A beautiful queen bedroom with TV is available for like-minded travellers. The room is in my home so guests will have to share my bathroom (with claw foot bath), dining room and kitchen facilities (which can be used to make food). Parking is right at the front door, it is a 20 mins drive to the Grampians National Park and a 2 mins walk to the town centre. I also have two single beds in a separate bedroom (without TV) if there are four of you, you have a young family or you prefer single beds.
My home is situated in the best street in town. Skene Street has a number of houses like mine built in the late 19th or early 20th century which are listed as historically and architecturally significant at a Local level in the Victorian Heritage Database.
My home is in walking distance to shops, eating places and Central Park, the home of the Stawell Gift.

The Shack is an owner-built, self-contained rural retreat – rustic and homely. Situated on private property on the Wimmera River, only 5 minutes from Horsham, this 2-bedroomed cottage offers panoramic views of farm paddocks, dams, gum trees and the Grampians.
  • Loved our stay at The Shack. It was clean, rustic, comfy and serene. We did a stunning walk following the river that curls around the property - so many magnificent gnarly old gum trees. Loved hearing all the kookaburras and magpies from The Shack and eating our brekkie on the cute front veranda. Thanks, Buffy, for the eggs and milk, and for having us to stay. Would definitely return.

    Joanne2020-03-06T00:00:00Z
  • Thoroughly enjoyed the stay at Buffy's, hope to be back! Thanks!!

    Barbara2020-03-05T00:00:00Z
  • We enjoyed our stopover at The Shack on the way to SA very much. Buffy and Graeme have made a very welcoming and cosy space. Be sure to read the history of The Shack. We had cows greeting us at the fence and there is a great walk around the property to enjoy via a suspension bridge. Kids (and adults) will love it! Accommodation was very clean and comfortable. And being pet friendly was super convenient. Would recommend for something a bit different.

    Mandy2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • The Shack is beautiful of all sorts. we arrived late & dark and was immensely surprised at the surrounding views first thing the next morning. my partner & i enjoyed our walks around the property, stargazing at night, the peaceful sounds of nature and wildlife. we're entirely satisfied and happy with our stay at The Shack ♥️

    Amina2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • The absolutely ideal place to stay if you're looking for country charm with glorious serenity. The view out the windows and from the deck is so beautiful, the little details throughout the shack are so homely and sweet, the owners are lovely and considerate. We'll be back for sure.

    Kerryn2020-02-13T00:00:00Z
  • The Shack is a gorgeous little cabin overlooking the farm. It was perfect for our needs - three friends meeting halfway between Adelaide and Melbourne for a doggo holiday! Our four dogs had an absolute blast running around and investigating the cows and alpacas (from a safe distance / behind the fence!) The cottage had everything we needed and was beautifully decorated with rustic charm. It’s clear that Buffy and her family chose every part of it with care and love. The fresh milk was my favourite part (I drink litres of milk a day!) so I very much enjoyed seeing that in the fridge!

    Caitlin2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • Buffy’s ‘Shack’ is a loverly, light, airy, rustic-looking-but-wonderfully-comfy off the beaten track retreat. Buffy and Graham are super-friendly hosts. Easy access to everything Wimmera. Early morning and evening walks by the river are a treat.

    Greg2020-02-08T00:00:00Z
  • Oh the serenity. We absolutely loved this place. We booked as a stopover for one night on the way back from Mildura but wished we had booked for longer. We immediately felt at home in this wonderfully, eclectic space with its uninterrupted views of the land and the absolute silence.

