Very secluded, you can't see neighbors. Six acres of trees. Very private. The Cuba area is a great place to visit, offering archeological, geological, wildlife, recreation, and scenic views. The San Pedro Parks Wilderness, San Gregorio Lake, El Valdo Reservoir, Abiquiu Dam, Cabezon Peak, Bluebird Mesa, Nogales Cliff House and Fenton Lake are all easily accessible. As a Continental Divide Trail Gateway Community, popular stopover for visitors to Chaco Canyon, Four Corners, Ghost Ranch, Abiquiu, Santa Fe National Forest, Valle Caldera, Jemez Mountain Trail Scenic Byway, and home to the Sandoval County Fair, there is a great deal of potential for outdoor recreation.
  • Very hospitable and friendly host and great value!

  • Our stay at Karlene’s was magical. I’ve never stayed in an RV before...this one had EVERYTHING to make a stay comfortable and cosy. Karlene shared lots of great ideas about local attractions and as a home base for our adventures in Chaco Canyon...the location just outside of Cuba, NM was ideal. We’ve stayed in quite a few Airbnb’s over the years and I have to say that Karlene and Mike were the most welcoming and gracious hosts we’ve ever experienced. The location is magical...piñon, juniper and cottonwoods surround the gorgeous and unusual round adobe main house...views are awe inspiring and the quiet is sublime. The RV and adobe studio space are nestled close by and are totally equipped for comfort and ease of living while you explore this beautiful location. This is a special place lived in and cared for by special people. You won’t be disappointed. We’ll come back! Diana and Bill Sahr

  • Karlene is a great hostess and the place has magnificent views.. it was spotlessly clean and all-in-all a thoroughly wonderful stay.

    Lois2019-09-30T00:00:00Z
  • Plan to be really wowed about this beautiful space. Very comfortable and beautifully set. Nightime stars are amazing.

    Sonja2019-08-23T00:00:00Z
  • Karlene's place is sparkling clean and amply out-fit. The bed and bedding are very comfortable. Temperature control is superb. We did not have the chance to use the fully equipped kitchen other than making a pot of coffee. Bathroom and shower are adequate. Living room is homey and has the best view. The place is very easy to find, thanks to Karlene's detailed instruction and the visible sign by the road side. We arrived late at night and yet we had no trouble finding it and checking in. We only communicated with Karlene via Airbnb message. Because it is a trailer not an ordinary house, some appliances/switches/devices are operated differently from those in a conventional house. In most cases, the location of switches are labelled and operational procedures are explained in writing. However, in some other cases, I had to search hard, i.e. the light switch for the shower and the living room, or never figured out , i.e. cords of window blinds.

  • This was amazing. Beautiful view, very comfortable. Close to downtown Cuba. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

This sweet studio sanctuary is nestled a top a quiet dirt road in the heart of Jemez Springs. For those who love the outdoors this is a perfect, comfortable space to sleep amongst the stars and vast views of the mesas in this land of enchantment. Arched above the Jemez River you can expect peace and quiet in this simple rustic location.
This is a perfect space to rest after a day of outdoor activities. Many enjoy coming to be amongst the private, quiet sanctuary of Jemez Springs to write, retreat and rejuvenate.
There are just over a dozen home amongst this private road. It is common to find neighbors walking their dogs. The road is backed up to miles and miles of national forest with access trails for hiking. Drive slowly along the road and note that the southern entrance is a bit easier to manage versus the northern entrance.
  • Karen's spot is awesome! Close to everything and a beautiful view! Highly recommend. A 4 wheel drive vehicle is highly recommended.

  • Can’t emphasize enough how perfect and beautiful this place was. I can’t wait to stay here again. So comfortable and scenic.

  • Very nice retreat, better than expected. Karen is a fantastic host. Thank you for your inspiration Karen.

  • A wonderful and relaxing space in a very unique location!

    Alex2019-10-11T00:00:00Z
  • The cottage was cozy and clean and relaxing! With the hot springs so close by, and with the canyon views during the day and the full starry skies at night, it was a complete experience, certainly. My wife and I enjoyed it lots as a mini staycation :)

    Aeones2019-09-29T00:00:00Z
  • Karen’s place is wonderful; simple yet very comfortable, quiet, with one of the best views ever. Just watching as the day and night move through the valley, the sweet smell of the land as the sun rose, the stars coming out in the evening; you can’t have this experience just anywhere. The furnishings are simple, comfortable, filled with love. This was the perfect place for us to end a long day of travel, soothe our jangled nerves and settle into vacation mode. If we return to the Jemez area, we will be looking to see if Karen’s place is available without a doubt!

    Susan2019-09-14T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed in 5 very different Airbnb New Mexico experiences in 5 nights, traveling from South to North. Each had their charm, pros, and cons. It was an amazing experience! Fifth and last was Karen's cabin in Jemez Springs. Just a great space, beautiful location, relaxing touches. We arrived in the dark, so Karen had the light on for us. Walking up the entry way, we were greeted by peaceful sounds of a fountain right on the deck. The cabin is very sweet; nice touches throughout to make it homey and inviting. The view from the bed is amazing, but not as amazing as the deck! The kitchen has everything you need, and the fridge has a few things to help you get by if needed. Shower felt great. Beautiful view. Really enjoyed our time in the morning drinking coffee and taking in the view... Would definitely stay again. And if I needed a little privacy, the second writer's cabin is perfect.

  • We travelled to New Mexico to visit Chaco Canyon. This house was exactly what we were looking for: quiet, secluded but easy to find. The house was very clean and warm upon our arrival. We were able to use some groceries that were already in the house and that made it even more enjoyable. I would definitely recommend Aryanna’s house!

