We had an amazing time at Sita's garden homestay. The cottages are set in her beautiful garden. They are both clean and rustic! Fell in love with the place. The beach is a mere 3 min walk. Sita is a wonderful amazing and a hands on host. From Check in to tour guide to check out she's always ready to help. Waiting to visit Gokarna just to stay here again. I'd rate it a 10/10!!

Sita was very accomodating. She replied promptly for our last minute booking. The place is in a quiet location and perfect walking distance from the beach, would suggest the place for solo travellers and families as well.

Set in a scenic private farm right behind Kudle beach (4-5 min by walk), Sita's place is a beautiful place to stay. The cleanliness, privacy, promptness is point on; the place looks much better in real (surprisingly!). Sita is a wonderful and kind host. Had a great time running off to the beach for every possible excuse and coming back to the home stay to rest in quiet and tranquility. I highly recommend the place.

The house is surrounded by greenery around and feels quite peaceful. The place is clean and well-maintained. It is not right in front of the beach but you have walk down around 10 mins to reach Kudle beach. Sita is an excellent host and I highly recommend the place. While arriving, I got down at Kudle beach hill top and had to walk a lot; please ask autos to drop you at Shiva Prasad parking area.

As a hindu custom, all auspicious things start with Lord Ganesh (usually) and on a vacation, accommodation is perhaps the most important and foremost thing. So, this abode "Ganesh" was truly an auspicious start for us. Rajeev greeted us joyfully to this apartment and we were indeed mesmerized by the facilities available. I can safely say that not many hotels/resorts can match the facilities available here, or the hospitality extended by Rajeev and his family. Rajeev as mentioned is a gracious and generous host with a keenness for details. He acted as a guide on numerous occasions and his knowledge about Gokarna & surrounding places is very helpful to a generation of internet-savy-smart-phone dependent people. Any more words to appreciate Rajeeev and the apartment would still not do the justice. Rajeev, thank you for the stay and making us feel at home away from home. And be rest assured, I am booking your place whenever I am visiting Gokarna next time. :)

Perfect host! I would say more than a host a friend. A guide and an awesome person. He showed us parts of Gokarna that otherwise we wouldn't have never seen. Apartment is perfectly located 5 min from Om beach. Rajeev stays right below so he's just a phone call away. He helped us with super early morning Check in. Cooked very delicious breakfast everyday. Tea is something you should not miss. I highly recommend this place and Rajeev as a host. Thank you boss. See you in Jan 2016

Very good host and guide.The house is on the top of the hill,cozy,clean,good view and cool. It feels like home. Rajeev provide tasty food and showed us some very good view points.

This was the first time we booked on airbnb, and wow what a start. From start to finish, the entire stay at Vedic Village was like a dream. Rajeev, I must say is a candidate for 'Indian of the Year'. Warm-hearted host, who only cares for your comfort and well being. The property is beautiful and well maintained. The view from any of the large rooms is breathtaking - Arabian sea at its best. We stayed there for three nights and everyday was amazing. Gokarna is a hidden gem and Rajeev makes sure you enjoy the best the place has to offer. Don't forget to taste their mouth watering breakfast. I look forward to our next opportunity of visiting Vedic Village again.

Rajeev was an excellent host all through our trip - right from the advice on the route to take while arriving, to taking the time to make some delicious eats for us as soon as we arrived, and also taking us for a short sightseeing evening to some very special scenic spots! One evening, after our workshop, we arrived back to the homestay past 4 PM. And we hadn't had lunch! Without us even asking, Mr. Rajeev prepared a yummy meal so that we wouldn't go hungry. So very kind of him. He was totally accommodating of our dog as well. He really goes the extra step to think of what his guests might want - from books, to toiletries. The location of the homestay itself is perfect - just a short drive away from 2 beaches and some very nice short trekking spots nearby as well. It is so much more homely than staying at a traditional resort or hotel. I wish we had more days to enjoy and explore Gokarna, but with his hospitality, this destination is truly on the top of our list for the next trip we make!

I felt like, Rajeev's home stay is definitely a place to visit in Gorkarna. The amenities in the home stay ar definitely a worth to mention. His guidance through out the trip helped us a lot. This place is the best that there is!

