  • Alexa is a wonderful host and is willing to accommodate to your needs in order to ensure that you have the best stay possible! I highly recommend her for your next AirBnB! Everything was above and beyond what I expected.

  • Alexa is one of the best hosts that I have ever had the pleasure of interacting with! The thoughtful touches and personal gifts really set her apart. She went out of her way to make my family and I feel welcome. Communicating with her was so easy and she was quick to respond! She also worked with us on the check-in time since we were driving a long distance through half the night with a two-year old and let us check in early! The cabin was so clean and very well decorated! It was well-equipped with everything you could possibly want for a family vacation. It is conveniently located as well. My family and I have been coming up to the Northwoods for most of my life and I am so glad we found a new place to call home. It truly was the PERFECT experience!!

  • This Place is trUly AmaZing!! Everything as expected and so much more. We spent hours on the lake with the Kayaks, paddle boat and floating carpet...kids had a fabulous time!! The cabin is so cozy and welcoming and the welcoming bottle of wine, fresh flowers and bucket of goodies for S’mores by the fire was a hit with the kids!! Local area is quiet and quaint and friendly. North Star resort down the road let us come and enjoy their beach for the day......hiked the lost 40 loop and even drove a bit to see the Bears as suggested. Great fun! Many family memories were made! We’d loVe to go back!!!

  • From the moment we drove into the driveway, we knew we would have a great vacation, and we did! Alexa had everything we needed for a fun and relaxing stay: kayaks, board games, yard games, a hammock, a fire pit, even coffee and a bottle of wine! The lake is gorgeous and water is crystal clear. The kids spent hours swimming from the aqua mat, and my husband spent hours fishing. Alexa even has a fish cleaning room! I think this may be the first vacation I have taken where we stayed active but i wasn't exhausted when it was over. It was perfect.

    Shaun2019-08-03T00:00:00Z
  • This is the perfect Northern Minnesota getaway! If I could give it 10 out of 5 stars, I absolutely would. Alexa was an excellent host, left us a bottle of wine and note, which was a great touch! Even for a small town in northern Minnesota there was plenty to do. We had a blast on the kayaks and playing yard games, and the lake was way more perfect than I expected. Had all the amenities a group could need! I definitely recommend this place for your next vacation, I know we'll be coming back next year!

    Ryan2019-07-21T00:00:00Z
  • Alexa is very helpful in answering all questions about the cabin. My family had fun playing yard games as well as water activities.

  • This lake home was a lovely place to spend a long summer weekend and was full of amenities and small touches to make my friends and I feel welcome. Alexa was accommodating to our travel needs and worked hard to ensure we enjoyed our stay

    Maxwell2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely log cabin with rustic decor and quality craftsmanship. Cabin was very clean and warmed up when we arrived on a chilly November day. Cabin faces west on Caribou Lake which provides for great views of the lake and sunsets from the Cabin or the deck. Peg was a great host. Great communicator and always in touch if we needed her or had any questions or concerns she was a text or phone call away. Appliances all worked just fine that are included in the listing.

The most friendly and accommodating hosts - offering up their kayaks, canoe and paddle boat for our use on the most perfectly clear and calm lake. Perfect swimming area for the kids with a huge dock to hang out at! We will be back again!

    Kallie2019-07-24T00:00:00Z
  • This cabin at Buckhorn on Caribou Lake Log Lodges was a lovely spot to spend a few days of vacation in July. We enjoyed spending lots of time relaxing on the dock and the deck of this cabin, admiring the lake and listening to the loon calls. Would highly recommend as a Northern MN getaway!

    Julia2019-07-06T00:00:00Z

New handcrafted cedar log cabin. This tiny cabin is 40 feet from Caribou lake. Full kitchen, bathroom with shower, in floor heat, three season screen porch. If you’re intrigued with tiny living this is the place you can try it out. Year round cabin for two. Swim, fish, hike, mountain bike in the summer, hunt in the fall, cross county ski the Suomi hills in the winter and mushroom hunt and fish in the spring. A great place to get away from it all.
Drive through the Chippewa National forest scenic byway 38 through the Suomi Hills wildlife, ski and hiking area. Located just north of the Continental divide all waters run north from here. That explains the 40 feet lake clarity. Access to canoe, rowboat, kayak. Or bring your own boat and keep it at the dock just feet from the cabin. Screen porch and we own a couple neighboring cabins so if your friends want to come along there are options.
  • This tiny house was perfect for a weekend getaway.

