The Hangar is a private self contained space built onto our house, so-called because although it is modern, the houses in the area are built on what used to be a World War Two aerodrome where Spitfires would take off to fly across the English Channel. The Battle of Britain Museum is very close by and well worth a visit. The space has a double bedroom and small lounge area with a spare double sofa bed if needed. The new bathroom has a very relaxing power shower. Private patio area is included.
The living area has a double sofa bed which is suitable for one adult or two children. If you need to add more guests, please just email us. There area two patio/garden areas you can use. One is private to you and the other one is used occasionally by the family. There is a parking space reserved for the Hangar and is off road on our large drive. Breakfast is provided and will be a continental type. Tea and coffee making facilities are included and the room also has a fridge, toaster and microwave oven as well as plates and cutlery, although there is no kitchen as such but ideal for snacks etc.
The Hangar is located in Hawkinge which is a designated area of outstanding natural beauty. There are lots of stunning walks and cycle rides on the door step. The coast with glorious beaches are minutes away in the car. There are several supermarkets nearby including a local Lidl’s only 10 minutes walk away. There are three local pubs within walking distance.
  • Really good and clean little space.

  • My husband and I went to Dover for the day to take advantage of our English Heritage membership. The Hanger was a perfect place to stay after a long day of driving and exploring. It is sparkling clean, and has everything you need.

  • This is very nice, clean and stylish flat with the amazing owner. My boyfriend had a birthday and Steve decorated the flat with balloons and happy birthday banner! The flat is small but very comfortable and warm. A very nice breakfast was provided. Highly recommended!

  • We had an absolutely brilliant stay at this air BnB!! It was immaculately clean (and it smelt so nice!), everything felt brand new, the shower was amazing and check in so simple. Booked this stay to take the ferry from Dover the next day and it was perfectly positioned. Lots of places to eat and pick up things you've left behind on your travels. Please do not hesitate to book. You won't be disappointed.

  • Charlotte’s place is fab. It’s really spacious, and I slept so well. It’s in an area right beside the coast so I could walk to Sandgate for training in the mornings, great to have my own cooking facilities too. There are lots of interesting looking little independent shops nearby and there are grocery stores in walking distance. Really great spot.

  • Charlotte's studio is a fantastic place to stay right in the centre of artistic Folkestone. Comfy and great value for money. She was fast to respond to requests and ready to help when necessary. Felt like we were part of the artistic community.

  • Charlotte is a lovely and hospitable host. She was super helpful and always available to answer questions and make food suggestions. A great bookshelf that kept us entertained while it rained, and comfortable beds. The space has all we needed. It's located in the heart of the Creative quarter and a few moments walk from the Harbour. There are lots of food options on the street, with a Lidl a 5 minute walk away. There is a cool vintage shop at the bottom of the road too that is manned by very friendly staff. I highly recommend Charlotte's home. We had a great time.

My place is close to great views, the beach, town centre, the train station, pubs and restaurants, supermarkets, everything you need.. You’ll love my place because of the location, the outdoors space close by and the convenience..
We also offer soft tissue massage or relaxation massage on-site. You can also book a yoga and massage weekend. Contact me for prices.
We live in a nice area of Folkestone very close to the sea and all it's amenities. Folkestone is a friendly seaside town with a nice relaxed pace of life. There is plenty of beach space for everyone. Not overcrowded like some other English seaside towns. It is a great town for creative types as it has a Creative Quarter and there are lots of little curiosities around. It also has easy access to Dover with sights like Dover Castle or Ashford with it's shopping outlet. All in all a great little town.

Temperature in the flat is regulated by an app so you can choose your favorite. My place is very clean, tidy, bright and welcoming.
2 minutes walk to the seaside, 5 minutes walk to the town centre with many little coffee shops. Food shop less than a minute walk. Free street parking.

A little cottage, that's very deceiving , it's much bigger than it looks it's also a little quirky which is my style and suits the property that's nearly 200 years old. I will consider a dog staying but need to discuss this first before booking due to my male dog being intact so only castrated males and spayed females. Unfortunately due to a guest I can’t have instant booking on , sorry for any inconvenience
Close to Dover , channel tunnel, fast train link 52mins to London and 5mins for sea.
Marks and Spencer's garage, best fish and chip shop in town . Five mins to tunnel

  • Julie's place is just so convenient, straight off the M20 and a great stopover for us on our way to Dover the next day for the ferry. Julie was a lovely host, helped us find a car parking space, and left us a lovely breakfast the next morning. The room was fine, comfy bed, no traffic noise to speak of due to double glazing. And great value too, so would stay here again without hesitation.

Cereal/croissants are included, as well as milk, biscuits, tea and coffee. Spacious bathroom with great shower (shampoo and body wash available). Super cosy living room with plenty of entertainment - had we been there more than a night we would definitely have enjoyed the books/DVDs/iPod & speaker/puzzles etc! Bedroom also spacious and bed very comfortable.

