We had a lovely stay at Farnsfield House, Carol was fantastic and the area was beautiful. It was exactly what we were looking for, very peaceful and relaxing. Will definitely look to go again.

This property exceeded expectation. The room was beautifully presented, complete with homely touches. Great location for a little peace and tranquility. I would recommend using the fire during the winter months due to stone walls. Umbrellas were much appreciated. Would definately return.

Stayed for the weekend to attend a wedding at nearby Norwood Park and we were very happy with the lodge. Great facility, very clean and perfect for our use.

I really enjoyed staying at Carol and Tim's place. They've created a space full of character and comfort which was perfect for my stay. It had everything I needed to unwind from a long day and I slept beautifully. Can highly recommend.

The lodge was very cosy and clean! The lodge is decorated with unique artifacts which makes the lodge quite nice and memorable. The bed was very comfortable and wide. We enjoyed staying at this beautiful lodge and also loved swimming in the pool. I highly recommend this beautiful place. Carol and Tim were extremely friendly and helpful and are great hosts.

A beautifully decorated, cosy lodge done in the style of a ski chalet. Everything you could possibly need for a couple or small family, in a beautiful, rural location within walking distance of the lovely village of Farnsfield. We were pleasantly surprised how much there was to do in the area - we took our young children to Wheelgate Park, which they loved, and rented bikes in Sherwood Forest. There's loads more to do too, and we'll definitely be back.

The hideaway is a lovely place to relax, it's clean and modern with all the amenities. Gemma is a fantastic host and on hand to help if needed but with the privacy of being separate. The local area has great restaurants, and great places to visit right on doorstep. Will definitely be back.

Great location we cycled and walked in the surrounding areas - southwell trail was an excellent cycle. Local shops to get amenities and pubs for food and drinks. We watched a local cricket match the locals were very friendly. The house had comfy beds, clean bathroom, steep staircase and excellent kitchen. Highly recommend.

I had a wonderful few days here. The bungalow was sparklingly clean and really well equipped. A comfy bed, plenty of big towels and a cosy log burner. Check-in was easy, Katie was great to deal with and quick to respond. Highly recommended!

We highly recommend Bridget’s place for a stay in the Notts countryside. The cottage is absolutely lovely. Very cosy and comfortable. Little touches like the fresh flowers and info about the village (walks/pub etc) make all the difference. Our dog Bessie loved the garden and was very pleased to meet Digger, Bridget’s pug. Bridget is a great host. Very friendly and welcoming without being imposing. We bumped into her and Digger on Sunday morning and went for a quick ‘turn’ around the fields out back. We had a wonderful short break with everything we needed. Warm, clean,comfortable and peaceful.Bridget was an excellent host . The village is lovely and the food and service at theCross Keys is excellent. Lots of wonderful circular walks in beautiful countryside start and finish in the village. Highly recommended for couples or singles but not for small children due to steep cottage staircase. A lovely cottage holiday experience .

Bridget’s place is fabulous, really clean, everything you need and more, lovely little touches make it very personal. The location is great as the local pub does food and there is a little cafe for breakfast. We would recommend and stay again.

Loved this place

Bridget's cottage is ideal for a couple looking to get away to the countryside but do not want to be in the middle of no where. It is in a lovely village with a good pub and bakery and friendly residents. The cottage is charming and has everything that you need. Upstairs the bed is very comfortable and there is a new bathroom with good shower. Communication with Bridget was excellent, she was responsive and very helpful.

Great space and location for a retreat or short stay in the country. Cosy space with great amenities for a very comfortable stay. A real treat!

We came here with our 3 dogs for a 1 night stay and absolutely loved it. An idyllic hideaway for us all that felt very private and secluded. It has everything you need, we just brought butter, milk and bread for the morning. If you have dogs make sure to check if it's £10 extra cleaning total or per dog! It was a freezing night when we were there but it was really cosy, except for a cold floor! The log burner wasn't burning when we got there as there was an oil radiator, but we did light it to try and warm the bathroom before showering and it was quick to light and gave out tonnes of heat! There's a stable door so you can look out at the birds in the morning, which we loved. Do keep your dogs on leads at all times though as the little fenced area won't keep them in and there are chickens, dogs and ducks roaming. We're planning to go back and would definitely recommend it.

