  • I had a fantastic time at Toyosato Guesthouse, a very friendly family run guesthouse. Close to everything. Large traditional Japanese room and the breakfast was excellent . Looking forward to going there again next year.

  • Unbelievable place to stay when in Nozawa Onsen. Excellent location and facilities, cosy and homely Will definitely be back

  • This is the best place to stay in nozawa! The food is amazing and it's a short walk to everything! You definitely feel like a local staying here with Miwa !

    Randle2020-01-29T00:00:00Z
  • The location of the homestay is about 3 minutes walk from the longboard ski resort, which is very convenient! The rooms are large and well-equipped. The breakfast is delicious. The host is very nice :)

  • Literally a 2 min walk to the base of Nagasaka gondola. Perfect location to slopes and restaurants and great host. Decent sized rooms, great breakfasts and has a drying room, which isn't mentioned. Miwa and family will definitely make your stay memorable.

    ChiWai2020-01-15T00:00:00Z
  • What a lovely place! Perfectly located close to ski slopes but also easy walk to shops, restaurants and onsen. Large comfortable room. And the breakfast was a highlight - I looked forward to it every day!

    Jess2019-12-23T00:00:00Z
  • We LOVED staying here. The host was amazing and made us feel at home (and came out to meet us when we got lost!). The traditional breakfast provided every morning was so delicious and exactly as pictured (something different everyday) with coffee and tea. Short walk from bus terminal and the main street. Absolutely loved staying here and would recomend and stay again !

  • I truly enjoyed my stay. Breakfast was especially good. I totally recommend this place!

The Newly renovated Nozawa Onsen Lodge offers a mix of cosy apartments and shared or private lodge rooms, all located located less than 100 meters from the main Gondola and only a short walk down into town.
The lodge is located near the Nagasaka Gondola around other lodges and a couple of cafes.
  • The room was small, which was expected for a single person stay. The bed was comfortable and the room was clean. Plenty of breakfast options and a kitchen at your disposal. Washing and drying facilities and a very short walk to the gondola. Very helpful host. Lots of local information. Great place to stay if you are on a budget.

    Ellen2020-02-21T00:00:00Z
  • This location is no more than 100 meters from the main Lodge, easy access to the main road with many restaurants and onsens as well. The manager is very friendly and the facilities are very clean.

    Max2020-01-05T00:00:00Z
  • Nice and clean interior for rooms and sharing space including bathrooms and fully equipped kitchen. Location is also good as just a few steps walk to gondola station and walkable to all around the town. You can have nice Public bath walking with their free lending shampoo and body soap. Hosts are very nice and friendly to take care of my room heat, which was very helpful in a summer hot day.

    Yukio2019-08-03T00:00:00Z
  • I enjoyed it very much in an interesting building. The town called Nozawa Onsen and the owners were all good and it was good. Arrival was late at night, but thinks that I do not have trouble in sightseeing because I took a bath. I recommend it.

    Kazuo2019-05-05T00:00:00Z
  • Helped me find the shuttle bus, was given a map of the area and great tips!

    Sean2019-05-01T00:00:00Z
  • This is a cozy ski lodge located steps away from the main gondola. I came here for some spring skiing so it was much quieter than I imagine it is in high season, but I can tell it is well set up to accommodate a full house. I enjoyed the use of the communal kitchen. Everything was clean and well looked after. I liked it so much I decided to extend my trip a few extra days. Thanks to Jack and Mica for a great stay!

    Ciara2019-04-04T00:00:00Z
  • Absolutely unbeatable location. Just around the corner from from the slopes and main gondola. The space is cute and clean, room is small but for the location and price unbeatable. There is a full kitchen available if you want to make something and there is a free washer/dryer available for use (¥100 for a laundry pod). WiFi is available throughout (I was a bit concerned since it wasn’t in the listing). Be aware the shower/bathroom is in the “basement” so you may be going up/down stairs a lot, especially in the single room which is on the top floor. Jack was very nice and gave me recommendations for Onsen to visit and rent ski equipment. They even have “wash buckets” with soap/shampoo you can take if you want to go to a public Onsen. Overall it was a wonderful experience. Highly recommend.

    Jordan2019-03-25T00:00:00Z
  • It was a late check-in, but I was able to enter and use smoothly. The unique architecture was fun just by looking around. We leave Oyu Dori, but it is just right distance for walk. You can enjoy the snow scene in a quiet residential area.

Ryokan-Warabino has 3 indoor baths and 1 open-air bath. You can command a view of Japan Alps from our guest room and open-air bath. Takayama Village is a member of “Most beautiful village in Japan” and called Switzerland in Japan with its spectacular scenery. Ryokan-Warabino is close to popular “Obuse” or “Snow Monkey Park”. You can also experience char grilled at Japanese style hearth, hot springs, and others.
There are beautiful garden view rooms.
A village deep in the mountains and called Switzerland in Japan. Spectacular scenery in Japan Alps, night scene of Nagano City is also beautiful.
  • Great service with drivers and incredible food

    Dexter2020-03-04T00:00:00Z
  • The quality of this Japanese style is second to none, from the moment we arrived to the morning we left the quality of service was terrific. Although there on hot spring bath was being repaired on the first day, we were provided entry into the public bath right next door. The quality of the traditional Japanese cuisine for dinner and was exceptional, breakfast was also very good. The traditional Japanese style room was quite large and very comfortable and the beds were laid out whilst we were at dinner. If you want to experience traditional Japanese hospitality, quality accommodation in a idyllic location and where your every need is taken care of I would highly recommend it. You will not be disappointed.