My stay at Shantidham was amazing. We were picked up from the beach, to go to Shantidham. It was a beautiful trek there alongside the hill and beach. The rooms were very clean, and we were treated well for our time there. They have the cutest dog that accompanies you sometimes while trekking to Namaste. The dining area overviews the beautiful beach, and you can get lost in it for hours. Will definitely come back and stay there when I do, and I would recommend it to anybody looking for a tranquil experience.

This place was absolutely beautiful. The huts are clean, comfortable, with the most stunning view. It's a great location between Om and Kudle beach. The staff are really lovely and helpful, serving good food. Thank you so much, I'll be sure to come back when I'm in Gokarna!

Shantidham is a very special place. A perfect hideaway with amazing views out over a beautiful headland with crashing waves and dolphins passing by when the water is clear. Suresh and his staff are fantastic. From carrying our bags along the coastal path to their hideaway, to patiently bringing us good, honest food in the nicely positioned sea-view terraces or cold beers at sunset, to organising our train travel to our next destination. The main beaches are a short 5 mins cliff top walk away to Om beach and 15 mins in the other direction to Kudle beach and the rooms are fine with decent showers and sea-view terraced seating outside. It is so nice that our planned 2 days turned into 8.

Shantidham, as the name suggests is really calm n quiet. A beautiful property, you will definitely love it if u like a bit of trekking...quietude and like being nestled amidst foliage and sounds of the sea. The staff is very cooperative and on their toes to help you out. Their cafe serves amazingly good food n it was a heavenly experience to enjoy the food in the open n fresh air.

It's the most picturesque place to stay near Om beach. The place outside their food area is amazing at all times of the day. Courteous staff, and good food.

Wonderful location. On a cliff between Om and Kudle. Isolated, and away from crowds. Beautiful view. We were in room 3. It has the best view from the balcony. Food at the restaurant is also good. But do make sure to ask the waiter exactly what the dish is, and whether the quantity is enough for the number of people you are, before he takes the order. We had a small confusion over this as he is not very conversational. Make sure not to carry trolley bags, as you will need to walk up a hill to get here. Better to have back packs. But overall, a wonderful stay. Will recommend.

Shantidam is in a quiet secluded spot up on the cliff, just a few minutes walk from Kudlee beach along a dusty, rocky path. The views from the restaurant seating are lovely; dolphins and birds can be spotted easily. Food and drink is great and the rooms, although quite small and basic are clean and come with a mosquito net cage and private balcony. Don't be surprised to find the occasional gecko or frog in your bathroom. Communication with the hotel is great - they will send directions and a map for you to find them. A recommended stay for peace, quiet and beautiful views.

Shantidham is a very beautiful and awful place I ever seen..the location of the place in gokarna is perfect to see the sunset. Place is superb clean and service is best. What an amazing place. Located between Om beach and Kudle beach makes you get best of both worlds. Calm surroundings, friendly staff and super clean rooms. My current favourite getaway place.

If you're looking for something private and quiet, Shantidham is the perfect place to stay. It has very few rooms, so book in advance and you will not be disappointed. A short walk along the coast from the famous Om Beach, this place is in its own zone. With good food and great staff, we had a very pleasant experience. The cottages are located along the hillside and each of them is big enough for 2, maybe 3 people. They're well maintained and clean. All of them have a balcony with a view that never misses. Satish will be your man-Friday and he'll help you with whatever you need. The cafe has only 4 tables and a few outside, closer to the coast. And, some very good food. There are a few short treks around the property and some fishing opportunities too. But at the end of it, you go there, enjoy the sea and its sights and sounds and probably not leave the property at all while you're there.

Everything was very nicely managed and special thanks to the staff who let us extend our stay for few hours as their was no booking and our bus was in the evening. Also the view is very scenic and calm with one beautiful cliff nearby which looks amazing during a half moon night overlooking the sea