This was our first time in a Shepard’s Hut and we loved it. Such a cute space, very clean and super cosy. Suzanne was always quick to respond to my messages, and we felt very at home on the farm. 100% we’ll be back!

This place was a perfect little piece of rural heaven with all the facilities to feel as if you’re not “roughing it” too much! The hut was toasty and warm on our arrival - there was lots of local information and advice available and a couple of maps for walks which we followed with the dog! Wellies are a must (especially in this weather) but we brought ours as advised and had a lovely couple of walks around the farm and surrounding areas. Suzanne had thought of everything with biscuits, cereal and fresh local milk - all the little bits you need for a night away. We really found the place to be absolutely perfect, so relaxing and peaceful - also very clean and comfortable! A real escape from the world for a while. We would definitely stay again if we were in the area - such good value for money!

Richie's place is lovely, and was full of fresh flowers when we arrived. It is bigger than the photos suggest, and yet still retains the cosy feel. It is very comfy, quiet and spotlessly clean. The bedroom is upstairs in a loft room, with chic decor and good quality bedding. Tall people should note this does mean low ceilings. The kitchen was well appointed, and we were pleased to find a pint of milk left for us in the fridge - although we took Richie's advice and bought excellent barista made coffee from the Veg Stop which is next door. Check in was really easy, as we picked our keys up from the shop, open until 10pm on Fridays. We highly recommend it and are likely to go back.

A perfect adult escape with a log burner! It has everything you need, games, heating, hot water, fridge and freezer space (great for locally produced ice cream and strawberry’s) really comfy beds! it’s a Great location and a Cosy cabin! everything we wanted was within walking distance! Nice villages local farm shops and good pubs 👌🏻 See you guys again soon

I’ve never stayed in a shepherd’s hut before so didn’t know quite what to expect. It was really lovely though. Small and cosy and sparkling clean. Well equipped and even outdoor seating and BBQ which were lovely extras. There were lanterns outside which made it look very welcoming. Thank you. We will be back for longer next time - and now we’ve worked out finding the right road in, even better!

Fantastic spot and shepherds hut was spotless - a mini Tardis! The doggy blanket box was a nice touch and the horses on the farm were beautiful. A lovely place to chill for the weekend. One tip - as there is a lake back bug spray if staying out in evening :)

We had a very warm welcome from Suzanne and David. The shepherd’s hut was very clean, tidy and cosy. We enjoyed sitting outside the hut and having visits from the ducks and chickens. We enjoyed the peace and quiet.

Paul is great host. The place has great character and it’s a very welcoming environment - it’s a homely spot. With Paul’s good communication and descriptions, even tips for the evening this was the perfect stay in Southwell. Highly recommendable!

The house is in an excellent location in the centre of the town, a stones throw from some great pubs and restaurants. I recommend the Italian with its views of the minster! The room was spacious and comfortable. A decent shower was much appreciated the morning after the wedding I was at. Paul and Barbara made check-in very easy and I wouldn’t hesitate to stay again! Thank you again for the help tracking down my phone charger after too!

Jane has done wonders with the space. Quality linen, well equipped kitchen and everything you need with a fantastic view. I would just say if you have a mobility issue it won’t be for you due to the stairs to access the property but other than that it’s fabulous.

The Loft is an excellent space to stay in, the loft itself is extremely clean and has everything you could need. The location is perfect for exploring Sherwood Forest as well as the Peak District.

The old school loft is a beautiful short stay retreat perfectly positioned in Blidworth between two pubs. It has really good connections with public transport and close to local attractions, Newstead Abby and Sherwood Forest.

The Barn is a lovely place to stay with everything you could need, very cosy and a friendly pub just across the road. Jo was an attentive host and communication was good. Highly recommend a stay here; great base to explore Sherwood Pines and the surrounding area.