    Neil & Lily2020-03-02T00:00:00Z
  • We loved our stay at Ryokan Warobino. The staff went above and beyond to make us comfortable. Pro’s:The ryokan is situated in the countryside outside of Nagano. There are 4 onsens on the property. There is a private one that you can rent by the hour. There’s a super cute ski hill 20 min away. Con’s: That we couldn’t stay longer. Thanks again!!

    Melissa + Matt2020-02-29T00:00:00Z
  • If you are looking for an authentic ryokan experience away from tourists, book this place immediately. The complimentary shuttle was a huge plus, it is a bit of a trip out going from Nagano station on the local line to the station where the host picks you up, but totally worth it. The inn keepers will also bring you back and forth from the station that takes you to see the snow monkeys if you want but the times are limited to their regular shuttle schedule (10AM out of inn, 4 or 4:30 pick ups at station). Definitely make time for a dinner and breakfast as part of your stay, the cost is extra but you get a unique and thoughtfully prepared meal. The private onsen looking over the mountain is an unforgettable experience. We cannot recommend this experience enough!

    Abigail2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great stay and Ando and team really went out of their way to make us feel special. Would highly recommend a stay. Amazing food, amazing location anf amazing staff.

    Olof2020-02-20T00:00:00Z
  • Is a place that would highly recommend to stay The rooms are spacious, clean, comfortable, warm and would like to recommend. The onsen is beautiful and very private. If there is a chance we will definitely go back.

    Nuntawat2020-02-20T00:00:00Z
  • Ando went above and beyond to ensure we had a great trip! Amazing hospitality and amazing meals! Onsens were perfect way to unwind and we were lucky enough to see the snow! Once again thank you Ando for such a wonderful time!

    Abbey2020-02-18T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing place with great scenery! Breakfast and dinner a must-have, and there is to-and-fro transportation from Suzaka/Obtuse stations to the inn. There was slight communication in terms of the language, but the hosts remained patient with us nonetheless!

A locker is set for everyone, but please take care of your own valuables. We do not a have a bathroom here, please enjoy the public bath of Nozawa. We are going to sale towels, tooth brash.
This is NOZAWA!! Check it out! http://nozawakanko.jp/
  • Visited around the end of February this cozy place. Great atmosphere, nice private space for sleeping and a fantastic communal space where you can meet fellow travelers, drink tea and coffee for free. Taka, Yuji and Yuna were super kind hosts, Yuji especially helped me with solving some cumbersome issues and even got to ride together during some super pow days! You're right by the bus stop and only a short walking distance from one of Nozawa's chairlifts, which makes it a good location. A public onzen is also very close, open 5am to midnight, must try it as an early morning starter or definitely after a day's riding for muscle relaxation. Will definitely come back and stay at Taka's.

    Juan Cristóbal2020-02-27T00:00:00Z
  • Although it is a dormitory, it is covered with walls so it is not visible from the surroundings, and the warmth of the staff and the interaction with other guests became memorable memories ^ ^ Highly recommended!

    Saori2020-02-19T00:00:00Z
  • Great space to meet fellow travellers. The host is very thoughtful/attentive and can wax a snowboard the best! Great lift passes at reduced rates than on the slopes. It's out of the main Street by a 15-20 minute walk which I liked. Bus is available from end of street.

    Holly2020-02-08T00:00:00Z
  • Never written a review on here but thought I had to for Taka. Even though the snow was pretty average this season, staying here definitely made up for it. Taka and Yuji were absolutely amazing hosts - super kind and generous. The place is 5min walk out from town. 5 min from the lifts. Right outside the bus stop. The food here was amazing and really reasonably priced. Discounted lift passes were provided too! Definitely will stay here again if I am back in Nozawa! (I will :D)

  • Both Takka and Yugi were awesome, such high spirited people who made me feel very welcome. Takka even had gentemsticks for me to try out which was an added bonus! Plus, Takka was an amazing cook which I took full advantage of. Can’t wait to come back

  • This is a greatlocation with plenty of parking, just a few minutes walk from the nearest ski lift, and in good conditions you can ski back to the lodge, or at least very close. The staff are very friendly and knowledgeable about the local area. You can buy you lift tickets here for a small discount which is great. The food offered is wonderfully prepared and delicious, please communicate in advance for large groups. Highly recomended.