    Megan2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • The love nest on Caribou is my favorite place! It’s perfect for a quiet weekend away with your significant other enjoying the beauty of northern Minnesota! There are cross country ski and snowshoe trails nearby and it’s right on the lake. You can enjoy beautiful sunsets and just relax here. This was our second time visiting and we can’t wait to go back!

    Erin2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • Even after reading all reviews, we were not ready for how cute this cabin is. Came up here for Valentine's Day weekend and it was the perfect little romantic cabin! Part of us wishes it was not winter, such that we could enjoy the 3-season patio. But there is something about sitting in your warm cabin while it's cold outside with snow-covered trees. The drive from Grand Rapids to the cabin is beautiful, the location on Caribou lake is absolutely grogeous and the cabin itself is just cozy and the cutest little place ever. Relating to some (one) negative reviews: The temperature outside went to zero, but inside the thermostat works perfectly and we were never cold (actually we accidentally had the temperature at 78 so we ended up opening the door for a couple of seconds to cool down a bit). The warm water was a bit smelly, as may be expected in this neck of the woods. The cold water though is perfectly fine and has no odd taste or smell. We were a bit worried because multiple reviews mentioned dogs, but the cabin does not smell like dogs at all. The only negative thing we have to say is that we only booked for two nights and were sad to leave and go back to our normal lives!

    Tim2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • Adorable tiny cabin. Perfect love nest. Do it!

    Alec2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • Absolutely stunning in the snow, beautiful little cabin, amazing little touches, dogs had the best tine, the exact esacpe we needed. We hope to return!

    Joe2020-02-02T00:00:00Z
  • Our second visit was just as lovely as the first! A wonderful, quiet spot to get away from it all. We definitely recommend!

    Kara2020-01-20T00:00:00Z
  • This was a great place to stay! The little cabin was so homey and warm, even with it being below zero outside! We will definitely be back.

  • A truly amazing place that we just can’t stay away from. Looking forward to returning. Great hosts, amazing location.

  • Quiet, secluded cabin right on a beautiful lake. A very beautiful place to spend a weekend and enjoy the summer out on the water in one of the SUPs, canoes or paddle boats down by the dock. Rebecca is an excellent host and went above and beyond to ensure we were comfortable and well taken care of.

    Michael2019-08-06T00:00:00Z
  • The cabin was a great place to get away for the weekend and our hosts were very accommodating. We hope to go back in the future.

  • Quaint and cozy place and just right for 4. Beautiful lake and great hospitality.

    Jamey2019-05-27T00:00:00Z
  • A fantastic get away place. The cabin was perfectly cozy for two, right next to the lake, in a quiet setting with lots of opportunity for exploration. Rebecca and Rob were very sweet and generous - they even let us borrow their bikes one day to explore farther than our feet were taking us! We didn't end up using the canoe, for which they supplied life jackets, since we brought SUPS, but that would have been another great adventure. The cabin was simple, which suited us perfectly.

    Brandie2017-10-01T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful cabin located in the woods of Chippewa National Forest and on the lake, perfect get away for a holiday. This place and people have special place in our hearts forever. Rebecca is a wonderful host, at no point my wife and I felt like we were guests. The whole family welcomed us as their own and treated us like one of their own. We are definitely going back again to spend more time. I recommend this place one hundred percent.

  • Clean and comfortable. Nice open space. Beds were very comfy. Definitely secluded. We were snowmobiling and the parking lot was large enough for 4 trucks with trailers. We didn't even need the extra parking area below. I would say that as long as the lake is good and frozen, which it was for us, that is the best way to get to the trail. Would stay here again.