This is a beautiful barn with a fantastic garden, the Hosts are very friendly and welcoming, the barn itself was very clean and tidy with great facilities. The surrounding area is breath taking and local amenities are fantastic, i highly recommend the food at the Wood Berry cafe, friendly staff and great food. All in all it was a perfect weekend break, i cant wait to go back and visit again. Thank you very much Josephine, it was a pleasure staying at your barn

Beautiful annexe with the most comfortable, king sized bed (and my back usually aches in the morning!). Spotlessly clean and well presented with plenty of room for a couple. Well thought out kitchen with everything you could need (we forgot the ketchup- there was some in the kitchen!) Rachel is a wonderful host, let us have an early check in, provided us with local free range eggs from the village for breakfast- we saw the hens wandering about the village! This was our second stay in Rachel's beautiful annexe. Will definitely stay again.

Ideal for our 2 night-stay. Lovely annex to a country house, 1 large bedroom, a shower room with sink & toilet, a very functional kitchen. Every very clean and tidy. It was very easy to communicate with Rachel, and the box of chocolates waiting for us was really thoughtful. We highly recommend, and we will be returning when visiting relatives close to Epperstone.

Larry's place is perfectly situated in Southwell. Only a 10 minute walk into the centre. A very comfortable house with everything you need for a nice weekend.

We had a great stay at Larry's place. We were worried about check-in because our flight got in late, but Larry made it very easy. The space is clean and stayed cool despite there being a heat wave while we were there.

Lovely little house in a small mews, with beautiful bathrooms. Set on the main road, so easy to find and can park the car on the road right outside. No more than a 5 minute walk to Southwell town centre and the public footpath that cuts past the recreation ground and through the historical minster is a stones throw from the house, very convenient.

What an amazing place to stay, so stylish and comfortable. The bed is incredible slept so well. Perfect location to have a walk into town and enjoy the local amenities. Couldn’t of asked for a better weekend. Would definitely recommend a stay at Larry’s place!!

Larry’s place was clean, modern, comfortable, perfectly located and I would certainly stay again. Larry was very prompt in replying to all messages and went out of his way to make the entire stay as easy as possible.

We had a wonderful stay here! The place was clean and very well presented. The beds were comfy and the kitchen was well equipped. Unfortunately some of the pipework leaked behind the shower valve which resulted in 1 or 2 of us not being able to shower but that certainly wasn’t Becky’s fault by any means. Becky was responsive all weekend and was already on the case of the plumbing faults by the time the last of us were leaving and I’m sure this issue will have been rectified prior to whoever visits next. Despite this issue I still rate our stay 5 stars. Highly recommended, would definitely use again in future🙂

We stayed here for a family wedding so there were 3 families, there was plenty of room and all the amenities we required. Good parking.

Mandy's place was clean and warm and great value for money. Nice location, especially if you like horses, and there are good forest walks from the doorstep. There is also a pub within walking distance.

Great location and pub nearby, within walking distance. Mandy was very accommodating and organised horse trekking through the woods with all the kids. The older kids struggled somewhat with the size of the third bedroom/bunk beds. Felt there perhaps could have been more kitchen utensils to make cooking a little easier but made do. With the lodge being attached to the end of a barn and stables things are a little rustic, do feel the cleanliness left a little to be desired but overall a good stay.

What an awesome little hidden gem!! We had a mini Christmas with my parents and this was about half way for us both. My dad is disabled and there were 5 of us staying so finding somewhere was tricky but we had a lovely time. Managed to cook a roast dinner play board games and have a lovely little celebration away from home. The master and ensuite were stunning! We will he coming to visit again!

Didn't get to stay in the end, due to me changing my dates, Lindsay was however, very accommodating in letting me move my stay x2 and then refunding me, when I was unable stay. This was generous of her, so I will definitely stay in the future and thank Lindsay for her flexibility.

What a superb stay, made all the better by Lindsay letting us check in a bit early due to our previous nights arrangements and the special touch of a balloon, banner and card for my birthday. POD was lovely and clean, has everything you need there and the town of Southwell is superb especially our two favourite pubs the Final Whistle with it's quirky little interior, we sat in 1st class! AND the The Admiral Rodney with it's roaring open fire and awesome food! We had a carvery on the Sunday and burgers for tea on the Monday, great staff there too. Would definitely recommend a trip to Southwell Retreat and to Southwell. What a lovely little stay for my Birthday!

