  • Perfect location for central Halifax. Nice stylish and cosy space, super warm which was nice as it was a pretty cold couple of days! Would definitely recommend Natasha’s place and visit again. Loads of really nice places to eat/drink 5 minutes into town.

    Natasha2020-02-28T00:00:00Z
  • The flat is great for staying in the middle of Halifax, everything is within easy walking distance. We only stayed one night so didn’t use the bath/shower but everything you could need/want is there. Master bed is really comfy, little notes left and folder of information is fantastic and there is lots of entertainment in the way of Netflix/dvds/books and a toy box which our son loved. Brilliant stay and brilliant host.

    Jessica2020-02-26T00:00:00Z
  • This is a lovely apartment, very centrally located. Being on the top floor it has great views out across the town. The bed was very comfortable and the kitchen well stocked. Overall very happy with place.

  • we had a wonderful stay here, fantastic location for all our needs. It was so handy being able to stroll to the coffee shop in the morning, and for the close proximity of the grocery store just a few blocks away. The home is charming, very quiet and relaxing. Excellent communication and resolution for a small issue that cropped up while we were there. We would definitely choose this home for future trips, next time we are in the area.

  • Perfect location, really charming place surrounded by great pubs cafés and shops. Had most meals at the flat and I had everything I needed to cook. Would like to return to Halifax and would 100% stay here again.

My home is colourful and comfortable. Modern and retro decor cosy along side some distinguishing original features that date back to 1744. The house is situated at a stones throw away from Halifax town centre where you will find the newly renovated Piece Hall, shops a plenty and an array of restaurants and craft ale/gin bars as well as residing near many idyllic towns and walks. The train station is also in walking distance with quick access to Manchester, Leeds, Bradford and York.
As well as the bedroom, guests have use of the shared bathroom and access to the yard at the rear of the house. You’re free to help yourself to tea and coffee in the kitchen.
I hope guests can enjoy the feel of my home and the convenient but quiet location in which it resides. Shops, bars, restaurants, cafes, theatres, cinemas, a bowling alley and the atmospheric Borough Market are spread amongst Halifax’s historical architecture. A 15 minute walk or few minute drive out of town will bring you Saville Park and Manor Heath playing fields. A 5 minute drive in the opposite direction will lead you to the idyllic Shibden Park and Shibden Hall which will be heavily featured in a new period drama about Anne Lister called ‘Gentleman Jack’. Bus and train services are in walking distance. The neighbouring towns of Sowerby Bridge, Hebden Bridge and Todmorden are close by in one direction and Huddersfield, Slaithwaite and Marsden in another. As well as Leeds and Manchester being within an away via train also.
  • Dean's place is fantastic. It's stylish, spotless, comfy, great value and Dean is a top bloke. Can't fault it. A real hidden gem and one of the best out there

    Chris2020-03-11T00:00:00Z
  • Dean’s house is wonderful - so beautifully decorated, very central, very comfortable. Every we needed! Dean was lovely and extremely welcoming. I would highly recommend staying at Dean’s to anyone visiting Halifax.

    Meg2020-03-09T00:00:00Z
  • Dean has a spacious, clean and well equipped house. It was really quiet with a comfy bed. His communication was great. Unfortunately the boiler stopped working while I was there but Dean arranged for me to get a hot shower elsewhere and was really accommodating about checkout timings which I appreciated! Thanks for a great stay.

    Christina2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely host, beautiful home, excellent location. Spotlessly clean and tidy.

    Laura2020-02-27T00:00:00Z
  • I reviewed Dean's place a few weeks back after a single night stay, but wanted to write a second review after staying a full week for work in the area. Dean is very friendly and accommodating, he even left me so fresh bread that he had made one morning! Despite being in the centre of town, it is a very quiet and tranquil property. I made full use of the kitchen facilities during my stay, preparing food for long days at work, and found all the utensils etc required for this. A really great stay all round!

    Joe2020-02-08T00:00:00Z
  • Very professional, communicative and flexible. Room was even more tasteful than the pics would tell. Highly recommended!

    Aiko2020-02-05T00:00:00Z
  • Dean has a really special place, with stylish decor, clean and comfortable rooms and facilities, and all within a 5-10 minute walk of the city centre. I only stayed a night, but have booked a week long visit for my next stint of work in the area, which I'm very much looking forward to. Highly recommended!

