Kevin was super accommodating at my last minute request to stay. The cabin itself was great - cozier than expected and complete with full kitchen etc. If you've seen photos of the Sierra Nevada you know the skyline mountain view from the cabin porch is quite refreshing. Wish I would've had more time to enjoy the cabin but the amazing scenery of Lone Pine was calling - Much to explore here!

Lovely comfortable cabin in a great spot. Perfect stage for exploring the area and all it has to offer. Lots of nice personal touches in the cabin, nice kitchen area. Only stayed one night on a road trip, but would have enjoyed a longer stay. Minor issue with the shower, but as Kevin actually lives next door that should be helpfull.

Beautiful and comfortable space to escape from the trappings of contemporary society and all its hecticness for a bit. Good location, friendly host, and a good scenic space to unwind and just breathe.

Kevin is responsive and answer our questions in a timely manner. We enjoyed our stay in the cabin. It's closed to Death Valley where we drove from. A nice place and close to restaurants and gas station, thank you Kevin!

Kevin's home was quite lovely! It's located on the outskirts of what seems to be a trailer park, which is very quiet and right off the 395. The pictures and description were accurate. For our group of 4 adults it was perfect! We simply needed a night to lay our heads and take a shower after spending a few nights in the Sierra's hiking Mt. Whitney. Unfortunately the water heater isn't too terribly large and after a 10-15 minute shower, the second person got in and received cold water after a minute or so. The boys waited a few hours to take their shower so they'd have some hot water. In addition the power outlet in the bathroom didn't work. Other than that, the home suited our needs perfectly. It's not too far from lone pine and a quick 5 minute drive will get you back into town for drinks, food, etc. If we come back up here to do some more camping and hiking, we will definitely stay here again! Thanks again for the wonderful stay, and prompt communication!

Kevin's cabin is a perfect place to stay if you want to make a stop between Death Valley & Yosemite. It's quiet and calm, but close to the lovely city of Lone Pine where you could have a drink & nice diner. I highly recommend this place !

Ideal location for Mt. Whitney hikes, Whitney Portal is just 25 mins away. Doroethy was a wonderful host, and the place was very comfortable. Each bedroom had its own bathroom and that helped our group prep in a flash. Thanks Doroethy!

What a truly unique property. Breathtaking views. This was the perfect place to start and end our journey up Mt Whitney. Definitely rustic and off the grid which was just what we were looking for. Just be aware that it can be quite hot in the summer time!

A beauftiful, off the grid oasis. Perfect place to use as a base camp for exploring Mt Whitney. Huge, comfortable house with so many porches you can choose a different one each night to enjoy the sunset.

Ewwww!! There were mouse droppings in my bed - which I found after I slept on it. The "A-frame" part of the house had rodent feces in both the bathroom and on the bed we slept in. My parents came night 1 of 2 nights total to pick up my husband and I at Whitney Portal after 8 days on the High Sierra Trail. They stayed in a different part of the house, and didn't have any complaints. The house is cozy and secluded, but really in need of a cleaning (dust on table, old food in pantry and refrigerator) and rodent abatement. Doroethy declined compensating us in any way.

What a great experience. Doroethy was an excellent host. The location was amazing. Located a few miles from town, the home was secluded with a magnificent view of the mountains. Such a gem. You won't be disappointed.

We stayed with a group of friends at Doroethy's place for a long weekend to climb Mt Whitney. The location is absolutely beautiful, very much off the grid and with stunning views. Doroethy gave us a very warm welcome. The house itself has all that you need and is a perfect place to relax after a though day of hiking.

This house is good for those that are looking to stay in the Lone Pine area and especially for hikers attempting to climb Mt. Whitney. Pros: very spacious and clean; each room had it's own bathroom; 5 beds and a couch meant everyone in our group had a place to sleep; 15 minutes from the trailhead; 10 minutes to town. Cons: solar power means restrictions on charging devices (makes it a little difficult when you've been hiking all day); refrigerator did not get below 60 degrees the first day there and or food for the hike spoiled; the center of the house was exceptionally warm and there was no way to really cool it off - the bedrooms did cool off nicely at night. Overall, this is not a bad place to stay if you're looking for somewhere close to the Mt. Whitney trailhead to have a bed and a shower before and after your hike. The views and scenery in the area were spectacular and the Doroethy communicated well and was very helpful.

Doroethy drove out and met us at the gate, to lead us to the house. She is very nice. Showed us around, the property is as described. There were 5 of us and we had plenty of room. We did MT. Whitney in a day as a group, we really appreciated how comfortable the are. I have recommended this place to other friends who will be in the area.