Stayed at the Red lion Lodge this weekend, what an amazing time we had! The place was clean, stylish and had everything we could've asked for. Was a really lovely place and would definitely stay again!

I lovely place to stay, very friendly and helpful meeting to start with, even though we stayed through storm Dennis the place was so cosy and quiet, we work in the city and it was what we wanted for an ideal break.

Great accommodation, log burner is ace, huge comfy bed - a genuine log cabin with everything you need. No Tv was great to have time with my husband.

Caroline & Charlie’s cabin is gorgeous - perfect escape for a winter weekend, close to Rufford Abbey, some lovely pubs and cafes to let you have a gorgeous get away. The cabin gives you the opportunity to really unwind with the gorgeous stove fire. Breakfast was also provided which was a great added touch and their daughter was really helpful and friendly upon arrival. All in all was a great trip and I’m sure I’ll be coming back!

Caroline and Charlie's place is simply stunning. A peaceful retreat to escape everyday life. Caroline is an amazing host who can not do enough to help, nothing is too much trouble. There are so many attractions to visit close by. We would highly recommend and thank Caroline and Charlie for the opportunity to stay at Wranglers Den.

Wrangler's Den is a lovely little cosy cabin, just as described in the listing. Right on the doorstep of Sherwood Forest, complete with a very toasty little wood burning fireplace and lovely touches like all the essentials to make a nice breakfast in the morning. I would highly recommend it for a little retreat from modern life (a break from Wi-Fi and TVs are no bad thing!). Would definitely stay here again!

The wranglers den is simply gorgeous. Communication was great from booking to checking out. Ian kept in contact during our arrival day and was there to meet us with a roaring fire going! The den was very clean and comfortable - we loved how dark and cosy it was. Thank you for a great stay. We hope to visit again soon!

Can't recommend the cabin enough. Communication with Ian was extremely easy and he always responded very promptly to messages. He was waiting to check us in, was very friendly and made sure we had everything we needed. The cabin itself was super cosy and had a lovely fire. The location is excellent - we walked into the forest straight from the cabin. Shops and pubs also very close by. A perfect getaway to recharge your batteries!

The instructions for check in were perfect. We found the location easily and had very good communication from Steve throughout. The seating area was a good size and the caravan warmed up very quickly. We used the wash block for showers and this provided hot water and good facilities! The setting was very tranquil and we would come back in the summer Months to enjoy the outside space

Great little lodge, (actually not that little). All basic facilities provided and beautiful surroundings. Portable heaters adequate for late October. Would stay again

The location is stunning and the caravan space larger than I expected. The lounge could comfortably seat over 10 people and has beautiful views from all windows surrounded by trees with one side getting a glimpse of the lake. On the first night we enjoyed cooking our own dinner and watching a bit of TV on the well sized TV. The next day, we spend exploring nearby Sherwood Forest (only 18 mins drive) and had a lovely pub dinner at The Admiral Rodney (only a few minutes drive away from the caravan). At night it got a bit nippy and we used the electric radiators for a few hours. It's ideal for the summer. For colder seasons be prepared to layer up. We would certainly love to come back.

Great NYE, amazing facilities to make a great dinner, and very spacious. One room has 2 VERY thin beds.

A great place to stay at anytime of the year. Extra touches by Steve helped make our second stay delightful. The lodge was beautifully prepared, lovely & clean on arrival & well equipped. The lodge is located on a private Caravan Club site, but it is right at the back, in the most peaceful part of the site with a view of the fishing pond. A very peaceful spot. It's a nice little lodge, warm and comfy with everything you need. We enjoyed a couple of nights here, and appreciated the bottle of wine on arrival. The parking is a short distance from the lodge across the grass. We enjoyed our stay, thanks.