Cosy, pet-friendly annex on our secluded free-hold in the beautiful countryside of Kent, located just 10 minutes from the Channel Tunnel and 20 minutes from Dover Ferry Port. Wake up to the sound of Bertie the rooster announcing a new day! Relax in the hammock watching Dudley the donkey or enjoy a brisk country walk along the many public footpaths in our area - perfect for dog walkers. If you fancy a day trip, you can be in London within an hour or Canterbury in 20 minutes.
You'll be staying in our newly established annex, furnished with all you need for a comfortable and enjoyable stay including washing machine and drying racks, iron and ironing board and full kitchen facilities including fridge with freezer compartment, halogen hob, oven, dishwasher, toaster, kettle and, of course, tea and coffee making facilities. The sofa folds into a double bed so if you do bring a child, a friend, a parent he/she would be able to sleep in the living room. We don't think the annex is suitable for 4 adults. There is secure private parking on the property. Tepid-water out door dog shower by the main gate. If you do find that there is anything you think would improve the comfort of your stay please let us know and we'll see what we can do.
We love the peace and quiet. Plenty of good walks close by. Deceptively easy access to London as well as the continent so ideal not only for country lovers but also for business travellers looking for a quiet home away from home.
  • We had a lovely stay, the accommodation was very clean & had nice little touches which made it very homely. It slept 3 adults & 1 dog very comfortably. We heard the rooster but it wasn’t loud enough to keep us awake. Overall, a really lovely stay & great hosts - would highly recommend!

  • The perfect spot for a pre-Eurotunnel stopover - but so much more! The area is stunning, there’s space to walk the dog from the front door, and it’s a properly secluded little spot. Lovely place to stay, equipped with everything you could possibly need!

  • The Peacock Mews annex was a perfect place to stay for one night with our two dogs. The large garden is secure and dog proof. The annex was very well equipped. We liked all the helpful reading material such as maps and dog walk information. We had read reviews about the cockerel’s dawn alarm, but it didn’t bother us at all. The owners are lovely and very friendly and helpful. They suggested Dymchurch sandy beach (20/25 minute drive away) for a dog walk and wow it was stunning! The dogs had a fantastic time.

    Wendy2020-02-02T00:00:00Z
  • Great place to stay for departure or arrival via Eurotunnel. But make sure you do not use the postcode given for the Eurotunnel passenger departure location as it takes you to the personnel/services part. I stayed at Guy's with my dog and the place is spacious and practical, as well as quiet. Good walking from the doorstep, too. Kitchen is very well equipped for those who like to cook.

    Susanna2020-01-27T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed with our dog for just one night prior to taking the shuttle to Calais, and the annexe suited our needs perfectly. It is exactly as described and shown in the photos. Communication with the host was excellent and check in/out seamless. The location was perfect for our needs.

    Pat2020-01-03T00:00:00Z
  • My wife and I stayed at Guy’s place for 1 night and absolutely loved it. He was very responsive and check in was a breeze. The space was lovely, comfortable and clean. It was a perfect getaway and close to the Cliffs of Dover as well as Canterbury. Highly recommend.

    Patrick & Ally2020-01-02T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed the night before an early start on the Shuttle and it was perfect - warm convenient and comfortable.

    Keith2019-12-23T00:00:00Z
  • Everything was spot-on!! Plus Guy was on-call with any queries and correspondence. The AirBnB is situated on the grounds with the main house off to the right as you exit it (so the main house overlooks the AirBnB) - this means it isn't totally private if you needed to know this. All information relative to our stay was transparent and appreciated. Guy was very polite and cooperative. We will definitely stay here again with our three small dogs. We were able to let them out, off the lead, due to its fenced enclosure and there's a large garden area for the dogs that is gated until you open it situated directly in front of you (this is also fenced off aka dog-proof). It really did tick all the boxes. Just a quickie note: the flooring is cold so bring slippers!

  • I was astounded at how amazing my stay here was! The loft was so beautifully decorated, it was the perfect to place to relax and switch off. I spent every day in the bath over looking the sea, and left so happy and refreshed. There was an issue with the WiFi, but you make it work when the property is this amazing. The bed so comfortable, the fire so peaceful to just sit and watch, the bath...heavenly, the view, stunning! I’d absolutely stay again. The hosts were so welcoming and lovely to chat to and they thought of everything! With no kitchen to cook, bring supplies, or there an amazing Balti curry house on just eat! Get the korma and coconut rice! There’s a a few nice places to eat in the area as well as a beautiful long beach walk. Great for a weekend away! Enjoy! xx

  • Wow. What a place. It was so tasteful and decadent. And a little quirky. The decor was lovely and comfortable. The record player was an excellent touch and even with the extreme weather conditions it was really peaceful watching the sea and listening to some music. No TV which was an excellent decision. It meant we could enjoy all the beauty and have some valuable time together. We would love a return. Every day of our lives.

Ideally situated to explore the beautiful Kent countryside by foot, cycle or car. 10 mins from Channel Tunnel, 20 mins from the Port of Dover and Canterbury. 10 mins from Folkestone West Station for the high speed train to London, which takes 55 mins, and 25 mins to Ashford International for the Eurostar to the continent.
The Stable is a light and airy studio recently renovated providing an ensuite shower room and kitchenette which comprises of a fridge/freezer, kettle, toaster, a small George Foreman grill and a combination microwave oven/grill. There is also an electric multi cooker/wok/skillet provided and tea and coffee making facilities. There is a patio with table and two chairs for your sole use together with a small BBQ, coals not provided. Well behaved dogs, maximum of two, are welcome (£10 payable per dog for the duration of your stay, which I will request through Airbnb). Please let me know if you are bringing a dog/s with you. I’m afraid I cannot accommodate cats. I would be grateful if dogs could please be kept off the furniture. Lovely walks on the doorstep with many footpaths in the area. We have two rescued greyhounds and three horses on the property. A tap and hose are available in the stable yard for welly and paw washing. Plenty of off road parking with PIR security lights to light you to your door. We have just installed CCTV to help with security. If you need a taxi to get to local weddings etc please let me know and I can recommend a good local firm. Also give you the correct address for them to pick you up. Many local country pubs serving food, especially The Cat and Custard Pot, which is a 10 min walk up the lane, serving excellent pub food.
Paddlesworth is in an area of outstanding natural beauty on the rural North Downs, reputably the smallest village in Kent with a pub and a 12th century church.
  • Beautiful place with fantastic amenities. Little oasis in a great location, the host was quick to answer questions and help with anything needed.

