Duntish Studio is a large, open, airy space with kitchenette and an en-suite shower room. Ideal for a couple or small family, with a kingsize bed, sofa bed, travel cot and a child's floor mattress. We are in an AONB close to the Jurassic coast and surrounded by stunning countryside perfect for walking holidays.
The Studio has own parking area in front of the house and independent access. The price per night includes 2 adults and children. We charge an extra £10 per additional adult per night. Please let us know if you need us to make up children's beds or the sofa bed. Optional cooked breakfast, using local sausages and bacon is available for £8.50 per person, served in the studio. Please check this is available when booking as we are occasionally away and therefore would not be able to cook for you. Tea and coffee, milk and sugar are left for you to help yourselves to. We also leave bread, butter, jam and cereals and if the hens are performing you may collect the odd fresh egg! Guests staying for more than a few nights are welcome to use our washing machine. We have a quiet, private unmanicured area at top of the garden for BBQ/campfire and sitting on a summer's evening. Families are welcome to share our garden space if children wish to use our trampoline, though obviously this is under parental supervision. A well behaved dog is welcome but please keep dogs off the furniture. Thanks.
Duntish is a hamlet bordering Buckland Newton, a short walk away. There you will find a shop, post office and play park. Our village pub has recently re-opened and is a great place for a drink or a meal and is approximately a mile away, either by road or a lovely walk across beautiful fields - see their website for more info: www.gaggleofgeese.co.uk Close by are charming pubs in Plush (The Brace of Pheasants), Cerne Abbas (3 options!) and several along the Piddle Valley. Dorchester and Sherborne are both less than 10 miles away with a range of shops, restaurants, museums and other things to see and do. Duntish is situated in a beautiful area with breathtaking scenery, from ridges with long views to beautiful chalk downland with thriving wildlife. A network of footpaths from our door allows you to explore the local area, and the Wessex Ridgeway can be joined approximately 2 miles from Duntish Studio. The Jurassic coast is just over half an hour away and offers a variety of bays and beaches and some lovely swimming spots. Purbeck is not far to the East, and Bridport and Lyme Regis are conveniently accessible to the West. Please ask if you would like any more local info!

  • Spacious, clean, all facilities you need.a lovely apartment, lovely natural light from 2 large dormer windows. Extremely comfy bed, well equipped kitchen.lovely touches...home baked Christmas biscuits, fresh eggs, fresh milk, cereals, jam, marmalade, all beautifully presented...even a touch of Christmas decorations and lights. George is a quick responder which makes it welcoming. As I was arriving when almost dark he kindly parked a bicycle against the roadside wall to ensure I didn’t drive past. Altogether lovely booking, great location, lots of local Ordnance Survey maps to browse. Sadly I could only stay one night....

  • Kim was fantastic. Very welcoming yet ensured I had plenty of privacy. The house is beautiful, and I had a room with access to the bathroom and her kitchen, which she had ensured was stocked with food and drink should I not have some myself. I had access to radiator controls in my room so I could set temperature to my liking, and she ensured I had extra blankets should I need as well. I couldn't recommend enough.

  • The annex is in a perfect location in a very beautiful part of dorset. We had a lovely stay. Pubs and a local shop very close by also great area for walking your dog.Caroline was the perfect host. Thank you

    Gill2019-04-22T00:00:00Z
  • The Annexe is bigger than it looks in the photos. We wanted somewhere to extend our holiday, and this seemed suitable for a few extra days away. Although comparatively basic, it's got everything needed for a short stay, including a very sensitive smoke alarm! The garden's secluded, and bathed in sunshine - great for an outdoors breakfast. The area's very pretty, with some interesting walks and villages around, and the local shop is only ten yards away for topping up supplies. Caroline's very bright, welcoming and friendly, arriving with all sorts of goodies for us. Had we not had to get home for a funeral, we'd have gladly stopped another couple of days.

    Brian & Sandy2018-07-18T00:00:00Z
  • We enjoyed our stay very much and would definitely visit again. The property is in a lovely quiet setting and Caroline is a friendly, welcoming host. The annexe is basic but clean and has everything you need for a short stay - except for a hairdryer or oven! A bonus is that our dog was very welcome!

    Alison2017-10-29T00:00:00Z
  • Caroline is a great host. Nothing is too much trouble, very friendly and caring. Caroline also left all you need for breakfast, milk, tea, coffee, juice, croissants, yoghurt, which was greatly appreciated. The property is in a good location and completely self contained, so you can come and go as you please. I would highly recommend Caroline's property and would definitely stay again.

    lynn2017-09-04T00:00:00Z
  • For the money everything was excellent, a quiet location, wifi, free access to roam, back garden, parking space, fully fitted annex with kitchen and a few items. Fruit trees, nearby walks, and a river. The place was clean, and as stated. Very generous and happy host.

    Richard2017-08-28T00:00:00Z
  • This is the second time we have stayed at Caroline's! Both times were great! Carolines very friendly and helpful- we will be back!:)

    Katie2017-08-25T00:00:00Z
  • Caroline was a lovely and welcoming host, and made our visit very enjoyable (for our two dogs as well as ourselves!). The flat was great, with a garden just outside where you could sit as well. Caroline made sure we had everything we needed whilst giving us privacy too. The only thing to comment on was that the sofa was uncomfortable; but once we'd put all the pillows on top it was ok. Altogether a lovely, self-sufficient base from which to explore Dorset, with an excellent Air bnb host.