Quality 1000 pocket sprung mattress , Indian cotton sheets and towels anti allergy duvet and pillows, trying to give you every comfort and a great nights sleep everything I look for when I travel .Very quiet location within 2 min walking distance of piece hall , train station , bus station , eureka , Victoria Theatre
  • Ideally placed for the centre of town. We were seeing a show at the theatre and it was less than 5 mins on foot to get there. Parking on street was available. There was a small charge for an hour or son on the Friday, but then its free after 6. We were up and out walking Saturday so didn't have to pay and Sunday was free. Apartment is small but has everything we needed for our stay. The place was clean, kitchen well equipped and the bed comfy. If you want somewhere to use as a base to explore or head out for walks it's ideal. Neil was very good at communicating with us and offered suggestions of places near the theatre we may like to try.

    Sue2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • Good location close to Halifax centre but quiet.

    Rhena2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • Neil is a very helpful host and the flat is in a great spot to get into town and out and about into the surrounding countryside. Flat is clean and has everything you need. Shower is great and bed and duvet very comfortable and cozy. Would recommend.

    Joanne2019-11-07T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely little flat on the 1st floor - very cosy, quiet and comfortable. Great bed & bedding. Neil was a very kind, responsive host and added a few extra things that were needed for my 10 day stay. Perfect location for all things central and transport links all over Yorkshire.

    Alix2019-10-31T00:00:00Z
  • Neil’s place is perfect for visiting Halifax! It’s a short 5-8 minute walk from the train station, and a great jumping off point for exploring this quaint historic town. It is on a quiet street, but most sites of interest are in easy walking distance. Neil also gave great recommendations (for both food and sightseeing) and told a few stories that only someone who has lived in Halifax his whole life could share. It was really special! We didn’t have the best weather, but the apartment was warm and cozy to come back to after walking around in the rain all day.

  • Superb central location. The apartment is spacious and has quality furnishings despite the budget friendly price. As a host Gary was great. Quick communication and was on hand if I needed anything. Would gladly recommend the apartment.

  • Clean well furnished flat . Perfect town centre location .

    Fred2019-12-13T00:00:00Z
  • We needed a one-night in Halifax, close to a party venue at Dean Clough Mills, at a reasonable price, and Garry's place did not disappoint. Some highlights: Garry was able to answer our questions about the location and gaining access promptly and precisely. Gaining access was quick and easy. We were able to find (roadside) parking right outside the apartment (which was also reasonably priced - £2 for 2 hours; free between 6PM & 8AM and all day Sunday). The apartment was warm, the bed comfy, and tea and coffee was provided. As expected, because it's a town-centre location, there was some noise at 'kicking out' time, but nothing a pair of ear plugs couldn't mask. Happy to recommend Garry's place.

Private self-contained studio flat in stone cottage. The space has a double bed, 2 comfortable chairs, dining table and chairs, fireplace with electric stove, central heating. There is a small kitchen area with sink, kettle, toaster, combination microwave/oven/grill and fridge. There is a shower room with wash basin, loo and electric shower.
This is a 'granny flat' located on the ground floor of a family house. It is completely separate from the rest of the house, although it is on the same central heating system. It's got everything you would want for a short or even long stay, with a kitchen and dining space and comfortable seating area. The space is perfect for short or long stays. We offer a discount on stays of a week or more. Check in is after 12 noon, but we can be flexible, contact us if you want to arrive earlier, it may be possible. Check out is 11am, similarly talk to us if you want to stay longer than that.
This is a lovely quiet neighbourhood, it feels like a village on the outskirts of Halifax. We look out over the valley, and are on the edge of lovely woods. We're very close to the iconic Wainhouse Tower and are surrounded by lovely countryside and parks. There is a Tesco within a few minutes walk, and lots of good places to eat and drink nearby, including the wonderful Big 6 pub. If you want ideas about places to eat please ask us. The Tower House Hotel is a very short walk away - handy if you are attending a wedding or event there but don't want to stay at the hotel.
  • Staying at Anne and John's place was so relaxing! I had an entire flat to myself which was brilliant because I needed to get a lot of work done. Anne and John are super kind. They left me to myself but were always available to answer any questions I had. They know loads about the area and are always up for a nice chat. Anne even agreed to let me use her washing machine because I was going to travel on after check-out, which is amazing, not everybody is OK with that. The view is amazing, you can see the entire valley and Sowerby Bridge at the foot of the hill. And the bed was the most comfortable one I've ever slept in. Definite recommendation from me, if you come to Halifax or Sowerby Bridge, stay with Anne, you'll be well looked after.

