  • Mike and Rachael's place is absolutely lovely and they are very kind and welcoming. The place is really stylish, clean and very cosy. We absolutely loved the use of space and the little touches like the record player, telescope, homemade Welsh cakes and farm eggs. Really does feel like you're on a private retreat. We also made friends with the lovely farm animals. Without doubt the best Airbnb stay we've had. We'll definitely go back!

  • What can you say? Heavenly! We stayed at Mouse House in February 2020, just after Storm Dennis, and not even the weather could dampen our spirits, such is this gem of a rural retreat in mid-Wales. Had the weather been better, we'd have no doubt set off on long walks in the beautiful countryside that surrounds Mouse House. But, the rain stopped play. Not that we'd complain. Mouse House is a delightful little place, with relaxing views of the ducks swimming across the pond/lake during the day, and a wonderfully warm log burner for cozy nights. We'd suggest packing a book or two, switching off all links to the outside world, and sitting back to let time pass. Although, if you do want to be connected, Mouse House has superfast broadband, Wi-Fi and Netflix on the huge smart TV. Seriously, we loved our stay and the little touches that Rachael and Mike added to make us welcome. I think it's fair to say we'll be back. Please keep that welcome in the hillsides!

  • Beautifully decorated place with stunning surroundings and all the essentials you could need thanks to the outstanding hospitality. The bed is extremely comfy and the tv and sound speakers were such good quality. Definitely coming back again 👌🏼

  • The Mouse House really is a tranquil little hidden gem and perfect in every way! The location is well away from the beaten track and perfect for some rest and relaxation, the setting is really beautiful and directions were spot on. I arrived the day after the storms and despite this, Rachael and Mike were perfect hosts, keeping me fully informed at every step. Such thoughtful personal touches really made the trip for me, the personal welcome and tour, local produce and home-made Welsh Cakes. The inside is warm and cosy and décor fabulous, lovely log burner, comfy sofa and amazing bathroom and bedroom, and spotlessly clean throughout, definitely a well deserved 5 stars! I can't recommend the Mouse House enough to anyone wanting to escape for some rest and relaxation, a romantic weekend and just enjoy the surrounding countryside. I will definitely be visiting again soon :-)

  • The Mouse House was brilliant - tucked away in the Welsh countryside, lovely little house with everything you need. Mike and Rachael were excellent hosts. Storm Ciara hit during our stay resulting in a power cut in the area but Mike and Rachael were extremely generous, making sure we still had everything we needed and our holiday disrupted as little as possible - even cooking a hot dinner for us! Would massively recommend the Mouse House to anyone looking. Thanks again Mike and Rachael!

    Vicky2020-02-10T00:00:00Z
  • What a fabulous place! Set amongst beautiful countryside in its own garden by a lake with its own decking and bbq area. Spotlessly clean and furnished to a high standard with everything you could possibly need (and more) to hand. Fresh eggs, homemade jam and chutney along with Rachaels homemade welsh cakes were very much appreciated and were all extremely yummy! Lovely friendly hosts who are on hand if needed but not intrusive in any way. A menagerie of animals including a friendly dog, chickens, cockerel and alpacas. We will definitely be returning and will be recommending to our family and friends!

    Wendy2020-02-02T00:00:00Z
  • You definitely have to check this little hidden gem out! It is in a secluded area but close to the shops if u need to grab food or want to eat out. The hideaway is a perfect getaway for a long weekend and is so peaceful. Rachael and Mike left thoughtful little touches such as the gorgeous welsh cakes and the welcome note on the board as you arrive. The mouse house is a must visit and i will definitely be recommending it in the future. I can imagine it is even more welcoming in the summer when you get to enjoy sitting outside amongst the wilderness. Book it now you wont be disappointed!

