  • Really beautiful home with tons of art. We particularly enjoyed our morning before we left. Mario let us journal in the sunroom and it has a beautiful vibe!

  • Mario's place is Latin Urban. He has an artistic eye and he has done some really clever things to keep his construction project going forward without a lot of cost. My room was very comfortable, the kitchen was stocked and user friendly and the common space was actually nice to hang out in. Everything was clean considering the ongoing renovation. Mario is putting his heart and soul into the building, so if you are looking for something unique and cool at a great value, then go stay with Mario. I know I will be back.

2 Story Cabin sitting on a hill that looks over a hollow and small stream. Privacy abounds with nature surrounding you. It's the perfect getaway from hectic modern life.
Feel like you’re sleeping in the treetops in the private 2 story cabin. This cabin is built into the hillside to give you an amazing view of the hollow. Watch for deer, listen for turkeys or simply be one with nature. Sit by the fire pit and listen to the stream running along the property. If civilization calls, head out to Harrisburg for a great selection of restaurants or to go to a Senators baseball game on City Island. Or, spend the day at Hershey Park where you can ride world class roller coasters, see the local wildlife at Zoo America or build your own candy bar at Chocolate World. If the outdoors calls, the Appalachian Trail is less than 10 minutes away. You can fish the Susquehanna or numerous other creeks in the area. Or, head over to Little Buffalo State Park with its trails, lake and public swimming pool. If shipping is your thing, antique stores abound with Sledworks in Duncannon or Penn Ave Trading in Newport. Or, hit the outlets while you’re in Hershey. There are 3 grocery stores within a 15 minute drive from the cabin. Our cabin sits about 1/2 mile down a dirt road. We have another cabin a short ride down from that one that is also available to rent. But, both feel worlds away from each other. We live on the same dirt road so are always available if you would need anything. It’s important to note that this count is a sportsman’s paradise. You will hear shooting, not only from the range a few miles away, but from other areas as there are many hunters in this area.

  • Ann was an amazing host! She was very responsive and helpful. The actual home was truly something special! Huge ceilings and some of the most comfortable beds. My fellow guests and I loved the warmth of the home and the fire pit! 10/10 would recommend!

    Zachary2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • This is our second time staying at Ann’s beautiful home. It is very clean and cozy. Ann is a great communicator and checked in on us leading up to and during our stay. We would recommend this quiet retreat for anyone looking to get away and relax.

    Terri2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • Ann is one of the best hosts I’ve dealt with. The house is awesome, clean and very comfortable. I’ll definitely be back to the cozy cabin.

    Zach2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • Ann's cabin is lovely! We were presently surprised by the amount of open space surrounding the cabin! Indoors, the kitchen and bathrooms were fully stocked, everything was clean, and the fireplace was cozy. Ann was very responsive and great to work with. It was the getaway my friends and I needed.

    Jonelle2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • Pictures don’t do it justice. Gorgeous cabin in a private, but accessible setting. Ann was a pleasure to communicate with and instructions for the home were clear. Would recommend to any one looking for a quiet cabin getaway.

    Matt2020-02-02T00:00:00Z
  • The cozy cabin was exactly that, cozy! It was beautiful and clean and festively decorated for the holidays. It comfortably accommodated 3 couples and could accommodate more if needed. It’s right next to a creek and was so peaceful. Coming from NYC, it was just what we needed. The local grocery store was about 10mins away and everyone in town was sweet. Ann was accommodating to our stay and very responsive to my messages. She even left us a sweet note upon arrival with a binder of instructions for the cabin so we didn’t need to bother her much at all. It’s also very close to Hershey which has shopping and restaurants. If you’re looking for a cozy cabin getaway, this is the place!

