Places to stay in Gilsland
This delightful and cosy, single-storey, detached holiday cottage has been furnished to a high standard and has pleasant views across open countryside. It sits on the edge of the village, on the line of Hadrian’s Wall.
The sitting room has views across the countryside and the crags of the '9 nicks of Thirlwall along which Hadrian's Wall runs. There is a wood burning stove in this room and night storage heaters in all rooms. It has a separate kitchen / dining room ... Electric hob and oven, microwave, fridge, washing machine. There is a double bed room and a single bedroom. Bathroom with electric shower over bath. A small outdoor shed stores portable Bbq and fuel (included) for the wood burner.
It is 4 miles to the shops and facilities of Haltwhistle and 8 miles to Brampton. The historic city of Carlisle and town of Hexham are each about 17 miles.
  • Highly recommended, as good as it gets.

  • The cottage was as advertised. It was spacious and clean, perfect for the two of us and could have accommodated more with the second bedroom. The views and location were fab, especially if you’re looking to go on long walks.

  • David’s place is warm and comfortable. It is a great space for exploring Hadrian’s Wall!

    Deb2020-01-08T00:00:00Z
  • Fab cosy cottage with a lovely wood burner and everything you need for a few days away including kitchen utensils etc, fuel for log burner, extra heater, torch and hi-viz jackets (for the walk to the pub in the dark, nice food and not too expensive) and book with some great walks in. We had a lovely New Year here and throughly enjoyed our stay at the cottage. Its location is fabulous, little light pollution so the sky at night is amazing and theres lots of choice for great walks around the area. We did popping stones and Houseasteads to Steel Crags and Vindolanda. We definitely recommend this cottage for a break away in this beautiful part of the country.

  • Wonderful little cottage in the secluded village of Gilsland. It was easy to find and David and Hillary were wonderful hosts. We spent a quiet little Christmas up here after getting married in July and had a fab time. Thank you!

  • Ideally situated and furnished, David's cottage will satisfy any traveller. One last improvement, David should do something to prevent the rain from falling when guests are willing to stay in Gilsland !

    Jean Philippe2019-11-24T00:00:00Z
  • This is a comfortable cottage, very clean and well maintained. David is very helpful and quick to communicate. A good place to stay to visit the Roman Wall with walks right from the door. Gilsland is a nice village with a really friendly pub just a minute or two away serving excellent food and beer. (good range of gins and whisky too) It also has an excellent tearoom.

    David2019-11-10T00:00:00Z
  • A very comfortable, well equipped and clean space. This is a fairly easy walking distance to the likes of Birdoswald Roman Fort on Hadrian's Wall and a great location if you're wanting to walk a little further too. The property is not far from the main A69 which makes it very easy to get to places like Hexham, Newcastle and Carlisle. I felt safe and welcomed in the property. Added touches such as high-viz jackets, magazines and a detailed description of the local area all made for an enjoyable stay.

  • Lovely cottage - comfortable, cosy and sparkling clean. Perfect location for Hadrian's wall and lots of walking tips in the folder in the house.

    Sheena2019-12-01T00:00:00Z
  • We absolutely loved our weekend here at Middlemarch cottage. We took our dog Molly and she felt at home too. The cottage is like a Tardis with a real homely feel. The skies are so dark so great if you like star gazing. We ate at the cottage first night then ate at the pub in the village which we thoroughly enjoyed. We actually didn’t want to come home and we will come back.

  • Lynne is the perfect host and her cottage was absolutely perfect. Nicely appointed, close to good pubs/tearoom, and a very short walk to Hadrian's Wall path. We had a great time and cannot recommend Lynne's place enough!

Jackie was such a lovely host, we arrived just after 5pm, she showed us around, explained a few bits and pieces to us and was able to direct us to the local pub for a meal. She made us an absolutely beautiful breakfast in the morning and was so accommodating and friendly to us all (baby and dog included 😊). We will definitely be going back when we’re in the area next, thank you so much Jackie x

It will be an oasis of bliss after your hard work. I loved the room, the block out blinds, welcome and breakfast. Jackie is a really great host. It was a really excellent rest in a fabulous room. • Robert's place was comfortable and warm. Robert's neighbour kindly greeted us when we arrived and gave us some cafe recommendations for breakfast. Handy to visit some of the attractions at Hadrian's Wall.

