  • This property exceeded expectation. The room was beautifully presented, complete with homely touches. Great location for a little peace and tranquility. I would recommend using the fire during the winter months due to stone walls. Umbrellas were much appreciated. Would definately return.

  • A beautifully decorated, cosy lodge done in the style of a ski chalet. Everything you could possibly need for a couple or small family, in a beautiful, rural location within walking distance of the lovely village of Farnsfield. We were pleasantly surprised how much there was to do in the area - we took our young children to Wheelgate Park, which they loved, and rented bikes in Sherwood Forest. There's loads more to do too, and we'll definitely be back.

Guests will be renting the whole house, however it is my home so some storage space is closed off.

There is also a fantastic trail that goes through farnsfield to Southwell. Perfect for either walking or bike rides. White post farm is on the outskirts of the village and a great place to visit with children.

The Cottage offers a light and airy refurbished bedroom with ensuite facilities, a traditional lounge with brick fire place and log burner and a small, well equipped kitchen. There is a small enclosed garden which is south facing.
A welcome basket with tea, coffee, bread, milk and free range eggs. Towels, bed linen and hairdryer. Toiletries to include soap and shower gel. Happy to try and accommodate any other requirements.
Epperstone has some lovely walks and a welcoming, award-winning pub serving good quality food. The most recent addition to the village is Bumbles the teashop offering breakfast, great coffee, freshly baked bread and tempting cakes.
  • We highly recommend Bridget’s place for a stay in the Notts countryside. The cottage is absolutely lovely. Very cosy and comfortable. Little touches like the fresh flowers and info about the village (walks/pub etc) make all the difference. Our dog Bessie loved the garden and was very pleased to meet Digger, Bridget’s pug. Bridget is a great host. Very friendly and welcoming without being imposing. We bumped into her and Digger on Sunday morning and went for a quick ‘turn’ around the fields out back. All in all, a great stay. Cheers Bridget. Julie, Richard and Bessie.

The village is lovely and the food and service at theCross Keys is excellent. Lots of wonderful circular walks in beautiful countryside start and finish in the village. Highly recommended for couples or singles but not for small children due to steep cottage staircase. A lovely cottage holiday experience .

Our hut includes a wood burning fire, fridge, kettle, crockery and utensils. Bed/sofa (double). Bedding and towels are provided plus soap and shampoos. There is a stock of essentials including coffee, tea, sugar, salt n pepper, cereal and milk. You can enjoy the country air and eat outside in the garden of your hut which includes table and chairs, wood store, plus an area to store your bikes. We do offer bike hire for £10 per day (please reserve them when you book) and can provide a yummy welcome pack of local bacon, sausage, milk, bread, and butter for £10 or scones, cream, jam, cheese & bread. • Stayed here before, high standards as usual...

    Robbie2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • Great space and location for a retreat or short stay in the country. Cosy space with great amenities for a very comfortable stay. A real treat!

    Will2020-01-26T00:00:00Z
  • We came here with our 3 dogs for a 1 night stay and absolutely loved it. An idyllic hideaway for us all that felt very private and secluded. It has everything you need, we just brought butter, milk and bread for the morning. If you have dogs make sure to check if it's £10 extra cleaning total or per dog! It was a freezing night when we were there but it was really cosy, except for a cold floor! The log burner wasn't burning when we got there as there was an oil radiator, but we did light it to try and warm the bathroom before showering and it was quick to light and gave out tonnes of heat! There's a stable door so you can look out at the birds in the morning, which we loved. Do keep your dogs on leads at all times though as the little fenced area won't keep them in and there are chickens, dogs and ducks roaming. We're planning to go back and would definitely recommend it.

    Melissa2020-01-19T00:00:00Z
  • Such a great country escape. Cosy, comfortable and relaxing.

    Marianne2019-12-24T00:00:00Z
  • First hut stay, and we loved it. Cosy and warm (thanks to the log burner), private, and very peaceful.