Only 50 metres to the slopes ! Kaiya Nozawa lodge is a favourite for many international guests. It has rooms to cater for individuals and groups with both private and share facilities. This room is a cosy & comfy Tatami room with bunk beds. Great for 1-2 people.
The front desk is manned by local bilingual staff from 8am to 7pm everyday in winter to help with anything you need. In summer they are also not far away and can give you all the information you need on buses, trains, tours, classes, restaurants, and the best places to eat and explore in the village and on the mountains. They have ski equipment and apparel for hire, organise local, authentic tours, and are now running Yoga retreats in the spring and summer months. All you need to do is get there - in fact they can help with transportation as well. This lodge is part of the Nozawa Holidays group run by Mark and Yosh who have lived in Nozawa for over 20 years. They work hard with a dedicated team offering a truly unique experience resulting in guests returning time and time again.
Mark and Yoshiko’s lodges are located in Nozawaonsen-mura, Shimotakai-gun, Nagano-ken, Japan. Nozawa Onsen is a traditional Japanese Village steeped in culture - once you visit you will want to come back again and again. It is a special place with beautiful mountains, amazing rejuvenating hot springs, delicious food and friendly people. A great destination to relax and enjoy rural Japan. Nozawa Onsen has something for everyone. From the mountain peaks on a clear day you can see the sunset in to the ocean. The skiing is second to none with its roomy slopes and high snow fall. For those not skiing, the hikes, yoga, kayaking and mountain biking tracks, to name a few, are all at your door step. Cultural and culinary experiences are a plenty. And the majestic snow monkeys located in the Yudanaka National Park are one of the most incredible animals you will ever see in the wild. Remember the Nozawa Holidays team can organise any of your tours, transfers or equipment- just make a note with your booking.
  • I would recommend Mark and Yoshiko's place to anyone. Staff and other guest were very friendly and nice. The place was super clean. The location is superb and the breakfast was a awesome touch and delicious. The place was quiet and one of the most peaceful places I've ever stayed. The sounds of the springs was very soothing. Overall Mark and Yoshiko's place was perfect place for me, and I hope to return soon!

  • Nathan and his wife are great hosts, very helpful and response in both accommodation purposes and local tips.

    Hugh2019-05-03T00:00:00Z
  • SUCH AN AMAZING EXPERIENCE! Nathan and Akiko made our stay so so easy and lovely! The breakfast is really delicious - Akiko is an amazing cook! We were about to hire ski gear, get lift passes etc so easily which took a lot of stress out of the trip. Great location - good distance to slopes (400m walk) and to Main Street (400m). Would 100% stay again

  • I was really impressed with the whole experience at the lodge. The staff were always there to help and if I was to visit Nozawa Onsen again I would be more than happy to stay there. Also the service of the ski rental and lessons were great as all managed within the group which makes things simple! Thanks

  • What a gem of a spot! Super friendly and helpful hosts who did everything to help in answering questions, getting us to the slopes and help with renting gear, food suggestions and onsen’s. We’ll definitely be back!

  • This place is incredible! The place is so well presented and Kain and staff are always willing to help. We had 5 nights here and wished we had more. Thanks Kain!

    Jack2019-03-12T00:00:00Z
  • Kain always went out of his way to make sure we were comfortable and always had good advice . Nozawa Peaks was very comfortable and close to the slopes , with even great ski hire next door and popular restaurants beside that . Great Value and would highly recommend.

  • Awesome place to stay and cleaner and nearer than some homes I’ve stayed in the area. Great location with bars and restaurants right outside the door. Only downfall was no parking and I had to pay, but it was noted in the booking section. Definitely recommend.

    Ashley Laura2019-01-21T00:00:00Z
  • Located in Nakao which is a short 7 minute walk to the nice cafes, bars and restaurants. Rooms are tidy, spacious and all you need. The drying room is great if you plan on doing some skiing or snowboarding. The communal facilities are all kept immaculate and the lounge area is a nice touch of traditional Japanese dining. Overall amazing value for money and great location right below the ski lift. Nakao Onsen is a 1 minute walk and a must do if you’re staying here.

    Casey2018-03-31T00:00:00Z
  • Great comfy accomodation in a location you can walk to ski lifts, middle of town and onsens. Kain is a great host and helped us settle in and figure everything out about the town. 10/10 Would stay again.

    Jarrod2018-03-20T00:00:00Z
  • All we can say is Wow! This newly renovated share accommodation is by far the best we’ve stayed in. Amazing amenities, clean cozy and comfy rooms, complete with an onsen kit! There is also an authentic Japanese style common room complete with a gorgeous kotatsu which is just perfect to relax under after a long day of snowboarding. The host, Kain is an awesome guy, full of local knowledge and info about the slopes. He provides maps, info booklets and a list of his favourite places to eat, which were all delicious! A perfect place to stay for our first visit to Nozawaonsen, can’t wait to come back next year!

    Yvette2018-03-10T00:00:00Z
  • Awesome! Can recommend this to anyone. Great hospitality and perfect with Kain explaining where to go, what to do's and how to behave in the many local (and free!) onsens (hot springs).

  • Great location to the slopes and Onsen! We loved our stay! The beds were comfortable and everything was clean. Felt like home. Also, the staff was all very friendly and helpful! Another benefit is that they had our rental gear delivered so it was easy and faster to get to the slopes.

We are a ski lodge operating in Nozawa Onsen since 2015, in the middle of this traditional Japanese village, 650 meters to the ski resort. This is a Japanese style room (tatami&futons), bathroom&toilette are shared with guests of other rooms. Breakfast (mixed Western & Japanese, buffet style) is included in the room rate! We have 6 rooms of this type available, please inquiry if you need more than 1 room.
Japanese style room (13 square meters), with tatami and futons (no western style beds are available). The room can host up to 4 guests, although at full occupancy the space would certainly be a bit tight (but the ski wear can be left in the communal drying room), so we recommend it for up to 3 guests. The room has no private toilette or bathroom, as both toilette and bathroom are shared with guests from other rooms. Breakfast (mixed Western & Japanese, buffet style) is included in the room rate! We have 6 rooms of this type available, please inquiry if you need more than 1 room.
We are in the middle of Nozawa Onsen, a few minutes' walk away from the main shopping street with most restaurants and bars, 300 meters from the closest ski slope (the one connecting Nagasaka area with Karasawa area), and 650 meters to the Nagasaka Gondola, one of the main lifts of the ski resort. The nearest onsen (Japanese style hotspring) is 2 minutes' walk away.
  • The host was very kind and enjoyed skiing. Thank you very much!