The Royal Mail Hotel is a charming country pub right in the heart of Wycheproof. With 16 rooms available, you can choose from double, queen, twin or combination. (Please email or ring with your preference). The shared bathrooms are clean and convenient, the comfortable lounge room hosts a TV, lounges, desk, heater and assorted dvds. A complimentary breakfast of cereal, toast, tea and coffee is included. For lunch or dinner you can visit our cafe or bistro for a delicious chef-cooked meal.
We believe in good old fashioned hospitality and we appreciate you staying with us. The Royal Mail Hotel has welcomed many guests over the years since its construction in 1896. Although the accomodation is simple and the rooms are small, the general consensus is that the building is clean and comfortable. The town itself is lovely. Wycheproof is unique as the train line runs downs the middle of the main street. You might be lucky to experience a freight train roll through town on your stay although the trains are very infrequent. The main guest areas are warm and inviting. You can relax on one of the lounges in front of the fire in winter or in summer you can enjoy an icecream in the cafe after returning from the local pool*. The bar has a charm of it's own with pool table, fireplace and plenty of friendly locals willing to have a chat. Out the back of the hotel is a large Beer Garden with an expansive lawn which is a great place for children to play. *Swimming pool is only a five minute walk away and entry is free.
There are many things to do in Wycheproof, all within walking distance of the Hotel. No trip to 'Wyche' is complete without a trip to Mount Wycheproof, the world's smallest registered mountain. It's only a 15-20 minute walk from the hotel to it's summit and the views are worth the effort. While you're there, look out for the emus in the nature reserve or better yet, go at dusk and photograph a stunning Mallee sunset. Other places of interest include the golf course, the racecourse, the swimming pool, the historical museum, the bowling club, the tennis courts and the beautiful Centenary Park where you'll find plenty of flora and fauna including our famous peacocks. After you've visited the park continue south to the silos where you can see the recently restored railway station, a K class locomotive on display and a Nissen Hut built around WWII. There are also plenty of great places to eat and nice shops to browse. You'll find craft, bric-a-brac, homewares and plants to name a few. Also pop in and say hi to Jimmy Johnson, the sculpture guy across the road. There's something for everyone in Wycheproof!
  • Had an awesome night staying here! Everyone was lovely, the food was great (huge portions), location easy as to get it. Room was basic but comfy. Loved hanging out with the dog!

  • The Royal Mail Hotel is a real pub experience. The beds are super comfy and the rooms are pretty quiet considering it’s a pub. Don’t expect glamour-this is a real working traditional pub. But the hospitality is awesome, everything is clean, and the counter meals are delicious and massive. Coco the dog is also lovely to cuddle. Great value for money.

    Kathy2019-12-10T00:00:00Z
  • Nice old pub in the middle of town, meals were great! we both felt very welcomed. Rooms were clean, would stay here again.

And if you ask nicely they may even show you their fabulous hobby room ,which,by the way includes a Karoke machine. Thanks again for a memorable stay. Best wishes Sam & Rosanna

This little mudbrick house is off the grid located on a secluded bush block, 18 acres of natural wildlife and peace and quiet. Comfortably sleeps a couple, a home away from home.
This quiet little abode is off the grid with backup generator. Gravity fed tank water and a gas fridge, oven and hot water.
This property is situated 4 kms out of town. Far enough away but close enough if you need groceries, newsagency or cafe.
  • A lovely little place with everything needed. Do yourself a favour and go to the local pub for the best parmas known to man. Then come back, kick back, enjoy the serenity under the stars. If you leave the bedroom blinds open you can be awoken by the most glorious sunrise through the trees. Overall a fantastic getaway. We even came back with some honey from the local apiarist which is delicious. Our only regret was not being able to stay longer.

  • This little slice of middle of nowhere paradise is ideal for a getaway. My partner and I just wanted a random weekend out of town. Exored the grampians and wineries. Cooked a bbq at the log cabin with a couple wines. Was amazing. Best part was that we spent our time being present with eachother because this place has that old school vibe about it. Put your phones down and enjoy the place. Definitely recommend.

  • Quirky with a capital Q. The interior and exterior collection of objects is initially overwhelming but on closer inspection you can see the care and judgement that has gone into selection. The same care has been applied to the hospitality offer. Worth going out of the way to stay here.

  • St Arnaud is a very pretty country town with heaps of charm. Ruth's place is a converted manse centrally located in town across from the church and botanical gardens. Ruth is easy to engage with and provides knowledge of towns highlights and history.