    Anne2017-08-21T00:00:00Z

We are really excited about our new conversion. It's a lovely, light yet cosy open space with a well equipped kitchen, modern bathroom and a cool sleeping platform/mezzanine. Piddlehinton is a wonderful village, just 20 mins from the Jurassic Coast and 10 mins from Dorchester, in the renowned Piddle Valley, with the most beautiful walks, views and an award winning local pub. We're right next door if you need anything, but if you prefer your privacy, you are completely self contained.
This modern, airy, self contained living space has been lovingly converted by us, and we are proud to have had the help of our many wonderful local tradesmen and artisans! There is a a comfortable double bed upstairs on the mezzanine, with divan drawers for storage and space for luggage, whilst downstairs there is additional provision for a further 2 guests, if necessary, on our lovely new sofa bed. All linen is provided, including towels. Two wall heaters are plenty to keep you toasty, but if you want to get down and rustic, there is a brand new, fully tested and Co2 alarmed wood burner called Lydia! Hot water on tap... The modern bathroom has a great, Mira electric shower, a heated towel rail and has a “dressing room” off it, with hanging space, ironing board, drippy and a washing machine. The fully equipped kitchen comes complete with a dishwasher, cooker/hob, kettle, toaster and microwave as well as a small fridge freezer. If you need more freezer space, we have a chest freezer in our garage that you are more than welcome to use. All the basic kitchen bits and bobs, such as crockery, china, saucepans are provided for your use, but if you wish to be away from the kitchen, and prefer to eat out, there are so many good places to eat nearby, you'll be spoilt for choice! You have your own entrance, via a side gate, with a covered porch which provides a boot rack for the walkers amongst you, and this also leads to your own private outside garden area. A small sun trap – perfect for an early morning cup of coffee, or an evening cocktail! It provides a small table, chairs and a chiminea.
What can we say about Piddlehinton? It is truly a special village. friendly and beautifully Dorset. It has been our family home for 10 happy years. There are many things to do around the area - lovely walks, the most amazing pub and the County Town of Dorchester is only a ten minute drive away. Thomas Hardy's sister was the local school mistress here, so Hardy was a regular visitor to the village and school house. The village is steeped in history. There are lots of things going on in this vibrant community- a thriving village hall with regular activities and which can be hired out. It also boasts a beautiful 12th Century Church. The fabulous Thimble pub is 70 yards from the Yorkshireman (I know I've walked it more than once!) serving delicious food and a decent range of wine, beer and ciders The Millennium Green is a short stroll away and is a delightful place for children and families to enjoy by the banks of the River Piddle. There are many local footpaths to explore. Puddletown forest and Thorncombe Woods are 10 minutes drive away.  A little further afield, there are the popular resorts of Lyme Regis and the bustling, artisan Bridport. We have many varied beaches near us, ranging from quiet, undisturbed beaches such as Ringstead (14 miles), to the National Trust beauty of Studland ( 27 miles) with fun, family friendly Weymouth (14 miles) and the world famous Lulworth Cove in between! There really is a beach for everyone in Dorset, and we are no further than 1/2 hour from the very best of them!
  • We had a brilliant long weekend in this beautiful part of Dorset - Claire's place was perfect for what we were after; a quiet, outdoorsy weekend of coastal ramblings, pubs, a glass of red or two by the log burner and even fish & chips in the sun...unexpected for early March! The Yorkshireman is beautifully set-up for a couple's getaway - we ate out one night and cooked in the second as it's very equipped and we wanted a cosy night in. Although we didn't meet Claire in person, all communication was great and we felt very at home - and undisturbed! A perfect balance! Thank you for a great stay.

    Laetitia2020-03-09T00:00:00Z
  • The Yorkshireman was a fantastic place to stay, highly recommended. Very comfortable and really we could not think of anything that was missing. It lived up to to previous reviews and description. Very happy we hope to return at some point!

  • A wonderful space to use as a base for our weekend exploring Dorset. Being within 30 minutes to all the main spots. It had everything we needed (a great kitchen space, super comfy bed) and had thoughtful little touches too. Would love to head back in the future.

  • Amazing place with the perfect pub just a minutes walk away. Lovely wood burner, mezzanine bedroom was beautiful. Such a nice place for a break. One of the best finds on Airbnb

  • Absolutely gorgeous place Spotless, and with some very nice touches. Claire was very friendly, accommodating and gave some great local recommendations. We will definitely be back! We loved our stay.

    Chris2020-02-02T00:00:00Z
  • What a perfect home from home the Yorkshireman is. It’s a lovely space, stylish and modern, but very comfortable with thoughtful touches that made our stay very special. It’s located in a lovely little village with an amazing pub The Thimble Inn a short stroll away that shouldn’t be missed. It’s also ideally placed to visit all the wonderful sights Dorset has to offer like Durdle Door, Corfe Castle and Lulworth Cove.

    Zoe2020-01-19T00:00:00Z
  • Claire's place met all our expectations from the excellent reviews that we read before our stay. The space was very clean and Claire has all bases covered (coffee, milk, dishwasher tabs etc all provided). Piddlehinton is lovely and the pub over the road is excellent and does very good food. We had a great time walking, cycling and exploring the local area and would definitely recommend a stay in the Yorkshireman! Mark and Lisa