  • Our escape at the stable was a lovely experience. Sally has reserved us a warm welcome and we felt suddenly home. We loved the company of the two adorables Alfie and Poppy. The place was spotless clean, quite and easy to find. Totally recommended.

    Deborah2019-11-17T00:00:00Z
  • Exactly as described. Would really recommend a stay at Sally's.

    Pete2019-11-11T00:00:00Z
  • The perfect space, so well thought out. Very stylish with thoughtful touches (so many teas to choose from!). Sparkling clean and so comfortable. Would highly recommend.

    Maria2019-10-28T00:00:00Z
  • We felt very comfortable in "the stable". Sally took care of us very lovingly and the accommodation was ideal for us and our dog, for whom there was a lot to discover outside. "The stable" is relatively small, but everything is perfectly thought out, so that the room is again very generous. Great big windows directly into the green. Although it is only 10 minutes away from Folkestone, you are in the absolute green idyll and tranquility. If we choose this route to Scotland again we definitely want to book there again.

Layla left us some biscuits and coffee and tea and milk was there. Very thoughtful. The bedding was very fresh, smelling lovely. Netflix is a great extra as we had a bit of a bad weather on Saturday. • We only stayed at Davids place for one night but it was definitely worth the visit! We arrived at 7:30 pm after a very long drive. We were greeted warmly and our 4 month old baby felt extremely comfortable right away. David showed us our room and the bathroom which were both very clean and tidy and perfectly equipped with everything we needed (we brought our own travel cot, but everything else was there). Although our baby did wake up 3 times in the night to be fed and changed, David said he did not feel disturbed in the slightest. The next morning we woke up to a lovely breakfast with freshly brewed coffee and tea. We really appreciated the crossiants and pastries before setting off on our long journey through europe. David is a lovely host, we really enjoyed our stay and we hope to see him again soon. We can definitely recommend his air bnb.

Marvel at the stunning view and admire sleek and retro decor with Art Deco touches. Watch sea birds over a coffee with high-powered binoculars, cook up a hearty breakfast, then recharge the batteries with a Clifftop, harbour-side or beachfront walk.
Arguably the finest view in Folkestone, a panorama to behold, watch the sun rise and set over the English Channel.
Devine View sits on the popular East Cliff over looking Folkestone Harbour Arm. A five-minute walk reaches the harbour area, or beautiful cliff top walks are equally close. A very good selection of eateries and bars lie within easy reach.
  • The perfect stay. So peaceful! The apartment had everything we could have possibly needed. There was fresh bread, eggs, milk & wine for our arrival. Very thoughtful little touches throughout. Check-in was so easy. The bed was so comfortable. The view was amazing. Location is great. The list goes on and on! I would love to visit again.

  • I highly recommend staying here. This was the perfect stay; great location and Jackie was an amazing host. She made everything very simple and straightforward. I felt very welcome with the extra touches and she even managed to get the flat ready early so that I could drop my bags off earlier than the advertised check in. The flat is in a superb location, easy to find and beautifully decorated. The view from the front window out across the bay is really something else! I couldn't have asked for more! Will absolutely be staying there again when I need a little escape from hectic life. I left my phone charger behind by accident and Jackie went out the way to post it back to me as well, super host! Thank you very much.

Jackie was really helpful in arranging everything from the get go, and the apartment itself felt just like home. • Nice place and quiet neighborhood. Comfortable beds and it was good to relax before crossing the channel. A little trouble finding the instructions but Claire quickly responded and we realized it was in the back of the comments book on the table. Also I had a little trouble with the handheld shower since I had a broken hand and I couldn't find the hair dryer but other than that it was very nice. Would recommend to anyone.

The apartment is well located, parking was available. We were allowed to use the kitchen (including dishwasher). In good weather you can relax in the garden. Matt's apartment is located near the beach - so all in all: gladly again. Thumbs up.

A charming/characterful railwayman's cottage, circa 1900, close to Folkestone's vibrant fishing harbour and the amazing creative quarter. The railmen lived in these cottages, situated next to the railway. The railway is no longer in use and being turned into a leafy boulevard as an extension to the harbour. The railway serviced the likes of the Orient Express to Folkestone Harbour, whilst the guests stayed the night in the Grand Hotel during the era of the grand tour before catching the ferry.
It has been refurbished over the last years, has a brand new kitchen and bathroom, a lovely secluded outdoor terrace where you can enjoy your meals and newly painted walls in all rooms. There are security gates for children to kitchen area and in one of the bedrooms. Your comfort and satisfaction is important to us and we will be accessible by phone and email to accommodate your needs.
The house is just by Folkestone harbour and is walking distance to the harbour’s cosy cafes, the famous restaurant Rocksalt and also in walking distance to the town center with shops, galleries, restaurants, cinema and all that you need.
  • A family home, very comfortable, very well located, 5 mins walk from the designer district. We highly recommend this accommodation.

  • Great little cottage, a lovely base for a quick weekend out of London.

  • Wayne's house is a wonderful space, you can tell a lot of thought and love has been put into it. The house is on a quiet street and has all the amenities you need. It's five minutes into town which has lots of nice shops, restaurants and walks. If you need a quiet space to relax the house is perfect for that also! Wayne was absolutely brilliant from booking to arrival. He replied promptly and comprehensively, I really didn't feel like anything was trouble. The little touches of bread and milk were really thoughtful. We very much enjoyed our stay and are looking forward to coming back.