The flat is in a peaceful location, spotlessly clean, and the bed is very comfortable. In short, a lovely base for a holiday in an area which has lots of interesting places to visit.

  • Olivia’s place is quaint and has magnificent character throughout of a former era, with picturesque views on the doorstep (Wakefield Gate and Wainhouse Tower). Halifax Town Centre is also a short walk away (20-30 minutes), follow The Cats Steps route for a bygone stroll. The cottage is situated on a peaceful street, with parking directly outside and a friendly local pub just next door. If you’re in need of a restful break I can’t commend Olivia’s place enough. Kind Regards Koral and Matthew.

  • I really enjoyed my stay here. It is a lovely rustic cottage and in a convenient location for both Halifax and walks along the river. There is a superstore nearby that will have all you need. Also some reviews refer to the bed being on the floor, this has now been changed and is in a frame. Very comfortable.

Our comfortable traditional stone terrace house is conveniently located for exploring Calderdale. The house has a lounge with a beautiful wood burning stove ( wood not provided) There is a small kitchen, a large bathroom with and one comfortable double bedroom with an orthopaedic mattress. There is Wifi, small patios to front and back with table and chairs. The house is situated in an elevated position above the town of Sowerby Bridge and has a wonderful view over hills in the distance.
Cosy but spacious accommodation for two people. The house is in a quiet street above the town of Sowerby Bridge with far reaching views over the countryside. There is outside space front and back with seating at the front and tables and chairs at the back. Theres free on street parking. The bedroom faces South westerly and has a double bed with orthopaedic mattress. There is a spacious wardrobe and large chest of drawers and generous shelves. We have a large bathroom with corner bath and shower. Lounge has views over distant countryside. Theres a wood burning stove ( we don't provide wood unfortunately as we don't live nearby)
Sowerby Bridge is a small Pennine Town with an industrial past. Situated in Calderdale, on the river Calder, Sowerby Bridge is quieter and less touristy than nearby Hebden Bridge but also has an interesting canal basin and lovely nearby countryside. The town is within easy access of all that Calderdale has to offer. The town boasts several good cafes, pubs and restaurants and is well connected by rail and bus. The nearby countryside offers plentiful walks and there are many excellent country pubs. The house is in an elevated position above the town in a safe neighbourhood and is close to bus stops for nearby Halifax, Hebden Bridge and Ripponden. Bronte country is within reach by car or public transport and it is also possible to reach Leeds and Manchester by train There is an annual rushbearing festival in the town which is well worth experiencing Some popular places to eat and drink in the area include The newly opened and highly recommended Moorcock Inn, Norland, see the review by Jay Rayner in the Guardian Up the road in Warley village is the fantastic Maypole inn, great views from the garden, large portions and great value, this is walkable for the fit on a nice evening ( uphill to get there - 30 min walk). Also in Warley is the Winterburn Pub which has amazing views over the area Gimbals restaurant down the road in Sowerby Bridge, fine dining in a lovely setting. The Village Indian restaurant is probably the nearest eatery , excellent Indian food and they also do takeaways. Another recommended Indian restaurant is Syhiba, also on Wharf st. The Hobbit in Norland - has a Sunday Carvery and views over Sowerby Bridge. Best value and biggest menu choices locally is the Sportsmans inn, Barkisland - also does an excellent Sunday Carvery The Moorings pub in Sowerby Bridge is in an old water mill by the canal which serves food. There's a lovely cafe down the road from us on Wharf St called Moonbean, selling breakfast, lunch, sandwiches, cakes, nachos and with gluten free, veggie and vegan options ( though not a veggie only place). The cafe is licensed and has a large selection of gins amongst other alcoholic drinks. They also do smoothies. The Larder delicatessen on Wharf street also has a cafe attached. Gabriel's cafe, near to the bottom of Gratrix lane ( so probably our nearest) serves coffee and cakes and sandwiches with indoor and outdoor seating. The nearest pub/bar to the house is the Peacock at the top of Bairstow Lane on Burnley Rd. Other good pubs in the town of Sowerby Bridge are - The Hogshead ( real ale brewed on the premises) ; Hollins Mill ( large selection of real ales) ; The Firehouse ( also serves food), The Blind Pig for live music and late opening. The town is also fortunate to have a good Wetherspoons Pub, The Commercial- serving food and drink all day ( including breakfast) . There's a Lidl and a Tesco in Sowerby Bridge- there's other large stores and supermarkets including Sainsburys in Halifax. Halifax is within very easy reach by car or public transport and the newly renovated Piece Hall and nearby Square Chapel are particularly worth visiting.
  • This is a great little house . It felt really welcoming as soon as we went through the front door . Everything you need is there and I cant think of a single thing that could’ve improved our stay . I used the car a lot during our stay but I never had a problem parking right outside the house . Thank you Cath 😀

