1 bed self contained cottage set in rural mid Wales. Large hot tub available to use at an additional cost of £20 per day for your own use..... please let us know prior to arrival if you would like the tub, as we have to balance chemicals and get it up to temperature ready for you. Full kitchen with everything you could possibly need... pots, pans, steamer, slow cooker etc,sky TV, log burner and central heating. We have beautiful views, some lovely walks and a haven of wildlife on our doorstep.
Hot tub can be booked for your sole use (£20 per night).... payable on arrival please. Unfortunately, we are unable to accommodate guests in the hot tub that have any kind of fake tan applied, it turns the water orange!!!!! Apologies for any inconvenience this may cause but we need to keep our facilities clean for other guests. Please be aware that we are in a valley and internet can be hit and miss, if you are looking to be on line for a lot of the time.... this may not the place for you. Mobile signal is really a no go, we are happy for you to use our land line to make any calls. As we are in the country, as hard as we try, you may spot the odd cobweb in the beams and a little dust.... all part of the character and country experience:-)
Very quiet area. No bus service. Lovely views.
  • Had a lovely few days here for my partners birthday. We were given plenty of information before hand regarding directions and then greeted by the host on arrival who was very welcoming and friendly. Thankyou, we loved our stay

  • Stayed at this beautiful lodge for a weekend to celebrate my partners birthday. Absolutely perfect if wanting to take a step back from day to day life and enjoy a countryside break. The hosts were so helpful from the get go and happy to answer any questions. We were greeted on arrival and Hadyn brought the humour, had us laughing and feeling right at ease from the start. Showed us around and reassured us that we could approach them at any point during our stay. The lodge was warm and they had a candle lit when we arrived so it instantly just felt so cosy. The hot tub was just as described and had been pre heated for when we got there. Everything you need is provided so we didn’t find ourselves worrying at any point. Huge thank you to Jude and Hadyn, would highly recommend!x

  • What a beautiful little escape from the real world! Cosy, quaint and well equipped for a cosy weekend in or the perfect base to see some of the beautiful Snowdonia National Park and other surrounding areas. Couldn't recommend the Waggon and Horses in Newtown enough for a delicious dinner and had the most relaxing evening in the hot tub with a bottle of wine and to completely detach from emails/work/etc. Thank you Jude and Hadyn xx

  • Jude's cottage is lovely, homely, clean and has all the amenities you could need. Parking is great. The host offers a warm welcome and was always easy to contact before the visit. Perfect retreat for couples.

Come and visit our beautiful, restored wagon, high on a peaceful, off-grid hill. For walkers or cyclists, romantic breaks or retreats in nature; this is perfect for adventures or simply relaxing on the deck with a cup of tea heated by hydro power. Cosy all year round with wood burning stove and kitchenette, it has all you need for a relaxing stay. Holistic massage is available in the farmhouse for that added touch of luxury and relaxation, if the peace, quiet and the birdsong is not enough!
Getting away from it all is easier than you may think, in this surprising little carriage perched on a secluded hill. It is a unique space in many ways, but I can describe to you some of our favourites! The carriage is on the land of a working smallholding and community. The farmhouse has several people living and sharing the garden, and we are completely off-grid, with our own fresh water supply, and self-contained small hydro system with solar backup to provide all our electricity. The carriage itself is made from a guards wagon. Before braking could be done remotely from the engine, a guard traveled in this wagon, and would have had to manually brake all of the carriages when necessary. When technology advanced, these wagons were sold off to farmers by the railways, as well-built sheds and cabins. This one was winched to the top of our hill and renovated, and we are very excited to be sharing it! Ideal for retreats, romantic breaks, or for a base on a walking or cycling trip, the carriage is close enough to civilization to be convenient (the market town of Machynlleth is a 15 minute drive away) but also remote enough to really, truly relax. I also have a treatment room in the house, so if you would like to book in for a Holistic Massage as part of your holiday, just let me know and I'll be very happy to see you. The farmhouse who's land the carriage is on, is the only dwelling on this side of the mountain, so if peace is what you are looking for then you have come to the right place. However civilization is close at hand! The charming market town of Machynlleth is a 15 minute drive away, and has a vibrant community and enough shops to get you everything you need. There are plenty of popular attractions, for example the Centre for Alternative Technology for those interested in treading more lightly, the Dyfi bike park for downhill enthusiasts is right next door, or the Dyfi Osprey Project, a breeding site for ospreys. We are nestled in the southern edge of the Snowdonia National Park, so there is plenty of exploring for walkers and cyclists to do- Cadair Idris is one of my favourite mountains and it's only 15 minutes away... We are 1.5 miles from the A487 near Machynlleth, up a forestry track- fairly well maintained but with a smattering of potholes, for the rally driver in us all. Full, easy directions will be sent upon booking! There is space to park, with a short walk (1 minute) up a fairly steep hill with steps, so please consider if you can manage this before booking! I lived up here without a car for 10 years, and it is certainly possible to manage. Trains come regularly to Machynlleth from the Shrewsbury / Birmingham direction, and from Machynlleth there is a good bus service coming to Pantperthog. It is a 25 minute walk (again, uphill!) to get to the carriage from the bus stop. Of course there is always the taxi- from Machynlleth it costs £10. I can provide their details upon booking. We live off-grid! We think this is pretty amazing, and love being self-sufficient in power and water. But it does mean that sometimes, when it's been really dry for ages, or when things go a bit wrong, we may need to be careful with how much power we use. Occasionally it means the peace will be broken by a couple of hours of our noisy old diesel generator charging the batteries if there has been some problem, or us using the chainsaw for a while to cut our (and your!) firewood. It means we'll sometimes have to ask you to use the gas instead of the electric kettle, and to avoid using hairdryers or similar high power luxury items. Apart from these rare events it shouldn't create any inconveniences, just a warm fuzzy feeling that during your stay you are having barely any impact on your environment, and a great example of how the eco lifestyle can work! Good outdoor shoes or wellies, and slippers are also a good idea as I do provide some but your own may be preferable.
There are plenty of popular attractions, for example the Centre for Alternative Technology for those interested in treading more lightly, the Dyfi Bike Park for extreme downhill enthusiasts are our closest neighbours, or the Dyfi Osprey Project, a breeding site for a pair of ospreys. • Lovely, relaxing break away with beautiful views and walks. Meg and Ben were friendly and welcoming and we would highly recommend if you want some peace and quiet off grid!!!

  • I booked the Train Carriage on the Hill as a surprise for my boyfriend's 40th birthday. I think he was a little bit shocked when he realised there was a composting toilet and a separate shower and in fairness, Meg does advise against surprising anyone. But once he stepped inside the carriage he fell in love with the space, as did I. It's so much more spacious than the photos suggest and the bed is really comfy and cosy. It took a little while to master the log burner and get used to nipping outside to the loo, but we soon settled in. The view was stunning when there was a break in the clouds. And to top it off we saw 3 jets on the Mach Loop, which was why we came to this part of Wales. A truly memorable birthday.