  • Karlene’s space is attractive and well appointed with amazing views out the windows. She has included thoughtful touches like curtains between the beds as this space sleeps as many as 7. We were 2 couples and found this a comfortable, fun place for all of us. It is only a few minutes to downtown Cuba so getting to a good dinner was convenient. Highly recommend.

Our unique mountain hideaway is conveniently located about halfway between Santa Fe and Albuquerque, in the Jemez Mountains with a spectacular view of Guadalupe mesa. A natural light show each morning as the light descends, lighting up millions of years of the history of this magnificent landscape. A place of quiet and wonder, of beauty and invitations to explore. Minutes away from the burgeoning art center of Jemez Springs, and an eon away from the work day worlds left behind.
It’s been called a jewel box of a home with spectacular views of the mesas and valley below on two acres in the Jemez Mountains, and close to the Santa Fe National Forest. An ideal retreat — quiet, private, and with great neighbors on an unpaved road and easy access from Albuquerque and Santa Fe. Works of art are in every room — with nature’s art outside of every window. The center living-area features an open floor plan with a fireplace and with breathtaking views of the mesas and the river valley and cottonwood trees below and also access to the tranquil Japanese garden. The fully equipped talavera-tile kitchen adjacent to the patio includes a dishwasher, toaster-oven, microwave, and all the appliances, cookware, and cooking essentials you need and with coffee, assorted teas, and even fresh herbs. Step outside to dine on the patio with a charcoal grill and magnificent views. There’s also a patio fireplace when seasonally needed. French doors in the Mesa View bedroom open onto a deck onto which you may slide the full size bed and fall asleep to the sounds of the river in the valley below with the Milky Way overhead. Next to the bedroom is the Mask and Garden room which includes a small desk, computer and printer, a small library and selected pottery and paintings by local artists. And the home features a traditional Japanese six-mat tatami room that opens onto the Japanese garden and becomes a bedroom at night with air mattress. Like being at a traditional Japanese inn. Enjoy a soak in the outdoor hot tub with stunning views day and night or relax in a classic butterfly chair as hummingbirds and butterflies visit you.
While you may find it hard to leave this private, peaceful space, the surrounding National Forest and village offer unlimited hiking, exploration and even hot springs. Nearby attractions include Battleship Rock, Fenton Lake, The Gilman Tunnels, a quaint village with several restaurants and a riverfront park. A great selection of guidebooks we have collected for you will keep you busy or just ask ... we can custom-tailor a tour for you.
  • Fantastic getaway in the Jemez Springs area --- the house itself is situated right in the hills with phenomenal views at all times of the day. Whether it be waking up to a roaring red sunrise or gazing at the crystal clear night skies & milky way, the setting is one of the best houses Ive ever stayed in. The house itself can be a little cold so make sure to make ample use of the functional fireplace and large gas heaters, which warmed it right up. Kitchen was stocked with oils, spices, condiments. Very close to hikes. The nearby saloon was great also. NO CELL RECEPTION in the house or surrounding area, but the wifi in the house was fine. This is a great house for a getaway retreat, yet still very close to Albu and Santa Fe. Would highly recommend, would stay again.

    Ted2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • It might set high expectations to call a place "magical." But this Jemez Springs home really nails it. Whether it's the view of the mesa across the way with the morning sun creeping down the canyon wall, or the dome of stars visible through the bedroom window as you go to sleep, or a glass of wine by the open fire in the living room. Really great vibe, and Kelly was a very responsive host. And take her advice to buy groceries, there really are none available for miles!

    Brett2020-01-05T00:00:00Z
  • For us, an incredible place and space. It was very meaningful to stay in a home that had been built with so much thought and beauty. The house sits in its breathtaking surroundings with a gentle presence. Its wonderfully curated art, comfy furnishings, curios, amenities and all-round homeliness, enticed us to spend almost our entire stay of three days without leaving the property. Our host Kelly was the very definitions of responsive and helpful. Being from Texas and all, we had wished so hard for a white Christmas. Late afternoon on Christmas Eve, the hoped for flakes began to fall. It was that kind of stay, in that kind of place. Genuinely magical!

  • Great place. Hot tub beneath the stars. Peaceful and a great getaway.

  • This space is above and beyond. As a native New Mexican who moved to NYC 12 years ago, I can attest to how special this space and location truly is. This is the best of New Mexico. Thank you Kelly!

  • We loved our stay at the cottage. It's the perfect headquarters for doing anything in town, but also a nice little oasis if you just stay inside by the woodstove. Our host was friendly and helpful - the eggs and coffee were much appreciated! 🙏 The awesome views of the mountains were hard to leave behind. Would definitely stay here again!

  • Cute little place close to the springs Liked the old fashioned feel!

    Nick2020-03-07T00:00:00Z
  • We had such a nice time here! The place was cozy and cute, the stove and heated bed kept us warm all night, and we had our tea out by the chickens in the morning. The hosts were great, they provided us with all the ammenities we could have wanted, and the location was perfect (walking distance to food and the springs). We're definitely planning on coming back in the summer for another get-away!

    Kaylee2020-03-02T00:00:00Z
  • Cozy, beautiful views, loved the wood stove. Thank you thank you!

    Aly2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • Fun walkable location right in Jemez Springs. My daughter and I had a very relaxing visit. Billy provided all we needed to be comfortable on a cold February night. He cranked up the wood stove and pointed out the local cafes. We chose to relax by the warmth of the wood stove and played board games. The bed was cozy. Such a nice time. Thanks Billy!