Escape from it all at this welcoming cabin set along the Little Juniata Creek.
Find your peace on 7 wooded acres along the Little Juniata Creek in Central PA. The creek is perfect for exploring or fishing for trout (PA license required). There's plenty of space around the fire pit for ghost stories and roasting marshmallows. You can dine outside under the pavilion on inside on the screened porch. If you decide to head out, we are right between the Susquehanna and Juniata rivers. The Susquehanna is great for fishing, while the Juniata offers great tubing, kayaking and canoeing. There are several outfitters in the area that can arrange a trip for you. We are less than 5 miles from the Appalachian Trail. Hershey Park is less than an hour away. Penn State clocks in at just over an hour if you're looking for a place to call home on game weekend. We are centrally located between NYC, DC, Philly and Baltimore.
We are almost at the bottom of a 1 mile dirt road. You are surrounded by tall trees with only one neighbor that can possibly be seen through the trees, if you know where to look. Other than that, the space is pretty much yours.

  • Stayed here with my dog while on a work trip for the week, it was a great, well-kept space. My dog loved having the fenced in yard and I loved having such a functional, cute kitchen so much so that I stayed in and cooked more than I went out. Noise from the train out back can be a bit to get used to but was definitely not a deal breaker.

Very quiet setting right off Route 322, 81, and 83. We sanitize. If you need estimates for distance, use the "Country Club of Harrisburg" on Fishing Creek Valley Road. We are very close to the Farm Show building. Brand new queen bed and Wifi. The apartment is part of our house, but it is well sound proof with separate entrance and code pad. We do not allow pets. And we are not child proofed.
The bedroom was newly renovated and the kitchen and bathroom updated. There is a brand new queen size bed and there's a small kitchenette and separate bath. See photos of kichenette. The apartment is part of our house. The entrance is separate with a keypad so that guests can come and go as they want. There is one small step into the house, but no stairs. There is a front porch and a back patio to relax. There is an extra heater and AC. There is a shower but no tub.
The house is up the hill. There is one small step into the house. The house is surrounded by peaceful woods and a safe secure quiet setting. Sometimes the deer are in the back yard. There is a manual with some pamphlets about the area. The neighbors house is a little old, but she is very nice.
  • Great place for the price. Small, quiet and peaceful for a get away weekend! Will definitely look at this place again.

Rocky is a historic 1922 caboose at Fort Hunter Park. Imagine you are on the Orient Express! Next to the world's longest stone arch railroad bridge. On the riverbank for fishing or kayaking or incredible sunsets. We have bikes and kayaks. Not to be missed.
Rocky is a restored and enhanced 1922 wooden caboose. Amazing views of the river on the riverside deck, kayaking and fishing on the river, walks along the old Pennsylvania canal in the park beside Rocky. Your own private rail car on the Orient Express bound for a wonderful memory...

  • Perfect location on the water front. Great for train lovers. Easy access to many great places.

    Sharon2019-10-31T00:00:00Z
  • The Caboose was a great weekend getaway! The hosts were very friendly and accommodating. We had great views of the river and the living space was very clean. I would highly recommend to anyone to stay here.

    Dan2019-10-13T00:00:00Z
  • Had a great time at Gary’s place despite the rain on our last two days. The caboose was a very unique and interesting stay. We had enough gumption to crawl up into the loft each night. I would imagine it would be quite difficult for someone less agile than myself; as it was pretty difficult for me. But, we insisted to do so, so that we could be part of the “whole experience.” Really explored the whole Harrisburg area as well as Carlisle, Marysville, and Lemoyne. Watching ALL the trains go by on the Rockville Bridge was a special treat for my husband who loves locomotives. Weather held out long enough for us to enjoy the deck and rocking chairs. Thanks again Gary! :)

    Jennifer2019-10-07T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful stay in the caboose. The location was fantastic and we loved the availability of kayaks and bikes. It’s a tiny house so close quarters and limited amenities should be expected but we had everything we needed. It is also very close to a relatively busy road so road noise can be a problem, but it is otherwise surrounded by a park and the gorgeous Susquehanna river. The host, Gary, was available but not intrusive and very welcoming. We were very happy with our stay.

    Morgan2019-10-01T00:00:00Z
  • Gary offered a later checkout so we could further explore Harrisburg. The river views morning and evening were spectacular. A kayak adventure was exciting too! I'd definitely recommend to others.

    Amanda2019-09-08T00:00:00Z
  • Awesome place! Unique and beautiful views!