Tucked away on a no through road, that leads directly onto a bridleway and footpaths, Shepherd's cottage makes an ideal place to stay for those who simply want to get away from it all. Both dogs and horses are welcome - with a choice of fields to keep your horse in (please note the additional charge of £20 per night for horses).
The annexe is located in the hamlet of Henley, which is part of Buckland Newton. The local pub (The Gaggle of Geese) is an excellent pub in walking distance (10-15 minutes approx) and the local shop is a similar distance away. From just outside the property you can walk up onto the hills and over to Cerne Abbas- renowned for the Cerne Giant. Cerne Abbas is about an hour and a half's walk and has several superb pubs and a wonderful tea room that are perfect for refreshing you after a good long walk. Alternatively a walk over to 'Plush' is another great walking destination with 'The Brace Of Pheasants' -Dorset Dining Pub of the year 2017.
  • We adored our stay, the cottage is just so cute. Set in a stunning location with gorgeous views it is the perfect get away to really relax and recharge. The log burner and roll top bath we're just fabulous and the bed was super comfy. Thank you xx

  • David and Maria were so hospitable! Accommodating us at such short notice too. What a stunning place! Immaculate, incredibly comfortable, warm and cozy! We went for a walk and it was such a beautiful area! Fresh air, birds singing, wildlife aplenty. Our dogs absolutely loved it all especially the wood burner. We went around admiring all the craftsmanship all over the house, it’s all beautiful. All the amenities you need for a perfect getaway! Hopefully we can return very soon!

If you want to get out into the Dorset countryside it is all around you, with the option to walk to several pubs for food and drink should you be so inclined. The accommodation is comfortable and the breakfast really sets you up for the day.

cob and thatch cottage in the middle of a charming village in west Dorset. Walks in breathtaking open countryside from the doorstep, seaside outings to the Jurassic coast within 20 minutes and only a stones throw from the lovely market town of dorchester. Our home is lived in and lovely. Comprising a king sized bed room, en suite bathroom, a further king sized bedroom, a smaller double (4ft bed), a bunk bed and a wetroom downstairs. The kitchen is equipped with an aga, dining table seats 8 and the cosy living room has a log burner. Large garden, trampoline, hens.
The house is uniquely characterful. Parts of the house are 400 years old parts are newer. It is not pristine and holiday homey but it is clean, warm, comfortable, restful and loved. You can curl up in the armchairs, drinks tea by the aga in the morning, drink gin on the deck overlooking the rolling hills of the piddle valley while the kids bounce on the in ground trampoline. Watch frogs in the wild garden and feed our hens (optional on agreement) and collect eggs for your breakfast. It's quiet at night and everyone sleeps well here. The kitchen is equipped for cooks with only an aga to cook on, we'll leave you an aga book to help out.
The piddle valley is a lovely, friendly place. It has 3 pubs within walking distance, a village shop opposite the house and a lovely church. Our home is on the village road. It's quiet at night but be aware that it is a functional place with some but minimal hubbub. We love the walking in the area. The garden has a footpath connecting to fields with hours of walking available often without the need to even cross the road. Walks along the river piddle for lunch at the thimble are a must or even for the more intrepid, a walk to cerne Abbas to take in the famous giant on the hill and dine at the new inn. If you enjoy the coast, ringstead bay is our closest beach (20 mins drive) and is part of the Jurassic coast which is easily accessible from here and being a wee bit inland will remove you from the tourists. Weymouth, for a quintessential bit of bucket and spade including donkey rides, is 30 mins away. Heaps of family attractions can be reached from here, bovington tank museum, monkey world and weymouth sea life centre to name a few. For grown ups, Dorchester has a county museum, Maiden (Iron Age) castle and the famed national trust property hardy's cottage, birthplace of Thomas hardy which sits in glorious woodland. West Dorset has so much to offer and crown cottage puts you right at the heart of it all.
  • A lovely old cottage, very cosy. A very steep garden which was fantastic for our kids to explore, but not great if you arn't very mobile. A great location, with a few nice pubs in walking distance. A short drive to Dorchester, Weymouth, Portland and Cerne Abbas. Road side parking. Fresh eggs most days from the friendly hens!

    Jonny2019-08-14T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely perfect. We almost fell in love with the house.

    Kristen2019-08-01T00:00:00Z
  • This is a wonderful cottage with an incredible garden. We felt at home immediately, and the hosts were so responsive and welcoming. Our children couldn't get enough of the sunken trampoline or the chickens. Fabulous holiday, great location, would absolutely book again.

    Laura2019-07-26T00:00:00Z
  • We loved our stay at Amity's. She and her family have a beautiful cottage, traditional style so well looked after, really pretty, pictures don't do justice. We had everything that we need, the kitchen is fully equipped and beds super comfy. And a wonderful garden! Even though we didn't have much time to enjoy it as the location is so good that we spent most of the time exploring the area. It's only about half an hour from Durdle door and other beautiful places. We definitely recommend it and would love to go back. Thanks Amity&family!

    Ana2019-05-27T00:00:00Z
  • Firstly, a big thank you to Amity for being so welcoming and a fabulous host. Her Family’s cottage is a delightful retreat, packed with centuries old features and tastefully updated modern conveniences like the stone wet room and warming Aga. Our 3 boys enjoyed feeding and playing with the chickens immensely, as well as exploring the curious hillside garden. Crown Cottage will certainly be at the top of our list should we return to Dorset for a break.

    Rachel2018-08-19T00:00:00Z
  • Thanks for letting us stay in your beautiful house which is modern yet also quaint and we loved every bit of it. It was fully stocked in every way and we didnt need to bring any extra kitchen items. We had a fantastic stay and the location is fabulous with some excellent pubs very close by and within walking distance. The Thimble pub is definitely recommended and the best burgers we've ever had! The views from the garden seating area are breathtaking. The neighbour is lovely and friendly and we had s good chat about bikes! Not far from the beache either. its an old house with its quirks and also "their" house; so treat it delicately and it rewards with a cosy environment. Thanks for a really excellent and easy stay. can't wait to be back!