  • This was our first time in a Shepard’s Hut and we loved it. Such a cute space, very clean and super cosy. Suzanne was always quick to respond to my messages, and we felt very at home on the farm. 100% we’ll be back!

    Kelly2019-10-20T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely relaxing place, cosy and really comfy. Will be coming back!

    Jeff2019-10-18T00:00:00Z
  • This place was a perfect little piece of rural heaven with all the facilities to feel as if you’re not “roughing it” too much! The hut was toasty and warm on our arrival - there was lots of local information and advice available and a couple of maps for walks which we followed with the dog! Wellies are a must (especially in this weather) but we brought ours as advised and had a lovely couple of walks around the farm and surrounding areas. Suzanne had thought of everything with biscuits, cereal and fresh local milk - all the little bits you need for a night away. We really found the place to be absolutely perfect, so relaxing and peaceful - also very clean and comfortable! A real escape from the world for a while. We would definitely stay again if we were in the area - such good value for money!

To your right is the main bathroom with its cast iron feature bath and period fittings. • Richie's place is lovely, and was full of fresh flowers when we arrived. It is bigger than the photos suggest, and yet still retains the cosy feel. It is very comfy, quiet and spotlessly clean. The bedroom is upstairs in a loft room, with chic decor and good quality bedding. Tall people should note this does mean low ceilings. The kitchen was well appointed, and we were pleased to find a pint of milk left for us in the fridge - although we took Richie's advice and bought excellent barista made coffee from the Veg Stop which is next door. Check in was really easy, as we picked our keys up from the shop, open until 10pm on Fridays. We highly recommend it and are likely to go back.

  • I’ve never stayed in a shepherd’s hut before so didn’t know quite what to expect. It was really lovely though. Small and cosy and sparkling clean. Well equipped and even outdoor seating and BBQ which were lovely extras. There were lanterns outside which made it look very welcoming. Thank you. We will be back for longer next time - and now we’ve worked out finding the right road in, even better!

  • Fantastic spot and shepherds hut was spotless - a mini Tardis! The doggy blanket box was a nice touch and the horses on the farm were beautiful. A lovely place to chill for the weekend. One tip - as there is a lake back bug spray if staying out in evening :)

The house is period property with some parts dating back to 1820. The house retains its character with many quirky features. We are on the main street next to the market square within 2 minutes walk of the town's pubs, shops, restaurants and the Southwell minster. There is a public car park to the rear of the house.
  • Paul is great host. The place has great character and it’s a very welcoming environment - it’s a homely spot. With Paul’s good communication and descriptions, even tips for the evening this was the perfect stay in Southwell. Highly recommendable!

The room was spacious and comfortable. A decent shower was much appreciated the morning after the wedding I was at. Paul and Barbara made check-in very easy and I wouldn’t hesitate to stay again! Thank you again for the help tracking down my phone charger after too!

A cosy, self contained loft apartment with amazing views across Nottinghamshire countryside. Situated in a private location in the historic grounds of what used to be the National Church School in Blidworth, we are close to Robin Hood's legendary Sherwood Forest and a great base for cyclists and walkers. Ideal for couples or business travellers. Excellent pubs, restaurants & shops within walking distance. Off-road parking for one vehicle, wifi, good transport links to M1 and Nottingham.
Newly decorated and furnished with everything you could need for a comfortable stay! King sized bed and Egyptian cotton bed linen, TV/DVD player, games, a well-equipped kitchen, and those amazing views across fields make this a lovely home-from-home! The Church School was built in 1848 and is now our family home. The newly-built Old School Loft stands on the front of the property, where the older children used to access classrooms before that part of the school was demolished in the late 1960s/early 1970s. We love the history of our house and we're happy to talk about it if you want to know more!
We are located in the historic area of old Blidworth. Blidworth is in the heart of Nottinghamshire, close to Sherwood Forest, and is steeped in history and legend about the infamous Robin Hood & his band of Merry Men - Will Scarlett is allegedly buried in Blidworth churchyard. Easy access to Newstead Abbey, Rufford Abbey, Nottingham Castle & The City of Caves, and many more interesting places to visit!
  • Jane has done wonders with the space. Quality linen, well equipped kitchen and everything you need with a fantastic view. I would just say if you have a mobility issue it won’t be for you due to the stairs to access the property but other than that it’s fabulous.