    Michelle2020-02-19T00:00:00Z
  • A lovely view from the decking area which also contains a mini fire pit where wood is provided near the entrance to the farm house. The wood burning stove was great and the pillows provided were like resting your head on a cloud! The sink is located outside which can be quite chilly washing dishes and yourself if you dont have the weather :)

  • Prepare for the most wonderful night/s stay at the carriage! We stayed the night storm Ciara arrived and were well and truly snug, warm and safe. Perfect hosts and the perfect little get away. Definitely a place we want to return to.

    Helen2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • A very special place up on the hills, with spectacular views to wake up to. We loved our beautifully decorated little home for the night. So cosy with the fire blazing, the fairy lights on and a glass of wine in hand! It was blowing a gale outside but it was quiet, comfy and toasty in the carriage. Pure peace and privacy, and a great place to reconnect with nature. We definitely hope to be back this year for longer.

    Katie2020-02-08T00:00:00Z
  • An amazing little getaway! Amazing views of the welsh mountains, from the warmth of a log fire cabin. Meg was fantastic, so friendly and hospitable. We went for dinner in the local pub and that was delicious. The only drawback was that the cabin can’t be locked from the inside, which is easily overlooked when taking into consideration the incredible location. Definitely will be returning!

Be under no illusion this is like camping under a wooden roof! Not glamping or an hotel. Boatel guests share the boat roofed shed with other guests and residents and no one has exclusivity on this structure. The boat is old and dusty with the occasional spider, an unusual and quirky experience!! The views are stunning. Sorry no dogs but there are two friendly dogs that live here. And cats and ex caged chickens.
Set in an acre of wild flowers and up a mountain in the beautiful Dyfi Valley Biosphere the Boatel is literally a bed in a boat! Not to mention a beautiful open plan cooking and living space – all in a shed AKA the Boat Roofed Shed. Recognised for its amazing and unique qualities, it even won the infamous Cuprinol’s Shed of the Year in 2013. It’s our absolute pride and joy and we love sharing it with our guests! We’ve hosted comedy festivals, exclusive concerts and curious tourists in our little mountain hideaway and Alex (aka DJ Badly) uses it to prepare his sets for festivals such as Glastonbury. We built the shed in 2012 using recycled materials and it was our first major project. Alex is normally a rubbish DIY person, so designing and building the whole thing ourselves was a great achievement and we couldn’t have been happier to win both the ‘Shed of the Year’ Unique Category and the Overall category in 2013. From the shed you can see across Cader Idris (part of the Cambrian Mountains of Snowdonia). It’s so beautiful even in the maddest of weathers, you can close the door, light the candles, pop some kindling in the wood burner and be snug and warm in moments. Our guests all love staying in the Boatel - they love the peace, the location, the structure, the ambience, and the curios (Alex is a big collector and has been on Antiques Roadshow with his Poole Pottery collection!). As well as the relentless throwing of Frisbees for the dogs! We supply all bedding but do not supply towels or breakfast.
We live in the dyfi valley biosphere and we are very committed environmentalists. There are a lot of fantastic Visitor attractions in the area, particularly the Centre of Alternative Technology, Talyllyn Railways and of course Cader Idris – which is part of the Cambrian Mountains of Snowdonia which can be seen from the boat roofed shed!
  • Our second time visiting the Boatel was as lovely as ever, despite the cold and windy weather we were always warm and comfortable. Alex is always easy to get in contract with and happy to help with anything. The space is decorate with all kinds of exciting trinkets and kept warm with the fire and a fantastic sound system. I would always come back here and recommend to anyone.

  • Well where do I start. Just returned from a wonderful night spent in the boatel and im missing it already! From start to finish it could not have been better and totally exceeded our expectations. The location is quite literally breathtaking the drive up the montain towards the boat was something very special. We were greeted by 2 of the friendliest dogs I've ever met the lovely Florence and rex and Alex himself who showed us around his incredible space and joined us for a glass of red and a chat in the shed before leaving us to settle in. Truly top bloke and a pleasure to have met! The amenities are fantastic and much beyond what we expected. My partner was able to cook a full curry using the gas stove in the shed and everything we needed was provided plenty of pots pans utensils etc. I was slightly concerned we were going to be cold but the shed is so toasty with the log burner lit which Alex got started for us an arrival. We had a fantastic night drinking far to much wine, eating cheese and loved being able to plug our phones into the sound system in the shed. Listening to Simon and garfunkle by candlelight late into the night in these surroundings was really quite something and retiring to the most comfortable bed I've ever slept in topped the evening off. Alex has an electric heater and even provides a hot water bottle in the boat so we were very warm indeed. Waking up to the views in the morning when we opened the boat doors was outstanding. We enjoyed a full English with the chickens before we left! And Alex showed us around the land and let us know some exciting things he has in store before waving us off on our journey home 🙂 A trip that we will never forget and we can't wait to come back. Alex, thankyou from both of us for letting us share your incredible space and it was truly a pleasure to meet you! Until we meet again!

  • A warm and cosy yurt in a beautiful place

    Jennifer2020-03-16T00:00:00Z
  • A little sanctuary away from the normality of life, but its much more than that, there is so much to see and learn from nature, and we must all learn to immerse ourselves in it more often. Anne's place is special and more over, there are few people who can really say they will leave this earth having made it more beautiful than when they arrived, but here it is being done, hope to return one day and see how all those wonderful trees have grown :o)

    Jon2020-03-09T00:00:00Z
  • For those that enjoy nature and appreciate the small things. Annie is a lovely host. I cannot thank her enough her hospitality . The yurts are in a magical place. The views of the rolling hills are breathtaking.

  • Lovely yurt, beautiful setting, great host. We stayed 2 nights, got through 3 bags of logs (which you can buy from Annie at £5 a bag) on the very delightful burner. The surrounding area is beautiful and tranquil, great for visiting the forests, hills and coast that the land has to offer. Shower was lovely and warm. It was a delight.

  • Beautiful traditional yurt. Really thoughtful touches such as slippers. We were warm and cosy despite it being January. Being in such beautiful landscape and off grid was really rejuvenating. Annie was a great, friendly host and took the time to greet us and show us around. We just wished we could have stayed longer.

    Sam&Rich2020-01-11T00:00:00Z
  • Our second visit to Annie’s yurt, was a lovely Relaxing way to spend New year. The yurt is warm, cosy and tranquil. Had a great trip to Aberdovey on the Saturday - can definitely recommend. If you want to get away from the stresses of everyday life then Annie’s yurts are a perfect retreat.

Yurt is well kitted out for your day to day needs and the local scenery is amazing. Will definitely be returning. Thank you for an amazing stay.