  • We were a group of 4 sharing and it was a bit cramped as mentioned. Location is great and the breakfast is super convenient when you're getting up early to hit the mountain, otherwise I'd head into town. This is not a place to sleep in though as it can get noisey early. Staff are friendly and helpful. Overall we'd stay here again

The view from the common space & chambers is really good, and the ski resort is at 1 min. In summary, I had the opportunity to lodge in a lot of awesome lodges in several places in the world, but this one will let a very unique memory in my mind.

  • This place is centrally located, quite warm, and the staff is friendly and ready to help your stay go smoothly. It was a bigger space and lower cost than competing hotels, and it seems the management is well-organized. The rooms seem new, clean, and all the amenities needed are available. Would be a repeat customer for sure!

Kaiya Nozawa lodge is a favourite for many international guests. It has rooms to cater for individuals and groups with both private and share facilities. This room is a Japanese style Tatami room with comfortable Futons. Great for families, or groups of 3 to 4 people. Japan in general is an easy and safe place to travel around and getting to Nozawa is very easy with public transport. Just 3 hours from Tokyo.
  • Clean, comfortable and homely lodge. The staff are amazing and make you feel right at home. Breakfast each day was lovely. Can't wait to stay again!

  • The room was very clean and tidy, and it was already warm before we arrived. Public facilities are also relatively complete, especially the showers and washrooms are very new. The surrounding dining and shopping hot springs are basically 5-10 minutes walking distance, and this year's ski season can be considered for another stay.

  • The BEST AirBnB host I have ever met! The sweet couple went above and beyond in accomodating me. From picking me up at the Station to dropping me off to the snowmonkey resort, providing landmark spots and them booking me for my bus for my departure date as i cannot speak japanese. If you ever want to visit the snowmonkey i highly recommend going with this one because they will pick you up and drop you off to the place which will actually save you money and they will also help you beyond their duties as a host. I am truly touch by their kindness. The whole facility is also beautiful <3

  • I had a perfect stay at Mr Shuichi’s guesthouse. The room was clean and in good size. The blankets were warm and the beds were super comfy. The night and morning snow view outside the window was fantastic. Mr Shuichi responded immediately to our questions and offered to pick us up at the station as we did not rent the car. He also drove us to the nearby restaurant and local onsen at night. The sukiyaki place he recommended was amazing and we loved it very much. He also mapped out the detail route of our next destination and drove us to the station, making sure we are in perfect hands with the tickets before leaving. I highly recommend Mr Shuichi’s guesthouse if you are travelling to Nagano. :)

    Magdalena2020-02-13T00:00:00Z
  • Excellent stay. Very homely feel with Mr Shuichi San and wife taking care of you. Let's start of by reviewing the accommodation. 5 stars for the cleanliness. Very comfortable beds and decent size room. Mr Shuichi San takes care of very small details like making sure that the bathrooms are cleaned again after the previous guest have used it before your use. There were several Japanese travellers, friends, mother daughters, during our stay. I always think that if locals choose to stay, it must be good, and I am right. Mr Shuichi San offered to pick us up at the train station upon our arrival as we did not rent a car. He also offered to drive us straight to the snow monkey park the next morning. Really very thoughtful as getting there by ourselves may not be easy. On the last day as we checked out, Mr Shuichi San even helped us mapped out the detailed travel schedule to Masumoto castle and Daio Wasabi farm, evening planning some time for lunch. Recognizing that we are on a very tight schedule, we couldn't have manage to make the round trip within a day without his detailed planning. Overall a very excellent stay. Can't ask for more.

  • Perfect place in rural japan with an incredibly hospitable host. Highly recommend

    Michael2020-01-28T00:00:00Z
  • Suichi has a lovely home and he is indeed a lovely host! It's a shame that we did not get to see the snow monkeys in autumn (we studied the webcam for 2 weeks, and not many monkeys came down!) but still, our stay at Kanoka guesthouse was great. Suichi went through all the trouble to plan our plan B trip to Kurobe Gorge and to Shirakawago according to the timetables of 4 different modes of transportation! Tq Suichi!

    Roziana2019-11-16T00:00:00Z
  • Shuichi’s guest house was lovely it was sparkling clean and modern. Shuichi was very friendly and so helpful, he picked us up from the train station, dropped us off at the snow monkey park and helped us to know which buses and trains to get to our next location. We would really recommend staying.

She was so helpful and always explained things we needed to know in great detail and patience. The ryokan was spacious and well-kept, and within a 5 minute walking distance to the ski resort - an extremely convenient location. • A total of seven friends and family members used the ski trip. The location and facilities of the cottage are almost as described in the listing. Almost everything we needed was clean and the heating was warm without any problems (we bring bath towels, paper towels and tissue). The fact that the entrance and clog box space is large, and that we could store the skis and snow boots for the number of people with plenty of space was saved. We had you explain very carefully at the time of check-in and were saved. It looks good in summer, so I would like to use it again with my family.

The center of town is about a five minute walk and provides a further variety of bars and restaurants. Getting to the mountain: 1. Shinyu Pair Lift - about a ten minute walk; provides a scenic ride up through the trees to the Hikage area. 2. Yu-road - about a twelve minute walk; a moving sidewalk that takes you from the village to the Hikage Gondola. 3. Shuttle Bus - about a five to seven minute walk to the bus stop in the center of the village; provides service to Nagasaka Gondola.