Dyer's Cottage Yorkshire is a charming, romantic, 370 years old traditional Yorkshire stone cottage, which has been lived in by my family since 1777 or maybe earlier. It is located in the Wainhouse heritage area less than 2 miles from Halifax town centre and 1 mile from Copley (Lloyds Banking Group) and Sowerby Bridge. It offers luxurious accommodation for 1, 2 or 3 adults and a child. It is extremely conveniently situated in a smart residential area close to shops, pubs, restaurants, bus routes and is just a mile from Sowerby Bridge railway station or less than 2 miles from Halifax station. Please note we have been able to add a 12% discount for 4/6 day stays as well as 15% for a week or more. It is fully regulated and registered and is also compliant with regard to insurance and personal liability. Dyer’s Cottage is a really special place to stay because of its long documented history, both of the building, its occupants and the local area. Originally a farmhouse, this attractive building has a long well documented past and now offers comfortable and cosy self catering accommodation. Ceilings are high, rooms are spacious but please be aware that the kitchen door is shorter than usual and the stairs leading upstairs to the bedroom and bathroom are steep with an irregular top one. This all adds to the quirkiness however! The cottage is on a hillside with lovely views across Calderdale but there are a few steps up the path from the road to the front door. The garden is at the front of the cottage and faces South so gets lots of sun and is a mixture of Yorkshire paving with seating, flower beds and gravel. There is a gate 60cm high to enclose it from the path. Tall hedges provide privacy on 2 sides and there is a wall to the end which drops to the pavement below. The sleeping opportunities are flexible with a superking zip and link Hypnos bed which, with prior notice, can be configured as 2 singles. There is also a leather sofabed on a metal base so that 2 people can sleep in separate rooms or a 3rd adult can be accommodated too. Please discuss with the owner if this is required. An additional charge of £20 a night will apply for 3 adults. We can also provide a z bed for a child under 10 and a travel cot, either of which will fit in the bedroom or landing. Maximum occupancy is 3 people + a child age under 10 Now for some cottage details! The cottage has a modern combination gas boiler supplying heat and hot water. There is a radiator in each room. Wi-fi is available throughout the cottage. The advertised speed is good (35 Mbps) but this unfortunately cannot be guaranteed as it has an external provider. The country style Shaker cream kitchen with oak worktops, is fully equipped with modern electric appliances including a ceramic hob, electric oven, 450mm dishwasher, microwave, Dolce Gusto coffee maker, pans and cooking utensils. The large sitting room has a gas stove set into an inglenook fireplace, comfortable seating for 4 people, an extendable antique dining table with 4 chairs, a 40" SMART tv with over 100 freeview channels, all of which make it a lovely room for you to relax in style and comfort on the leather sofa or the most unusual chair featuring local placenames. There is also a DVD player, games and a small library of books. This is a real “home away from home”. In the bedroom, the extra wide and long bed takes pride of place and can also be configured as 2 twins on request. Restored features like a decorative cast iron fireplace, an old gas light from the cottage and restored pine doors to the wardrobe all cast a romantic hue. A travel cot or z bed can be provided on request for an additional small person and this can fit in either the bedroom or landing outside but it is not structurally possible to fit a stair gate to the landing. We can also provide a baby bath seat, a bumbo, high chair, booster seat, changing mat and childrens’ books and toys. The contemporary bathroom features a modern white suite with pale grey porcelain wall and floor tiles. The extra long bath widens at one end to form a shower cubicle with a glass screen with an Aqualisa digital rainshower. In addition there is a handheld shower attachment. The illuminated mirror and shaving socket are above the washbasin which has drawers and matching white gloss cupboards hide the boiler and washer/dryer. Between the bedroom and bathroom is a landing which has a desk so it can be used as a study/workstation if required. During the 19th century, Dyer's Cottage was owned by the Wainhouse family who let the Master Dyers at their dyeworks live there. The distinctive porch can be seen on quite a few local Wainhouse properties and the initials JEW can be seen on our front wall above a former well. John Edward Wainhouse built himself a lovely residence nearby which is now the Grade 11 listed Wainhouse Tavern. He also built the 77m Wainhouse Tower which stands above all the surrounding area and can be seen from miles around, even at night when it is illuminated. On summer Bank Holiday Mondays, it is open to those who are able to climb 403 steps to the top, from where on a clear day, you can see 50 miles to Blackpool. This is a truly special area to stay in to explore Calderdale which features in recent BBC tv productions such as Last Tango in Halifax and Happy Valley. A new Sally Wainwright drama called