  • This is a cosy, well equipped little house in a quiet and convenient location and good value for money.

    Nick2020-01-03T00:00:00Z
  • The house is very central in relation to the town centre (10 min walk), the railway station (£5.00 taxi) and the harbour/beach (5-min walk). The amenities were great, lovely bathroom with a great shower, fully equipped kitchen and a really comfortable living and dining area. The area itself is nice and quiet and very suitable for families. Would really recommend this place.

The room available is a large bright double bedroom with a fitted wardrobe so space for hanging clothes and also shelving space, it has a very comfortable "big fluffy cloud" double bed, there is a small table and chair for use with a laptop in the room with Hive remote heating, fresh towels and complementary bottled water. The latest super fast fibre optic broadband is also installed. I love Folkestone and enjoy spending my time here, I am more than happy to recommend cool places to visit.
My apartment is a large Victorian clean well presented tidy home, it sits between Folkestone West and Folkestone Central stations and is less than 10 minutes walk to the seafront and only 15 minutes from the delightful Harbour, creative quarter and town centre. Hive remote heating and the latest super fast optic fibre broadband are installed for your convenience. The kitchen is modern with integrated units and appliances with built in fridge/freezer and also includes a microwave, full electric oven/hob with dish washer, washing machine and coffee machine. The bathroom is a clean modern fully tiled bathroom with bath, shower and a hand held power shower, there's also a heated towel rail.
Dover ferry port is a 10 minute drive from my location, The Euro Tunnel is just an 8 to 10 minute drive as it's located in Folkedtone. My apartment is situated in the West End area locally known as The Leas, it's a very nice area there is a very pretty park "Kingsdown Park' just a 2 minute walk from my place, it's close to the beach which is a lovely 10 minute walk. Folkestone has so much to offer including The Harbour Arm full of trendy eateries, bars and free live music in the Spring, Summer and Autum months. The Leas area is a wonderful place to walk and relax, perhaps sit in front of The Grand hotel and enjoy some lovely food and drinks or take along your own picnic and sit on the large grass area.
  • I really felt like at home for all the stay. Ian was really welcoming and gave good tips. I recommend it with no hesitation!

  • Ian is the perfect host - a kind and gentle man, who stops at nothing to ensure you have a good stay. The room is immaculate. The welcome is warm and thoughtful. I cant imagine a better host, and I have no hesitation in recommending this as a place to stay.

  • Ian's place is a true gem of a find if you want to stay in Folkestone. The interior is so stylish with so many little touches. Kitchen fully stocked with everything you would need, comfy bed with a heat pad and excellent shower. Ian was an excellent host who made me feel welcome to this beautiful space, despite the delay in checking in, he was ever so understanding. He answered all my questions quickly and made feel at home. Would 100% return to this flat.

    Jadursa2020-02-19T00:00:00Z

    Hanna2020-01-19T00:00:00Z
  • Very nice and very clean all round, Ian is very friendly and easy to talk to, some very nice little touches, for me personally I would of liked a TV in the room apart from that everything else was faultless. Would highly recommend and use again.

  • Stylish house with plenty of space over the three floors. Thoughtful touches with plenty of local info and Jo was really great to communicate with. Recommended.

    Paul2020-03-02T00:00:00Z
  • A group of 12 of us spent a fantastic weekend at the Gatehouse, which has great location (a very short walk to the train station and 2 minutes to the town centre) and excellent amenities. The house is light, quirky and very very sociable. The hosts made sure we had everything at hand - from bathroom toiletries to tea, coffee, cereal, bread, milk for breakfast. They even made sure there are some much needed pain killers in the bathroom! Jo was super friendly and very helpful; she made a list of recommendations for local attractions, bars and cafes, responded to all my messages almost instantly and even allowed us to check in way earlier than planned. All our friends were amazed at how great value for money this place is - we are all looking forward to coming back here in the summer!