  • Loved staying here. Great location. Ultra comfortable beds. Great host suggestions for restaurants. Excellent stay in Nozawa, highly recommend.

  • Thanks Chris, Kana William and Sakura ! A very helpful and welcoming family, who showed us right to our door and helped us get settled. We had everything we needed for our big family of 8 and were able to do big cook ups before a day on the slopes. We LOVED Nozawa Onsen ! Easy walking everywhere and tried 3 different onsens closest to us. Will definitely be back.

    Laura2020-01-11T00:00:00Z
  • Chris's place is a lovely, modern and spacious apartment (in Japanese standards) only 10 mins walk uphill to the Hikage lift access. We travelled with five adults and three young children and found the apartment worked well for our needs with one child and adult staying home/ not skiing each day and therefore needing some extra space. The location is good - public onsen across the road, main street about 5 mins walk and plenty of great restaurants and bars nearby. Note the walk into town and to the slopes is uphill so may not be appropriate for those less abled/ wheelchairs and prams. The apartment has three bedrooms and a lounge room/ kitchen. It was well stocked with cooking essentials, washing detergent, toiletries and fresh towels. Chris was an excellent host arranging a cot/ highchair, transfers, dinner bookings and helped with our luggage transfer to/from the airport - he exceeded what you would expect from an AirBnb host. Highly recommend for a five-star apartment experience. Thanks Chris!

  • There was a hot spring in front of me and I was able to relax.

  • The apartment is very nice and comfortable. There are a few onsens just within door steps of the apartment. Nice and cosy for families and groups. Chris was very friendly and accommodating. Chris shared with us some local tips and was kind enough to share with us his ski season pass.

  • Mai-san and Shiro-san are outstanding hosts and I can't thank them enough for their hospitality. Hiro-san, their helper, is also outstanding and helped provide answers for questions and resources I might need. Mai-san and Shiro-san were very helpful in arranging schedules and booking the snow monkey tour for me and Hiro-san is great to hang out with and gave many good recommendations in terms of food and DRINKS. Kadoya Backpackers Base is amazing for the solo traveler or for small groups traveling together. You get a bunk bed per person and the home is very cozy. If you're here to enjoy the mountain, the free shuttle bus to the main gondola (Nagasaka gondola) is a literal 45 second walk from the house. Getting into the main street of town is also very easy; a mere ten minute walk will get you into the heart of everything. There's also a free, local onsen just up the road if you want to enjoy the hot springs and it won't be as crowded there as the ones closer into town. Overall, if you're looking for a place to stay in Nozawa, you can't beat Kadoya's. I'm definitely coming back next season when I get vacation again, and hopefully there will be a bed for me here.

  • Thank you for hosting me I had a great time. You were both really welcoming and treated me to local tips and spots to visit which was really handy. Shiro and I had quite a few laughs over the days which I really appreciated. For other travellers you will experience a home stay vibe with the shuttle bus at the door to town or a short walk away which I prefer. Recommend staying, I was here for a few more nights than planned. Would visit again too if I make it back to Nozawaonsen.

Price incl Room n 2meals - delicious dinner n breakfast. We serve trad Japanese n Italian cuisine. 4 Western n 1 Tatami room(5rms) w/ private toilet. We have 3 listings pls check if this has no rooms. The house is located in the countryside n surrounded by a forest. 2hours fm Tokyo. 4hours fm Kyoto. This place is a non-touristy part. 15min by car fm JR Iiyama Shinkansen station(pickup available). In winter you can ski closeby. Many Onsen are located nearby. We can arrange transportation.
Basically one room is prepared for one or two guests. Each room has a washbasin and a private toilet w/ a washlet. The rooms are without a private bathroom but have a toilet. Bathroom and shower room are shared with guests of other rooms. We are a private BnB in the middle of mountain and not a 5 star Hotel in the big city, the house is always completely tidy and cleaned but it's a small house we live in, sometimes we have little things to fix as for example you may see little bugs, you may feel the smell of the oil heater is strong. We will pick you up at Iiyama station around or after 3pm. Check in time is 3pm.
Japan in general is an easy place to travel around. Getting to Kijimadaira is easy with Shinkansen. You can buy JR pass in your country. It is less than 2 hours from Tokyo to Iiyama. Just 4 hours from Kyoto. It is less than 80min. from Kanazawa. Just 15min. drive from Iiyama station to my house. You can come right now. 30 minutes by bus from Iiyama station to the Snow Monkey Park. Only 11minutes from Nagano station with Zenkoji to Iiyama station. Kijimadaira is a small village located between Nozawa onsen and Snow monkey park in the north of Nagano pref. My house is up on a hill with city views. Surrounded by forests and very quiet and peaceful. Nozawa onsen and the Snow monkey park are crowded with many tourists like Tokyo, but the surroundings of my house is peaceful. There are no shops and restaurants around my house, there are only forests and fields. There may be opportunities to meet foxes and raccoons. If necessary, we will take you to a supermarket or convenience store.

  • My family really enjoyed our stay here. We live in Japan and so didn't expect to be wowed by the food, but the food truly is exceptional. We have dietary restrictions and are very grateful that the hosts accommodated us. Having meals prepared for us made for a really relaxing trip. We usually go to Nagano by car. Because the hosts pick us up and drop us off we were grateful to be able to visit this area without having to drive. We also enjoyed meeting other guests in the dining area. The area is great for visiting Nozawa Onsen, skiing and the snow monkeys. My kids are already asking to go back. We hope to visit again for beetle hunting in the summer.

