Places to stay in Farmington
Our secluded cabin sits on the edge of timber overlooking the Des Moines River!
Cozy up in front of the indoor wood stove during those cold winter months, or enjoy the cool breeze off the river on the warmer days!
There are 2 properties located at the end of this private driveway. There is plenty of distance between the properties to enjoy a quiet getaway!
  • Fantastic get-away! Beautiful, close to the state park, fully-equipped! My children and I loved it!

  • A great cabin by a quiet river! Very comfortable and clean. Loved the fireplace on the cool nights. Brianna was very responsive to any questions or concerns I had. Would stay there again for sure!

    Len2020-03-11T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great time! The cabin was very cozy and the view of the river was nice. Brianna was an excellent host!

  • Amazing! Excellent Everything! An exceptional little getaway gem. All of the cabin reviews were spot on. 6 out of 5 stars! Everything was above and beyond. Definitely hope to book a future retreat here. Enjoy!

    Esther2020-03-05T00:00:00Z
  • Brianna's place was great! Far enough outside of town that we had plenty of space to ourselves, but close enough that we had no trouble getting food or groceries. The cabin itself was lovely and very cozy, I would absolutely recommend it!

  • Other reviewers were spot-on when describing the picturesque nature of this property. The owners were thoughtful with the touches they put throughout the property. The memory foam bed was much more comfortable than we expected. In the bedroom, it is also equipped with abundant hooks to hang clothes, a side table that fits near the foot of the bed, a fan tower that can be used as white noise, two windows, it's own temperature-controlled electric radiant heat, and an outlet near the head of the bed, which is useful for those who use a CPAP machine. The baseboard heat is nice as it is non-drying, quickly heats the space, and is incredibly comfortable. If you want to stay indoors, there are a few games above the refrigerator, multiple DVDs, and plenty of channels to choose from. The large windows allow for fantastic birdwatching from indoors. The flowing river's ripples were rather peaceful to watch. Ducks and geese were common sights to see floating by. The parking is at the base of a hill. You will need to walk across a sturdy bridge and up a hill. If it has been raining, the wood can get slippery, and you might need to step in mud. If there is freezing rain, the steps can ice up, so be very careful. As of this writing there was not a handrail up the hill. My main suggestion is for the owners to have a handrail installed on one side of this hill. Last, the owners were wonderful. They have kept a nice cabin, were very easy to reach, and very responsive. We will definitely consider coming back. Thank you!

  • Incredible and truly one of a kind!

  • This cabin is perfect in many ways - location, size, views, privacy, amenities etc. We knew we wanted a cabin feel but didn't know if/ what our options would be here in Iowa. We were lucky enough to come across this cabin. It wasn't a long drive from where we live, its in a town full of history and things to do and have I mentioned the fact that its right on the DSM river?! It is tucked away just outside of town with its own privacy, fire pit, front deck and wood stove. They say that they try to provide fire wood.. if you plan to stay in the winter and have access to bring your own I would just in case. We did and were glad we did. We know how much work splitting wood and hauling it can be especially in the winter so if its not there when you get there you only have yourself to blame.... They were very responsive and polite! We can't wait to go back in the summer, utilize the outdoor area and hit the trails at the near by state park!

Come relax and enjoy Porch Time under a canopy of trees. Play the baby grand if you like, spend time reading in front of the fireplace or in one of our four lovely bedrooms, and enjoy a delicious, home-cooked breakfast. We welcome you!
We are just two blocks from the beautiful Des Moines River (three from the landing), making this ideal lodging for those paddling downriver, exploring Van Buren County, or visiting family nearby. A grocery store, post office, restaurant, and other amenities are all within three blocks of our Arts and Crafts style home that offers four well-appointed, lovely rooms for our guests.
We love it that our B & B is only two blocks from the Des Moines River and that Farmington is part of the Mormon Trail. Just across the river is Indian Lake Park, 166 gorgeous acres filled with wildlife. Indian Lake itself, the 44-acre crown jewel of the park, offers swimming, fishing, canoes for rent, and a nature trail for hiking around its perimeter. Farmington also has a beautiful extended riverfront park with benches and a picnic shelter, and is adjacent to Shimek State Forest (8,000+ acres).
  • Great place to stay, clean and cozy. Breakfast was awesome!!! There is a lot to do in the area so will plan to come back and maybe hit the state park (state parks are free in Iowa)