Our Top 10 Recommendations for 2020: 1. NEW The Curious Brewery in Ashford for tours, tastings and dining! And now the Hop Fuzz Brewery in West Hythe - we are spoilt for choice! 2. Micro breweries are a firm favourite particularly the hidden gem that is the Wrong Turn at Barfrestone. 3. The Stag in the Marlowe Arcade in Canterbury is new, hip and cool with an amazing array of wall art depicting Kent beaches. 4. Is your bouldering your thing? Try Chimera Climbing in Canterbury. 5. Macknade Food Hall in Faversham is a fabulous wholefoods market with a rustic cafe or try the Good's Shed in Canterbury next to Canterbury West Railway Station serving 'best of the day' meals from ingredients sourced from the market. 6. Check out the listings for The Quarterhouse in Folkestone and you'll be a few steps away from not one, but two, Banksy favourites! Funky artwork is spread all over Folkestone from the Triennial; look out for the brightly coloured houses or the swinging bell! 7. A beautiful walk or cycle ride will take you along the Crab and Winkle way from Canterbury (starting at the Good's Shed - see above) to Whitstable. Quiet paths, country churches and limitless bluebells make this a stunning Spring adventure! 8. If Parkrun is your thing you can start the alphabet in Ashford but Canterbury, Folkestone and Whitstable will also oblige! 9. Occupying the most photographed building in Canterbury after the Cathedral is the Crooked House (Catching Lives charity bookshop) - a delightfully skewed 17th century half-timbered house in Palace Street opposite the famous Kings School. Duck to enter! 10. A trip out to the Lighthouse at Dungeness (you can see it from miles away on a clear day!) incorporates England's only offical desert. It has a spooky feel .... Archived from 2019: 1. Dover, Walmer and Deal Castles are all close by (sometimes it's worth joining English Heritage for best value deals) - this year Walmer (home of the Lord Wardens of the Cinque Ports most famously the Queen Mother and the Duke of Wellington) has re-opened it's Walmer Glen gardens - check their website for details 2. The Independent Pedaler at Bridge is a cyclist-friendly watering hole with a delicious menu and scrummy home-made cakes (especially the Hummingbird cake). 'Host a Roast' is available on Sundays. They also sell the famous locally made 'Rope and Oak' products. 3. Breakfast with a view - try the kitchen at Sene Valley Golf Course, Hythe! Delicious food, reasonably priced with a glorious view of the sea! Call ahead to make sure they are serving! 4. The new Tulip Tearooms in Bridge offer old-fashioned hospitality and irresistible cakes in the midst of a busy florists shop! 5. Cuddle up on a cosy sofa for two with your favourite alcoholic beverage at the Curzon Cinema in Canterbury - feel free to stroll out to the bar for a top-up mid-movie! 6. Cathedral services are free and the music is always amazing! The Archbishop is in residence at Easter and Christmas; an hilarious 'last night of the proms-esque' carol singing fiesta takes place in the city centre on Christmas Eve - come for a programme waving, knee-dipping sing-song! Early pre-theatre dinner menus are available at Cafe des Amis and Dems. Or after a spectacularly spooky ghost tour with Canterbury's resident 'Ghost Hunter' (book online and meet in St Margaret's Street) calm your nerves with a calorific dessert and/or hot chocolate in Creams. 8. Jazz at The George, Stone Street every Thursday at 8.15pm - real ale and good food! 9. Fancy tripping the light fantastic? Swing Jive (for beginners upwards) at the Southcliff Hotel in Folkestone on Monday evenings from 7.00pm or fortnightly ballroom and latin tea dances at The Burstin Hotel, Folkestone - are you dancin'? 10. Feeling energetic? Try a swim and a roast on Sundays at the Hythe Imperial Hotel, Hythe We haven't tried it yet but our guests tell us the Dover Sea Safari is amazing! Other, more sedate, boat trips are available! Archived from 2018: 1. In beautiful weather you can't beat a sea swim at Kingsdown near Deal where the Zetland Arms is right on the beach! If you're not a sea-bather/channel swimmer but the sun's shining and you fancy a dip try the outdoor (heated) pool at Faversham (seasonal). 2. Sondes Tea House at Sellindge - delicious food and vegan options to eat and all sorts of funky bits and bobs to buy! 3. More of the Harbour Arm in Folkestone has been renovated through the winter including the old Folkestone Harbour railway station - it's better than ever! Beautiful on a sunny evening! 4. Current favourite breakfast spot is Cafe Solo in Canterbury (Wincheap, A28) - so good and excellent value. 5. On a sunny day you can't beat brunch on the beach at Griggs of Hythe. Need to burn some calories? Hire a rowing boat on the Hythe Royal Military Canal. 6. Panoramic views of Dover Harbour and Castle from the Hythe Bay fish restaurant in Dover - we love the balcony bar and the fish is fantastic! 7. Fancy a sneaky safari? Take the footpath alongside the Romney, Hythe and Dymchurch railway station and eventually you will pass through Port Lympe wild animal park - don't be surprised to spot a giraffe through the trees! 8. Fab fish and chips at Hythe from the Park Road Fish Bar! Maybe on the way home from the safari ... 9. Either an ice-cream (closest is a McFlurry from the bottom of the hill) or an alcoholic beverage and salty snack (from Sainsburys next door to MacDonalds) taken to the top of the cliff at Capel - fabulous views of the channel and amazing star-gazing when it's clear! 10. Take a walk along the iconic White Cliffs Way at Dover - stop to examine the Fan Bay Deep Shelter and then tea at the South Foreland Lighthouse before retracing your steps. On a clear day you can see forever! But don't go too close to the edge ... Archived from 2017: Coming in ahead of first place (it was that good!) our new favourite for 2017 is Reculver; visit the Roman Fort and then slip across to see Elwyn the genial host of the Reculver Cafe (not quite Roman but built in 1902 - open til 3ish at weekends; earlier on week days) and enjoy a taste of bygone days. All day breakfasts, egg and chips, toast and marmite; excellent value and great service - a big mug of tea is £1. If you want to walk it off you are a stone's throw from the Saxon Shore Way. There is a public car park (pay and display) or if you are lucky you can squeeze in to the lane next door. 1. Fish and Chips on the beaches at Hythe, Whitstable or Herne Bay; or our current favourite is The Deep Blue, Wincheap, Canterbury (enormous portions for sharing and great value!) 2. Afternoon tea at Tiny Tim's, Canterbury (the 'Hairy Bikers' loved it!) before or after Evensong in the Cathedral (check website for times - weekends are different). Get there early if you want to try a 'Plump Pilgrim'! Kent teas and coffees from Pluckley - our favourite is the smoky Russian Caravan! 3. Coffee and fresh doughnuts after a windy walk at Whitstable - you know you are near by the lovely smell! If seafood is more your thing - they still cook the famous Whelks at Wests on the harbour side. Whitstable is equally famous for its oysters - kick back and relax at the Oyster Fishery or Wheelers in the High Street. 4. Watch the sun set at Farthing Common 'the top of the world!' - or from your private balcony outside the Little Hayloft. 5. Walk or cycle the Great Stour Way - Chartham to Canterbury; or the Saxon Shore Way - Reculver to Margate if you're feeling energetic - ask us for maps! 6. Walk into Elham village and have supper at one of the pubs or the Abbots Fireside (borrow a torch for the walk home!) The pubs normally stop serving at 8pm - earlier at the weekend. 7. Hire mountain bikes and book a guide at Fowlmead Country Park - a disused open cast mine with great views over Royal St George's golf course at Sandwich. 8. We love a good breakfast! Now available at Macfarlane's Garden Centre (now renamed Folkestone Garden Cente but still as good)! 9. Take a tasting tour at Shepherd Neame brewery in Faversham (Britain's oldest brewer - since 1689) - check the dates for the annual autumn Hop Festival weekend. 10. Sip a glass of Champagne at the end of the Harbour Arm in Folkestone (seasonal) - you might also spot Dave the Dolphin (who's actually a porpoise - and a girl - but the name stuck)! The famous Rock Salt restaurant is also nearby - you do need to book (or try the Smokehouse next door for a more relaxed Fish and Chip supper) 11. If you're brave enough check out the Ossuary at St Leonard's Church, Hythe ... 12. Visit the Elham Valley Vineyard and sample their delicious menus - wait a minute? Number 12? We could go on ... okay we will .... 13. Hire a canoe at The George and Dragon pub at Fordwich (Britain's smallest town) and paddle the Stour to the Grove Ferry Inn. The Grove Ferry is also the starting point for a lovely circular walk through the Stodmarsh Nature Reserve. Boat trips available in summer. 14. Drive a 36-ton train on a private track through the Kent countryside. Start the day with a filling cooked breakfast then learn to drive an ex-military train. Don't forget your camera! We are always looking out for new tea rooms, walks, things to see and do (the research is soooooo hard) but come and see for yourselves; you'll never be bored in East Kent! Short of time? Potter along the old railway line which is now the Elham Valley Way. Do check listings for the Marlowe and Gulbenkian Theatres in Canterbury or the cinema in Faversham is only a fiver! George's Turkish restaurant in Preston Street is great too ...and we're off again!
  • Lorna was a very friendly host offering advice and assistance with whatever we needed. The property is charming and has a wide array of facilities available. Would be happy to stay in this beautiful area and property again in the future.