  • Beautiful annexe with the most comfortable, king sized bed (and my back usually aches in the morning!). Spotlessly clean and well presented with plenty of room for a couple. Well thought out kitchen with everything you could need (we forgot the ketchup- there was some in the kitchen!) Rachel is a wonderful host, let us have an early check in, provided us with local free range eggs from the village for breakfast- we saw the hens wandering about the village! This was our second stay in Rachel's beautiful annexe. Will definitely stay again.

    Alex2020-01-04T00:00:00Z
  • Ideal for our 2 night-stay. Lovely annex to a country house, 1 large bedroom, a shower room with sink & toilet, a very functional kitchen. Every very clean and tidy. It was very easy to communicate with Rachel, and the box of chocolates waiting for us was really thoughtful. We highly recommend, and we will be returning when visiting relatives close to Epperstone.

Make yourself at home and relax in our private cottage with a contemporary designer look & all of your favourite creature comforts. After exploring the town, or putting the world to rights at work, you can wash your cares away in the huge walk-in shower, or maybe you'd prefer a bath, with it's own tv (to catch up on the soaps?). When you're refreshed and ready to head out, the Minster & the town's cafes, restaurants & shops are a few minutes' stroll away, so you can enjoy that well-earned drink!
The cottage has an open-plan ground floor with a large, fully-equiped kitchen, a relaxing lounge area with a sofa bed and armchair and a table for dining or working. The floors are tiled throughout, in keeping with the contemporary styling. A wall-mounted tv and broadband wi-fi service will keep you entertained and let you shop during your down time. There is a dedicated storage space, handily placed just inside the front door, for your luggage. Adjacent to that is a spiral staircase that leads directly into the first floor bedroom, where the king-size bed always looks inviting after a long day. There's plenty of storage in the bedroom and through the door is the magnificent dressing room with walk-in shower, cupboards and ample room to unwind in. If a shower isn't your thing, head through the final doorway to the bathroom, where you can wash 'n' watch, with the tv conveniently placed, well... just above your toes. Careful with that remote now!
On the walk into the town, you'll pass the entrance to Southwell Minster, an impressive cathedral church with Anglo-Saxon origins. The ruins of the Archbishop of York's Palace are alongside the Minster. The nearby Memorial Park honours the fallen of World War 1, as well as hosting the Southwell Scout Group, the Southwell Town Bowls Club, the Southwell Lawn Tennis Club and Southwell City Football Club, which provides football to over 400 local players in 35 teams, aged from 5 years to veteran. Exiting the Minster grounds via Church Street will take you past the Minster Shop & Refectory and into the town centre. There are numerous stopping-off points to eat, including traditional english/fish & chips, Italian, Indian and some delightful Deli's with freshly produced savouries and sweets and drinks, which are dotted amongst a full range of artisan and functional shops. The nearest town is Newark and other attractions in the locality include Southwell Racecourse, Southwell Golf Club, The Workhouse, Kelham Hall & Country Park, Robin Hoods Wheelgate Park, White Post Farm, Newark Castle & Gardens and the National Civil War Centre @Newark Museum. Slightly further afield are the towns of Mansfield and Chesterfield.
  • Larry's place is perfectly situated in Southwell. Only a 10 minute walk into the centre. A very comfortable house with everything you need for a nice weekend.

    Christopher2019-09-29T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great stay at Larry's place. We were worried about check-in because our flight got in late, but Larry made it very easy. The space is clean and stayed cool despite there being a heat wave while we were there.

