This place was absolutely fantastic! The apartment felt like home from the moment we walked in, with every amenity you could possibly need for daily life. The location is unbeatable – just a short 5-minute walk to the train station. From Kichijoji station, you can take an express train and be in Shinjuku in just 15 minutes, making it easy to explore Tokyo. But what truly made our stay exceptional was the co-host, Su san. She was incredibly responsive, helpful, and generous. Her unbelievable friendliness truly uplifted our entire experience. I highly recommend this place and hope to stay here again in a near future. Thank you so much for your hospitality.

Mitten in der City ein Hostel mit soviel Japan Flair zu finden, hätte ich nicht erwartet. Der kleine Garten und das 100 Jahre alte Haus in dem man schläft versprüht Japan Flair pur! Das Personal ist super freundlich und sehr zuvorkommend! Eine ganz klare Empfehlung wer kein Problem hat mit 3 weiteren Gästen in einem Zimmer zu schlaffen!

Etsu should write the textbook on hosting people. Staying at matcha terrace was truly a special experience. The home is even more beautiful than the pictures. One day I was not feeling well, Etsu did everything she could to make sure I felt better. I am really happy I was at matcha terrace at that time. It is a beautiful Japanese home. It’s very quiet, and you get a lot of privacy and room for yourself. She cooks an AMAZING breakfast every morning. It’s a beautiful way to start your day. She drove me to and from the station. On my last day she stopped to show me the Hydrangeas at a local shrine. As a solo traveler she offered to take pictures of me, without me asking. No detail is too small for Etsu. She has local insights and gives very good recommendations. I plan on coming back to matcha terrace the next time I am in Japan. Seriously a special place and an incredible host. Would highly recommend! Plus a cute dog 😊

Yoshiko is a fantastic host, from offering to pick me up at Okigubo station to helping me with all matters during my stay in Tokyo, she has welcomed me with upmost warmth and hospitality. The apartment is conveniently located in west Tokyo, just a short distance from Shinjuku, and yet the neighbourhood is peaceful and quiet, allowing me to have a good night’s rest. There are convenient stores located very near the apartment, as well as many food options available. It is located near the JR station of Okigubo as well. I would recommend this place to anyone looking to stay in Tokyo. Once again, thank you Yoshiko!

Masami was an amazing host. We were traveling around Japan and had some changes that came up close to check in. Masami had already connected with us providing clear welcome information and instructions. And he was also wonderfully flexible allowing us to shift our timing back due to travel changes. His home is comfortable and lovely with a true Japanese aesthetic. The bathroom was clean and equipped with all amenities we might have needed including lovely bath salts. There were lovely teas and water. Masami asked often how we could provide what we needed. I was working the entire week and it was a wonderful oasis to come back to, while also being walking distance from a wonderful range of restaurants and shops. The room and bed were comfortable with enough space for all we needed. I would highly recommend a stay here. I will for sure hope to stay when I am next back for work or play.

I had a nice stay. Junko-San is kind and considerate of her guests. She always makes sure you are comfortable - even providing a humidifier in the dry winter weather when I became sick after traveling. This is one of the most comfortable beds and pillows I’ve slept on. I love the big down comforter. The neighborhood is very walkable and conveniently located between two stations with lots of good places to eat. I’d definitely stay again when I’m back in Tokyo for an extended amount of time.

Le séjour chez Sanjo-san était simplement parfait. L’hôtesse est très accueillante, toujours prête à donner des conseils ou à aider en cas de besoin. Elle est venue me chercher à la gare et m’a aussi raccompagnée le jour du départ - la gare se trouve à 5 minutes à pied et elle relie Shinjuku en une vingtaine de minutes. La chambre va très bien pour une personne. Tout est très propre et soigné et les petits déjeuners étaient vraiment bons. De plus, Sanyo-san a pris de temps d’échanger et de me parler du Japon. C’est une de mes meilleures expériences Airbnb!

This is very much a very traditional Japanese set up and the description was accurate. Masa was able to check me in early which made a huge difference and the room was big enough to make myself comfortable. More importantly, the WiFi was very fast so I was able to work without any interruptions.