Gentleman Jack has been shown recently by HBO and BBC about the somewhat unconventional life of a 19th century local lady called Anne Lister who lived at Shibden Hall just 4 miles away. A trip to this magnificent 500 year old house, with its amazing parkland, is a must. Please be aware it closes on Dec 24th 2019 and reopens in March 2020 but then closes again probably at the end of May to mid July 2020 and probably from September also for 🎞 of series 2 of Gentleman Jack. Explore Halifax with its splendid 1000 year old Minster, the parish church of St John the Baptist and nearby is the magnificent Piece Hall. This amazing Grade 11 listed building, built in 1779 for handloom weavers to sell their pieces of cloth, has just undergone a massive renovation to become the new focal point of Halifax culture, shopping and entertainment and offers individual shops, interesting galleries, a museum and bars and cafes too. Make the most of your time together with blissful strolls through woods to beautiful waterfalls, or venture on to the heather clad moors or explore the canals watching the bird life. Relax in the sunny garden together, admiring the view across to Norland or at night gaze at the stars and the magnificent local landmark, Wainhouse Tower. Explore the beautiful hills of the South Pennines, the Yorkshire Dales National Park and Bronte Country or take a train trip to Leeds, Manchester or York if you fancy shopping and culture. Don't forget to visit quirky Hebden Bridge with its markets, individual shops and cafes and vibrant music scene. Excellent eating places abound including a really friendly pub nearly next door which offers award winning beer and home cooked food. PLEASE NOTE THAT WE ONLY CHARGE A MODEST CLEANING FEE and we do hope that you will leave the cottage clean, neat and tidy with the dishwasher emptied etc. Our housekeeper always visits between guests to do a final tip top clean. She also tells me how tidy the guests have been! Cottage owners do expect their home to be cared for by guests and it is extremely disappointing when this is not the case. Please note this is a NO SMOKING property. Dyer’s Cottage Yorkshire is listed on several booking sites where both you and we have to pay. We support book direct. We may occasionally allow a well behaved dog to stay but this is after a serious discussion. Do NOT book without talking to me about it. An additional cost will be payable if allowed. WE STRONGLY SUGGEST THAT ALL GUESTS TAKE OUT TRAVEL INSURANCE in case of unfortunate eventualities which may occur.
Calderdale has a fine industrial heritage connected to the textile industry and some spectacular 19th century architecture relating to this boom time. The spectacular 18th century Piece Hall in Halifax, where hand weavers used to sell their cloth, is now a fabulous cultural and tourist destination with shops, activities, bars and restaurants. The local tourist feature is Wainhouse Tower, the tallest folly in the world, which can be seen from miles around and is especially beautiful at night when it is illuminated. It is open on summer Bank Holiday Mondays if you have the energy to climb 403 steps but the views are amazing. The cottage is located less than 2 miles from Halifax and 1 mile from Copley and Sowerby Bridge. If you enjoyed the landscapes of the tv series "Happy Valley" and " Last Tango in Halifax" you will be prepared for the beautiful unspoilt moorland scenery nearby. This is a walkers paradise and the canals are easy to walk to directly from the cottage. Shopping, pubs and restaurants are all close, many within easy walking distance. There are regular buses close by and a car isn’t essential. A friendly pub 3 doors away with pool table, quiz night, and occasional live music serves delicious home cooked Yorkshire fare and award winning real ales.
  • Dyers Cottage is well-located (though best to have a car), including having a decent pub that is virtually next door. It is an historical cottage that is spacious and has undergone a lovely, modern renovation to make it a great place to stay. Upon arrival in the dark and rain, it was marvellous to walk in to a large, heated living space. The self-checkin arrangements are good. Jane has provided many excellent facilities and useful items for guests. These include marvellous, automatic central heating and a gas fireplace, an excellent array of kitchen appliances, cutlery and crockery, placemats and coasters, Dyers Cottage-branded items, coffee pods for the coffee machine, roll of paper towels, good quality bedding for both the main bedroom and the sofabed, box of tissues in the main bedroom, handsoap, shampoo and conditioner in the bathroom, good towels, washing machine and accompanying washing liquids, very good internet, very good TV with various DVDs. Jane has also provided a comprehensive set of guiding materials for using these facilities. There are various other nice touches, including various books and guides to the area, and about the local historical figure Anne Lister (the subject of the TV series Gentleman Jack) and her Shibden Hall estate (which is well worth a visit). Dyers Cottage is an excellent place to stay while you explore Halifax. Jane provides excellent, quick and responsive communication, and is very eager to help with any issues that may arise. Jane is indeed a super host.

