Sometimes while sitting at our office desk, the memory of the visit to the grandparents’ ancestral house strikes us, leaving us with an aching heart and a smile on the face. We end up reminiscing the memories of sugarcane fields, open playgrounds, a cool dip in the tube well, while we long for one more visit to bond with nature.
A serene room with a balcony, in an old house, with a leisurely pace of life, set in the historical city of Meerut. A welcome change from the sterile flats of metros, in a city which has a beautiful sprawling cantonment, many interesting buildings standing from its colonial past, and a growing number of malls and culinary options, lending itself a place of interest to many tastes. Located in an extremely safe neighborhood, with proximity to many general stores and vegetable/ fruits vendors.
“The visit was an absolute joy right from the communication (my booking request was accepted within 20 min), the stay and the interesting discussion during my visit. I was welcomed by Anjum’s parents with a hot Indian ‘chai’ (tea). Next up was an invite for breakfast. There is something about hot ‘paranthas’ in the morning. Accompanied with vegetables it was a sumptuous meal. As if that wasn’t perfect, home made ‘gajar ka halwa’ (Indian carrot pudding) was served as dessert that was the cherry on the cake. The room that I was settled in was very comfortable, had few books (which I am a huge fan of), a sofa to lounge on, a side table to site and write/work if required - all in all a large and well thought out area. Attached to the room was a spacious and very clean bathroom. There is also a balcony that overlooks the main entrance to the house (the bedroom is on the first floor). I had a great time and the hospitality was homely, thoughtful and perfect!”