On my 3rd trip to Gokarna, I decided to try the camping experience that was offered by Gokarna adventure. As described, the Main Beach and the resort share a contiguous boundary, its RIGHT ON THE BEACH!! While the camps were not setup when I went(probably because I went post the main tourist season and on a Tuesday no less), that didn't stop Manjunath(owner) from giving me one of the cottages that he has built. You might want to check with him before booking if camping is what you are explicitly looking for. The cottages are cozy and face the sea with a mosquito net and a fully functioning toilet with a hand shower. Water is available round the clock. But the main reason why one should visit this facility as the recreational options that this place has to offer. Manjunath's facility managers Vinod aka Chhabra, Shashi and the gang are a great bunch of guys. They know Gokarna in and out. Since I've already experience most the beaches on my earlier trips here, I wanted to experience the other side of Gokarna. Chhabra was kind enough to arrange a whirlwind trip to the forest areas and was my personal guide to spots that are not on the touristy-trail. These guys are able to offer options of kayaking, day fishing/night fishing, trekking, boat rides and a bunch of other things. Whether you want to just relax by the sea and or have an adventurous time, this is good option. Smart tips: Check out the French restaurant and the surf school that are almost next door.

What makes this place beautiful is the peacefulness you get right away when you hit the venue. It's calm and quiet surroundings by beautiful structures cottages followed by scenic view of beach. If you are expecting comfort like that of typical resort this is not a place for you. It's raw and close to nature and Mr Manjunath has tried his best to make it comfortable zone. Cottages might be the best place to stay as camping in tents makes you feel little uncomfortable due to humidity. No words about the host as he makes you feel comfortable and at your service for any requests you throw in. If he is not around Mr Sashi will be there to take care of all your needs. None the less the food was not upto mark it will be compensated will the scenic beauty and leave you a sense of reminisce after you come back from the place. Ambiance :5/5 Food: 2.5/5 Host : 5/5

I am a solo backpacker who arrived at 4 in the morning. Despite that, Manjunath was incredibly helpful far beyond what I could have hoped or expected. He had sent a trusted auto-rickshaw to pick me up for a reasonable sum, and had my room ready and waiting for me at that unearthly hour! After a snooze, shower and hearty breakfast enjoyed in the sea breeze, the hosts were very helpful about the beaches to explore and the trails to follow for it. As a solo female traveller, they made sure i felt safe and happy through the whole time i was with them. The property is situated at the northern end of Main Beach, which means it is very peaceful and you can truly soak in the sun, sand and sea without being bothered by anyone! This was a perfect time for me to detox, read a book, and take long walks. I'm positively coming back soon and I've already recommended it to certain people whom I know would enjoy the peaceful time for introspection!

Awesome place to hangout and relax

A HIDDEN GEM on Om Beach, away from crowds and bustle. Brilliant place to chill, catch up on reading, have a beer and just enjoy the sounds of the waves. Comfortable cosy and clean rooms. Easy access to Om Beach and an enjoyable 25 minute trek to Kudle Beach. Beautiful view points to catch the sunset at walking distance. We were lucky enough to spot Dolphins and a Sting ray in the sea from the hotel. Staff is extremely courteous and attended to all our requirements. Good place for families and couples. There were two dogs on the property who were ever delighted to see you. Overall a pleasant experience and the best place we could have found around New Year. Great value for money!

From the first step to the resort, the experience was exceptional. The staff was courteous and diligent and guided us to our room. Special thanks to the pet dog here for keeping us company up along the slightly tricky path. The views from the room were amazing as well, I can bet my bottom dollar that this is the best view you will get from any room/shack/hotel in Gokarna. Kudos to Satish, the concierge for attending to our every beck and call no matter the time or how silly the order. The restaurant had a wide variety of cuisines and boy did we sample them all. The shantidam breakfast and seafood pasta are must haves. Overall, there are very few negatives I found with Shantidam and I would whole heartedly recommend it to anyone looking for a wonderful stay in Gokarna :)

We had a great stay here! This is probably the nicest place available directly on the water. This place was very comfortable: fans are good enough to keep you cool, the bathrooms are clean and modern, and the balconies offer a really nice place to relax with an amazing view. The hosts are very helpful and friendly and will give you information you need about getting to and from; they'll even help you book train tickets and taxis as this can be difficult for foreigners.

One of the best places to stay near Gokarna. Nestled on the cliffs next to Om beach with very easy access. Other great beaches very near. Walking to Gokarna takes half an hour and is really beautiful. But there are also rikshas available. Beautiful sunset spot, nice little restaurant.