  • I brought 11 guests to this cabin for a winter-time, cozy, relaxing board game and socializing weekend. We found it easy to get down to the frozen lake to explore, and the sauna was perfect for warming up after. The two floors are very spacious and give enough room for everyone to gather at once and also find quiet corners to recharge when needed. Visiting this cabin felt like visiting a friend's place, and it had enough thoughtful touches that we could all truly relax for a few days. Peg is a great host, very responsive, and even helped us get out when we got some more snow than expected!

    Kristen2019-02-24T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed at the cozy lodge. It was the perfect winter weekend getaway for the family. There was something for everyone to do from ice fishing, sledding, sauna'ing or just unwinding by the beautiful stone fireplace with a nice glass of wine. The big table was great for family dinners or playing board games at night. We plan to come back this summer and enjoy the summer activities. All in all, you won't go wrong by making this your go to for winter or summer family gatherings.

“Twin Pines” is a perfect destination for vacationers who seek beautiful northwoods surroundings to “get away from it all” any time of year. This is a large house that is a perfect place for a large family or group, but is also great for a couple looking to spend some time amongst nature.
Guests have use of the entire house which has a fully stocked kitchen and bathroom, as well as bed linens and towels. There are decks on the back and front of the house, with chairs and a covered table on the back deck. There is a large yard that is perfect for kids and pets to play in. We also just had hi speed internet installed so there is wifi available to guests. There is a small cabin on the property that we may possibly be using, but we are not there all the time.
Our place is located in the Chippewa Forest, about 15 minutes from the closet town which is Bigfork. The dirt road we are located on only has around 6 cabins on the entire 8 miles of road. There are giant red pines surrounding the house and yard, and the deck is a perfect place for star gazing.
  • Secluded, beautiful and peaceful. Want to come back in the spring or fall.

    Nicole2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • This is a wonderful house in the middle of amazing trails and woods and beautiful lakes. We grouse hunt in the fall and cannot wait each year to return. This was our 6th year staying at Twin Pines. We hope to return next year.

  • This cabin is located in a beautiful, peaceful northwoods setting. It's a 15-30 drive to great parks for hiking like The Lost Forty and Scenic State Park. They have lots of beds, books, games - a great space for a family get together. The hosts were very friendly and made sure we were comfortable.

  • Cute little house - plenty of seating space in the LR, dining room, sunroom. It was IMMACULATE - not what I'd expect in a cabin in the woods. Communication was awesome and they were so friendly with everything.

See a beautiful sunrise then enjoy boating and other family-friendly activities in crystal clear water by day. Relax by the large fire pit at night after the sunsets. The cabin is great for couples and fun for kids. Please book your private getaway today and we'll see you at the cabin!
Our charming, rustic 3-bedroom/1.5 bath sleeps 6 comfortably. The large kitchen is fully equipped for cooking meals after a day spent out on the lake. Enjoy a drink during the evening on the large screened in porch located right off the kitchen with a view of the lake. No wifi is available. The Cabin is only available to rent out in the summer and early fall. There is no running water in the winter months.
There are a string of cabins on our hill that were all built about 100 years ago. The cabins are scattered up and down the hill and have tons of history tied to them. In fact, the very first Hamm's Beer commercial was filmed on our lake. The land of "sky blue waters" is a perfect descriptor for the lake, even today. It's beautiful to see the uniqueness of each cabin, however this does mean that from time to time our neighbors will be up. Our neighbors tend to be up starting July 4th through Mid August.
  • If you are looking for a nice place to get away with family or friends this is the place to go!

  • This is a perfect north woods cabin on a beautiful lake. We had great fishing, campfires, and family time. The ability to rent a pontoon from a nearby resort was icing on the cake. This was a great place!

  • A perfect northern MN cabin experience. We loved it.

    Ann2018-08-03T00:00:00Z
  • This cabin was very clean! It’s cute, and quite large. It was wonderful for 4 of us, but could easily accommodate many more. The location is breathtaking... you’re in the middle of nowhere, yet only a few doors down from a resort that has great pricing on boat rentals.

    Bobbi2018-06-24T00:00:00Z
  • Brian's cabin was the perfect northern getaway for our family of two adults and four kids. We had a great time catching smallmouth bass and relaxing on the dock.

    Ben2017-08-13T00:00:00Z
  • You will find Brian's cabin delightful! Well equipped, comfortable and a very peaceful setting! Brian was very responsive and flexible with our early check in time. We hope to rent his cabin again next year!