    Ashwini2018-08-14T00:00:00Z
  • We shared the house with another family and our children and it was the perfect place for people with Kids. There were toys, dressing-up, a trampoline, garden and the little one loved feeding the chickens and were thrilled to collect eggs. So much to do in this area, Dorset is stunning and easy to drive to lots of worth while attractions. Amity was great and really made us welcome with bubbles and clear instructions. highly recommend it.

A stunning four bedroom detached house, set in the heart of the beautiful village of Piddletrenhide, in the Piddle Valley. Ogden Nash's poem 'Paradise for Sale' was based on this house which is full of character and recently restored to a very high standard. A great base for walking holidays, or exploring the county of Dorset and the surrounding coastline. Kiddles House is 12 minutes from Dorchester and 20 minutes from Sherborne. There are two pubs in the village and a village shop.
All bedding and towels provided. One travel cot provided which is set up and ready to go. You will need to provide all bedding for the travel cot.
Kiddles House is located in the popular Dorset village of Piddletrenthide which has two public houses, and a small village shop. There are two excellent pubs both within 40-60 minutes walk. Please be aware our house is in the middle of a peaceful and tranquil village which we hope you will enjoy during your stay. Please be considerate towards our neighbours' privacy and noise during the day and at night. Thank you.

  • Gorgeous, spacious house in a picturesque village. Great for walks, visiting local tourist attractions - and if you stay in doors (as we did when it rained heavily one afternoon) great facilities for all ages. Local pubs are very welcoming & serve good food. Highly recommend!

  • An absolutely breathtaking house. Far bigger than photos do it justice and easily accommodated 8 of us. Lovely weekend stay and had perfect weather to make use of the peaceful garden too. A short drive to dorchester too. Would highly recommend to others and hoping to come back to stay another time. Thank you.

  • I couldn't have asked for a more perfect venue to host my birthday party with my closest friend! The house is insanely gorgeous and is so well equipped, cosy warm feeling about it, we stayed there 2 nights and absolutely adored it. There is a pub 5mn down the path by the house which helps when no one feels like cooking! We will definitely try to come back soon.

    Elodie2019-09-08T00:00:00Z
  • A great space to spend time with your family. The house is extremely large and filled with all essentials. The village and surrounding areas are beautiful. Garden chairs were lacking if you are travelling with less abled who wouldn’t sit on the grass and the garden is not secure enough to let dogs roam but other than that we all had a wonderful time.

The Coach House was built in the early 1900's next to the Village Inn for the carriage and horses. It has been delightfully restored to provide self-catering accommodation for 4/5. Whilst looking traditional, with solid wood flooring, exposed beams, and a wooden staircase, it has the benefit of modern technology. The hub of the Coach House is the lounge/kitchen/diner with its cosy log burner, leather sofas, underfloor heating and wall hung flat screen TV.
Dewlish is a small rural village and is perfectly situated for exploring Dorset towns and the Jurassic coast. Attractions near by are Thomas Hardy cottage, Monkey World, the tank museum and Corfe Castle
  • Comfy, cosy, warm.

  • A lovely house, a great base for exploring the south coast. The place is nicely rural with empty lanes and farms nearby and a wonderful starlit dark sky.

    Lucy2020-01-19T00:00:00Z
  • My son and I and our two dogs spent two nights at the Coach House in early January and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The Coach House is well-presented, comfortable and very cosy (especially with the wood-burning stove lit), and provided a perfect spot for exploring the area. Having a friendly and welcoming pub next door was ideal for evening meals and a drink without having to worry about driving. And the pub food was excellent. Roy was quick to respond to emails and to offer helpful advice. All in all, highly recommended.

A beautiful new studio in the Dorset countryside with stunning views, a private entrance and a private terrace to relax on. It is a perfect central location to explore Dorset, with many attractions nearby, only 10min drive to the Cerne Abbas giant or Dorchester and 25min to the Jurassic Coast.
The studio is located at the back garden above the garage at the top of the drive. It offers beautiful views, privacy and cosiness. Our splendid reviews reflect the beauty and simplicity of our space. It is spacious yet compact, having all you need for up to 2 people, a comfortable large bed, a dinning / kichen area with a table and chairs, dressing space with a chest of drawers, a coat rail for your clothes and a compact bathroom with the shower. Outside you can use the private tarace with a table and chairs to enjoy your morning coffee or an evening drink. For your use is a selection of teas and coffee, with some fresh milk in the fridge. Good WiFi signal may allow you to work remotely or enjoy the Internet through your own devices. • Magdalena is a fantastic host and the place itself is wonderfully situated and very cozy and private. We had a cracking time and would definitely come again! Thanks so much!

  • I recommend Magdalena's studio flat. it is very clean, comfortable and has beautiful views

    New2020-01-01T00:00:00Z
  • We choose Magdalenas loft as it was local to our friends who we'd come to see. It's a beautiful self contained space enough for our needs. Spotlessly clean. A very easy to find location from main roads, using sat nav. Very pretty village with and excellent pub opposite with good food. Very good communication too from Magdalena for either questions ask or info for us. Thoroughly recommend.

    Kay2019-10-29T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful, peaceful studio, exactly as described. It is in a very pretty quiet rural village which has lovely walks by the river. The pub opposite means that you can nip out for a drink or meal. and the views from the studio and balcony are great. It is cosy but big enough for 2 people to sleep, cook and eat comfortably. The bed is really large and everywhere is immaculately clean. Magdalena was a lovely host providing us with local info during our stay and was extremely friendly when we met her.