  • Connie was a great host. Quick to respond to my questions and very accommodating with my ETA timing issues. Very responsive

    Angie2020-02-08T00:00:00Z
  • Connie was a great host! She let us know everything we needed to know before we got there and the directions were very clear. The place itself was gorgeous, you can tell they’ve put a lot of thought and effort into making it comfortable. Not to mention the absolutely incredible view 😍 my husband and I could have sat at the window the entire stay and been content! Wifi was a bit spotty but it’s the trade off you get for everything else!

    Ellen2020-02-01T00:00:00Z
  • Connie's place is a beautiful little hideaway in the mountains. We used it as a base to explore Chaco Canyon. It would also be great for hiking in the mountains during the summer. Connie was a very helpful host and gave us tips on where to eat in town. One note is that the wifi is not very strong in the guest suite. Not an issue for us - Connie was super nice and let us sit downstairs to use the internet. But if your travel plans involve heavy internet use, this may not be the place for you.

    Lauryn2020-01-25T00:00:00Z
  • Connie and Ramon were delightful people and it was a joy to stay with them on our adventure to New Mexico. The space we occupied was a private suite nested upstairs from the main home. It was a spacious area with various amenities such as a microwave and refrigerator for use along with cutlery and space to hang your jackets. The bedroom was separated from the living area, a standard tub size bathroom with double sinks and space heater for the winter months. There is two TV and two fireplaces which added a nice touch to our stay, not to mentioned a large window overlooking the majestic beauty of the sunrise and sunset of the land of enchantment. It was easy to book, excellent communication, hospitable people and we definitely will stay again should we venture back to the area.

A cozy cottage nestled amongst the ponderosa & piñon pines. This mountain retreat offers expansive views from windows and deck space. The property borders on Santa Fe National Forest and Poleo Creek is a short hike away. Relax in this special getaway...read, meditate, nap....The treehouse is an architectural gem. Think tiny living with intelligent design. 30 minute drive from beautiful Abiquiu Lake & Georgia O'Keefe country. Outdoor adventures await.
This is one of two architectural gems nestled on Poleo Mesa near Abiquiu. The other Cottage can be viewed/rented under Bare House Cottage at Poleo Creek near Abiquiu. The two cottages have a shared deck with expansive views. The Tree House has its own wood fired sauna. Part of the deck space is shared space between the cottages (at times...the other cottage might be occupied while you are there). Remember this a clothing optional facility...you might not chose to go without clothes but others guests might be nude. We are on the north side of the Jemez Mountains, close to Abiquiu Lake and San Pedro Park Wilderness. This is a remote location. The nearest grocery store or restaurant is 40 miles away. There is a wonderful general store ,"Bode's" in Abiquiu, that has everything you might need including: Groceries, gas and a small cafe. Be sure to bring food for your stay. The cottage has a full kitchen. This entire property is smoke-free. This includes, e-cigarettes, and any other form of smoking or vaping.
The cottage is oriented to the east on an acre of land... so we always have beautiful sunrises. There is a dirt road behind our home that affords access to the San Pedro Wilderness which can get busy on the weekends. Otherwise it's very quiet and serene... the night sky is amazing for Milkyway gazing.
  • Amazing spot highly recommend

A quiet mountain rustic cabin retreat with a river just 300 yards away. We welcome everyone from all walks of life. We love well behaved pets and children. The cabin is a place to unwind and unplug, CELL PHONE service is unreliable and internet access is limited. Come and get away from the hustle and bustle of city life. We are just a short drive to Jemez Springs, Hummingbird Music Camp and lots of hiking trails. The snow is amazing this year come and go skiing or snowshoeing!
Cabin on the River is an old school rustic cabin. It has modern conveniences like propane heat, air conditioning and a cute well stocked kitchenette while still feeling like an old hunting cabin. AWD is highly recommended in the winter because our road has several hills and can be difficult to climb after a snowstorm.
We live in a quiet neighborhood with very little traffic. Our county maintained road is a loop and a great place to take a stroll if you like hills. Our property has lots of trees and privacy with a stream running along one border. Cell phone service is limited.
  • Our stay was awesome, very quiet and private . Love to come back again in the future .thank you

  • Amazing once again. We have stayed at April’s place in the past and will continue to book here on every trip to Jemez Springs!! Looking forward to next year!!

  • A rustic cabin in the mountains with great access to Valles Caldera and Jemez Springs. No wifi or cell service, so consider it a chance to unplug and wind down. Super responsive host and lovely mountain setting.

  • April and Joel's cabin is in an amazing location on the east side of the canyon. It is close to all the attractions in the area for hiking or hot springs! Be sure to grab groceries in La Cueva up the road a few miles. April was quick to respond if we had questions and it was a treat to not have wifi and just relax. We especially loved taking our dogs on walks around the neighborhood and property and on all the great hiking trails in the area. All the locals are incredibly friendly. Definitely visit Los Ojos Saloon in Jemez Springs!

  • Had a great stay in this cozy cabin in winter time. Good access to the Caldera and nearby trails for skiing and snowshoeing.

    Jeffrey2019-12-27T00:00:00Z
  • Wonderful stay! Cozy and cute. Close to Jamez Spring town as well as all sightseeing places like soda dam, historic site, hot springs. Especially San Antonio hot spring that we visited was awesome. We had a trouble getting to the cabin because we didn’t have a 4 wheelers due to the icy road, but other than that, it was our perfect Christmas holidays:)

  • Nice cozy spot next to Jemez Springs

    Jason2019-12-15T00:00:00Z
  • What to expect? A lot of extras. Overhead lights and fans; dual controls on the bed; lots of coffee and cream (bring your own sugar); quiet heater; comfortable bed;very clean. It was a little too isolated for us, but for quiet, hunters, fishers, and outdoors people of all kinds, you cannot do better.