  • My family and I had the perfect vacation at this cabin. It is located on a beautiful lake that is crystal clear. The cabin is charming with a lot of north woods charachter. There are quite a few steps yo get down to the cabin since it's on a hill. I would not recommend this if you have difficulty with stairs. However because it's on a hill it offers stunning views of the lake. The screened in patio was perfect for lounging and listening to the rain. I would highly suggest this cabin.

    Karel2017-06-23T00:00:00Z
  • Went up to Brian's cabin with my fiancé and some friends, it was the perfect get away we needed. It was nice to have access to the dock and little boat he had to offer. The kitchen was fantastic to cook in and had all appliances needed to cook for a group. It's a great place to go and escape your everyday city life. A definite retreat you will be happy to come back to.

  • My son and I spent a glorious September weekend at Margaret's place and it was spectacular in every way. First, the basics: Check-in was seamless and Margaret is friendly, helpful and generous. The log cabin is cozy not kitschy. The beds are SO comfortable (a must!). The kitchen has every kind of pot, pan, dish and gadget you could imagine. Plenty of towels, toilet paper and firewood. But honestly, this place should be listed under "experiences" not "stays." We experienced our morning coffee sitting on the dock of the lake and listening to the loons. We experienced the glorious fall colors on a hike in the Chippewa National Forest. We experienced the sunsetting over Caribou Lake from a paddle boat. We experienced solitude, wrapped in blankets, reading books on the lovely deck. We experienced bliss in the sauna while a pot of soup simmered on the stove. And we experienced the starry night, sipping wine and listening to jazz by the fire. And we might have experienced the northern lights if we hadn't been so tired and content. I have had many wonderful airbnb "stays" here and abroad, but Margaret's place is an experience I'll never forget. I can't wait to return with my entire family!

    Linda2019-09-29T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful log cabin with lots of space. A friend, me and my pup wanted a peaceful weekend out of the city where we could see the fall leaves changing colors. This was the perfect place.

  • Well all I can tell you is that this place is absolutely fantastic , we enjoyed every minute of it , we brought the family up for Christmas , and it was nicely decorated and absolutely beautifully handcrafted , and seasoned with enough charm and use , that it made you feel very comfortable , one thing that is important to me is that it is very clean as expected in a cabin all the rooms are all handcrafted in a rustic way , so you don't have that peer pressure worry feeling that if you migjt accidentally scratch something , that is something that always bothers me , especially when you're out in the cabin and the outdoorwoods life , they are and were the most gracious host , I must admire the space they give you , there a phone call away , but only check on you if you need something , and actually their Company and comradery is worth needing something LOL , A couple of our boys Gals had never seen snow , there wasn't hardly any in the Cities , but WOW we got snow Thank God , and it turned their facility into a winter wonderland postcard material , you can tell these guys have been building cabins for a while , we were in Cabin Six , but they all seem very nice and if I could give them more stars I would , but don't think twice about going there , its so beautiful we're going to try to take a peek at it in the summer , so this family says , it's As Good As It Gets , and if you think of something their the kind of people who love input , and make your stay comfortable , all I know it was magical , Diamond's in the snow , thank you and may God bless.

Nestled in quiet stands of pine and tamarack, our 2 story log cabin is just 100 ft of level ground from beautiful Connors lake. This private lake isn’t open to the public, and you will generally find yourself the only soul on the water.
Entire cabin is available for guest use.

  • Great cabin and north woods experience! This cabin has so many amenities that it's hard to name them all! Being a larger family (6 kids), we loved the loft that provided a bed for each of the kids. The kitchen had more provisions than any other cabin I've ever seen; from dishes to pots and pans, to spices and more! It was nice to have a full-size refrigerator as well. The washer and dryer was a huge bonus for us since we didn't have to bring quite as many clothes. There is also a big screen TV with satellite service (though we didn't watch much tv because there was so many other things to do!). The cabin sits on a nice lake and we caught many pan fish (sunfish, etc.) right from the dock. We took advantage of the paddle boards provided (a lot of fun!) and also the kayak and row boat. There is a nice fire pit by the lake and the host provided an abundance of firewood for our use. The town of Bigfork (just a few miles away) had bait, groceries and even a nice little throwback ice cream/hamburger restaurant. All in all, the experience was great and our family had a great time. I recommend this cabin to anyone wanting that north woods experience!