    Andrew2019-11-16T00:00:00Z
  • Annie's Land is a wonderful place to stay to get away from it all. The scenery is breathtaking and there's lots to explore from the area. The yurt had everything we needed and was so cosy. We could have stayed a lot longer, two nights didn't feel like enough! The dogs loved it too. We'll definitely be returning. Thank you.

In school holidays bookings run for a week, Saturday to Saturday
There are plenty of walks straight from your door to explore the surrounding countryside. Walk for miles not seeing a soul and just listen to the sound of birdsong and Buzzards and Red Kites circling above. Take an expedition off to find the stone circles on the hill side above or just take off for the day to explore the surrounding area. Fronlwyd is right in the middle of a beautiful unspoilt valley that is a tributary to the river Dyfi, a world famous salmon river and internationally renowned 'biosphere' for flauna and flora. there is hill walking from our door, at the head of the valley is the sources of the rivers Severn and Wye with their respective long distance footpaths beginning here. A ten minute drive away is the Hafren forest which has miles of walking and cycle tracks through it and there is sailing fifteen minutes away at Llyn Cllewedog. Depending on how adventurous you want to get you go pony trekking on the beach at Borth, Canadian canoe down the Dyfi river, kayaking at the Welsh national kayaking centre near Llangollen and of course Snowdownia is on our doorstep - my favourite mountain to walk is cader idris which is the highest peak in Southern Snowdonia but is just as spectacular as Snowdon with the added benefit being without the crowds - it's about half an hour from Fronlwyd. The area is famous for mountain biking and Machnylleth, 20 minutes away, has four downhill trails that will challenge any rider. The nationally renowned Coed-y-brenin trails are around 35 minutes away also. The Redbull hardline is also 15 minutes away. A little further afield is go-ape and also the longest zip wire in Europe, which is something like a mile long! Several guests have been on this and said that it was a great experience. Also rave reviews continue for the underground caves 'Bounce Below'. If this is all a bit too 'extreme' there is stacks to other things to do that is more in keeping with the tourist scene, castles a plenty, narrow gauge railways, art galleries etc There is plenty of space for bikes at Fronlwyd with a garage to lock them up in and pressure washer available. There is so much to do around here!
  • Perfect! We came for my mum’s 60th with 4 young children and couples in their 20s, 30s and 60s. It was perfect for all of us! It’s not often you can find somewhere that is perfect for everyone, there was plenty of space for the kids to play and plenty of space for adults to relax. Loved every second of it thank you x

  • Great accommodation. In an ideal location to get out on a few day trips and the little touches like the pizza oven and cinema barn really help to add something different to this place. We had a great time with a large family and would highly recommend to anyone else

  • Vicky and Adam provided an excellent venue for a family birthday week end. Kids and dogs made welcome too. Just the right level of support with facilities, such as hot tub and Pizza oven. Barn cinema also a great success, especially with youngsters.

  • Superb accommodation. Loved the space for our family gathering. The men enjoyed cooking the pizzas in the outside pizza oven. Great place to spend time with the family.

  • Lovely spacious place for a family or friends get together. Christmas decorations were a nice touch and well done.

    Dan2019-12-09T00:00:00Z
  • A group of us come away every year to celebrate Christmas early and have a nice relax before the real festivities begin. The cottage was perfect for us size wise and having normally stayed coastally in Anglesey, it was a nice change to have some different scenery. The cottage was easy to find with the postcode that Adam gave us and got us straight to the door. We had great weather whilst we we there. A few bright but cold days and on our fake ‘Christmas day’ we woke up to snow falling which was a real treat. We loved seeing Holly dog who came for regular visits and strokes. The kitchen was perfect for our sized group. Enough room to make individual meals and to muck in and make the big Christmas dinner. We made the most of the hot tub (in -1 temps) and the pizza oven (in the rain). We especially loved the dining room which leant itself so well to our crafting we did whilst there and our Christmas dinner. The table looked beautiful decked out with all the Christmas stuff. All in all, we had a great time and felt pretty sad driving home and back to reality on Monday morning in the rain. We would definitely consider this location again for the same kind of trip. It’s perfect for a winter break but you can clearly see how amazing it would be in the summer too. Thanks Adam :)

The area is ideal for those wanting to either just 'get away from it all ' or a perfect base for activities and sightseeing. We are also becoming a regular place for romantic couples and if you have any requests for additional things such as roses etc just let us know.

  • A delightful place to stay. Calm and restful. Our hosts were thoughtful and have made a wonderful shepherds hut with fabulous eco credentials.

    Sarah2020-02-19T00:00:00Z
  • Absolutely amazing!! What an amazing few days! The host was fantastic! There are so many things that just made our holiday, and great memories! Past few days have been the warmest I've ever been, which was something we were worried about! The hut is equipped with everything you'll need. Tea, great coffee, every kitchen utensil and pan, and the way the hut is built and designed is incredible, it's like something off the documentary tiny house on Netflix. Makes us consider living small! Amazing views and surroundings. Loved the folder of info. Will return soon!

    Meg2020-02-14T00:00:00Z
  • This place is truly idyllic. For those that are used to a compost toilet believe me when I say that this one is a nice one! The shower was wonderfully hot. The wood burner inside has a very handy little oven alongside which we made full use of. The field is perfect for dog owners, the bed and bedding was gorgeous and cosy and there is a little welcome folder with tips and walks etc. Loved this place!

    Charlotte Sarah2020-02-08T00:00:00Z
  • A magical little home more than a hut. Cozy but spacious and made with love. A lot of thought has gone into this space. There is everything you need including a very comfy bed. Beautiful area too. Our dog was in heaven and so were we. We will definitely be recommending this place to others.

  • It was a pleasure to stay at the Eco-Cabin, it allowed me to sleep as a baby, read a lot and gather my thoughts about life. The decoration, furniture and space of the cabin are perfect and really environmentally friendly. Paul and Suzanne were really friendly and gave me some really good local tips. I hope I can visit the area again and hopefully say Hi to your nice family/house! Thank you :)

  • Fantastic few days in this cosy cottage, it has everything you need and is perfectly located. On the main road so great for travelling around the National Park but not noisy. Some fantastic hillside walks around the adjacent forest, just over the road. The views from this cottage are stunning and it's the perfect getaway for anyone wanting a break from work or their normal life. Great dog friendly pub in the village, just 5mins walk. We can't wait to come back!

  • The house was very clean and tidy. We arrived after dark so it was nice that the house was warm and inviting, including the bottle of wine on the table. We had a comfortable stay in a great location (aside from banging our heads a few times on the low doors - they take a little getting used to!).

    Angela2020-01-06T00:00:00Z
  • Absolutely wonderful cottage. Great little village. Perfect for anyone who loves the great outdoors. Local people are amazing, really friendly and gave us loads of advice and suggestions for things to do. Definitely go again.