    Matt2019-11-19T00:00:00Z
  • Roberts place is a comfy clean tasteful retreat on the outskirts of a small town with all the amenities you need from a town. Streams, gorges on your doorstep and Hadrians Wall close by. Ideal for an escape from the bustle of the city. Thoroughly recommend the experience

  • This is a cool little flat that is bigger than it looks from the photos. It is just a short walk from the centre of the quaint village of Haltwhistle. It has a well equipped kitchen and the clothes washer and dryer are a bonus. It is just a few kilometres to walk to Hadrian's Wall, so great for walkers. Also, 5 pubs nearby. Nice.

    Michael2019-09-08T00:00:00Z
  • Very nice place. Really stylish! Perfect for a couples weekend away! 10/10

    Elliot2019-09-07T00:00:00Z
  • The apartment met our needs and expectations very well.  The location of the apartment was great for a very short walk to Haltwhistle stores of all kinds, pubs, restaurants, and sandwich/coffee shops.  The refrigerator, range, microwave, dishes/cups gave us the option of a snack of our food purchases, The supplies for some morning coffee or tea was really nice.  There were little extras like slippers that were unexpected and appreciated. Our privacy was respected. The reference maps of the area available in the apartment contributed to our decisions made for our activities and hikes.  We had previously planned for and chose the short drives to Hadrian's Wall sites and museums. We did a couple short hikes along "the wall"; and after visiting the Roman Vindolanda Fort & Museum and the Roman Military Museum we appreciate the significance of this area even more.

The house was very clean and it was in a beautiful and peaceful area. There is no WiFi but me and my partner were able to get reception from some parts of the house to contact people for work. We would definitely stay here again and really recommend it!

  • My girlfriend and I enjoyed a relaxing holiday whilst staying at Alison and James’s cottage. The property was easy to find and we received a warm welcome upon arrival. The cottage was stylishly furnished, cosy and was set in peaceful surroundings. Alison and James respected our privacy, but were on hand if we needed them for anything! There was plenty to do in the local area as the cottage is situated very close to Hadrian‘s Wall. We enjoyed learning about the impact that the Romans had over the local area by visiting a Roman army museum, which was interactive and modern. This was located just across the road from the cottage! We also visited Vindolanda, a Roman fort which is still being excavated by archaeologists! We would recommend this cottage to anyone who is looking to enjoy the tranquility of the countryside and discover more about the Roman settlement of Britain!

  • Alison and James's place is super stylish and can't be beaten for location. It is approximately 2 minutes walk from Hadrian's Wall and is opposite the Roman museum. Beds are comfy and the shower is great. We had a lovely mini break and will recommend to our friends and family!

  • Stayed at the cottage for a weekend for my boyfriends birthday, I asked if some little touches could be added, this was no problem, a banner had been put up, a cake was there and beer too, hosting was amazing, the cottage is beautiful, so clean and tidy. There was a little hamper when we arrived which was a lovely touch. Alison and James recommended a few places to go and a waterfall to go see, which was amazing as we went. Stay was perfect.

  • Really enjoyed our long weekend at the cottage. It was in a perfect location to see the local sites around Hadrian's Wall and a short walk away from the local pub which did good food. The cottage was well furnished with everything we needed and we were welcomed with a lovely hamper on arrival which was a nice touch. Alison and James were helpful and readily available throughout our stay. Would thoroughly recommend it to anyone looking for a long weekend in Northumberland.

  • Our family has wanted to visit Hadrian’s Wall for many years but never imagined that we would do it while staying in such a beautiful home in such a spectacular setting. We loved our morning and evening walks. We loved the big farm table in the well-equipped kitchen for family meals, and the beautiful garden for cocktails and morning coffee. We also had a delicious meal one evening at nearby Samson Inn. Our days were spent visiting Roman forts Birdoswald and Housesteads, and walking the wall. We hope someday to return to this extraordinary and fascinating place.

  • My family and I had a lovely time for my 30th birthday. The cottage is stunning and has everything you could possibly need. We only had a few nights there but it quickly felt like home. Many happy memories.

  • We had an absolutely fabulous time at Chris and Paul’s property. The location is truly amazing for a lovely relaxing time and the countryside is spectacular. We walked in the door & the first thing my husband said was ‘I could live here’. We were greeted with lovely fresh tulips and a home baked cake. The property was very comfortable and well equipped. We will definitely be back and will highly recommend this property.