Super terraced house with 2 bedrooms. Parking for 2 cars at the front. Really appreciated the opportunity to leave our bags early. Thoughtful milk, tea and coffee provided. Would stay again.

Comfortable house found it exactly as described. Warm, cosy and well equipped. Mark was very good at communications and answered our queries promptly before our stay and during. Halam is a beautiful little village a short drive from the interesting town of Southwell, easy access into Nottingham centre on the train from the nearby village of Bleasby. All in all we spent a very pleasant Christmas week there.

This place is perfect, it’s has everything and more, great little escape for our little family, lovely village pub opposite the house, lovely views and we have come back home fully refreshed from this little get away! Would highly recommend

Perfect location for a friend's wedding at Newark Hall. There's a great pub, 'The Waggon' 50m away which did an amazing 3 course meal for £15 too. Sofa bed was fine for 2 people and there was breakfast left for us although we couldn't locate a coffee machine for the coffee!

Louise's place is a great stop for local sherwood forest, really nice property that has been finished to a very high standard, and only walking distance from a very lovely pub nearby! Thank you for having us.

Wow, what a fantastic find! From the moment Louise greeted us to posting the keys back through the door as we left - we enjoyed every moment of it. The house is lovely, comfortable but stylish, immaculately clean (the glassware, crockery and cutlery sparkle). They have thought of everything and more besides. I would be amazed if anyone discovered something lacking (we’d taken steak knives but there were even a set of those in the drawer). The beds are comfy, the bathrooms luxurious and spotless clean. The location is great - and within walking distance of a few pubs although we only visited 2 (The Black Bull was our favourite, great setting and lovely staff). I couldn’t recommend it enough; we’ll certainly be back.

Wonderful cottage, Louise has thought of everything possible to make your stay very comfortable. Excellent bathrooms with luxury towels and robes. Both bedrooms are ensuite. Even a downstairs cloakroom for added convenience. Kitchen excellent even a coffee machine. Plenty of space but a cosy feel at the same time. The Black Bull pub is only a few minutes walk away too. Outstanding place very clean Louise also greets you at the property. We will definitely stay again.

Great place to stay, highly recommend. All rooms were very spacious and the place was spotless. Beautiful location surrounded by lakes and woodland that our dog loved exploring. Perfect weekend all round :)

Beautiful caravan, lovely and clean, best shower ever! Nice and warm even in November, fully equipped, great kitchen and perfect location for the Mansfield and Sherwood Forest area, perfect for a dog friendly getaway. Will stay again 100%

Perfect spot for our overnight stay in Southwell - good communication from host so we found the annex easily - adequate parking - central to the town - friendly,relaxed host who made us feel very comfortable - annex had a lot more amenities than expected Will stay again if in the area

Lovely little self contained cottage on a beautiful little historic street in Southwell

Sally’s place was so lovely and is the cutest little guesthouse. It was the perfect place to stay for us. Sally was very thoughtful and welcoming, and even offered to pick us up from the train station with all our luggage. Thank you for being such a great host!

Lovely period house house in the heart of a beautiful town

The house is a lovely period property and with it being situated in the heart of the village there is always lots to do. There are also good transport links to both Newark and Nottingham. The house itself is a very homely, comfortable and clean space. Contact with the owner was of a great standard. Fully recommend this property if you're looking to stay in Southwell.

Very good Location and accomodation, great communication

A fantastic and very relaxing stay. The accommodation is perfect. Small touches such as usb sockets in friar tucks cabin were really useful. Very comfortable and centrally heated which was handy as the evenings were a bit chilly in early May. The host was warm and welcoming with lots of helpful advice to make the stay extra enjoyable. There is a handy play area outside with a couple of goals (ideal for the young football enthusiast) and an indoor pool table. It was lovely to walk around the farm; groom the horses and see the lambs. Handy tip - if you would like a riding lesson worth contacting the host in advance so it’s all organised ahead of time. There are some nice pubs in the area if you don’t fancy cooking. Everything in the lodge is provided that you need to enjoy your stay (except food 😀) including toilet rolls and towels. If you end up staying here we hope you have as an enjoyable time as well did. I’m sure we will go back again.