We had a wonderful stay. Everything with the house and area was beyond our expectations - both were even more amazing than the photos. It has just the right balance of understated comfort to enjoy the beauty of the area. The views are amazing. The house had everything we could need for our visit. Our boys enjoyed exploring the rocks on the property and looking at the stars at night. I hope we can come back one day!

This is really a special place! Very private, comfortable and the views are unbeatable! There were only two of us and the house seemed very big for just two people, but I liked it! It is very clean and everything is new. We spent all evenings outside on the deck, stargazing (it was the first time we saw Milky Way so bright! And even made great photos). Views are amazing - from the deck, master bedroom and all other windows. Place is very close to Alabama hills - ideal for a morning hike. Doug is an excellent host - very welcoming, ready to help and easy to communicate. He was always very fast to respond. Thank you!

This place is truly unique and special! We were traveling with someone with very high standards and even he was Wowed! The house is clean, comfortable, artistic and inviting but the views from the deck are so incredible they will draw you out. Predawn morning coffee watching the jackrabbits and sunrise made us late for our activities everyday. (You just don't want to leave.) Drinks around the fire and stargazing will keep you up much later than you planned. Check in/out are a breeze, and Doug is so easy to communicate with. I just hope it doesn't get so popular that I can't get in next time! Clynn PS the WIFI here is really good too. Four of us anxious to share our adventures with friends and family at home had no trouble being on at the same time.

Place was as described.. well it was better than that. The location was phenomenally beautiful and Doug's recommendations were great. Our family had a great time. The 2 kids and dog loved exploring the rocks around the house. Days were filled with hikes and nights watching the starry skies. Perfect seeing break in every way. Thank you so much!

Jurassic House is fabulous in every way - design, location and interior. Very tastefully decorated and well appointed - everything is of an exceptionally high standard. And the surrounding area is breathtaking. My teenage boys enjoyed scrambling over the rocks and boulders whilst we enjoyed a more relaxing time on the decking admiring the views. Perfect evenings spent barbecuing and stargazing. Sorry to leave and hope to return again before too long. Doug is a great host and communication was a breeze. Just perfect.

I would like to start off by saying Thank you to Doug for being such a wonderful host. Email communications were quick, efficient and very helpful. I can't stop raving about this home to my friends and neighbors. Location, Location, Location! The property this house sits on has these amazing boulders to explore/climb on. My niece and nephew spent hours in 15 F weather playing in and around the boulders. We had to bribe them with hot chocolate to come in. The house is beautiful inside and out, and the kitchen was very well stocked with pots, pans and condiments. We already have plans to book this place for the summer to explore all the trails around lone pine.

We had a wonderful stay at Robert's little cottage. It was the perfect resting point between Yosemite and Las Vegas and we had a very restful night. Thanks again!

Cozy place to stay in LP. Walkable to the main drag, near the edge of town. Easy private parking - unloading, lots of good tourist literature and maps. Modest but clean and civilized. Robert was responsive and friendly. It's a great base for Owens Valley exploration.

We loved Robert's place. We walked into town with our pups to get supplies and again for dinner, really enjoyed the fenced in front yard which allowed the puppies ample space to play and run around. The sofa bed was plenty comfortable enough for my mother and we enjoyed the queen bed as well. The house was small, but really cute and you can't beat the views of Whitney portal and Sierra crest. If you want to stay in Lone Pine and have pets than this is your place. Robert was a great host, super helpful in making our check in easy and was quick to respond. Book now!

We have been traveling the eastern Sierra's for 30 years. Wife and I needed some down time and at spur of the moment decided to book Robert's place. The house was exactly what we were looking for, it was small and clean. The neighborhood was very quiet. The next morning we woke up on our time schedule and went hiking for the day. We enjoyed dinner in Lone Pine, walked the street, and then went back to the house to just read and relax. Robert was very responsive and hospitable. If you are hiking the PCT, JMT, Whitney, or doing any photo shoots in the area, and want a simple kick back quiet location, this is the place. Again, Robert is an excellent host and we hope to return some day.

Great little place to stay while you explore Death Valley or the Eastern Sierra. Very well equipped. Nice and clean.

Robert's place is quiet, clean, and very comfortable. It has everything you could need! Robert was very communicative the entire time we were there and attentive to our needs as they came up. The neighboring restaurants and shops are fun to explore if you're looking for a good place to eat. My family and I came to visit for the pilgrimage to Manzanar and had a wonderful time knowing we had a cozy place to come back to!

This is a very nice place to stay after (or before) a full day in the Death Valley. Do not expect a luxury motel, this is Darwin, a very nice village in the desert, with warm people and a lot of cool things to see around!