  • If you haven’t been to this area, you’re in for an absolute treat! The views and the village are straight out of a fairytale and Paul’s cottage is the perfect way to experience it. It’s so nice to unwind and unplug out there. For food, we highly recommend the Crafty Cafe (walking distance from the cottage) and the Brigands Inn (quick drive down the road). Can’t wait to come back!

    Lace2019-09-16T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely, comfortable cottage. Perfect for a long weekend exploring Snowdonia with our dog. Had all the amenities we needed. The village has a cosy, traditional pub which serves good food and offers a warm welcome. Other people have mentioned the road behind the cottage, but we didn't find it a problem. It is very quiet at night, allowing for a good night's sleep. We had great weather while we were there which allowed us to sit out in the garden and enjoy the stunning views over the valley.

    Shona2019-08-26T00:00:00Z

Cut Cywarch is in the heart of the Southern Snowdonia mountains. Set at the foot of the Aran Fawddwy (905m) - there are many walks starting from the door step of the hut. If you are looking to switch off and get away from it all, then this is the place for you. With no mobile phone signal or wifi you are sure to have some peace and quiet! Perfect for a couple getaway.
Wooden hut in the mountains. 3.5 miles from the village of Dinas Mawddwy where you will find a two pubs, a garden centre two cafes and a crafts centre. A further mile up the road there is a petrol station and a shop.
  • Last minute trip down wales, cut cywarch was a lovely cosy, warm, hut in the middle of a beautiful valley!

  • Absolutely amazing stay. The location was perfect for hiking throughout South Snowdonia and there are plenty of guides in the hut to help you find the right walk. The hut was very cosy and genuinely felt a lot more spacious than the pics make it look. Shower was nice and had all the necessary amenities to cook some decent meals. The best thing was waking up to the mountains literally on your doorstep with the stream flowing right next to you. Highly recommend, will definitely be coming back!

    Henry2020-03-16T00:00:00Z
  • What an amazing location. The photos do not do this place justice. This is the perfect place to stay if you like to walk. Just outside your doorstep there are national walks with beautiful views. There's also a beautiful river running by the side of the wooden pod which can't be seen in the photos Ellen has up. We stayed for one night, and the wooden pod is lovely and cosy with all the amenities you'd need. We visited the local pub The Red Lion for food, which had a lovely open fire and great pub grub 😃 loved that there was no signal, WiFi or television, it really added to the relaxing weekend away! Will definitely be back soon.

  • We had a fantastic weekend at the cabin. The cabin and surrounding environment is very romantic, peaceful and relaxing. The hosts were very welcoming and went out of their way to make our stay as perfect as possible, many thanks. The sauna is a must and make use of the freezing river next to it, highly recommended. Probably the best place we have ever stayed at!

  • My partner Conor and I have spent two nights at the beautiful shepherds hut and enjoyed our stay massively. Even though it was fairly stormy at times, we felt cosy in the hut with the fire on. The hut was sparkling clean and the bed is so comfortable, much bigger and deeper as some of the pictures let on. This shepherds hut really is a beautiful work of art and you‘ll find quirky, beautiful aspects all around the property, for example re-purposed cutlery as coat hangers. There has been so much love, thought and effort put into the development and maintenance of this hut, it’s wonderful. We will surely be back!

    Julia2020-02-21T00:00:00Z
  • We had a lovely couple of nights in Cabanant - even if one was cut short by Storm Dennis' persistent downpours! A great place to stay whatever the weather; obviously sunshine is preferable, but even in grey conditions the cabin comes alive as a great cosy hidey-hole. Highly recommended, and we'll definitely be back in the summer.

    Alex2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • The perfect getaway. The hut is built with attention for detail and is set in a magical location. Hearing the sounds of the gentle stream is guaranteed to give you a good night's rest. An absolute recommendation.

  • There was once a little buffalo, and he had everything he ever wanted; the city was his oyster. Yet he was not satisfied. Only when he lost everything, did he realise that less is more. Losing everything was a small price to pay for finding himself. This place may help you along your journey. Wonderful little place within a beautiful location. Highly recommend using the sauna!

  • The Bothy is a great cosy self-contained space near to the main farmhouse and in a perfect location for Dolgellau and Cadair Idris. Parking is easy. The space may be on the small side but it adds to the coziness and is more than adequate for one. The Bothy is well presented and very clean. There is a good kitchen space and Dawn is very thoughtful in providing a supply of tea, coffee and milk and also some breakfast items. I did do a small shop for the morning before arriving but this wasn’t really needed. The shower is perfect and was a delight after a difficult and extremely wet day on Cadair Idris.

A beautifully designed cottage nestled into the hillside, with huge windows providing stunning uninterrupted views down to the river and woodlands. The cottage has a large open plan living area that combines a gorgeous handmade kitchen, dining area, and comfortable lounge. Underfloor heated throughout and stylishly decorated, the space is warm, cosy and inviting at all times of the year.
Full of curves and quirky features, the unique design of the cottage includes a lovingly planted living roof of sedum, flowers and herbs that also extends over the timber frame veranda. Huge windows throughout provide a sense of connection to the outdoors, and the large glass sliding doors extend the living area to connect with the outside sheltered veranda. The cottage is situated on our four acre family smallholding, downhill from the family farmhouse. There are also two shepherd's huts on separate parts of the smallholding, as well as our vegetable garden, polytunnel and orchard, with free range chickens and ducks. Each dwelling has its own individual parking area, separate access and private land associated with it.
We are located on the edge of the picturesque rural village of Abercegir, surrounded by trees and hills with fantastic walks on offer directly from the property. And yet Abercegir is less than ten minutes drive from the bustling market town of Machynlleth, with a wide variety of cafés, restaurants, pubs, boutique shops and curios. The local area is a hotspot for mountain and road biking and as keen cyclists ourselves we can give you lots of local tips. The two closest beaches are Aberdyfi and Ynyslas, both around 30mins drive away.