    Louise2019-09-22T00:00:00Z
  • Magdalena's place was perfect for the local guitar building course I was on (crimson guitars). A ten minute walk across two fields and I was at the venue. The studio was big, recently built, warm and clean. The cooking facilities allowed me to order a Waitrose delivery for the week and not spend a load of money in the local gastro pub. Saying that the pub is really nice, very popular and very close to the studio. Magdalena couldn't have been nicer or more outgoing. I felt very welcome and would gladly recommend her place to anyone. • This is a great spot and was perfect for our two night stay in Dorset, lovely stylish place, with thoughtful touches to make you feel welcome. We loved that it was a quiet spot, in a peaceful village - away from the more chaotic bits of Dorset in holiday season. Arrivals info all very helpful, we also had a nice evening meal at the pub over the road which was friendly and good value food. A highly recommended flat if you are looking for a good base to explore this part of Dorset.

The home offers female only guests a safe, secure and comfortable place to rest their head while visiting Dorset. The bathroom and toilet facilities are downstairs. Porridge is available otherwise Wetherspoons, Taste or Reloved in Dorchester provide a range of breakfast meals. There’s a yummy cafe and health food shop up the road near Godmanstone. The service is as outstanding as the food and drink. Access to Yeovil, Weymouth and Sherborne is straight forward. The X11 bus runs M-F only.
It’s a cosy home surrounded by livestock at the front and back of the house. The bedroom is light and spacious with a rail for hanging towels, a door hooks for jackets. The bed is comfy and the shower is powerful. My cats like to make guests feel welcome and will demand fuss and company. It’s part of their charm! There’s a few doorstops dotted around to prevent cat plucking. Whilst I try and keep a spotless house I cannot always promise you won’t find cat hair in places.
The community is friendly and welcoming.
  • A home away from home - I really enjoyed my stay here, Suzy-Anna is very welcoming and her adorable animals are a delight. The village is peaceful, with a good local pub, and there are wonderful views from the room, which is comfortable and cosy. Will definitely stay here again!

  • If you enjoy being welcomed and surrounded by furry hosts, you’re in for a treat. I was made really welcome in Suzy-Anna’s lovely home and introduced to an adorable Corgi and the fluffiest catsI’ve ever met. The joy of those guys aside, it’s just a lovely house, with such a nice feel to it. Suzy-Anna couldn’t do enough for me and a weekend away from home in the midst of a storm was made not only bearable but a real treat. 5 stars are not enough. Thank you

She's made sure all my needs are met including making me a special leaf tea and giving me a very helpful advice about places to visit locally. The house is stylishly decorated and perfectly clean even though Suzy-Anna has a dog and cats. They are adorable and a great company! The room is spacious with amazing view to a green field and the bed is super comfortable. I would definitely recommend this place! Thank you Suzy-Anna!

It is a lovely village, with great walks a village shop and two pubs. There is also an excellent dining pub in Plush - The Brace of Pheasants which is only 1 mile away. The village is in the Piddle valley and near Dorchester, less than 20mins from Weymouth and the sea and the Jurassic coast is in striking distance.
  • We had a lovely stay at West Cottage- quiet, peaceful and relaxing. The cottage had everything we needed. An easy walk to the village for the pubs or corner shop.

  • We had the most magical stay at the beautiful house with deers in front our bedroom windows every day. Surrounded by fields and forest and through the facilities to light a fire in the evenings, Mervyn’s place is perfect to unwind, relax, and to get inspired. We were almost glad it rained so much as we could use it for an excuse to stay. Thank you! Ana and Lucas

    Ana Mari2020-03-06T00:00:00Z
  • Oh my goodness what a marvellous stay we had! The tree house is so stunning - it has everything you could possible need for a relaxing weekend away. Mervyn was so great at communicating and was so helpful with any questions we had. Would highly recommend you stay here if you’re in Dorset! Thank you for having us :)

    Em2020-03-02T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed here a couple of weeks ago for my husbands 40th birthday. I wanted to stay somewhere a little different and this was it. It was so much nicer than I was expecting and so much bigger. For us we had perfect weather, it was raining all weekend, and we just chilled and played board games and watched films. There is loads of books and board games for you to take advantage off. It was perfect for a weekend getaway from normal life. Mervyn was a wonderful host, always quick to answer any questions. We had a minor problem but it was sorted straight away and it wasn’t the fault of the owners, but it was dealt with professionally and quickly. There’s only 2 things I would change personally: 1) The hot tub was a downfall for us, took too long to heat so didn’t get to use it. I get that it’s eco friendly but wonder if there’s a better option rather than heating with fire? 2)The bedroom has a velux window, wonderful to watch the stars at night, but let’s lots of light in the morning, which some people like, but we personally like our bedroom dark. So I would suggest a blind so that you can choose if you want it bright in the morning or not. These are me being really picky as honestly here’s not a lot to complain about. I would definitely come back again! We loved it. Xxx

    Amy2020-02-25T00:00:00Z
  • A lovely place for a break away. Even though the weather was horrendous we had a great time, cooking in the kitchen and playing board games by the roaring fire. Would love to come back in the summer and make use of the poop deck BBQ and get the hot tub fired up

    Jessica2020-02-22T00:00:00Z
  • If you are considering booking the Treetops Eco Lodge, do! It is a beautiful space - impossible to not switch off and thoroughly relax once you are in. We cant wait to return. Mervyn is a brilliant host and his commitment to guests enjoying their stay is clear to see.

    Lydia2020-02-18T00:00:00Z
  • The Tree House is wonderful, a really relaxing few days by the log fire in a very cute little village. The bed was incredibly comfortable, I hope I’ll be back again soon.