  • Porch Time B&B is welcoming, sort of rustic, and sparkling clean. The literal porch is very comfortable for long talks or soaking up the small town atmosphere. I enjoyed having the option of air conditioning or open windows (my favorite), and slept well. The breakfasts were rich and satisfying. Elizabeth and David have a gem of a place in Farmington, and can recommend lots of local attractions if you have time to visit the surrounding area.

    Ilene2019-09-15T00:00:00Z
  • A wonderful get away for the two of us. Our bedroom was well appointed with chairs and a super comfy bed. Plenty of clean towels and the shared bath has a great tub/shower combination. We enjoyed spending time with Elizabeth in the afternoon on the front porch and shared stories of our lives. Elizabeth is a wonderful hostess at their lovely BnB. Delicious breakfast and thoughtful touches like ice water in the hallway at night and coffee in the morning. An older home with character and classic beauty.

    Kathy2019-07-27T00:00:00Z
  • Very nice old house in a super quiet neighborhood. Elizabeth goes out of her way to make you feel at home. The porch is very nice, but a heat wave precluded us getting to use it.

    Steve2019-07-20T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great time staying with Elizabeth. She has a beautiful home and a fabulous porch. She is very knowledgeable about the area and gave us many tips on where to go eat and things to do. We will definitely stay again if we are going to the area.

    Cindy2019-06-09T00:00:00Z
  • Elizabeth and Dave provide a traditional BnB with personal service in their home, hot coffee always ready, charming antique furniture, hot breakfast, in a cozy 1920's craft's style house.

    John2018-10-21T00:00:00Z
  • Comfortable and welcoming. Clean room and nice people.

  • Kellie’s place was awesome. Beautiful brand new covered porch that overlooked the serene Des Moines river. The loft was great for my kids and the double bed in the master bedroom (albeit small) was soooo comfortable. Kellie was the best AirBnb host we’ve ever had! So understanding and such great local tips. We would absolutely stay here again. Thank you Kellie!

  • Very cute, quiet, homey get away cabin by the river. Loved it there! Bed downstairs is the most comfortable. Definitely adhere to the recommendations about using the fan. Beautiful view daytime & night! Would definitely choose to stay here again. Easy to work with host

  • Cozy cabin with great view of the Des Moines river. Small cabin, but great use of space makes it seem much larger. Mattresses were super comfortable, modern memory foam. Outdoor porch overlooking the river begs for an evening with friends.

    Jim2019-11-30T00:00:00Z
  • We had a relaxing time hanging out and enjoying this wonderful cabin. The rain on the tin roof was so refreshing and relaxing, too. Our Maltese and Goldendoodle also enjoyed the property and their time with us, making the cabin extra cozy. Perhaps the best part though was a friendly visit from Kellie, just to make sure we were settled in, and to make sure we knew she was available for anything we needed. Kellie was so authentic and real. And she treated us more as friends, rather than guests. We can't recommend highly enough!

    Jodie2019-11-28T00:00:00Z
  • Great little cabin right on the river. Make sure you have Coffee on the porch in the morning. Was a great little getaway!!

  • This place is a cozy space in the basement separated from the rest of the house with its own entrance. It's been a good size for me while I stay in Nauvoo for work. Great value for long stays!

  • Barbara was a fantastic host, and made sure my stay was perfect. Quaint little place, nice and clean, and very affordable!

  • Views of the Nauvoo Temple out the back door. Walking distance to everything. Dan and Barbara are perfect hosts. So grateful for the availability of reasonable accommodations in historic Nauvoo, with such a nice touch of home in everything. We'd pursue staying longer if they weren't already booked solid.