Jude & Pierre's place in Darwin was a great adventure off of the main road. We were headed from LA up to Mammoth Lakes and took the short detour to see another landscape along the way. Well worth it, Pierre was a fantastic and friendly host who invited us in to show us around their very interesting home and tell us about their lives. I encourage anyone looking for a curious place to stop by. Take some time in the morning to explore around Darwin (you wont need too long)!

A really nice place in the dessert in Death Valley. Jude and Pierre are really sweet people and great hosts. We was only staying one night and arrived really late, but Jude and Pierre were both up welcoming us. Jude even invited us to go for a walk in the morning to see a beautiful view over Death Valley, but we had to leave early so we didn't get up there. This is the a real dessert experience and that is much more nice than a boring motel. It's primitive and you sleep outside in a camping-van, but it's really nice and cozy.

Great communication. Pierre was a really good host. Nothing was too much. Gave us a tour of the town and local area in the morning and a few recommendations for Death Valley. Accommodation was comfortable and clean. Beautiful outside seating area. Even saw a rare electrical storm and met some of the locals. If you want a different once in life time experience definitely stay here! Will be back if we're in the area.

Jenifer’s place is great! It was better than expected and the location is perfect to visit Alabama Hills and to stay for the night between Death Valley and Yosemite Valley. We would definitely stay again in this house.

This is a perfect base for your Mt. Whitney hike. The views from the front porch are incredible. The location is convenient - an easy five minute walk to the town of Lone Pine. We had some rental gear shipped to the trailer ahead of time and Jenifer was extremely accommodating to make sure the box was there when we arrived. The beds/linens were comfortable and everything was very clean. If we ever go back to Mt. Whitney, I hope this place is still available!

This was a good stay in a very well equipped place, convenient for beginning our drive through Death Valley. Checkin was very smooth and a small query was immediately resolved by a timely and helpful visit from the host's friends (Jennifer was away at the time). Beds were comfortable. Location was very quiet. Future guests should be aware of two things: (1) this is a sort of mobile home or temporary type building, which has been refurbished diligently and thoroughly. This means that the soft furnishings are nice and there has been good attention to decor; but the underlying structure is very dated and downmarket (e.g. small doors, narrow corridor, unfinished wood ceilings, poor lighting on the ceilings). (2) Lone Pine can be hot in Summer and although there is air conditioning, it is a central vent into the corridor and it takes a while for cool air to circulate around the building. It is also very noisy when operating. With these things in mind we felt the property was comfortable and Jennifer is clearly a diligent host. Nevertheless some may find the pricing a bit high for what it is.

Jenifer was a good host, and was very responsive by immediately repairing a mechanical unit that was faltering.

Jennifer went above and beyond as we booked on a Friday then requested to come earlier and she was available and flexible with our check in. The place was beautifully located right below Mt. Whitney in the cute town of Lone Pone. We were in the area for a backpacking trip and Jennifer had basic food items available in the kitchen which made so we didn't have to forage for food. We were thrilled with the luxury provided and the great view.

Amazing place to at if you are hiking to Whitney. Great value!! Jennifer was extremely helpful and made sure our stay was comfortable. I would recommend this place.

We stayed at Jenifer's place one night when we were passing through. We especially enjoyed making use of the BBQ and were impressed with the view. Check-in and check-out was also ridiculously easy!

You'll feel right at home. We went to hike Mt. Whitney and needed a place to stay. The hosts are so down to earth and very nice. Cute room with AC. We slept like babies. Beautiful area where the house is located. When I come back again I would stay here

George and his wife are such an amazing hosts!! They look very well after their guests. The place was very clean and every single detail was well looked after. They gave us lots of snacks and breakfast. George even gave us a copy of his own blues-latin album!! Spot on in the Airbnb experience, highly recommend it! By the way, hope you had an amazing birthday George!

What a wonderful stay. Easy to book, wonderful and warm home where I had everything I needed and slept like a baby. Make sure to visit the falls in the Alabamas and they even gave me fruit off of their tree on the way out. The new air conditioner was appreciated in the room too.

Best Airbnb experience I've ever had; incredibly hospitable hosts with a clean, welcoming home. I was able to do some laundry, clean up after a long hike, and chat with them over a delicious dinner. I would recommend staying here to anyone passing through!

Their home is a hidden gem in Lone Pine. George and Yvette were the nicest people we've ever met. Their house is cute and cozy and they even got a portable air conditioner for us! We visited Manazanar on their recommendation and we were so glad we went. They offered us food and we even spent the evening together drinking and watching a boxing fight. 10/10 would stay here again

Lone Pine was to me just a place to stay for a night on transit and turned into promised land, right after arrival!
