Places to stay in Langton Matravers
This amazing beachfront house on Sandbanks Peninsula is very cool, quirky and spacious. It is suitable for families/friend groups wanting to have fun on the beach/water or explore Dorset. It is one of a handful of properties that has direct access onto the beach at the back, and to Poole Harbour at the front. It has gorgeous views of Brownsea Island, Studland, Old Harry's Rocks and IofW from the house and garden. All rooms (bar bunk rooms) can be made into super kings instead of two singles.
The house is situated on the Sandbanks Peninsula with direct access at the back of the garden onto the beach and to Poole Harbour at the front of the house. The sunsets over the Harbour are completely sublime and have to be seen to be believed. The fantastic firework displays on Poole Quay can be watched from the comfort of the dining room! There are amazing views from every room in the house - and almost has the feeling of being in a boat. It is the ONLY house that is let for holidays on this stretch so it is unique. It is deceptively large (approx 4000 square feet internally) so there is plenty of room for everyone - especially as the lounge and games room allow for two completely separate areas to relax and have fun in. The property also benefits from a huge garden that is approx 50 metres long with amazing views to Old Harry's rocks and the Isle of Wight. There is also parking for 5 cars at the front of the house. This saves on parking charges! Everyone who has visited Sandbanks knows this house - it was the first modern house built on the peninsula when it was still a literal sandbank. It won the house of the year award in 1974 for its innovative architecture - being cantilevered and made of concrete and glass. It is definitely one of a kind! It is a lovely quirky house to have fun in. It has a great fun interior - we call it the "Happy House"! The house is located next door to The Watersports Academy which is fantastic for watersports activities, paddle board, bicycle and boat hire. We host a wide range of guests at the property. These include family/friendship group holidays and celebrations, Bournemouth graduation events and pre-marriage celebrations. We have also hosted business groups for team building activities and meetings. It is a fantastic choice for those visiting Dorset from the UK or abroad (15 minutes from Bournemouth International airport) who wish to explore the beautiful Dorset coast and countryside. The property is the perfect place to start your exploration of beautiful Poole Harbour, Bournemouth beach and Jurassic coast. Bournemouth beach is the only UK beach to be awarded one of the "World's Best" by travellers on Trip Advisor. The beach house is also only 30/40 minutes to Jurassic highlights such as Lulworth cove, Chapman's Pool and Kimmeridge. The house is only 20 minutes from the charming New Forest with its gorgeous country pubs and New Forest ponies. The house offers a holiday that can combine so many different elements that make an amazing and memorable trip with so much to do both at the house and in the surrounding area. The house itself is such a relaxing place to be with beautiful views that many guests do not leave the house and immediate surrounding area for the duration of their stay - so no need to use the car at all! Top Floor - The top floor has five bedrooms. There is one further bedroom and also games room that are used for sleeping accommodation on the ground floor (please see below). Bedroom 1 - is a beautiful large bedroom with the most amazing views of Poole Harbour and Brownsea Island. It is really light and spacious room. The bedroom can be set up either as two singles or a superking bed. There are two armchair sofa beds which can be made up as two singles. This room can sleep 4. Bedroom 2 - this room also has wonderful views over the Harbour. It can be made up as two singles or a superking. There is an armchair sofa bed which can be used as a single. This room can sleep 3. Bedroom 4 - this is a very large and light room which has amazing views, both of the harbour to the side of the house and the beach at the back of the house. This room can be set up as two singles or a superking. There are also two arm chair sofa beds that can be used as two singles. This room has an ensuite bathroom with a bath and shower. This room can sleep 4. Bedroom 5- bunk room with views of the harbour. The bunk beds can sleep adults. This is annexed off Bedroom 4 so makes it very suitable for use as a family room or for a group of friends. This room can sleep 2. There is also a well appointed shower room on the top floor. Middle Floor - The middle floor is an amazing open plan living and dining space which is great for entertaining. The living area has a huge, deep sofa which is perfect for reclining on to watch a movie or listen to music. There is a Bang and Olufsen TV system on this floor with Apple TV with access to over 200 films downloaded (mainly children's movies!) Netflix can also be played through this TV. The kitchen and dining room (breakfast bar) are designed to seat a large group. There are two table extensions available in order to seat 20 people at the dining table. It is a wonderful place to sit and watch the sunsets over the harbour which will take your breath away. The kitchen is really well equipped for cooking for large number. There is an electric range oven with 3 ovens and 5 induction rings. There are two fridge freezers, dishwasher, microwave, toaster, and Nespresso coffee machine. there is crockery, cutlery and glassware for 22 people. The kitchen has been designed to make things as easy as possible for a relaxing stay. Bottom Floor - The bottom floor has one bedroom Bedroom 6 - this can be set up as two single beds or a superking. It has views of the harbour. It is a very quirky round room. The large private 'games room' has table football, three sofas a TV (with netflix and sega mega drive games console), fridge freezer, stereo system and also decks. There is direct access to the garden through double doors from the games room. It is a fantastic room with amazing graffiti wall art. The two sofa beds can be used to sleep 2/4 people. Two additional floor mattresses can be added to the games room too. The utility room is also on this floor with a shower room and washer and dryer. The house has been designed to have fun for family/friendship groups. It can sleep a maximum of 21 people. If you are more than 16 guests there is a small additional charge over 16 guests - please state the number of people you wish to stay clearly at the point of booking. Garden - The outside space at the back of the house is decked with a large seating area. There is a gas BBQ available for use. The garden has been astro turfed and has a giant sandpit called "shark island" for children (and adults) to have fun in! There is a large storage area which has lots of fun beach/water activities including paddle boards, buckets and spades, balls etc. There is also a Table tennis table in the garden. The garden is secure at the front and back with a locked/coded gate. It is a fabulous location and the interior is completely different to what is expected!! It really is an amazing house that you will find very difficult to leave! Infants - There are two high chairs and travel cots at the property. There is a stair gate for the middle floor. For hosting groups I am happy to help with booking/organising activities at the house. For example - - A "beauty" day can be organised at the house with massage therapists, beauty therapists and hairdressers. This is a fun activity for all women groups who may be planning on going out for the evening! - Pilates / yoga instruction - Live art classes - Outside caterers - Cocktail classes I am also happy to help organise / book activities off site, for example - - Water sports activities - Golf days/lessons - Clay pigeon shooting - Taxi/coach bookings There is so much to do in the house and in the local area! There is ample parking for at least 5/6 cars. EVERYBODY loves it here!
The area is unique as it has access to the water on two sides - Harbour and beach. Sandbanks is probably one of the best known stretches of beach in the UK.