  • Quaint house, town centre Ann was very welcoming when I arrived earlier than expected and she gave plenty of directions of where to find the house. The kitchen had a good range of cereal to choose from and nice little touches like the offer of a hot water bottle. It was a little cold but there were extra blankets and earplugs to help with the noise of the traffic. The bookshelf was full of great classic novels and the living room was colourful and quaint. Thanks Ann 🧡

If it’s a quiet, chilled out getaway you are looking for, then this is the place for you! We look forward to welcoming guests to our Welsh glamping hut in the hills, 'Ty bech twt' (a Welsh translation for 'small house'). We hope we have catered for all your needs but please ask if you have any special requests, we will try our best to accommodate every need.
This glamping experience has all the essentials - gas BBQ, firepit, electricity, log burner, kitchenette and bathroom which includes a shower. The king size bed is located in the mezzanine with a ceiling window to watch the stars from the comfort of your bed. The hut is fenced off so pets can roam safely, and there are plenty of dog walks nearby. PLEASE NOTE - There is no mobile reception or wi-fi within the area so you can 'switch-off' throughout your stay. The bed is located up a steep ladder - as seen in photos.
We have plenty of great walks right on our doorstep, from gentle strolls to mountain climbs. Or if you would prefer an adventure on two wheels, then Coed y Brenin is the place to be for off road cycling experience or dare cycle the highest pass in Wales which is minutes away. Or you may prefer to be pampered? There are spa facilities and restaurant around 9 miles away with picturesque lake scenery. There is plenty to see and do in and around the area from steam train journeys, boating/kayaking on Wales’s largest natural lake, day on the beach, visit caves at King Arthur's Labrinth or the hustle and bustle of Machynlleth market every Wednesday. There are also plenty of great places to eat locally of different cuisines. And if you’re not too tired out after all the day activities, Snowdonia National Park was awarded Dark Sky Reserve status in December 2015 so we have just the place for stargazing.
  • We had such a lovely time here. Super refreshing to not have any phone reception and the only neighbours in sight being the sheep. Lovely, responsive hosts, happy doggo to cuddle, and amazing views from the hut. A perfect little get-away!

  • Great stay, lovely little cabin. It really is a tiny house with great facilities.

    Lauren2020-01-05T00:00:00Z
  • A wonderful New Years spent recharging and unwinding. The cabin is small but perfectly formed and lots of lovely, quality touches. It has everything you need as well as being warm, cosy and just non pretentious - it felt like a home away from home. We had an amazing walk to the local waterfall. Despite no WiFi or phone signal we didn’t lack in entertainment. The views are to die for and the surrounding area is a perfect escape

    Naomi2020-01-02T00:00:00Z
  • We had a fantastic stay and really enjoyed our time away. The location is gorgeous, fabulous views. The cabin is well-equipped with everything you'll need. The little electric fan heater was really appreciated to take the chill off in the mornings, and to provide a bit of warmth before the fire got going! Thank you for this beautiful little place :)

Tan y Bryn is a 4* self catering holiday cottage set in the quiet village of Corris in Southern Snowdonia. Newly refurbished & pet friendly, sleeps up to 4. Surrounded by the Dyfi forest & within easy access to the local hills & mountains for some superb walking & hiking. Great location for cycling & mountain biking too. 25 mins from the seaside. Real ale pub & wholefood café a minute from the cottage. Welcome tray with homemade cake & a free basket of logs for the woodburner on arrival.
Built in 1864, Tan y Bryn is a Grade II listed historic cottage which takes you back in time whilst providing comforts of the modern day world. It was recently awarded a 4* grading by the Welsh Tourist Board.
Corris is a unique Welsh village, small in size but big in heart. It is surrounded by spectacular countryside and is an ideal base to explore the hills and mountains of Snowdonia. Corris has a strong community spirit and a very welcoming atmosphere. It boosts a great real ale local pub and a tasty organic café, both just a minute's walk from the cottage. Both establishments welcome dogs. Round the corner from the cottage is The Corris Railway, a small narrow gauge preserved railway, where you can take a ride in a old fashioned steam train, a popular excursion for families. For gin lovers, there's the local gin distillery just over the road in the Corris Craft Centre, within walking distance from the cottage. The seaside town of Aberdyfi is only 25 mins away with its beach, harbour, cafes and restaurants.
  • A period property that's been renovated to perfection, retaining all the original charm but with the modern comforts you'd expect. Every room is beautifully furnished and packed with cosy, homely (and functional) touches. Both bedrooms are characterful, with supremely comfortable beds, high quality linen and plenty of towels. The kitchen is new, with everything you could want provided: I do all my own cooking, and found it to be very well thought out. The lounge is packed full of light, warm colours, comfy seats, and a highly functional cosy wood burner with all the necessary provisions. The shower was fairly powerful, and could go as hot as you'd like. The street outside the property is quite narrow, as is common in Wales, but the parking space is set back. Overall, it's obvious that a lot of care has been put into this property, and indeed in maintaining and keeping it pristine and homely. I highly recommend it.

    Adrian2020-03-17T00:00:00Z
  • Tan y Bryn is a fabulous cottage with fabulous scenery all around. Even the house opposite has a collection of bird feeders attracting siskins, blue and great tits, robins . The cottage is very well equipped with everything you could need. The bed was lovely and comfortable and everything was spotlessly clean. The woodburner made it extra cosy in the evening.

    Cindy2020-03-10T00:00:00Z
  • Fab cottage in a nice little village, perfect for exploring the local area. Loved the log burner, very cosy in the evening. Really comfortable beds with quality bedding. The cottage is really good value for money and Jane is a fabulous host! One of our favourite Air bnb properties and we will hopefully get to spend some more time there in the future.

    Andrew2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • I could not recommend this cottage more highly. We had a lovely break, even in the driving rain! The cottage was warm and cosy and it was a lovely place to recharge our batteries. Jane has thought of everything you could possibly need as a guest and the bedding, rugs, blankets and artwork in the cottage make it feel very luxurious.

    Lucy2020-02-20T00:00:00Z
  • We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in your beautifully furnished cottage, it’s immaculately clean, lovely and cozy. We also loved the location with stunning scenery and lots of enjoyable walks on the doorstep. Everyone in the village was welcoming and friendly, especially the local organic coffee shop and pub. We’d love to stay here again and would highly recommend.

    Amy2020-02-18T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful little cottage in a stunning area. Upon arrival we noticed straightaway how clean everything was, the kitchen has everything you could need, and the lounge is just a nice, cosy place to be, especially when with a log or two on the fire. Upstairs was the same, very clean and the beds were very comfortable. All in all it’s a great place to stay and also very accommodating if you have a dog. It’s the perfect location to explore the surrounding areas with dog walks right on the doorstep. Will definitely be visiting again.

  • Had a super stay in the most perfect, warm and welcoming Welsh village cottage. Everything from the lovely welcome tray, super comfortable beds with top quality bedding, white fluffy towels, fantastic powerful shower with plenty of hot water, comfortable lounge with wood burner and exceptionally well equipped kitchen really was immaculate. The owners have thought of everything and have been an absolute pleasure to deal with. Highly recommend Tan y Bryn for a relaxing, peaceful break away from it all - a little gem which we will most definitely go back to. Thank you Jane and Dan.

    Julie2020-01-05T00:00:00Z
  • Tan y Bryn is an idyllic cottage in the welsh country side. If your after peace and quiet then this is certainly the place to go. The cottage was the perfect size for our party of 4 adults and a toddler. We were welcomed with a bottle of sparkling wine and truffles which was such a lovely touch to our New Years break. Jane is a lovely host and although we experienced a little hiccup she responded to this straight away and was resolved within a few hours. Will definitely consider returning again. Thank you!