  • Me and my boyfriend booked a last minute trip to the Mouse House in Wales. It was incredibly good value for money and looked amazing online. When we got there we were greeted with great communication from our hosts who welcomed us and set us up with anything we needed. The house is in a beautiful, peaceful setting and the hosts went above and beyond to make sure we had lovely little touche

  • A lovely quiet space in the midst of rolling hills, in the grounds of a beautifully presented traditional country pub above Newtown. Ideally placed for NCN Cycle Route 81, and Coleg Powys and Theatre Hafren. Christine is a lovely, accommodating host and the Bunk House is spotless. The Breakfast Menu will set you up for the day! I hope to return again soon.

  • A pleasant place Tranquility and surrounded by nature

    Pascual2019-08-02T00:00:00Z
  • Everything was great (This is a second review because I made two separate bookings)

    Leszek2019-07-28T00:00:00Z
  • Very nice place, and very clean. Christine was a great host and very helpful. There was an option to have a nice breakfast. In the bunkhouse, there are 2 rooms with 4 beds each and two bathrooms on the side of it, shower costs 20p/4 min which is not very expensive:)

    Leszek2019-07-27T00:00:00Z
  • Fantastic place for an overnight stop. Bathrooms and bunkhouse were clean and very comfy. Heater in the room so it's always warm. Have to pay to use the showers but 20p for 4 minutes is more than acceptable considering how clean they are kept and the low overall cost of a nights stay. Friendly bar with pool table on site. Would recommend and stay again if ever In the area.

    Andy2019-04-23T00:00:00Z

  • A real hidden gem. One of the friendliest welcomes to a stay that we have experienced, after spending a day in the welsh forests we were greeted at the door with the offer of a hot cup of tea and a slice of homemade cake. The facilities were fantastic with every room decorated beautifully and plenty of amenities provided. The house itself is set in a lovely location high in the mountains where you wake up looking down through the valley. In the morning the breakfast was fantastic with fresh fruit and cereal, toast and jam followed by a lovely full english breakfast. Would highly recommend staying here.

  • An incredible house and view, with an even better host. Sue was fantastically accommodating and hospitable. She made the whole experience very simple and easy. Directions were spot on and the hosting was second to none, even going to the extent of assisting us with our ironing. You couldn’t ask for a better host.

    Simon2019-07-21T00:00:00Z
  • Absolutely fantastic Airbnb host! Sue and her husband went out their way to make us feel at home and comfortable. The place was incredible and the views out the front spectacular. It's spotlessly clean and the amount of extra touches and make your trip really feel special. We'll be back soon!

  • We had a great stay with Lisa and family. The place is clean, spacious and surrounded by nature. Lisa was a great host and her hospitality started at booking or even before I can say. She was prompt and great in providing local information and even made the necessary booking for us. She was kind enough to offer pancakes (off the menu) which made our son’s day! I would definitely recommend the place.

  • We had a wonderful and relaxing stay at Lisa & family. The room was very neat, the breakfast is really really good. To wake up in a room with such an amazing view over the hills and the sheep is fantastic. The location is not only quiet and relaxing, but is also quite handy to discover different areas (south and mid Wales, Snowdonia national park).

  • Amazing place, located by itself in a little valley. Relaxing in the front room with the log burner on while watching sheep wander past the front door against a beautiful backdrop of hills and trees was so peaceful. Nia was also a great host, she prepared a fire for us on arrival, met us en route to ensure we arrived okay and even bought us some beers and crisps as a welcome... 5 stars all round!

  • Wow! We have had an incredible stay here at Blaen y Cwm. We find ourselves very lucky to have found this piece of paradise tucked away in the welsh valleys. Everything was perfect from start to finish. The special touches for our stay were wonderful and very welcoming. The children had a brilliant time playing with the games supplied, colouring in and exploring the land. Beautiful scenery and amazing walks, no WiFi or television was even better and this meant family time, all the time :). Comfy beds and a great fire every night. We are already planning our next visit back and we can’t thank you enough for a great experience. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Stay.

  • Fantastic private, serene location. So comfortable and clean. We really couldn’t have asked for more. As a family the lack of gadgets (TVs etc) was perfect for us to spend some quality time together. The house had everything we needed and more. The hosts are beyond lovely. We can’t wait to return.