  • This property has an outstanding location with the front overlooking the sea with kite surfers, sailers paddleboarders all enjoying themselves. The back is a fantastic sandy beach for everyone to enjoy. Even in January we had a fantastic stay and I’m sure in the summer it’s totally amazing. We thoroughly recommend a stay here.

  • We came to Dave's house for a well deserved girls weekend. The communal space was perfect for our stay and the house had lots of room for us to spill out into. We will definitely love to stay again. Dave was very concerned that we told him if anyone had become ill during the stay so that he could inform the cleaners to complete a deep clean so that future guests could rest assured that they were not being exposed to the virus.

Acton Studio is perfect for walkers as we are on the South West Coast Path, ideal for those wanting to get back to nature and unwind as we are off the beaten track.
Acton Studio is a recently converted compact purbeck stone outbuilding with double bed, wet room and kitchenette with table and stools. The kitchenette has an electric oven, hob, fridge, sink, kettle, toaster and essential kitchen items. Dorset tea, coffee, sugar and milk provided. The studio is located at the bottom of our rear garden, the studio has it's own private garden. There is parking but it is not adjacent to the property. Sit in the enclosed garden on a summer evening after a long hike relaxing with a beer or glass of wine. On a clear night and with no street lights you can gaze up at a sky full of stars.
Acton is a small tranquil hamlet of around forty Purbeck stone cottages with unmade roads throughout. There is two pubs within walking distance. The King's Arms in Langton Matravers (25 minutes) and the Square and Compass in Worth Matravers (30 minutes). The Square and Compass only serves pies and pasties. A couple of minutes in the car and you reach The Scott Arms in Kingston then a little further The Castle Inn and The Greyhound in Corfe Castle. The nearest shop is in Langton Matravers ( a twenty five minute walk) but please check that they are open. There are Coop and Budgen supermarkets in Swanage and lots of smaller shops (a ten minute drive). We are surrounded by fields, some with cows and sheep and we are located on the South West Coast Path incorporating breath-taking views. We are lucky to live in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, home to many rare plants and animals. The Purbeck coastline is part of the ninety-five mile stretch known as the 'Jurassic Coast', named England’s first natural world heritage site in 2002 because of the unique insight it offers into 185 million years of the Earth’s history.
  • Fantastic space, really clean and lovely little touches. Location is great for walks along the Jurassic coast and hosts were very helpful

  • Liz's apartment is perfectly located on the port side of Poole, within walking distance (about 10 mins) of the old Quay area and not too much further from the huge Asda supermarket. Not that grocery shopping is needed: the kitchenette is already stocked with lovely bread and croissants, plus a choice of breakfast cereals. The decor is beautiful, with a definite coastal feel, and the entire apartment is cosy, sparklingly clean and casually stylish. It really does feel like a second home rather than an overnight stay.

One day, they walked from our house to Poole Harbour via the ferry at Studland, at Poole Quay they caught the bus back to Swanage. On another occasion, we drove them to Lulworth Cove with a picnic, they then walked back to our house along the South Coast Path, arriving late that afternoon, exhausted, but elated. Several times they walked to Wareham and Corfe Castle and The Square & Compass pub at Worth Matravers.
  • This stay was way above our expectations, would stay again for sure. Great welcome and was really impressed with all the attention to detail. Its a lovely area to stay in, we enjoyed the walks by the sea and hunting down the dinosaur footprints thanks to Angela's great advice.