  • Little Cedar Lodge is a fantastic little place if you're looking for a cabin getaway from the everyday challenges of work and life in general. My wife and I spent a couple of nights as a weekend getaway for her birthday and absolutely loved it! It is hidden in the small unincorporated town of Mt Sterling, IA. So it's somewhat off the Grid which is exactly what we were looking for. The cabin has all the amenities you could want, and is very warm, cozy, and inviting. We enjoyed watching scary movies next to the warm electric fireplace on the comfortable furniture in particular. The hosts were also very helpful and provided us with a lot of information about the surrounding area and we were able to get out for some delicious local food because of it. We also loved that cedar wood smell the minute you walk into the door. All in all a great little place to stay in the very quiet little village that is Mt Sterling.

The kitchen is well stocked to cook pretty much anything you would want. There are a lot of neighboring dogs that welcome you to the property as well, so be prepared for that if you are allergic or have small children. We had a wonderful stay here:)

  • We enjoyed our stay here. The suite was quite spacious, extremely clean and quaint. I love the beautiful quilts. Great main street location, close to everything. The views are great, and we absolutely loved it, and loved the price! We will keep this place in mind for future gatherings in Nauvoo. Alberta would be a great place for a smaller family or Grandparents, and the neighboring Canada would be great for a family with several kids. With that in mind, you would need to be okay with and used to the sounds of family nextdoor. Both suites open up to a nice sunroom gathering spot.

  • Was a great place to get away with my friends for the weekend. We all had a great time, and the house was much bigger than we thought it would be. There was a bit of a bug problem, but we expected it to be because no one probably stayed in there for a while.

    Kaiden2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • We looked at Nauvoo thinking we wanted to stay right in the city to get the full experience. Well, the city is quite dead at night, and this place was a fabulous enhancement to our stay. With views of the Mississippi but a secluded, forest-like cabin setting, it was great for our kids. Notwithstanding its rustic location, the inside was refined, well appointed with updated touches, and simply beautiful. Very clean. I highly recommend this to people/families looking to come to Nauvoo.

    Andrew2019-10-05T00:00:00Z
  • We loved this beautiful and unique property. The back yard was the ultimate with tall trees and a river view. The kitchen was gorgeous. Perfectly clean and modern.

    Delgermaa2019-06-09T00:00:00Z
  • An outstanding property! Definitely the nicest in the area with a gorgeous overlook of the Mississippi River. There was ample room for our family of 6 plus my mother in law for our Nauvoo trip. The kitchen is well equipped, the Living Room is large, & unlike most of the houses in the area, there’s a good amount of space for the kids to run around. The swings overlooking the river were a nice addition. The A/C worked great & cooled well on those hot days. The house itself is up a semi-steep gravel road. We didn’t have any trouble getting to it with our SUV. A small car would have more trouble but still doable. Because of its height, this property itself would never get flooded. However, part of the road between Nauvoo & this property had the river rise up & over it during our stay. It’s the highest they’ve seen the flooded river in a decade & there is a longer back way around to the city we could take so it wasn’t a big deal. Actually having a 2-3 mile stretch where we drove right by the river to get home was very scenic. Overall an outstanding place perfect for our needs.

    Mike2019-06-01T00:00:00Z
  • It's a beautiful house in a gorgeous location surrounded by a beautiful garden and woods! We felt so comfortable as soon as we walked in. The kitchen was well-stocked with enough items to cook meals with. "Luxurious" is not a misnomer for this house! I had forgotten that Carole had given me her phone number. It takes longer to communicate through the app, but she replied fairly quickly through her direct phone. There are the quaintest houses on the same road, so it was fun to drive past them on our way back and forth from Nauvoo. The location is closer to the historic parts of Nauvoo than I expected. Unless you don't have a car, it's only about 5 minutes to the one end of Main Street. As a bonus- this house is located across the street from the Nauvoo Mounds Cemetary! It's an exciting introduction into the ancient history of the USA that most Americans don't know about.