    Jason2019-09-17T00:00:00Z
  • Great place to stay and fish.

    Sue2019-07-20T00:00:00Z
  • This was a lovely log cabin with lots of ambiance. It was super clean, with a full kitchen we could really cook in. The cabin stayed nice and warm even with -20 F nighttime temps. We didn't end up using the fireplace, but it definitely adds to the homey cabin feeling. We really loved the big picture window overlooking the lake and watching deer families walk right by in the day and under moonlight. We had a great time snow shoeing at the Lost 40 scientific and natural area (300 year old trees, lovely hills, lots of fun). We had so much fun snow shoeing on the cabin's lake, we didn't even make it to Scenic State Park as we had planned the 3rd day This was a beautiful area and we look forward to coming back again to make use of some of the cross country ski trails in the area.

A comfortable lake home with 4 roomy bedrooms. We are on Dora Lake in North Central Minnesota. A great place to relax, watch the sunset or hold a family gathering. Enjoy the very private lake lot located in the Chippewa National Forest. The Dora Lake Fishing Bridge is just down the road and we are 3 miles from the Lost Forty Area. Fishing, boating and wildlife viewing are highlights of this area, with 3 rivers connecting to Dora Lake. Set aside your every-day life and come relax by the lake.
You will have the entire 4 bedroom house on a quiet lake. The small yard is shady most of the day. A full kitchen (except dishwasher) should have most everything you need. Our dining room table seats 8 and we are child friendly. Canoes and kayaks are included and you may bring a small boat to dock. We are located 23 miles east of Blackduck, MN, 50 miles NE of Bemidji, MN and 230 miles NW of Minneapolis/St. Paul.
We love our private lot and watching sunsets from the west-facing deck. The Bowstring and Popple Rivers flow into Dora Lake and the Bigfork River flows out so it's a popular place to fish from boats or the Dora Lake Bridge. Our house is very close to the water on a small lot. You will rarely see the neighbors, but you may see loons, trumpeter swans, geese, deer, and muskrats during your stay. Just 3 miles to the Lost Forty hiking area and 22 miles to Anderson Fabric Outlet. Deer hunters are welcome. We are 35 minutes from Lake Winnibigoshish.

    Brenda2019-09-01T00:00:00Z
  • With this being our first Airbnb experience we really appreciated the special care and effort Beth and her husband took to make sure we were comfortable and had an enjoyable experience. It was just what our family needed with our busy schedules to not have to worry about anything and focus on our family keeping us connected because it can be difficult with so many age ranges to stay focused on what is important. Being able to unplug and have fun together instead of constantly being on the go was exactly what we as a family needed and what Beth provided. We thank you for the opportunity to stay here and look forward to future visits.

    Jennifer2019-08-18T00:00:00Z

  • This is a very roomy cabin that has what you need to have a relaxing vacation at a lake. I did a girl's week with my mom, my aunt and two dogs and it was a success! It's quiet so you can relax and it's nearby the Lost 40 so you can get a little hike in.

  • Patricia and Ted were incredible hosts. We really felt like family for the four days we were there. They were attentive to the boys, finding fun things for them to do and even fishing with our youngest. We appreciated the use of the boat house equipment and row boat as well as all the fishing advice. We enjoyed the sunset trip on the pontoon. The cabin was as described. Beds had silky sheets and extra pillows. Kitchen was well equipped with enough dishes that we didn’t have to wash dishes constantly-such a blessing on vacation. Be aware there are stairs to the dock. Also, bring all produce as the closest market has limited choices.

    Laura2019-07-26T00:00:00Z
  • A beautiful place! My husband and I had such a relaxing time at Tam O'Shanter. With just 3 cabins, it is a remote and peaceful space. The cabin was extremely clean and had everything we needed. We loved our daily canoe trips, and also the sunset pontoon rides with Patty, Ted, their adorable dog Otis, and even some of their friends! Our privacy was always respected, and we also felt included and welcomed. This is a perfect destination to experience the beauty of northern Minnesota.