  • Lovely quaint cottage with amazing views. Warm and cosy. Ideal for travellers who want to experience the nearby amenities without all the noise and hassle from the town. Lots of parking but remember to inflate your car tyres as it's hilly and cobbled in places. Jane gave great details about checking in and was very patient when we struggled using the key! We were appreciative of all the Gentleman Jack paraphernalia on the coffee table. Would recommend.

  • Delighted cottage situated on a quirky hillside in Halifax with stunning views from the bedroom. Sparkling clean with many thoughtful touches, we really enjoyed our stay. Thanks Jane!

  • We really had a wonderful stay at Dyers Cottage, we will certainly be back. We especially appreciated the documented history sheets and photos of Dyers cottage and the restoration that Jane have achieved, such a great piece of history. The cottage is perfectly situated, with so many great places to visit within a short drive. A wonderful comfy cottage, we loved it.

    Mandy2019-10-23T00:00:00Z
  • The place was great. Nice pub just up the road where you can have a nice pint and chat. Everything was easy and convenient. Would stay again.

  • Dyer's Cottage is a bit of Yorkshire history and sits below Wainhouse Tower which means that you will never be lost trying to find one's way home. Cozy and private, the hobbit like dark stone exterior opens into a modern and well-lit interior. The main bed upstairs is a comfort and dream machine; big and inviting, warm and delightful. Modern bath and shower, washing machine, and small but efficient kitchen. The fold out couch bed is also firm and comfortable; if needed. The front garden is a joy on a sunny day.

    Brian2019-05-13T00:00:00Z
  • We had a really nice week at Jane’s place. The only downside is you have to be prepared for lots of stairs. (From the street to the door and between floors. I loved the shower and the bed was great. There is a great view from the bedroom window as well.

  • I stayed with Valerie for a few days as I was on placement in the hospital across the road and didn't want to head back to Leeds, where I live, each night. It was probably the best decision I've made in a long while! Perfect location, a lovely warm welcome from Valerie and such a wonderful and cosy room. The bed is huge and has lovely sheets and a cosy duvet, I really enjoyed my sleep there! Valerie is a lovely, friendly person and I felt like she was really easy to get along with and have a chat to. I wouldn't hesitate to stay with Valerie again!