The original mud brick home built in 1859 with extensions using recycled materials staying true to the home's beauty. Built during the gold rush era, the town of Wedderburn and surrounds still hold the charm of the time. Time on the property holds all the Australian bush charm. Kangaroos at dawn and an array of native birds above. The house has a modern kitchen and bathroom. Books, dvds or board games by the fire in the lounge.
There are 3-4 bedrooms (one can be used as an artist studio or games room) with the main a stunning mezzanine. The kitchen has been updated with gas stove, dishwasher, plenty of bench space and even a breakfast bar. The bathroom has a double-headed shower and a claw foot bath. There is an additional functioning outdoor toilet off the garage. There are two split systems providing heating and air con in the downstairs bedroom and also in the kitchen. This keeps the house a comfortable temperature. There is also an open fireplace in the lounge. Up some small stairs above the kitchen is the mezzanine bedroom with stain glass windows overlooking the property and Hardhill reserve. It's a beautiful place to wake up. Please note it is very important you contact us if you wish to request an early check in or a late check out. This is important as it may or may not be practicable on the day. Thank you for respecting this.
Wedderburn has all the essentials you'll need with a supermarket, butcher, newsagent, post office, café, pub, hardware store, golf course and more. Do stop in at the Wedderburn Hotel for a drink or a meal they also have a pool table and sport on TV.

The Royal Mail Hotel is a charming country pub right in the heart of Wycheproof. With 16 rooms available, you can choose from double, queen or twin. (Please email or ring). The shared bathrooms are clean and convenient, the comfortable lounge room hosts a TV and heater and a complimentary breakfast of cereal, toast, tea and coffee is included. For lunch or dinner you can visit our cafe or bistro for a delicious chef-cooked meal. NB. We have one room that sleeps three at no extra charge.
NB. We do not have any family rooms for 4 or more but you can request two rooms side by side.
Other places of interest include the golf course, the racecourse, the swimming pool, the historical museum, the bowling club and the beautiful Centenary Park where you'll find plenty of flora and fauna including our famous peacocks.
  • Country atmosphere great people layback clean old-fashioned pub with bigger than you can eat meals than you will love this place we would stay there again .

Our new house was completed in Novemeber 2017 and is located in a lovely country town and in the middle of the Yarriambiack Shire Silo Art Trail.
Your room is at the front of the house, and is purpose built with a queensize bed, an ensuite and a small, private sitting room. Because it is a new house the 'garden' is definitely a work in progress...
The house is about 5 minutes walk from the main street, with easy access to supermerkets and all the town amenities. There's cafes, pubs and plenty of antiques and collectibles shops to while away the time. One of the highlights of Warracknabeal is the Ladies Restrooms on the main street to the right of the Tourist Information Centre. It celebrated its 90 birthday in 2017 and is maintained in the true, old fashioned meaning of a 'Restroom'. There is a large room with sofas and chairs if you want a place to have a sit down and a chat, and a baby change room. These areas are open to men to have a look , but the toilet area and little garden at the back are strictly women only.
  • A great little stop over when doing the Silo Art Trail. Eileen & Walter are so friendly, and generous with their time & hospitality. The BnB is in a wide, quiet street with a bedroom, en-suite & seating area inside & out. They were wonderful hosts, offering a cup of tea on arrival, a welcoming chat about the area, and then shared a glass of wine with us in the evening. The bed was extremely comfortable, the shower had terrific pressure & everything was well thought through. We would recommend staying here if you’d like a warm home away from home experience. Thank you, Eileen, Walter & Nala (the gentle Lab). 😊