  • Staying at the White House was one of the best decisions we made on this trip. From our first communication all the way to the end of our 5 night stay, Wayne was there to make our stay as comfortable and enjoyable as possible. He had the hot tub and barbecue grill all ready to go when we got there. There were farm fresh eggs for us in the kitchen. The beds and pillows were just right. Entrance was simple and secure with a code. The location is central to everything. Wayne made great suggestions about places to eat and things to do and see. We attribute the quality and success of our trip to Nauvoo, in large part, to having had Wayne as our host at the White House and the terrific accommodations he offers. Will definitely recommend this place to friends and family!

    Marti2019-10-22T00:00:00Z
  • Wayne's place is a charming old home. Our room was comfortable, nicely appointed and super clean. The kitchen was well stocked. Although it was too cold to be outside, the back area is really inviting.

    Laura2019-10-16T00:00:00Z
  • Wayne was a friendly, attentive, considerate host. The White House is located in a great location if you want to explore Nauvoo. It was a comfortable home and an enjoyable place to stay.

The Browning Suite has two queen beds, two full-size beds and a private bath with shower/tub. The White House Inn is a lovely home built in the 1850s, recently updated. Centrally located in Nauvoo town center, within walking distance of all venues. The Inn has three suites with private, full bathrooms, (extra bedroom is available). The main floor has full kitchen with breakfast pancake fixings on hand. Guests share the kitchen facilities, and patio hot tub, umbrella table, gas BBQ & fire pit.
Your room is spacious and includes WiFi, Cable TV, alarm clock radio, iron and ironing board are available, a full-size bathroom with combined tub and shower, and if needed, extra towels can be requested during your stay. We suggest the Webb Suite, which is immediately next door, for an extra bed if needed. Charging outlets are available.

And just down the hill are tours of Latter-day Saint pioneer homes and businesses, carefully restored.
  • A delightful place to stay, with spacious accommodations and quaint decor that adds to the historic feeling of Nauvoo. You will not be disappointed!

  • We had a great stay at The White House Inn. The location is excellent for touring Nauvoo. Wayne’s instructions were perfect and we didn’t have any problems. One of the little things that was a huge help was having a water filter pitcher in the fridge. It seems like a little thing, but it was so nice not worrying about bottled water. Maybe I’m picky about water but some places it can be hard to drink the local water if you aren’t accustomed to it. Overall, a great, easy stay.

    Janelle2019-11-24T00:00:00Z
  • A nice and clean place to stay. The host was very responsive to any questions we had. Plus it was a nice touch when we notified him we were arriving late that he left the porch lights on for us. Appreciated the pancake mix and breakfast too. The next time we need a place to stay in Nauvoo we'll definitely stay here!

    Chad2019-11-10T00:00:00Z
  • The White House was perfect for our large family gathering. We appreciated Wayne’s thoughtful hospitality.

    Luci2019-11-05T00:00:00Z
  • This was a great little place very close to the Nauvoo Temple and sites. We had a fantastic stay with plenty of room for our family of 8 (in the Browning suite). It's a charming old place, but clean and nice. We will definitely stay there again if we come through the area again.

    Sean2019-10-11T00:00:00Z
  • We loved our visit here! We were in the Browning suite and it was very clean and comfortable with more than enough room. It was wonderful to meet other people staying here in the common kitchen area. Charming little home ! We would stay here again!

  • Jordan’s place is outstanding. Cause it has a ton of space sleeps so many people at one of the best prices in town. It’s clean and comfortable, with nice updated bathrooms. Walking distance to the temple, historic sites and restaurants. Great value.

  • The Red Front Suite was perfect for our trip to visit family in the area and for our children and grandchildren to all stay together. It is located in the hub of Nauvoo and you can park on the street right outside the door. The rooms are good-sized and the beds are very comfortable. The bathrooms have been renovated and are nicely decorated. We had one small problem with the batteries in the thermostat and Jordan answered us promptly and came right over and took care of it. We would like to come back in nicer weather to walk around and enjoy the town.

