Holiday rentals with breakfast in Lake Malawi

Floncy and Kondwani's home was an unforgettable local homestay base for us. This is the ultimate place to immerse yourself in Malawi culture. This community is a true village, with closeknit connections and an opportunity to meet many locals. The hosts are a young family (they have an adorable 3 year old as well), and they are incredibly kind. We opted for full board, which was amazing. Floncy is a wonderful cook, and we enjoyed learning how to make traditional dishes with her and chatting with the family during meals. We loved exploring Livingstonia by foot and on motorcycle taxis. The family also runs a community-based organization that is helping local elders, and we enjoyed volunteering with them! We've been traveling for 8 months, and this is one of our favorite places from our travels.

Davie was an absolutely amazing host and helped us with everything (application for the visa, picking us up at the bus stop, buying Sim card, showing us around and things like that). At his home we where part of the family although we just stayed for 2 days. But the whole family was really helpful and nice to us. We got food 3 times a day which was very delicious (local food that was cooked by his wife and we ate it with his family). Davies home is located in Karonga close to the lake and also close to the bus stop and shopping opportunities. So if you want to make an awesome experience and stay with locals and learn about their culture i can absolutely recommend this homestay.

Daphne and her husband were so welcoming and helpful. I arrived late on a Friday and Daphne even made dinner for me to have with them, it made all the difference! I would highly recommend this stay to anyone visiting Lilongwe.

Wonderful stay. Great vibe, very friendly hosts. Nice and quiet, yet not far from town (10 minutes walk).

The place is amazing. It indeed gives a great mix between the rural experience and modern. I was able to kick back and relax. My visit also coincided with traditional ( Nyau) event, which was great to experience! Wifi would be great. However, having no immediate access was not a problem as I could buy units elsewhere and use onsite

We felt very comfortable in Davids Apartment in Karonga. The house is in a very nice location in a residential area of the city that we would not otherwise have got to know. The room has a mosquito net and a fan. The bathroom and toilet were spotlessly clean. But the most important thing was David's family (he wasn't there himself), who gave us a very warm welcome. We learned a lot of interesting things about life in Karonga from talking to David's parents. They gave us lots of tips on what to see in the city (the "From Dinosaurs to Democracy" museum, the beautiful beach resort in Mikoma). Jessie and her husband were wonderful hosts. What a lovely family! When we had difficulty finding the place, she met us and we followed her to the AirBnB. This was just the first example of her going the extra mile to help us. The whole family went out of their way to make us feel at home. Breakfast was awesome! They shopped especially to accommodate our diet and the food was delicious! Next time we’re in that area, we’ll be back.

Owen is a great host. If you can twist his arm, let him make you his local chicken and chilli grill or lemon chicken with sweet potato!

This was our second stay at Mabuya and the first in their rental house. We found it to be comfortable and quiet with the convenience of the restaurant and staff on site. We would recommend it and plan to stay here again in our future travels.

I loved staying with Irene! She did everything to make me feel comfortable and at home and even cooked for me! We had incredible conversations and she taught me so much about Malawi. I would stay with her again without a doubt!

this was value for money, the staff were extremely helpful, the room was clean and spacious, Iliked the fact that I was able to ask for assistance anytime and the staff were available all the time. the location is just in between citycentre and old town which was very convenient for me.it was an experience living with the locals in my own private space away from home. Will definately visit again.

It was a wonderful stay at Talithas place, the family put alot of effort into making the place nice and pleasant aswell as attention to good service. very clean and tidy. Myself and my guests enjoyed the stay.

Good place to stay nearby Gatewall Mall, convenient for early bus departures from there

This is an awesome place in the affluent area of Lilongwe. The landscape is done beautifully with a lovely swimming pool and BBQ area at the back. The apartment is lovely with exquisite furniture and fittings. The place is well covered for power fluctuations with back up generator. It is private and good for work or meetings too. Edward was so helpful with tips to make my life as a foreigner, easy in Lilongwe. He is a good communicator and very helpful. I highly recommend Edward’s place to any would-be guest planning to visit Lilongwe.