  • Pros: 1. Angela and Nick are incredibly amazing hosts. They are full of love and kindness :) definitely one of my best Airbnb experiences! 2. The house itself is very beautiful, spacious and well equipped. You'll have your own comfortable private space and entrance with everything you could need. Ange and Nick have thought of every small thing, so the place is full of thoughtful touches - like board games, brushes for cleaning muddy footwear, extra blankets, menus of nearby restaurants etc 3. Amazing breakfast provided! Lots of variety and healthy wholesome food. 4. Lovely garden at the back right behind your private kitchen 5. You should ask Ange for tips on food and places to see. They gave us some great suggestions and even helped us make reservations for dinner at a great place nearby. 6. Location - very close to beautiful scenic spots! You'll still need a car to make the best of the area but this place is very conveniently located. 7. Their dog summer! Such a sweetheart ❤️ Cons - I thought long and hard and could not come up with even one. I would strongly recommend Ange and Nick's place to anyone visiting Swanage! We certainly hope to visit them again sometime! :)

  • Outstanding hospitality and great quality facilities and personal touches, very comfortable, and private, I only missed a sink in the breakfast room. But all the washing up was done for us, anyway. Good selection of breakfast options, including organic milk and fresh baked bread. Very, very comfortable stay

  • We had an absolutely lovely time at Angela and Nicks home! They made us feel so welcome on arrival, the guest wing is perfect and the local tips and thoughtful touches are fab. • What a fantastic place! We only booked last minute due to a change in our travel plans and we are SO glad we found this place! As soon as we arrived we felt really at home! The house is beautifully decorated and has literally everything you could think of and some lovely little extras! From arrival to departure everything was perfect and we cannot wait to come back again!

  • Best small AirBnB we've used. Pity that because of social distancing we couldn't enjoy the pubs and restaurants. We will return once CV-19 is defeated.

  • We really enjoyed our stay at Scott and Kelly’s beautiful property. It was immaculate and very well-equipped and Scott and Kelly ensured that our stay was easy and comfortable from start to finish. They even leant us an OS map to enable us to explore the stunning Isle of Purbeck. We would highly recommended this property.

    Sophie2020-03-16T00:00:00Z
  • The coast house is beautifully decorated. Wish we stayed longer. Great location for Poole, Bournemouth and the amazing coastal walks. We,d definitely recommend to anyone and will definitely return.

  • We had a wonderful stay at the Coast House. Kelly and Scott were friendly and both willing to offer help and advise. The property was well organised, spotlessly clean and tastefully decorated. It had everything we could want and more! It was so nice to arrive after a long drive and see that there was a supply of milk, tea and biscuits waiting for us. A thoughtful touch. Would stay again and definitely recommend to friends. Thank you.

Characterful, peaceful and clean accommodation set in a large garden with views of the Purbeck hills. Just 150 m from the historical Harmans Cross steam railway station and newly equipped children's play area. Perfect for families, cyclists and walkers. Purbeck has two ridges. We are situated in the valley between them. The inner ridge gives panoramic views of Poole Harbour, Corfe Castle and Swanage Bay while the outer ridge boasts breathtaking views of the Jurassic Coast.
The Bunk House is newly furbished with oak flooring throughout, exposed roof rafters and walk-in shower. Smoke alarm and co detector. There is a small fridge containing milk, juice and bread, also a toaster, kettle, tea and coffee plus cutlery and crockery.
This area is semi-rural, safe and quiet. 40 min walk or 10min drive to the quaint village of Worth Matravers is the award-winning pub The Square and Compass famous for its top quality live music, homemade pasties ,cider and ales.
  • Great place to stay, really comfortable bunk beds!

  • A good base for exploring. Cosy, warm and clean. Friendly, helpful host

    Rita2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • The bunk house is a perfect place to stay. You have everything you need for a short stay. Glenn and Fran are very friendly and our daughter enjoyed playing with their dog Betty. The area is very beautiful. Old harry rocks and Corfe castle are definitely worth a visit.

    Tahnee2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • We have used the Bunk House twice as a base for walking the Isle of Purbeck stretches of the South West Coast Path - this is a simple, clean, comfortable, perfectly suited accommodation for walkers and others seeking to explore the surrounding Dorset countryside. The hosts Glenn and Fran were very responsive and helpful. Fully recommend.

    Tim2020-02-02T00:00:00Z
  • We loved the peaceful location and the children enjoyed playing in the nearby play area. The Bunkhouse was clean and well equipped for our stay with plenty of clean bedding and snuggly blankets. We received a warm welcome from Fran and Betty. The location was just right for us, close to both Swanage and Wareham. The Bunkhouse was warm and cosy and a lovely space to get away for a few days. Would highly recommend it!