    Becky2020-01-19T00:00:00Z

AMISH Country. Escape to Van Buren County in SE Iowa where history is rich, the people friendly and the country beautiful. Stay in this pioneer country church built in 1860 within walking distance to a 1700 acre state park on the Mormon trail.
Inspiration. As an artist I feel that this location is tranquil and spiritual - that of a place built with love and care. You can feel it during the quiet times. In addition to the good vibes it is also an excellent starting place for day trips or to break away and enjoy nature and history. Visit quaint neighboring villages in the SE Iowa nestled in green hills against the Des Moines River - don't miss local villages Bonaparte and Bentonsport and take day trips to the Amish Market, Fairfield/Vedic City home of the Raj Spa and Maharishi meditation center, the American Gothic house in Eldon, the Amana historic colony north, Kaloma village, or the Nauvoo Living History center east to the Illinois/Iowa state line. Experience a unique Mississippi River city lifestyle and food at Burlington an hour away, or Mark Twain's Hannibal, MO. Within view is the entrance to Keosauqua's Lacey State Park, an impeccably beautiful 1700 acres on the Des Moines River; and minutes from Lake Sugema where you can fish and horseback ride.
Rural area - country homes - private but neighbors nearby; walking / biking distance to town.
  • Loved our stay at Marianne's comfy cozy restored 1860's church! I never tired looking at all her treasures - she has fantastic taste. In addition to the asthetics, everything is very comfortable and all things you would expect in an Airbnb are well stocked. If I ever have occassion to be in this sweet little river town again I will most assuredly stay at Marianne's place. Word to the wise - try to arrive during daylight hours. It is ridiculously easy to find during the day but a bit tricky in the dark.

    Sarah2019-10-13T00:00:00Z
  • Marianne's Historic Pioneer Church home is an absolute delight....from the very old and uneven wood floors to the high ceilings and old windows, we felt comfortable at the very beginning. The kitchen, great room and bathroom are very spacious and allowed us all the accommodations of home. The only thing I was worried about was the bed, we all know how difficult it is to sleep in a different bed but this one was amazing, we had no trouble falling asleep and staying asleep it was so comfortable. We would definitely recommend Marianne's to anyone looking for a little get away.

    Mark2019-09-15T00:00:00Z
  • The home is everything it is described to be. People in the community are very friendly. We enjoyed the home cooked meals at the local restaurants but there is an adequate kitchen in the home. We enjoyed the "Tour of Barns" and the fall festivities in the surrounding villages.

    Pamela2018-10-14T00:00:00Z
  • Charming place with artistic touches everywhere. Kitchen was well stocked with everything you'd need to make a meal (we didn't, but I was impressed with the inventory of cookware and such). Even though it is an old church building, the place was extremely clean and well-cared for. There is a gas fireplace in the living room and lots of great books that made for cozy evenings. We felt right at home and would stay again if we are ever in Keo in the future! My favorite little touch: the label on the bedroom door frame that read, "Naps and such" (many doors and cupboards were smartly labeled, but I found that one especially lovely). Marianne was a great host, as well. Easy to communicate with and very helpful.

    Jen2018-10-07T00:00:00Z
  • This is definitely a pioneer house with uneven floors, traffic noise and no air conditioning (plenty of fans). We enjoyed the decorating style Marianne used with antiques and artwork. The furniture was comfortable, and the facilities were fine for a couple. We used this central location to explore all of Van Buren County. We would recommend this home for moderate temperature stays.

    Dennis2018-09-04T00:00:00Z
  • This is the perfect retreat for a couple's weekend getaway. Marianne was wonderful! The history of the house and surrounding towns will always leave you wanting more.

    Angie2017-07-04T00:00:00Z
  • We so enjoyed our anniversary stay at Marianne's home. We were pleasantly surprised by all there was to do to around the villages of Van Buren. The house was located within walking distance of town, along a pretty path crossing the river. We were looking for a quiet, quaint getaway and we found it. The nearby State park was one of the better we have been to also. We appreciated our quiet time away.