  • Valérie is a wonderful, kind host. I felt most welcome during my stay and the room had everything I could need - including a good size desk, radiator and extra blankets. Highly recommend!

  • Valerie was amazing! She was kind, thoughtful and generous. Her home was spotless and very comfortable (especially the bed)! There were artistic touches everywhere... very tasteful. The location was central to Halifax and within easy access of the railway, hospital, an amazing local park and the historical Piece Hall. Valerie shared her local knowledge and made me feel welcome. I shall definitely stay here again... It was a relaxed atmosphere in a safe location. Valerie not only respected my privacy, but simultaneously offered supportive friendship, shared her local information e.g. taxis and restaurants and welcomed me to her home. Valerie truly went the extra mile to ensure that I had everything that I needed, including my own key. Thank you so much, Valerie! A perfect place to stay! I felt refreshed and inspired after my visit...

  • Staying at Valérie’s house was a wonderful experience! From the start she was friendly and helpful, giving me advice on how to get around Halifax and what to do and see. She even invited me along to see some music, which was really amazing! Staying with her felt more like staying with a friend. Her house is in a safe and quiet neighborhood of Halifax, and you can walk or take the bus fairly quickly into the center of the city. Her house is really cozy and well decorated, with artistic touches everywhere. The bed was really comfortable and everything was clean. I would really recommend staying with Valérie!

400 year old stone built farmhouse, cottage and barn conversion which has being fully modernised over recent years. Whilst Emily Bronte worked at Law Hill House overlooking the farm she was aware of a family feud involving Jack Sharpe at Law Farm. The framework for Wuthering Heights was based on her knowledge of events at Law Farm.
400 year old farmhouse and farm cottage available to rent within curtilage of Law Farm with barn conversion . Across the yard is a double storey stable block and smithy which houses Stables Cafe and Tearoom.
Small hilltop village set in a semi rural location within walking distance of both Halifax and Brighouse. The Piece Hall in Halifax has recently reopened after extensive renovation offering a mix of small cafes and bars, shops , open air concerts and recently featured on the BBC Antiques Roadshow. Brighouse was made famous during the 1970’s when Brighouse and Rastrick Brass Band joined Terry Wogan to perform the Floral Dance on BBC Top of the Pops.
  • The farmhouse is a great space with fab views. The place is very clean and welcoming. Loved the fire in the pink lounge. The shower in the main bedroom didn’t have great pressure. Margaret was a great host, very helpful.

  • It was really clean and the host was very kind. I recommend this lovely house near farm. which is also good to see nature side with comfortable mind.

  • We knew we were in safe hands when Margret hussered is into what proved to be a warm and welcoming haven through the duration of Storm Dennis. This is a wonderful place to call home from home for a weekend. Thoughtful, guest focused and unobtrusive, our host could not have done more to make us feel relaxed. The house felt like a wonderful home from the moment we arrived, everything was easy and to hand. My partner, my brother and his family and dog needed a place for the weekend whilst visiting for a family get together. This could not have been better for our needs:- a a large farm house, plenty of space to be together and space to be apart. In fact a couple of the rooms were large enough to do both at once. If we come together as a group again we would love to stay here for a second time.

    Tim2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • Stayed here with my family. We had a great time, with Margaret being a fantastically friendly and super-responsive host. Really delighted with the goodies left on our arrival as we had travelled by train and had nothing with us other than clothes, toothbrushes and toothpaste! A stunning place that could easily accommodate many more people than just our family! Nice view from the conservatory. Would love to stay again if the place is free for future visits to the area. Margaret asked if there was anything missing (such as utensils etc) that we missed during our stay on our departure, so she is clearly looking to make visits for future guests even better than we experienced. Thank you Margaret!

  • This is a fantastic place to stay. Everything was better than we thought in the description and the lovely little touches were a surprise. It’s very spacious and clean. Margaret is a super host!

  • We couldn’t have asked for a better place to stay! The house was beautiful and much bigger than we were expecting. Stunning location and Margaret was such an incredible host going above and beyond to make our stay really enjoyable. We wish we could have stayed longer!

  • This was a great Airbnb. Very close to everything and the town is small and easy to navigate. There is great security and the hosts always messaged me and kept in contact throughout my stay. Would highly recommend staying here I had no issues.