  • Lovely little house in a small mews, with beautiful bathrooms. Set on the main road, so easy to find and can park the car on the road right outside. No more than a 5 minute walk to Southwell town centre and the public footpath that cuts past the recreation ground and through the historical minster is a stones throw from the house, very convenient.

  • Very well appointed home, everything you could want, lovely and warm, great location. Second time we have stayed here and it was as great as last time. We will be back!

    Anna2019-11-10T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful stay here! The place was clean and very well presented. The beds were comfy and the kitchen was well equipped. Unfortunately some of the pipework leaked behind the shower valve which resulted in 1 or 2 of us not being able to shower but that certainly wasn’t Becky’s fault by any means. Becky was responsive all weekend and was already on the case of the plumbing faults by the time the last of us were leaving and I’m sure this issue will have been rectified prior to whoever visits next. Despite this issue I still rate our stay 5 stars. Highly recommended, would definitely use again in future🙂

  • Great location and pub nearby, within walking distance. Mandy was very accommodating and organised horse trekking through the woods with all the kids. The older kids struggled somewhat with the size of the third bedroom/bunk beds. Felt there perhaps could have been more kitchen utensils to make cooking a little easier but made do. With the lodge being attached to the end of a barn and stables things are a little rustic, do feel the cleanliness left a little to be desired but overall a good stay.

Southwell is arguably the most attractive small market town in Nottinghamshire. With a population of around 7,500, it has an amazing array of historic buildings, cultural events, sporting and leisure activities. The primary attraction is the stunning Southwell Minster, which, although the largest building, does not overpower the town which retains its village atmosphere. The building itself was erected in the 12th century but retains its Norman character. Inside there is a beautiful octagonal Chapter House, with the famous “Leaves of Southwell” carved in the stonework in the13th century. In the Market Place is the historic half-timbered Saracens Head hotel, where Charles I spent his last night of freedom before surrendering to the Scottish Army at Kelham. The National Trust owned ‘Workhouse’ is on the Upton Road. Founded in 1824 by Rev. J T Becher, it was last used to give support to single mothers in the 1980s. 75 Church Street, Southwell is the birthplace of the Bramley Apple, where the first recorded growth was from a pip planted by Mary Ann Brailsford in 1809. The house and garden are owned by Nottingham Trent University’s School of Animal, Rural and Environmental Sciences, which is based at Brackenhurst campus on the outskirts of the town. In King Street and Queen Street there is an array of independent shops, restaurants and pubs. At the northern end of King Street is the Market Square, which hosts a market every Saturday. Further on is the Burgage, where the original Police Station, Court House and site of the old House of Correction can be found, as well as Burgage Manor, which was home to Lord Byron for a time. Southwell has a Racecourse which has frequent meetings throughout the year. Southwell is the hub for a wide variety of events. There is ‘Music in the Minster’ every month, the ‘Family Funday’ and the Folk Festival in June, the Music Festival on August Bank Holiday weekend, the Bramley Festival in October and the popular Lantern Walk in December are a few annual events. Newark-on-Trent A market town that boasts one of the finest Georgian market squares in the UK. With its dramatic castle and two museums, there is lots to see and do in Newark, a town steeped in history. Famed for its role in the English Civil War, one of the town's main historic attractions is Newark Castle. The castle was a Royalist stronghold but its key position on the banks of the River Trent meant that the castle has been severely damaged over the years. In 2015, the National Civil War Centre opened as the UK's only museum dedicated to telling the story of the brutal conflict. You can also take the Nottinghamshire Civil War trail which takes you to the key locations around the town of Newark as well as other sites in Nottinghamshire related to this turbulent chapter in our history. For aviation enthusiasts, Newark Air Museum is a must-see attraction. As well as having a wide range of aeroplanes to see (including a Vulcan, Buccaneer and Hawker), the museum hosts a wide range of events including open cockpit events. Sitting in the grounds of a former farmhouse, you'll also find the National Holocaust Centre and Museum, which used as an educational facility and remembrance centre. Other visitor attractions in our area include, Sherwood Forest, the legendary stomping-ground of Robin Hood, is a 450 acre country park in Nottinghamshire. Managed by an RSPB led consortium in partnership with the County Council, the park is home to the Sherwood Forest National Nature Reserve and is designated a Site of Special Scientific Interest. The forest has 900 veteran oak trees including England's Tree of the Year 2014, The Major Oak. The cathedral city of Lincoln and the Castle town of Nottingham.