    Alyssa2019-08-20T00:00:00Z
  • This is a great place for a relaxing weekend. Watching the trains cross the river from the porch and being so close to the water were great. This is also close to town so it's easy to check out restaurants, breweries, markets, and other interesting things. Kayaking on the river was also lots of fun. I would definitely stay here again.

    George2019-08-18T00:00:00Z
  • The Caboose was a really neat experience; especially if you love trains like I do. The restoration and renovation of it is much better than other's I have seen and very smart space wise. It is actually a little more spacious than I expected. There is some highway noise most of the time but we had no problem sleeping and the gorgeous view of the river and the historic Rockville bridge more than made up for it.

  • This house was a great place for six families to enjoy a weekend getaway. There is plenty of space for everyone to sleep, eat, and play. We enjoyed the outdoor fire pit and cooking a large family style meal together. The kids had room to run around outside. The house has historical charm and modern amenities.

    Sara2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • This home has alot of charm and history. The hosts left a personal note in the kitchen welcoming us and home manual. Despite the age of the property , it is obvious that the owners have carefully updated while retaining the historic charm! It isn't easy keeping an old 3 story home warm, but the updated HVAC works wonderfully. Each year I plan a weekend girls trip and there was MORE than ample space/room for our group of 11. The house was supplied with most things already and the grocery store is 5 mins away. While we were there it snowed and Jill reached out to see if the drive needed plowed, or we needed anything at all. It would be a wonderful venue for family reunions, weddings, vacations.... anything really, especially if you want to stay together. On top of all of that - very affordable!! Very happy with the rental and the overall experience! I imagine the propertyis even more amazing in the summertime

  • Beautiful location and great space! So peaceful and calming. Great space for large groups and to feel "away from it all".

  • This house was PERFECT for a weekend get-together with my college friends and their families. The owners were great with communication. The house had everything we needed. We appreciated they provided sheets and towels. The property was private and had plenty of space to explore. Large living room and dining room provided the adults/kids room to socialize. The bedrooms were all large and many had attached bathrooms. We are already hoping to return again in the future.

    Patrick2020-01-12T00:00:00Z
  • This rustic, charming cabin in the woods was where our multi-generations of family gathered for our holiday celebration including New Years Eve. There was something for everyone. The hosts are very responsive to any question or concern you may have. There was plenty of room for all of us (10 adults and 7 children, including an infant) to have our space yet a huge common area for family fun and memory making. A wonderful time was had by all. Thank you Jill and Jonathan for everything!

  • We had a mini cousin reunion with here over a very rainy 3 days. Kids made the most of it and enjoyed exploring the house. They set up massage and meditation classes for us adults :). A beautiful space for whatever your needs are—my 9 year old already asked when we can go back. Thank you!!

  • Amethyst Retreat Center is wonderful and just exactly the right place for the relaxing we wanted to do. The house is spacious and cozy with a farmhouse feel that fits its vast surroundings. I particularly enjoyed the large open living room/yoga space and the top-level scenic room that offers a gorgeous 360 view of the property. As much as I enjoyed the house itself, it was really the grounds that attracted me to the space and I was delighted to find that the photos only scratch the surface of this beautiful landscape. Meadows, hills and forests ideal for hiking and birding are expansive enough to keep nature fans busy throughout their stay. We spotted possums, wild turkeys, a variety of hawks and, of course, countless deer. Experienced birdwatchers could go wild here. I'd love to visit again and recommend it highly to anyone looking for a quiet and relaxing outdoor experience.

  • Amethyst is such a special place! We stayed there for a family vacation with two kids, 9 & 11, and my parents who are elderly. The downstairs bedroom with bath was perfect for my parents and the rest of us found cozy beds upstairs. The hiking trails were just the right amount of adventure and the labyrinth was something we visited again and again at different times of day including at night to watch the stars. There is such an ample supply of food on hand for breakfast - eggs, milk, cheese, cereal, coffee and herbal teas & more. Also all the spices, pots, pans, dishes one could need. It was a joy to cook fresh vegetables from the garden for our meals. We had a meditation lesson for my parents and I spent an entire afternoon curled up with a book in the screened porch. We left rested, inside and out and will definitely be back.