This gorgeous self-contained shepherds hut, set in the idyllic Cumbrian countryside was built from scratch by husband and wife hosts, Michael and Fiona. Situated on the banks of the River Irthing, and a short walk from Lanercost, this is the perfect stop for walkers exploring Hadrian's Wall Country. Artists and honeymooners will also enjoy the peaceful tranquility with the intentional lack of wifi allowing anyone staying here an opportunity to really switch off.
This fully equipped cosy retreat in the Cumbrian countryside, is set in its own private paddock over-looking the river. You have the hut, an outside seating area with BBQ, plus the paddock lawn, all to yourselves. If you want to put up a tent for a few extra people, then that can be arranged for a small extra fee. The hut includes a kitchen with a small oven with 2 hobs, a fridge, kettle, plus all crockery, tea towels etc. Tea, coffee and milk are also provided. So you don't have to think about grocery shopping, you can pre-order a food basket with all the necessary basics. Not in the mood to cook? How about a Full English Breakfast or a 2-3 course evening meal, served in the main Farmhouse. If you prefer to eat in the hut there is a menu of delicious homemade "ready meals", for you to simply pop in the oven and drinks can also be provided. Please give us a day or more's notice for any food requests. Well behaved dogs are welcome to stay and can enjoy a river swim before drying off by the "fat bellied wood burning stove". Humans might prefer a hot shower which is no problem as the hut is fully serviced with mains water and electricity. There is also an electric heater for those cooler nights! A number of books, board games and a small TV with DVD are on hand for your entertainment.
This is a very quiet area but near to Brampton/ Carlisle/Gretna Green/Lakes/and the Borders not far off the M6 so very accessible. The scenery around here is beautiful, ideal for walking all year round and unbelievably we get very little snow.
  • Great place to stay! Amazing hospitality and friendly owners! We had an amazing time despite the weather forecast. The dogs loved the private paddock to run around in. Highly recommend!

  • I booked this for my parents who were desperate to visit the area and walk Hadrians wall. They had the most fantastic time. The area is stunning and the location of the hut was fantastic! The hut was perfect for a walking weekend- cosy and warm and just the right size for two people- and spotlessly clean! Fiona was a brilliant host- really helpful when booking and communicated well. We will definitely be going back!

    Lauren2019-12-09T00:00:00Z
  • First of all this over night stay was so much better than I thought it would be. The place and scenery is picture perfect & I have never seen so many stars. We're a youngish couple and wanted to be away from everything and enjoy quality time together with our two (5 year old) dogs. The hut is very cosy, warm (once you get the fire going) and is well equipped. We only stayed the night but when we come again we will certainly be staying for two as we felt the time went by too quickly. Plenty of space to tire the dogs out and as it is in the middle of practically no where there is no fear of them going too far. Fiona was such a friendly, helpful, polite and thoughtful host. Jack the Labrador was gorgeous too, if only we all had more time to play! Thank you so much for allowing us to stay in the night in your winter wonderland :) Love Steph, Karl, Cookie & Coco xxx

We live in a 18th Century farmstead on the Northumberland Cumbria border, an area steeped in history. With Hadrian's Wall national trail path running through our property we are ideally located for walkers walking the trail or people who would like to take a walk from the door. We have 2 bedrooms, a double and a twin room available for people to stay.
The twin room has a sloping ceiling and perhaps is not suitable for everyone. The room contains 2 single beds, 2 bedside tables and hooks to hang clothes. There is an electric radiator in the bedroom and the window is double glazed with a view over the country side. We offer tea and coffee making facilities in the room. This room is ideal for walkers requiring one night stays.
We live in a stunning location which is easily accessible by foot and car. There are numerous walks from our doorstep and some great places to visit. Roman Army Museum, Birdoswald, Thirlwall Castle, are within walking distance. We have various places to eat within walking distance. In Gilsland a 15 minute walk there is The Samson Inn offering hot food and a great tea shop House of Meg. Greenhead is a 20 minute walk and the Greenhead Hotel and Greenhead Cafe both offer a range of hot food and light bites.
  • Amanda is great! Very friendly and couldn't do enough to help my mum and I. A beautiful location and house and I would highly recommend staying here. We were lucky enough to get taste of some homemade cinnamon pastries which were amazing. Amanda even went as far as to give use head torches and blankets so we could spot stars! Thank you so much! X

The room is exactly as shown on the pics, and the view out of the window is great ! We had a nice evening in the pub (10 minutes away) and a silent night. Breakfast was great ! We both could recommend it ! I'd definitely stay there again!