This little studio is lovely and bright with it's own entrance. It has a small kitchenette and a shower room. It can be set up as a double or twin. There is a garden for your use which has stunning views of the hills and bay. It's close to the coastal path for wonderful walking opportunities and is just 0.8 mile/15 min walk, to the seafront/centre. Kitchenette has microwave, kettle, toaster, very small fridge, teas, coffee, milk, bread, preserves and cereals. Parking is on the road and plentiful
The studio is brick built and is completely self contained with its own entrance. It is light and bright, with a lovely view across to the purbeck ridgeway and the sea, when standing. The bedroom area measures approx 3.5x3.5 mtrs with a separate kitchenette and shower room. It should be noted that the ceiling slopes from 2.1 mtrs (6ft 9) at the front, to 1.9 mtrs (6ft 2) at the back. The bedroom and shower room have heating. I am told that the bed is extremely comfortable. It's a 5' 2" king size that can be split into two 2' 6" singles for twin occupancy. A fold up table and chairs is provided for you to dine in the bedroom. There is covered storage for bikes etc,and for walkers/cyclists to hang waterproofs to dry( please ask when you arrive). A launderette is just a few minutes away by foot. Please note that the fridge is only for bare essentials, as it is only about 18 inches square.
I am situated on the Jurrasic coast which is a World heritage site with walks along the coast plus the Purbeck Ridgeway, which affords stunning views over Poole Harbour on one side, the Purbeck Valley to the other, with Corfe Castle on the route. From my place it's easy to get onto the coast path (20 mins walk) and I'm also situated on the Priests Way which is a lovely 3.5 mile walk or cycle to the pretty village of Worth Matravers, with a superb vintage tea/ lunch /supper room the legendary Square and Compass pub(look it up) . The path has been recently resurfaced with loose stone so is accessible all year round. Most of the costal area is open access, so there are many other lovely walks from your door, including a walk through Dorset Wildlife Trust's Townsend Reserve, through to Dorset County Councils, Durlston Country Park and lots of National Trust Land. A few mins walk away is a caravan park with a bar and swimming pool for public use. There is a lovely safe beach in the town with easy access to the shops and eateries. within a short walk to there is a more secluded/ quieter beach, (north beach). The beach has again been awarded the coveted blue star for water quality in 2019 and North Beach is listed in the top 5 best beaches of Dorset . There are opportunities here to enjoy water and land sports such as kayaking, paddle boarding, coasteering, climbing etc. The RSBP nature reserve of Arne is nearby which was the location for the BBC's 2016/2017 Autumn Watch and Winter Watch highlighting its significant importance for wildlife, not only nationally but internationally too. The National Trust Studland Bay is 3 miles from here, with its fabulous 4 mile stretch of fine golden sands backed by an vast area of sand dunes and heathland full of wildlife. There are a few of good restaurants, and lots of lovely independent cafes in town. Daytime, Java is particularly good for coffee, vegan and vegetarian food, and Love Cake has a wide lunch /teatime menu. Evenings, Bliss and Chilled Red are recommended. All the pubs also serve food. The Black Swan is of particularly good quality (evening service Monday to Saturday and Sunday's lunch only) and is only a 5 min walk from here (early booking advisable. Phone them to book anytime after 5.30 daily ). A few of the pubs have live music at the weekends, but not all, so you can avoid that if you wish. There is a good variety of small independant shops selling a range of goods to suit various budgets, ideal for a good mooch about town. There are two supermarkets in the town both open until late Mon to Sat, a mini market close by that opens everyday until 20.00 including Sundays. Also Arkwrights spar convenience store open daily, from early to 22.00 is about a 5 min walk and the Texaco garage spar shop, a 10 min walk, is open early until 23.00. The Purbeck area and Swanage itself, hosts a wide variety of music and arts festivals, throughout the year to cover most people's taste. Also many organised walks, and nature based events led by various experts are available throughout the year too. The Web site 'Visit Dorset.com' is a good source of information for the local area and beyond. Walking into the centre of town from here is 10 /15 mins on lit streets, that are switched off at midnight.

The recently refurbished room is light and airy, looking out over the garden at the back of the house. It gets the sun in the afternoon and evening. The room is next to the shared bathroom. Fresh coffee and tea making facilities in room; breakfast, newspapers available on request. We are a friendly, sociable couple but respectful of guests privacy. Kate, my wife, is a beauty therapist and guests can book from a range of beauty treatments. We have a very friendly cat. Single guest discount.
There is a wooden framed double bed. The room overlooks the garden and gets the sun all afternoon and evening. The room is next door to the bathroom and toilet. Towels and toiletries provided. Various teas and fresh coffee in room.
The house is part of a late Victorian terrace in an area called Herston which has some lovely old local buildings. There is a good pub, The Globe, 50 yards down the road which has good beer, good food and garden. Opposite is an Indian restaurant, a fish and chip shop around the corner and a local shop with post office. It's a 20 minute walk/2 minute drive into the centre of Swanage with it's shops, supermarkets, many restaurants, other eateries and pubs. It has a blue flag beach set in a beautiful bay. It is a 'traditional' English seaside resort with a pier, Punch and Judy, weekly fireworks in August and all the amenities and attractions you'd expect. It is on the World Heritage 'Jurassic Coast' with stunning coastline and popular places such as Corfe Castle, Lulworth Cove and Studland Beach nearby. There is a steam railway from Swanage station.
  • Warm welcome. Good service.