Situated on a very steep hillside this house are two slate quarry workers cottages made into one comfortable house. The cottage is from the 19th Century and most of the furniture is period. However, the kitchen and bathrooms are modern.
This is a place to retreat to, away from the hustle and bustle. The single bedrooms are small but the double is very roomy. There is no wifi or internet connection, no telephone or television.
The area was extremely important in the age of slate and there are mementos of that time to be seen everywhere.
  • This is a cosy historic cottage, tucked away from the world, surrounded by history and natural beauty. Fantastic for those who enjoy the simple things and a lot of space for great value!

  • What an amazing place! I feel very lucky to have had the opportunity to stay in such an unusual home in such a beautiful setting. The village of Corris is a truly lovely place to stay and being able to stay somewhere that's both so nice and so close to woodland isn't something that you come across everyday. I very much doubt you'll regret booking a stay here!

Escape to the beautiful Dyfi Valley: walk & cycle in the mountains, relax on sandy beaches, enjoy a pint by the fire in the local pub or lunch in the village cafe. A traditional cottage looking onto river & mountains with all you need for a comfortable break.
The cottage is traditionally furnished with all you will need for a comfortable break including wood burning stove, TV and Freesat and a well equipped kitchen. The bedrooms are cosy and bright with amazing views over the mountains and down to the river. A second floor balcony provides a great viewpoint and an awning on the patio means the garden can be enjoyed in all weathers.
Corris is arguably the friendliest village in Wales and certainly one of the most beautiful. After holidaying here in the summer of 2015, just four months later we had left our lives in Essex to live here that's how much we love it! With stunning walking and cycling routes on your doorstep, the market towns of Machynlleth & Dolgellau nearby, a short drive to white sand beaches and the second most climbed mountain in Wales, Cadair Idris only minutes away, Corris is the perfect base for an adventure or a relaxing break in majestic scenery. There are also plenty of attractions including CAT (Centre for Alternative Technology), Corris Craft Centre, King Arthurs Labyrinth and the village even has its very own steam train!
  • A warm little house with amazing access to South Snowdonia in a lovely village. The place was clean and tidy and the host was very responsive and accommodating. Recommended.

  • Loved our stay in Corris. The house is full of character and is beautifully surrounded by forests and rivers. The rooms were comfortable and cosy. The Slaters Arms is a great grade 2 listed pub and highly recommend it for food and a great pint! The house and location is highly recommended.

    Mirka2020-02-15T00:00:00Z
  • We visited Corris during a very cold January spell for a family celebration. The cottage has a small footprint but three floors, with a double bedroom on the first floor and a twin room on the top floor. Ideal for us and two teenagers. It is very comfortable and cosy, in a lovely position backing on to the river. In warmer weather the outside space would also be nice. Good to have been supplied the basics such as tea, coffee etc....and a wood burner as the temperature fell below zero! We would definitely stay here again. Thanks.

    Orston2020-01-19T00:00:00Z
  • Lovley place. Tiny and cosy. Beautiful surroundings.

    Ewa2020-01-04T00:00:00Z
  • The cottage is in a beautiful location in the Welsh mountain countryside. We were made to feel very welcome and Lauren's hospitality was outstanding. Lovely thoughtful touches throughout the cottage and clean, ready amenities. Thank you!

  • The perfect place for a short, cosy weekend away. Quick walk to the local pub, shop and craft centre (which we did find was closed in winter, like many of Wales’ attractions). Easy drive to local nature spots too - a very beautiful setting! The cottage itself was clean, cosy and just right for a weekend away. We enjoyed using the log burner in the evenings, and had everything we needed to cook basic meals. Thanks again!

Our beautiful eco-friendly barn conversion, set within the Snowdonia National Park, with a wonderful mix of traditional stone exterior and contemporary interior, is set within landscaped gardens with 360 views of the mountains, and is near Dolgellau, Machynlleth, Coed-y-Brenin, Lake Vyrnwy and Cadair Idris. Downstairs is a lounge, kitchen and dining area, and a bedroom and shower room. Upstairs there are two bedrooms - one double and a twin - and a bathroom. We welcome 1 well behaved dog.
As you approach Pentre Wern, you know you are about to stay somewhere very special. On entering the barn, you are met with a warm and cosy open plan ground floor with a contemporary rotating log burning stove. The lounge has comfortable but stylish leather seating with two sofas and an armchair, together with a large flatscreen smart TV with FreeSat, DVD and iPod docking station. There is also free Wi-Fi throughout. The dining area has a large table and chairs to seat up to six. The kitchen is fitted with a large modern range cooker with electric oven and LPG hob, large fridge/freezer, microwave and dishwasher, and is fully stocked with all the cooking utensils that you should need, as well as tea, coffee, sugar and milk so you can have a cuppa on arrival! There is a bedroom on the ground floor with a queen sized double bed, and a ground floor shower room with basin and WC, ideal for those who might struggle with stairs. The open-tread staircase leads to the two first floor bedrooms – the master has a standard double and the other is a twin room - and a bathroom with bath, basin and WC. There is also a travel cot and highchair available on request. The patio area also has seating for 6, with a BBQ for relaxing on warm evenings after a day out, and has stunning views down the valley which constant change. We are set in 1.25 acres of tranquil gardens with uninterrupted mountain views in every direction - a truly rural retreat in Snowdonia. Have a wander around with a cup (or glass!) of something nice, sit on the benches and watch the birds nesting, listen to the sheep baaing or just sit and watch the world go by at our stream. On a clear night experience the stars in all their glory, and look out for shooting stars! There is a shared detached drying room with washing machine which you are welcome to use and ample parking for three cars. Bikes can also be stored in the drying room. Those with dogs may also find the outside shower room handy for cleaning your four legged friend after a day on the mountains! Central heating is provided by an eco-friendly biomass boiler, electricity comes from solar panels and water is fed from the spring (treated accordingly). Other environmental considerations include a waste water plant. The barn is completely independent from our farmhouse, giving you privacy, but we are right next door if you need us. You will find a welcome basket waiting for you on arrival, and a basket of logs for the burner. Further logs are available to purchase from us if required. Find us on Instagram (pentrewernbarn) for more pictures and updates! House rules: Maximum occupancy of six plus one toddler. Any additional guests that have not booked will be charged for or asked to leave. One well behaved dog only please. Please let us know that you are bringing a dog when booking. Dogs should be kept on a lead at all times in the garden (a long lead is fine!). Dogs should not be left unsupervised in the barn. Please tidy up after your dog. Due to the steep garden and the stream running through it, children should be supervised at all times. Please leave all gates as you find them. For insurance purposes, guests should ensure that all downstairs windows and doors are locked overnight or when not in.
This is a truly stunning area to stay, especially if you love the great outdoors. The beautiful Aran Mountains are just down the road, and Cadair Idris within a 10 minute drive. The spectacular high peaks of Northern Snowdonia are just over an hour’s drive away, and the stunning coastline is about 30 minutes away, with miles of blue flag beaches and sand dunes to explore. We are in a designated "Dark Skies" area (nightlights are set up in the barn to help you find your way around at night!), so it's worth spending some time on the patio watching for shooting stars! The Red Kite Centre at Bwlch Nant yr Arian and The RSPB Nature Reserve of Ynys Hir are both about 45 minutes drive. There are miles of mountain biking forest tracks in the hills and mountains surrounding us, with Coed Y Brenin 9 miles away, as well as the new Dyfi Bike Park. Redbull Hardline also takes place in the forest above the house in September each year. Corris Craft Centre is just down the road from us, with 8 local crafters showcasing their skills, as well as the multi-award winning Dyfi Gin Distillery, and a lovely cafe with great cakes! It is also where you will find King Arthur’s Labyrinth and Corris Mine Explorers. The Centre for Alternative Technology is less than 15 minutes’ drive away, and the Mach Comedy Festival takes place each May. Dinas Mawddwy is 2.5 miles away (there's a lovely there through fields and along country tracks) where you will find the Red Lion (Y Llew Coch), serving homemade food at great prices - you won't leave feeling hungry! We also have Coffi Camlan in the village, at Camlan Garden Centre and Farm Shop, where Lisa and Ian have an ever expanding choice of local produce and quality plants. Or stop off at the Crafty Cafe, where you can have coffee or lunch whilst browsing for crafts made by local makers, or even book yourself on to one of their courses! We are often found in one of these having brunch after walking our Cocker Spaniel, Dilys around the village! We are located under the "Mach Loop", a low flying area for military planes, so you may be lucky enough to experience an amazing flying display! This only takes place during the week, and it can be pretty unpredictable as to the timings, although it is never all day. But don't just take our word for how wonderful Pentre Wern is! Here are some comments from previous guests: "Peaceful but dramatic. Large grounds with lots of enclosed spaces and a stream too. Amazing mountain hikes or woodland walks close by. Pubs and amenities also not far. Fantastic location. Friendly and helpful people too!" "Thank you Helen and Steve, we have had an absolutely amazing stay! The place is beautiful with great views. Would recommend it. It is beautiful inside and out and we had a wonderful stay." "With lazy breakfasts on the veranda looking out over neighbouring fields, listening to sheep, birdsong and watching the house martins nesting, we did not want to leave. We have never felt so relaxed and have already booked our next staycation." "Thank you so much Helen and Steve for sharing your fantastic home with us. The cottage is absolutely fabulous, in a spectacular location. Thanks for making us feel so welcome."
  • We had a great time at Helen and Steve's. The place is quiet with a view and access to the meadows. The house is well equipped, very clean and comfortable. The hosts live right next door and were there to help us and answer our question, and at the same time we felt like we had the hill to ourselves! Helen and Steve provided us with some little treats for our arrival, we really enjoyed it.