  • My stay and trip with Yoshi-San was exceptionally better than I would have ever imagined. He is not your typical Air b&b host where you rarely see your host. Yoshi-San will pick you up, make you breakfast and dinner, and double checks your schedule for the rest of your stay— that way he can schedule out a timeline of when to take you to the station and when/where to pick you up. You can tell that Yoshi-San has done this professionally for quite some time. It’s not only him of course, his wife will pop up here and there and help make the breakfast and dinner for us. Their food is definitely 5 star restaurant quality. Yoshi-san is very humble and I thought his English was good enough for me to have a fun conversation with him. I had no problem communicating with him and we understood each other quite well. As for lodging, I couldn’t complain at all. We had a beautiful, snow filled view of the mountains and trees. We had 2 beds for 2 people. A private toilet and electric heater for the room. We are from Okinawa and it wasn’t as cold as I thought it would be in the rooms/house. You will not regret booking a stay at Yoshi-Sans home. I highly recommend his place!

  • Mr Yoshihiro and his family are kind and helpful. He is one of the best host in airbnb. We enjoy our time in his house. Mr Yoshihiro picked up us in JR station and take us to go Ski center and Onsen. It’s wonderful time to live in. Mr Yoshihiro is a great chef and prepare breakfast and dinner are amazing and full of memories. Sean Chan Hong Kong

  • Look no further and book now!!! Yoshihiro's place exceeded all of my expectations and staying with him and his family was one of the highlights of my trip! I was visiting to snowboard at Nozawaonsen and Yoshihiro helped me to get on the shuttle daily and gave me a ride to a local onsen at night. His recommendations were spot on and provided me with a unique experience. Also, his cooking was exceptional!!! A restaurant quality experience at home! His communication, service, cooking and knowledge of the local area were top notch. I would absolutely stay with his family again and give him my highest recommendation!

    Pat2020-02-04T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing value for money, Yoshihiro and his wife made our stay in Iiyama seamless and unforgetable. Both the breakfast and dinner services were spectacular, every meal was made up of a minimum of 4 delicious hand made dishes prepared with care and experience . His house was cosy and warm, beds were comfotable and the local knowledge he shared was vital for getting the most out of Iiyama. Even if you aren't in the area, I highly recommend going out of your way to stay a few nights with Yoshihiro, it will be worth it.

    Tim2020-01-29T00:00:00Z
  • Yoshihiro san and Rieko san went above and beyond for us. We were welcomed so warmly into their lovely home and served dinner on entry after a long train ride which was just what we felt like! Yoshihiro san helped us organise how to get to Nozawa Onsen for snowboarding and gave us rides to and from the bus stop and the local outdoor onsen. We feel very fortunate to have met Yoshihiro san and Rieko san and we will definitely be back for a longer stay! This bnb was the highlight of Japan - book your stay here and enjoy the quieter side of Japan. Thank you Yoshihiro san and Rieko san, if you visit New Zealand you have a home here!

  • Yoshirou was friendly and warm. He picked us up from the local station and drove us to the house. He made us tea and we drank it in the lovely common space in front of the fire. Our room was very cute and warmed quickly with the heater. Yoshirou offered to drive us to local onsen and restaurant streets. We chose to walk to the nearest onsen for a bath (5-10min wander). The onsen seemed to be ok for a single point 20cm tattoo but we didn't see an official policy so your mileage might vary. Afterward Yoshirou drove us to around the station where we had dinner. Although the streets were very quiet during the day, at night there were several restaurants open. Hakko was delicious and a little expensive, and D-Line was a lively bar with lots of types of food. When we were finished we wrang Yoshirou and he picked us up quickly. We had a great time.

    Jake2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • The host is a very nice person. The station pick-up is very beautiful and will take you to the nearby hot spring and monkey park. Finally, I will pick you up at the park and return to the station.

  • I like this homestay very much and can experience traditional Japanese rural homes. The landlord Mr. Fang Lang is very friendly! I recommend to all tourists who want to live in Yudanaka! Much liked the place, experiencing the most typical Japanese rural style living! Host Yoshirou San is a really friendly and nice person, I would recommend his place to anyone who wants to stay at Yodanaka for Shiga Kogen and Monkey Park!

  • We were a group of 7 people for the Nozawa Onsen trip. We spent a great time during the stay at Akari bright 4bedroom apartment. The apartment has state of the art design by our host Gabriel. It was our cozy home & perfect for a group like us since we did cooking & party almost every night. Gab has been very helpful, patient & responsive to what we need from the booking through the end of the stay. The pizza we ordered from Askari Swiss Bakery downstairs was very delicious. Gab has a nice crew providing excellent service for our ski tour as well. We look forward to coming back to Nozawa & staying at Akari apartment again.

  • We are a group of 2 families , total 10 persons occupying the 4BR and 1 studio. What’s describe in the writeup is accurate. The house is conveniently located near to the bus stop, Onsen etc. it’s also a 10 to 15 min flat walk to the town. We like the Swiss designed concept of the woody apartments, and the little things that go behind the design of the apartment and layout. On the first day of the ski sessions, Gabriel was so helpful to drive the team up to orientate themselves to the surroundings. We were grateful. Gab also help us to coordinate with our transport, tour groups and the ski matters. We really appreciate . Hi Gabriel, thanks for being a great host. We would definitely come back to stay with you again. Gab a

  • Such a wonderful little (yet surprisingly big) place to stay if your headed skiing or, like us, to see the snow monkeys. The setting is absolutely stunning and the guys here go above and beyond to help. The rooms are spotless and cosy, we had never slept on a futon before but it was such a nice experience - the idiot proof instructions make it easy to set up. The restaurant / cafe area has a great social feel and the food was amazing. I would highly recommend walking from the station to the Ryoken as there is so much beauty in the area. We visited the private onsen as it came recommended and it was so worth it! Thank you so much for our night away from the hustle and bustle of the big cities.