  • We didn’t really stay in the area for long as were visiting friends at Corfe Castle but Duncan and Lucy were very accommodating and chilled about arrival times etc. The room was very nice. Bed was comfy and nice touches with glasses for water and tea, coffee making facilities and cafetière. I would recommend Duncan’s place.

    Juliet2019-10-06T00:00:00Z
  • Duncan's home is interesting and full of character. Conveniently located to explore the Isle of Purbeck generally and with a good selection of eating places nearby. The Castle Inn at nearby Corfe is excellent, especially the Thursday steak night and Friday fish night, but be sure to book well in advance.

The Garden Room is perfect for walkers as we are on the South West Coast Path and ideal for those wanting to get back to nature and unwind as we are off the beaten track. We are close to Corfe Castle and attractions in the Isle of Purbeck.
The Garden Room is a self contained, cosy double room overlooking the beautiful garden. The room is located in the rear garden of our house. The room has it's own seating area. There is a brand new double bed, breakfast table, separate wash basin and very compact wet room which is a combined toilet and shower space. Unfortunately not suitable for less abled people. Enjoy a continental style breakfast in the mornings; there is a kettle with tea and coffee, a toaster and small fridge supplied with milk, butter and preserves. There is Dorset Cereal, Kelloggs cereal and wholemeal bread for toasting. Gluten free diet can be catered for, please just let us know. Tap water is fron a mains supply so perfect for drinking. There is parking but it is not adjacent to the property and via unmade roads, not suitable for less abled people There is Wifi which can be very patchy at times and can drop out so please don't rely on it if you need it, very sorry but that's all we can do for the moment. Sit in the garden on a summer evening after a long hike relaxing with a beer or glass of wine. On a clear night, as there is no light pollution, you can gaze up at a sky full of stars.
Acton is a small tranquil hamlet of around fifty Purbeck stone cottages with unmade roads throughout. There is two pubs within walking distance. The King's Arms in Langton Matravers and the Square and Compass in Worth Matravers. The Square and Compass only serves pies and pasties but is a fantastic experience. The nearest shop is in Langton Matravers but please check that they are open. There are Coop and Budgen supermarkets in Swanage and lots of smaller shops.
  • Perfect little space in a beautiful location! lots of thoughtful touches!

  • Lovely little space ., very comfortable. Tip , the kettle covers any loo noise :-D Superb surroundings ideal for walking.

  • We loved our stay in Ian and Steve’s garden room. Lovely decor and styling. Very clean. Just the facilities we needed during a weekend of hiking. The breakfast items were a lovely touch as not much around. Easy check in instructions with photos. We couldn’t connect to the WiFi at all on either phone which wasn’t a big issue as was out for dinner at the local pub anyway and just watched TV when we got back. I loved the information booklet and we actually did one of the walks recommended in there the next day which was off the beaten track & had stunning views so enjoyed that. Thanks both :)

    Rachel2020-03-15T00:00:00Z
  • Ian and Steve have created a very cosy garden room. The room is stylish and in a great location to walk to the dancing ledge. The little touches such as the shampoo and condition and the butter and milk made this place amazing value for money. Thank you so much for a lovely stay.

    Jemma2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great time in Ian and Steve's Garden Room. The room was extremely beautiful and perfect for people who just want to relax and enjoy their free time. The bed is very comfortable, everything is clean, you have everything you need, even some breakfast and Ian and Steve are great hosts who reply quickly to your messages and provide you with lots of information about the region. We can definetly recommend others to book here!

  • I’ve been using airbnb since 2014, and this was by far my best experience. The space is cozy, tranquil, and the garden is beautiful. It was very clean and thoughtfully decorated, with surprisingly great amenities considering the space. My boyfriend and I stayed just one night (we wish we could have stayed longer), and felt very comfortable. Ian was so kind and gave excellent local recommendations. It is also walking distance to amazing sites including dinosaur footprints and coastal hikes. I hope to return someday soon as the area has so much to offer!

    Dina2020-03-03T00:00:00Z
  • Snug and cosy room and perfect for us for an overnight stay.