Bad Ass Point is a nature-lover's delight offering a peaceful and relaxing get-away. The Cabin is located on the Jemez River just 3 miles north of the village of Jemez Springs, New Mexico. Come out and enjoy the Beautiful Jemez Mountains.
The cabin is conveniently located just off of Jemez Trail National Scenic Byway (Scenic Route 4)! Soak in the hot springs. Go hiking, fishing, mountain biking, rock climbing, sightseeing, skiing, and snowshoeing. Or just relax and read a book on the shaded redwood deck. Nearby Recreation • Jemez Falls • Natural hot springs (Spence, McCauley, San Antonio) • Fenton Lake State Park • San Gregorio Lake • Seven Springs State Fish Hatchery • Lakes, Rivers and Streams for fishing • Valles Caldera National Preserve (The Caldera is the center of a volcano which imploded about one million years ago). • Bandelier National Monument • Kasha-Katuwe Tent Rocks National Monument • Chaco Canyon National Park • Jemez State Monument • Gilman Tunnels • Soda Dam • Battleship Rock • Pajarito Mountain Ski Area • Ponderosa Winery • Hummingbird Music Camp • YMCA Camp Shaver
I recommend all of the local restaurant and shops in Jemez Springs just 3 miles south of the cabin and Amanda's store 6 miles north. If you are planning to cook at the cabin bring "All" of your supplies there is not a grocery store close by. Breakfast is served just down the road at Jemez Stage Stop, and Highway 4 Coffee in the Village of Jemez Springs. Try the World Famous Los Ojos restaurant and Old Timey Saloon for lunch and dinner also in the village. For Therapeutic Mineral Water Hot Spring pools and baths. Try Giggling Springs and the Jemez Springs Bath House.
  • This is a cool house right on the Jemez river. We had a great stay. Can't really call it a cabin, it's bigger than than its with a tall A frame construction. Very nice setting and easy to find. I would definitely stay here again.

    Cliff2019-12-16T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great time at Evan's place! The cabin was clean, warm, and beautiful. We loved the pellet stove and it was easy to make breakfast in the kitchen every morning before we ventured off hiking. Evan left us detailed instructions for the cabin and was really kind and responsive. He included great local suggestions in terms of Jemez attractions and food. Overall, we loved Badass Point and would definitely come back next time we're in Jemez. Thanks again Evan!

    Patricia2019-10-20T00:00:00Z
  • This cabin is fantastic. My husband and I spent a weekend here looking for some down time and Evan's place definitely delivered. We also took a short drive up the road and visited the amazing Valles Caldera and the Longmire cabins. As Evan advertised, the cabin is right off the road. At first I thought this would bug me but even on the weekend, there was not enough traffic going by to really detract from the solitude and the experience. We had our morning devotional/ quiet times on the deck and laid out on the lounge chairs with super comfy cushions long into the night, enjoying the sounds of the river and a billion stars in the sky. Will definitely stay here again.

    Monique2019-08-26T00:00:00Z
  • A running river, beautiful forest and mountains, all close to some outstanding national forestry and parks.

    Gilberto2019-07-28T00:00:00Z
  • Evan’s cabin was beautiful, clean, and the location was awesome. My boyfriend and I relaxed in the Jemez river for hours. Really tranquil with all the amenities you would need and very close to Jemez Springs village.

    Michaela2019-07-21T00:00:00Z
  • Evan is a great host and his cabin is really cute and close to Jemez Spring’s restaurants, art galleries and hot springs. Great cabin for a great price.

  • This cabin is just amazing! The stream runs just behind the cabin. We enjoyed spending some quite time out in the patio listening to the sound of the stream and enjoying the pink sunsets! The cabin was easy to find and was clean and had all the amenities. Would definitely recommend it and will visit again for sure!

  • Excellent hospitality! Beautiful place! Perfection!

  • Debi's vacation is just incredible! It is in front of a mesa and the views are amazing. We walked to town several times- we really enjoyed Giggling Hot Springs. The house is spotless and has quite a few amenities for feeling so relatively "remote". We enjoyed the Smart TV in the evenings. Debi was very communicative and responded immediately to all of our question. I would like to return!

    Karen2020-03-11T00:00:00Z
  • The Jemez valley and surroundings are a favorite escape for us and Debi’s place only added to our enjoyment. All you could want/need and more. The best small rental we’ve seen in the area after 20+ years of living in NM. Especially great for a couple as there are a lot of knick-knacks so managing little kids’ hands might be a challenge. Thankfully our kids are older now and could stay at home while we enjoyed a quiet weekend in the red rocks and beautiful forest.

    Jason2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • Debi's place was perfect for our weekend in the Jemez. The house is charming with lots of beautiful pieces of art, thoughtful touches and truly spotless. The bed was very comfortable too. We would definitely stay here again.

    Michelle2020-01-27T00:00:00Z
  • Debi's place was wonderful. A beautiful location, very clean space, a homey feel.Loved the outside area too. It was easy to check in and out and we got to meet Debi who was helpful in showing us around. I would highly recommend this place and hopefully we will be back to enjoy it again.

    Nancy2020-01-20T00:00:00Z
  • Debi is wonderful and this house is perfect. She includes every ammenity you could need and it is walking distance to town. Can’t say enough about her hospitality and kindness. Thank you, Debi, for making our experience exceptional!