    Dinas Mawddwy, Wales, United Kingdom

This characterful stone cottage is in the heart of historic Dolgellau, close to the town centre places to eat, drink and shop. The Victorian cottage has been stylishly refurbished with a sparkling new bathroom and kitchen. Located in a peaceful and unspoilt area of Snowdonia National Park, it’s a convenient, comfortable base for couples, friends or a small family. The spectacular mountain landscape surrounds Dolgellau and the beaches of Fairbourne and Barmouth are a short drive away.
Located just off the main town square in a quiet courtyard, the little stone cottage has a fantastic central location in the historic and handsome market town of Dolgellau. You are just a few steps away from cafes, excellent restaurants and welcoming pubs. There are also many walks into the mountains from your door. The Victorian cottage is cosy, compact and stylishly decorated with colourful vintage touches and a new, sparkling kitchen and bathroom. Walk in through a small room with a dining table and chairs. Make yourself at home in a comfortable arm chair and plan your days out with the local maps provided. There is central heating for instant warmth in every room. To the right is a snug lounge with a sofa and easy chair. If you’re not popping into town to eat out, the large digital TV means you can relax after a day out exploring and log into your Netflix or the i-Player. There’s good WiFi too if you need to stay connected. The cottage is owned by Peter, a retired art and craft teacher, and you will see some of the vintage 70s ceramics he made on the colourful Welsh dresser and around the house. The big Victorian bay window looks over the street to the pretty stone cottages opposite. The modern kitchen is well equipped with a dishwasher, fridge, full sized oven with electric hob, washing machine and tumble dryer. There’s also a microwave, a cafetière and food mixer. Whether you’re preparing a lazy breakfast, picnic lunch or special meal you’ll find all the cooking utensils you need here. The new bathroom is on the ground floor with a bath and overhead rain shower. A steep and narrow flight of stairs leads to two bedrooms. There are 11 steps and the stairs have a bit of a twist at the bottom. The double bedroom has a bay window looking across the slate rooftops of Dolgellau to the surrounding hills. The double bed has a deep mattress and crisp cotton bed linen. There are upcycled bedside tables and lights on each side of the bed. The second bedroom has one single bed and plenty of storage space. The large window looks across to the Listed stone buildings opposite and fills the room with plenty of light. Guests with children should note that there is a door but no stair gate between the bedrooms and the steep stairs. People with mobility issues may find these stairs between the bedrooms and bathroom challenging. For this reason we do not recommend the cottage for families with very young children or those who find stairs a challenge. Although there is a narrow parking space by the cottage, it is only suitable for one small vehicle. You may find it easier to drop your luggage at the cottage and then park further up the road where there are usually spaces for free on street parking. There’s a stone seat outside the front door to enjoy watching the world go by, but no outdoor space, which is why we regret this cottage is not dog friendly.
Dolgellau is a traditional historic Welsh town and you will find many welcoming independent shops, places to eat and pubs just a couple of minutes walk from the cottage. One of our favourites is TH Roberts, an atmospheric cafe in a former iron mongers which serves the most amazing variety of his me made cakes ever. We also like Dylan’s wine bar and cafe and The Torrent Walk pub is the place to head for pint with the locals or your Sunday roast. The Meirionydd Restaurant serves an excellent Welsh menu and there are plenty of other choice for dining out. Cader Idris mountain range rises behind Dolgellau and you can can take footpaths out of town into the hills. One of highest peak in south Snowdonia, Cader Idris is a beautiful mountain, with both family friendly and more challenging routes to the summit. Dolgellau is an amazing base for walking, whether you are a keen hillwalker or would just like an easy amble in the stunning scenery. The Precipice Walk and The Mawddach Trail are two of the best known local walks, and you will find plenty of information about routes in the cottage. Dolgellau is also fantastic for cycling. You can hire bikes from £20 a day in town to cycle the flat Mawddach Trail to seaside Barmouth and back. You can also hire mountain bikes to explore the famous trails at Coed y Brenin which is just 15 minutes drive. Coed y Brenin forest also has wonderful walks to mighty waterfalls and is becoming known as one of the best trail running centres in the U.K. For runners, Dolgellau also has a friendly and scenic Park Run on Saturdays. Your neared beach is at Fairbourne which is much quieter than its better known neighbour at Barmouth - also much easier to get to during peak season! Fairbourne beach is less than 15 minutes drive from Dolgellau. Every third Sunday of the month (March to December), Dolgellau hosts a Farmer’s Market with good quality local food producers and craft makers. Other local attractions include Portmerion, Harlech Castle, steam trains at Ffestiniog and Talyllyn railways, the zip wires and underground adventures of ZipWorld. Snowdon is a scenic 45 minute drive through Snowdonia National Park.
  • Absolutely lovely weekend at this sweet cottage. Beautifully decorated and cosy, and well prepared for our arrival with milk in the fridge and heating on. John was very helpful and communicative, and flexible with our schedule. Looking forward to coming again soon!