    Laura2020-02-15T00:00:00Z
  • You need to book this place !! The excitement mounts as you climb the stairs. Once inside - Wow ! A great comfortable cozy stay awaits you. From the fully fitted kitchen to the wood burner to the massive comfy bed. You will not want to leave ! A hot tub with a cold beer staring at the stars takes some beating. Open the door to the wood from the bedroom and wait for the deer ! Mervyn is the perfect host too, on hand with any problems but very happy to leave us to it. Perfect break and recharge. Highly recommend !

Steps Barn is a unique gallery style living space, where most household items, furniture and art are made by small independent artisans and some of the items you can also purchase through us should you fall in love with something during your visit! The space is thoughtfully curated, a mix of old and new. The 3 bedroomed barn is situated on a farm down a private tree lined track in the heart of Cerne Valley, a 10minute walk through the countryside to the lovely historical village of Cerne Abbas.
the barn is in a quiet and secluded spot surrounded by forest and fields and has fantastic walks in abundance. You will really be able to enjoy peace and quiet here. We are about 30minute drive from a fantastic array of beaches and little villages / towns and close to the Somerset border. The barn has 3 bedrooms, 2 doubles and a small single with a sloped ceiling. The small single room is ideally for a child as it leads off the main bedroom. The main bedroom with a double bed is part of a large open plan space with a living room at the other end. It sleeps 5 + comfortably. The barn is very cosy and has an old Rayburn and a log burner which keep the barn warm. Additionally there is a modern electric cooker/oven for everyday cooking. This place is suitable for anyone who loves the outdoors; available for singles, couples and families! If you’d like to see a video tour of the place see Instagram @stepsbarn

  • We loved Step’s Barn and can’t wait to visit again. Nora was really helpful at all stages. It’s in a lovely, quiet location, a short walk through the fields to Cerne Abbas where we visited the Royal Oak and the village store. The house is beautiful and well equipped for cooking.

  • Steps Barn is a beautiful place to stay. It is peaceful but only a 10 minute walk to the local village where there are 3 great pubs to eat and drink in. There are walks straight out of the property around the surrounding hills, and you can easily walk to the Cerne Abbas hill sculpture. The barn itself is fully equipped with all kitchen facilities and everything you need for a holiday home. The furniture and fittings are all tasteful and pleasing; it is a classy place. A wonderful place to connect with nature and each other!

    Melissa2020-02-02T00:00:00Z
  • Beautifully presented house that is much bigger than in the photos. Everything was perfect and Cerne Abbas is a great place to be with plenty to do! Thank you very much Nora.

  • The barn was beautiful, secret treasure. We had a wonderful relaxing stay. The large lounge was great to socialise and chat, the kitchen was well equipped. The beds were comfortable. The local village was gorgeous to walk around and we also visited the Royal Oak for some great food! The village shop was well stocked and very convenient. When our family visited from another area they wished they had stayed closer to us. Would highly recommend and would love to visit again, checking out the brewery next time!

  • This is the most WONDERFUL cottage with the loveliest of hosts! We stayed for several weeks, and were blown away by the experience... Location: the cottage is nestled into the beautiful Piddle valley just ten minutes from Dorchester, and was the perfect place to stay. We particularly enjoyed walking the many footpaths and our kids loved the the nearby playground in Piddlehinton. House: the cottage is immaculate and characterful, with a wood burning stove and comfy sofas - it felt like home! Outside, there is spacious outside decking which catches the sun. Hosts: from our first day there we were so well looked after by Vanessa, with so many thoughtful and personal touches: a cake waiting for us on arrival, gifts of fresh garden produce throughout our stay, an extra heater when it was cold, an extra mattress for our young child. She went the extra mile. We would recommend this cottage to anyone! Thank you Vanessa!!

  • A lovely, quiet cottage that's within easy reach of everything Dorset has to offer. Delightful host. Nice clean, comfortable cottage. The hot-tub is highly recommended; worth paying extra for. And the sheep were very good neighbours.

    Jim2017-08-12T00:00:00Z
  • Brilliant, Vanessa is the perfect hostess and the cottage suited our needs perfectly. Thank you, we are looking forward to our return trip in a few weeks.

  • Dear Vanessa, We want to say a BIG THANK YOU for the lovely barn we've enjoyed. All the advice you gave us was very helpful and by the way THANKS very much for the lovely cake and bottle of wine you left for us at the arrival. The surroundings are picturesque and peaceful and we've enjoyed the hot tub as well. We will definitely recommend you to our friends and family. It was very useful as well the fact that a lot of nice places were not very far from our place of accommodation. Thanks again

    Daniel2017-07-10T00:00:00Z
  • The cottage is a converted barn in the middle of nature, very quiet, which Vanessa has furnished with great attention to detail. Everything necessary for a pleasant stay was available, everything was very clean and lovingly designed. Only the short gravel road to the house was a bit habituation. There are chickens and sheep, which pleased my 12 year old niece. The location is good for exploring the Dorset area, also close to Stonehenge. Approximately 2 hours drive from London Heathrow Airport. The area is ideal for a nice holiday, in our case unfortunately only 1 week. The pub in Piddlehinton is also very cozy. We 3 adults and 1 child can recommend the cottage in any case!