  • Absolutely amazing location and fantastic off-grid cottage with all the home comforts. Wonderful walks from the door. A great place to get away from it all! Nia and her husband are great hosts, friendly and easy to communicate and welcomed us at the cottage.

  • Jim greeted us on arrival - he was very welcoming and easy talk to as well as good-humoured. Barbara wasn't around when we arrived but she was extremely pleasant on the phone and kept us informed about check in a few days in advance. The house was nice, the beds and pillows were welcomingly comfortable. Because we arrived late-ish and were leaving at 5 am to watch the rally Jim very kindly prepared bacon baps for us the night before (as well as telling us we were mad!)

A generous breakfast following a sound nights sleep was really appreciated.Barbara and Bob were very generous with her care of visitors and ensured that our stay in Mid Wales met our expectations. Barbara and Bob are outstanding hosts and we are looking forward already to our next visit to Llandinam

  • A lovely stay at Barbara’s lovely home. We were photographing a wedding at the nearby Plas Dinam wedding venue, for which the house is very convenient for. Barbara’s breakfasts were lovely with local bacon and eggs and home made jams. A lovely bedroom with an adjacent private bathroom, with a kettle and tv provided and plenty of storage for clothes. Highly recommended!

Converted 19th century chapel to very comfortable specification, open plan and double height space to relax after walking, cycling, hiking, touring or popping down the shooting range or pub. Four bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, downstairs loo & utility, sofa bed, sofas and plenty of dining space in main room or at breakfast bar. Rangemaster double oven. Rear garden for relaxation where sun sets. Solar heating, underfloor downstairs and highly insulated & draft-proofed Weekday lower rates available
Primarily it's a vast, open plan space. The original chapel was imperial scale 36 x 48 foot. For families it's very comfortable around the sofas, or activities at the central dining tables. No corridors so that means you perhaps, have less privacy it gives a crisp open space. All bedrooms at the rear of the building facing the garden and farm. Room with bunk beds also contains a cot.
We have signposted walks round the village, of course you can go further! The local pub is a pleasure for drink, food and interesting events (sheep shearing in the car park, etc)
  • We booked Robert's Chapel for Joint Family Birthdays & what a great venue it was. The weather could have been better but regardless of the outside conditions we were snug inside without so much of a creak coming from the solid old building. You would assume it would be cold inside such a vast space but just the opposite once the heating had fired up, The first night we put the wood burner on & sat in the lounge laughing & enjoying each others company into the wee small hours & didn't move too far the following day, You could spend hours reading the many framed memorabilia a person of my age could relate to. I would wholeheartedly recommend for groups but treat it with respect.

  • Second visit to Robert's place and once again throughly enjoyed it. We look forward to staying again in the future!

  • We had a wonderful stay. Directions were perfect and check in was simple and easy. We loved looking around the beautiful building and were intrigued with all of the interesting items and collections! There was plenty of space for eating, socialising and playing games. We enjoyed going to the local pub for tea which was great value and going to lovely walks in the local area. Would recommend this place!

  • Very eccentric different place to stay. Very clean with a great host. So much space and has everything you need! Great time.

  • Roberts place is absolutely fantastic. Robert is a great host - kept in contact and responded very quickly to any questions. The house is lovely - really well stocked, and such a great layout. Such a big space which was perfect for a family get together. Thanks for such a lovely stay!

    Josie2019-12-01T00:00:00Z
  • Fabulous space for a group reunion/get together - full of quirk and wonder. Common area and dining is totally perfect for a social gathering. Beautifully converted chapel - great kitchen amenities and big oven and fridge. You'd have an amazing table for a large roast or xmas dinner or sharing tapas. Best to cater for yourselves and have drinks at the bar type space as the village pub has restricted kitchen opening and space and availability and is not anywhere as nice an environment as the home. Newtown is further away than you think and none of the Indians in Newtown deliver that far so you've only really got a Chinese or a chip shop about 4 miles away. We opted to self cater and stay in as was a much better option for us. The walls are covered with music memorabilia (& more) which was fascinating if you like that kind of music but still interesting if not! Robert is great at getting back quickly with info and local knowledge. All 8 of my group would go back.