Located on the high street this characterful Purbeck stone cottage was originally built as the Baptist Chapel. It has a wealth of charm with many quirky features. It is situated on the Isle of Purbeck, which is an excellent location for outdoor activities and discovering the delights of the world heritage Jurassic Coast. Positioned close the Priests Way path you can explore a number of great coastal walks. Or you could just pop across to the fantastic local pub for a pint and bite to eat.
Chapel cottage is a charming house with a wealth of character. We don’t have an outside space to sit but the cottage is beautifully cool in the summer and cosy in the winter. We are located a stones throw from the pub and shop and we have Wifi, a TV, Blu-ray player and selection of films. There is also an enclosed secure back yard to wash muddy boots or store bicycles in. * As we are on the high street, traffic does pass the front of the cottage, however the front windows are all double glazed.
Langton Matravers is a small village 1 mile away from Swanage. There is a bus stop within 50m of the Cottage. The villiage has a pub, which has a great selection of beers and ales and serves good pub food. There is a post office/general store and Putlake farm which serves breakfast during the holiday season.
  • This is a fantastic getaway retreat. The cottage is spotless, warm and welcoming. Alison is a fantastic host and to have the log fire and candles ready for us was such a nice touch. The bed is super comfortable too! It’s the perfect location for walks and we had such a lovely time here. Do not hesitate to book!! Hope to be back soon.

    Martin2020-03-25T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed at Alison’s place for two nights out of a planned six - had to depart early because of flight changes. Alison was very understanding and generous, refunding much more than we expected. Her place is roomy and comfortable, with a great fireplace, all the amenities we needed, plus a very comfy bed! We highly recommend Alison’s place to other Airbnb travellers and hope to come back ourselves one day.

    Avery2020-03-20T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely one bedroom cottage. Very comfortable and beautifully decorated throughout. Great location for exploring the Isle of Purbeck. 30 minute walk into Swanage and scenic coastal walks beyond. Just a short drive / bus ride to Studland and it’s stunning 3 mile white sandy beach.

    Emma2020-03-18T00:00:00Z
  • I bought this trip as a gift to my parents who had an amazing weekend. Great walks straight out of the front door and they’re making plans for it to become an annual trip. Thanks for a great weekend away!

    Polly2020-03-15T00:00:00Z
  • My husband and I had a lovely weekend stay at Chapel Cottage! The space was very cosy, with a lovely log fire and comfy bed. The kitchen was kitted out with all that we needed and the Jurassic coast was just a short drive away!

    Charlotte2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • A light, bright and clean cottage. High ceilings and a large lounge and bedroom. Ideal for a couple. What was really lovely was the ready to light log burner so welcome on a cold night in February. Parking available right outside, pub and shop all in walking distance. Great location for coastal strolls.

    Jan2020-02-28T00:00:00Z
  • A beautiful cottage with everything you need. Langton Maltravers is a great location to be based to see the area. We had a great coastal walk from the house. The pub over the road was friendly and the food was plentiful and at a very reasonable price. The village shop stocked all we required. A lovely cottage in a beautiful location.

    Marie2020-02-21T00:00:00Z

A lovely central, light, comfortable room with fantastic views. Great for walkers, birdwatchers, beach lovers and more. Please note this is a third floor flat, so plenty of stairs! In centre of town next to a busy pub so can be a bit noisy at times.
Share my bathroom. Bedding and bath towels included. Tea and coffee available in the room.
Right in the centre of beautiful Swanage. You could not be closer to pubs, shops, cafes, restaurants and the beach!
  • Bella has a very nice, clean room for rent. A few stairs but well worth it for the ocean view! She also had a lot of great local knowledge about music, sight seeing, and hiking! I don't think I could have found a better place to stay in Swanage!

    James2020-03-02T00:00:00Z
  • Bella’s place is great. As a frequent visitor to Swanage I stay here whenever I can. Cosy and warm, very central and Bella is a welcoming host!

    Grainne2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • The location can’t be beat, and everything was very clean. We even had a small ocean view from our bedroom window! We would definitely stay here again.

  • We really enjoyed staying in Bella's flat, everything was as described, right in the middle of Swanage, very easy to find. Would definitely stay again!

  • We had a lovely time at Clare’s place. They have a beautiful view of the sunrise and Clare was very accommodating with us.

    Fares2020-03-17T00:00:00Z
  • We've had a really lovely weekend at Clare's. She was so welcoming and laid back. The room is very comfortable and whilst it's a shared bathroom, it wasn't any problem at all. Clare has two gorgeous dogs too. Location was fab for walking. Thank you Clare.

    Lucy2020-03-15T00:00:00Z
  • We had a lovely one-night stay at Clare's place. The room was cosy, quite spacious, warm and clean - pretty much everything we needed after exploring Dorset all day long! Clare recommended a great spot to have dinner nearby and she also served a breakfast for us in the morning. The house is only five minutes drive from Swanage Pier, so you can explore this charming town a bit.

    Julia2020-03-02T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great stay with Clare. She was welcoming and helpful, especially with our five month old son. Our breakfast was delicious and a brilliant location. Would definatley recommend for a short break in Swanage.