Some condiments are included in the cupboards as well as all everything you need for dishwashing and laundry. In the utility there is a washing machine and tumble dryer and a Belfast sink. The garden has a picnic table and 3 comfortable sunloungers. Sorry no pets
Cerne Abbas is a friendly and very pretty village. There are 3 pubs, all serving delicious food and a tea room that is also highly recommended for both meals and afternoon tea. There are lots of beautiful walks in Cerne Abbas, one of which would be a walk around the Cerne Giant. Cerne Abbas is 8 miles from Dorchester, 12 miles from Sherborne and 16 miles from Weymouth.
  • Wholeheartedly recommend Little Thatch Cottage for a couple or a family/group of 3. Possibly the nicest Air B&B we have stayed in. It was a beautiful cottage with wonderful amenities: great kitchen, lovely clean bedrooms and bathrooms. Lots of information on the local area and everything in the cottage. Situated in a lovely scenic area with lots to explore locally. The village it is situated in has a great local shop and some excellent pubs. The host was so generous with her knowledge and answered all our questions, providing some nice little things such as hot drinks, milk and biscuits which was very unexpected. All in all a great place to stay and excellent host.

  • A beautiful cottage which is ideally located. Spotlessly clean with thoughtful touches added, the milk and tea on arrival was much appreciated. Sophie is an amazing host who dealt quickly with a slight problem that we had.

  • Lovely cozy cottage. Well equipped kitchen, comfy beds and a pretty garden.

  • An excellent place, very cosy with everything you need. Sophie was extremely helpful and easy to contact.

  • We had a lovely stay at Little Thatch. The house was very cozy and with a fantastic modern kitchen. The village and surrounding area were lovely and great for walks with lots of local history too. Sophie was a great host who responded very quickly when we contacted her and even left us some treats for our arrival.

  • My 90 year old mum and I had the most perfect Christmas in Sophie's cottage. We nearly didn't make it as my mum was in a car accident in October but she was determined to get away and the cottage was perfect - genuinely warm and comfortable and no uneven floors or tricky showers to navigate (all very important when you have a fractured pelvis!!). It's an easy walk into the village for the shop and pubs and the surrounding countryside is beautiful. I can honestly say this is one of the best airbnb cottages I have stayed in. Would love to return.

  • Little Thatch is an amazing place within the old historic village of Cerne Abbas. An amazing little cottage with a very modern kitchen and everything required for a great break away from children and a busy town life. We soon got to know the village shop owners, the pub landlords/land ladies x3 and some of the locals. A torch is required when making your way into the village at night, as there are no street lights. The village does have minimal light pollution, which is great. Our host had thought of everything required for our great stay. LOVED IT! 5*****

  • This is an absolutely amazing place. The location gives you peace and quiet with a stunning view. Inside is lovely and open, with a really well stocked property. It was a true home from home. Not only that but amazing response time and also really welcoming and helpful hosting from Nicola too. Definitely going to be returning!

  • The Wagon House is in a peaceful location with outstanding views. Roomy and comfortable, it's a great place to recharge your batteries. It's surrounded by fields with a short walk to both a small fishing lake and a wildlife hide. A lovely seating area with stunning views sits outside the front door. The kitchen is well stocked and there is a strong WiFi signal throughout the property. Nicola, the host, is easy to contact and made us feel very welcome.

  • Fantastic place to base ourselves for exploring the south coast. The Wagon House was perfect for 4 adults, 1 infant and a dog. Both baby and dog loved the outdoor space loving to run up and down the shared lawn. It had everything we needed there and was spotlessly clean. Nicola also let us have the use of her travel cot and high chair which saved us a lot of space! Wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this venue and hope to be back one day.

    Lisa2019-05-12T00:00:00Z
  • An enjoyable stay in a great location! Recommend for a quiet base with amazing views!

    Elizabeth2019-04-12T00:00:00Z
  • We had the most wonderful stay at Nicola’s cottage and spoiled with exceptionally gorgeous weather. The cottage is very spacious... homely, beautifully clean and has the most breathtaking views. The location was great for exploring all the wonderful sites in Dorset... the games room was a treat for the boys and the fireplace a big bonus. We highly recommend this for anyone who would like to get away... breathe in some fresh air and be comfortable with lovely beds and large living area! Thank you

  • A truly tranquil setting. Views were amazing and the Wagonhouse a very tasteful barn conversion making a great place to stay. Underfloor heating and wet room were perfect. Excellent communication from our hosts and can't really find any faults! 😃

Anglebury A perfect cottage for the smaller family, Anglebury sleeps three with one double and one single bedroom. Large four bedroom house with a comfortable double bedroom and exclusive use of en suite. Lovely village location with general shop only 30m away. Only three miles from the Dorset County town of Dorchester.
The bedroom is a large double with its own en suite. It has been recently redecorated and has a large built in wardrobe and pine chest of drawers. There is a TV, DVD and DAB radio in your room. The en suite comes with complimentary shower gel and shampoo. It also has a power shower.
The neighbourhood is quiet and peaceful. The village is largely made up of families so you may hear children playing in the nearby play area. The village has its own gym in the old church with its own cafe. The gym accepts short term pay as you go memberships. The village has a well stocked shop one minute’s walk from the house. There is a Post Office counter, ATM, newsagents, fresh bread, vegetables and meat all stocked. There are many nice walks within the village and public bridal paths around the village too.
  • John was very hospitable and welcoming. The room and bathroom were immaculate and very comfortable. Quiet location less than 10 minutes from Dorchester centre and we will certainly visit again.

  • What an absolute gem, South House Retreat is a wonderful place to stay. The hosts Tracy and Martin were lovely and both very welcoming. We will definitely be returning in the near future. Wish we had stayed longer this past week.

    Shaun2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • From start to finish, my stay at South House Retreat was outstanding. Stunning property with incredible facilities! Tracy's massage and Reiki treatments are amazing! I recommend this place to ANYONE who needs a bit of self tlc and a space to unwind!

    Emma2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • Comfortable, unique stay at Tracy's, no detail too small. Hot tub was definitely a highlight.