Let's get straight to the point. Pros: 1. Awesome location. Great view from both cottage and the restaurant. The place makes you feel relaxed. It is near to the famous OM beach but at the same time secluded from the crowd. If available ask for the sea facing cottage when you check-in. 2. Great food. The food is freshly prepared from the scratch. So it takes time but it is totally worth it. Just sit at the restaurant and enjoy the serene view. Food tip: Expect 1/2 hr to receive your order. 3. Cooperative staff. Did not face any communication problem whatsoever. Understands your needs. 4. Internet connection. Though I won't recommend using the internet at this place. Just turn off the irritating technology and enjoy the calm breeze and gushing waves. Cons 1. Cottages are small and the lighting system in the room is low. 2. More lights required on the way from Om beach to the destination. Tip: Have the contact number of the manager in case of emergencies because it gets really dark after 7pm.

My wife and I stayed in Hanchina Mane Homestay for 2 nights in the 1st week of September, 2016. The place was easy to locate as it's listed on (SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN) maps. From the moment we stepped into this home till the time we left the place, it was literally the feeling of a home away from home. The hosts were always welcoming and approachable. The room with an attached bath was clean and spacious. From the terrace, one can enjoy a beautiful view of the Western Ghats. Moreover the home is surrounded by a variety of trees and green cover making it a serene neighbourhood with absolute peace and quiet. Being located a few kilometres away from the main hub, the place is ideal for a relaxing vacation while the main beaches are only a short drive away. Like they say, the best is always saved for the last. The most remarkable part of the hospitality here was the extraordinarily delicious and satisfying food offered. We were served yummy coastal cuisine and thoroughly enjoyed the handsome spread of local seafood among other things. When I visit Gokarna with my family again, I know where to stay.

We had a wonderful stay at the Hanchina Mane. Our family of four travelled to Gokarna in November 2015 and stayed with Rajeev And Jaya for three nights. The home stay turned out exactly as described, a very clean, simple, quiet and peaceful place, away from the bustle of the beaches and the town. Rajeev was a very sensitive and responsive host and was very helpful in every way. Jaya personally served us her delicious spread of breakfast and meals, specially the excellent local seafood specialities! We also stayed at their beach house for one night, which was 4 km from Gokarna beach. It was an unbelievably pristine beach, with hardly anyone around. The hosts made us feel as if we were part of their family, their genuine warmth and hospitality made our stay very special! They also run an NGO called the Ashraya Foundation, helping young girl students from remote areas get a decent education, personally overseeing their needs. We were touched by their altruistic spirit and inspired by their wonderful work for the people and environment of the region.

A very beautiful place right in front of the sea... Stay wise it's at the best location. However, food wise only breakfast is good. For, Lunch and Dinner they should improve a lot for Indian Cuisine. Overall, Very quiet , peaceful, serene place... Loved the sound of waves and view from the room. Right near to om beach and kudle beach is only a short trek from this place. One thing for sure, if I again come to Gokarnaa, I will definitely stay at Shanti dham.

One of my best experiences during 10x plus Indian travels. Thanks to Suresh and friendly team. He even called in the middle of night to solve a taxi problem in Goa. Location is superb, just over the searocks overlooking a big stretch of the sea, Tranquil and best, if you really want relax and come down. Beaches are very close by. Help Suresh to maintain this little gem and respect the place and it's unique atmosphere, don't party here.

One of the best place to stay in Gokarna. It is maintained by two brothers who are really helpful and friendly. The view is scenic and you can spend your whole stay at gokarna in hotel itself. Don't expect a room service on phone etc. The food is good enough and it is freshly prepared every time you make an order. In all you can't expect better view rooms and people at this price.

Overall a nice sea facing room, felt a little costly as the room was a little small for 3 ppl, apart from that helpful staff nice ppl.

The pictures on the website and what the cottages looked like were a good representation of what you get. This is a nice place to stay if you looking for a very clean and basic place to stay that is close to Om Beach, serves good food and is quiet and relaxing. The rooms sit on a hillside looking over the water and have a nice breeze from the ocean. Rooms and bathrooms are basic but very clean and well put together. Ceiling fans work wonderfully without any noise or fear that they are going to fall on your head. Bathroom has a good shower and very clean as well. I loved that the owners didn't just cut down all the trees and nature around the cottages but kept them where they are which is rare in India and there were great plants and birds and butterflies- another rarity in India. The owner understands that people want to stay in a nice cottage with trees, plants and flowers.