    Sarah2020-02-29T00:00:00Z
  • Clare is an amazing host, she makes you feel at home in no time. The room is lovely and breakfast delicious. The house is in a spectacular location with beautiful views from the garden. There are so many things to do both in sun or rain - take a walk to the centre of Swanage or walk along the coastal path and admire the views, short drive to various NT properties, beaches, visit the Tank museum, Monkey world, and so much more.... I stayed there with my 2 children (age 6 and 9) and we had everything we needed. And we've left with lots of lovely memories to take with us. Thank you Clare!

    Ivana2020-02-20T00:00:00Z

Coastal Cabin - self contained comfortable self contained cabin, 500 metres from the SW coastal path & half a mile from Swanage town centre & Durlston Country Park. Perfect for a couple, easy street parking.
  • Fiona's cabin was really lovely. Two of us spent a couple of nights here and it was warm and cosy as promised. It has a great kitchen so you can self cater but equally it is a 10 minute walk into lovely Swanage where you can find great pubs fish and chips and cafes etc. For those less able to walk just be aware the walk is very steep. It is a challenge but definitely doable for most. If not, there is plenty of free on street parking for those with cars. Communication was really quick with the host and we would 100% recommend anyone to stay here.

    Lauren2020-03-21T00:00:00Z
  • The cabin has everything you need for a break away. It is warm and cosy, a 10 minute walk to Swanage with a lovely town and beach to explore. Plenty of places to eat if you don’t want to cook. The Christmas tree was an added bonus. Feel very relaxed after our three night stay here.

    Nicky2020-01-01T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely Cabin in fantastic location close to Swanage town. Everything clean and well stocked in the accommodation. We would definitely stay there again.

  • We had a great stay at Fiona’s place. Had everything we needed for the two of us, and was nice and cosy. It’s only a short walk to town and seafront too. Would definitely recommend.

  • The Coastal Cabin is a very cosy but well equipped home from home that has everything you need for a short (or longer) stay. Clean, comfy, warm, good location, secure and pet friendly. 10 minute walk and you're in the town. Plenty of good pubs (with great food) also within walking distance. Great for a coastal stroll with the dogs, but take care near the cliffs... We didn't meet the hosts, but had no issues that negatively impacted our stay.

    Sean2019-12-15T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely cabin with comfortable bed, lovely hot water and warm. Beautifully clean and everything you need for a comfortable stay. 10 minute walk down to the town and 5 minute walk to the gardens / common. Lots of walking available.

    Viola2019-11-25T00:00:00Z
  • Fionas' cabin is a lovely warm, cosy, easily accessible place in Swanage. It is well equipped with everything one needs for a comfortable stay. It is possible to enjoy coastal walks form the cabin, or to walk in to the town down a very steep hill but it's a good way to keep fit walking back.

    Catherine2019-11-01T00:00:00Z
  • The Coastal Cabin is a lovely cosy place to stay. The area around the cabin is very quiet. The Cabin has everything you need for your stay. We enjoy walking to Old Harry’s Rock and onto Studland bay. We hopefully return again in the future.

  • Found the place easily through hosts instructions and had a very easy check in. I can’t explain how beautiful the hut and the surroundings are! The sounds of the local animals and the steam train is so relaxing (compared to the big city noises we are used to!). The hut was warm and cosy, it was sparkling clean and had everything that we needed to get cosy. There were leaflets in the hut telling us about the local sights which came in handy for the Old Harry Rocks wall we had! Thank you so so much and I can’t wait to book again!

Our lovely first floor flat is in an elevated position just off the town centre offering views to the sea from the lounge. Less than 2 minute walk to the beach. The property offers 1 good sized double bedroom and a small room with 2 single beds (READ BELOW). We can also provide a travel cot if requested. The apartment also offers a fully applianced kitchen and bathroom ( small bath with shower over) with everything you would need for your stay. WIFI is also included.
The flat occupies the first floor in a converted Victorian house and is a few minutes walk from Swanage Beach. This apartment would easily accommodate 4 and is very comfortable and homely. There are two single beds in the small second bedroom. One is a pull out so is close to the floor. We also have a sofa bed in the lounge if this is preferred. However, please note:- we do not allow 6 guests as the apartment is too small. There is free street parking outside the property however if it is full there is plenty of free parking up the road just a few minutes walk and everything in Swanage is in walking distance. We offer all basic cooking supplies, coffee machine, and pretty much every utensil you could think of if you like cooking! There are also four stools round a breakfast bar/island so you can sit down to eat.
The property is close to all amenities, and a short walk to the main square with chips shops, pubs and the stone quay and pier.
  • Really lovely apartment on the first floor of a Victorian style house so high ceilings and big windows. Homely, spacious, modern and clean with everything you could possibly need for a break away. Very well stocked utensils, pots and pans etc. in the kitchen complete with an island/breakfast bar with high stools to dine at. Lounge area perfect to lounge in after a long walk. Location great with just a few minutes walk to shops, sea front, restaurants, pubs etc...… We visited the very last weekend before the UK went on full lockdown and we felt so fortunate that we had decided last minute to visit such a lovely place not knowing what we had coming the following week. In all honesty we didn't need anything to be open as we took our own shopping, we had the sea, we went on walks, took in the view and fortunate enough for us the fish n chips shop was still serving. It was perfect 10/10 accommodation and location. Also found communication very quick and was able to arrange a later check out so that we could spend longer in Swanage. Parking free and right outside house. Not suitable for anyone that can't manage a small flight of stairs or a hill as he house is on a road on a steep hill. Hope to visit again, thank you :)