Beautiful former old Post Office located in the heart of St Arnaud, close to the Silo Art trail, Grampians national park, various boutique wineries and the goldfields of Ballarat and Bendigo. This 150 year old property has been meticulously renovated into two apartments providing all mod cons whilst keeping the original features of the property with well-established gardens, a very private backyard, security entrance and a short stroll to the main street.
The grand entrance and staircase you see as you enter is awe inspiring and almost like stepping back in time. The backyard is a well-established garden with several areas for a cup of coffee or a glass of wine as you watch the sun go down.
St Arnaud is a former gold mining town, situated about an hour west of Bendigo. The district around St Arnaud supports an agricultural industry of sheep grazing, grains and wineries, with forested areas to the south and open Mallee plains to the north. The town centre features many well-preserved historic buildings and a couple of nice pubs on Napier Street, many with wide verandahs and ornate cast-iron lacework. The town has a long history along Napier Street between Millett Street and Inkerman Street, including the old post office (built in 1866), the court house (1866) and Victoria's oldest fire station (1883) which now serves as a fire brigade museum. A number of attractive gardens exist in St Arnaud's town centre, including the Queen Mary Gardens located opposite the Old Post Office with its pond, exotic trees and friendly ducks and geese. Pioneer Park and Lord Nelson Park offer a range of sporting and recreational facilities. The town's last mine, the Lord Nelson, operated within these parks and there is a lookout atop Wilsons Hill which provides a magnificent view over the township. St Arnaud is the perfect place to base yourself whilst you tour the silo art and old mines dotted around the area.
  • Beautiful, historic building in the quiet end of the Main St. Fabulous space, - lounge, kitchen, dining table, bedroom, separate toilet & laundry & bathroom. Loved the decor, amenities & location. Really private to retreat to. One of a few self contained apartments in the one building, all private & has an outdoor courtyard. Would recommend to stay, especially when doing the Silo Art Trail. St. Arnaud is a very pretty town.

This listing is my home which is only available during Easter and on offer because of the world famous foot race, the Stawell Gift. My other listing (Kenmare) is for the queen room which is on offer all year round (except for the 4 days of Easter). I add my bedroom to the mix and offer the whole house as being available for runners as it is nice and close to Central Park. I use this time to head off somewhere in my bus. Send me any enquiries.
My home is situated in the best street in town. Skene Street has a number of houses like mine built in the late 19th or earthly 20th century which are listed as historically and architecturally significant at a Local level in the Victorian Heritage Database.
My home is in walking distance to shops, eating places and Central Park, the home of the Stawell Gift.

  • We stayed at 58 Dooen rd for a pre-Christmas family get together. The home met all our needs (and those of our dachshund). The kitchen was well equipped for entertaining and there was loads of off street parking. I would recommend as a really comfortable space that has been thoughtfully put together.

Garden cottage set in beautiful 1 acre surrounds. Kangaroos, echidnas, birdlife. Spa, modern bathroom, 4 poster bed, private and comfortable. Breakfast provided. Set in a former gold rush town on the banks of the Strathfillan Creek. Close to historic sites and the beautiful town of St. Arnaud. 5 kms drive to Teddington Reservoir
Close to the Box Ironbark forests we have lots of kangaroos grazing on the grass here. No light pollution means that the stars are very clear at night. There is abundant bird life : cockatoos, galahs, rosellas, corellas, blue wrens and honeyeaters. The Cottage and Inn date from 1868 and we have some 100 year old fruit trees. From the cottage you can see over to the River Red gums and the Creek. Stuart Mill has a rich history and the Old Malcolm's Inn has survived with many original features since it was built.
Once a gold rush town with a population of 7,000, Stuart Mill is now a friendly, quiet hamlet with a rich history. There is abundant wildlife and great star gazing, a private observatory is close by. In St. Arnaud there are excellent places to eat. Beautiful old buildings, museums, wineries, bushwalking, fishing and gold prospecting.
  • Beth was very flexible and helpful. My brother and I were travelling through on pushbikes and Beth allowed us to drop off gear a few days ahead and pick it up again a few days after our stay. We enjoyed chatting with Beth over dinner and she was very generous sharing her kitchen with us. We also loved the home baked bread and fresh greens from Beth’s beautiful garden. Thanks Beth!