  • This place is great! Keosauqua is so fun for kids, and this location can't be beat. I especially liked that it was not directly on the lake so I didn't have to worry about my kids playing outside, but it was so close to the lake that we walked over there every day. What a fun place which we will be sure to return to in the future!

The Methodist Church Retreat is nestled in the Des Moines River Valley in Van Buren County, IA., in a small town called Bentonsport. The Church was built in 1857 and served its congregation until 1988. It then became a private home. Shortly thereafter it became a rental property for those wanting to visit historic Van Buren County. Room. Visitors that stay at the Church definitely enjoy the comforts of a true home-away from home.
The Methodist Church is a comfortable home-away-from-home. The residence is in a semi-secluded area and is a beautiful, serene, and spacious rental that can comfortably sleep 11 people. There is plenty of floor space for airbeds which we will supply if needed. It has sleeping space for eleven people, a full kitchen, dining area, TV area, and two full bathrooms. The Church is perfect for family getaways, business retreats, receptions, family reunions, ladies' or men's outings, honeymoons, and much more.
Van Buren County is not only rich in beauty, but also in history. Towns are within short distances of each other. Bentonsport has several shops with food, antiques, and gifts. It has a formal rose garden growing within the walls of an old mill. It has the oldest truss bridge this side of the Mississippi. It was built for horse drawn carriages and wagons. It became a bridge for motorized vehicles and is now a foot bridge over the Des Moines River. Within a 6 mile drive are several dining places and also more shops. During winter, local businesses are closed, but there is still plenty to see and do in the area, if you want to be entertained.
  • very nice house, very comfortable beds and all the other furniture is fabulous! well supplied kitchen and the hosts are very helpful if you need anything at all! they live across the street so were able to be there easily if we needed anything! two sleeping areas, one has several single beds in the loft area with the big bed so would work good for families as well!

  • Great place, was there or a weekend. Place was very interesting. Great small Iowa town. Had a group of kids stay over 2 nights there and learn about Folk America

  • My whole family loved this place. If you are having any type of family get together this is a great place to do it. My sister was getting married at the lake about 8 miles away and this home allowed us to stage family and friends while waiting. It has a big backyard for kids to entertain themselves and would make a great spot for a game of croquette or volleyball. The house is large enough for a lot of people but also feels quite comfy for just 2. They have plenty of towels and bedding and even have coffee already in the cupboard. If you are wanting to enjoy the quaintness that rural Iowa offers, this is your place! We will definitely keep the church retreat on our list! Thanks

    Lora2017-08-27T00:00:00Z
  • Great host and great people :)! Had a great time around the area, would recommend for a visit to get away from the city life and visit a very interesting part of the country!

  • How many people can say they vacationed in a church? Very comfortable and well-done conversion of the church, hold 2-10 comfortably. Makes a great home base for exploring the Villiages of VanBuren. Sandi and Keith are fine hosts for you get-away. Make sure to eat at the old grist mill in Boneapart - excellent dining.

The only B&B and place to stay in the 'flats' of old Nauvoo. Across the street from the Pageant, and just a block from historic old town. The Temple is in view from the house and just up the hill. No better place to experience the feeling and serenity of Nauvoo where Willard Richards lived.
What was once originally Willard Richards Home and then later expanded by the Reimbold family in the 1860s, this unique mansion of the day provides the space and serenity like no other place. Away from the bustle of the upper town and situated a block from the historic sites. Your visit will be rejuvenating and memorable.
You are in the historic district. Leave your car parked at the Inn and walk down the street to the sites!

  • This is a light-filled, thoughtfully decorated space with a very comfortable bed and well-appointed kitchen. In addition, it is very clean. Every care has obviously been taken to provide an enjoyable stay for guests. As the listing mentions, you need to climb quite a few steps to access the apartment which might be an issue if you have problems navigating stairs. Regardless, it is a restful, lovely place to stay next to shops and just a couple of blocks to the Nauvoo Temple. We recommend it highly.

  • This is a nice, clean and stylish place to relax in. We loved the location right in central Nauvoo. The wall unit AC in the master bedroom cooled fine but would sometimes turn to fan only and we had to unplug it and plug back in daily to get it to cool again. I would definitely book her again.