  • Lovely location, super easy to check in & get settled. Lots of local info in the folder & great communication from Lindsay. Slightly smaller than we expected (myself, hubby, 4 year old & our lab) but very cosy. Thoughtful touches - fresh milk, tea coffee sugar etc were great. Would highly recommend. Thanks!

  • Didn't get to stay in the end, due to me changing my dates, Lindsay was however, very accommodating in letting me move my stay x2 and then refunding me, when I was unable stay. This was generous of her, so I will definitely stay in the future and thank Lindsay for her flexibility.

  • Lovely glamping pod, some clever use of the space within too. Quick communication and tips about the local area. Was an great stay for us.

  • What a superb stay, made all the better by Lindsay letting us check in a bit early due to our previous nights arrangements and the special touch of a balloon, banner and card for my birthday. POD was lovely and clean, has everything you need there and the town of Southwell is superb especially our two favourite pubs the Final Whistle with it's quirky little interior, we sat in 1st class! AND the The Admiral Rodney with it's roaring open fire and awesome food! We had a carvery on the Sunday and burgers for tea on the Monday, great staff there too. Would definitely recommend a trip to Southwell Retreat and to Southwell. What a lovely little stay for my Birthday!

Wrangler’s Den has been inspired by owners Charlie and Caroline after many years living in the Rocky Mountains. A stay in this cedar cabin offers a taste of a rustic country lifestyle amidst Robin Hood’s Sherwood Forest. Enjoy uninterrupted views over fields and forest, country walks and relaxation next to the log burner. Two bedrooms offer comfortable beds for four guests and the cabin benefits from a fully equipped kitchen.
Guests have sole use of the detached cabin, which includes a wrap around deck and fenced grass paddock for an outdoor BBQ and games.
The property is in a scenic country setting with easy access to the surrounding villages of Farnsfield, Southwell and historic Newark-on-Trent. It borders Sherwood Forest, home of the legendary Robin Hood and Major Oak in Edwinstowe. The area is close to the Dukeries with its historic houses; Rufford Abbey, Clumber Park and Thoresby Hall. From the property easy access can be made to extensive country walks and cycle trails. A map is provided in the Cabin.
  • I lovely place to stay, very friendly and helpful meeting to start with, even though we stayed through storm Dennis the place was so cosy and quiet, we work in the city and it was what we wanted for an ideal break.

    Joseph2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • Great accommodation, log burner is ace, huge comfy bed - a genuine log cabin with everything you need. No Tv was great to have time with my husband.

  • Caroline & Charlie’s cabin is gorgeous - perfect escape for a winter weekend, close to Rufford Abbey, some lovely pubs and cafes to let you have a gorgeous get away. The cabin gives you the opportunity to really unwind with the gorgeous stove fire. Breakfast was also provided which was a great added touch and their daughter was really helpful and friendly upon arrival. All in all was a great trip and I’m sure I’ll be coming back!

    Abbi2019-11-17T00:00:00Z
  • Just back from a fabulous stay at the cabin which was immaculate the photos do not do it justice. Caroline has been helpful from the start answering all our questions and helping with any issues when booking. Beds were so comfy, Can’t wait to come back! Thank you x

    Hayley2019-11-10T00:00:00Z
  • Caroline and Charlie's place is simply stunning. A peaceful retreat to escape everyday life. Caroline is an amazing host who can not do enough to help, nothing is too much trouble. There are so many attractions to visit close by. We would highly recommend and thank Caroline and Charlie for the opportunity to stay at Wranglers Den.