    Betsy2020-01-05T00:00:00Z
  • Without a doubt this place is wonderful. The location is perfectly suited close to town but up on a hill for some added privacy. The house itself is nicely decorated and very clean and comfortable. Debi has clearly put a lot of thought into making this a home away from home. Her communication was outstanding and the little touches here and there made us really appreciate choosing this place.

    Chris2020-01-01T00:00:00Z
  • We have rented many vacation properties over the years. This is one of the best we have stayed in. The house was spotless! It is tastefully decorated inside and out, has everything you could possibly need to make it your home away form home. The home is secluded in a very quiet area. Jemez Springs is a very friendly little town. Everyone we met made us feel welcome. The location is very conducive to exploring all of the natural attractions the area has to offer. There is a lot to see and do! One thing I still can't get over is the stars at night. Absolutely spectacular! I have never been to an area where the Milky Way so so noticeable and vivid. Debi is a fantastic host. Communication was timely throughout the process, she is very kind and friendly, and helpful in every way. If you are looking for a top notch rental in this area you will not go wrong with this one.

The apartment over the garage is conveniently located just off the Jemez Mountain Trail National Scenic Byway, where you can enjoy the many outside adventures that await you in this beautiful area. The 300 square foot apartment is perfect for couples, solo adventurers, and friendly furry friends. The decor is simple, modern, and clean. Comfortably fits two adults and a young child.
The apartment is built above our garage with its own private entrance, as pictured in one of the photos. Inside you’ll find a cozy queen size bed in the modest bedroom, with a lamp for reading. A ¾ bath with a shower is connected to the bedroom. The kitchen area contains a full size refrigerator and oven equipped with all the cookware necessary to cook a homemade meal. The cabinets are filled with drinking glasses, plates, bowls and utensils. The coffee bar is always fully stocked with coffee, tea, hot chocolate and cider. In the living area sits a small loveseat and chair for lounging. The love seat pulls out to make a twin sized bed. There are heaters throughout the space. Wifi is provided as well as a cell phone booster. Verizon customers should have service if the internet and electricity is operational. Because we are in a rural area, power and phone service can go down from time to time. Our guys at Jemez Mountain Electric and Windstream will work around the clock in all elements to get their services up and running, but before you book, know that it’s always a possibility that this can happen. A Netflix account is available on the TV, but we currently do not have any local TV stations. Not handicap accessible
Whether you are in town for business or pleasure, the Jemez Mountains has something for everyone with its endless opportunities for outdoor recreation. Explore some of the many hiking and biking trails throughout the area, or soak in one of the Natural Mineral Springs throughout the valley. There are Hot springs both on public and private land. • Misty’s apartment is super cute and in an awesome location. A yummy pizza place is around the corner, along with a general store. Amazing hikes to natural hot springs are just down the road. The apartment is pretty small, but it worked perfectly for the two of us. Everything in the kitchen was well stocked, with extra perks like fresh eggs and purified water. Misty was very responsive ahead of time, but gave us privacy once we arrived. I loved meeting the goats and checking out the nearby river. My dog was very happy to run around the yard. We hope to come back again next time we visit Jemez Springs!!

  • Meleny’s casita was warm welcoming and in a perfect location for those looking for something a little further out of city limits, but an easy effortless drive to Albuquerque. Guest house was very clean, bed was comfortable and well appointed with everything one could need for a comfortable stay.

  • Very cozy and comfortable place.

    Dana2019-10-22T00:00:00Z
  • Meleny's casita is such a sweet, comfortable space. The friendly outdoor feline hosts and nearby apple trees made it an even nicer one. We were in the area to hike and visit a few natural highlights, and the casita was an excellent access point to the region. We would certainly come back and stay again next time we're in the area!

    Elizabeth2019-10-18T00:00:00Z
  • It was such a pleasure to stay at Meleny’s! We had a short yet very enjoyable stay at the Casita for the Balloon Fiesta Festival. As soon as we arrived we were greeted by her two playful cats! The home was just as described beautiful , private and clean. So many thoughtful touches to make guests comfortable and relax. It is located in a nice quiet area, we were able to enjoy the scenery on our way to Albuquerque which was was shorter than we expected . Check in was very easy and Meleny was incredibly nice and very responsive at all times which made the stay even more enjoyable. Overall my stay was more than pleasant and would definitely recommend the place to others!- Great price , great location, spacious and a friendly, attentive host. Can’t wait to come back to this little gem!

    Betzy2019-10-13T00:00:00Z
  • Meleny and her Casita hit all the right notes for Barb & I. Initially, it did seem like Ponderosa would be a bit of a drive from ABQ, but as we seemed to hit the back and forth during sunrise and sunset, we were mesmerized by the scenery and colors. The drive was a welcome and relaxing part of our long day as vendors at the Balloon Fiesta art show. The Casita itself was the perfect getaway. Super clean and tastefully decorated, the space had everything we needed. The fresh eggs in the mini fridge were a nice and delicious touch. Only had a brief chance to get to know Meleny, but she was a perfect host, making sure we had everything we needed. Can't wait to revisit this area, stay with Meleny and her family and take advantage of some of the many local activities and destinations.

    Alan2019-10-06T00:00:00Z
  • Nestled in a green valley of great beauty, this cozy casita is surrounded by crystalline silence. It is spotless and charming. The bed is wonderful even for someone like me with back issues. Meleny anticipates her guests’ every need: there were tweezers and a small first aid kit in the spotless bathroom. (Not to mention a shower cap and all amenities ) The kitchen is meticulously equipped. We cooked several meals and took our morning coffee in the green area under two arching Apple trees loaded with fruit. Apples perfumed the air. The view was so lovely I painted it. Meleny has a bulletin board and binder offering all the information one could possibly need about the area. Maps- flyers- you name it : she has it covered. She even provides fresh free range eggs from her chickens. We enjoyed every minute of our ten night stay and hope to return for a month next year. Outstanding location!