  • Had a lovely weekend at Sarah's beautiful house. Lovely big rooms and plenty of space. The views from the bedrooms are spectacular! Sarah was so friendly, very accommodating and there was a great welcome basket. Would definitely stay again!

    Abigail2020-02-02T00:00:00Z
  • Sarah's house is in a beautiful peaceful location with parking. It is spacious, clean, homely and has plenty of pots and pans for cooking meals. We found the pillows and beds comfortable. Bread, jam, butter, milk and cakes were waiting for us when we arrive. A very welcome sight after a long journey. Also tea, coffee and sugar. There is plenty of family games, leaflets and local information. Sarah was on hand if needed.

    Stella2020-01-26T00:00:00Z
  • We had an amazing stay at Sarah's hoise and we can't recommend this place enough. The area is very beautiful and quiet, and pictures don't justify the views. Sarah is a lovely host and she was very helpful throughout our stay! Thank you, Sarah!

  • Everything was amazing. Very good host and we had everything we need it. The area is gorgeous and the view is breath taking.

  • The house is great, set in a beautiful area surrounded by hills and countryside, there was plenty of space in every room for our large family (4 kids, 6 adults). Sarah is a very experienced and lovely host, gave us a few goodies that were much appreciated and was always available for advice and information. Would recommend this place to anyone.

    James2020-01-01T00:00:00Z
  • Our party of 7 adults and a baby stayed here very comfortably. A beautiful house in a superb setting. Sarah was so helpful, she sorted out a stair gate for us and was chopping wood for us when we arrived. She had thought of everything, the dining room was decorated for Christmas and she had left essentials for us like bread milk and jam. Very clean, beds were really comfortable and wifi was good. Plenty of wildlife around the place and a pub within walking distance. Fabulous! It really made our Christmas.

Cosy double room in a quirky apartment with great views over both the town and the hills behind. Most likely you'll be sharing communal areas with myself and 2 daughters, to be clear this is our family home and it has relevant wear and tear and walls still to be painted etc. Not a holiday cottage but well equipped and brilliantly located close to public transport, shops and private parking. Shared garden also for your use. We have 3 black cats too.
Situated over three floors over an old bank the flat is quite an unusual space that we've made our home for 3 years now, still a work in progress but nearly there! Your double glazed room at the back of the house has stunning views orientated towards the sunset. From the kitchen diner you can enjoy a great vantage point over the town
Machynlleth is a safe and friendly town with easy access to trains to Birmingham and beyond and at the edge of Snowdonia, the Celtic rainforest and some stunning beaches. I think it's utopia but I might be biased.
  • I wasn't able to do much in Machynlleth because I accidentally visited at the same time as Storm Ciara but Claire's home was a lovely place to hide from the weather, cuddle a cat and cheekily sample some homemade baked treats. The location is perfect for exploring Machynlleth, visiting CAT and Snowdonia National Park so I hope to return soon with kinder weather.

    Sarah2020-02-10T00:00:00Z
  • All communications and directions with Claire prior to arrival were excellent. Her apartment is right in the very centre of Machynlleth, looking out from her first floor kitchen/diner window straight up the High Street, and from the guest room at the back (it's totally quiet at night) westwards to the hills in the distance. She and her young children are delightfully sociable, whilst respectful of privacy. Harry, suave, jet black and with bewitching emerald eyes, might pay you a furry-purry visit if he thinks you like him. The house is cheerful and convivial, guest accommodation calm, warm and unfussy.

This ground floor conversion is a spacious and elegant open plan kitchen/sitting/dining room. Triple glazed at the front, it's beautifully quiet. The generous bedroom at the back has a lovely modern wetroom. Underfloor heating throughout means you will be cosy and warm. The bustling market town of Machynlleth is just up the road, with both the railway station and the bus stop just opposite the house, so you can ditch the car and head out into the amazing countryside. Access is using a keycode.
The kitchen has all you should need - fridge, kettle, microwave, toaster, stove and oven and a large table to enjoy your meals. There is a comfy sofa and soft chair as well as the dining table & chairs. The bedroom has a comfortable double bed. The level-access wetroom leads off this room. In the sitting room, there is a sofabed (this is a small 'double') and we can provide a travel cot should you need it. The whole space is was set up for someone who had disabilities. If you have specific needs, please contact us to discuss before booking. A little glitch would be that if the electricity trips, we will need access to the bedroom - this happens once every year or two. There is parking on the street to the front, or on the small road leading up to the station. There is also an off-road carpark opposite the house which you would need to pay for separately. - Free Wifi - Smart TV with Freeview and you can access your own Netflix etc. - Guest access is with a keycode so you are completely independent.
Machynlleth punches way above its weight with its annual Comedy Festival, Music Festival (mainly 'classical'), and the Dyfi Enduro. It has its own Museum of Modern Art (five separate exhibition spaces), nearby Ynys Hir (RSPB) hosted Springwatch for three years, the Centre For Alternative Technology is just up the road and did I mention the mountain biking? There are local walks or you can start on a longer hike from here. It's an ancient town, home to Owain Glyndŵr’s 1404 parliament and a market that dates back to 1291. There are lovely pubs, some with live music at weekends. There's a good deli and eateries galore including the nearby Michelin star restaurant at Ynys Hir.
  • Great guest suite. 5 min walk from town centre but everything we needed in the apartment. We'll equipped kitchen, great wet room and comfortable bed. Plus all the great countryside around the town. Recommended!

  • We had a great stay at Ann's. She is very welcoming, responsive to messages and attentive to the fact that we have everything we need. We were able to enjoy her beautiful cuisine and she even allowed us to shelter our bike in her garden.