Although it is not in the house, it is very convenient to have a car to pick it up. The food in the restaurant is delicious. The reception staff at the front desk are so cute. You may get your mountain bikes and other accessories at Compass House Nozawa (located at Nagasaka gondola). | For ski equipment rental during the winter, we highly recommend Sports Thanx (Nagasaka gondola) or St Anton (Hikage gondola). The shops will store your equipment overnight including the boots, so no need to carry everything back to the house, super practical! And the next morning everything is dry and warm.
  • Highly recommended if you're after a place by the mountain.

  • Excellent host. Always responds quickly to questions and provides helpful tips. Nice house and good location.

  • Kalik House was perfect for our group of 6. Hisako was very pleasant and went out of her way to meet us on arrival and show us through the accommodation. Location is great with a short walk to the gondola and even closer to the bars and restaurants. Hisako even organised for us to park our car in the neighbouring property which was also very nice.

  • Great location and host. The property served us very well. Two upstairs bedrooms (one big) and a small one downstairs. We also used the living space as another bedroom. Very nice and homey, would recommend and stay again.

    Annette2020-01-30T00:00:00Z
  • Everything you need with all the mod cons; host Hisako was friendly and responsive; and a fantastic location for restaurants, bars, shops, and hitting the slopes. We really enjoyed our stay in beautiful Nozawaonsen thanks to Hisako and her lovely home.

    Natasha2020-01-09T00:00:00Z
  • Nice private house for family ski vacation. We can cook and children can have their own time. Very convenient, the Onsen is also very near, so do the market.

    Seah2020-01-01T00:00:00Z
  • Great hosts. Very very helpful when a typhoon caused the bullet train to be cancelled. We went there in the off season and found a quiet lovely village. The place itself is a good mix of modern facilities and traditional feel.

    Paul2019-10-26T00:00:00Z
  • Large kitchen and abundant tableware. I brought wine and cooked slowly. There is a hot spring nearby, so you can relax at a reasonable distance from the center. It was very convenient to have two toilets and showers.

Akari House is only 50 meters up the road from Nakao free public Onsen. All rooms are comfortable and spacious. In a great area of the Village just 200m to the slopes and an easy flat stroll into the centre of the village.
This little apartment is great for a couple which likes to have its own private space. There another little nook to sleep in and gives a family of 3 or max 4 the chance to have a comfortable space still. Newly renovated this summer there is a double bed, a single and an additional mattress on the floor can be prepared. You will have your own room with bathroom and a little kitchen unit, living room and shower space. Great views and a lot of daylight in all the rooms, including living and kitchen area. Local timber has been used for the newly renovated rooms and gives it a nice and warm feel.
The Onsen, free public bathhouse, is just 50 meters down the road from your apartment. 200 Meters to the first chair lift and easy 10 minute stroll into the main centre of town.
  • This listing is so good. I made wonderful experience with Akari Hostel. All of employees is very kind and helpful. And food is delicious. The listing exceeded my expectations. I will always stay if I have the opportunity. Thanks Gab!! Nice Host!!

  • Absolutely wonderful apartment in the heart of Nozawa. I've been to Nozawa three times now and this is by far the best accommodation I have stayed in. Gab and his family are super welcoming and will help you feel the warmth of the Nozawa community. Super cosy and clean not to mention the smell of fresh bread baking in the shop below. Will definitely be back!

    Liz2019-12-06T00:00:00Z
  • Akari house was AMAZING! Communication with Gab was great, always quick to reply and help. He also picked us up from the bus station which was nice especially when travelling with a baby. Akari house was such a beautiful place to stay, it had everything you need, and even has a public onsen less than 5 mins away. There is also a bakery at akari house but unfortunately it was undergoing renovations while we are there so we missed out on some nice pastries! Would definitely come back and stay at akari house in the future.

  • Gabriel was very kind and showed us a lot of neat tips and tricks to navigate through the village as if we were locals, in his family and his friends all made us feel very welcome and at home and the room was spectacular as well

    Gagan2019-09-10T00:00:00Z
  • We enjoyed our summer stay at Gab’s apartment. We were able to do so many activities with young kids with his recommendations and help. Gab went out of his way to arrange some of the activities for us like paddle boarding. We would definitely stay here again for a summer or winter vacation!