  • We was looking for somewhere relaxing and quiet for a few nights, The Hayloft was the perfect choice! Lorna’s communication was great, answering all our questions before our trip and sending directions the day before arrival. We managed to find The Hayloft easily just by the postcode. Lorna greeted us on arrival, was very friendly and made us feel at ease and if we needed to ask anything we could. The room was so clean and comfortable, very homely and warm. It was equipped with everything we needed and more. The sofa bed was very comfortable and we slept really well. The pubs are only a 10 minute walk across a field, we ate in 2 of the pubs and both served us very good food, the walk back over the fields after dark wasn’t nice but there are torches available in the room-nice touch and needed. The hot tub was such a treat! We used it around 9pm, under the stars with a glass of wine! Perfect! Lorna & Andrew were lovely, very friendly and have a beautiful place, thank you for having us and will definitely be recommending to everyone we know!

  • Very clean and comfortable. I couldn’t fault it and feel that I have found a real gem. Would highly recommend.

  • A really cosy little spot. Compact but really well equipped. Kept us warm and dry during Storm Dennis. Super comfortable night's sleep and the bottle of Prosecco for Valentine's Day was a lovely touch. Christine was very responsive and helpful. We'd highly recommend staying here to explore Folkestone, particularly Dr Legumes and Terlingham Vineyard.

    Tom2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • The place is very clean and cozy. Situated near the town center too so it’s convenient.

    Collin2020-01-19T00:00:00Z
  • Christine delivered everything she promised for mine and my partner's stay here and then went the extra mile to make it as an enjoyable experience as possible. Lots of local tips about where to go for food, drink, and sightseeing. A short history of the area - Folkestone's history and the pride it's people take in it is a big part of its charm - lots of restaurants, bars, and a delightful bookshop converted into a cafe all on oour doorstep. When we wanted to stay in, we found most takeaway places deliver quickly while Christine had laid on lots of tasty treats and set up an honesty box to pay for them at the same price you could expect to find in any shop. Most importantly, Christine sent me all the info I needed on location and how to check in and out in good time and when I did need to ask her something, responded straight away.

  • If you're visiting the arty harbour end of Folkestone this little flat is in the perfect situation . We were down at the Quarterhouse for a couple of events in 5 minutes. It is so close to the Quirky Harbour Arm bars and restaurants and to the Arts quarter. I agree with the other reviews about thoughtfulness and responsiveness and cleanliness etc. I think it is worth noting how great Folkestone itself is for a trip with the combination of art shops great places to eat and drink and the sea. We had a lovely time.

Take a break on your journey with a comfortable stay in a family home. Just a 10 minute drive to the Euro Tunnel terminal and a small hop to Europe. Double bed (cot available) in private room and access to private sitting room. Bed linen and towels are provided. Breakfast is not provided.
Lyminge is a lovely village with a thriving community in The Kent Downs, area of outstanding natural beauty. There is a really good Chinese and an Indian restaurant on the same street as our house as well as a chemist. The village boasts a great little cafe, a well stocked convenience store/Post Office, Library, barbers, pretty 14th century church, family run Freehold pub, village green and children's play park, all within a 5 minute walk. We are on a direct bus route to Canterbury, Hythe and Folkestone. We are a 10 minute drive to the M20 and Euro Tunnel and 15 mins drive to Ashford and the Euro Star.
  • I have been living in Airbnb fulltime since august 2018 and travelled far and wide too. This has been by far the best experience. The hosts Janna and her partner Patrick did everything and more to make my stay as good as possible I was treated like a member of their family and included in Sunday roast meals, quiz night at the local pub, trips out (they offered me lifts in their car), walks in the most beautiful countryside with Roona their beautiful and friendly dog, and they even checked I was ok and helped me through some days when I didnt feel very well which was exceptional. The house and room is big and beautiful. Much bigger than shown in the photos and the bed is wonderfully confortable too. The location is great and only 40 minutes to Canterbuty and even quicker to get to the coast (Folkestone) and to Ashford train station (40 minutes into London) . Writing this review has been so hard alfor me as there are so many things that are exceptional - did I forget to mention a wonderful farm shop Close by that sells lovely locally produced organic food (with an 'honesty box" to pay). This is a special place with very special hosts and comes with my highest recommendation.