This charming three bedroomed cottage is truely a home from home. Sitting within the beautiful Severn Valley in Mid Wales, Hafod has its own dedicated lane off the main road, with plenty of parking space for guests. Surrounded by green fields and with panoramic views of the beautiful countryside, the cottage is so cosy and warm in the winter period whilst light, spacious and inviting during the summer months. Hafod is a real gem located in one of the most beautiful areas of rural Wales.
The cottage boasts many of its original features, including beams, inglenook fireplace and tastefully exposed brickwork. At the same time, the cottage has a wood burning stove, a modern wet room with power shower and all other modern facilities. Tea, coffee and milk will be available on arrival, along with a welcoming hamper.
Caersws village has two late opening shops that are able to provide all necessary victuals, a post office, garage, Hotel/Restaurant, two pubs and a Railway Station. The river Severn is within walking distance where guests can either walk along the river bank, or fish for Trout or Grayling (in season - day tickets available at the local shop). An international clay pigeon shooting range is 4 miles away, local market towns just 7 miles away. Powys Castle (National Trust) is within easy reach, as is Portmeirion and the Snowdonia National Park and numerous other attractions. Excellent beaches are just 1 hour away from the Cottage by car or by train. With no light pollution, views of the night skies are an astronomers delight.

Bryn y Pentre Cottage lies at the end of a half mile track in a dip at the top of a hill from which you can see the magnificent views of the valleys below. You are assured quiet of peace and quiet. Aberhafesp lies in mid Wales an ideal launching point for the coast, the Welsh Marshes and such National Trust places as Powys Castle. Walks are a plenty including the Severn Way which passes at the bottom of the track
  • The photos do not do this place justice it is such a cosy, beautiful cottage. Rod was a fantastic friendly host providing us with all the information we needed about the local area and great places to walk the dogs. The cottage was sparkling clean, quiet and secluded, giving a feeling of total tranquility. The stars in the night sky was absolutely breathtaking. We cannot praise this place and its host enough, it was truly outstanding. Very much looking forward to returning some day. Joanna & Family :)

  • We had a wonderful 5 day stay, and what a superb location. Exactly what we needed total peace and quiet, wonderful walks and views. Our dogs and children loved the freedom and fresh air. We were very blessed to have beautiful sunshine throughout the visit. The open fire was heavenly and the beds were so comfy and warm. Rod was a wonderful host and responded swiftly to any query. Highly recommended, and all the personal touches in the house made our stay seem like a home from home.

  • Comfortable stylish escape in Mid Wales. great local walks and Snowdonia a bit further afield. Blissfully quiet at night with the exception of the odd owl.

  • Rod was a very good host and the property was well equipped and cosy. The beds were comfy and everything was spotless lky clean. Sat in a lovely remote spot the property was ideally situated for a great get away. The property had everything we needed and lots of special touches such as books and DVDs l. Rod went out if his way to make us feel at home Rod was very attentive and kept us up to date with information. I would recommend him to other guests and woulddefinitely visit again.

    Deb2018-11-04T00:00:00Z
  • We spent a few wonderful days here, a family of 4 plus 2 well behaved dogs (with prior agreement of Rod). The house is really well appointed, clean, well equipped and plenty of space for all of us. The farmhouse style kitchen was homely with a good range of implements required for cooking. The settling is stunning, quite and tucked away in truly beautiful countryside. There was a fantastic wood across the field and over the style where the dogs had a wail of a time! Rod, the host, was quite wonderful. He made us feel completely at home, he's warm welcoming and very approachable - Nothing was too much bother, he kept us well stocked with logs for the burner, showed us around the house and woods and even enjoyed a glass or two of red wine with us 😀🍷 Would we go back..??? Most definitely...... Thank you Rod for making our short break most enjoyable, we loved every minute of it even Great Tits tapping on the windows in the morning to wake us up. We will be back (with more wine......)