  • This place was perfect for what we needed! We enjoyed staying here!

  • Amazing location, beautiful apartment, and excellent communication from the host. It made our trip so comfortable!

  • We loved staying in this apartment above Havenlight Gallery. The apartment is decorated beautifully with paintings/prints of the prophet Joseph Smith and other church LDS church history memories. It was the perfect touch, especially for our family who came to spend some time in a significant place where history was made. We had 7 people in the apartment, with plenty of bed space, when utilizing the air mattress. We were able to find everything we needed dish wise to make the simple meals we had. The location in Nauvoo is perfect for going back and forth between sites. If you plan on making meals, stop at a grocery store outside of Nauvoo, as there are very limited items available, and very limited eating establishments. We would highly recommend staying in this beautiful apartment.

  • The host was very helpful and responsive. There was a mix up, so they actually upgraded us to a nicer home and it was great. Its location is wonderful and an easy walk to the Nauvoo temple and the shops on the main road. There aren't many options for staying close to historic Nauvoo, so this place, relative to other places in Nauvoo, was nice, spacious, and perfect for our family of 6. Some remodeling and touch ups would make this place dynamite, but again, it was a great place and we'd stay there again with no hesitation.

Location, location, location! You can't stay closer to the Nauvoo Temple than the Hart House, across the street from the temple! This location has an unobstructed view of the temple, in addition to a panoramic view of the Mississippi River.
The Hart House is a finely constructed home with beautiful oak woodwork, hardwood floors, French doors with original glass, and had been well maintained. The home has a large front porch for visiting and enjoying the view of the temple and Mississippi River. The large living room has a sofa and love seat, a fireplace and entertainment center. Through double French doors the large dining room seats 8 for dinner and has beautiful oak window seats in the bay window featuring a view of the Mississippi River. Through another set of double French doors you are in the library with over a hundred books about LDS church history and Nauvoo. The kitchen has retained its original pine cabinetry, but added modern appliances for convenience. It has most of the utensils and kitchen supplies a family would need while staying in Nauvoo. Off the kitchen is a sun porch with a table for four, offering a view of the garden in the back. Also located on the main floor is a half bath for the convenience of guests. There is a beautiful oak stairway from the living room, and a "servant's" stairway from the kitchen to the upstairs bedrooms. The two large bedrooms at the back of the home feature queen size beds and walk-in closets. The large master bedroom with a beautiful view of the temple, features a king size bed, walk-in closet, attached half bath, and a TV. The upstairs hall bathroom has a vanity, toilet and shower. The basement has been completely remodeled with a family room featuring a queen size sofa sleeper, rocker-recliner, entertainment center with 31" TV, VCR, DVD, CD and Surround Sound. There are video cassettes and DVDs about Nauvoo and Carthage available to view. High speed internet is also available in the home. The full bathroom includes a Jacuzi whirlpool tub and separate shower. Also available for guest's use is a washer and dryer. The Tom Sawyer-Huck Finn bedroom is off the family room and has twin bunk beds. The Hart House, with its beautiful Nauvoo art, comfortable furnishings, and fantastic location will make your visit to Nauvoo a memorable stay!
There is no better location in Nauvoo for access to the shops, the temple, the Stake Center, the Pageant stage and the restored historical homes and buildings!
  • This location is UNREAL. The Temple was our night light through the window; It is worth every penny to be this close. You walk on the porch with a view directly of it. It is walking distance to sites, downtown and the Visitors center which was helpful in our stay. The linens and towels were fresh and good quality. The beds were comfortable. This is an old home but still has class and charm that you feel comfortable and clean. Sam is great to work with. We'd love to stay here again when we come back to town.

  • Charming stay in a clean, convenient, well kept B&B. Lovely breakfast, friendly staff. Thank you!

  • The Willard Richards Inn is simply the best place to stay in Nauvoo. It's within walking distance of the historic district. Diana the Innkeeper is such a superb cook, and such a very gracious host. Highly recommended!