    Ali2019-07-21T00:00:00Z
  • I wish I could give 10 stars! Patty and Ted are amazing hosts and made my family of 4 feel like their family! The cabin was extremely clean and very charming. We loved using the kayaks and canoes, swimming near the dock, the sounds of loons, and especially our nightly pontoon rides with Patty and Ted to see amazing sunsets. It was the perfect trip to the northwoods and exceeded our expectations! We can't recommend Tam O'Shanter highly enough and are definitely coming back!

    Jayne2019-07-01T00:00:00Z
  • Patricia and Ted were so wonderful to have as hosts! They made sure we had everything for a relaxing, fun weekend! Everything you want in a “Minnesota Nice” hospitality.

    Lex2019-06-16T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful stay at Tam O’Shanter and the hospitality was exceptional! We enjoyed swimming, canoeing, and watching the stars from the dock at night. It was a real treat to be invited on a pontoon ride with Patricia and her husband. We highly recommend these cabins, which were fully equipped with everything we needed during our stay. Just don’t forget hand towels and bath towels!

    Krista2018-08-13T00:00:00Z
  • Tan O'Shanter is wonderful! It is peaceful, quiet and perfectly located on a beautiful lake with amazing sunset views. Our cabin was cozy, the beds comfortable and we had everything we needed during our stay. We forgot our bath towels and were short on beach towels but our hosts were happy to provide what we needed. There are charcoal grills, plenty of outdoor tables and chairs as well as 2 fire pits and plenty of firewood available. The boat house is a fun place for gathering, playing board games or just enjoying the lake views. Just off the dock you will find canoes, kayaks, rafts, life jackets and everything you need to enjoy some time on the water. Patty is a warm and welcoming host and a pleasure to talk too. She took a genuine interest in our "stories" and shared muc h of her own story as well as those of local history and lore. The high point of our stay was when Patty, her husband Ted and Otis, their delightful canine companion invited us to join them on their boat for an evening, sunset excursion. It was the "icing on the cake" of our wonderful stay at Tam O'Shanter!

    John2018-08-10T00:00:00Z
  • Perfect Northern Minnesota getaway! The cabin was exceptionally clean and dish towels, soaps, cook wear, etc. we’re provided and came in handy! The lake was gorgeous and the weather for the end of July was comfortable. Although the cabins are not equipped with a/c, it’s really not needed in Northern MN. The days were plenty warm to swim comfortably and the nights were cool enough to enjoy s’mores at the bonfire. We especially appreciated the split wood available for us to use at no cost. Our family would definitely recommend this cabin again!

    Mandy2018-07-29T00:00:00Z
  • A wonderful, peaceful little slice of Northern Minnesota. Peaceful views, comfortable cabins, and kind hosts! Cooking utensils are provided, nice hot water in the shower, and plenty of windows on the cabins. They are gracious enough to allow the use of canoes and kayaks, as well as a place to clean fish. Their west-facing property allows for a nice view of the sunset across the lake. We would definitely come back! For navigation purposes, the entry to the property is the very end of the gravel road.

Beautiful wilderness, lakes, trails, peace and quiet.
  • The cabin was beautiful and we had a lot of fun. The fireplace in the living room was particularly nice I thought. We also had a fire outside and despite being a bit soggy this time of year (April and snow is still melting) we enjoyed it immensely.