Our lovely Shepherds Huts are set in the garden of our home, on the edge of the market town of Haltwhistle, Northumberland. We are an ideal base for a couple looking for a romantic retreat, or friends looking to explore this beautiful historic area. The interior consists of a triple bunkbed, fully equipped kitchenette, TV, comfy seating and a woodburner. Another room in the hut has a toilet and shower. Dine alfresco on decking outside, or cosy up to the stove after a day of exploring. Joy!
Sitting out on your own decking area and star gazing on a cloudless night is a must during your stay. We are blessed being in an area with no light pollution. To make this a more enjoyable experience, you can sit around a roaring outdoor fire pit, with a glass of your favourite, and just dream as you look skyward.

  • Great little break, lovely and cosy with log fire, nice and quiet, small but very quirky and unique, great to try something different! Our little dog molly loved it too, it poured with rain all night but we snuggled up with the fire on and a few gins, very cozy and a great end to a busy week and some quality time with my partner, would highly recommend it and Stella is very helpful! Lots of attention to detail and little touches, We will be back when it’s not raining to sit outside and try the fire pit, lovely private location too, thank you for a lovely cosy break from home :) Nicola

  • Could not fault anything about our stay! The log burner quickly warms the hut up, so no issues when staying in the winter. Water did freeze over in the morning, but didn't impact our stay, we just felt bad we had to leave our dishes. Did not expect some chocolates and a bottle of wine when arriving, lovely touch. Great night away, can't wait to book to stay again!

  • Adorable little hut, kept nice and cosy with the little wood burning stove. Perfectly located close to town where there are a few shops and pubs. Lovely touch of lychee wine left by owner, which was delicious! Would be lovely in summer as well as there is a small seating area outside with a little wood burner. Definitely recommended.

Newly refurbished luxury bedroom with ensuite bathroom, in our cosy Cumbrian farm house. Surrounded by countryside, we have plenty of parking and we're happy for you to bring your dog, although we kindly ask that they wipe their feet before coming inside. Extra room, cot, breakfast and evening meals all available - please just send me a message for more details and pricing.
We live in a Bastle House (fortified farmhouse where animals were kept downstairs to keep the family upstairs warm and safe) which we can trace back to at least 1672. Our walls are 4 feet thick so in the summer it is cool but in the winter it is really cosy! The room has a very large and comfortable double bed (can be changed to twin if requested), small dresser with draws, tea and coffee facilities, TV with DVD, and countryside views. Ensuite bathroom has a bath with shower, plus loo and wash basin. Toiletries are provided, including bubble bath and candle for a relaxing soak. We can provide a cot and the next door bedroom is also available with prior notice (guests share bathroom) - please just ask me about prices. We can provide you with breakfast, including a traditional Cumbrian Breakfast, and evenings meals. Please just ask me for menus options in advance of your stay (I need 36 hours notice please). We are well located for walkers doing the Hadrian's Wall route (600 meters downhill from us) guests at weddings at Lanercost Priory or just visitors to this beautiful area of Carlisle, the Borders and the North Lakes -- lots of history and impressive scenery to enjoy.
This is a very peaceful place with beautiful scenery. You can really "get away from it all" and yet never be far away from "life" if you want it! In Brampton and the surrounding area you have several pubs, antique centres and in Carlisle there is great shopping, cinema, a castle and cathedral, 10 pin bowling and lots of history to investigate. Walking in the area is very popular and we have an ordinance survey map to plot local walks. Hadrian's Wall and all the history of the Roman occupation is well represented with museums, excavations and sites of camps, within 1 mile. Well worth a visit even if you are not a historian! Fishing is available at nearby trout farm or if you have your own rod, you can apply online for a license to fish the river Irthing that flows around the boarder of our farm. Kielder reservoir and forest is a one hour drive away; fantastic for walking, red squirrel spotting, outdoor activity and one of the best places in the country for stargazing - there is even an observatory. The North lakes are 1 hour away and the majestic coastline of Dumfries and Galloway are always a super day out.
  • Fiona is the loviest host. Her Airbnb is a real retreat for all hikers. She’s very caring and sociable and her food is excellent! She even let me take her dogs out for a short walk. We had a wonderful time. Thanks!

  • A fantastic old farm house in a secluded and beautiful location; the room is very warm and comfortable encouraging a long and deep sleep with a couple of nice surprising features. Fiona & Mike are wonderfully hospitable, between the laundry when I turned up drenched and covered from head to toe in mud, to the lift up to the bus stop when I was hurting in the morning. Thoroughly recommended!!