The place for the outdoor lover to experience nature while enjoying (most) of the conveniences of home. Set right nearby San Pedro Wilderness/SF National forest makes this is a hiker’s paradise. Great jump off point for Abiqui Dam and Chaco Canyon. Host is an expert on the area and happy to provide you with all the information you need to have a perfect visit. You won't have WIFI and cellphone connection is spotty at best. This is a place to unplug and recharge.
Charcoal and small propane grill is available as well as a propane stove.
Village of Cuba is about a 15 minute drive with restaurants and basic groceries available. Brunos Mexican Cafe has excellent New Mexican food. Contact host for more information about the available outdoor activities.
  • Great place to go escape and enjoy nature for a few days! Marco was honest, helpful, and quick to respond. Would definitely come back!

    Dillon2019-11-07T00:00:00Z
  • We had a very comfortable stay. The house was nice and private but easy to find. Everything was very clean and the beds are comfortable. Marco provided fresh bottled water for coffee and drinking. We stayed there while in the area for a wedding so it was nice having two bathrooms and three mirrors to get ready with as I had 4 teen/young adult women with me. There was also a turntable and a decent size vinyl collection so we had music to listen to while we got ready. Poor cell service - but that's not necessarily a bad thing. We had a nice stay.

    Shannon2019-10-13T00:00:00Z
  • Marcos Mountain House is quite special. It's far enough from the rest of the world not to have internet (which we considered a bonus). We came to enjoy the quiet, the smell of pine trees, the walks, the starry nights. They only disappointment was that we didn't get to see elks, but looking for them was great fun it itself. Marco, at very short notice, managed to get the place ready for us: beds made, a campfire ready to go, a huge supply of fresh fruits. It was all much appreciated. I recommend Marcos Mountain House to anyone who's looking for peace, clean air, and birdsong. And elks.

This apartment is the main floor of a genuine log cabin with unobstructed views of Redondo Peak and Cat Mesa. The space is clean, cozy and blissfully quiet. Over 500 square feet of private space & a wrap-around redwood deck are dedicated to hospitality on this upper level of the house. Two bedrooms and pull-out sofa (3 queen beds), full bath & custom kitchen ensure everyone has plenty of elbow room. There is a steep incline for 3/4 mile on a dirt road. You may need 4WD in snow or ice.
This home has a forced hot air heating system fired by propane; guests control the thermostat. The cooking stove is a new electric glass-top with a full oven. All of our cleaning supplies are non-toxic and earth-friendly. We also provide botanical, salon-quality personal care products for use during your stay. We ask that guests please be kind to our septic system. We provide wifi and unlimited long-distance domestic calls on the landline. No smoking inside, but there is a fire-safe ashtray on the deck for your convenience. We keep a private apartment with a separate driveway & entrance downstairs. That unit is either occupied by our immediate family or a caretaker in our absence. Please note this is rural New Mexico. There is only so fast our dual internet services are going to work (DSL & satellite). Your cell phone reception, if any, will be poor. There is no TV. The cabin is less than a mile off the highway. Once you leave the highway, the roads are steep and not paved. You will need four-wheel-drive if there is any kind of snow or ice. A log cabin on dirt roads in the high desert gets dusty daily. We thoroughly clean between each guest, but a little bit of dust can appear quickly. Please know this is part of the charm of country living.
There are just a few dozen homes tucked into this mountainside development. Our neighborhood is extremely safe and quiet. This is a perfect space for a romantic long weekend, launch pad for outdoor adventures, rustic yet comfy vacation, easy walks, long naps, writer's retreat, self-care, meditation or just a low-key family get-away.
  • Stunning view all around the cabin. Great place to stay!

A spacious but cozy cottage nestled among the ponderosa and piñon pines. This mountain retreat offers expansive views and deck space. Borders on Santa Fe National forest and Poleo Creek. Relax in this special getaway... read, hike, nap, stargaze. This cottage is an architectural gem - think "tiny living," with intelligent design. 30 min from beautiful Abiquiu Lake & Georgia O'keefe country. Many activities await the adventurous-at-heart: Hike Pedernal, SUP and mountain bike to name a few :)
This is one of two cottages on this property... you can rent one or both. The other cottage is also listed on Airbnb: "The Treehouse cottage at Poleo Creek near Abiquiu". Part of the deck space is shared space between the cottages (at times...the other cottage might be occupied while you are there). Remember this is a clothing optional facility...although you might not choose to go without textiles... your neighbors might. We are on the North side of the Jemez Mountains, close to Abiquiu lake and San Pedro park wilderness. This is a remote location. The nearest grocery store or restaurant is 40 miles away. There is a wonderful general store, "Bode's" in Abiquiu, that has everything you might need including groceries, gas, and a small cafe. Be sure to bring food for your stay. The cottage has a full kitchen. There is a queen bed in the bedroom and a queen futon up the ladder in the loft. This ENTIRE PROPERTY (inside and out) is SMOKE FREE. This includes e-cigarettes and any other form of smoking or vaping. No exceptions.
The cottage is oriented to the east on an acre of land...so we always have beautiful sunrises. There is a dirt road behind our home that affords access to the San Pedro Wilderness which can get busy on the weekends. Otherwise this is a quiet, serene property. The night sky is amazing for star gazing.
  • This sweet cabin is excellent for those wanting to get away from civilization and be surrounded by nature. It was really comfortable for me and my sons.