Recently built spacious room with spectacular views of the Welsh countryside. Very comfortable queen sized bedstead, settee, dressing room and en-suite shower room. Satellite TV plus tea and coffee. Drawer and hanging space. Please note we need 2 days notice to ensure the hot tub is prepared and ready to use. There is no passing bus service so a car is essential.
Very spacious bedroom withl en-suite. The room is furnished with a settee and has room for a childs bed if needed.Tea and coffee making facilities are available plus satelite T.V. The spacious private lounge has a large inglenook fireplace with log burner and is available for your use. Plenty of parking and bicycles can be securely stored inside. Adult supervision is required outside for children as there is a large fish pond at the side of the house. There are however large lawns and a very large paddock on which they are free to play.
We are the only house on the postcode and mentioned on the ordinance survey map and we have no immediate neighbours but are only four miles from Newtown on a quiet main road. We are central for countryside, canalside, riverside, forest and hill walks. Cycling is very popular with beautiful and challenging rides or simple trips on the flat. Local attractions include Dolfor castle with magnificent views as has the castle in the old county town of Montgomery. Powys castle with its beautiful gardens. Gregynog Hall and gardens. Abbey- cum - Hir Hall which is a fascinating 52 roomed house and gardens. The Clywedog dam. The Elan valley with its four dams. The several seaside towns all of which have their own charm and many more villages, houses and places of interest to visit. The distant views down the Severn valley from our house are stunning.
  • The house is in a beautiful setting, in the middle of the countryside. The room we stayed in was incredibly spacious, with views across the fields. And we can’t praise the hospitality enough. We will definitely stay here again!

  • An absolutely beautiful and sparkling clean house, set in some stunning scenery. Irene and Laurie were fantastic hosts, and we ended up having a lovely evening of stories and laughter in front of the blazing fire (after hot tub time of course!). We'll be back!

  • Irene and Laurie are perfect hosts - welcoming, friendly, attentive and generous. We were looked after completely from the moment we arrived and were given lots of local tips including a lovely waterfall walk. The house and surroundings are beautiful and the hot tub was very relaxing. Lots of little touches made this stay perfect!

    Katie2018-09-09T00:00:00Z
  • What a fantastic room in a very nice house in the country! The views are overlooking the hills, river and fish pond with lots of bird life - quite stunning! We had a friendly welcome with fresh cakes, tea and beer! and were shown around the house and common rooms. The room is very spacious and there is a sofa and chairs if you wish to watch tv etc The ensuite was clean and the shower nice and powerful. Breakfast was delicious and was complemented by fresh croissants and tea. There is offload parking in a gated off area for your vehicle which makes it nice and secure. As recommended by our host we visited a stunning waterfall the next day which we had not known about - so that was a bonus! Thanks again for letting us stay in your delightful house.

    Alex2018-08-27T00:00:00Z
  • Absolutely beautiful house, our room was huge, with modern bathroom and incredible view out. Everything was spotlessly clean, bed comfy and tea/coffee in the room. Irene was such an accommodating host, with flexible check in, breakfast provided when we got up, and help and advice for travelling to our friends wedding. Homemade bread and cake were wonderful too!!

  • Wow, what can I say.......an absolutely stunning place to stay. Laurie and Irene were the best hosts I could have hoped for. The room was beautiful and the breakfast was brilliant. No 2 Frankwell Terrace situated in the old weaving district of Penyglodffa, is the ideal property in which to spend time enjoying everything Newtown has to offer and with the opening of the Bypass the coast and North Wales are but a few hours drive away. Built in 1895 and belonging to the curator of the nearby Textile Museum it has been sympathetically restored and offers great accommodation on three floors including private enclosed courtyard with seating area. Wifi has recently been added.
  • This is quite a unique property as the decor is historic, attractive and very quirky. The upstairs TV room is a nice touch while retaining the period feel downstairs. It has a modern kitchen with all facilities but still very in keeping with the rest of the house. Nothing here is generic or mass produced. The outside area is private and catches the afternoon sun. Newtown itself is one of the nicest Welsh towns we have stayed in. The town has excellent access to good walking and two Sustrans cycle routes (though neither is flat!). We thoroughly recommend staying here.