    Cassie2020-03-22T00:00:00Z
  • The place is easy to locate, close to all the amenities and has a great view of the seaside. Its a quiet neighbourhood, has friendly locals, and a good place for dog lovers (like me and my friends). Recommendable to people looking for a place to relax in and enjoy the scenic view of the white cliffs.

The Shepherds hut is situated in its own woodland and is off grid. You will be able to take in the beautiful night sky and fall asleep to the tranquil sound of the stream trickling by and our owls twit twooing after a day of walking the coast line and visiting the RSPB at Arne . It has its own small log/coal burner to make it nice and cosy and there is a lovely comfy double bed to relax on. You will also hear the night time noises of our woodland friends -the foxes barking and the deer rutting.
There is no wifi or electricity at the shepherds hut. This is your time away from your devices. The lighting is by lanterns powered by battery. So bring a good torch and some easy to slip on foot wear e.g. flip flops. If the weather forecast is inclement then waterproof foot gear is a good idea eg wellies. Come as if you are camping bringing your bedding (pillows, duvets & bottom sheet or sleeping bag) and wash things including towel. If you are cycling or coming by train or if you would just like us to provide you with bedding then we can happily do this for a small charge. There is a shower and loo in the downstairs of our house with independent access . This is about 100 yards away from the hut through a gate. We very much appreciate it if you can leave the hut as you find it by sweeping it out, clearing the ash from the fire and depositing your rubbish in the appropriately labelled bins by the shower room. We supply the first bucket of coal and kindling for you free of charge if you require any further buckets then there is a small charge of £5.
Once voted by the Guardian as the best place to live in England, Wareham has a great Saturday market every week come rain or shine. There is a farmer's market on the 4th Thursday of the month and a weekly produce market run by the local auctioneers. There is also an urban farm shop called the Salt Pig and two supermarkets the Co-op and Sainsbury's.
  • We were so happy to have found this place. Everything we needed for a cosy get away. Claire couldn't have helped enough. Lovely warm welcome and yummy breakfast ingredients too. Thank you!

    Kat2020-02-24T00:00:00Z
  • Me and my partner stayed at this delightful Sheppard's hut during the weekend of storm Dennis. Let me clear any doubt you might have about this place being cold, small or unsafe - we left thinking "was there even a storm?" The burner was so effective we found ourselves opening the windows to let heat out. During a storm. Trust me you won't be cold. For the size of the hut it feels like every inch has been taken into account to make it as useful as possible while still being presented as uncluttered or tight for movement. And as for safety, well we didn't blow away in winds reported at 50mph so neither will you. The host Claire is awesome, super friendly and genuinely has good vibes. Made us feel completely at ease and really puts in the effort. We stayed during valentine's weekend and she put petals down which was a nice touch. The food provided was incredible and all from the farm which made it even more special. It really is a gem of a find, even in the storm you could still hear the stream rolling by which is better than any sleep noise apps out there. We'v not stayed in a Sheppard's hut before but I can guarantee we won't stay in one better like this one ever again!

  • On our way back from a 2 night stay. Very cosy and warm with a coal stove and pretty lanterns. We loved making a fire and sitting outside getting back to nature. Thoughtful breakfast items from the farm and Claire was an amazing host, making sure we were both OK and looking after us. We are definitely feeling rested and will be back again soon!

    Natalie2020-01-31T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely stay here despite the January weather! Cosy cabin and great setting in a little wood with stream running next to it. The breakfast food was amazing and Claire was really helpful and friendly. Would definitely go back

  • Claire's shepherds' van is a little piece of utter tranquility in the middle of the woods. Highly recommend if you just want some time out from your life's craziness. Cosy and comfy right next to nature.

    Penny2020-01-19T00:00:00Z
  • A back to nature and simplicity experience with a generous host nearby.

    Sally2020-01-18T00:00:00Z
  • This shepherds hut is a real gem. It has everything you need for a quiet and peaceful get away. The woodland setting is perfect and a great base for exploring the Purbeck countryside. Claire is a wonderful hostess and nothing was too much trouble. Thanks again for the most perfect birthday weekend away! I’ll definitely be back!

  • The flat was lovely, quaint and in a really good location. There's lots to do, my highlights were Corfe Castle and Old Harry Rocks. My only negative was that the wi-fi was rather expensive to use (around £8 per day). I ended up buying an add-on from my phone provider and using it as a hotspot as I needed to get online to do work in the evenings.

    Zainab2020-01-04T00:00:00Z