  • I’ve been staying in Airbnb for many years all over the world. This is my favorite. Mikes place is amazing. Inside and out is perfect for us. So close to some amazing back country trails. Come prepared with groceries but know that Bodes in abiquiu has whatever you need. The space is private quiet and peaceful. We visited in early November and the wood stove keep us cozy. The loft is special and we enjoyed evenings of reading and board games. We lived it so much we changed our travel plans to stay longer! I can’t recommend it enough. I know we all say this but - we will be back!

  • Kirk and Anndee’s place was the PERFECT weekend away from us. We appreciated the prompt communication and how the cabin had everything we needed for a relaxing weekend in the mountains. We used the lounge chairs to sit outside, played cornhole, and listened to some old tunes on the record player. We made a fire in the fire pit and roasted marshmallows with the family. Awesome to see that they too are “horse people,” as we’ll certainly be returning with our two horses since they have a corral on property! Can’t wait to do even more exploring. If you’re remotely considering booking this, don’t look elsewhere and book it now! Thank you Kirk and Anndee!

  • If you love nature and seeing some incredible history, the Salmo Trurta cabin places you in the heart of it all. Wonderful hospitality. Comfortable beds. No cell phone reception, but WiFi is available. Roads from the west are dirt with big potholes, so be mindful if you're travelling at night. Location is fantastic to explore Sante Fe National Forrest.

    Sanley2019-09-20T00:00:00Z
  • I really can not top what was all ready said about the cabin. It was a party of five with a baby for a family weekend and all enjoyed the time to slowdown and enjoy Jemez. There was enough space for everyone so it never felt small. There was, hiking, hot springs, lots of eating, corn hole, smores and late night team puzzling. Everything we need was at the cabin, we brought the food and the fun was all around. A++ commutation with the hosts.

    Andre2019-09-02T00:00:00Z

  • A beautiful little cabin nestled in the mountains, only a short drive down to Jemez Springs and centrally located to all the best area sights! Loved the hot tub under the stars, the fireplaces, and the upstairs deck. Super appreciated all the available spices and condiments. Extra blankets and all the other house amenities where surely appreciated! Cafes in town were quaint and delicious, and really had a blast exploring the ruins, Soda Dam, Fenton Lake, Valles Caldera, and Jemez Falls. Stairs to bedrooms are steep, but the bedrooms are well appointed and the views beautiful. Outside staircase to deck and master bedroom much easier to navigate if the inside staircase proves challenging.

Pretty much everything we needed from firewood to detergent was available. So many beautiful areas and hikes to do around. Grocery store outside of nearest town was a drive so I would recommend hitting one on your way in.

  • Warm, welcoming space in the heart of the Jemez Mountains. Couldn't ask for a better experience, and the Barhaus is equipped with a great kitchen and everything that we needed during our stay. We were lucky enough to be there during peak aspen season, and it was bliss! Picked up some alpaca wool for my next project too.

  • Mickey's place is relaxing, warm, inviting, and an utter joyful experience. The barnhaus is equipped with so many excellent tools in the kitchen. The rooms are welcoming and cozy. This high mountain cabin has a very warm feel with the tongue and groove floors and ceiling. Located at 8800 feet in altitude makes a welcome relief from the city heat. Completely furnished and equipped. Walk out of the front door in to the Santa Fe National Forest for hiking, biking, fishing, or whatever strikes your fancy. Wonderful secluded location bordering the Santa Fe National Forest. Hike or ride your mountain bike right from the front door into the woods.
There are many short walks in the area including a large meadow with a pond, an overlook into the San Antonio canyon, and longer trips that would include the San Antonio Hot Springs if you would like a good, hot, mineral soak! Wild life is plentiful in the area with deer, elk, turkey, and the occasional bear along with many species of birds frequenting the feeders. Sit out on the front or back deck and listen to the beautiful silence of the Jemez!Amanda's Country Store is located 4 miles down the road in La Cueva. All you will need is food and beverages for your stay. Throw in your favorite pods for the Kuerig, or your grounds will work in the reusable pods. There is a washer and dryer available in the warmer months with soap and dryer sheets. Monica's Food Wagon is near Amanda's in La Cueva in the summer months, and Jemez Springs is 20 minutes down SR 4 where you can hit Los Ojos Bar and Restaurant, The Stage Stop Restaurant, and Hiway 4 Cafe and Bakery. Jemez Springs also features hot springs, a bath house with massage available, and Jemez State Monument. The Valles Caldera main gate is half an hour drive and is full of beautiful meadows and peaks ready to be explored. Access is limited daily so be sure to check with the visitor center for details. Fishing is available in the Caldera or in several streams located a few miles away, as well as Fenton Lake, which is 12 miles away. Another 20 minutes past the Caldera will put you in Los Alamos. Shops, restaurants and museums will make your trip to the "Atomic City" worthwhile. Near Los Alamos is Bandelier National Monument where you can explore ancient cliff dwellings or have a nice picnic down by the creek. Longer hikes at Bandelier are available to include waterfalls and back country shrines and painted caves. The cabin has two bedrooms with queen beds. There is a blow up full size mattress available for an extra guest if needed. Full bath equipped with a tub & shower. It has ceiling fans to keep the cool air circulating and a pellet stove to keep it toasty in cooler weather. Temperatures are rarely above 80 in summer so A/C is not necessary. It certainly has a "cabin" feeling with the pine wood floors, spruce tongue and groove ceiling in the main room and a big four post log bed in the master bedroom.
Bandolier National Monument is 45 minutes from the cabin. This is a great day trip. San Antonio Hot Springs is a two mile (approximate) hike and is a guest favorite. Plenty of streams to fish in and Fenton Lake is a 12 mile drive if you prefer to sit on the bank or rent a kayak. There are museums and attractions in Los Alamos which is 45 minutes away.
  • The cabin and the setting is way above and beyond what the pictures depict. You’ll drive up a forested winding road that feels nicely isolated until you come upon a small community of cabins and homes widely spaced from each other. The cabin seems to be at the end of the road at the edge of national forest. Serene. The inside of cabin is clean and has really everything you need and more. It’s well stocked -even bird seed - we saw woodpeckers, evening grosbeaks, chickadees, jays, sparrows, and more. Chipmunks, Albert’s squirrels also enjoyed the food. You could spend all your tins inside but still feel like you’re out camping in the forest since you’re surrounded by it. The rooms all have nice extra touches and the beds are extremely comfortable. We ran across some elk on a hike around the woods. Beautiful!