  • The place, the house, the host all very very wonderful. Will visit again. The breakfast items , the vegetable garden and the beautiful meadows added the extra above and beyond experience. We will be back again to visit this place for its hospitality and peace.

    M2017-07-23T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing. We loved it. The house was just perfect, everything we needed was there. We were looking for a quiet place in the nature to rest for a couple of days. What we found was above our expectations. A pity we only had time to stay two nights, we would have stayed longer. MaryKaye and Marlin were great hosts and took well care of us.

    Eino2017-06-29T00:00:00Z
  • We are so in love with the Amethyst Retreat Center, and are already planning a trip to come in warmer weather. The place is light-filled, with so much character. The rooms are lovely and offered comfort to enjoy quiet for time reading, meaningful conversations, and reflecting. We were kept warm from the cold and whipping winds, and yet the views of the surrounding fields and forest tempted us to explore out into the cold. Our reward was a lovely walk along the forest's edge, and yet were grateful to be back in the warmth of this cozy, and yet spacious house. Thank you for welcoming us to your retreat, and for the generous breakfast provisions. We had everything we needed to cook the meals we planned, and never needed (or wanted) to leave the retreat for anything.

This cozy cabin is located on 43 acres of wooded land, surrounded by hundreds of acres of mountain woods. Perfect place for a nature retreat. Hiking trails and small pond are on the property. There is an outdoor deck and a large screened-in pavilion, as well as a picnic grove, fire ring and a gas grill. It is only 3 miles from the small town of Newport and 2 miles from a large grocery store. It is 35 minutes from Harrisburg. The best of both worlds: convenience and seclusion.
In addition to the two bedrooms indoors, there are two day beds in the pavilion that can be used, weather permitting. The lower mattress of the bunk bed is a double and can accommodate 2 adults.
Newport is a small PA river town with a great coffee shop, health food store, healthy cafe, and some interesting stores including the Perry County Council of the Arts store featuring works of local artists. The Juniata River is close by for canoeing, kayaking and fishing. Host can recommend a great fly fishing guide for guaranteed results! Little Buffalo State Park is 10 minutes away with hiking, boating and a wonderful swimming pool.
  • Everything we were looking for! Rest, peace and comfort in the woods. Beautiful property, great cabin and everything we needed for a romantic getaway. Thank you Candie for all the little touches that made our stay welcoming and enjoyable. great privacy. great outdoor experience. Would love to return with the rest of our family one day. • We wanted a peaceful weekend away, and we got one! A comfy couch with a lovely view, a fireplace, a large bathtub, and a well-stocked kitchen was just what we needed. Being able to bring our dog (who loved exploring the property) was an added bonus. We spent the weekend reading, eating, and exploring the nearby state park and property. Would stay again in warmer weather, so we could take advantage of the outdoor pavilion.

  • Candie’s place was simply perfect. Tucked away on 43 acres of land, we truly felt like we had the forest to ourselves. The cabin was quaint and felt homie. We loved the porch looking out into the forest and the pond on the property was beautiful. We’re already planning on returning in the spring to enjoy the warm weather. Pro tip: visit the Farmer’s market/country store in town. Some of the best pies, pretzels, and baked goods I’ve ever had.

    Ben2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • We had the absolute BEST time at Candie's cabin! If you are looking for a serene and secluded getaway - this is IT! There was a grocery store only 2 miles away which is also a huge perk. The kitchen is stocked with all the utensils you need to cook, the living room is so cozy and the bed was super comfortable. My husband, two dogs and I stayed the weekend and truly wish we could have stayed longer - we will be back!

    Emily2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • Candie was a fantastic host. She made the check-in and check-out very easy. The cabin was also provided with clean dishes, towels and bedding. We didn't need to bring anything, but food. Not only was the cabin great, but the property was a dog haven. Yes, we could bring our dog and she absolutely loved running around. She slept the entire day after we got back because she was so worn out. I would definitely go back, but maybe this time in the summer. There was a great little hiking path down to a pond.