    Nigel2020-02-01T00:00:00Z
  • I loved my stay at Janna and Patrick's beautiful home in the charming village of Lyminge. The communication prior to arrival was prompt and clear and I received a warm welcome. The house and room was really comfortable, clean and well-appointed. They have two living rooms plus a conservatory so it was easy for me to find a quiet spot to relax with a book. Janna and Patrick shared some great tips about the area including suggestions of local restaurants and walks. I enjoyed my escape from the city and had a pleasant day exploring Canterbury, which is only a short bus ride away. Thank you, Janna and Patrick!

My flat is a 5 minute walk to the Harbour, with great restaurants, shops, beach and the Harbour Arm. The Arm has events, bars, live music, food outlets, film nights on a large outside screen. The Old High Street is full of independent shop and restaurants a great place to while away a couple of hours. The Lea's Cliff Hall is a short walk with great shows and events. If you stay in the flat has a 42 inch TV with BT sports, NETFLIX, puzzles and board games.
My flat is all about the location, its right by the Harbour. Great for restaurants the beach and the Harbour Arm. The flat has all the things that I need and some that I don't. Good wifi, smart TV, great to chill out after time down the beach or a walk on the cliffs. The Leas Cliff Hall has good shows, talks and groups and it's only a 15 minute walk.
  • Lovely cared for apartment - close to the centre of all good things in Folkestone... the Harbour, the Creative Quarter and restaurants and pubs. Was a little noisy at times, but great value for money and I loved having all the plants and homely feeling. Fantastically stocked kitchen utensils as well for home-cooking!

    Tamsin2020-03-15T00:00:00Z
  • Very cozy apartment, not very large but functional, we really appreciated the thick British carpet, the dining room is a bit small but very pleasant, with a large TV, with Netflix access and playstation 4 games, the children enjoyed the cold, rainy weather. The apartment is well located close to the center. It is easy to find using the directions given by James. Everything was fine.

    Marie2020-02-27T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great stay at James' appartment. It was clean, exactly as it shows on the pictures. Communication was easy. Close to town center, sea and shops.

    Malou2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • This is a lovely apartment, packed with good quality equipment, utensils and even entertainment systems and board games. The hosts instructions were prompt and clear. Overall this was a really good place. Just to note, the walls on the building itself are notably thin and you do get noise/footsteps from apartments above which could be problematic for light sleepers. The surrounding area/entryways are a little run down, but these issues are outside of the hosts control and it's a very brief walk to the creative quarter.

    Andy2020-02-10T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely flat close to harbour, as the photos show. James was really responsive and accommodating - flat slightly difficult to find however James told me about this just before my arrival. All amenities provided alongside a range of entertainment (games/Netflix/books) - would highly recommend.

A comfortable twin-room with TV, WiFi, breakfast and a shower room in Edwardian house with easy parking. A 2 minute walk to leas with stairs to coastal park and beach. 5 mins. to town centre with shops, creative art quarter and restaurants.
In a quiet avenue 2 minutes away from the beach and 5 from town centre, also within 5 minutes of the countryside. There are beautiful walks, golf courses, horse riding, tennis, restaurants, art works and numerous other places of interest close by. • Nice quiet place. Elizabeth is very nice. Good value.

  • I stayed at Elizabeths every time I’m in Folkestone, she is a welcoming and thoughtful host. Her flat is in a very nice and quiet residential street a few minutes away from the town centre and the beach. The flat is sparkling clean and the bedroom is spacious, nicely decorated and the bed is incredibly comfortable. Breakfast included is a real bonus, highly recommend !

    Annalaura2019-11-10T00:00:00Z
  • Elizabeth’s place is in a beautiful neighborhood very close to the sea. We thoroughly enjoyed our walk along the seaside and also, into the town center of Folkestone. The room was spotless and comfortable with a lot of natural light and a view onto her pretty back garden. The bathroom shower was also nice. The extra special touch was the lovely breakfast set-up she laid out every morning. Very nice! I highly recommend!

    Kelly2019-11-04T00:00:00Z
  • Elizabeth's place is really cosy in a lovely, quiet part of town. Just a short walk to the stunning cliffs and steps down to the beach and easy to get to the station.

  • Lovely flat with a clean , bright and spacious room. Elizabeth was both welcoming and accommodating with an added bonus of a friendly, playful cat!

  • This is one of the few AirBnBs I've stayed in where I got the second 'B' - breakfast. Elizabeth's flat is a 15 minute walk into the centre of Folkestone, and is a 5 minute walk from The Leas promenade overlooking the sea. The room is spacious, the bathroom is sparklingly clean and it's tremendous value.