All kitchen utensils, linens and cooking/baking supplies are provided and there is also a high chair and booster seat available. LOWER LEVEL: the lower level has 1 additional bathroom, a dining/gaming table with 4 chairs, another living room with a flat-screen TV, another pair of double-doors that open to an outdoor patio, and a laundry/storage room with washer and dryer and plenty of storage for outdoor items and clothing, including snowmobiling gear. BEDROOMS: There are 3 bedrooms, each that sleep two, plus comfortable sleeping arrangements for 3 additional guests downstairs - 2 on a double size futon-style couch and 1 on a single-size rollaway bed. There is also a Graco brand pack-n-play portable crib for a small child/infant. All bedroom linens (sheets, blankets, pillows, etc.) are provided, including an extra set of sheets for all beds. LAKESIDE: The Hideaway has a separate lakeside area just a few hundred feet from the cabin that has a private dock, sand bottom shoreline for swimming, fully screened-in gazebo with electricity, table and 6 chairs, fish cleaning table, many life jackets, a 17' Grumman aluminum canoe, and a 2-person paddle boat. And for an additional small fee, the unlimited use of a 14' Lund fishing boat with 9HP Honda motor (includes 1 full tank of mixed gas). Wasson Lake does not have a public access, and there is also not access point on the property to launch a watercraft. PETS: For an additional fee per stay, dogs are allowed, but a max of 2. For your convenience, we provide feeding dishes and bags. Please do not leave your dog alone and unattended in the cabin or anywhere on the property. FISHING: Wasson Lake is approximately 500 acres in size and spring fed. Per the MN DNR site it has 17 feet of clarity with a maximum depth of 67 feet. With 4 islands and numerous bays, it provides for an ideal fish habitat. The lake has northern pike, perch, large and small mouth bass, rock bass, crappies, and other panfish like bluegill and sunfish. The nearby Scenic Pines Store just 2 miles away sells bait, tackle as well as gas (if you choose to use the boat and need to purchase more). HUNTING: We do not allow hunting on the 25-acre property itself. However, hunting groups are welcome as there are thousands of acres of huntable government, public land all over the area. Here are some websites with some area hunting and fishing information: http://www.visitgrandrapids.com/things-to-do/hunting/ http://www.dnr.state.mn.us/hunting/tips/locations.html SNOWMOBILING: Snowmobilers welcome !!! In the wintertime, enjoy exploring the hundreds of miles of snowmobile trails that Itasca County and northern MN have to offer. An extension to the nearby groomed Herb Brandstrom Trail was just added a couple years ago and practically goes right to the cabin as it starts just a few hundred feet from the driveway. The local Swampsiders Snowmobile Club is also just 3 miles down the road. See the following Itasca County Snowmobiling site for more information and maps: https://www.co.itasca.mn.us/279/Snowmobile-Trails 25 ACRES: Much of the forest around Wasson Lake is second and third growth and was very old and dying. Thus, a few years ago the previous owners underwent an overdue project of forest stewardship by selectively harvesting overgrown poplar, birch and aspen trees while planting over 4,000 new red pine, white pine and various types of hardwoods. So within a few short years, we will start to see a beautiful new forest begin to emerge. In fact, the pine trees are already getting to 4-6 feet tall. The property is bordered by the lake to east, another cabin to the south, and roads to the west and north, so we invite you to take a peaceful walk in the woods or down the driveway and road to take in all the peace, quiet, beauty and tranquility the property and surrounding area has to offer.
Lots of recreational and outdoor activities: snowmobiling, downhill and cross country skiing, tubing, snowboarding, fishing/ice fishing, snowshoeing, hiking, hunting (not allowed on property), etc. Lots of shopping, events and other activities in nearby Bigfork, Grand Rapids and the many other towns up and down the Iron Range.

  • Thank you for a great stay in North Minnesota woods!

    Aliaksandra2020-01-04T00:00:00Z
  • Definitely a great place to stay to get away from the city! I’ve been here two years in a row and this year with the added touch of the sauna, it was 10+. The hosts are very accommodating and we’re quick to respond when I had questions.

    Kristina2019-02-10T00:00:00Z
  • This cabin was absolutely beautiful and comfortable for a group hangout and lake side experience. It is located right at the Sand Lake and is great for a summer and/or fall escape from the city life. We had a great time during the fall season where we got to see beautiful colors of the season in the Chippewa Forest region. During the night we were able to see glimpse of Northern lights from the lakeshore as the sky was cloudy at that time. The cabin was fully equipped with everything you'd want for a complete outing experience in the forest. Sauna is an added touch. I'd absolutely recommend this cabin for a great experience in the wilderness.

  • We had a great time staying at the Scenic Hideaway. We loved the kitchen cabin and beach. I would definitely recommend.