    Tina2019-11-03T00:00:00Z
  • Wrangler's Den is a lovely little cosy cabin, just as described in the listing. Right on the doorstep of Sherwood Forest, complete with a very toasty little wood burning fireplace and lovely touches like all the essentials to make a nice breakfast in the morning. I would highly recommend it for a little retreat from modern life (a break from Wi-Fi and TVs are no bad thing!). Would definitely stay here again!

    Nicole2019-10-29T00:00:00Z
  • The wranglers den is simply gorgeous. Communication was great from booking to checking out. Ian kept in contact during our arrival day and was there to meet us with a roaring fire going! The den was very clean and comfortable - we loved how dark and cosy it was. Thank you for a great stay. We hope to visit again soon!

    Jessica2019-10-26T00:00:00Z
  • Can't recommend the cabin enough. Communication with Ian was extremely easy and he always responded very promptly to messages. He was waiting to check us in, was very friendly and made sure we had everything we needed. The cabin itself was super cosy and had a lovely fire. The location is excellent - we walked into the forest straight from the cabin. Shops and pubs also very close by. A perfect getaway to recharge your batteries!

Gorgeous family home in the delightful Minster town of Southwell. A very cute small town with cafes, shops, pubs, restaurants and bags of history. There’s a leisure centre with pool, fabulous walks to be had and many walkable attractions. Southwell is just 15 miles from Nottingham, close to the Derbyshire Peaks and nestled in beautiful English countryside.
A wonderful extended cottage, dating from the mid to late 1800s. It’s a lovely mix of traditional and modern, with old oak beams, pine floor boards contrasting with a modern kitchen with bi-fold doors. There are 3 double bedrooms (one with an en suite shower room) plus a single / twin room. An office is now a small games room with a Wii. The lounge has TV with Netflix, Amazon Prime, iPlayer. Luxury bathroom with rain shower and gorgeous bath. You’ll be sure to love the house and the area.
Southwell is an affluent small town thanks to tourism and regional visitors. The Minster is a fabulous building and draws a large number of people. The town has many independent retailers, coffee shops, restaurants and pubs. Throughout the year there are various organised events from the Bramley Apple Festival, the Southwell Gate Folk Festival and the Southwell Classical Music Festival. Book early for these periods.

  • The instructions for check in were perfect. We found the location easily and had very good communication from Steve throughout. The seating area was a good size and the caravan warmed up very quickly. We used the wash block for showers and this provided hot water and good facilities! The setting was very tranquil and we would come back in the summer Months to enjoy the outside space

  • Great little lodge, (actually not that little). All basic facilities provided and beautiful surroundings. Portable heaters adequate for late October. Would stay again

    Derek2019-11-02T00:00:00Z
  • The location is stunning and the caravan space larger than I expected. The lounge could comfortably seat over 10 people and has beautiful views from all windows surrounded by trees with one side getting a glimpse of the lake. On the first night we enjoyed cooking our own dinner and watching a bit of TV on the well sized TV. The next day, we spend exploring nearby Sherwood Forest (only 18 mins drive) and had a lovely pub dinner at The Admiral Rodney (only a few minutes drive away from the caravan). At night it got a bit nippy and we used the electric radiators for a few hours. It's ideal for the summer. For colder seasons be prepared to layer up. We would certainly love to come back.

  • Louise's place is a great stop for local sherwood forest, really nice property that has been finished to a very high standard, and only walking distance from a very lovely pub nearby! Thank you for having us.

    Clifton2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • Wow, what a fantastic find! From the moment Louise greeted us to posting the keys back through the door as we left - we enjoyed every moment of it. The house is lovely, comfortable but stylish, immaculately clean (the glassware, crockery and cutlery sparkle). They have thought of everything and more besides. I would be amazed if anyone discovered something lacking (we’d taken steak knives but there were even a set of those in the drawer). The beds are comfy, the bathrooms luxurious and spotless clean. The location is great - and within walking distance of a few pubs although we only visited 2 (The Black Bull was our favourite, great setting and lovely staff). I couldn’t recommend it enough; we’ll certainly be back.