    Tammy2019-10-27T00:00:00Z
  • The retreat is the ideal place to escape and relax. Both Tracy and Martin are great hosts and make you feel very welcome. Set in beautiful surroundings with some nice local pubs close by. I’d recommend a spell in the hot tub with a glass of wine under the stars! Thanks

  • It was the perfect ending to our holiday. A little bit of luxury after a few days camping and it was so nice to receive the warm hospitality that Tracy and Martin offered us. After a very warm welcome and tour of their lovely house we were left to our own devices to enjoy our room, lounge and gardens before being offered a pre dinner drink before being served our delicious and very good value supper. This enjoyed with our hosts and their other guests, It felt like we were dining amongst friends, Tracy and Martin made everyone very relaxed and we really enjoyed every-bodies company. We ended our night with some star gazing in the very hot hot tub! Lush. The house is called a retreat and it really does feel like one. The only draw back was we had to leave! A couple of days would have felt very relaxing I know. Thanks for your great hospitality - see you again we hope!

    Kate2019-05-28T00:00:00Z
  • Tracy and Martin were superb hosts - both before our visit through prompt communication and during it with great advice about things to do in the local area. Our room was absolutely ideal with plenty of ventilation (despite the heatwave and being at the top of the house) and a very comfortable mattress. You couldn't fail to have a good night's sleep there! Breakfast was a feast with quality continental and cooked options available. We hope to be back in the future.

    Adam2018-07-15T00:00:00Z
  • No words to describe to amazing night we had! Tracy and Martin are just the nicest you’ll ever meet! So welcoming, friendly and they feel like family in no time! We didn’t want to leave! Beautiful home with beautiful people! We left so relaxed and happy :) We’ll be back ther very soon!

    Kellee2018-02-18T00:00:00Z
  • Tracy and Martin were wonderful hosts - welcoming and very generous and open with their home. South House is a lovely restored home with wonderful gardens, and unexpectedly quiet and peaceful even though it's on the main road through town (virtually no traffic in the evenings). The room we stayed in was spacious and very comfortable, and our hosts made us feel completely welcome in the whole house. It's an idyllic spot in the Dorset countryside close to Dorchester. It was also a pleasure to have a delicious cooked breakfast and visit with our fellow guests in the dining room in the mornings (it seems we don't get to have this true "B&B" experience very much any more). If you need a drink and want to chat with the locals walking their dogs there's the Piddle Inn a quick walk away (the patio is right by a popular path and bridge over the Piddle River, better described as a stream, up to the fields). But don't miss out on the delightful Thimble Inn in the neighbouring village of Piddlehinton. We much preferred the pub, food, atmosphere, and setting.

The Parlour is a 3 double bedroom cottage which is part of Duntish Mill Farm that has recently been lovingly renovated. There is open plan living with vaulted ceilings and a cosy log burner. French doors that lead onto a large private patio area. Located in an AONB of Dorset, we are surrounded by plenty of stunning countryside centrally located between the historic towns of Sherbourne and Dorchester, which is also only a short drive away from the Jurassic Coast.
Duntish Mill Farm is a beautifully renovated farm located in the stunning Dorset countryside. There is free on-site parking, including two EV fast charging points. Free high speed WIFI. Dogs are welcome £20/dog. The Parlour Cottage is all single storey with only one small step in and out, so ideal for the less mobile person. There is also a lovely village shop local pub which is dog friendly less than a mile away.
  • A great place to stay, very well equipped, spotlessly clean and Sam and Sophie couldn't be better hosts. Would highly recommend and we will back! Hopefully next time without a flat tyre!

    Stuart2019-12-30T00:00:00Z
  • Cosy, warm and very clean and comfortable. The Parlour is very modern and well equipped and has beautiful traditional features. Sam and Sophie were very welcoming and helpful. We had a lovely time staying in this beautiful part of the country close to some lovely places. We will definitely be back and have no hesitation in recommending.

    Adam2019-12-09T00:00:00Z
  • We really enjoyed our stay at Sam and Sophie's place, they were great hosts and the accommodation come highly recommended.

    Lindsay2019-11-11T00:00:00Z
  • The Parlour was fantastic; exceeded expectation with lovely little touches and great facilities. We would stay again in a heartbeat!

    Anthony2019-11-04T00:00:00Z
  • Sam and Sophie made us all, including Millie the dog, feel so welcome and at home. The property is stunning and it really did feel like a home from home. The location is perfect for exploring Dorset. The kitchen is well equipped with some lovely little touches too, the wood burner is perfect for cold evenings and the style and decor is just lovely. We would not hesitate to recommend to others.

    Jenna2019-10-31T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful stay at The Parlour. The place was beautifully furnished and sparkling clean. A true 'Wow' moment on arrival. All communication the Sam was really good. We would highly recommend staying here.

    Kate2019-10-27T00:00:00Z
  • We took a chance on this property even though there were no reviews because it looked so perfect from the photos. We were not disappointed! We were Sam & Sophie’s first guests and we appreciated the high quality of the finish throughout. Very well equipped with nice touches including beautiful flowers in pots outside and a welcome pack of milk, butter, bread and their own free range eggs. Unusual to have 3 double bedded rooms but this suited us perfectly. There is ample parking on site which itself is perfectly located for exploring all four corners of beautiful Dorset. Although mobile phone signals for EE and Vodafone are very weak (like most of rural Dorset!) the property’s Wi-fi is very good so FaceTime and WhatsApp calls work perfectly. We loved our stay and congratulate Sam & Sophie on their property and are sure they will have great success with this and the other two properties they have on site. Looking forward to returning!