  • Huge thanks to Fiona and Mike for a lovely stay. We stopped for one night with our dog and they were very helpful and accommodating. The room in their traditional fortified farmhouse is full of character and charm. The bed is huge and very comfortable. The room is very nicely decorated keeping traditional touches such as the big beam and peephole windows. Everything we needed was there including robes and slippers. The individual water carafes by the bed were a really nice touch. I recommend breakfast, plenty of food and the homemade marmalade was yummy.

  • I could’nt recommend this little gem enough! Perfect place to stay if you’re visiting Hadrians wall and/or Kielder. Hosts are attentive and quick to respond! The small touches such as the shower gels and a bottle of Rose were unexpected and incredibly thoughtful! The log burner is perfect to heat the whole place and the bed was really comfy. 11/10!

  • A beautifully decorated hut with everything we needed! Lovely warm fire too. We enjoyed a few walks. Thanks Stella, a great host!

  • The most wonderful getaway! I thought we might be chilly, but we were toasty warm all weekend, with a wood stove and additional plug in heater which Stella left on for when we arrived. The hut is like being in a hobbit house from Lord of the Rings - so cosy and thoughtfully decorated. Stella provided everything we needed to cook dinner and breakfast and relax, right down to a bottle of wine and chocs. We had a peaceful and extremely cosy time. Delightful in every way.

    Miranda2019-11-24T00:00:00Z
  • We really enjoyed our stay! The hut was so cosy and everything felt so well designed. We went on two walks along Hadrian's wall during our stay which was very easy to get to from the Shepherd's huts.

    Helen2019-11-17T00:00:00Z
  • Had a lovely time at Stella’s. Lobe the log fire. Made it such a toasty evening. Our dog Finn was loving his life being in the forests. We will definitely be back.

  • Thank you Stella for such a super stay! We loved the wood burner, it really made the hut so cosy and warm, and the wine was such a lovely touch. We hired two bikes and went for a great ride up to Hadrian’s wall. We had such a lovely, relaxing break and we would definitely visit again!

  • I always appreciate quick and easy communication and check-in, which Val provides. The place was adorable- beautiful homey touches throughout: warm, cozy, inviting. The kitchen was well stocked for cooking, and coffee and tea were available. The living room with fireplace and firewood provided were amazing: comfy sofa and chairs, and beautiful decorative lighting. The bedroom was quaint and bed inviting. We could have easily spent a week here! Easy walk to the train (about 5 min), local grocery 3 min walk, and authentic pubs and restaurants within a short walk. Loved it all and hope to be back!

  • 5 stars all the way! This is such a lovely, cosy cottage, perfectly situated off the main street and a great base for exploring Hadrian’s Wall. There are lots of thoughtful touches throughout and Val even put cuddly toys on the kids’ beds, which they loved! Val is a great host; we arrived to twinkly fairy lights and she even messaged to apologise for the weather! I’d recommend this cottage to anyone 😊

  • Val is a super host and answered some queries very promptly. Eden cottage is fantastically placed for exploring Hadrian's wall, the Roman Museum and Vindolanda. There are some great eating places a stone's throw from the cottage and it was so relaxing to sit in the conservatory together and relax with a glass of wine later in the evenings.

  • Stella’s place was just what we needed: a central location that was great to access the local walks to Hadrians wall, the apartment was spacious and well presented, everything that we needed was available including towels and bathroom basics, kitchen equipment, tea and coffee making basics, the place was scrupulously clean and had a warm and homely feel. There were clear directions for everything that we needed and lots of information for walking and visiting places of local interest. Stella was quick to respond to any questions that we asked. I’d certainly recommend this place to others.

  • Spacious apartment right in the centre of the village. Spotlessly clean and brilliant communication from Stella.

    Simon2019-05-27T00:00:00Z
  • The living area is roomy, the bed comfortable and the shower is good. Some great extras such as fans in living room and bedroom and there was a generous supply of towels. These were winners for us and made for a comfortable stay. No problems with parking and clear directions also appreciated. Kitchen is small but we cooked most evenings and managed fine. Thank you Stella and Ian.

  • Fabulous place! Decor beautiful, real fires , amazing big sofa, great kitchen space! The garden is really private and quirky. We used the private pool (its 2 miles up the road) and well worth it- great facilities there. Recommend highly!