Beautifully decorated, converted school house with a large sitting room and log fire, dining hall and snug, large kitchen diner with direct access to a garden terrace with chiminea over-looking a large private garden and adjacent river. Set in secluded countryside near Newtown with easy access to the coast. The nearby village of Mochdre has a pub and church but little else although 5 mins in the car offers supermarkets, baker, butcher, chemist, bank with cash dispenser and all-hours petrol station. A short stroll from the property takes you along the river bank, through the woods to a waterfall perfect for den-making, picnics and dog walks. All around there are walking, hiking and biking trails for all levels of ability. The Peaceful Retreat was originally the village schoolhouse and is mentioned in historic documents. Sadly few features remain and the property has been completely renovated by the current owner as a holiday home, including a new kitchen (with modern equipment and appliances) redecoration and restyling of interiors throughout. The house is decorated and equipped to a high specification offering guests comfort combined with practicality. The kitchen is a lovely light living space, with doors and a window overlooking the pretty rear garden. Wide double french windows give direct access from the living room to the stone terrace dining area alongside the river - a real sun trap. There is a modern wood burner in the living room with logs and kindling supplied although the property is fully centrally heated. Sit in the garden or by the river and you are unlikely to hear anything other the trickle of the water, birdsong or the occasional sound of farmers in the fields. Take a short car drive and you can be shopping in the traditional Welsh shops in local towns or a little further on - you’re on beautiful, unspoilt Welsh beaches! Truly the best of both worlds for a holiday in Wales!

The house has everything you need and is a short drive from Newtown where you can find large supermarkets, restaurants and pubs. The two larger rooms are furnished with settees and have room for a child's bed if needed.Tea and coffee making facilities are available in all rooms. The spacious private lounge has a large inglenook fireplace with log burner and is available for your exclusive use. Plenty of parking and bicycles stored inside. Adult supervision is required outside for children as there is a large fish pond at the side of the house. There are however large lawns and a very large paddock in which they are free to play. We need 48 hrs notice to use the Hot Tub therefore it mat not be available for late bookings.
We are the only house on the postcode and mentioned on the ordinance survey map and have no immediate neighbours but are only four miles from Newtown on a quiet main road.

This room is in he old part of the house which dates back 250 years. The house sits in it's own grounds which include a small river and flour mill with formal gardens around the house. We are situated fifty minutes drive from the coast in the heart of beautiful Mid-Wales countryside but handy for shopping in Newtown (4miles) and British Rail (2 miles).
We are easy to find at SY16 3HP as we are the only property on this post code. Please use it to avoid your sat nav taking you to the other Rhyd Lydan two hours from here. Also if you are travelling via Welshpool follow the road signs to Newtown to avoid narrow country roads.. There is no local bus service so a car essential. Although close to Newtown the house is surrounded by fields and wonderful views.

  • A Beautiful, welcoming home with the friendliest of hosts. Irene made us feel welcome before we had even arrived. We stayed here with a group of 10 adults and a baby for a wedding and it was the perfect stay. All the rooms are kitted out to a high standard with a generous continental breakfast. The hot tub in their stunning garden overlooking the valley was a lovely bonus too.

    Dominic2019-04-21T00:00:00Z
  • Really super place to stay in the beautiful Welsh landscape. The property was outstanding and the hosts were brilliant, so kind and helpful in their beautiful period home. We had everything we could ever have wanted-- and the king-sized bed was so relaxing and comfortable-- a real snuggle snuggle bed! Breakfast in this old farm house, in their lovely dining room, was delicious. Irene and Laurie were the prefect hosts.

  • Homely with spectacular views. Very comfortable bedding that meant we had a restful night. Woke up to breakfast from our gracious hosts Irene and Laurie. We'll definitely be going back for a longer stay.