    Julie2019-08-12T00:00:00Z
  • Gab is a very kind and perfect host. The room is very clean, equipped with goods you would need during the stay and close to anywhere. We would like to come back in summer or winter

  • It is a good old house in Japan. It's only a 5-minute walk from the station. In addition, it is recommended to walk slowly while seeing the treasures of Joetsu Takada, the best gang tree street in Japan. There are easy-to-understand signs, so I found it immediately. I went around early March, so it was comfortable with hot water and heating. There is a sign cat called Kuro-chan, so I sometimes visit the room, but it was a cat group and I enjoyed it very much. The shower and toilet were excellent cleanliness. Lisa's hospitality was great. The morning coffee was a treat too. I will take care again. A Japanese-style Nagaya-style cultural guesthouse. Jintakada Station is a guesthouse that can be reached immediately. It is very easy to find the first and second-hand passengers outside the guesthouse. Right and left Joetsu in the beginning of March, about 4 degrees left and right, hot and cold water in a guest house, cold feeling at bedtime. • We came to ski meters of powder ... and there was not a single snowflake. However, we still had a great stay. Our immense disappointment due to the snow conditions was largely compensated by Lisa's unique hospitality, her advice and good addresses, all in an authentic setting. For convenience, the accommodation is very well located, close to the train station and shops. Also note that the accommodation is perfectly clean.

Nozawa House is an amazing self contained 3 bedroom house where you can ski back to the door and still only a 300m walk to the centre of the village. Amazing views from the living areas and bedrooms. Warm wooden feel and can see the chair lift running above the river behind the house. Great for families or groups of friends. Japan in general is an easy and safe place to travel around and getting to Nozawa is very easy with public transport. Just 3 hours from Tokyo.
--- Beautiful Self Contained House --- Arguably set in the best position in the Village. Both green season and snow season. In winter you can ski back to the door in Summer it is surrounded by forest and a cool creek to swim in just behind the house. All this and with no immediate neighbors enjoy a private, tranquil holiday escape. Just the noise of the mountain stream flowing by! Enjoy magnificent views out over the forest, ski lifts and across the valley and village. Hot spring is just 50m from the front door – perfect after a hard day hiking or mountain biking. This lodge is part of the Nozawa Holidays group run by Mark and Yosh who have lived in Nozawa for over 20 years. They work hard with a dedicated team offering a truly unique experience resulting in guests returning time and time again.
Nozawa Onsen is like a true Japanese ski resort Shangri-La. From the mountain peaks on a clear day you can see the sun set into the ocean. The town has some amazing traditional architecture with Temples, Hot Spring Houses, and traditional Inns. It is an amazing ski resort town in Winter and a relaxing mountain and farming village in the green season. With great hiking, mountain biking and food to enjoyed.
  • The house is wonderful even during koyo (autumn red leaves). It's big and comfortable for a large group of people. The house had a fully equipped large kitchen so it's suitable for cooking. Definitely recommended for a long stay

    Elena2019-11-04T00:00:00Z
  • The living-dining kitchen was wide and easy to use, and each bedroom was comfortable in the Utori space.

    Afro23ago2019-09-09T00:00:00Z
  • There was an outdoor hot spring (Takinoyu) within a 1-minute walk, and I was able to enjoy it every day for a week. The room is clean and large enough. Because of the sun, it will be very hot from 14: 00-17: 30, but it is very cool and comfortable in the morning and evening. Please change bath towels or dispose of garbage when necessary. I would also like to stay here when I come to Nozawa Onsen Village.

  • We had a great time staying in the cottage for a week in July. It was ideal for our family of two adults and three kids. The kitchen is well kitted out and the living space is pleasant. There's a nice double room on the third floor, living and common spaces on the middle floor and the bunk room and tatami room on the bottom floor. It's close to town and to the main ski lifts. Definitely recommended. Our hosts were very welcoming.

  • Nice place, beautiful house

    Yiu Chi2019-06-21T00:00:00Z
  • The house was exactly as it was pictured. We had a great stay and Mark and Yoshiko were super easy to deal with and were always accommodating to our requests. The walk into town is only about 10 min, but there is a serious hill on the way back...not a big deal for us, but if you were traveling with older people they might have an issue with it.

  • A chilled out and welcoming venue. Simple, but had all we needed! We showered every day in a different local onsen which was a great experience. Do your self a favour and have Takas sukiyaki for dinner one night!

  • I had a very good stay there. The value for money is unbeatable for Nozawa. The food is super good and the alcohol too! Taka the boss and Yuuji are lovely hosts. I spent a great time there. Best value for Nozawa. The food is great and the sake too! The boss, Taka and Yuuji are super nice hosts. め ち ゃ め ち ゃ 楽 し か っ た! あ り が と う ご ざ い ま す ~

  • The amount of thoughtful touches is impossible to write down here - I was a bit nervous about a bunk style place, but you have so much privacy that it never felt like an issue. I met my ski partner for the trip on my first night, facilitated for sure by the communal atmosphere. You can get your ski pass here, they’ll hook you up with a deal for a local rental shop, and give you all the tips you need. I’ll be back.

    Griff2020-01-04T00:00:00Z
  • The boss is very cordial and interesting. He is a senior ski master. He occasionally talks with the tenants about the wine and drives away the tiredness of skiing all day. The place to stay is a little far from the downtown area, but take a walk every day to go to the soup to eat, you can also see the beautiful evening scenery. Walking to the cable car station is not too far, about 5-10 minutes, just can be used to warm up. In general, it is considered to be medium above the standard of the backpack house.

Only 50 metres to the slopes! Kaiya Nozawa lodge is a favourite for many international guests. It has rooms to cater for individuals and groups with both private and share facilities. This room is a Japanese style Tatami room with a combination of traditional futons and bunk beds. Great for families, or groups of 3 to 4 people.

  • Super helpful, flexible and accommodating hosts. English speaking. They are very familiar with everything you need to know about the village. It's a small village, so we bumped into them randomly while walking around and they're always ready to help recommending places to go or eat. Definitely feels like living with an older brother/sister.