  • Geraldine's house is just gorgeous, and the perfect place from which to explore Hadrians Wall (which is a few minute drive away) and surrounds. Greenhead is a very small village with a lovely pub a few minutes walk away. The house is totally charming, beautifully styled and has everything you need. We felt at home immediately and would have loved to stay longer. Geraldine is a thoughtful host and excellent at communication. We'd definitely stay again. Highly recommended.

  • I can’t recommend Geraldine enough as a host. I had issues with my payments, which Geraldine helped resolved. The communication leading up to our arrival was superb. The house itself was fantastic, a great space for 2 families in a great location. It was everything we needed. Finally I left behind my earrings which hold sentimental value to me. Geraldine made sure they were returned to me ASAP with the help of the house cleaner, who was also wonderful. An amazing stay, thank you.

  • This was a fantastic home in a great location. A perfect choice for us and so important for us as we chose this home based on previous guest reviews. Having travelled 12,000 miles to get here, we wanted for nothing. Little touches like decorated trees and lights made for a perfect home to celebrate the festive season. Toasty warm and well equipped with comfy beds. Highly recommended.

A converted farm byre with 5 en-suite bedrooms (all either doubles or twins) a dining room / lounge and a kitchen – the milking parlour, cart house, grain store and pig holes are now guest rooms! Of course, they are done to a very high standard and provide an ideal balance of comfort and facilities. They are also full of character with exposed wooden beams, local slate flooring and antique furniture. The rooms are energy efficient, using underfloor heating and insulated with sheep’s wool.
Willowford Farm is a 100 acre hill farm in the very far north-east corner of Cumbria, just a few hundred metres from the Northumberland border. The farm buildings sit above the River Irthing and enjoy splendid views down the valley as it meanders westwards towards the Eden and ultimately the Solway Firth. We are also fortunate to have one of the best remaining stretches of Hadrian’s Wall running right through the farm.
Willowford is a great base for a holiday in this fascinating and beautiful area. There are fantastic walks and bike rides starting from our doorstep that take in hugely contrasting landscapes – from vast, open moorland dotted with crags and loughs, to steep, wooded river valleys and spectacular waterfalls. Onto this canvas is painted 2000 years of history – castles, viaducts, mines, the Border Reivers, and of course, the Romans. And then there’s the wildlife…

Great space, fantastic view, kitted-out kitchen, and everything so clean. As commented by others, Elizabeth’s scones are the best welcome to this lovely house. Very highly recommended.

This is a spacious double room with a great view overlooking the country side. The room contains a double bed, wardrobe, drawers and a mirror. There is an electric radiator in the room and the window is double glazed. We offer tea and coffee making facilities in the room.
  • Staying at Amanda and Kit's was a wonderful part of my hike on Hadrian's Wall. They are directly on the Path, and in an incredible location. The views from my window (double room) were lovely, I even took pictures :) The bed in the double room is to die for, so comfortable, made me completely forget about the pain from walking so many miles. The pub is about 10 minutes away walking through the fields (thanks for lending us a headtorch, Amanda!), and has great food. Just make sure you know your way back to the house if you are walking back in the dark (basically, following Hadrian's Wall Path back from the pub). The english breakfast provided was delicious, a great way to start our day of walking through lovely Northumberland. I would recommend staying at Amanda and Kit's place without hesitation to all, it truly was one of the best airbnb's I've been to !

    Melissa2018-11-02T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed here for only one night, but it's a very comfortable space in a cozy home. I really like how the hosts have renovated this old house. Breakfast was tasty and filling, and we enjoyed talking with Amanda & Kit - they're very interesting people. Got a great recommendation to see Walltown crag before we left the area - well worthwhile!

    Sandy2018-10-26T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed one night at Amanda's place when we were walking the Hadrian's Wall Path. It was the perfect place to have a rest! We had a very cozy room with the most comfortable bed and a very clean shared bathroom. In the morning, Amanda and her husband prepared a fantastic English breakfast (a vegetarian version, too). When arriving by foot as we did, the house is kind of in the middle of nowhere (which we didn't mind at all, since we were hiking) and there aren't really any options to buy food (except a pub nearby, 10-15 minutes by foot), so you should be prepared to bring some snacks with you unless you want to go and eat in the pub (which we were told is actually quite good). We totally recommend staying at Amanda's place when walking the Hardian's Wall Path or discovering the region!

    Madlen2018-09-28T00:00:00Z