    Kelly2020-02-02T00:00:00Z
  • Came here for a weekend winter getaway for my boyfriends birthday. This place was perfect: quiet, secluded (but close enough to a super market and coffee shop!), and had everything we needed. Candie has set the place up so well with not much you could ask for. The kitchen was plenty stocked with the must-haves, the living arrangement was perfect for a couple, and the outdoor spaces were never ending for our high-energy dog. Since we did go during the winter, we didn’t get to take full advantage of the patios, we did love the walking loops conveniently on the grounds and the fire pit. In short, couldn’t have asked for a better quintessential woodland escape!

    Deslie2020-01-20T00:00:00Z
  • Candie's cabin is the coziest, cleanest AirBNB I've ever stayed in! We loved cooking in the (perfectly equipped) kitchen, using the wood stove, and spending time in the gorgeous woods nearby. Fresh flowers were a lovely touch; the cabin itself feels very secluded, but is a short drive to grocery stores and other amenities if you need them. I'm already making plans with friends and family for a second visit!

    Sarah-Neel2020-01-12T00:00:00Z
  • Candie's Place was everything you expected. If you are looking for a cabin to get away, this is the right cabin for you. I love her decor of the house. It reminds me of the series "Stranger Things." Our husky Maya love roaming through the woods freely. There so much exploring to do around the house. you forget about social media. ( Seclusion at its finest) She even has board games to play with. Most importantly she has a beautiful pond you can hike too. Everything about this house was gorgeous.

  • Lovely little house. Our family felt it was a perfectly warm and inviting space. The open concept was great for sharing time together, and we definitely felt like it was a bit of a retreat space.

  • We had a wonderful stay! Quick and clear responses/instructions for check in and such. Great location (neighbors within viewing distance but it still feels very private and secluded). Camp fire was great too. We would definitely stay again!

  • Excellent time. Fit 10 people comfortably. Used the fire pit every night! The creek behind the house is so fun. Even caught a fish. Located 20 min from Harrisburg and about 30 from Hershey.

  • One word sums it up. Wow! The cottage is a perfect getaway. Secluded, cozy, and just a great place to unwind. One of the best places I've ever stayed.

    Daniel2019-05-19T00:00:00Z
  • The hot tub is definitely the selling point of this small yet spacious cottage. It's total seclusion offers visitors full privacy. There is plenty of space for a family, but is actually quite romantic. The "fireplace" inside, the fire pit outside, and the full kitchen give you a home-away-from-home feeling that allows you to enjoy your partner's company in the sanctuary of nature. Henry was more than accommodating and the house was very modern and clean. I would absolutely recommend staying here!

  • Great place for couple

    Billy2019-09-01T00:00:00Z
  • Great location, great amenities, and a great host. Gary was available, but not obtrusive. He told us all about the area historically and at present. The river was beautiful and the kayaking was a blast. Our dog even got in on the act and went swimming voluntarily for the first time! The space is small, but has all you need for a comfortable stay in any weather. The only thing I'd advise would be to bring a sleeping roll for the beds if you don't like a firm sleeping surface. Loved our trip!

    Dustin2019-08-13T00:00:00Z
  • Gary is an exceptional host. He was very responsive and attentive to our needs/questions, and he was very generous with amenities – we were able to use the outdoor grill, relax on the charming deck overlooking the river, and take out the kayaks. The tree-house was cozy, and the view was gorgeous! The location is perfect as well – a nice quaint area that’s close to the Appalachian hiking trail and only a 10-15-minute drive into town.

  • Gary is a wonderful, generous, and communicative host! His cozy little Tree House nestled in the historic Fort Hunter area sits next to a beautiful river. Gary generously offered us the use of his beautiful deck and backyard. We loved taking walks along the river and in the park. The Tree House is beautifully decorated and has all the necessary amenities for a comfortable stay. Thanks for having us and we hope to be back soon.

    Julia2019-06-23T00:00:00Z
  • PLACE IS ABSOLUTELY AMAZING! Better than I expected. Loved sitting by the water drinking my wine!

    Jessie2019-06-16T00:00:00Z
  • The view alone is worth it. The owner was super courteous.

    Geoff2019-05-19T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great stay at the treehouse! The space is really special- beautiful and cozy inside! We loved being so close to the river and it was really convenient for all the things we wanted to do in town! We also loved playing with our dog in the gorgeous park across the street. Great sunsets and views of the river can't be beat!