Snuggle up with a fire and enjoy a film on the ‘big screen’ after a bracing walk along Folkestone’s stunning coastline. Loved by groups and families: Play Air hockey or devour books, dvds and games. Fancy dress, toys, lego, a giant chalkboard and A STAGE for any creative kids! 15 min walk from; beaches, cliff top, harbour arm, old high street, our awesome creative quarter and eclectic eateries, international art (it's everywhere!). 7 minute drive to Eurotunnel and 18 minutes to Dover port.
The space includes an enormous, flexible living/bedroom upstairs with a log burner, air hockey table and a comfy king sized bed. Downstairs is a double bedroom and french doors on to a pretty, private patio. There is a further flexible living/bedroom downstairs with two single chair beds that can also be pushed together to make a double or used as a living space. There is a small bathroom (and luxurious freestanding bath) in the same building as the sleeping accommodation. . All the downstairs rooms face directly onto a south-facing ‘outdoor living room’ which is a covered patio with benches, table, sofa and plants - we LOVE plants! This is a super sunny spot as it’s so sheltered. We have an infrared heater which heats objects (you!) and not the air so is perfect for outside on chilly days. Across the quirky outdoor living room/covered patio is a private shower/wet room and toilet and a small kitchenette. This isn’t a full kitchen but has fridge with small freezer, microwave with grill, kettle, toaster, waffle maker. We supply tea/coffee and a few basics. In The Dairy there is a projector which creates a fab cinema-type space when projected on the end wall. There’s also a dvd player for you to use and over 100 dvds (mostly for kids but there was a time when I watched films too!) to choose from. You can also connect your own film accounts/games etc. There’s a full sized air hockey table for you to use. If you have kids I can leave you chalk and a massive box of lego (for large-scale creations on the air hockey table cover). And there are books. Lots. The bed upstairs is actually a stage (acquired from a social club) and, if you whip the mattress off, can be used as such. I can supply a couple of suitcases full of random fancy dress items for any (little) budding thespians out there. You’re welcome to use the table tennis table which is stored in our garage. If you want to use the wood burning stove let me know and I can leave you a basket of logs and instructions for a small charge. You need to walk past the front of our house to access The Dairy but the lay out means it’s mostly tucked away out of view so it feels quite private. Even though a small part of the outdoor living room looks onto the rest of our garden, you won’t see us much if you don’t want to. There’s a taste of the seaside and the building’s agricultural origins in The Dairy and we hope you’ll agree that it’s quite a cool, comfy and fun place to hang out. We are not a boutique hotel though, so please don’t expect the finish of one. The accommodation is in an outbuilding which I’ve been told was a dairy. Our house, which was apparently an old farmhouse, is still a work in progress. You’ll have to excuse the pink gutters and exposed brickwork as you walk past (please avert your eyes). It’s an old building and needs its feet drying out! There is parking on the road which sometimes get busy in the early evenings. You can park in front of our gates which is usually left free (but I can't guarantee it). My cleaning charge is £50 is it's a large space and takes a long time to clean and get ready. If you're a couple and only using some of the space, I can reduce this on request!
We are on the East side of town which means we’re a 15 minute walk to the Warren. This is Folkestone’s wild and wonderful bit of coastline. It’s the perfect place for rock-pooling, hill scrambling and clambering, fossil-hunting and seal-spotting (we had a few regulars last summer). We’re a similar distance from sunny sands with its clean water, sheltered arches and vast expanses of sand (at low tide) and the harbour arm where it ALL happens. You can also hire kayaks, paddle boards and bikes from here and buy crab nets and buckets and spades etc. Folkestone attracts (and supports) creative and passionate communities . The creative quarter stretches out up the old cobbled high street and towards the historic Bayle. This and the Quarterhouse (theatre/music/film/debate/comedy/art) on Tontine Street are Folkestone's cultural heart. Explore, shop, eat, drink! The harbour arm boasts a champagne bar in the lighthouse at the end (at which point you're almost in France) but you'll have to make it past a number of other fab places to eat and drink from local seafood, Indian street food, vegan delicacies, pizza and 'the three best Basque things I think I’ve ever eaten anywhere' (Giles Coren, top food critic inThe Times, June 2019) reviewing the unexpecting 'Pick Up Pintxos' . There is an open air cinema during the summer as well as vintage markets and live music throughout the summer. The Coastal Park and the Edwardian grandeur of Leas and the West End is a bit further along this pebbled bit of coastline. Folkest hosts the UK’s largest urban contemporary art collection with works by the likes of Tracey Emin and Antony Gormley dotted around town. You can grab a map and set out on a tour of the artworks of just wander and see what treasures you find! Whilst there’s lots happening nearby we do live on a very ordinary street on the end of a row of small terraced houses. It’s a quiet residential area and we have lovely neighbours so whilst we want you to enjoy the space, please do bear this in mind. There are lots of great things to do nearby and you could easily keep busy on a week-long holiday. Some of our favourite things to do (if you ever get bored of the beach) are: -Port Lympne Safari Park -The Romney, Hythe and Dymchurch Railway -Dover Castle -Betteshanger Park for off road cycling paths
  • What a great place to stay! we happily walked to the sea front from the accommodation. Despite the out of season timing we chose (and the fact we visited on the Monday) we enjoyed a wonder and the pub, there is also a convenient shop your can see from the front gate of the property. Free on street parking was also great, our group had 3 cars and we managed to park. Natalie is a great host, left us milk in the fridge for when we arrived, everywhere was lovely and clean, great bedding and soft towels. We also stayed when the weather was pretty chilly and I was surprised how warm it was - great heating. Would have loved to have stayed longer, Thanks again Natalie!

  • My stay at Natalie’s lovely AirBnB was fantastic. She was warm and welcoming on communication and the place was wonderful. I would definitely stay there again in a heartbeat.