Located on the outskirts of town, situated on 10 acres, this is your home away from home. Cute and cosy, pet and child friendly, Helen's place is a handy spot to stay while you explore the Grampians, Mt Arapiles, the Wimmera River or the Silo Art Trail or on your journey between capital cities. Please advise upon booking whether you are planning on bringing your pet along for your stay.
Lovely three-bedroom house that really feels like a home. The property is spacious, adjoining onto three separate paddocks. If you're lucky you may even see the cheeky sheep pop their head over for a pat! An easy-to-access home, with ample parking and a 2km walk into the centre of town. If the oranges and lemons are in season, you are more than welcome to help yourself. The house has air-conditioning and two different heating sources: a wood fire and a split system. Lounge around on the beautiful big couches, sit out on the verandah and enjoy the fresh air, or head down for walk along the Wimmera river just under a km away. The master bedroom contains a queen-sized bed, the second bedroom has a double bed, and the third bedroom is a bunk bed inclusive of a double bed and a single. All bedrooms have ample hanging space to really help you feel at home. The kitchen is fully equipped with crockery and cookware for all your cooking needs. A flatscreen TV, DVDs, books and board games are in the lounge for your enjoyment. Please note, there is no wifi at the property. Towels and linen, shampoo, conditioner and soaps included. Supplied firewood for those chilly winter nights. Pets are welcome – well-behaved pets allowed inside, but not on the furniture. Outside, being a rural property, please note there are rural fences and we would recommend keeping your pets leashed outside if they are likely to wander. We do have a 4x6 meter fully-fenced dog yard and a comfortable kennel if your doggo cannot be trusted indoors on their own... Don't worry, we've all had one of those! :)
  • Nice, cosy little house with plenty of space to sleep and relax. The house is at the edge of Horsham but an easy drive into town. It is on the main road by the railway but things quieten down at night and we didn't have any issues sleeping. A great place to stay as a group!

  • Virginias lives in the Australian countryside on a farm 5 minutes drive from the provincial town of Horsham, easy to find but at night you need a GPS. The farm is surrounded by a good maintained large garden and Virginias will be happy to give you a tour. And what you may expect from a farmhouse: the living space is generous. A spacious well equipped eat-in kitchen, a spacious sleeping room with two comfortable single beds with at the end of the (shared) hallway a large modern and equiped and neat bathroom (two fountains, a bathtub and a separate shower room). There is a separate toilet in the hallway. There is a cozy covered sitting area outside in the garden. Everywhere is Wifi. Very good value for your money. Verginias and her hardworking husband John are very welcoming.

Only drawback was kind of noisy during night if all the rooms are full cuz the room's insulation wasn't that good as well. Other than that is perfect. Thanks.

Restored 1860's Cobb and Co. Inn set in the quiet town of Stuart Mill. 2 renovated, tasteful rooms available, one in the cottage and another upstairs. Both have ensuite bathrooms. A delicious breakfast is included. Fresh muffins, juices from the citrus trees, tea, coffee. Also egg dishes. We have our own free range eggs and fresh garden produce.
Set on a beautiful bend of Strathfillan Creek close to Kara Kara National Park. Kangaroos on the block next door, abundant wildlife. Very private with cosy fireplaces, great food and very comfortable King size beds.
Unique restored Cobb and Co Inn. Very comfortable and well restored. A tiny, peaceful old Goldtown. The stars at night are very clear. Wineries, antique shops and wildlife. Families welcome.
  • Beth’s house, an old inn on the Cobb and Co route, is full of history and being sensitively developed. Our room was up a tight spiral staircase and looked out on a creek with lots of river red gums and her own old garden, heavy with summer flowers. Best of all, she rears many kinds of fancy hens and they were a fine dawn chorus. We went to sleep with the calls of white cockies and galahs in our ears. It is a magical place in a well-watered benign, and very quiet(except for the birds) landscape. A magical environment. She was warmly welcoming, as were her cats.

    Frances2019-11-25T00:00:00Z
  • Beth's place was a great stop on our trip up to the Silo Art Trail. The room is very spacious, extremely comfortable bed and Beth is easy to talk with & very welcoming. She made it a very easy place to stay.

  • No frills place, rustic and quite, a true country inn with a lot of history. Well located for those who want to do the silo painting drive, explore the wineries or relax in the area. We felt welcome and were well looked after.

  • Penelope’s Airbnb is a perfect stop off. 4 of us stayed there to break up the Melbourne to Adelaide drive and it was exactly what we needed. Plenty of space, modern house with air con in the bedrooms which made it very comfortable in the summer. The bedrooms get light quite early so would recommend an eye mask if you like a sleep in, but that’s a minor comment and I would definitely recommend anyone looking for a place in Horsham to use stay here.