  • Beautiful spot with large open windows overlooking a forest of trees! I highly recommend this place. Sam was great!!

  • Sam is my best host ever! Me and my husband were afraid of the snow cover and couldn’t drive well to the cabin on the hilltop. But Sam helped us like a superhero. I was so relieved when he talked with and helped us. His house is my dream house. The size is best for me, super cozy, heartwarming, comfy, clean and thoughtful house! My kiddos loved watching small animals around this cabin. They were planning all the time around this cabin and discovered a lot. I can’t explain all things with my English skill but I totally loved this cabin!! I will come back here again!

  • Perfect cozy snow retreat. Friends and I spent the weekend snowshoeing, sledding, napping, and playing board games. A great way to spend time together. I couldn't have asked for a better location. Well stocked cabin, great pellet stove and down comforters kept us toasty.

  • The Jeme Mountains and Valles Caldera in particular are wonderful places to explore and enjoy. Sam's "Little Cabin in the Woods" is likewise the perfect place to stay as you experience all the Jemez have to offer. The cabin is cozy, fairly secluded , convenient, and Sam is expertly hospitable in getting guests set up for a perfect visit. Will of course stay at Sam's cabin the next time I visit the Caldera.

  • River House is such a special house in an extraordinary spot. Both the house and location reflect the essence of northern New Mexico. Our stay was perfect. It was hard to leave such a well-designed house with special touches every, nestled among red-faced mountains both behind and in front of the house. Thank you Susan.

  • My family of 4 had a great stay at River house. The house was comfortable and spacious and we enjoyed the views and quietness of the area. Jemez Springs was just down the road (we especially enjoyed a sunny afternoon soak in the hot springs) and there was plenty more to see and do within a 15-20 minute drive - hiking, Jemez Pueblo and beautiful scenery all around.

Jemez Springs has long been the location of choice for spiritual and recreational retreats because of its natural wonders and laid back atmosphere. The Village is located along the Jemez Mountain Trail Scenic Byway, in close proximity to the Valles Caldera National Park – one of only six super volcanos in the world – whose underground mineral hot springs have drawn visitors to the village for centuries. Along with its hot springs and outdoor activities, the village is equally rich in cultural beauty, home to Jemez State Monument (Jemez Historic Site) dating back at least 500 years whose remnants have stood the test of time. In fact, the Monument’s 16th century San José de Guisewa (Jemez) Church is one of the largest missions in the United States. . http://www.jemezsprings.org/
  • This place is truly one of a kind. As my boyfriend and I are from the east coast, New Mexico (and specifically Jemez Springs) was an amazing getaway. Mark’s little cottage is beautifully decorated and so homey. Not to mention, the bed is one of the best I’ve ever slept on. So worth it!

    Madison2020-03-15T00:00:00Z
  • Really enjoyed staying here! It was such a cute cottage with very comfy beds and a great little fireplace. Mark was very kind and responsive as well. Access to the hot springs was wonderful and so relaxing. Definitely coming back in the future.

  • This cabin was perfect for our “Friendsgiving.” We were able to cook a proper thanksgiving meal in the kitchen and comfortably eat together at the cozy table by the fire. There was something for everyone from the river to the outdoor fire pit to games and TV inside. The fully fenced backyard worked great for our dogs as well! Overall, great location for hiking and other outdoor adventures. The only thing we wished for was a little more seclusion, but overall had plenty of privacy and would stay again.

  • Amazing location nestled along the river. Cozy, rustic, and true to the location. We usually struggle to sleep when away from home and we slept like babies! Great game area in the loft, amazing views, and close to everything Jemez has to offer. our family will be back for sure!

  • Great stay in Jemez. Would love to return.

    Morgan2019-05-18T00:00:00Z
  • Wonderful getaway cabin! Enough space for 4-6 adults to find their own "spot" to read, watch tv, enjoy nature, or just look out the window at the lovely scenery. Also several different spaces for the entire group to gather and relax. In other words, lots of room! We thoroughly enjoyed. One more thing - we brought two infants, and when they awoke at night the other bedrooms could not hear them.

  • Everything about this place was amazing. The check in process was super easy and we made it just in time to enjoy our complimentary two hour soak at the hot springs (which was remarkably relaxing after a day on a plane). The space itself was one of a kind and I could tell a lot of thought went into the decor. If you’re looking for a quiet getaway then this is the place for you! I can’t say enough good things (including the bed which was so comfy). Only thing to note for visitors is that Jemez Springs is very small so food options are limited, so make sure to bring something to eat if you don’t feel like trying out the quaint bar across the street!