    Nicola2020-01-02T00:00:00Z
  • Wonderful cottage, Louise has thought of everything possible to make your stay very comfortable. Excellent bathrooms with luxury towels and robes. Both bedrooms are ensuite. Even a downstairs cloakroom for added convenience. Kitchen excellent even a coffee machine. Plenty of space but a cosy feel at the same time. The Black Bull pub is only a few minutes walk away too. Outstanding place very clean Louise also greets you at the property. We will definitely stay again.

A basic but cosy annex in a quiet setting with WiFi access and a welcoming atmosphere. The accommodation is ideally suited to one or two people, however an additional child / adult can be accommodated on the double sofa bed in the living area. On sunny days you are welcome to use the outside seating on the small patio. We are 5 minutes walk from The Old Vicarage and 20 minutes from the Minster and town. The racecourse is a 10 minute drive away.
Izzy’s annex comprises a double bedroom with ample wardrobe space, a small toilet and shower room, a kitchen area with fridge, oven and microwave and a small lounge containing a double sofa bed. There is a little terrace to the side with a bench and table. The space is compact but hopefully contains all the essentials for a pleasant stay.
Only a couple of minutes walk from The Vicarage, this annex is the perfect spot to stay as wedding guests. The town centre is close by too, with parks and pubs for everyone to enjoy! We are a little out of the town centre but it is only a 20 minute walk to get there. The annex is a quiet spot and, though basic, has everything you need for a comfortable stay.
  • Perfect spot for our overnight stay in Southwell - good communication from host so we found the annex easily - adequate parking - central to the town - friendly, relaxed host who made us feel very comfortable - annex had a lot more amenities than expected Will stay again if in the area

The house is period property with some parts dating back to 1820. The house retains its character with many quirky features. We are on the main street next to the market square within 2 minutes walk of the town's pubs, shops, restaurants and the Southwell minster. There is a public car park to the rear of the house.
This listing is for a private twin room

  • Much better than some reviewers have noted. It is an older house and it’s got some rustic touches... I plan to return. Great location and very easy amenities close by make this a must if your visiting this town!

  • The house is a lovely period property and with it being situated in the heart of the village there is always lots to do. There are also good transport links to both Newark and Nottingham. The house itself is a very homely, comfortable and clean space. Contact with the owner was of a great standard. Fully recommend this property if you're looking to stay in Southwell.

We have open fields to play in and you can walk or cycle any where on the farm and we also join to foot paths and a good cycle route. We have lovely horses to look at too if you’d like to. We have a big social room with a large TV and games in it and it’s always open with FREE WIFI. Free pony pampering sessions and a child’s play area.
We are within 1 mile of 6 nice pub restaurants and fantastic woods to walk or cycle in and we have Newstead Abbey which is lovely and then very close to us we have Wheelgates Children’s Adventure and White Post Farm Park, Clumber Park and Rufford Park, Sherwood Forest, Go Ape and go karting, golf, swimming, off road buggy rides.
  • A fantastic and very relaxing stay. The accommodation is perfect. Small touches such as usb sockets in friar tucks cabin were really useful. Very comfortable and centrally heated which was handy as the evenings were a bit chilly in early May. The host was warm and welcoming with lots of helpful advice to make the stay extra enjoyable. There is a handy play area outside with a couple of goals (ideal for the young football enthusiast) and an indoor pool table. It was lovely to walk around the farm; groom the horses and see the lambs. Handy tip - if you would like a riding lesson worth contacting the host in advance so it’s all organised ahead of time. There are some nice pubs in the area if you don’t fancy cooking. Everything in the lodge is provided that you need to enjoy your stay (except food 😀) including toilet rolls and towels. If you end up staying here we hope you have as an enjoyable time as well did. I’m sure we will go back again.
