escape! The quintessential local English expérience with a warm and welcoming couple and their sweet dog. They made us feel comfortable and well looked after while affording us privacy and even some complimentary goodies. We'd definitely stay again if we're in the area. Thank you for a lovely, peaceful stay in your home, John and Avril! We hope to see you again sometime!

  • Very clean and tidy apartment with good host communication in a perfect location (15-30 min.) for seeing the famous sights of Wiltshire--from Lacock to Silbury Hill. Parking was easy and ample. A restaurant in walking distance, and a spectacular view to the valley and an ancient church. Do note, however, that there are other lodgers in bedrooms on the same floor and above, and that there are two cats that can be a bit noisy. Nevertheless, a great value in a unique and historic space.

  • We had an excellent time at Nigel and Olivia's place! It felt as if we would have a separate apartment rather than a room, so it is ideal for those who want privacy. On a day of arrival, we were provided with freshly baked bread, milk, orange juice, butter, and jam. We were also welcomed by their friendly pets (through the window). To be honest, it was one of our best stays so far.

Nestled in the back garden of our 15th Century Cottage in a rural village, at the end of a no-through road, guests are assured of a peaceful and quiet stay. Yet with Devizes just 3 miles away, you are close enough to enjoy the bustle of this Market Town and its many interesting Coffee Shops, Restaurants and Pubs. We are situated on the edge of the Pewsey Vale and within easy access of Bath, Salisbury, Stonehenge and Marlborough.
The Annex has a king size bed, an en suite shower and toilet, a small fridge, a microwave and tea and coffee facilities. Milk will be in the fridge as well as some homemade biscuits and bananas. As there is no separate kitchen and dish washing facilities are limited to the hand basin in the bathroom, we suggest that any crockery and cutlery used (especially if you are here for a few days) is left on the table outside. I will run it through my dishwasher and return it to you by the evening.
Etchilhampton is a small rural village. There is a Community Shop and a Pub in All Cannings which is two miles away. Devizes which is a Market Town is three miles away.

Stable Cottage is a cosy and comfortable detached thatched cottage, alongside a small brook and overlooking gardens and fields. The village has a traditional pub and local shop/post office within walking distance. The cottage is furnished and equipped to a very high standard. It is near the small market town of Devizes which has been described as a 'mini Bath' with its regular weekly market and good selection of independent shops and places to eat. Near Stonehenge, Avebury, Longleat, Bath.
You can enjoy staying in a traditional English thatched cottage - don't forget to look for the old hay loft door outside. The cottage has access directly onto the garden. A table and chairs are available to sit outside and enjoy the peace and quiet and the view over the stream and fields. A king fisher has sometimes been spotted by the stream!
The cottage is set in a English country lane but away from the road. The area is quiet and peaceful and the locals are friendly.

  • We stayed at The Stable Cottage for 5 nights while we played at a music festival at Cleeve House. The cottage was a wonderfully peaceful counterpoint to the buzz of the festival and just what we needed to relax afterwards. It is so cosy with everything you could possibly need. We particularly enjoyed the gardens it is set in, listening to the birds and the wee burn outside. Potterne is a very interesting village and it's very easy to get around the Devizes / Melksham area from there.

  • We really enjoyed staying in this modern, super clean studio accommodation. Everything you need to have a home from home stay. The accommodation was sufficiently warm throughout our stay even though the weather was horrible outside. Cooking facilities meant that we were able to have a cooked dinner using the new, barely used oven and hob. Felt like luxury but good value. Thanks so much.

Lovely touch of fresh baked bread and brownies. We were very happy with the accommodation. Definitely recommended x

  • This place is beautiful and worth more than there asking. The extras they gave us and the cleanliness of the place were better than a 4 star hotel. We will definitely return and recommend this place to others.

  • Fantastic stay, lovely location, very cosy room with all you need! The little touches added by the hosts made the stay so much nicer. Fresh bread that smells divine and delicious brownies to come back to after a day exploring Bath were so unexpected but very welcomed! Great communication and simple check in made this place very suitable!

  • Great stay - Julie and John were very communicative and helpful. It has gas central heating which was really helpful given how cold the weather was during my stay. Bromham is a quiet little village and incredibly dark at night - great for sleep deprived city-dwellers!

  • Maggie's place is a lovely little, cosy flat. It had everything we needed for a couple of nights and was in a great location to visit West Kennet long barrows, Swallowhead Spring and Avebury. We enjoyed the shortbread. Many thanks.

  • This was our second stay at Maggie's place, and it was a very comfortable stay too. We briefly saw Maggie upon check in, and then had to rush off to an event, but the studio was warm when we arrived, and there were little touches of milk and biscuits with the place being really clean. We had a good night's sleep again, and cannot thank Maggie enough for providing an excellent value for money airbnb!

  • A lovely loft apartment tucked away behind Maggie's house. We found that everything offered was present and in good condition. We would have loved to stay longer to explore the area. Clear directions were provided beforehand which was a real help. Would certainly recommend to others.