    Kaitlyn2019-08-04T00:00:00Z
  • The children loved the fine sand on the beach and the clear lake water, and the summer kitchen was amazing! This place has lots of charm and is well furnished. The road was a little close, but the host is in the process of getting more privacy put up. We especially enjoyed watching the moon coming up over the water and listening to the loons! Was a great place to relax!

    Israel2019-07-22T00:00:00Z
  • We loved this place! It’s a perfect set-up from the various cabins for multi-family use, the outdoor kitchen (amazing!) and the beautiful outdoors...we couldn’t have asked for a better place. The lake is a great fishing lake and we skied and tubed as well - hardly any lake traffic. We felt like we had a private lake! Bob and Connie are very accommodating and great hosts. We would definitely come back again.

    Julie2019-07-07T00:00:00Z
  • This place was awesome! With 15 adults 9 kids and 2 babies, I was worried we would be super cramped. Turns out we all had plenty of room between the 3 separate houses and the kitchen/serving building. It's perfect for a large groups who want to be close but not too close. Pretty much had the lake to ourselves as I only saw 1 or 2 boats the whole time we were there . We rented jet skis from Grand Rapids, dropped them in from the public access less than a mile from the place and had a blast. The kids loved the paddle boat and the canoe Bob and Connie provided and playing in the sandy beach was a also a huge hit. I'll definitely keep this place in mind for future trips, I'd rent it again in a heart beat.

    Cameron2019-06-28T00:00:00Z
  • The place was very large and spread out which was great for a big group. We spent most of our morning and evening time around the large fire pit and outdoor kitchen “hut.” The griddle top in there was great for cooking large meals like burgers and brats. All the cabins were clean and comfortable.

    Jenny2018-08-20T00:00:00Z
  • This was a great place for our very large group. Bob answered our many questions quickly and helpfully and was ready for us early on our arrival day. The cabins, which he built, are lovely. The adults were comfortable, and the kids had a wonderful time free ranging and building a secret fort in the adjacent woods. Amazing beach with nice attention to details from the hosts—beach toys, inner tubes, and an extra towel per person we’re provided in addition to the possibility of renting a pontoon. The outdoor kitchen with a large cast iron griddle built in is a wonderful touch as well. Very nice!

    Anna2018-08-17T00:00:00Z
  • Absolutely wonderful. We are a large family and we were taking our first family vacation ever. Couldn't have asked for a better place.. Never cooked in the cabins or house, we used the outdoor kitchen. Nice quiet lake, with lots of fishing and boating..

  • It’s a cabin on a lake with tons of things for kids to do. Great family resort

  • A classic Northern Minnesota Mom and Pop resort. A cute cabin on a nice lake, with docks and free kayaks. It was everything we were looking for - a mellow place to relax after a day of biking the Mesabi Trail. NOTE: The listing does not say that towels and soap are not provided. This is typical for this type of resort, but the listing does not state that. The hosts plan to update their listing to say their are no towels. The hosts supplied them for us right away.

    David2018-09-09T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great time at Moose Lake! The cabin has two small bedrooms, bathroom with great water pressure and shower that takes zero time to heat up, sitting area, table with four chairs, and full kitchen. Fridge, stove, microwave, coffee pot, dishes, pots and pans, utensils all provided. The kitchen and all utensils are all very old, but perfectly functional. The cabin on the outside could use a fresh coat of paint, but inside the wood is all well maintained. Towels are not provided, so remember to bring dish towels also! Outside there is a fire ring, picnic table, and one plastic chair. The cabins are all fairly close together, so it does not feel secluded, but it was quiet. There are two kayaks and a canoe available for use, first-come-first-served, and we enjoyed using those as well. I wished we had more chairs for sitting around the fire, but we made it work. Overall the set up is pretty basic, nothing fancy or new, but the hosts were great to work with and this cozy little spot was just what we were hoping for! Late check out was also much appreciated. Thanks for a great stay!

  • Thanks Wendi and John! We had a great time in the cabin. We rented a pontoon boat for an evening and went kayaking another morning. The property has a summer camp vibe, which we loved. We bought firewood on site and had a nice bonfire on a drizzly evening. It was a great place for families or couples to get away.
